  • I’m a Cain Dingle superfan but there’s no redeeming him after Ruby affair – OPINION

I’m a Cain Dingle superfan but there’s no redeeming him after Ruby affair – OPINION

Cain Dingle in Emmerdale is a hard man to love. And yet, love him, I do. I’ve stuck with him through the bad times – his awful treatment of teenage Amy, seducing Ollie Reynolds, his  tendency to punch first and think later… I could go on.

But after years of forgiving him for some pretty heinous behaviour, I think I’m finally done.

I can’t help thinking there’s no redeeming Cain Dingle after he slept with his brother Caleb’s wife, Ruby.

We can’t forgive Cain this time (Credit: ITV/Comp Emmerdale Insider)

Cain Dingle – the bad boy of Emmerdale

Of course we know that Cain’s had his troubles. In the past he could be, let’s be honest, a nasty piece of work.

But we sort of understood it. He had a terrible childhood with an abusive father in Shadrach and an absent mother.

Then he came to Emmerdale and fell head over heels for Angie Reynolds. Not only was Angie married,  but she was older than Cain, had two teenage kids AND she was a policewoman. We know.

Their affair was hot but Angie eventually went back to her husband and broke Cain’s heart.

He took revenge by seducing her teenage daughter Ollie, and pushing her elderly dad Len down the stairs. Yeah, that really wasn’t great and I have to admit, my love for Cain did falter a bit back then.

But the pair ended up in a feud which ended in tragedy when Angie died in a car wreck.

She passed away in Cain’s arms, having refused to tell him she loved him and instead telling him she loved her kids. Ouch. Suddenly we were Team Cain again!

    Cain’s done some awful things

Cain Dingle went on to do some other awful things. He was (sort of) responsible for the King’s River show home explosion that killed Dawn Woods. He slept with teenager Amy Wyatt and tried to scare her into having an abortion. He’s been arrested many, many times. He was a troubled soul, there’s no doubt.

But when he met Moira, he changed. And much as we’d enjoyed him being a tortured bad boy (though we hated what he did back then) we suddenly enjoyed him being in love, too.

And, we know that as a couple, they’ve not had an easy time of it. What with Moira’s drinking, and her cheating with Nate, and Holly’s death. But since the pair reconciled last they’ve seemed rock solid.

We thought Cain was back to being the Cain we loved best – a bit of an edge, definitely, but ultimately a good man.

    Not any more.

Cain was by Moira's side, but he felt guilty (Credit: ITV)
Cain betrayed Moira in the worst way at the worst time (Credit: ITV)

    Breaking Moira’s heart

From the very start of Moira’s brain tumour journey, Cain let her down. Him immediately assuming she was drinking again and not seeing the changes in her personality wasn’t great.

We could have forgiven him for all that, though, if he hadn’t then slept with Ruby.

Ruby. His brother’s wife. And not only did he sleep with her, he did it while Moira was under the surgeon’s knife having her tumour removed.

Slow hand clap for that man.

We get that it was stressful for him. We understand that knowing your wife has a brain tumour isn’t easy. But you know what else isn’t easy? Actually having a brain tumour. Moira needed Cain by her side, and he let her down.

    Cain and Ruby kiss
Cain should have walked away (Credit: ITV)

    Taking advantage

AND at the time it was obvious to anyone (except, apparently, Ruby’s own husband Caleb) that she was really struggling with her dad being around.

She was acting very oddly. She was nervy and erratic. Absolutely the last thing Cain Dingle should have done, was to sleep with her.

“Cain should have looked after you,” Caleb told Ruby in tonight’s episode.

He’s totally right. Maybe Cain didn’t know the truth about Anthony at that point, but Ruby was so clearly vulnerable and Cain took advantage.

And he did it – let’s just say it again because it’s so horrific it needs repeating – he did it while Moira was having life-saving brain surgery.

Plus, as if all that wasn’t bad enough, he’s broken Caleb’s heart too. And of course Caleb won’t show it because he’s all Billy Big Boots and asserting himself as the alpha male of the village.

