Amy’s death was the wrong move and has destroyed yet another LGBTQ+ couple – OPINION

Emmerdale shocked us all tonight (Thursday, February 20), as the soap killed another character off, airing Amy Barton’s death.

Amy had started to flatline yesterday but was saved (temporarily), managing to get a few important words out to Matty before passing away.

And, we’re devastated that Amy’s now gone, with this bringing yet another LGBTQ+ soap couple to an end.

    Emmerdale: Amy Barton’s death

When the limo crashed into the frozen lake, Amy followed the path of some of her fellow passengers in a bid to get back onto steady ground.

But sadly, she fell into the ice and was submerged under the water. One of the last things she saw was a dead body under the water – that of Nate Robinson’s.

Being pulled out of the water by Tracy, Amy was rushed to hospital with hypothermia. Then, she started to have a seizure and flatline.

Fortunately, the doctors were able to save Amy just long enough for her to get out the words ‘Nate… in the water.’ But, Matty was too caught up in Amy’s life being on the line to understand what Amy was trying to say.

Then, heartbreakingly, Amy lost her life after reminding Matty that she loved him. Sob.

Opinion: Killing Amy off was a bad move

Amy arrived in the Dales in 2010 and has a very rich history behind her. She’s connected to so many characters and intertwined in so many different families. It’s only now that we realise that she really was the ‘glue’ of the village.

And, now Amy’s gone, the whole village will be impacted in an extremely tragic way. Not only will Matty and the Bartons be heartbroken, we’ve got Kerry who will be in tears, and also Pollard who was once Amy’s foster parent.

Whilst this could make way for many different interesting storylines as a consequence of the grief villagers will face, we’re disappointed that another young woman with so much potential has had her life robbed of her. First Suzy, then Leyla, now Amy…

It was only recently that Amy and Matty talked about wanting to adopt a child. Matty had his concerns, fearing how being a trans parent may affect his child. But, he then came round to the idea.

Now, Amy’s hopes and dreams of expanding her family have been crushed, along with the hope of the soap telling an important storyline which would have been so meaningful for the LGBTQ+ community. And, let’s also note how Amy and Matty only got married in April last year…

Emmerdale's Amy and Matty on their wedding day
They hadn’t even been married a year (Credit: ITV)

Another LGBTQ+ couple bites the dust

We haven’t been given the chance to watch their marriage play out properly, what with Matty spending time in prison shortly after they got hitched. It’s only more recently this year that we’ve started to see what married life looks like for Amy and Matty and how they’ve been there for each other through thick and thin. They deserved more of a chance than they had.

This all adds up to a worrying pattern in soap, with shows having a habit of destroying or killing off LGBTQ+ couples.

In one week alone, we’ve said goodbye to Suzy and Amy. This brought to an end two LGBTQ+ romances in Emmerdale village and along with it much-needed representation on screen. It would be nice to see an LGBTQ+ couple go the distance in Emmerdale – and whilst we got close with Robron and Vanity – we didn’t get close enough. And, we have our doubts about Aaron and John…

Now that’s all been said, perhaps Amy could… come back from the dead? Please?

Roxy Shahidi confesses she did not want to leave Emmerdale as devastated fans sob Leyla ‘deserved better’

Leyla Harding passed away in last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Wednesday, February 19), and fans aren’t okay about her death.

The much-loved character passed away in an ambulance (all alone) on the way to the hospital following the limo crash.

And, fans aren’t happy with the soap’s decision to kill Leyla off (and we’re not impressed either!) Now, Roxy Shahidi has addressed her exit in a new interview.

Leyla was slipping in and out of consciousness with a serious injury (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale: Leyla Harding’s death

Leyla thought that the girls’ night out in the limo was going to be the perfect chance to kill her loneliness. But, it ended up killing her instead.

The poor wedding planner ended up being a passenger in a limo crash, as Charity swerved Noah in the road and ended up crashing the vehicle into a frozen lake.

Leyla did her best to hide her injury from everyone else. But, Kerry realised something was up when Leyla failed to move. Kerry then dragged her on the ice and to ‘safety’ but Leyla’s stomach was badly injured and impaled by some glass…

Losing blood, Leyla died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Jacob found the news out on shift in A&E. Running into a morgue (without permission – okay), Jacob then saw his dead mum lying perfectly still.

He then tried to give her CPR but, of course, his efforts were in vain because Leyla was well and truly dead. Heartbreaking.

Fans devastated over Leyla’s death as she ‘deserved better’

With Leyla being killed off after almost 17 years on the soap, fans have been left devastated over her exit.

They think that she deserved better than to die in the limo crash, being such a huge part of the show over the years. And, we can see why they’re upset. We didn’t even get to see her die on screen… and for such a huge character, we reckon she should’ve at least been given a death in the Thursday hour-long episode where all the big events usually happen.

