Viewers of Emmerdale will be well aware that Mack is married to Charity, although he actually spends very little time with his wife it seems.
Yes, Mack actually sees more of his bestie Aaron and his new enemy John Sugden. Poor Charity hardly gets a look in.
But, why does Mack feel the need to be around Aaron 24/7? Are they really just best mates? Or, is a certain someone jealous of John?
Look at that smile! (Credit: ITV)
Mack and Aaron: The biggest bromance is the Dales
So, we’re not entirely sure how Aaron stands to be around Mack as often as he does but the guy must have an extremely high tolerance to annoying mechanics, we guess.
Nevertheless, everyone knows that Mack and Aaron are inseparable. Even Charity’s had the pleasure of making some jokey comments about Mack’s bromance.
But, is a bromance all it is? Currently, Mack’s world is revolving around John Sugden. Starting up a feud with him, Mack was loving teaming up with Aaron to scheme against Victoria’s half-brother.
Mack had the biggest smile on his face as he and Aaron ended up driving John’s van into a lake. And, Mack was kind of hoping that Aaron would be on his side when bull-gate happened.
Instead of confronting John about Mack’s accident though, Aaron ended up giving into temptation in a passionate moment with John.
Of course, when Mack found out about this he was livid and had a right go at Aaron for failing to have his back. When Aaron later informed Mack that he and John weren’t a thing, Mack couldn’t hide his joy (if only he knew that John was hiding in the flat ready to get it on with his best friend just moments later!) But, do Mack’s concerns over John only come from a place of friendship?
Does Mack have feelings for Aaron? (Credit: ITV)
John jealousy for Mack?
With Aaron sneaking off to spend more time with John, Mack’s not going to be happy that he’s seeing less of his mate, is he?
This feud with John seems a bit pointless now considering that Mack was only ever getting revenge on John for Aaron in the first place. But, with Aaron making amends with John now, what reason does Mack have to keep the vendetta going?
Well, could it be because Mack’s jealous of John? Does he actually have romantic feelings for his friend and is desperate to get John out of the picture?
The chemistry is obvious (Credit: ITV)
Mack and Aaron: The hottest new Emmerdale couple?
Whenever Mack’s with Charity in a scene, he’s always moaning about something. The person who lets him be his true, authentic and (absolutely infuriating) self just has to be Aaron.
There’s no denying that Mack and Aaron make a good team. They’re like the rhubarb to each other’s custard… And, we reckon that Mack realising that he’s also into men as well as women and starting a relationship with Aaron could just be the next best thing in soap!
Maybe this would give us a reason as to why Mack acts like a jealous teenager around John… Does he have the hots for Aaron? We hope so!
So, it turns out that Mack didn’t die after his bull incident and remained very much alive in Emmerdale tonight as he returned to the village.
Elsewhere, Jai seemed to come to his senses and attempted to make peace with Laurel (finally!)
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Friday, August 30.
Mack is alive (Credit: Emmerdale)
Mack made a quick recovery
Last night (Thursday, August 29), Mack had a run in with a bull and ended up falling off a barn gate. He insisted that he was fine but later collapsed at home and was rushed to hospital.
Well, tonight, Mack’s fate was revealed as he was seen sitting up and talking away in his hospital bed.
It seemed that the blow to his head hadn’t altered his personality in any way (unfortunately) as he remained set on getting revenge on John as soon as he returned back home.
Things were made rather awks though when Moira admitted that she may’ve actually been to blame for the whole bull thing. Not John.
Aaron and John got it on
With Aaron trying to be there for his best mate Mack, Vic landed him right in it. She revealed that she saw Aaron and John having a rather cosy moment together in the barn.
Mack was livid that Aaron had succumb to John’s charms instead of defending him. Later though, he went to apologise to Aaron for his childish behaviour.
Happy to have patched things up and with his bromance still in tact, Mack headed off happy now that Aaron had reassured him that nothing was going on between him and John as John was leaving (he was basically forced out of his job by Moira.)
Little did Mack know was that John was hiding in Aaron’s bedroom the whole time, ready to continue where they left off before they were ever so rudely interrupted by Aaron’s super annoying bestie.
