Fans ‘absolutely thrilled’ over Ross Barton return

Soap fans have been rejoicing after finding out Ross Barton is on his way back to Emmerdale. The iconic character, played by Mike Parr, exited the village six years ago but is now due to make a shock comeback.

Following the announcement, Emmerdale fans have revealed they are “thrilled” to welcome Ross back to the soap, and there’s no doubt his return will stir up some drama.

It has been confirmed that Ross will be making a return to Emmerdale, with actor Mike Parr reprising the role after a six-year break. A specific date is yet to be confirmed, but soap bosses said Ross will appear on-screen later this year.

Ross is the son of James and Emma Barton. He the brother of Pete and Finn, and half-brother of Adam Barton. Ross is father to Moses Dingle, who he shares with Charity Dingle.

The character exited in 2018 in a bid to start a new life in Liverpool with girlfriend Rebecca White. It has not been revealed what brings Ross back to the village.

Speaking about his return, actor Mike said: â€œIâ€™m over the moon to be returning to Emmerdale. Ross is a character Iâ€™m extremely fond of and Iâ€™m excited to explore what heâ€™s been up to over the past five years. After seeing the scripts, I canâ€™t wait for the audience to see whatâ€™s in store. One thing I can say is Rossâ€™s return will no doubt create fireworks.â€

Fans ‘thrilled’ by Ross’ comeback

Understandably, Emmerdale fans have been left overjoyed by the news of Ross’ return. Many took to social media share their excitement following the soap’s announcement.

“Ross returning to the village – kinda loving it #emmerdale,” one person wrote on X, while a second added: “Ross Barton is back!! Didn’t expect to see him back….but I’m absolutely thrilled he is!”Â

Another branded it “great news”, while a fourth commented: “Either way, I’m excited to have Ross back! I absolutely love his character! His dry sense of humour, sarcasm, one linersâ€¦. Topped off with his gorgeous looks! woohooo!!!!”Â

“This is amazing news!!!! I’ve missed Ross so much! I can’t wait to see him back!!” another fan wrote. A final Emmerdale viewer added: “ROSS BARTON RETURNING TO Â @emmerdale IS THE BEST NEWS!!!! Â Emmerdale hasn’t been the same without him!! He’s the best soap character and I can’t wait to see him back!!!! Emmerdale is officially back on top with Ross back!!”Â

Fans shocked over Sharon Maughanâ€™s appearance in Emmerdale: â€˜Hardly recognised herâ€™

Emmerdale fans were given a brief insight into Ruby‘s backstory in Tuesday’s episode, as Caleb went to visit her estranged mum in the hospital. Viewers were introduced to Helen, played by actress Sharon Maughan.

Helen made it clear she is keen to reconnect with Ruby, following many years of no contact. However, it seemed like Caleb wasn’t in favour of welcoming her back into their lives. A dodgy money deal followed, but it remains to be seen what Ruby will think of her mum coming back into her life.

Emmerdale fans were more distracted by actress Sharon’s appearance however, with many failing to recognise the star. Here’s everything you need to know about Helen’s arrival in Emmerdale.

Sharon Maughan’s Emmerdale debut

Emmerdale viewers were introduced to Ruby’s estranged mum, Helen, in recent scenes. Helen is ill and currently residing in hospital.Â Caleb paid her a secret visit, where Helen revealed she regrets being estranged from her daughter and she is now divorced from Ruby’s dad.

Caleb and Helen argued over Ruby, who is unaware her husband has been to visit her mum.Â Eventually, Caleb struck up in a deal with his mother-in-law. He said he’d bring Ruby to see Helen if she will send him Â£100,000, which she agreed to.

However, Caleb could be seen riddled with guilt as he returned home and reflected on the deal he’d just made. Despite this, he still didn’t mention anything to Ruby, who was suspicious of his unexplained late arrival home.

Fans brand Sharon ‘unrecognisable’

Emmerdale fans were left taken aback after realising it was Sharon, 74, portraying Ruby’s ill mum. Following Tuesday evening’s episode, viewers shared their shock over Sharon’s transformation, with some even questioning if it was really her.