And to have her so lonely and having to witness her ex-husband propose to another woman just moments before her death was just cruel!

One fan complained: “RIP Leyla Harding you deserved so much better than the utter [bleep] exit you got x”

Another person shared: “Killing off Leyla is the worst thing these [bleep] could have done! Why not send her to Portugal to live with her sister? She deserved better.”

A third fan commented: “OMG…….. Emmerdale has got me tearing up! The way they killed Leyla off, and her storyline beforehand? Ohhhh they did her character so dirty! Poor Jacob.”

Roxy Shahidi opens up on Leyla death

Actress Roxy Shahidi has now spoken out on her Emmerdale exit on today’s episode of Loose Women (Thursday, February 20).

She has revealed that the decision to kill off Leyla came as a ‘shock’ but she’s now embraced the opportunity.

“I genuinely am so excited about a new chapter. That’s what life’s about, isn’t it? You’ve got to do new things, you’ve got to challenge yourself. And, sometimes, when you’re forced to do that, it’s the best thing that can happen otherwise you’ll just stay within your comfort zone.”

She then revealed that she was ‘heartbroken’ over leaving her ‘second family’ at Emmerdale behind.

“To have been in a show like that for 16 years is such a blessing, it’s something you can’t take for granted. We’re always aware each year, most of us are on yearly contracts so you never know.

“To have done 16 years, I am so grateful, but when I got that call because I kind of knew something was happening… it was a shock.

“When it’s such an epic story, you know it’s going to happen and I think your job is just to process that, do the best you can, and just keep going.”

  • Emmerdale killing off Leyla was a huge mistake – OPINION

Emmerdale killing off Leyla was a huge mistake – OPINION

Emmerdale had us all sobbing tonight (Wednesday, February 19), as the soap confirmed Leyla Harding’s death. And, it’s a huge mistake.

Reports were released a few months ago that suggested that Roxy Shahidi would be leaving her role as Leyla. But, we’ve been in denial ever since hearing the news.

And, now the sad moment has finally arrived… We’re not sure we’re ever going to recover from seeing Leyla lying in that morgue. It’s a scene that we believe should never have happened…

Emmerdale's dead Leyla lying in a morgue

    Emmerdale: Leyla Harding’s tragic death

Leyla was feeling really lonely in her final days and joined the girls of the Dales for a night out. She might’ve not got them to take her up on her lunch offer, but she sure wasn’t going to miss out on the chance to party.

In the limo, one of the last things that Leyla saw was her ex-husband Liam proposing to another woman – Chas, and almost sitting on her lap whilst doing so. Brutal. And, then if that situation alone wasn’t enough to finish her off, crash! Charity swerved the limo and crashed it into a huge, frozen lake.

Leyla’s business partner Suzy died instantly, with the rest of the passengers taking it in turns one by one to cross the ice.

Eventually, only Kerry and Leyla remained left in the sinking limo but Leyla was in a bad way after being impaled in the stomach from some glass. (At least she didn’t die with an empty stomach.)

Kerry was desperate to not leave Leyla alone though (if only everyone else had been so kind in the lead-up to the crash), and dragged her across the ice despite her most likely broken leg.

Four ambulances then arrived and took Leyla, Liam, Amy and Noah off. But, someone had died inside one of them on the way to the hospital.

And tonight, Jacob realised that this person was Leyla as he burst into the morgue whilst on shift in A&E and saw his mum lying dead.

    Leyla looks shocked in Emmerdale
Leyla should’ve been immortal… (Credit: ITV)

Opinion: Leyla being killed off is a HUGE mistake

Leyla Harding first arrived in the Dales in 2008 and became a huge fan-favourite very quickly.

Leaving in 2011, Leyla then returned in 2013 and made a huge entrance as Alicia’s jaw dropped finding out that her sister was now a pole dancer (a moment we still remember well.)

Then, a huge storyline saw it be revealed that Leyla was actually Jacob’s mum and not Alicia… Despite this huge bombshell, we loved the dynamic of David, Leyla, Alicia and Jacob as a family. But, now all we have are these fond memories, with only Jacob Gallagher remaining from this group.

Leyla’s always been, as Jacob says, the ‘life and soul’ of the party and of the village too. In the 17 years of Leyla, she’s brought us fun, love, laughter, tears and drama.

Whilst she’s been a little quiet recently, she’s always close to our hearts (and we’re definitely always jealous of her impeccable bright and colourful wardrobe – she knows how to own a power suit does our Leyla!)

Having that ‘life and soul’ die in such a tragic and upsetting way leaves us heartbroken. Someone so young, with so much life left to life being robbed of it within a few short hours. It’s almost… unforgivable. And, we think this is a huge mistake!

