What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Ruby confessed to Chas and Marlon revealed what had happened with Laurel

Ruby Fox-Miligan made a confession to Chas Dingle in Emmerdale tonight that left her sister-in-law shocked. Ruby then decided to take action, but will it bring peace?

Meanwhile, Rhona confronted Marlon who finally revealed what his mystery texts with Laurel were about.

Here’s all that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Friday January 3.

Ruby broke her silence in Emmerdale tonight

Chas has noticed something isn’t right with Ruby. Ruby was trying to make amends with Steph after the birthday debacle, but Steph was not forgiving her at all and wanted to exchange all the birthday gifts Ruby got her. Meanwhile, Anthony played the doting father and grandfather and fought Ruby’s corner with Steph.

Anthony was rubbing it in Ruby’s face, so Ruby got drunk. She went to go searching for April with Chas, but Chas wouldn’t go with a drunk Ruby. Ruby made some comments about protecting Steph and Chas decided to get to the bottom of it all, especially when Ruby said she’d kept something hidden for over 30 years.

Ruby then broke down and confessed Caleb might not be Steph’s dad. She stopped short of revealing who the dad might be, but Chas realised Ruby had been forced and it wasn’t consensual. She encouraged Ruby to fight for justice. Ruby couldn’t bring herself to and insisted she had to keep it hidden, however later she ordered a DNA test kit to find out once and for all who Steph’s dad is.

    Rhona was hurt

Marlon and Rhona were arguing over April as Rhona tried to tidy up the Christmas presents. She then confronted him over keeping secrets with Laurel.

Marlon confessed Laurel had been drinking again and called him to pick her up from a bar. He helped her stop, but she tried to kiss him and despite him saying it was nothing, Rhona told him he kept a secret from her and that’s what mattered. He insisted it shouldn’t matter as the bigger picture was about April, but Rhona told him she mattered too.

    Dawn still hates Joe

Joe has Kim wrapped round her finger who seems to truly believe he is here to support her as family. Dawn is still suspicious of him though. Kim invited Joe to Will’s funeral, but Dawn later insisted he was not welcome. He accused Dawn of being a parasite and she went to hit him, just as Kim walked in.

Jacob couldn’t deal with his stress

Sarah’s still feeling sorry for herself over Jacob and he was really feeling the pressure. He sped into the village after his shift and nearly mowed down Manpreet. Vanessa gave him a lecture, but Manpreet was more understanding and talked to Jacob about his shift. She advised him to find some coping mechanisms – so he decided to take a leaf out of Ruby’s book and get wasted. Probably wasn’t quite what Manpreet had in mind!

What has happened to April in Emmerdale: 8 theories from Anthony kidnap to Scott Windsor return

April Windor is not dead in Emmerdale – as far as we know – after a stabbing victim was wrongly identified as her. But that means Marlon is no closer to finding his missing daughter. So where is she?

As more and more comes out about April’s secret life including drinking, taking drugs and a private social media profile featuring worrying videos, fans are speculating exactly what has happened to her.

Has she run away? Was she taken? Where is April and is she safe?

Here’s the top theories over what has happened to April in Emmerdale.

April Windsor goes missing in Emmerdale

After a difficult few weeks, April went missing from her home on Christmas Day 2024. April had recently been kidnapped and dangled over a car park roof and then discovered the truth about how her mother Donna Windsor died. Her behaviour worsened and she has been bunking off school and drinking alcohol.

Her dad Marlon struggled to cope and prior to his daughter going missing, he snapped at her, telling her he wished she’d just fade into the background. On Christmas Day morning, Marlon went to wake April, only to discover that she wasn’t there. She was later seen waiting for a mystery person before climbing into the back of a car. There has been no sign of her since.

Emmerdale has confirmed that the story will run for weeks, with show producer Laura Shaw saying: “In the coming weeks, as the search for April intensifies, we explore the emotional turmoil a family faces when a young person goes missing. We are so grateful to the charity Missing People for their invaluable help and support with this storyline.”

But is April missing out of choice or has someone taken her?

Theories on missing April in Emmerdale

Anthony now has even more of a hold over Ruby (Credit: ITV)

    1. Anthony Fox has taken her

At the end of last year a special flashback episode revealed that Anthony sexually abused his daughter Ruby when she was a teenager. With this in mind, a theory has predicted that Anthony is to blame for teen April’s disappearance.

