Classic Emmerdale spoilers: Steph is taken to hospital, Jean and Terry take things further, and Ivan makes a deal

In Classic Emmerdale spoilers for episodes airing on ITV3 on Tuesday December 3, Steph spills the beans about Terence’s death, Jean and Terry take things further, and Ivan makes a deal with Matthew.

These episodes originally aired on May 18 and 19, 2006.

    A shock for Steph!

Adam is desperate to stop Steph confessing to Terence’s murder, but she won’t listen. When they go round to see Alan, Steph blurts out that she killed her brother. Upset, Alan lets her lead him through the woods to show him where they buried the body, but a chilling shock is waiting for them.

    Jean’s getting frisky

Jean enjoys her date with Tom but cuts the evening short. She goes to see Terry and tells him she understands that Dawn would be hurt to know they are together. But they end up in bed together and when Jean returns home, flushed and happy, Dawn assumes it’s because of Tom!

Steph lashes out in Classic Emmerdale

The next day, Steph hasn’t slept and Adam suggests that she might need psychiatric help. Steph lashes out at Adam, and Alan realises that perhaps Adam is right. A psychiatrist confirms Adam’s diagnosis of Steph and explains she needs to stay in hospital for observation.

As Adam and Alan leave, Steph breaks down and Alan finds it hard to say goodbye to his sobbing daughter. And Adam too is beginning to struggle as the enormity of what he’s done hits him.

Ivan complains to Matthew about working for the Kings and says if there’s a job going with Matthew, he’ll take it for the chance to annoy Carl into the bargain!

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Eric gambled his life away and Angelica started to scheme

Emmerdale tonight saw Eric lose everything as his crypto currency gamble fell apart, as Brenda realised her account had been cleaned out, too.

And instead of ‘fessing up to his wife-to-be, Pollard decided to gamble even more. Will he end up regretting it?

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Monday December 2.

Pollard lost everything in Emmerdale tonight

Eric was confused when the increase in crypto wasn’t showing on his account and tried to get hold of his advisor. And when he wasn’t available, Eric started to worry – only to fret even more when Noah admitted he’d only invested £100 in crypto because he was too sensible to risk losing more.

Later, Brenda found a wedding dress, but when she went to pay for it with her savings, her card was declined. Confused, she told Leyla her account had thousands in it and headed off to phone the bank.

But as she reached number nine in the queue to speak to someone, she got home and filled Eric in. He told her it was a technical glitch and said it would be sorted.

In desperation Eric turned to the racing pages of the newspaper, hoping to win back the money he’d lost, when he was interrupted by Liam who clocked him taking cash from the till.

Liam returned to hear Eric placing the bet and warned him that his medication could make him act recklessly.

Eric confessed to Liam that he’d lost the cash, and had secured a loan on his house. Liam begged him to come off the medication, but Pollard insisted he was going to the bookies and threatened to call the police!

    Brenda was devastated!

Back home, Eric returned triumphant with Brenda’s wedding dress. But it turned out Liam had got to Brenda first and explained what her husband was up to. And she’d spoken to the bank and found out the truth about what had happened to her savings.

A clearly devastated Brenda asked her fiancé what he was thinking, blowing her life savings. Eric tried to get round her by showing her his winnings because his horse had come in. But Brenda wasn’t listening. She told Eric his betrayal was so deep, she couldn’t get over it!

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Tom’s family deserted him – or did they?

Meanwhile, Jimmy fibbed to Nicola that he was going to the yard, but instead he was worrying about how to respond to an email about Tom in prison. Tom wanted to add Jimmy to his contacts.

Nicola wasn’t impressed by Jimmy’s lies and she really wasn’t happy about him considering visiting his nephew. She told her husband in no uncertain terms to get the prison to take them off Tom’s list of contacts.

But later, Angelica filled in the form herself. Is she planning to visit her evil cousin?

Chas came clean in Emmerdale tonight

Elsewhere, Liam told Cain about his romance with Chas and was relieved when Cain gave his approval. But Cain was still grumpy and stressed holding things together at the farm and the garage and he really didn’t want to celebrate his 50th birthday!

    Ruby got a shock

Steph begged Ruby to give Anthony a chance, so Ruby confronted her dad and demanded proof of his cancer diagnosis.

She was taken aback when Anthony showed her the proof she wanted, and realised he was telling the truth.