Jai no longer wanted to rid Laurel of her home (Credit: ITV)
Jai made peace
It turns out Jai really wasn’t a fan of Arthur’s new bad boy personality transplant, with Arthur actually scaring him (we still don’t know how!)
Despite Caleb encouraging Jai to rinse Laurel of every penny so that they could move forward with their business agreement, Jai softened and announced to Laurel that he would no longer be after half of Mulberry Cottage. Phew. So, does this mean that Jai and Laurel are FINALLY going to stop acting like bickering teenagers and be civil?
Tracy was a tad bit jealous (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale tonight: Tracy was jealous
Tracy and Nate were thrilled that Frankie’s key worker had declared her such a superstar, with the little one even making them both bracelets.
Happy to be getting along and co-parenting Frankie, Tracy suddenly felt a pang of jealousy emerge in her stomach as Nate rushed off to answer a mystery phone call. But, is Nate dating someone new?
Jimmy backtracked
Yesterday evening, Jimmy agreed to sell the Haulage to Caleb as Caleb made him a decent offer.
After a chat with Will though, Jimmy backtracked and told Caleb that he’d had second thoughts.
Caleb was surprisingly calm and collected about the whole thing (but inside we just know that he was seething!)
Will feared his tormentor
With Will making Jimmy aware of the threatening letter he received in a bouquet of roses last night, he started to wonder who was behind the threats.
At first he considered Rose, but a little look at Lydia on her phone in The Hide had him second guessing everyone! Someone knows what Will did, but who?
Emmerdale has shared a dramatic first look at the upcoming barn fire that will put several villagers’ lives in danger.
The fire will send shockwaves through the village, with the promo teasing that secrets will be revealed.
In recent weeks, Moira has been acting strangely and drinking, causing her family to worry. It is her actions that set off the devastating chain of events… But who exactly is in danger in the Emmerdale barn fire?
Moira appears to be on a rampage (Credit: ITV)
Moira
In the short, thirty second teaser released by Emmerdale, Moira appears to be in the thick of the action.
First spotted kissing Nate (and on the end of some threatening words from him: “If you blab about what happened when you’re half cut”), she’s soon seen wielding a shotgun, shooting out a light, and dishing out a slap.
She’s also foremost in Cain’s thoughts – will the barn inferno finally be the moment everything burns to the ground for Moira?
Is Ruby’s time in Emmerdale nearly up? (Credit: ITV)
Ruby
Ruby barely features in the trailer, which could be a diversion away from expectations for her getting caught up in it?
The contemptible villainess has also been part of Emmerdale for less than a year, however. And while we reckon plenty of fans would be glad to see the back of her, we’ve an awful feeling our heartstrings are in for a fiercer plucking…
Is Nate done for? (Credit: ITV)
Nate
Oh dear, oh dear – it isn’t looking great for hunky Nate. With reports suggesting Nate is on his way from Emmerdale, and just as if it looks like his relationship with Tracy might be healed (he’s locking lips with her in the trailer), soap sod’s law probably means Nate will cark it… just as a happy ending (even if he managed to patch it up with Tracy and convince her to relocate to Scotland with him) seemed to be a possibility…
“See that’s the problem, I want you to come with me,” Nate is heard telling someone – presumably Tracy, as the voiceover airs over footage of them kissing.
Is Nate doomed?
Could Tom die in the barn fire? (Credit: ITV)
Tom
Again, Tom is another Emmerdale regular many fans might not be sad to see fall victim to the fire. After all, he’s probably guaranteed a trip to the burning depths of hell anyway, for how he’s abused Belle.
That gaslighting and manipulation is on show again in the trailer, as he is seen placing a hand over her mouth, and also telling her: “You look so beautiful when you cry.”
What a creep! Tom’s also seen collapsing with a head wound. Could this be his bloody end?
Caleb wouldn’t be missed by many Emmerdale residents (Credit: ITV)
Caleb
When it comes to stacking up bad karma, Caleb may have picked up more through the sharing of bad vibes than any of other Emmerdale rotters caught up in the fire.