“Ruby’s dad the creepiest person, was that his car picking up April?” asked one viewer on X. “Anthony has got April!” another fan agreed.

Over on Facebook, a third fan said: “I’m wondering if April accepted a lift from a stranger or did she know the person, I thought it looked like Ruby’s dad from behind.”

A fourth fan agreed, writing: “Yeah it deffo looked like Ruby’s dad…”, while a fifth asked: “Why do I have a feeling Ruby’s dad is involved in April disappearance.”

    2. She’s with half-brother Scott Windsor

April’s mum, Donna, and Scott were half-siblings, both sharing the same mother, Viv Hope. Although Scott left years ago, he is often mentioned and Cathy Hope has been to stay with him recently.

However he doesn’t seem to have much to do with neice April. But could that all have changed? Fans are certainly hoping so!

“Please say April has gone to stay with Scott or Kelly and we will get a return from one of them one day,” said one.

Another queried: “I wonder if Scott picked up April last night?”

“Anyone checked with Kelly and Scott??” asked one more.

    3. Has April been groomed?

As some viewers think Anthony has taken her, others aren’t pointing the finger at him specifically, but do wonder if she’s been groomed by someone on the internet and has been taken by them.

Reckon April has been groomed. Thoughts?” shared one on social media.

    4. She’s pregnant

Another theory doing the rounds is that April is pregnant and has run away to be with the dad. It was discovered she had been prescribed the contraceptive pill (which is used to stop pregnancy, but can be inaffective) and now there is speculation she is with child.

“Is April going to turn out to be pregnant then?” asked one.

    5. Has April run away in Emmerdale due to Marlon and Laurel’s ‘affair’?

Something is going on between Marlon and Laurel and April knew about it. She had seen their mysterious texts to each other and thought they were having an affair. Marlon is convinced this is the reason she has gone. But is it really that simple? And are Laurel and Marlon actually having an affair? We think not!

    6. Does April have a secret life in Emmerdale?

Some fans think the discoveries we’re recently made about April are just the tip of the iceberg. So could she have a complete secret life?

One viewer thinks she could be working as an escort: “I think her secret life could be working as a prostitute or an escort that could explain the car picking her up as she got in the back of it.”

    7. A mental health crisis

It’s clear April is a very troubled young lady, but could she be having a mental health crisis?

“It could be something to do with mental health as birth control pills can be used to help with anxiety and depression,” said one fan, adding: “She could have PTSD or dissociative identity disorder which causes people to have a secret life.”

    8. Does Rhona know something about missing April in Emmerdale?

One fan is convinced Rhona knows more than she’s letting on about April. They commented: “Rhona seems very suspicious in all this.” Although others disagreed, someone else added they thought Rhona had called the car to collect April. Colour us intrigued.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Heartbreaking news about April as Jacob suffered the worst first day ever

Emmerdale tonight aired a dramatic standalone episode featuring Jacob’s first day in A&E and he messed up big time when he thought April had been stabbed.

Meanwhile, Sarah and Moira both found themselves at the hospital too leaving Jacob with all sorts of fires to fight.

Here’s all that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday January 2, 2025.

Jacob made a huge mistake as ‘April’ was brought in in Emmerdale tonight

Jacob’s first day quickly went wrong

Jacob met Dr Todd on his first day in A&E as he excitedly posted selfies from outside the hospital.

Things soon took a dramatic turn when a teenage stab victim was brought in and April’s bank card and purse was found on her. Jacob immediately called Marlon, who raced to the hospital desperate for news.

Jacob was in serious trouble for calling the family, Dr Todd was fuming. Despite his protestations the doctor did not want to hear it, though she allowed Jacob into the relatives’ room when she spoke to Marlon and Rhona, revealing ‘April’s’ condition was serious.

Anna arrived and told them they thought it was a street robbery gone wrong, but she intimated that April could have started it, sparking Marlon’s anger once more.