Taking to social media, one person pondered: “She looks like the woman off the Nescafe ads from the 80s/90s , Sharon Maughan,” while a second added: “I was thinking the same thing, l wonder if it is her, Sharon Maughan.”

Somebody else pointed out that the make-up team will have been busy getting Sharon into character. The fan added: “They’ve probably made her look worse as she’s supposed to be dying!”

Another simply pointed out: “The wonderful Sharon Maughan.”

“Gosh, I didn’t recognise her,” exclaimed another. A further user commented: “So different, I didn’t recognise her at all.”

Someone else wrote: “I was trying all the time Emmerdale was on to work out where I knew her from!”

Others instantly recognised Sharon from her appearances in adverts for NescafÃ© in the 1980s. The actress has also starred in TV shows including Casualty and Heartbeat, as well as film The Bank Job. Of course, she is perhaps best-known to soap fans as Tricia in Holby City.

What do we know about Ruby’s mum?

It has been confirmed that Helen will appear in a limited number of episodes.

Actor William Ash, who plays Caleb, has shed some light on Helen’s arrival. He shared some insight into Ruby and Helen’s relationship, as well as Caleb’s issues with his mother-in-law.

Speaking during a virtual press conference, the actor said: “So, Ruby and Caleb don’t have any relationship with Ruby’s mum at all. Basically, what her mum and her dad did, when Ruby and Caleb got together, when they were about 17, they really disliked Caleb. They hated him because he’d come out of a care home and didn’t have any family. I think they just thought he was beneath their daughter.

“So, Helen was really snobby and judgemental. Helen and Ruby’s dad gave Ruby an ultimatum,” William continued. “They basically said ‘look if you want to be with this boy then we don’t want anything to do with you’. They basically just cut Ruby dead.”

It was revealed last night that Helen had offered Caleb money to break up with Ruby. She’d then tried to force her daughter to have an abortion when she fell pregnant and when Ruby refused had cut her off completely.

As Ruby receives a Glasgow Kiss, hereâ€™s a look at Moiraâ€™s best showdowns

Ruby is the latest Emmerdale resident to become a victim of Moira Dingle’s anger, as she is treated to a classic Soapland-style headbutt in Wednesday’s episode (September 4.)Â Moira becomes convinced Ruby is trying to seduce Cain and sees red, which is a common theme for her at the moment.

Ruby isn’t the only one to be targeted by Moira’s head over the years, as Charity also once received a headbutt. Elsewhere, plenty of Emmerdale residents have been at the receiving end of one of Moira’s slaps and some have even had the farmer point a gun at them.

Here, we take a look at some of Moira’s best showdowns over the years on Emmerdale.

Moira headbutts Ruby in Emmerdale

She’s been acting erratic for weeks now, with her husband Cain bearing the brunt of most of Moira’s outbursts. However, Moira has a new target this week, in the form of Ruby.

In Wednesday’s episode (4 September), she heads round to Ruby’s house and accuses her of trying to seduce Cain. Baffled by the accusations, Ruby attempts to defuse the situation.

As Cain and Caleb arrive, Moira proceeds to headbutt Ruby. She falls onto the sofa, covering her face in pain as Cain and Caleb watch on in horror. Cain rushes to restrain Moira and later leads her away, before demanding to know what is going on with her. Oh, wouldn’t we all like to know the answer to that one?!

Charity’s ‘gift from Glasgow’

Ruby isn’t the first Emmerdale resident to get a headbutt off Moira. Back in 2017, she took aim at Charity while the pair were embroiled in an argument over Debbie.

Charity ripped into Moira during the scene. She mocked her job as a farmer and brought up Cain’s affair, before impersonating her Scottish accent. Moira responded with a simple headbutt, declaring it to be a “gift from Glasgow.” This scene will forever go down in soap history as one of the most iconic showdowns of all time (well, at least we think so!)

Emmerdale Moira showdown: Emma’s death

Moira’s biggest showdown occurred in 2017, when she killed Emma Barton. She and Emma hadn’t seen eye-to-eye for a long while.