Classic Emmerdale spoilers: Adam threatens Steph, Terry frets about Dawn, and there’s bad news for Katie

In Classic Emmerdale spoilers for episodes airing on ITV3 on Monday December 2, Adam threatens Steph, while Alan worries about his daughter, Terry’s fretting about his romance with Jean, and there’s bad news for Katie.

These episodes originally aired on May 16 and 17 2006.

    Adam’s getting menacing with Steph

Marlon is worried when he finds Steph at B&B in such a deep sleep that he can’t wake her.

When Steph finally stirs, she tells an alarmed Marlon that Adam administers her pills. That doesn’t reassure Marlon in the slightest, so he goes to speak to Alan. And Alan’s worries about Steph’s involvement with Adam begin to grow.

Meanwhile Steph asks Adam if she can stop taking the pills, but with an air of menace, he refuses her request.

    Sad news for Katie

Paddy tells Katie and Andy that it is kinder to let Jonas die, and so they agree to have him put to sleep. Back home, Paddy tells Toni he’s grateful for her support over the issue and that he’s glad to have a friend like her.

    Is Terry’s secret out?

Elsewhere TJ clocks Terry and Jean kissing. Oops! When Terry gets called into work at Home Farm unexpectedly, he takes the little lad with him. When TJ draws a picture of two people kissing, Edna’s intrigued and when Jean snatches it away, Edna’s even more suspicious!

Steph’s got a plan in Classic Emmerdale

The next day, Betty, Alan and Marlon arrive at the B&B for a surprise wedding party for Steph and Adam. But Steph’s on edge and starts having flashbacks to the night they killed Terence. As she freaks out, Adam tries to calm her down and puts her to bed, but Alan’s concern is increasing.

After the guests have left, Steph tells Adam that she wants to confess because she can’t cope with the lies. He reminds her they could go to prison. When Steph sees him panicking, she says she’ll take the blame because she loves him so much.

    Terry’s worried about Dawn’s return

Meanwhile, Jean is flirting with Tom, who reveals to Terry that he plans to ask her out on a date. Terry is unimpressed when Jean says she’ll accept but she assures him it’s just to distract the village gossips from their romance.

Terry is still worried about Dawn finding out as she is being released from prison the following day.

  • Emmerdale Christmas preview: Tom’s final stand, Moira’s agony and a return

Emmerdale Christmas preview: Tom’s final stand, Moira’s agony and a return

It’s the festive season in Emmerdale, but there is a distinct lack of good cheer in our Christmas preview because frankly, things look pretty bleak for just about everyone.

With Moira anxiously waiting the results of the biopsy on her tumour, Cain hiding his infidelity and the drama of the Tom and Belle storyline all looming, it doesn’t look like any of the Emmerdale residents are going to have a merry Christmas this year!

In fact, show boss Iain MacLeod has said 2024 will be one of the most “exciting” Christmases in the soap’s history.

He told Digital Spy back in September: “This Christmas, there is a huge surprise arrival on Christmas Day. As well as some life or death jeopardy on Christmas Day – but obviously there will be festive brilliance as we do every year – but I think it is one of the most exciting Christmases that I can remember on Emmerdale this year!”

He continued to promise “incredibly heartbreaking family drama with plenty of Dingle action. There is also some classic gothic antics at Home Farm – some skullduggery!”

So what is happening this festive season? Let’s take a look in our Christmas preview.

Will looks confused, behind Kim who looks smug
WHAT IS GOING ON?! (Credit: ITV)

    Kim’s Christmas surprise in Emmerdale!

At Home Farm, Kim’s pulling out all the stops for a Christmas to remember, while Will’s pretending to be loved-up but planning a meeting with Peter. But when Peter delays putting their takedown of Kim into action, saying there’s been a change of circumstance, Will’s annoyed and confused.

He’s even more cross when Peter won’t tell him who the third party is. Who’s pulling the strings? Is it Jamie Tate? Joe Tate? Caleb?! Will we find out over the festive period?

Meanwhile, acting on Peter’s orders, Will suggests to Kim that they renew their vows on Christmas Day and then feels guilty when she gets emotional.

We’re still not convinced everything’s as it seems with this storyline. Is Kim actually in on the whole thing? Will all the Tates return en-masse at Christmas – Joe, Jamie and Jean?! Is Frank really alive? Could Dave Glover rise from the dead? Is it Rose? (Please don’t let it be Rose). Tina Dingle? Lydia?! Frankly nothing would surprise us now!