“I saw Moira with Nate, kissing,” he is heard saying in voiceover, to an unidentified someone else.
Loose lips can sink ships, as they say. And in this case, it isn’t Moira and Nate’s lips – but chatting about them instead could prove damning for Caleb.
Seen sneaking around the barn, Caleb may also be among the three figures – it is hard to definitely say who is who at the end of the trailer. But one outline certainly does look like him… and goes limp as an explosion goes off!
Will Mack make it? (Credit: ITV)
Mack
Similarly, we’re not sure whether Mack might be one of the three spied at the end of the teaser. One may be Caleb, and another appears to be John, possibly.
Additionally, Mack might be the person who appears to have a burning ceiling beam drop on them… or is that Nate?
After his recent close encounter with a bull, has Mack’s luck in defying death run out?
Could John be a goner? (Credit: ITV)
John
John‘s only just joined Emmerdale in recent months, so we’re hopeful that could mean a thumbs up for his prospects. But we’re not sure, even though it could indicated he will escape death in the barn.
He looks to be very involved, though. “Call the fire brigade now, tell them someone’s trapped,” he’s heard saying, sounding like a man attempting to get control of a situation.
But other glimpses in the trailer show nobody is in control. And does he end up trapped himself when an explosion goes off?
Will Belle be ok? (Credit: ITV)
Belle
As if being in the clutches of the mad, bad, and dangerous to know Tom isn’t enough to keep Belle occupied, the drama keeps on building as she looks to be in a right state as flames lick around her.
Not only does Tom appear to restrain her at one point, she is also shown to be out for the count with the blaze mere feet away.
Could Belle’s words in voiceover end up as her own eulogy? “I love you so much. And that love is never going to go away,” she is heard to say.
Could Emmerdale lose Tracy? (Credit: ITV)
Tracy
Is anyone guaranteed a happy ending in Soapland? Just as if it seems like Tracy and Nate might be able to get things back on track with Nate, it seems like he might relocate to Scotland.
Then, going by the trailer, it seems like Caleb hasn’t finished causing trouble for Nate – and the fears of Nate departing the soap in a coffin seem very real.
If Nate leaves, could Tracy be set for an exit, too?
Cain looks aghast (Credit: ITV)
Cain
He doesn’t feature all that much in the trailer – and he’s certainly outlasted many Emmerdale veterans in similarly hazardous situations – but Cain‘s luck can’t last forever.
Moira, as ever, appears to be a catalyst for trouble. And like a moth attracted to the flame, Cain is pulled into danger as he’s seen desperately calling his wife’s name as he arrives at the fiery scene, and also peering through flames.
Will is having a rough time (Credit: ITV)
Will
Despite his prominence in Emmerdale’s biggest storylines, Will‘s presence in the teaser is a relatively small one.
As with Ruby, that could be part of a soap plot red herring – not giving too much away in the trailer.
But, as he often appears, Will has a look full of regret in the preview. He’s been having a really rough go of it recently. Could a terrible death in the burning barn be the full stop to his miserable time in Emmerdale?
It was reported earlier in the summer that actor Jurell, 32, might be on his way out of the ITV soap – and an “explosive” exit could be in the works.
An anonymous insider is said to have told The Sun back in June: “Nate has been at the centre of some huge storylines and his exit will be no different,†a source told the publication.
Nate Robinson will definitely be missed, as will Jurell (Credit: YouTube)
“It will be dramatic and explosive and will go down in Emmerdale history. It won’t be one to miss.
“Jurell has loved being on the soap but he’s a young actor and it’s understandable he wants to spread his wings. Five years is a good run but he feels it’s time.”
So, with that in mind, here’s everything we know about what’s been claimed about Nate‘s – and Jurell’s – departure from the Dales.
Could Tracy and Nate be split up again just as they’re working things out together? (Credit: ITV)
Her jealousy builds as Nate is evasive, pulling away to speak on the phone. And he doesn’t offer all that much detail about who he speaks to or what the call is about, either.
It soon becomes apparent that the thought of Nate having met someone is bothering her.