The stab victim didn’t make it

Jacob was devastated as he watched Marlon breakdown when the news was delivered that ‘April’ didn’t make it. Marlon wanted to see the body and the police asked him to make a formal identification. Fortunately it was not April. And although that was a relief, it’s even more heartbreaking for Marlon as he knows his little girl is still out there and now without her bank card or purse. Plus the police think she could be a murderer.

Meanwhile, Henry, an old man who was waiting for treatment and had been talking to Jacob throughout the day, came to offer Jacob some comfort.

It didn’t help when Dr Todd went mad at Jacob for his actions. He was in serious trouble and had broken all sorts of protocals. His future now depends on whether Marlon and Rhona make a complaint against him. Marlon was forgiving of Jacob, but Rhona wanted answers and thought he’d acted irresponsibly.

Henry once again gave Jacob some advice and told him he was a natural and should keep believing in himself. But there was more upset for Jacob later in the day when he found Henry had died.

Distraught Jacob decided this just wasn’t for him and he couldn’t finish the shift. But Dr Todd gave him some much-needed praise and talked him round to come back inside.

Sarah rushed to hospital in Emmerdale tonight

Jacob got a visit from one of his uni mates, but they were interrupted by Charity bringing a very drunk Sarah in. She’d been drinking all afternoon and collapsed as soon as she got into the waiting room. Springing into action, Jacob listened for her pulse and got her in the recovery position.

Dr Todd came along and praised Jacob for his quick-thinking and good work. Sarah was in a bad way, but she regained consciousness. It turned out she had got drunk over feeling rubbish because Jacob keeps going cold on her. Charity tried to bouy her up, but she didn’t want to hear it.

It was up to Jacob to give her some tough love. He told her about the waiting times and the amount of patients needing help and told her to try and do something with her life. She was taken aback, but will it have an affect?

Emotions ran high for Moira in Emmerdale tonight

Moira arrived with Cain for her appointment and discovered what her treatment plan will look like – six weeks of radiotherapy, five days a week. It will be daunting and gruelling. She needed to be fitted for her mask today and will start treatment on January 14. She can’t work and must rest the whole time.

Moira was forced to go in for her mask fitting alone, leaving her emotional. It left us feeling uneasy too seeing what patients undergoing this type of treatment have to go through.

Outside the room, Cain was getting angry with the vending machine, taking his frustration out on it. He encountered Henry and they began to bond. They chatted about Zak, hospitals and illnesses and clearly found a rapport. But then Cain was called away to tend to Sarah.

Moira came out of her fitting, tearful and upset, and even more so when Cain wasn’t there waiting. There is a long road ahead, but we know Moira is strong enough to make it through – or at least we hope she is…

    Rhona found out about Laurel

As they were leaving the hospital after finding out it wasn’t April who had died, Marlon was resolute he was going out searching again. Rhona pleaded with him to rest and it caused a row. Marlon’s phone fell out. Rhona picked it up and saw a message from Laurel, thanking him for keeping quiet about them… Uh oh is all we can say to that one.

‘Vile’ Anthony needs to go as Emmerdale fans vow to switch off: ‘Out goes Tom, in comes Anthony’

Emmerdale has outdone themselves with awful Anthony Fox – he is truly the most vile character ever to have set foot in the Dales. And fans agree – so much so that some are vowing to switch off over him.

It comes hot on the heels of Tom King’s comeuppance, but it seems getting rid of one abuser only for him to be replaced by another has dampened fans spirits somewhat.

    Anthony in Emmerdale

We all know now why Ruby hates her father so much. Although her family thinks it’s all down to Anthony throwing her out when she refused to have an abortion after getting pregnant at 16, we know it’s because Anthony was abusing her. And he could possibly be Steph’s father in what would be an unimaginable twist.

Instead of being honest about the truth, Ruby has long buried her secret. And she has been able to keep a lid on it due to being totally estranged from her parents.

But now her dad is back in her life – and moving in with the family – Ruby can’t cope. She has hit the bottle hard, sparking fears of an alcoholism storyline on top of everything else she’s going through. But she continues to remain tight-lipped about Anthony’s true nature, especially because her father knows about her dalliance with Cain and is blackmailing her into letting him do pretty much what he wants.

What happened in Emmerdale this week?

Anthony is a master in playing Mr Nice in public, making everyone love him, but being slimey, manipulative and snide to Ruby in private. Even worse than Tom King, who always came across as a bit sulky in public if you ask us!