But he grew up without a family, and then he found Cain and Chas, and he was accepted into the Dingles even though he’s really a Tate.

And now the brother he always wanted to know has betrayed him.

No way back for Cain Dingle in Emmerdale

It’s all so awful that we honestly can’t see any way back for Cain and Moira now.  Coira is no more – SOB. But much as we loved them together, that’s how it needs to be, because Moira can’t possibly get over this.

In fact, we’re finding it hard to see a way forward for Cain at all. When the occupants of the limo all stood and listened to his (lame!) excuses for sleeping with Ruby, they were simply showing us what the whole village would think.

There is nothing Cain can say that excuses this.

“You’re pathetic,” Mack told him in disgust. And he’s right. Cain is pathetic.

His bad boy ways have caught up with him at last and he needs to pay the ultimate price and leave the village. Maybe even for good. It’s just a shame so many other people have suffered along the way.

  • Death, devastation and dental issues – it’s all been happening in Emmerdale this week!

Death, devastation and dental issues – it’s all been happening in Emmerdale this week!

It’s been an odd week of Emmerdale to review. It was slightly subdued, and cautious earlier in the week but that was just the calm before the storm, because it all kicked off in spectacular fashion on Friday!

In fact, we’re still reeling from the events of Valentine’s Day in the Dales and we’re not just talking about Liam trying to propose to Chas in a most ungainly fashion.

Of course we mean the dramatic limo crash! But before that happened there were some other goings on in the village.

Here’s what we thought in our Emmerdale review.

April and Marlon with the baby's coffin
April and Marlon with the baby’s coffin was heartbreaking (Credit: ITV)

    April’s torment

April’s ordeal isn’t over as she struggles to make sense of life back in the village. And she’s being – let’s be honest – a bit of a brat about it all. We understand that she’s been through a terrible, awful time. She’s traumatised. She needs help. And Marlon is really annoying, so we sort of get it.

And speaking of Marlon. We’ve mentioned how fed up we were with his behaviour in our Emmerdale review in previous weeks. But, the irritation we’ve felt this whole time faded away this week when he said goodbye to his granddaughter.

The tiny coffin and Marlon’s devastated expression as he tried to keep it together for April was heartbreaking.

    Tom King in Emmerdale
Tom made a surprise return but we didn’t like it! (Credit: ITV)

    Belle’s torment

We need to talk about Tom King. Because what on EARTH happened there, then? Belle trotted off to the prison to speak to her abusive, manipulative, controlling ex-husband about getting a divorce.

And apparently it was on the advice of her solicitor. Frankly, we think she needs better legal representation because that was not right.

The fans weren’t pleased that Tom was back in Belle’s life, and nor were we. Surely this isn’t a thing? We have email and all sorts nowadays – presumably Belle could make use of those to divorce her abusive ex?

Her little smile as she walked away was excellent but her being forced to come face to face with Tom again, was not.

    Aaron and Caleb

    Emmerdale review: Aaron’s torment

Meanwhile the whole Anthony murder cover-up was falling apart. (And we really need to stop seeing Anthony’s tooth.) Caleb – out for revenge on his brother for sleeping with Ruby – put the tooth in Cain’s car. But Aaron saw him do it and came to confront his uncle. Caleb threatened him with CCTV of him taking away Anthony’s stuff, and with the car.

“Loyalty’s for losers,” Caleb told Aaron. Uh-oh.

Limo crash drama in our review of the week

And so Friday arrived – Valentine’s Day – and the men and women of Emmerdale bundled into their respective limousines for a swanky night out. Except Liam ended up with the women, while Mandy was stuck with the men.

But it was all fun and games at first. Liam was determined to propose to Chas, but kept getting interrupted, while the booze flowed and the women laughed and joked.

Meanwhile, it the men’s limo, things weren’t quite so much fun. Caleb had announced that Cain had slept with Ruby and he was losing it. Mack and Matty were fuming at the thought of Cain cheating on Moira, Sam was upset with his brother, too.