However, as it turns out, Nate isn’t taking secretive calls from another love interest (although you can understand why Tracy might not put that past him.)
Instead, he’s been offered work in Scotland, which isn’t exactly a few fields over from the village.
Is travelling north for a job how Nate might move on from Emmerdale?
It had recently been looking like Nate and Tracy might be able to patch things up between them.
A reunion might even have appeared to be on the cards. However, it seems now that Nate and Tracy will feature in the upcoming massive barn fire storyline.
So now we’re concerned that Nate might not head up to the Highlands, and actually end up a victim of the blaze instead as he’s seen running towards the barn fire in the soap’s latest promo trailer for September.
Ahead of that, however, it seems another nasty shock is in store for Nate and Tracy.
After Nate opens up to Mack about relocating, the pressure is soon on him to make a decision.
Set a deadline of the next day to make his mind up, Nate is said to be torn about what to do.
He does finally share his news with Tracy, but both are reluctant to fully address about how they feel about each other.
Additionally, the pair are then hit with another worrying matter as they realised their young daughter Frankie has disappeared.
A frantic search proves fruitless, and they have to turn to the police for help.
But will Franke be found? Will Nate survive long enough to move to Scotland? And if he does, will Tracy or Frankie be joining him?
The Emmerdale divorce between Laurel and Jai is currently playing out. And we’ve certainly taken sides.
What was she ever thinking in saying ‘I do’ to him, without that sentence ending with ‘want to push him into a massive cow pat?’
There are many, many reasons why we cannot understand how Jai wormed his way into marriage with Laurel. And here are just a few why we’re so glad she’s almost shot of him.
What a snake (Credit: ITV)
Jai just can’t be trusted
A habitual liar, Jai only ever looks out for himself – and to line his pockets.
Any of his shameful approaches to the division of assets as the former couple plan for their lives without each other demonstrate just how low he’s prepared to go to stash away his pennies.
And even in the past week he’s been caught fibbing he was skint during a mediation session… and this comes despite making a few quid on her share purchase relating to The Hide!
He’s also plotting with Caleb, who Jai is daft for turning to in the first place. Fingers crossed the two rogues will soon turn on each other.
Additionally, amid Laurel and Jai being on-off on-off before they got hitched, she previously took him back in early 2022 after a break up relating to money.
He’d taken a loan out in her name, saying he needed to pay off fines… and she let it go!
Soon be free of the louse, Laurel, don’t fret (Credit: ITV)
He’s after her house!
Of course, pilfering Jai has eyed up other assets belonging to Laurel, too, beyond that loan application.
The sneaky so-and-so also wants to walk away with Laurel’s house – the home she and and her late husband Ashley lived in for years.
Yes, she may have found ways to move on with her life after Ashley’s sad passing in 2018.
But that house has been the foundations for Laurel’s life, and the site of so many important family memories, including where Gabby, Arthur, and Dotty have been raised.
Put simply: Hands off Jai, Mulberry Cottage isn’t up for grabs.
Don’t let Jai get Mulberry Cottage! (Credit: ITV)
Jai’s at fault
Furthermore, Jai’s being an absolute man-baby about the divorce in general – and particularly when it comes to property, as seen with Laurel’s home..
However, not only has he also flogged off Holdgate Farm and Tenant’s Cottage in order to deny Laurel a share of the proceeds, let’s not forget who’s truly at fault for all of this domestic strife coming to a head in the first place.
After all, it was Jai’s behaviour that’s left the couple on the rocks. Back in June, Laurel rumbled Jai after he was secretive about Amit Sharma’s true role in the death of Rishi Sharma.
And ultimately, Jai wasn’t able to prevent Laurel realising something was up – and he admitted to torturing Amit, forcing him out of the village, and swiping his share of The Hop!
It is hard to see what responsibility Laurel could bear for any of this, including Jai’s unhinged conduct. So he should take his punishment – and a hefty dent in his assets – for lying to his missus in the first place.
Laurel is getting rid and we couldn’t be happier about it (Credit: ITV)
Laurel’s been through enough!
It is also worth considering whether Jai may be attempting to kill Laurel off by wearing her down over time.
