Where is Esther? And 6 other missing Emmerdale kids

Esther Spencer seems to have vanished into thin air in Emmerdale. So much so that viewers are questioning exactly where she is. And for that matter, where are the rest of the Dales children?

There are a lot of kids living in Emmerdale. So many, in fact, that Tracy was ready to make a success of her forest nursery – until Caleb scuppered it! But despite Emmerdale being over-run with ankle-biters most of the children in the village are talked about, but never seen.

    Where’s Esther in Emmerdale?

Fans have noticed that teen mum Amelia Spencer is rarely seen with her daughter, Esther – and they’re not happy about it. While Amelia’s busy secretly romancing Tom King and dismissing everything Belle is telling her about his abuse, Esther is nowhere to be seen.

“No child again,” said one disgruntled fan.

While others simply questioned where the little girl has vanished to and dubbed her ‘the ghost daughter’!

But Esther isn’t the only child in Emmerdale never to be seen. While we often see Frankie, Kyle and Isaac, and occasionally catch up with other kids in the village like Eve, Clemmie and Lucas, there are others who we don’t see for months at a time.

Here are some of the kids we’re missing.

    Vanessa in the shop
    Wheeeeere’s Johnny? (Credit: ITV)

    Johnny

Vanessa was talking about Johnny the other day but we’ve barely seen him since she returned to the village. He’s just turned nine but did he get a birthday party or even a cake? The poor lad didn’t even get a mention!

Rhona ran away with little Ivy
Rhona was desperate to keep Ivy in her life (Credit: ITV)

    Ivy

What a lot of angst Rhona and Marlon went through to have little Ivy live with them. They fought so hard to have Rhona’s unexpected daughter move in with them, and yet now she’s here, we’ve not seen her. Rhona’s back at work and busier than ever now Tom’s been sacked, and Marlon’s cooking at the pub. How does Ivy fit in? Mind you, we’ve really not seen much of  April or Leo lately either. Have Marlon and Rhona forgotten their kids?

    Dotty

Jai is adamant that he’s missing Arthur and Dotty desperately now he and Laurel have split. And we’re missing Dotty too! Where has she gone?

    Carl and Elliot

We saw a bit of Carl and Elliot when Angelica was gearing up to go to prison, but since then, they’ve been totally absent. Nicola talks about them all the time – going to football camp, using Tom’s tablet – they get up to all sorts. We just never see them do it.

Gail and Ryan with son Oscar
Gail and Ryan got to know son Oscar – but where is he now? (Credit: ITV)

    Oscar

There was a big shock for Gail and Ryan when the son they had adopted came back into their lives. Gail was a bone marrow donor for the lad, and then his mum wanted them to part ways. But Oscar wasn’t giving up that easily – he got to know Gail and Ryan, and even formed a sweet bond with Charity. And then he vanished, never to be seen or mentioned again.

  • Caleb and Ruby have a daughter! Or do they? Everything we know about ‘Stephanie’ – including when she might arrive in the Dales

Caleb and Ruby have a daughter! Or do they? Everything we know about ‘Stephanie’ – including when she might arrive in the Dales

Caleb and Ruby in Emmerdale have a daughter! This is HUGE!

And yes, we sort of knew about her but we didn’t know much. Or even if she really existed. Because, let’s face it, the Fox-Miligans are fond of twisting the truth.

But in tonight’s episode, Caleb went to see his mother-in-law, Helen, in the hospital where she was lying dying. They exchanged some heated words and Helen asked Caleb if he’d seen anything of Stephanie.

Caleb looked furious and he firmly told Helen that she should never mention his kids.

    OOH!

Caleb looks stressed as he takes a call with Ruby anxiously listening in
Caleb is a master of keeping secrets (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale: Who is Caleb and Ruby’s daughter, Stephanie?

So who is Stephanie? And could she come to Emmerdale any time soon?

When Caleb first arrived in the village, he told Leyla that he had ‘kids’. Plural. Back then, of course, we didn’t know Nicky was his son.

