Emmerdale: Piper’s alive – but fans aren’t impressed with soap’s ‘cruel’ decision: ‘Should be ashamed of yourselves’

Fans of Emmerdale were left stunned last night (Wednesday, August 21), as the soap did a huge U-turn on Piper the Dog’s death.

Viewers were all grieving along with Belle as they watched the heartbroken pet owner bury her pup’s casket (so many tissues were used!)

But… her pup was actually still alive! But, despite being relieved for Piper, fans have still found something to complain about.

    Emmerdale: Piper the Dog’s alive!

Last week, Emmerdale crushed all of our hearts as evil Tom decided to run Belle’s adorable pooch Piper over with his car.

He then told Belle that he’d spent ALL night trying to save her, but it was best for her to be put down.

Belle said one last goodbye to Piper but soon put two and two together… She realised that Tom had been responsible for Piper’s tragedy (go Belle!)

Later on, she cried her eyes out as she lowered Piper’s casket into the ground.

Little did she know though that Piper was actually still alive! Tom had cruelly made out that Piper was dead just to upset Belle (ABSOLUTELY EVIL!)

And, then, last night, he handed Piper over to her new owners whilst making out that Piper’s previous owner was a horrible piece of work (if only they knew the truth…)

Piper “death” decision leaves fans furious

With Piper alive, you’d be forgiven for thinking that viewers would have been over the moon… And, whilst they were happy to see Belle’s furry friend alive and kicking, the decision actually caused many complaints.

Fans can’t believe that the soap has us all grieve for Piper for a number of days before giving us a huge retcon and revealing that Piper was still breathing. How cruel to play with everyone’s emotions like that! It’s not on!

One fan complained: “You should be ashamed of yourselves for making viewers think Piper was dead. Doesn’t excuse the scenes that aired last week. Can be very triggering for people.”

Another person added: “Hold it, hold it, hold it! Are you seriously telling me Piper isn’t dead and we’ve been through this charade since last Friday for nothing?!”

A third viewer blasted: “Hope your writers are not doing the “ha ha we got you all dance” because A) Tom is still depicted as hurting Piper with injections & she’s wearing a cone B) You’ve lost viewers & NTA votes C) You’ve alienated people against a serious storyline. This is still not your finest hour!”

  • Emmerdale hasn’t included Chas in Tom’s abuse storyline – and fans can’t believe the soap hasn’t addressed it

Emmerdale hasn’t included Chas in Tom’s abuse storyline – and fans can’t believe the soap hasn’t addressed it

Over in Emmerdale, viewers will know that Belle has just started to realise the extent of which her husband Tom has been abusing her.

After little Piper’s death, Belle decided to go to the police to speak to them about the abuse she’s been receiving.

But, one thing has been neglected throughout this storyline and it involves Chas Dingle – and fans have complained that it makes no sense at all!

Emmerdale: Belle goes to the police about Tom

This week, Belle was left heartbroken (and so was the rest of the nation) after finding out that her beloved pet dog – Piper – had sadly passed away after being knocked over by a car.

It wasn’t long before she started accusing Tom of killing the pup, sharing her concerns with Lydia. However, Belle’s loved ones didn’t believe that he would do something like that.

Realising that Tom had been abusing her, Belle decided to take action and go to the police about her abusive husband.

She explained how he’d been treating her, bringing up Claire’s Law. She, however, didn’t want to officially report Tom…

Tom’s past with Chas seems to have been forgotten…

So, let’s get this right… when Charity had concerns about Tom’s behaviour, none of the Dingles sided with her.

And, when Belle voiced her upset of Tom, the Dingles were quick to blame everything on Belle’s mental illness. At not one point has Chas remembered that Tom actually stalked her and made her life hell in the past.

Now, fans aren’t impressed with the oversight, noting that Chas would’ve been the first person they’d expect to support Belle and believe that something’s up with Tom’s behaviour.

One fan wrote: “This story has such flaws. If Charity is concerned, how come she hasn’t discussed it with Chas who had abuse from Tom’s dad, Carl? They haven’t involved Chas in any of the storyline yet she knows how twisted the men are more than anyone. Also, with a brother like Cain, why is Belle not turning to him for protection?”

Another person added: “Charity did say she’d be keeping a close eye on Tom. But I think it should be Chas as she’s had experience dealing with Tom before.”

A third viewer previously wondered: “The Dingles are thick as [bleep]. Have they forgotten all the [bleep] Tom put Chas through?”

  • Emmerdale: Mack’s used up all of his nine lives – here’s why he MUST die in next week’s bull chase

Emmerdale: Mack’s used up all of his nine lives – here’s why he MUST die in next week’s bull chase

Stunts and life-threatening events happen quite often in Soap Land and Emmerdale village is all too familiar with this.

One villager in particular – Mack Boyd – has had a fair few near-death experiences of his own (and some have been his own doing!)

With Mack being injured by a bull next week, here’s why we think Mack must be killed off!

Emmerdale's Chloe, Charity and Mack are in a car
Mack survived every time! (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale: Mack – Superman or a super fool?

When he first entered the Dales, Mack was rather liked by fans as Moira’s cheeky brother, but this feeling was short-lived as he got himself involved with Chloe Harris.

There was a moment when it looked as though Charity and Mack were soulmates, but after Mack’s fling with Chloe and huge baby daddy bombshell… well, let’s just say, he’s never been redeemed since, despite Charity rekindling their romance.

Over the course of his time in the village, Mack’s found himself in quite an unfortunate number of near-death scenarios… but we’re struggling to feel sorry for him.