Earlier this week, (Wednesday January 1) Anthony hijacked Ruby’s plans for Steph’s birthday. He insisted they all eat at The Hide instead of having the beef wellington Ruby had planned.

Ruby downed the Champagne and got drunker and drunker. Cain and Moira joined them and Anthony presented Steph with a birthday gift of a necklace. As he tried to put it on her, Ruby snapped at him touching her daughter. She insisted she would put the necklace on and then broke it. Upset Steph asked her mum to leave: Anthony won again.

He then followed Ruby home and told her he had ruined Steph’s birthday. Ruby blamed her father and he told her to take responsibility for her actions. He told her her meltdown was clearly due to guilt over Cain. Ruby couldn’t fight back, though she tried. He then insisted he would look her after leaving Ruby even more distraught.

By Friday he was playing the doting father and grandfather, fighting Ruby’s corner with Steph. He makes our skin crawl.

Fans react to Anthony in Emmerdale

He is so so awful, that viewers are struggling to watch him on screen. Just as we’ve got rid of Tom, in comes another, equally vile, if not worse human being to make watching Emmerdale uncomfortable.

“He needs to go it all needs to come out!” said one fan on social media. Another added: “Please let him get exposed for what he did to her when she was a kid. Vile excuse for a human being.”

Someone else was willing to switch off the soap over it: “I never comment on soaps but omg I don’t think I can watch any longer. Ruby’s dad is a manipulative busybody and I do not like him at all I know he’s playing a character, but playing it to well for my liking.”

“Can’t stand this storyline. Stopped watching EastEnders because it got depressing and Emmerdale is just as bad. All doom and gloom,” agreed one more.

A fifth wrote: “He needs to go. Gives me the creeps!!” And a six said: “The sooner this character goes the better, he’s absolutely vile!”

Others compared him to Tom. “We have another master manipulator, Tom’s out and Anthony is in.”

“They get rid of Tom and now this creep is in the show! How long is this going to go on for?” asked another.

Anthony’s exit can’t come soon enough. Although Ruby’s story is an important story to tell so we’re interested to see what direction this takes – and whether justice can finally be done for poor Ruby.

  • What happened between Laurel and Marlon? 3 theories over mysterious texts as fans convinced it’s not an affair

What happened between Laurel and Marlon? 3 theories over mysterious texts as fans convinced it’s not an affair

Something is going on with Laurel and Marlon in Emmerdale after mysterious texts between the two were revealed. But what is actually the truth?

As the police uncovered April talking about the messages on social media, Marlon visited Laurel and the suggestion was they had been having an affair. But fans aren’t convinced and have other theories on what really happened between them.

Laurel is angry at Marlon for spilling the beans (Credit: ITV)

What happened between Laurel and Marlon in Emmerdale?

The police investigating missing April have discovered a private social media account to which she had uploaded a lot of drunken videos. In one, she revealed she had found texts between Laurel and Marlon and thought they were having an affair.

Keeping the news quiet from Rhona, Marlon later went to see Laurel and told her April knew about them. He thinks this is why she ran off.

Laurel was furious that Marlon had shown the police their texts she begged: “Please, Marlon, if this gets out I could lose everything.” But Marlon was (understandably!) more concerned with April coming home and he didn’t care about the cost.

So just what are they hiding? While the evidence so far suggests it’s an affair, fans aren’t convinced. They think this is a red herring.

“I don’t think they had an affair,” said one on social media. Another agreed: “Hands up if you don’t think they had an affair.”

“Marlon and Laurel are not having an affair… he’s not the one scared the secret is gonna come out, she is, it’s obvious she’s hiding something so everyone needs to chill on the affair thing,” added a third.

    But what really happened?

Theories over Laurel and Marlon in Emmerdale

    1. An affair

So despite the fact viewers overwhelming think it’s not an affair, there are those that are convinced it is.

“Are Marlon and Laurel having an affair?!” questioned one. Another commented: “Oh wow. Another affair.”

“OMG SO HAVE LAUREL AND MARLON HAD AN AFFAIR,” asked another.

“Saint Marlon cheating with Laurel behind Rhona’s back, the dirty dog,” quipped a fourth.