Earlier this summer she had a heart attack, seemingly brought on by a row with Jai. Laurel collapsed after chucking him out, and was found struggling to breathe by Gabby.
As she recovered in hospital, Laurel revealed to Suni Sharma how Jai had ruthlessly gone after shares in The Hop which he might have expected would come to him.
Laurel also told Jai their marriage was over from her hospital bed. But it seemed to take a good while for him to process what she was saying. And accept they were done.
Please, no more stress for Laurel – we don’t want a funeral happening… Well, not hers, anyway.
There’s no denying Jai is an absolute plonker in every way (Credit: ITV)
Jai’s a plonker
Set aside, just for a moment, everything that has gone on between Jai and Laurel during the course of their relationship.
And now cast your mind back to when they weren’t involved, years ago. When she worked in the factory when she was really struggling with her addiction to alcohol. Jai wanted rid of Laurel, as he didn’t want an alcoholic in his workforce.
Two questions beg: Why wasn’t Laurel straight on to HR? And why the heck didn’t this treatment pop up as a consideration ahead of them getting wed?
Arthur Thomas is back in Emmerdale. Thursday’s episode (August 29) saw a return to the Dales for Arthur following a brief break.
During his absence, he has missed out on a whole heap of drama, including mum Laurel’s heart attack and her split from Jai.
But where exactly has Arthur been and why did he leave Emmerdale?
Arthur returned to the Dales (Credit: ITV)
Where did Arthur go?
The start of the year was a tough one for Arthur after his friend Heath died in a car accident.
He later disappeared from screen for a couple of months…
Following an argument with new husband Jai, who insulted her late husband – and Arthur’s dad – Ashley, Laurel suffered a heart attack.
It was during her recovery that Arthur’s absence was mentioned on screen – with Laurel explaining he was in Australia.
Viewers previously saw Arthur’s grandfather Doug leave the Dales for a new life in Australia in 2020, so presumably Arthur went to spend time with him following his tough year.
Arthur left before Laurel and Jai split (Credit: ITV)
Why did Arthur leave?
In real life, Alfie Clarke, who plays Arthur was studying for his GCSEs. The youngster is 16, so took time off to concentrate on his exams.
He shared photos to Instagram of himself and his mates at his school prom. He later posted a snap of the Emmerdale sign with the caption: “Good to be back.”
But what has he come back to? Mum Laurel is currently struggling amid Jai’s determination to fight dirty in their divorce. Laurel has had to continue working with her ex and faced insults daily. Will Arthur’s return lift her spirits?
Spoilers for the rest of the week share that Arthur wastes no time in defending his mum and Jai is unsettled to see that Arthur means business…
Suddenly being chased by the bull (and he wasn’t even wearing red), Mack made a run for it and jumped over the barn gate but… he ended up slipping and hitting his head on the ground.
Nate came running to his rescue but Mack ensured him that he was fine. Instead, he was adamant that John had placed the bull there to get revenge on him for destroying his van (and who could blame him?!)
Later on, Charity suggested that they got revenge on John and honestly we would’ve loved to see it. But, the pair didn’t have chance to finalise a plan as Mack ended up collapsing.
Charity then ended up accompanying Mack in the ambulance whilst ranting at Aaron… Why Aaron? We’ll get to that next!
Aaron and John had a moment of passion (Credit: ITV)
Vic got more than she bargained for
So, after finding out about Mack’s incident, Aaron went to confront John to see whether he’d been responsible for the bull in the barn.
However, John managed to change the topic of conversation, drawing him in for a kiss.
They definitely were prepared to take things further but were awkwardly stopped in their tracks when Vic turned up at the barn and saw her brother about to get it on with her former brother-in-law. Poor Vic!
Whilst Aaron made it clear tonight that he ‘doesn’t do dates,’ it looks like a potential romance could be brewing between the Dingle and Sugden. Oooohhhh!
With all of this going on, Aaron simply didn’t realise that Mack’s injuries were more serious than first thought hence Charity’s rage.