Emma had attempted to murder Moira by starting a fire in a barn (oh, how history is about to repeat itself with this one next week) but Emma ended up rescuing her as she went into labour. Emma then tried to steal Moira’s baby, Isaac. Moira also found out that Emma was the one who shot her nephew Finn (bless Finn.)

All of this led to a huge showdown between Moira and Emma on the bridge. While Moira urged Emma to tell the truth, Emma lashed out and began taunting her about Holly’s death. Moira then pushed Emma off the bridge, resulting in her death.

Back in 2015, Moira found out Cain and Chrissie had shared a kiss. If you don’t know what happened next, we’re sure you have a good idea!

As Chrissie and Robert were rowing about their failed marriage, Moira conveniently drove past. She marched up to Chrissie, while Cain watched, and punched her straight in the face.

Chrissie was knocked onto the bonnet of a car while Robert restrained Moira.Â She proceeded to scream and shout at both Cain and Chrissie, before driving off in her car – simply iconic!

Emmerdale Moira showdown: The Chas Dingle slap

Loyal Emmerdale fans will recall the moment Moira took on Chas in 2012. Moira confronted Chas after becoming convinced Chas was sleeping with her husband John.

Chas was quick to lay out the facts to Moira. She stated she hadn’t slept with John but made no secret of them flirting, before bringing up Moira’s affair with Cain and pointing out the irony.

Moira slapped Chas round the face, but Chas remained unfazed. She informed Moira she would “knock her into next week” if she touched her again. We look forward to Chas Vs. Moira round two!

Kim and Jamie held at gunpoint in Emmerdale

In 2021, Moira decided she’d had enough of Kim and Jamie. She headed round to Home Farm with her shotgun and held them both at gunpoint to make sure they knew she meant business.

Kim was in the middle of a business meeting and unsurprisingly she didn’t secure the deal. She was largely unfazed by Moira’s threats, and the gun pointed at her forehead, but Jamie was terrified.

Moira shot a vase to make them both know she was serious about using her gun. However, she pretended to shoot Kim but the other barrel wasn’t loaded. Moira informed Kim and Jamie that next time things would be worse, before making a dramatic exit.

Emmerdale Moira showdown: Moira Vs. Kim

There’s few people that would cross Kim Tate, but Moira has never been afraid to take on the scheming matriarch.

In 2019, Moira barged into Home Farm and proceeded to pin Kim against the wall. She demanded to know what Kim was up to after apparently getting the police off Cain’s back. Kim was unaware of the situation, but hid this from Moira and continued to antagonise her.

8 Emmerdale spoilers next week: A huge explosion wrecks havoc, Moira freaks out and Nate loses everything

Emmerdale spoilers for next week reveal a huge explosion takes place at a barn, following a terrifying outburst by Moira. She and Ruby have another showdown, but things soon take a turn for the worse when Moira picks up a shotgun…

Elsewhere, Cain disowns Nate after finding out about his “betrayal.” Tracy also hears of the news and feels rather icky about giving Nate another chance.

1. Cain is reeling

Caleb confronts Nate about what he saw with Moira, and Tracy is totally heartbroken to hear what happened as Caleb reveals all. Before long, Cain arrives and doesn’t give his son any time to explain the situation. Cain snaps and punches Nate to the floor… (and we’re thrilled that Cain’s violent side is making a return…)

2. Nate loses everything in Emmerdale spoilers

Tracy begs Cain to stop (it takes Cain some time but he eventually stops with the violence.) He then disowns Nate and walks out in quite the strop. Upset, Tracy tells Nate she can no longer go to Shetland with him before allowing Nate to say goodbye to Frankie… Is this really the end for Nate and Tracy?