You see, Mack has a habit of putting himself in sticky situations that could very well cost him his life. He never seems to learn from his mistakes though…

Last year, Mack found himself in a car accident with Charity and Chloe which only occurred as a result of his cheating. He then acted as a hero and saved Charity from the wreckage whilst Chloe ended up falling off a cliff (and somehow surviving!)

Then there was the time after this when he was held hostage by Chloe’s dad, Harry… (again, totally avoidable if Mack had kept it in his pants!) He somehow managed to get away though despite being threatened with a gun!

And, let’s not forget the time Charity stabbed him in the middle of the night after mistaking him for Harry. An incident he survived yet again… Is this guy immortal or something?

After all of this… could a bull kill Boyd?

Mack loves to stare death right in the face, doesn’t he? It’s like he lives for the thrill.

Next week, after making an enemy out of John (his own doing, surprise, surprise!), Mack is chased by a bull, before being injured in the barn.

Believing that John is behind the incident, Mack soon collapses after feeling rather woozy. Charity then fears that Mack’s injuries are more serious than first thought!

There’s only so many times someone can have a near-death experience and survive… If Mack survives this one, then he really must be invincible because there’s no chance that somebody would make it through everything Mack has done in real life. NO CHANCE! But, would killing Mack off be such a bad thing?

Aaron, Mack and John all look strained in Emmerdale spoilers (Credit: ITV)
    Mack’s rather insufferable (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale: Has Mack had his day?

Mack and Charity don’t have chemistry (there’s no shying away from this one!) They’ve never been able to restore the bond they had pre-Chloe, and it’s becoming quite hard to watch the pair together.

The problem is, Mack hasn’t been redeemed for his cheating and lies (and it’s unlikely that he ever will or CAN be!) Fans have branded Mack as ‘insufferable’ for his constant narcissistic and childish behaviour (grow up mate, driving John’s van into the lake was a bit immature…) And, can we really blame them? How many more times can Mack escape death?

There would be something quite satisfying if after everything he’s been through, a bull is the thing that brings him down!

  • Emmerdale tonight: Poor Piper’s dead and Sarah’s still not had a ‘proper’ Dingle experience

Emmerdale tonight: Poor Piper’s dead and Sarah’s still not had a ‘proper’ Dingle experience

Emmerdale tonight saw the aftermath of Piper’s road ‘accident’ take place. Emmerdale really decided to break all of our hearts and kill off the little pup. We’re never going to forgive them for this one!

Elsewhere, Sarah was excited to break the law as Charity took her joyriding. However, she soon realised that she’d never committed any sort of crime after all.

Here’s a recap of everything that happened in Emmerdale on Monday August, 19th.

One of the most heartbreaking soap deaths ever – RIP Piper

After purposely running Piper over with Belle’s retro Mini, Tom tried to act like a hero tonight. He relished in telling Belle and Lydia that he’d spent all night trying to save the little pup’s life.

However, he then confessed that it would be the kindest thing for Piper to be put down due to the extent of her injuries (sob!) We were hoping for some miracle by this point. Surely Emmerdale wouldn’t be so cruel as to kill off our favourite soap pet like… ever?!

We were wrong though, as Belle entered the consultation room at the vets and said one last goodbye to her forever friend. With Belle unable to watch Piper take her last breath, Tom was the one to stay with Piper at the very end.

Tom then told Belle that Piper had passed away. Off he then went to take the rest of the day off to process her passing (let’s hope the image of Piper’s adorable little face haunts him until the day he dies!)

By the end of the ep, Belle gave Tom a piece of her mind after accusing him of killing Piper. She told him that he made her ‘skin crawl’ (we can only agree Belle!) He then told her that she’d regret saying that she doesn’t love him anymore…

Is it possible for Tom to stoop any lower? We’ve already been traumatised enough by Piper’s death, we can’t take anything else!

Sarah’s yet to break the law

Sarah’s been feeling down lately. She’s complained about missing out on doing all of the things others her age do. She especially felt upset when she’d had a few alcoholic drinks at Mandy and Paddy’s wedding, only to be told off by Charity for drinking whilst on medication.

Hoping to give Sarah a ‘proper’ Dingle experience, Charity surprised her by taking her out joyriding in a fancy car tonight. Sarah was thrilled to be taking the wheels for a spin. She felt like a right little rebel.

Once they returned back to the village, Sarah’s inner criminal continued to make an appearance. She suggested torching the car so that they wouldn’t be caught for the theft (Sarah really went from 0 to 100 super fast, right?)

There was one slight problem with this though… the car wasn’t actually stolen. Yes, Sarah found out that she was still on the right side of the law when Vinny put his foot in it and revealed the car to be borrowed off his mate. Awks! We’ve never seen someone so upset about not breaking the law before…

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Jai and Laurel were still bickering like teenagers, unable to remain civil with each other whilst at work in The Hide (anyone else fed up of their same repetitive arguments yet?) Jai then dropped the bombshell that he was selling his shares of The Hide to the highest bidder! We could practically see the cogs whirring in Laurel and Gabby’s minds after this one as Laurel offered to buy Jai’s shares.

Gabby seemed to be doing hardly any work tonight (no change there) as she flirted with one of the customers at The Hide… in front of Vinny. Vinny’s jealousy was obvious as he quizzed Gabby on ‘Handsome Chris.’ Chill Vinny, this whole thing with Gabby’s only meant to be a bit of ‘fun,’ right?