Arthur returned to the Dales (Credit: ITV)
Arthur’s back and he’s out to get Jai
After living it up in the sun, Arthur finally came back to the Dales just as Gabby and Vinny were having a romantic moment.
Laurel was absolutely thrilled to see Arthur, flinging her arms around him. But, it wasn’t long before he found out everything about Jai and Laurel’s messy divorce.
He then went to pay Jai a little visit and told him to make things right with Laurel or he’d have him to answer to. Now, unless Arthur has undergone a huge personality change during his time away, we doubt Jai felt very threatened by this.
Kim’s back, but Will’s being tormented
The Queen of Home Farm returned to the Dales tonight after her time away in Dubai.
Will told Dawn the news but she wasn’t really impressed… (Well, at least we thought that it called for the ‘Breaking News’ klaxon, Dawn…)
Back at home, Will prepared a romantic surprise for Kim but ended up receiving some flowers with a note from a tormentor… Quickly hiding the note, Will handed the roses to Kim and said that he’d got them for her. Kim had a double sniff of the flowers and everything seemed to be rosy once again between the couple.
Jimmy decided to sell the Haulage (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale tonight: Jimmy was ready to sell up
Jimmy realised that it was time to sell the Haulage, offering the business to Caleb.
However, Gabby warned Jimmy about handing it over to Caleb. There must be a reason why Caleb would want a crumbling business, and it probably wasn’t a good one. You listen to Gabby, Jimmy!
She then asked for Manpreet at the surgery but Liam would have to do. Whilst describing her symptoms to Liam, she zoned out.
Liam admitted that Moira could be suffering from the menopause but there were countless numbers of other conditions that also had similar symptoms. He then referred Moira to Wendy for some blood tests. Hopefully, this will help her get to the bottom of things because we’re all very concerned about her!
The latest episode of Emmerdale (Thursday, August 29), saw Mackenzie Boyd in a life-threatening situation – yet again (surprise, surprise!)
Of all the ways to meet your maker, being chased by a bull is at least an exciting option. That’s if Mack is really dead…
The unpopular mechanic has faced numerous near death experiences since arriving in the village as Moira’s long lost brother back in 2020 (long lost relatives are the only kind of relatives in Soapland.)
So is the game really up for him this time, or is he actually a cat with nine lives?
Has Mack finally met his match? (Credit: Emmerdale)
What happened to Mack?
The latest episode of Emmerdale saw mechanic Mack head to the barn to fix a quad bike. In order to work on it safely, John and Nate said they’d move the bull to the field.
However, when Mack arrived, the bull was still in the barn area and started to chase Mack (oh no!) Mack then climbed a gate in order to escape the bull, but he fell and hit his head.
Nate rushed to help, with Mack insisting he was OK. But he was angry and claimed that John left the bull in the barn on purpose as revenge for taking his van.
Viewers will know that earlier this month, John’s van was stolen from the garage and later discovered in the lake.
Later tonight, Aaron confronted John. But in typical soap feud fashion, the two started kissing instead. Aaron’s never been able to resist a Sugden, has he?
Meanwhile, Charity told Mack that they needed to plan their revenge on John. However, Mack wasn’t taking in much of what she was saying and complained about feeling ill.
Mack then collapsed to the floor before being rushed to hospital. We reckon he should just live there at this point!
Mack found himself blocked by a bull (Credit: ITV)
Why is Mack unpopular?
Following his affair with Chloe, fans have been calling to leave the Dales.
Mack treated both Chloe and Charity terribly, but appeared to come out of the situation well – kidnapping aside.
“When is Emmerdale gonna get rid of the worst character ever, Mack?” asked one fan on X, while another commented while seeing the bull in an earlier episode: “There’s the bull that we all wish would finish off Mack.”Â
“Mack just continues to grate,” added another viewer, while a fourth said: “Emmerdale for [bleep] sake just get rid of Mack… He’s already had 4 major storylines where he’s almost died… surely this has got to be it!”
“They need to kill off tedious Mack please,” demanded another fan. But have the fans finally got their wish?
Mack’s survived every time! (Credit: ITV)
Has Mack been killed off?