3. Cain Vs. Moira – again

Moiraâ€™s not chuffed to hear about Cain’s latest fight. Feeling a little bit of Deja vu, Moira then gives Cain a good slap!Â

4. Moira and Ruby’s showdown

Ruby turns up at the barn and gets on the wrong side of a confused Moira. Moira then spills tractor fuel in the barn, and soon mistakes Rubyâ€™s voice as that of the late (and super creepy) Emma Bartonâ€™s. She then panics and lifts a shotgun, ready to shoot. Padlocking the barn, Moira’s out to kill “Emma” for a second time…

5. Chaos at the barn

Moira fires a warning shot into the air but things go really wrong (and, we mean, REALLY wrong!) The shot hits a light bulb and creates a spark. Ruby then receives a blow to head after fighting with Moira over the shotgun. Trying to process everything, Moira realises what she’s done as she stares at Ruby’s body. The situation soon escalates when the spark catches the tractor fuel, sending the barn into flames. Dramatic stuff!

6. A huge explosion strikes

Seeing the smoke coming from the barn at a distance, Mack tries to get in touch with Moira. With no luck, he hurries to the quad bike parked nearby. Mack and John then both prepare to head inside the burning barn. Listening to a phone call from Mack, Cain, Caleb and Chas find out about the fire and rush towards it.

7. A race against time

Cain, despite his current anger with his wife, races to the burning barn, but Chas tries to hold him back from dashing inside to get to his wife. Before long, a huge explosion throws them all to the ground. BOOM!Â

8. Will’s blackmailer is left hanging

Willâ€™s on edge to hear from the blackmailer and prepares to look them in the eye. He then waits in a lay-by for the blackmailer, but soon finds out about the fire from Caleb and rushes off to help, hiding his blackmail money.

Will misses the drop. Later, a call and threatening message from his blackmailer leaves Will struggling to control his fear as he tries to help the Dingles in the barn. But, can any of Will’s problems be rectified?

Proceed with caution: Emmerdale MUST NOT kill Moira off in worrying new storyline

In Emmerdale, Moira has been acting erratically for weeks now and we’ve all been wondering – along with Cain – what on earth is wrong with her? There’s been speculation about her health and following a sudden seizure in Tuesday’s episode (August 27), it appears she is suffering from an undiagnosed health problem.

While we’re yet to find out what’s really wrong with Moira, we do know that we definitely don’t want Emmerdale to kill her off.

Emmerdale: Moira suffers a seizure

Over recent weeks, Moiraâ€™s behaviour has created some concerns from her loved ones. Sheâ€™s been turning to drink and falling asleep on the sofa, as well as lashing out at Cain regularly.

During Tuesday’s episode, Moira was seen entering the barn alone before she took a funny turn. She collapsed and proceeded to have a seizure in shock scenes.

But, whatâ€™s the matter with her?

Does Moira have a brain tumour?

Following Moira’s erratic behaviour and sudden seizure, it seems likely she may be facing health issues. Emmerdale fans have now predicted she could have an undiagnosed brain tumour.

Should this be true, we hope it doesn’t spark the end of Moira – she’s a huge part of Emmerdale!

Fans have been sharing their thoughts on social media, with many hoping soap bosses aren’t planning to kill Moira off in this new storyline.

“If Emmerdale Moira does have a brain tumour I will not be ok. If they kill Moira off I will riot,” one person stated on social media, while a second penned: “Really hope we don’t have to say goodbyes to Moira, or watch Cain lose her! Love this couple.”

A final fan added: “Oh no, I’d heard rumours Moira was leaving. Is this a fatal brain tumour, maybe?”

We have to agree with fans, things are looking rather bleak for our favourite farmer. But, Emmerdale better be careful, because if there are plans to kill off Moira, we won’t be pleased!

Hereâ€™s why Kim Tateâ€™s time at Home Farm may just be over

Home Farm has proven to be a popular place to stay for many Emmerdale residents over recent years, but Kim Tate has now been left in the property nearly alone.

Following the exit of Dawn and Billy, as well as Rose’s disappearance, there’s only Kim and Will left in Home Farm (well, when Kim’s not living it up in Dubai). The house tends to occupied by a family due to its huge size, so could Kim be set to give up her beloved home soon?

Will Kim Tate leave Home Farm?

Home Farm had been full up until recent weeks. Following plenty of drama, Dawn and Billy have chosen to move out of the house and into Holdgate.

Meanwhile, Rose has disappeared so she’s not currently living there. This leaves just Will and Kim in the house, but Kim is currently away on a work trip.