The pair do have history. They had an affair before when Laurel was married to Ashley. Marlon and Laurel eventually got married themselves, but she developed an alcohol problem. In a drunken state she ran over his dog, Daisy, and tried to bury her without Marlon knowing. Needless to say their marriage ended pretty soon afterwards.

    Which leads us too…

    2. A drinking relapse

Laurel has been off the booze for quite some time and has stayed strong. But after a tough year that saw a messy divorce from Jai Sharma, could she have hit the bottle again? Some seem to think so.

“I feel like Laurel relapsed and went to Marlon,” shared one fan.

Another asked: “Did Laurel get drunk and make a move on Marlon?”

“Has Laurel relapsed?” questioned one more, while a fourth added: “No affair, wonder if she’s been drinking she’s had a lot going on.”

    3. A secret baby?

Many are confused over the fact Laurel was recently sleeping with vicar Charles. Has she used Marlon as a confessional after her fling left her with a surprising result?

“The scriptwriters are making it sound worse than it is. I’m convinced that it’s because Laurel confided in Marlon about doing the horizontal tango with the Vicar Charles,” said one.

Another took it further: “I think she’s pregnant from her night with Charles.”

However, she sabotages the factory computer so the pair are unable to check their investments. Pearl then comes up with another plan and borrows money from Danny, claiming it’s for an anniversary present for Len. Will her lies catch up with her?

Belle exposes Shadrach’s scheming in Classic Emmerdale

The Chugspokes go on the truffle hunt alone when Shadrach fakes a sore leg. He then races off to find their secret stash before Beryl and Barney are caught by the ground keepers. Beryl is suspicious of Shadrach and his scheming, but Zak and Lisa are pleased with him for it.

However, soon Belle uncovers Shadrach’s involvement in the truffle scam. She subjects him to questioning and finally gets a confession out of him that he planned to steal Petal.

Belle tells the rest of the Dingles what Shadrach was up to with her pig and he is dealt a very fitting punishment from the Dingle court.

4 Spoilers for New Year’s Day in Emmerdale: Ruby hits the bottle and Jacob makes amends

After the dramatic flashforwards of New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day kicks off in Emmerdale tonight and spoilers reveal it’s a quiet one for Moira and Cain. Ruby, on the other hand, can’t stop drinking as she clearly continues to struggle.

Elsewhere, Jacob and Sarah try to get back on track and Bob breaks down. Here’s everything going on in Emmerdale spoilers for tonight.

    1. Ruby can’t cope

Ruby has been struggling with her dad’s presence ever since he arrived. Viewers know why after a flashback revealed he had sexually abused her as a child. He is also potentially Steph’s father. However, no one in Emmerdale knows the truth and she is battling to keep it hidden.

But now he’s announced he’s staying, and he’s moving into The Mill with the family. Anthony knows about Ruby’s hook-up with Cain and so can pretty much do what he likes or else he will reveal all. The villagers all think he’s wonderful after he donated £5000 to the fund to find missing April and Ruby is completely trapped.

So she does what only she can do: downs Champagne to block it all out. But will it help?

    2. A quiet one for Cain and Moira in Emmerdale spoilers for tonight

Facing an uncertain future, Cain and Moira want to have a quiet lunch together. She has a hospital appointment tomorrow to go over her radiotherapy treatment.

Both hiding their nerves, they book a quiet meal just the two of them ahead of the appointment. Will Cain be able to hide his guilt through it though?

    3. Jacob and Sarah try again

After their aborted lunch date thanks to Leyla’s meddling, Jacob realises he has to put things right. He apologises to Sarah for standing her up.

The pair reconcile and she agrees to another date. But will Leyla step in and ruin this one too?

    4. The anniversary of Heath’s death hits hard in Emmerdale spoilers

It’s been one year since Heath Hope went joyriding with his sister Cathy and friend Angelica King. Angelica was driving and crashed the car, leaving Heath dead. Angelica has just been released from serving her time for causing his death.

As Heath’s anniversary arrives, it hits Bob hard. Especially with April still missing, he is unable to cope. Breaking down, will anyone support him?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Chilling flashforwards, Anthony’s discovery and Marlon’s fear

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Chilling flashforwards, Anthony’s discovery and Marlon’s fear

Emmerdale tonight saw five flashforwards mark the start of 2025 – and it doesn’t look good for all of the Dales residents. Meanwhile, Anthony found out a secret and Marlon continued to fear for April’s safety.