Mack was originally a likeable character. But more recently, viewers have turned against him – and for good reason.
This is also not the first time he has come close to death. It’s as if death follows him wherever he goes!
In the last year alone, he has been stabbed by Charity and kidnapped and left beaten in a warehouse by Chloe’s father – again, for good reason.
Prior to that, Mack survived when a car he was in with Chloe and Charity was suspended over a cliff edge.
To say the man has nine lives would be an understatement, but could this be the time when Mack is finally killed off? Let’s be honest… probably not, which many have agreed is a load of bull…
“Happy ‘Mack almost gets killed by a bull but doesn’t cos Emmerdale have made an awful character invincible’ week to all those that celebrate,” joked one fan on X.Â
Other agreed, saying they refused to get their hopes up as Mack ‘will probably live.’
It’s almost as if Emmerdale are teasing us, but given the numerous opportunities they’ve had to kill Mack off, why would this time be any different? Then again, there’s only so many near-death experiences one person can have before fate catches up with them, right? RIGHT?
They have short memories over in Emmerdale – namely Dawn, whose judgemental nature has caused fans to ask if she remembers shooting Malone.
In recent Emmerdale scenes, Dawn disowned her dad over his lies about her mum, Rose.
But given her history, is Dawn being harsh on the man who helped her cover up a murder?
Dawn is being harsh on her dad (Credit: ITV)
Who was Malone?
DI Mark Malone was a bent police officer who appeared in Emmerdale in 2020. He was also the boss of a criminal gang, who Will Taylor once worked for.
During his short stay in the village, Malone managed to blackmail Will, Cain and Billy into working for him.
Malone later threatened Billy, saying he had the whole police force in his pocket and could get Billy sent down for years on fake assault charges.
Malone then threatened Will’s daughter Dawn, and tried to convince her to take a fatal overdose of heroin. Fortunately, Harriet came to the rescue and hit Malone over the head with an ornament – an action both ladies thought had killed him.
However, an angry Malone woke up and attempted to attack Dawn and Harriet. Dawn instinctively reached for Malone’s gun and shot him three times, resulting in his death. Harriet suggested burying him in an already occupied grave.
Malone was killed (Credit: ITV)
Will helped Dawn cover up her crime
Initially hiding what she had done from her father, Dawn eventually told her dad the truth when he was questioned about Malone’s disappearance.
Disaster struck later that year when a woman arrived in the village and announced she was the daughter of the man in the graveyard beneath where they had buried Malone – and she wanted to dig him up.
Wanting to protect his daughter, Will took control of the situation and decided they should re-bury Malone in a secluded spot of land at Home Farm.
Kim later revealed to Will that she’d asked a shady contact to dig up the body and destroy it, meaning that Will and Dawn didn’t need to worry about Malone anymore.
Dawn is being harsh on Will
With all that in mind, fans have rightly pointed out how hypocritical Dawn is being in current Emmerdale storylines.
Will and Kim recently paid Dawn’s mum Rose money to leave the village. Dawn discovered this but pleaded ignorance in an attempt to trick her dad into revealing the truth.
However, when he was more worried about protecting Kim than Rose’s potential demise, Dawn told her dad she didn’t want to see him again. Something which has angered viewers.
“Oh Dawn get off your high horse. You killed someone, hid the body and let Kim sort it for you. You sponge off her and live with your whole family in her home. Whiny mare,” one fan said on X.
While another added: “Dawn is such an ungrateful [bleep], dad literally covered up a murder for her and she’s like ‘I hate you!!!’”
“I don’t remember Dawn being so judgemental when her dad and Kim helped her hide the body of the man she murdered,” said a third fan. With a fourth writing: “Dawn is so ungrateful. Kim and Will have helped her get away with murder (literally), provided a stable home for her to prove she is a good mother to social services, Kim accepted her and the kids as family and in her home and all Dawn can do is moan!”
Emmerdale tonight saw a worrying continuation of bad health for Moira as she regained consciousness after her seizure and her son said she smelt terrible (how charming!…)
Elsewhere, Jimmy and Will felt like schoolboys after they received an emergency visit from HMRC (yikes) which scheming Caleb arranged.