Home Farm is THE largest property in the village, with it having been home to many families over the years. With the property now only being occupied by two people – who are undoubtedly set to break-up sooner rather than later (oh come on, we can all see it coming) – could we see Kim decide to leave? She did look rather comfortable at the B&B recently…

Or could we see her joined by a new housemate? Any takers?!

Home Farm ownership over the years

Luxurious Home Farm has been home to several families over the years. The first family to ever occupy the property was the Verneys and it was known as Miffield Hall at the time.

The house was then snapped up by NY Estates, who renamed it Home Farm. 10 years later, the first Tate family moved into Home Farm when Frank took ownership of the property. They stayed there until 2005, when the Kings took over. The Wylde family then enjoyed a stint at the house, followed by the Maceys and then the Whites.

However, in 2018, the Tate family took back the property with Joe officially claiming ownership. When Kim returned to the village she took up residence at Home Farm and has remained there ever since.

But… a certain someone has been desperate to build a bigger and better version of Home Farm (cough, cough, Caleb). So, could he soon sweep the huge house away from Kim and claim it as his own?

How extortionate! Emmerdale fans in disbelief over how much it costs to live in the village

Emmerdale fans have been left stunned after finding out much it costs to live in the village. In Tuesday’s episode (August 27), Dawn and Billy got set to move into Holdgate after leaving Home Farm.

During an exchange with Jai, it was revealed exactly how much Dawn and Billy will be forking out on a monthly basis to pay for the property. Fans were left in disbelief by the extortionate figure – and so were we!

In Tuesday’s episode, Dawn and Billy put their plans into action after deciding to move out of Home Farm. Following plenty of drama with Rose, Will and Kim, Dawn decided she wanted to leave the home.

As a result, she and Billy will now be renting Holdgate from Jai. He revealed the property was partly-furnished and ready immediately for the couple and their kids to move into. A quick turnaround then?!

Dawn handed over the signed contract along with a brown envelope containing a WHOPPING Â£10,000 in cash, stating this would cover four months worth of rent. This means it costs Â£2,500 per month to live at Holdgate before bills?! Wowzers!

Emmerdale fans react to village rent prices

Emmerdale fans were left shocked by Jai’s rental price for Holdgate Farm, with many surprised to learn it would cost over Â£2,000 per month to live in the village – before any other bills are added. Taking to social media, dozens of soap viewers pointed out how extortionate the price seemed, especially considering the property is located in a small village.

“Â£10k for 4 months rent? Meaning Â£2500 a month for rent! In a village, not a big city nor is it a mansion,” one person wrote on X, while another said: “10k for 4 months rent?”

A third Emmerdale fan added: “Did Dawn just give Jai 10 grand and say that’s 4 months rent?” Meanwhile, a final fan said: “Â£2,500 a month to live beside the Dingles.”

1. Will calls ‘Rose’

Having reached the conclusion that his tormentor has to be Rose, Will calls the mystery number. He seethes down the phone to ‘Rose’, telling her to give it up. Jimmy is aghast by Will’s brazen approach.

However, Will then sees a video of Rose in Ibiza and realises the phone didn’t ring with an international dial tone (hmmm…) He and Jimmy are both confused by who the caller could be and Will is left worrying about his life being ruined.

2. Will is blackmailed

Jimmy shows Will an email on the work account. He’s left furious as he’s faced with porn images with his and Rose’s faces on them. Jimmy encourages him to go to the police.

3. Tracy finds out about Nate’s new job in Emmerdale spoilers

Meanwhile, Nate tells Mack he’s been offered a job in Scotland and must make a decision by the following day. Nate is torn over the decision.

Shortly after, he shares the news with Tracy. Neither Nate nor Tracy are willing to admit their feelings to one another. As a result, Nate keeps quiet, pretending not to be upset.

4. Tom threatens Belle

Belle is left devastated when she receives an email informing her there will be no disclosure following her Clare’s Law Application. Tom watches via his secret cameras, delighted by the news and basking in Belle’s distress.

Afterwards, Tom makes a coded comment to Belle. This alerts Belle to the fact Tom knows about the results of her private email. He reminds her of some exposing photographs he could release of her, leaving Belle stunned.