Caleb was driving and kept turning round to shout at Cain – much to his passengers’ alarm – full of self-righteous fury. Which we have to say, is a bit rich, given that not long ago, he was having a steamy affair with Tracy – his nephew’s wife.

Anyway, indiscretions aside, as Caleb flew along the dark lanes, not looking where he was going, the limos collided. The passengers were flung about in the back of the cars, and silence fell as one vehicle teetered on an icy lake.

    Who’s in danger?

So who’s in danger? Amy and Matty have been sickeningly happy this week, which gets our cynical Spidey senses tingling. Is one of them for the chop? Amy’s friendship bracelet, made for her by Frankie, seems important. Wasn’t the hand beneath the ice in the flashforward wearing a bracelet just like that?

A hand trapped under the ice in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Could this be Amy’s hand? (Credit: ITV)

Anything can happen in our Emmerdale review

We also reckon Leyla’s at risk, though it pains us to admit it. AND controversial as it may seem,  we’re not sure we’d miss Caleb. We’re so invested in Ruby’s story that he now seems like an unnecessary complication. Much as we love him. And of course we saw him flatline in hospital in the flashforward scenes, too.

But of course this is Emmerdale so anything can happen. For all we know Gail could have been strolling past the lake at the moment the cars hit, or perhaps Nate had returned to see Tracy only to end up trapped beneath the ice. What we do know, is that we’re going to be on tenterhooks all weekend, waiting to see what happens next!

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Caleb went off the rails with horrifying results while Liam made a rash decision

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Caleb went off the rails with horrifying results while Liam made a rash decision

Emmerdale tonight saw a fun trip out end in disaster as the two limousines crashed in spectacular style, and one plunged into an icy lake.

But before the drama there were some fun and games and lots of plans for the future – never a good sign!

Here’s all that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Friday February 14.

Charity Dingle wearing a chaffeur's hat

    There was no limo driver

Suzy was surprised in Emmerdale tonight – and not in a good way when the limos were dropped off first thing in the morning. “You are coming back?” she begged the chaps who’d driven them to the village. But no – turned out she’d ordered the ‘car-only’ package. Which meant she needed to find two drivers – and so the stage was set for the later drama!

Emmerdale tonight: Aaron tried to warn Cain

Aaron was about to tell Cain what Caleb had been up to when he was interrupted by the man himself – along with Ruby and Steph. Steph taunted Cain about him being responsible for Anthony’s disappearance, throwing around accusations.  And Cain stomped off before Aaron got a chance to tell him.

Later in the pub Caleb and Aaron had words again as Caleb demanded to know what Aaron had done with Anthony’s tooth. Aaron told him he’d got rid of it, while Caleb warned him not to rock the boat or he’d be facing prison.

Moira quizzed Cain in Emmerdale tonight

Determined to understand why Cain had been acting so oddly, Moira demanded he assure her that he had absolutely nothing to do with Anthony’s disappearance. Cain promised her he didn’t – which was a rather deliberate bending of the truth. Moira was reassured and urged Cain to join Liam on his night out. A decision he’s probably going to regret! Meanwhile, in Emmerdale tonight, Ruby was talking Caleb into going along too. Uh-oh.

The men get in the limo
The fun began as everyone got in the cars (Credit: ITV)

    The fun began!

As the women clambered into the limos, Mandy was distracted by a very drunk Vinny being helped along the road by Sam. She decided to help her son home before she joined the party and begged the others to wait for her. And Mack was relieved when – a fairly tetchy – Caleb took over driving the men’s limo.

Liam decided to go for it

As everyone waited for Mandy to return before they set off, a pensive Liam decided he was going to propose to Chas after all. He marched over to the women’s limo – with a bit of encouragement from Paddy.

And as he got in, Paddy told Charity to drive away, bundling Mandy over to the men’s car.

Chas wasn’t overly impressed with their uninvited guest, and nor were the rest of the women! Liam settled down in the limo trying to pluck up the courage to pop the question.

    Cain was nervous

Sensing something was up with his brother, Cain was on edge. And as Sam reminisced about his dad Zak and his loyalty, Caleb got even crosser. He asked Sam to explain Dingle loyalty to him. And he added that betrayal was never acceptable.