And Nicky did mention a sister too. Though he also told Gabby that he was one of five siblings, that his mum was dead and that he was in love with her, so we can’t believe everything Nicky said.

But when Caleb was encouraging Nicky to keep going with the plot to scam Kim, he said it was important to keep his mum and sister in their house.

    Ruby looks unhappy
Ruby hasn’t mentioned her daughter (Credit: ITV)

    Estranged? Missing? Adopted?!

Since then, though, no one has so much as mentioned a daughter. Ruby has spoken many times about how much she is missing Nicky, and how desperate she is to get hold of him as he avoids her calls.

We know that when she was young, Ruby got pregnant and her mum offered to pay her to have an abortion. Ruby chose Caleb instead and the pair made a go of family life.

What we don’t know is if that baby was Nicky! After all, it’s Nicky’s birthday this week and we reckon he’s turning 24, making him born in 2000.

And Ruby is in her late 40s. Which means she’d have been young – early 20s – when Nicky was born but not so young her parents would have had concerns.

So does that mean Stephanie is Nicky’s older sister? She could be in her 30s now. Perhaps with a family of her own.

We would LOVE for them all to rock up in Emmerdale. And chances are, now she’s been properly mentioned it won’t be too long…

But perhaps if Ruby had her daughter when she was just a teenager, she could have given her up for adoption. Perhaps they have fallen out? Perhaps Stephanie doesn’t want anything to do with her parents – just as Nicky doesn’t. Or a new theory suggests Stephanie is not Ruby’s daughter at all, but in fact, Caleb’s child with Ruby’s mum, Helen!

Whatever the back story is, we can’t wait to hear it!

  • Review of the week: Moira’s in danger, in hospital, and making friends with Ruby!

Review of the week: Moira’s in danger, in hospital, and making friends with Ruby!

This week our Emmerdale review is hot, hot, hot! Just like Moira’s barn, which exploded with Moira and Cain inside – it was dramatic stuff.

And finally we found out what’s been going on with poor Mrs Dingle’s health. Here’s what we thought of all the action in our Emmerdale review.

    Emmerdale barn is on fire
The barn exploded! (Credit: ITV/ Composite EI)

    The barn explosion

We have never been fans of big stunts in soap. They have their place and sometimes they work so brilliantly we talk about them for years (yes, we are still going on about the Hotton By-pass crash, so what?). But you can have too much of a good thing. So exciting and dramatic as the barn blowing up was, it was the other stuff around it we liked best this week.

Moira zoned out just at the wrong time (Credit: ITV)

    Moira’s health crisis

Never were the stakes higher than when Ruby was out cold and Moira had to get her out of the burning barn – only to have another absent moment. As Moira zoned out, the tension was ramping up. What a cliffhanger! It was great soapy telly.

And the reveal that Moira has a mass on her brain that has been causing her odd behaviour, and her reconciliation with Cain (which is frankly more than he deserves, in our opinion though he did save Moira’s life so we’ll let him off), was heart-wrenching and emotional. We really hope Moira gets through this!

Cain saved Moira’s life but we’re still not happy with the way he’s been treating her! (Credit: ITV/EI)

    Moira and Ruby

We’ve wanted Moira and Ruby to be friends since Ruby first arrived in the village and there was a little moment this week where we thought it could happen! Ruby went to visit Moira in hospital and they both apologised – sort of – for their past behaviour. It was understated and a little bit funny and we loved it.

Arriving in the barn to gloat, Ruby [BETH CORDINGLY] becomes slightly sorry for Moira Dingle
This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship (Credit: ITV)

Mack’s still invincible in our Emmerdale review

Mackenzie Boyd is like Emmerdale’s answer to Wolverine – he’s survived a clifftop plunge in his car, a stabbing, being held at gunpoint, the fire in the maize maze, and being chased by a bull. And now he’s dived into the blazing barn and rescued Ruby, too. Is there nothing this man can’t handle? Because actually it’s getting a bit boring now.