    Matty and Moira

    Bad news for Moira

It’s time for Moira to get her pathology results back but Cain’s nowhere to be found. Poor Moira’s still convinced her cheating, useless husband will show up in time, and makes a last-minute phone call to Cain.

Having stayed away, full of guilt, Cain finally steps up but circumstances conspire against him and he misses the appointment.

When Moira eventually catches up with Cain, she tells him her results were fine. But she admits to a heartbroken Matty that she lied – she needs radiotherapy.

With Cain having let her down again, will Moira realise something’s very wrong with her marriage? Could this be the last Christmas for Coira?

    Cain gets arrested
Oh look, Cain’s let Moira down AGAIN (Credit: ITV)

    Cain gets arrested!

Cain does have a good reason for missing Moira’s appointment, mind you. As he tries to make it to his wife’s side, he’s stopped by Jai’s badly parked car, and then has an altercation with PC Swirling which ends up with him being arrested.

He’s let off with a caution and heads off to go and get drunk which is where Liam finds him

    Cain looks serious
Is Cain about to ruin Moira’s Christmas and also her entire life? (Credit: ITV)

Will Cain confess in Emmerdale this Christmas?

When Liam drops Cain off at home, Moira’s FUMING! She tells her husband she’d arranged a surprise party for his birthday the next day and he needs to pull himself together.

But Cain’s got one thing on his mind – confession! He wants to tell Moira exactly what he was doing when she was having her operation. Will he spill the beans? It’s definitely shaping up to be a miserable Christmas at Butlers.

Ruby looks sad as she looks at a photo
The photograph brings back bad memories for Ruby (Credit: ITV)

    Ruby flashback

With Ruby struggling with – well, everything really – things aren’t any happier in the Fox-Miligan household. Ruby’s still trying to pretend nothing happened with her and Cain, she’s getting used to Steph being around again, and dealing with memories stirred up by her dad’s arrival.

As Christmas approaches and Anthony starts reminiscing, Steph finds a photo of Ruby on her 16th birthday way back in 1992 – just a year or so before Steph was born. In a special flashback, viewers will see why Ruby’s pretending she doesn’t remember the day and why it makes her so uncomfortable.

We’re guessing whatever the memory is, it’s nothing good, and we reckon raking up the past isn’t going to help the Fox-Miligans look forward to a happy new year.

    Ross gives up

And what a surprise, there’s no Christmas cheer for Ross either as he decides it’s time to give up trying to be a dad to Moses and let Mack take over.

Belle was overwhelmed by the news the police believed her (Credit: ITV)
Belle has found the strength she needs (Credit: ITV)

    Ho ho hope for Belle?

BUT there might be some good news for Belle this Christmas as her domestic abuse ordeal comes to an end. Though before that happens, things get a bit tricky as imprisoned Tom worms his way into niece Angelica’s affections, convincing her he’s been wronged by everyone in the village.

As Jimmy and Nicola fret about their daughter’s support for Tom, are things about to get a whole lot worse for the Kings?

Emmerdale bosses have promised Belle will be in a much happier place by Christmas and with a special episode set for Tom’s trial this December, let’s hope she gets the justice she deserves.

The soap has also confirmed Denise Welch, Jack Ellis and Charles Dale will be starring in the special ep, so watch out for their appearances before Christmas too.

Who is returning to Emmerdale this Christmas?

After Iain’s comment that there will be a surprise return on Christmas Day, speculation is rife over who it will be. Many fans think Pete Barton will come home, now his brother Ross is settling in the village again.

Others think Joe Tate, who may or may not be plotting against Kim (could be just wishful thinking) will be back.

Some are hoping (still) for the Robert Sugden comeback they’ve been calling for. Just as John and Aaron are set for a happy Christmas together, could Robert come back to stir up the pot?

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Belle fought back, we still love DS Foy and will Ella kill again?

Emmerdale review of the week: Belle fought back, we still love DS Foy and will Ella kill again?

This week’s review is full of despair, because everything in Emmerdale just feels a bit bleak, doesn’t it?

Poor Moira’s still in hospital, and there’s misery and upset everywhere we look. Here’s what we thought of this week’s episodes in our Emmerdale review.

Kim and Will finally got back together (Credit: ITV)
What is going on?! (Credit: ITV)

    Kim and Will’s endless plots

We planned to do a little recap of what’s gone on with the warring couple but as soon as we started writing we realised we weren’t completely sure. Someone is double-crossing someone else, and Will seems to be working with Kim‘s Graham-clone financial adviser Peter.

But Peter seems to be working with someone else to bring down Kim (why does he even care? Who even is he?!)