“Ask him why he slept with my wife,” he eventually snarled.

Emmerdale tonight: Amy and Kerry in the limo
The fun before the disaster in the limo (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale tonight: Things got dangerous!

Sam demanded to know if Caleb was telling the truth, Mack and Matty were furious and Cain assured them it meant nothing. But that didn’t help! Caleb was even angrier when Cain dismissed Ruby so easily. “She means everything to me,” he shouted. He began driving faster and faster, as Cain begged him to pull over or slow down.

But as Caleb lost control, the other limo approached. And just when Liam asked Chas to marry him, the cars collided. The passengers were thrown from their seats, drinks went flying, and one limo plunged into the frozen lake.

Who will survive the horrifying crash?

  • As Dr Liam plans to pop the question to Chas Dingle, here is her disastrous love history!

As Dr Liam plans to pop the question to Chas Dingle, here is her disastrous love history!

Chas Dingle in Emmerdale – as Ella recently pointed out – has got a lot of experience when it comes to love and marriage.

She’s been married, divorced, engaged, and everything in between. In fact, she’s notched up three husbands, one (jilted) fiance, a couple of steamy affairs and an ill-fated romance in her time in the village.

Now she seems happily loved up with Dr Liam, and he – it turns out – is hatching a plan to make an honest woman of her! That’s right. The much-married medic is keen to add to his own tally of spouses, and ask Chas to be his wife!

Liam and Chas are caught out by Ella

    Dramatic night out!

As it turns out the proposal very much does not go to plan. First Liam doesn’t win the raffle he’d hoped to fix in his favour so the prize of a night out in a limo goes to Kerry instead. He is forced to book another fancy car for the evening – except that means the village divides into men and women and he joins the fellas in their limo while Chas hangs out with the ladies!

And there’s worse to come as both cars end up leaving the road, with one crashing into an icy lake!

So while we wait to find out if anyone survives the dramatic frozen plunge, we thought we’d take a look back at Chas’s relationship history.

Just how many weddings has she had? Here’s the lowdown.

The limo plunges into the icy lake

Chas Dingle’s first love – Gordon Livesy

Chas married young, to Gordon, the father of her son Aaron. They were divorced long before Chas arrived in Emmerdale. Though they briefly rekindled their romance, Chas was horrified when Aaron revealed his father had sexually abused him as a child. Gordon was found guilty when Aaron bravely reported his abuse, but took his own life in prison.

Carl King – jilted by Chas!

Carl King and Chas were together for aaaaages, off and on. They got engaged but Carl’s roving eye meant he was having a secret affair with Edna Birch’s granddaughter, Eve.

When Chas found out, she was – not surprisingly – furious. But instead of calling off the wedding, sneaky Ms Dingle decided to hit her cheating fiance where it hurt – in his wallet!

She pocketed the money he was giving her to pay for a lavish do, and then jilted him at the altar, adding humiliation to her revenge, too.

Later, Carl tried to rape Chas and she whacked him over the head and thought she’d killed him. She even served time for his murder. But it turned out she hadn’t struck the deadly blow – that was her other lover, Cameron Murray…

Chas Dingle and her steamy love affair with Cameron Murray in Emmerdale

Chas fell for Cameron, who was in a relationship with her niece Debbie at the time. He played the two women off against one another and that wasn’t the worst of his crimes, by a long way. Because Cameron turned out to be one the village’s most deadly killers!

He murdered Gennie Walker – Chas’s half-sister -as well as finishing off Carl King and farmhand Alex Moss. And he held the drinkers at the Woolpack hostage at gunpoint. What a guy!

Chas Dingle love: Chas and Dan tie the knot in church

Dan Spencer – Emmerdale’s quickest marriage?

Perhaps on the hunt for a good man after a string of disasters, Chas got together with Dan Spencer. They were always an odd pairing with neither of them seeming to be that excited about their relationship. But they got engaged and planned to wed on the same day as Katie Sugden and Declan Macey in 2012 – Emmerdale’s 40th anniversary!