    John’s making his mark

The other hero of the fire was, without a doubt, John Sugden. Not only did he battle the flames alongside Mack, he swung into action and revealed he’d been an Army medic. So in this Emmerdale review we’d like to confirm that he’s definitely growing on us.

Cain Dingle punches Nate Robinson and leaves him lying on the sofa in Emmerdale
Surely this isn’t how Nate’s story ends? (Credit: ITV)

    Where’s Nate?

Nate’s exit was well, a bit unfair. After getting a beating from his furious dad, Cain, Nate tried to say goodbye to daughter Frankie, only for Tracy to send him packing. Though Tracy did eventually relent and let Nate say a tearful farewell to his little girl.

Later, Nate told John what had happened, explaining that Moira had thrown herself at him. And he said he had nothing to be ashamed of – he wasn’t going to run away like he was guilty. Instead, he said he was going to see Moira, though John seemed to talk him out of it.

We can’t help wondering, though, if Nate did go to find Moira after all. Could he be an unexpected victim of the barn fire?  It’s weird to hope that someone dies, but we feel his exit would be just too mean if there isn’t a twist!

  • ‘I’ve made friends for life at Emmerdale’ Jurell Carter spills the beans on Nate’s exit

‘I’ve made friends for life at Emmerdale’ Jurell Carter spills the beans on Nate’s exit

So it looks like Nate Robinson has waved goodbye to Emmerdale, and frankly, we don’t blame him! Poor Nate was humiliated by Tracy’s affair with Caleb. Then just as it seemed they were about to make a go of things – disaster! Caleb spotted Nate and Moira hugging, got the wrong end of the stick, and everything fell apart.

Caleb told Cain what he thought he saw. And of course, Cain stormed off to confront his son – and give him a proper beating.

    Devastation for Nate in Emmerdale

We sat down with Jurell Carter, who plays Nate, to find all about how he leaves Emmerdale – forever!

“I think he’s just devastated,” says Jurell. “All he’s ever wanted is a relationship with his father. For Cain to get the wrong idea… He’s just devastated and heartbroken.”

Cain’s reaction isn’t entirely shocking, given that Nate did once have an affair with Moira, but Jurell says that was a long time ago.

“That Cain even believes Nate would do such a thing, that he’s taken their relationship back to square one, leaves Nate heartbroken,” he says.

Cain Dingle and Tracy Robinson confront Nate Robinson in Emmerdale
Things kick off between Nate and Cain (Credit: ITV)

    Confrontation!

The confrontation between father and son, was brutal and shocking – so how was it to film?

“We had a fight arranger because obviously Cain lays into Nate, and Nate doesn’t fight back,” Jurell tells us. “The fight was amazing to do but from Nate’s perspective it’s heartbreaking, going down that road again.”

The fight means Nate’s decision to leave was an easy one – though a big one.

“It’s huge for him but family is massive for Nate. This is a pivotal moment in terms of Nate going forward and his decision leaving everyone behind. It isn’t what he wanted to do, but he’s been left with no choice.”

Cain Dingle lashes out while Tracy Robinson watches on in horror in Emmerdale

Sad farewell for Nate in Emmerdale

It’s a sad ending for Nate because he’s the wronged party. So is he angry about what’s happened? Or is he more sad?

“I think it’s a mixture,” Jurell muses. “I just think he feels helpless in a way because he’s trying to convince Cain and Tracy that Moira came onto him. Obviously no-one’s really believing him and they’re shutting him out.”

So Nate’s off – and that means Jurell is too. Is he sad to be going?

“The character of Nate and myself share a mindset of wanting to go on to a next chapter, but also just being emotional and sad over leaving everything behind,” says Jurell. “That’s how I feel as an actor, in terms of leaving a show that I love.”

Nate and Cain fight on the boat
Nate and Cain fight on the boat

    Happy memories

After five years on the show, he must have some happy memories. So what was Jurell’s favourite storyline?