Frankly, if Joe Tate’s not involved we’re not interested.

Ella was distraught by the lies Chas and Liam had told (Credit: ITV)
Ella was distraught by the lies Chas and Liam had told (Credit: ITV)

    Ella unleashed?

One thing we ARE interested in is Ella. Because she has taken the news about Chas and Liam very badly indeed. Which is a little bit odd because she and Liam only went out for about 10 minutes and he was clearly never that into her.

But her being so furious about the whole thing has made us a bit excited that she might take terrible revenge on Chas and Liam. She’s killed before, after all…

    Vinny and Tina
Is that it, then? (Credit: ITV)

Vinny’s FINE in our Emmerdale review

Is the whole Tina Dingle thing done and dusted now, then? Is that it? When Vinny joked with Belle that they just needed to “rejig the family tree” it sounded like it was all over. Job done. Surely there’s going to be more to this? We hope so, anyway!

Belle and Tom have one more showdown as he plans to flee
Tom was finally outsmarted by Belle (Credit: ITV)

    Belle outsmarted Tom

When Tom tormented Belle this week, we were beginning to feel a bit frustrated. How come, we thought, no one is ever around when he corners poor Belle.

When he drove past her as he made his mistake, we even found ourselves wondering why Belle never uses her phone to help herself. Why doesn’t she film him? we thought.

But then Ms Dingle only went and outdid herself! She used her phone to track her evil ex and the hero that is DS Foy (yep, that crush we have on DS Foy is holding strong). Brilliant gripping stuff. We can’t wait to see Tom brought to justice.

Amelia was terrified as Tom aggressively dragged her outside (Credit: ITV)
Amelia finally saw the real Tom! (Credit: ITV)

Amelia and Jimmy finally saw sense!

A big shout out to Amelia and Jimmy for realising they’d also been duped by Tom and admitting their faults.

We especially enjoyed Charity and Amelia’s chat in the church. The Dingles have been really kind towards both Jimmy and Nicola this week, despite how they’d behaved towards Belle. It was good to see.

Roxy Shahidi is reportedly leaving as Leyla (Credit: ITV)
Roxy Shahidi is reportedly leaving as Leyla (Credit: ITV)

Leyla’s back in our Emmerdale review!

We’ve missed Leyla so we were very pleased to see her back this week. But it just reminded us that those rumours that she’s being killed off are still flying about and we’re not happy about them!

Classic Emmerdale spoilers: Cain and Jasmine get closer and the honeymoon’s over for Steph and Adam

In Classic Emmerdale spoilers for episodes airing on ITV3 on Friday November 29 Cain and Jasmine take things further, Steph and Adam are back – with some news for Alan, and Paddy’s cross with Hari.

These episodes originally aired on May 14 and 15 2006.

    Jasmine and Cain get closer

Jasmine’s full of confusion and turns to Cain for help. Bad idea, Jasmine! She dares him to show her what a man can give her that a woman can’t. They kiss and Cain suggests taking it up to the bedroom.

But later, Debbie finds a distressed Jasmine and suggests they patch things up. Will Jasmine tell her what she’s done?

Bad news for Katie in Classic Emmerdale

Paddy’s got some bad news for Katie and Andy as he examines her horse, Jonas, and tells them he has navicular disease and might need to be put down. Later, when Paddy tells Toni about what’s happened, he’s genuinely upset and Toni is moved by his sensitivity.

The honeymoon’s over for Steph and Adam!

Steph Stokes and Adam Forsythe return to the village and announce they’ve got married! The villagers are stunned, and Alan hints to Adam that he’s certainly taken on a lot by marrying Steph. Harsh! But Adam assures Alan that he’s happy, while Steph picks up on her dad’s worries and says that Adam is her rock.

The next morning, Steph wakes up full of energy, but after breakfast, she’s relaxed while Laurel’s groggy and tired.

In shock, Adam realises Laurel must have taken the drugged drink intended for Steph. Oops! He tells her it must be a bug. But he’s unnerved by Laurel and Ashley’s presence in the house and deliberately breaks the boiler so they have to move out.

Later, Steph catches her new husband adding a pill to her dinner and questions him about it. But he tells her it calms her down. Will she believe him?

Paddy’s fuming with Hari in Classic Emmerdale

Hari tells Katie there are drugs that could keep Jonas alive – for a while. However, Paddy’s annoyed and tells him it’s unethical to keep a horse alive when it’s going to die anyway. But Hari coldly tells Paddy that he sees people as friends, when he sees them as customers.