Despite marrying Dan, Chas was being blackmailed by Carl who knew about her night with Cameron. He threatened to expose her secrets unless she ran off with him. Chas agreed, though she didn’t mean it.

Meanwhile, she desperately tried to convince Dan they should leave Emmerdale together. Dan thought she was trying to leave him – on their wedding day! While Carl saw through her lie and tried to rape her.

Chas’s new marriage barely lasted an hour. She ended up leaving poor Dan for Cameron. And we know how well that turned out.

James Barton came with a lot of baggage when he got with Chas Dingle in Emmerdale!

A romance with James Barton followed for Chas but he came with a LOT of baggage in the shape of his three grown-up sons (four if you count Adam Barton who he later discovered was his son, too). And let’s not forget his ex-wife Emma Barton who turned out to be a total disaster!

When Emma arrived in the village, she and James slept together. When Chas found out, she finished things with James – getting out just in the nick of time. Because Emma went on to hold James hostage, she pushed him off the Hotton bypass footbridge, killing him, shot son Finn and almost murdered Moira Dingle. For once, Chas got out before disaster struck!

Paddy and Chas Dingle in Emmerdale and their Christmas wedding

When Chas and Paddy rekindled their romance from several years before it seemed they were meant to be. Their relationship stayed strong even when Chas unexpectedly found she was pregnant – and when they discovered their unborn baby had a condition that meant she wasn’t going to survive for long after birth.

Chas and Paddy supported one another as she gave birth to little Grace, and the baby died in their arms just 29 minutes after she was born.

They were delighted when Chas got pregnant again and gave birth to healthy Eve, and for a while things were great.

Of course, things never stay calm for long in the Dingle family and Paddy decided to plan a surprise wedding for Chas! Despite a few hiccups along the way, the pair did tie the knot at Christmas in 2020.

But it wasn’t happy ever after for the new Mr and Mrs Dingle.

Al Chapman – disaster after disaster!

Chas began a steamy affair with horrible Al Chapman, horrifying fans! She neglected her family and even missed being with her mum Faith when she died because she was with Al. It wasn’t good!

Al was killed in the storm back in 2022, and Chas was devastated. But Paddy already knew about the affair. He kicked Chas out and their marriage was over. Not surprisingly!

Will Chas’s relationship with Liam go the distance? We’ll have to wait and see!

  • Leyla Harding and the drug addiction that saw her nearly die – and son Jacob too

Leyla Harding and the drug addiction that saw her nearly die – and son Jacob too

Leyla Harding has battled a secret (at first – it soon became pretty public!) addiction to cocaine for several years and while she seems on top of things for now, we all know it’s never that straightforward.

So, with Leyla having a hard time at the moment, the shadow of her addiction is right there and we’re worried she could be tempted back to taking drugs.

Her addiction cost her marriage to Liam and ended with her son Jacob being stabbed. Here’s everything you need to know.

    Meena’s legacy

Meena Jutla terrorised the village for several months. She murdered Leyla’s stepdaughter Leanna on her 18th birthday, leaving her dad Liam devastated. Leyla supported Liam through the dark times, but then had her own encounter with Meena when she returned to the village.

Meena kidnapped Billy and Dawn on their wedding day and held them at gunpoint on the viaduct. She told Billy to either shoot himself or his wife – or she’d shoot them both.

But there was a bit of a struggle and the gun went off. Just as wedding planner Leyla arrived after hunting down the missing couple.

She was hit by a bullet and for a while viewers even thought she could become one of Meena’s victims.

    Leyla Harding: Downward spiral

Thankfully, Leyla survived – but she began to spiral downwards, though it wasn’t obvious at the time.

But then, later that same year, Suzy arrived in the village. It was clear there was a link between her and Leyla – more than them both being in the wedding business.

And it turned out, that link was cocaine! Suzy was also a drug user and she and Leyla had a few wild nights out together.

But then things changed. Suzy met Vanessa and settled in the village, despite her hiding a dark secret. She had been with Holly Barton the night she took an overdose and died.