“I will never forget the massive fallout [of Nate and Moira’s affair] with all the boat stunts, for so many reasons – just how intense, dramatic and there was so much adrenaline rushing through that whole week.”

But will Jurell keep up with the action on-screen?

“Of course. It’s going to be weird because at the minute it feels like I’ve just got some time off and I’m going back soon. But knowing that I’m not, it’s such a weird feeling. I’m definitely going to be watching and supporting because I’ve made friends for life with the cast, so it’s special.”

  • As Cain and Moira are caught in the explosion, who dies in the barn fire?

As Cain and Moira are caught in the explosion, who dies in the barn fire?

An explosion rips through one of the barns in Emmerdale this evening, while Cain and Moira are trapped inside.

As the force of the Emmerdale explosion knocks the shocked onlookers off their feet, things look bleak for everyone who’s nearby.

But will everyone make it out alive? We took a look at everyone who’s there when the barn burns, and who could end up dead!

Moira points the gun at Ruby

    Ruby

As a frantic Caleb arrived at the barn in tonight’s episode, brave Mack was emerging from the flames holding Ruby. She may be out of the fire itself but she’s badly injured and was suffering from a head wound before the blaze took hold. Could she be one of the casualties?

Will Moira die in the Emmerdale explosion?

Moira started the fire when she fired her shotgun and caused sparks to ignite the petrol-soaked hay in the barn. But it’s clear she’s not herself and she was hallucinating when Ruby confronted her. With Moira already vulnerable and obviously unwell, will she even attempt to make it out of the flames?

Cain Dingle [JEFF HORDINGLY], despite his current anger with his wife, races to the burning barn and panicking Chas Dingle [LUCY PARGETER] tries to hold him back from dashing inside to get to his wife.

    Cain

Moira’s husband Cain has gone into the flames to rescue her but though Moira was more alert when he arrived, it looked grim. With their way out blocked by the fire and cans of petrol, it didn’t seem like there was any way to make it to safety. Undaunted, Cain wrapped a tarpaulin round them both and tried to get Moira to the door – just as the barn exploded. Will he make it out alive?

    Caleb Emmerdale

    Caleb

Soaps are tricky things and sometimes you think someone is in dire straits, only to discover they’re fine and it’s the person who seemed okay all along, who’s in trouble. So while Caleb seemed to be only worried about Ruby, he was knocked off his feet when the barn exploded and we can’t help wonder if he might have injured himself?

Will looks worried on Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Will’s in all sorts of trouble but does that include perishing in the fire? (Credit: ITV)

    Will

Still focused on his blackmailer’s relentless messaging, Will wandered off to take a phone call while the flames raged. He wasn’t with the others outside when the barn exploded. Was he too close for comfort? Could this be a really extreme way to put an end to his blackmailer’s demands?!

Mack and John Sugden fight their way through the flames in Emmerdale

    Mackenzie

Mack is not at his best right now, having just recovered from being attacked by a bull. He bravely ran into the flames to rescue Ruby but could this be the thing that finally finishes him off? He’s survived the bull, a stabbing, Meena’s maize maze blaze, the dramatic accident that saw his car plunge off a cliff, and the wrath of Charity when she found out he’d cheated. Is it going to be the barn fire that ends him once and for all?

Could John be hurt in the Emmerdale explosion?

Newcomer John is right there when the barn explodes. He seems unscathed as he sits up, shocked at what just happened. But he was inside the barn with Mack and smoke can cause a lot of damage. Is Victoria about to lose another brother?

Chas and Cain run towards the burning barn
Is Chas going to be one of the casualties? (Credit: ITV)

    Chas

Chas may have stayed outside the barn, agonising over Cain’s bravery as he headed into the flames, but that doesn’t mean she’s safe. Could she have banged her head when she was thrown to the ground by the force of the flames? Perhaps she’s so worried about her brother she hasn’t even yet noticed her own injuries…

    Nate looks concerned
    Where is Nate? (Credit: ITV)

    Nate

The last time we saw Nate, he said he was going to talk to Moira. We didn’t see him leave for Shetland and he’s not been seen since. Everyone in the village thinks he’s upped and gone. BUT… are we putting two and two together and coming up with five, if we say, perhaps he’s in the barn too? Or nearby somewhere? Perhaps he’s badly injured or even dead and no one knows to look for him!