  • Pearl Ladderbanks: Money worries, gambling habit and heartbreak!

Pearl Ladderbanks: Money worries, gambling habit and heartbreak!

Pearl Ladderbanks was one of Emmerdale fans’ favourite characters. She was good-hearted and funny, but she somehow always found herself making bad choices and getting into trouble.

    Pearl’s arrival in the village

Snooty Edna Birch declared Pearl was a ‘trollop’ almost as soon as she arrived in the village! But flamboyant and fun, Ms Ladderbanks was soon making friends. She hit it off with Len Reynolds when she first came to Emmerdale, and the pair quickly started a romance. He proposed and she accepted and they moved in together. But Pearl was hiding a big secret!

    Pearl’s secret

It turned out that Pearl’s son Frank was not a financial adviser, as she’d told everyone in the village. In fact, he was serving time for rape. Len was horrified when he found out, but quickly realised Pearl had been through enough when it came to Frank and stood by her.

When he was released, Frank came to stay with Pearl and Len. But his arrival was written about in the Hotten Courier and the villagers all turned against poor Pearl. Only Ashley and Edna stood by her and Len. Scott Windsor and Syd Woolfe beat Frank up after a misunderstanding involving Scott’s sister Donna, and Frank decided to move away and start a new life elsewhere.

Pearl and Len were upset about how they’d been treated so they decided to move away too, but their friends in the village rallied round and convinced them to stay.

    Pearl, Len and Owen
Pearl, Len and Owen all rubbed along nicely together (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    Money troubles

Pearl’s grandson Owen came to visit from Hong Kong. But Pearl was put in an awkward position when he asked to see where his dad was buried. It turned out his mum had lied and said his dad was dead, rather than admitting the truth about him being in prison.

Pearl told Owen the truth, and was surprised when he said he already knew! He just wanted someone to be honest with him.

The pair became close and Pearl began saving up to visit Owen in Hong Kong. But she soon made some bad decisions when she invested in a get-rich-quick scheme and persuaded some of her friends to invest, too.

But the scheme was a scam and Pearl lost all her cash and her friends’ money too. Desperate to make amends, she took a loan from Eric.

Len wasn’t impressed when he found out, but he repaid the loan, only for Pearl to be hit with an early-repayment penalty Eric had sneaked into her contract.

She was so guilt-ridden with the mess she’d made that she left the village, leaving her engagement ring and a note for Len.

Return to the village for Pearl Ladderbanks

Pearl was working in a pub, using a false name, when she bumped into Daz Eden, who’d fled from his mum and her boyfriend. They went back to Emmerdale together and to Pearl’s relief, she was welcomed back with open arms. She even reconciled with Len.

Pearl listens to Jimmy and Kelly
Pearl knew that Jimmy was lying (Credit: ITV)

    More blackmail

Pearl started working for the Kings, and she was a key witness when Tom was murdered. She knew Jimmy had lied about being with Kelly on the night, because she’d seen Kelly alone. Jimmy tried to blackmail Pearl into keeping quiet but she went to the police.

    Len’s death

When Len died, Pearl was devastated. The whole village turned out to say goodbye. As Pearl tried to move on, she thought Eric was being an unlikely friend to her, but it turned out he was just trying to swindle her out of her home.

Pearl talks to Paddy and Rhona

    More money woes

By 2015 Pearl was working at the vet’s but she discovered she’d been underpaying her gas bill and was deep in debt. She turned to gambling to try to make more wonga and was soon in even worse trouble.

She started stealing from the vet’s and even pretended to be suffering from memory troubles in order to get away with it. But when Vanessa found a list of IOUs she’d been keeping, the game was up. She was sacked and she sold her house to Eric to pay off her debts.

Once more she planned to leave the village but once more, she was convinced to stay.

Pearl left the village in 2020, moving to a static caravan in Demdyke and then to Hong Long to be with Owen.

    Who played Pearl Ladderbanks?

Pearl was played by actress Meg Johnson. She had a long and glittering career in showbiz from making her debut on the stage aged just six when she was evacuated to Bolton during the war.

Meg played Eunice Gee in Coronation Street in the 1980s and 90s, and worked regularly with Victoria Wood. She starred in productions of Chicago, Gypsy and Follies, and played Brigid McKenna in Broookside from 2000-2003.

In 2003 she landed the role of Pearl in Emmerdale and stayed in the village until 2020.