5. Tom gets a taste of his own medicine

After realising the password to access her photos has been charged, Belle is left feeling distraught. However, she decides to fight back against Tom (YESSS, you teach him a lesson Belle!)

Belle forms a plan to steal Tom’s tablet in a bid to give him a taste of his own medicine. Before long, Tom is confronted by Belle in the Woolpack.

5. Amelia reveals her new romance in Emmerdale spoilers

Surprisingly, Amelia reveals she and Tom are now in a relationship (seriously girl?!) She says it’s early days and they’ve been seeing each other for a couple of weeks.

As a result of Amelia’s announcement, Belle and Lydia are both left speechless by the news and Belle is terrified for Amelia’s safety.

Later on, Tom lets himself into Belle’s home using his key and Belle warns him to leave Amelia alone.

6. Belle’s haunted

The day after her run in with Tom, Belle leaves her house in a trance-like state and wanders down Main Street. She is haunted by her imagined futures.

In this special episode focusing on Belle’s choices (ooh, we do love a good special episode), will she find the courage to open up about the abuse she’s faced?

7. Moira sees red

When Moira spots Cain and Ruby bantering, along with Ruby giving Cain’s arm a squeeze, she sees red. Moira barges into Mill Cottage and accuses Ruby of trying to sleep with Cain.Â Ruby is baffled by Moira’s actions.

Shortly after Cain and Caleb arrive, Moira headbutts Ruby with Cain having to restrain her (Moira’s the Queen of the Glasgow Kiss and we can’t wait for this one!) Eventually, Moira is taken away by Cain, while Caleb promises a furious Ruby he will sort it all out.

8. Cain is frustrated

Following Moira’s actions at Butlers, Cain demands to know what is going on with his wife. He soon realises she’s forgotten to go for her blood tests.

As a result, Cain storms out, while Moira is left feeling confused and upset.

10. Frankie’s missing

Meanwhile, Tracy and Nate are left panicked when they cannot locate Frankie and realise they don’t know where she’s gone. Before long, Tracy decides it’s time to call the police.

Moira and Cain have been at each other’s throats for a while now, but it doesn’t look like their arguments are going to stop anytime soon.

Emmerdale just confirmed Piper the Dog’s real fate – and now we can finally sleep at night

Piper the Dog’s real fate has been confirmed in Emmerdale – and she’s alive! The adorable pup was believed to be dead after evil Tom deliberately ran her over, but it’s now been revealed she’s OK.

While Piper appears to have some injuries, at least she’s still with us. However, it remains to be seen if Belle will ever be reunited with her beloved dog.

What happened to Piper?

Evil Tom has used Piper as a weapon against Belle ever since they got married. He knows how much Belle loves Piper, so has been deliberately mean to the poor dog. He previously locked her outside while he and Belle were in Wales and also once injected Piper to make her seem unwell.

In recent scenes, Tom deliberately hit Piper with his car while no one was around. He took her from Lydia and Sam’s house while they were out at the pub with Belle.

He then used Piper’s injuries as a way to get Belle to speak to him. Tom assured Belle he would do all he could to save Piper, however the following day he informed Belle that Piper was going to have to be put down.Â In heartbreaking scenes, Belle bid farewell to her beloved dog.

It wasn’t long until she came to the conclusion that Tom was to blame for Piper’s death. However, no one would listen to Belle’s accusations and instead took Tom’s side. How awful!

Emmerdale confirms Piper the Dog’s fate

Despite Piper having been ‘buried’ in heartbreaking scenes, it’s now been confirmed that she’s alive and well.

In a shock twist in Wednesday’s episode (August 21), Tom was seen handing over Piper to an unknown couple. The pair seemed to think they were rescuing the dog, seemingly unaware that Piper had actually been taken from Belle.

Tom made out that Piper’s previous owner was a horrible woman who had neglected the little dog. Can this guy stoop any lower?!

Meanwhile, Belle is unaware her dog is alive and still believes she buried her. However, she is convinced Tom is responsible for what happened to Piper and appears determined to expose him once and for all. Go Belle!