  • Who’s blackmailing Will in Emmerdale? All the suspects who could be behind his torment

Who’s blackmailing Will in Emmerdale? All the suspects who could be behind his torment

Someone is blackmailing Will Taylor in Emmerdale and he has absolutely no idea who is making his life a misery!

Poor Will is having a bad old time of it this week. He’s in trouble right up to his neck after sleeping with his ex Rose.

Now he’s lying to wife Kim and trying to keep whoever is blackmailing him happy too. He’s pawned his watch, which was a wedding present, and just about everything he says to Kim is a fib!

Will thought he had the blackmail under control, but he missed the drop-off, thanks to racing to help with the barn fire. Now things are even worse!

Of course, Will’s got no idea who his tormentor is. So we have rounded up a list of the most likely suspects.

Rose prepares to make a confession to Will in Emmerdale
Is Rose the culprit? (Credit: ITV)

    Rose

She’s the obvious choice, given her history of lying and fleecing her family. Plus she’s got a lot of beef with Will – and Kim – and she’s spent the last few weeks trying to split them up.

But Rose is soaking up the sun in the Med, and she doesn’t seem to have any inclination to return. Plus, Will knows his blackmailer is in the UK – perhaps we can cross Rose off the list.

Dawn looks upset at the hospital in Emmerdale

    Dawn

Dawn’s fuming with her dad for *checks notes* getting rid of the mum who lied to her, drugged her, and tried to split up her family. And she is really not in any mood to forgive him any time soon.

Could she be taking some twisted revenge on her dad? It’s possible!

Lydia looks annoyed as she overhears Rose
Don’t mess with Lydia (Credit: ITV)

    Lydia

Yes we know this is a crazy suggestion, but go with us here. Lyds is VERY protective of her bestie Kim. Kim was there for Lydia in her darkest times, and perhaps Lydia feels like she owes her. And more important than all that, Lydia knows that Will slept with Rose…

Will Taylor makes a phone call with Jimmy King in Emmerdale
Jimmy’s being a mate to Will but is he the blackmailer? (Credit: ITV)

    Jimmy

Plagued with money troubles, Jimmy could definitely do with a cash injection. But he’s been a real friend to Will these last few weeks and he’s even tried to talk him out of  giving into the blackmail. Could he really have betrayed his mate?

    Kim Tate looking annoyed
Kim’s not going to be happy if she finds out what Will’s been up to. But is she blackmailing him? (Credit: ITV)

    Kim

Kim Tate is no pushover. And she does not take kindly to being made a fool of. She loathed Rose and had her number straightaway, only for Dawn and Will to ignore her concerns. Does she know the truth about Will and Rose? If so, she’s really taking terrible revenge!

    Ruby Fox-Miligan in Emmerdale
She loves scheming, does Ruby! (Credit: ITV)

    Ruby

Ruby was behind Rose’s plan to break up Will and Kim. She was pulling the strings behind the scenes back then, so perhaps she’s still in control? C0uld she be the one making Will’s life a misery?

    Caleb

Caleb’s still determined to take everything he can away from Kim. He’s set his sights on the haulage yard and is busy sabotaging it left, right and centre. Could this sinister blackmail plot be part of his plan?

  • Terence Turner: Steph Stokes’ abuser who met a grisly end

Terence Turner: Steph Stokes’ abuser who met a grisly end

Terence Turner in Emmerdale met a sorry end at the hands of his sister Steph Stokes – sort of! But did he deserve what happened to him?

Here’s our rundown on what Terence did.

    Who was Terence Turner?