    Callum walks away from Leyla
Callum was Leyla’s drug dealer and he ended up kidnapping her!

    Getting worse

While Suzy got clean, Leyla didn’t. She fell further into her addiction and even ended up blackmailing Suzy for a while over her links to Holly’s death.

She got mixed up with Jai’s one-time dealer Jason, and another nasty piece of work, Callum. And she eventually suffered a heart attack after she’d overdosed.

And that wasn’t even the end of it. When Jacob found out a few months later that his mum was back on the drugs, he took himself off to confront dealer Callum – only to end up stabbed!

In the aftermath of that, Callum wanted to revenge. He kidnapped Leyla, and then Suzy and Jacob too, and held them all at gunpoint.

Not surprisingly, Leyla ditched the drugs after that.

    But for how long?!

  • Top 7 feuds involving Cain Dingle that shook Emmerdale

Top 7 feuds involving Cain Dingle that shook Emmerdale

Cain Dingle has been involved in a lot of feuds because let’s face he’s made a lot of enemies! He’s been tangled up in all sorts throughout his years in Emmerdale, from love affairs gone wrong, intense rivalries, conflicts with family members, and taking on more than one resident of Home Farm!

Here’s the lowdown on all the storylines that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.

Cain Dingle and his feuds in Emmerdale

    Cain v the Kings

Cain got on the wrong side of the whole King family when he started a steamy affair with Sadie who was Jimmy’s ex-wife and Matthew’s fiancée.

Sadie paid Cain to drive a JCB into the show home at the Kings River development.
The family botched the repairs, and the house exploded on the day of the opening.

Dawn Woods, Noreen Bell and an estate agent called David, all died and the Kings covered up the explosion.

And that was the beginning of the end.

Cain and Sadie plotted to kidnap patriarch Tom King and demand a £5 million ransom. In some super-dramatic scenes, Cain took Tom and Sadie on a wild car chase across fields, tied them up in a barn and shot Sadie in the stomach and killed her!

Tom agreed to pay, and gave Chas the money to pass on. But where was dead Sadie?

Well, she had been in on the whole thing and made contact with Cain, arranging to meet him at an airfield to make their escape.

Except Cain had been holding a grudge against her too. He ditched Sadie in revenge for her paying for Jasmine Thomas to abort his baby. Then he ran – with all the money!

    Cain v Zak Dingle

In 2011, Cain had made a lot of enemies in the village and it all came to a head one night in the pub as he unleashed a torrent of abuse on everyone. That same night, Cain was attacked with an crowbar and left for dead.

John Barton was arrested for the crime, and Cain thought it had been Jai Sharma who hit him.

But it turned out Zak – Cain’s own dad – was responsible. Cain was shocked and Zak struggled with his guilt, eventually having a mental breakdown.

    Cain v Nate Robinson

Cain’s wife Moira couldn’t resist the charms of handsome new farmhand Nate Robinson. Cain was suspicious, and followed them to a hotel, then persuaded them out for a boat trip. Out on the water, Cain confronted the pair and Nate angrily revealed he was Cain’s son!

In the scuffle that followed, Moira was knocked into the lake, Cain dived in to rescue her and the boat exploded!

Moira shoved Cain aside to rescue Nate, making it clear where her affections lay.

Thankfully Cain and Moira eventually reunited and accepted Nate into the family. Though they aren’t speaking any more and Nate’s moved to Shetland.

    Cain v Angie Reynolds

Cain’s known to be a bad boy, but possibly the worst he’s ever behaved was during his stormy romance with policewoman Angie Reynolds. Angie was married with two teenage children but that didn’t stop her falling for Cain. Their romance began after Butch Dingle’s death when Cain tried to intimidate Angie.

In response, Angie tried to get Cain arrested for various crimes, but never managed. And throughout it all, they became increasingly attracted to one another.

When her husband Sean started an affair with Lady Tara, Angie gave into temptation. But when she ended her romance with Cain to try to fix her marriage he reacted very badly!