From menopause chats to trifles, here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday, August 28).
Moira returned home confused after her seizure (Credit: YouTube)
Emmerdale tonight: Moira’s health updates
Emmerdale tonight started with a lone Moira shivering on the floor of her barn. Despite being an animal lover, this appeared strange to her.
She could not move and reached for a horse blanket to keep away the chill. She looked exhausted despite the full face of makeup.
Later, she entered her home while Isaac ate his toast (there was no milk on the dairy farm for his cereal). Moira explained she was looking over one of their cows when Isaac insulted her scent.
Moira in obvious discomfort took a painkiller while Cain grew uncharacteristically angry (no surprise there).
Moira blamed her struggles on Cain for stressing her out and stormed from the house before he could get another word in.
Cain’s frustration
After (not) cooling off, Cain and Moira engaged in yet another argument. Cain revealed he spoke to Nate, to which Moira exploded. She insisted she was ill, potentially going through the menopause, and wouldn’t change for him.
Back in his stomping ground of the pub, Cain confided in Chas and admitted he blamed Moira for flirting openly. Chas openly defended Moira and told him she’s probably right about the illness.
Ever the voice of reason, Chas told him to calm down and talk to Moira properly.
Later, Moira took another wee kip on the sofa while Isaac looked after her and made his own dinner. He requested to eat out and Moira said she’d consider it when they got home, despite them both being there already.
Isaac laughed at his mum, but Moira looked distressed and worried when reality set in.
Will Isaac and Moira keep their pact and refuse to tell Cain about her so-called dizzy spells?
Will accused Billy of tampering at the Haulage yard (Credit ITV)
Diesel dilemma
As if Will hadn’t suffered enough negativity recently, a HMRC inspector turned up at the Haulage yard in the morning. She informed that she received reports of the highly-illegal red diesel. Will, although worried, was convinced he’s clean…
That conviction quickly turned into a hefty fine which could threaten to harm him and Jimmy. On a war path, Will decided to take his anger out on Billy.
He stopped him in the street and shouted at Billy for talking to him rudely. Tired of his rambles, Billy bit back and told him Dawn’s reaction was entirely his fault – and we loved the drama!
Scrambling for a retort, Will accused Billy of tampering with the diesel at the yard. That was one accusation too far for Billy and he stormed off.
Caleb the crook
The true villain revealed himself in a blue shirt. Caleb was delighted to hear Ruby had directed a HMRC officer to the yard to discover red diesel he himself had planted.
Ruby was equally delighted with her husband as the pair schemed to get the Haulage yard to themselves. She helpfully suggested Caleb should dress as the devil if he signs on Halloween.
The blonde bob must help with gossip, as Ruby happened to overhear Nicola and Jimmy discuss their new hefty fine. Her demands for coffee quickly died and she settled back to hear more about Jimmy and Will’s downfall.
Billy walked in for cake (yum) and Jimmy requested he made up with Will. Safe to say Billy refused and suggested Will was not the man they thought they knew.
Jimmy decided to go to the pub and Ruby was quick to share this with Caleb, who just so happened to be there when Jimmy walked in.

Dinner chats
Nothing appears to please Jimmy more than a steak and kidney pie with a pint, but tonight he loved the company of Caleb. Jimmy asked Caleb how he looked so wrinkle-free, to which Caleb was keen to share.
A few pints down and a trifle later, Caleb made more strategic chess moves to get information from Jimmy. Growing more frustrated at his partner Will, Jimmy jokingly offered Caleb half the business.
Caleb surprisingly refused and joked it was due to Jimmy’s complaints on Will. Jimmy joked he regretted making the comments.
He then told Nicola he was only half joking and would consider the sale.
Not yet, Caleb
Back at their flat, Ruby was shocked to hear Caleb didn’t jump at the fact he could buy the business. But Caleb revealed he wants to wear Will down before he takes it over.
The scheming couple laughed and decided to wait their plan out until they were certain they could get their own way.
Surprisingly, Caleb showed emotion and suggested he felt guilty about playing Jimmy. He is, after all, a good person…