Terence was the son of Woolpack landlord Alan Turner. He also had a sister, Steph Stokes, and he was the uncle of Tricia Dingle, though she had died before Terence returned to the village.

Stephen Marchant as young Terence Turner
Terence was arrogant and entitled (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock )

    Early days in Emmerdale

Clever student Terence was studying at Oxford in the 198os, when he also had a romance with Sandie Merrick – much to the disappointment of her stepdad, Jack Sugden.

Back then, lazy and arrogant Terence was always on the hunt for a way to make money and move out of traditional farming – from dry ski slopes to crop spraying, rock climbing and even making pickle!

    Return to Emmerdale

When Terence returned to the village many years later his character had been ‘aged up’ by many years and was played by a new actor, Nick Brimble.

Straightaway it was clear that young Terence’s arrogance and sense of entitlement hadn’t changed. In fact, he’d come back to Emmerdale in order to fleece his poor dad out of £20,000!

    Steph Stokes and Terence Turner
Steph wasn’t happy to see her brother (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    Steph’s horror

Terence’s sister Steph was living in Emmerdale by then and she was horrified to see her brother again.

She revealed to her dad that Terence had sexually abused her when they were teenagers. But Alan – much to Steph’s distress – didn’t believe her. He accused Steph of making up her accusations because she was jealous of her brother.

And it was only when Terence got drunk one night and confessed that Alan finally realised Steph had been telling the truth all along. Alan and Terence had a fight and Terence fled – having nicked Alan’s money first of course.

    Terence Turner and Adam Forsythe
Terence did some digging into Adam’s past (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    Blackmail!

Steph was married to Dr Adam Forsythe and after Terence disappeared, Adam began getting odd phone calls.

It turned out the phone calls were from Terence who’d done a bit of digging into Adam’s past. He’d found out that Adam had hit a young boy and been struck off – but he was still practising as a doctor.

Terence demanded £50,000 from Adam to keep quiet.

    Murder!

When Terence came to collect the cash, Adam knocked him out with ether, and put him in the basement. When he woke up, he attacked Adam and Steph. They fought back and Adam whacked him over the head with a fire extinguisher – killing him.

Steph and Adam buried Terence in the woods, but Steph struggled with her guilt. To keep her quiet, Adam began drugging her! Poor Steph thought she was having a nervous breakdown.

When Terence’s body was found – under the rubble of the Kings River show home – Steph confessed to her crime – even though Adam was the one who actually struck the fatal blow - and she and Adam were arrested.

Adam took his own life in his prison cell and Steph was sentenced to life. She took the punishment as penance for killing her friend – and Alan’s partner – Shelley.

    Who played Terence Turner?

In the early days, Terence was played by Stephen Marchant. But when he returned several years later, he was played by Nick Brimble.

As Moira and Ruby are trapped in the flames – a warning to Emmerdale residents to steer clear of barns!

Barns in Emmerdale aren’t just for storing hay, or keeping animals away from the elements. Oh no. In Emmerdale, barns are super dangerous places, where you could burn in a raging fire, be held hostage by a vengeful enemy, get shot at, or even be electrocuted!

But don’t take our word for it – we’ve trawled the Emmerdale archives to find the most dangerous, shocking and downright disastrous events that have taken place in barns.

Here’s our round-up of the biggest dramas that have happened in barns in Emmerdale!

Al Chapman met a sorry end in a barn, when young Kyle Winchester accidentally shot him. Kyle was watching on as his dad Cain argued with Al, wanting him to leave the village. And when Kyle picked up the shotgun Cain had brought with him, he accidentally pulled the trigger. Al died, and Cain took the blame for the killing at first, before Kyle confessed. Eventually the case against Kyle was dropped.

As Mandy Dingle prepared to marry Paul Ashdale, she was unaware that he had been abusing their son Vinny. Vinny’s girlfriend Liv, though, knew what was going on and she headed up to the barn where the wedding was being held, ready to confront the groom.