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday December 31.

Anthony certainly made his presence felt in Emmerdale tonight

    Ruby confessed the truth

Anthony and Cain had a ‘chat’ about yesterday’s altercation. Anthony then went to see Ruby and made even more snide comments about her and Cain. He questioned how long they had been sleeping together, but Ruby stormed off, leaving Anthony more sure than ever he was right.

Anthony persisted and persisted and so Ruby poured herself another drink. He pushed and pushed that Ruby was all over Cain and was still sleeping with him. Ruby cracked and confessed that she had slept with Cain once and it was a mistake. Anthony was gleeful at his discovery and Ruby broke down after he left, knowing she had really messed up.

Smashing a glass into the sink, Ruby was sobbing as she cleared up. She called Cain, who came round and she confessed Anthony knew everything. He was furious with Ruby’s stupidity.

    Anthony made two announcements

Ruby’s dad then decided to make a speech in the pub, leaving Cain and Ruby shaking with fear. It looked like he was about to reveal their affair, but actually he told everyone he was donating £5000 to the April search fund. Leaving the whole pub cheering and clapping him. He really has made himself at home.

Cain and Anthony then had another altercation outside the toilets, but Anthony once again made it clear he was not to be messed with and he held all the cards. He then announced he was moving into Mill Cottage with the family and Ruby knew she could not say anything. Despite her obvious discomfort, she reasoned he’d be dead soon so it didn’t matter. But she clearly isn’t going to cope with this at all.

Marlon blamed everyone in Emmerdale tonight

Furious Marlon quizzed Manpreet over prescribing April the contraceptive pill. She refused to tell him anything due to legal patient confidentiality. Marlon was blaming everyone around him and then turned his attention to Cathy, asking who April was sleeping with. But she spat back that the reason April could have been on the pill might not have been due to sex. She also reminded Marlon it was the anniversary of Heath’s death, making him feel terrible.

Rhona meanwhile, questioned Arthur, who knew nothing either.

Marlon went home to see Leo and discovered his son had found April’s missing poster. They had not told Leo what had happened, but Marlon was forced to confess. In a tearful scene, Marlon tried to explain to Leo what was going on. He promised to bring April home, but can he make good on that?

    Joe made enemies

At Home Farm, Joe was playing the doting step-grandson, looking after Kim. Dawn was still suspicious of him, but Joe told her he could trust him – ha!

At the graveyard they were picking Will’s plot when Caleb came across them. He and Joe met and worked out they were uncle and nephew. But there was already no love lost between them. And as Joe made derogatory remarks about the Dingles, half-brother Noah overheard and stormed off.

They relocated to the pub, but Kim did not join them. Dawn was grateful for everyone’s condolences, but Joe continued to make enemies of everybody, rowing with every Dingle he came across. Not doing the best job of proving to Dawn he’s a good guy, eh?!

Five flashforwards revealed the future in Emmerdale tonight

The village celebrated New Year in the pub as the countdown to midnight began. Charles gave a toast to those we’ve lost this year including Will, Ethan and Zak.

As they counted from 10, we saw several flashforwards to what the future holds for the residents of Emmerdale.

First up, Mack was running through the woods looking worried and clearly needing to get somewhere fast. Not a very interesting one to be honest, but suggests Mack will continue to be central to all storylines next year. Sigh.

Then we focused on Caleb lying on an operating table flatlining. Next up was Cain, dressed for a funeral and sobbing at someone’s graveside – Caleb’s? Or someone else’s?.

Fourthly, a body wrapped in a tarpaulin and chains was pushed by a mystery gloved hand into the water. And finally, perhaps most chillingly, an icy river with a hand bashing against the surface, trapped and desperate to get out.

What does all this mean? Who is dead, who will survive? It’s set to be a very dramatic New Year in Emmerdale and we can’t wait!

  • 6 questions we have after those Emmerdale flashforward scenes

6 questions we have after those Emmerdale flashforward scenes

Emmerdale has just aired five huge flashforwards for what’s coming up in 2025 and we have some questions. Mainly, who, what, why and when! But we’ll break it down!