He seduced Angie’s teenage daughter Ollie and pushed her elderly father Len down the stairs! Angie tried to get revenge by setting Cain up for a robbery. But things went wrong and Angie crashed her police car. She died in Cain’s arms.

    Cain v Amy Wyatt

Another ill-advised affair for Cain was his brief romance with troubled teenager Amy Wyatt. When she told him she was pregnant he tried to frighten her into having an abortion, though she didn’t agree.

Eventually the terrified teen gave birth alone and, thinking he was stillborn, she left him in a phonebox.

When he was found alive, Amy went through with her plan to have him adopted. She and her son – now called Kyle – were reunited years later and he divides his time between his mum and his dad.

    Cain v Joe Tate

Joe Tate fooled Debbie Dingle into believing he was a businessman called Tom Waterhouse. And then when she’d found out his real identity and his plan for revenge on Charity, he fooled Debs again as they planned a wedding, because it turned out he plotting to rob Kim Tate of her fortune.

In among all the drama, Cain decked Joe and thought he’d killed him. As it turned out, Joe was fine, but Cain felt awful! Not awful enough to be pleased that Joe’s turned up again, mind you.

Kyle looks sad in a barn

    Cain v Al Chapman

Cain was furious when he found out that his sister Chas had been having an affair with evil Al Chapman.

Determined to drive Al out of the village, he confronted him in the barn, but things took a dark turn as the men fought. Cain’s son Kyle was hiding out in the barn and he shot Al dead!

Cain took the blame, but eventually Kyle was revealed to be the real killer and the shooting was declared an accident.

Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett: ‘punch’ scandal, Corrie toyboy ex, where she is now

Roxanne Pallett played Jo Sugden in Emmerdale for three years from 2005 until 2008.

On-screen Jo was a man-eater, who seduced Andy Sugden and ended his marriage, but became a victim of domestic violence.

Off-screen, though, Roxanne’s personal life was almost as colourful.

Here’s everything you need to know.

    Roxanne Pallett’s early years

Roxanne was born in Carlisle, and started her career singing in a girl band – Urban Angel – managed by E17 star Tony Mortimer.

When she landed the role of Jo Stiles – later Jo Sugden – in Emmerdale, she continued to sing. She took part in talent show Soapstar Superstar and came fourth. And while on the show she met Coronation Street star Richard Fleeshman who became her partner for two years.

The pair got together when Richard was just 16, and Roxanne was 23 but split in 2007.

    Moving on

After leaving Emmerdale, Roxanne went on to take part in Dancing on Ice in 2009, partnered with Dan Whiston.

She appeared in Casualty and Waterloo Road, as well as taking stage roles in The Vagina Monologues and Rock Around the Clock plus The Rocky Horror Show and The Wedding Singer.

    Celebrity Big Brother

In 2018, Roxanne went into the Big Brother house. While in the house she accused her housemate, Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, of punching her.

During a chat about laundry, Ryan had playfully shadowboxed Roxanne. But later she told Big Brother it had made her uncomfortable and when she told the other housemates about it, she demonstrated by punching one of them hard in the ribs.

Ryan told Big Brother that there was no malice but Roxanne said he was lying and manipulating the others.

When TOWIE star Dan Osborne questioned why Ryan was allowed to remain in the house, Big Brother told him it was “worth thinking about” why Ryan hadn’t been removed.

But when he tackled Roxanne, telling her that the accusations were “career-stopping” for Ryan, she didn’t back down. She eventually walked out of the house.

After Roxanne left, presenter Emma Willis gave her a grilling. “I was wrong, massively wrong,” Roxanne said.

Other people who had worked with Roxanne before her Big Brother appearance told Emma Willis that she had a reputation for lying.

And Roxanne said she was “the most hated girl in Britain”.

    Where is Roxanne Pallett now?

Since the Celebrity Big Brother scandal, Roxanne has stepped away from the spotlight.

In 2020 she married firefighter and Married At First Sight contestant Jason Carrion. And in 2021 she announced she was expecting her first baby. Roxanne’s now deleted her social media accounts.