Faced with Liv’s accusations, Paul lashed out, but as he attacked Liv, Jimmy was driving past in a truck. He lost control and the truck smashed into the barn. Liv and Jimmy both survived, but Paul was killed. And no one really missed him!

    Tom’s shock

When Tom King discovered his wife Belle had been to an abortion clinic and lied about it, he was furious. So furious, in fact, that he smashed up the barn. But while he was getting aggressive with inanimate objects, he accidentally hit the barn’s isolator with a metal bar. Sparks flew as an electric shock knocked Tom out cold.

Moira and Emma’s blazing barn barney

When Ruby confronted Moira this week, the struggling Ms Dingle thought Ruby was Emma Barton. She was remembering the dramatic scenes when she and Emma came face-to-face in a barn as Emma confessed to killing her husband, James. The confession led to a struggle, which led to a lamp being knocked over and the barn going on fire. Oh and while all that was going on, Moira was in labour having not even known she was pregnant. Pretty dramatic, huh?

    Wylde confession

Right, listen carefully because this is a bit complicated. Nathan’s mum, Natasha, murdered his dad, Mark and Nathan found out. Nathan managed to pin Mark’s murder on his half-brother Ryan Lamb, who went to prison for the crime. But Cain Dingle kidnapped Nathan and together with Nathan’s sister, Maisie, held him hostage in a barn. They tried to get Nathan to confess to the murder only to be shocked when Nathan revealed Natasha was the killer!

    Debbie’s revenge

Debbie Dingle fell head over heels for Cameron Murray, unaware that a) her aunt Chas was also sleeping with him and b) he’d turn out to be one of Emmerdale’s most sinister serial killers. Deb was terribly upset when she found out about Chas (though not as upset as she was when she found out about the whole murderer thing) and tied her auntie up in a barn. Debbie held Chas at gunpoint but fortunately Charity and Cain arrived just in the nick of time.

    Sarah’s tragic death

Andy Sugden loved his adopted family so much that he was prepared to take criminal action to protect them. He was convinced the family’s troubles were due to financial pressure – not knowing that his mum Sarah was having an affair with lodger Richie Carter. Wanting to help, Andy set fire to the barn, thinking Jack could claim on the insurance and ease their money troubles.

But Sarah was in the barn with Richie – ironically, breaking up with him having decided Jack was the man for her after all. Richie escaped but Sarah was killed when the barn exploded.

    David takes revenge

Troubled teen Lachlan White sexually assaulted Alicia Metcalfe and her husband David wasn’t happy about it. Not wanting to wait for justice, David kidnapped Lachlan and took him to an abandoned barn. He managed to force a confession out of Lachy but it didn’t make him change his ways – he just got worse from then on and eventually turned to kidnap himself, along with murder.

  • So, how did Moira actually kill Emma Barton? A timeline of everything that went on between them

So, how did Moira actually kill Emma Barton? A timeline of everything that went on between them

Emma Barton came to Emmerdale to reconcile with her sons Ross, Pete and Finn and ex-husband James. He was Moira’s brother-in-law, brother to her husband John Barton.

Emma blamed her ex, James, for her losing her family, but it was quickly revealed that she had tried to kill Ross when he was a baby.

Not surprisingly, James wasn’t keen on his ex-wife coming back into his life. But Emma was persistent!

The background for Moira and Emma Barton in Emmerdale

It turned out that Moira had slept with James and it was later revealed that James was actually the biological dad of Moira’s son, Adam.

During an argument with James, Emma accidentally caused a pallet to fall onto her ex. She was a nurse and could have helped, but instead she waited before calling an ambulance.

With James injured, Emma managed to manipulate him into letting her move in to look after him and then to give their marriage another try.

The truth about Moira and James revealed!

When Emma found out about James and Moira, she stepped up her mental abuse, holding James prisoner in the house. When he escaped, she followed and they had a showdown on a motorway bridge. Emma pushed James off the bridge, causing the huge Hotton by-pass crash. And James later died of his injuries.

    Dark stuff!