We know three of the flashforward involve Cain, Caleb and Mack (yawn!), however, we do not know the identities of who is in the other two. But we can see there’s plenty of drama ahead!

    Emmerdale airs five flashforwards

So as the countdown to midnight began in the Woolpack on New Year’s Eve, we first focused on Mackenzie. Counting down with Charity and Noah, it then flashed on his future, running furiously through the woods, clearly trying to get somewhere fast.

The second glimpse of what’s to come was Caleb, flatlining on an operating table. And then we cut to Cain crying at someone’s graveside.

The final two flashforwards were equally cryptic if not more so – one featured a body bag being pushed into the river and another was a hand trapped under an icy lake bashing the surface.

So you can see why we have questions! This is everything we need to know.

    1. What’s happened to Caleb and does he die?

Seen hooked up to hospital machinery, something is clearly very wrong with Caleb. But what? Is it an illness? Or has he been hurt in an accident, or perhaps attacked?

Whatever has happened, it does not look good as he soon flatlines. Can he be brought back to life?

“I can’t cope if anything happens to Caleb!” screamed one fan on social media. Neither can we!

    2. Who is Cain mourning?

Cain is stood alone at a graveside. He is wearing a funeral suit and the grave is freshly dug with flowers on it. As Cain looks troubled and then breaks down, it’s not obvious whose grave it is. But Cain wouldn’t cry over just anyone, would he?

Is it Caleb’s grave – is Cain simply mourning his brother? Or has Cain somehow caused Caleb’s death and the guilt is overwhelming?

Or could it be *whispers it* Moira? Please not Moira! After her recent brain surgery, she still has to undergo radiotherapy. Could something go terribly wrong?

Eagle-eyed fans on social media think the flowers have spelled out ‘Mum’, but others insist that’s not right and they definitely don’t – and we just can’t work it out.

Here’s a curveball though: what if it’s related to the long-held theory that Nate Robinson, Cain’s son who’s supposedly in Shetland, is actually dead?

The body bag will surface (Credit: ITV)

    3. Who is in the body bag in the Emmerdale flashforwards?

This could be anybody. Literally anybody. We don’t know who’s pushing it into the water, so can’t even say which family in Emmerdale it involves!

April is missing – has she met a grisly fate? Or could it be related to the whole Joe Tate return? Claire King has said she’s ready for Kim to kill again, so could this be her doing?

Or what about Ella Forster? She is leaving the soap and has killed before. Will she do so again before she goes?

We have nothing to go on whatsoever here, so these are all just guesses – we need to know!

    4. Who is in the icy lake?

The hand bashing against the ice was probably the most chilling part of the Emmerdale flashforwards. Someone is trapped and it looks cold and dark and isolated, so do they have any hope of getting out? Not likely!

Reports have suggested this is how Leyla Harding will meet her maker. The Sun has suggested the terrifying scenes, filmed just before Christmas, will see Leyla and two other women trapped in a car as it sinks into a frozen lake.

Sources have told the publication that Emmerdale pulled out all the stops. This included covering a field with candle wax in order to make it look like a frozen lake.

An insider said: “It’s a nightmare scenario and everything was done to make sure this was a scene with real impact. Hours were spent creating a layer of ice. Then the actors spent hours out on the frozen field in the pitch black trying to do the storyline justice.”

    So is this Leyla’s exit?

    5. Where is Mack going?

This one was a little dull to be honest! Mackenzie running through the woods looking a bit stressed. There was no one else with him – so is he running to find someone or running away from someone – or something?

We’re struggling to care too much about this – Mack’s done himself no favours lately, so unless he’s rushing to save one of our faves, we’ll just wait to see on this one.

    6. Are all the flashforwards in Emmerdale connected?

There were five of them, seemingly focusing on different characters, but are they all connected?

For example: Is Mack racing to find Caleb, who is then rushed to hospital, dies and Cain cries at his grave? Then Cain gets revenge on his killer by plunging them in a body bag in a lake, but the person gets free just as the lake freezes over and can’t get out? See what we mean? Is there a connection here?

Or are these five completely different storylines that will have us equally gripped in 2025?