Moira comes face-to-face with Emma Barton in Emmerdale!

Anyway, with all that resentment about James and Moira still simmering, Emma’s mental health began to suffer even more.

She became fixated on the church and her Christian faith

And eventually, in October 2017, Moira and Emma came face-to-face in a barn.

Emma confessed to pushing James off the bridge, and the women fought. In the struggle, they knocked over a lamp and the barn caught fire.

As if that wasn’t enough drama, Moira was pregnant, though she didn’t know it at the time, and she went into labour!

    Fiery confrontation

So with the barn ablaze and Moira having contractions, things looked bleak, especially when an explosion trapped the mum-to-be.

Emma saved the day, though, driving through the barn to free Moira, and helping deliver baby Isaac.

Moira fell unconscious, and was found by Adam and his wife Victoria. Emma ran away and Adam followed – with a gun. Another struggle followed and Emma grabbed the gun.

She walked off into the night, and accidentally fired the gun when she banged into a tree.

Unbeknownst to Emma, the bullet she fired hit her beloved son, Finn, who was in the woods looking for his mum. He died later in hospital.

    Viaduct showdown!

When Emma heard the news of Finn’s death on the radio, she was distraught. She was seen on the viaduct, contemplating taking her own life – and then viewers saw her on the ground, dead.

But it was revealed later that she had been murdered. On the day of Emma’s funeral, a series of flashbacks revealed that Moira had spotted her nemesis balancing on the viaduct and had attempted to talk her down.

Emma though, wasn’t listening. Instead, she blamed Moira for her daughter Holly’s death.

“Imagine if you paid attention and actually noticed that there was something wrong with Holly on the day that she died,” she said to Moira. “You could’ve saved her, Moira, but you walked out and left her to die. You might as well have injected the heroin yourself.”

    Emma’s death

Not surprisingly the bereaved mum saw red at such cruel words. She shoved Emma off the viaduct and Emma fell to her death.

Adam Barton took the blame for his mum’s crime and is currently on the run.

Emmerdale is not on tonight and fans fume following that dramatic cliffhanger

Emmerdale takes a break from our screens tonight because there is an England football match on the telly.

Soap fans are used to their fave shows being pushed aside when there’s football on – though we’re never really happy about it – but tonight’s scheduling has really got viewers’ goats.

Because last night’s episode of Emmerdale ended on such a dramatic cliffhanger!

    Cliffhanger!

Ruby had come across Moira in the barn, intending to taunt her about her ‘kiss’ with Nate. But it was clear that Moira was acting oddly – spilling petrol and zoning out as Ruby spoke.

And then Moira began calling Ruby by the name ‘Emma’ as she hallucinated that she was back in another barn – remembering her confrontation with Emma Barton.

Moira was scared as she thought Emma was in the barn with her, and Ruby was freaked out, but Moira wouldn’t let her go. She held Ruby at gunpoint and then fired – sending sparks into the barn that set it alight.

Ruby tried to grab the gun, but Moira knocked her out.

As the episode drew to a close, Moira seemed to come to her senses for a moment, and desperately attempted to wake Ruby.

But then she spaced out again, rocking where she sat on the ground – and that was the end of the episode!

    Forced to wait!

After such an exciting cliffhanger, the fans are desperate to see what happens next and now they’re being forced to wait thanks to the football!

And they are really not happy about it!

Looks like Moira is about to pass out! and we have to wait until Wed now? Damn it!” said one disgruntled viewer.

“Emmerdale once again falls behind for bloody football we had enough of it with Euros could have aired Emmerdale but no hours worth of pointless waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle match stuff,” said another who wasn’t holding back on their opinion!

“Aargh no Emmerdale,” another viewer wailed. “Thanks to boring football we won’t see it tomorrow,” complained one more.

Thankfully it’s only one episode we’re missing this week and we’ll back in the thick of the action in the barn fire on Wednesday!

But will Moira and Ruby make it out alive? It’s not looking good for the pair right now!