    Leyla in Emmerdale
Leyla was determined to get in the limo (Credit: ITV)

An exit storyline that broke our hearts

Leyla was ‘getting in that limo if it killed her’ and she wasn’t lying (sadly.) And now, her business Take A Vow is truly dead in the water (excuse the pun), with only Belle remaining to keep things afloat.

But, we can’t help but be emotional over the permanent end to Leyla’s character with no hope of a return further down the line. Leyla’s loneliness storyline seemed slightly out of character and we’re devastated she died with nobody by her side in that ambulance.

We would’ve loved to imagine her exiting the village and living it up with Alicia in the sun. But, instead the curse of young soap women meeting their maker strikes again… All chances of a hopeful future robbed.

There’s going to be a huge Leyla shaped hole in the village now. And, now we’re just hoping that she gets the big send-off she deserves.

But, with the chances of a David, Priya and Alicia return being rather slim, we fear she may become Harriet Finch 2.0 in that sense.

  • Is the hand in the water Nate? All the ‘clues’ Amy just found Tracy’s ex

Is the hand in the water Nate? All the ‘clues’ Amy just found Tracy’s ex

In Emmerdale tonight (Monday, February 17), Amy fell through the ice. She then saw someone’s hand in the water – could it be Nate Robinson’s?

Amy’s life flashed before her eyes tonight and if her falling through a frozen lake and fighting for her life wasn’t enough to scare her – seeing the hand of someone in the water would’ve been.

But, we’ve now spotted some worrying ‘clues’ that this hand could belong to former villager, Nate Robinson.

    Emmerdale hand in water
Whose hand is it? (Credit: ITV)

Amy spotted hand in frozen lake

Tonight, the girls fought to save their lives as their limo started to sink into a frozen lake.

Sadly, in the aftermath of the crash, Suzy lost her life and could not be saved. The rest of the girls (and Liam) then tried one by one to steadily cross the ice.

Liam tested the waters (well, ice) after Charity made it, with Chas almost falling through but crawling to her safety.

Vanessa and Tracy also made it across, with Amy then choosing to go next. However, the ice gave in and broke under her feet.

She then fell through the ice and started to sink in the water, attempting to push her way out of the ice above.

But, in a huge (and extremely jaw-dropping) twist, Amy was not alone under that water, oh no… She was actually in the company of someone else, screaming a muffled sound as her eyes gazed at a hand in the water.

And, it was wearing a friendship bracelet…

    Nate's last scene Emmerdale

All the ‘clues’ Nate Robinson’s hand is in water

Well, well, well, we’ve got a worrying theory that Nate Robinson could be the owner of the hand in the water.

Remember when Nate left the Dales for Shetland in September last year? It was all a bit suss, with many fans believing him to be dead. But, after many months went by, he kind of got… well, forgotten about.

Nate was last seen by John Sugden before leaving for a new job in Shetland without saying a proper goodbye to his family. Which brings us to our first clue… we now know that John is rather good at covering up a death or murder… He didn’t even blink an eye when helping Aaron clean up Anthony’s death at the Depot… It almost seemed like he’d done it before.

Could John, the last to have seen Nate, have finished him off?

Then there are those rather confusing text messages left by Nate after he left, specifically: ‘Settling in, head’s a mess, don’t call me, I’ll call you when I’m ready.’ He didn’t really want to stay in touch with Tracy, the rest of his family, or even his own daughter Frankie. Someone he literally went for full custody of, now cutting her out of his life just like that… Suss, suss, suss.

But, the most obvious clue of all is that Nate was wearing a friendship bracelet on the day he left the village. And we all know his daughter Frankie loves to make friendship bracelets, with the soap putting a really obvious emphasis on these bracelets in recent weeks.

And it actually makes sense now that the hand under the water was wearing a bracelet that looked exactly like Nate’s. But, is he dead under that water? Did he never actually make it to Shetland? If so, who finished him off? John?

  • Who lives? Who dies? What happened to Noah? All the questions we still have after tonight’s episode

Who lives? Who dies? What happened to Noah? All the questions we still have after tonight’s episode

In Emmerdale tonight (Monday, February 17), Suzy died during the girls’ limo crash on the ice – but who dies next?

Lives are on the line as Amy finds herself trapped in the water after falling through the ice – and she’s not alone.

But, will anyone join Suzy in the afterlife as the ice continues to be a danger to those who are yet to make it to steady ground? Here are all the questions we have!

    1. Why was Noah in the road?

Charity swerved the limo and crashed because she saw an out of sorts Noah stumbling in the road at night.

He didn’t look in a good state, and we know later this week after Charity finds him, that he’s in hospital for suspected spiking.

But, who spiked Noah? And why was he all alone and walking into oncoming traffic?

Emmerdale who dies?: 2. Will Amy survive?

Amy wasn’t as lucky as Charity, Liam, Vanessa, Chas and Tracy. Instead, she followed the same path as they had done but ended up falling through the ice.

She then tried to get out, pushing her hand against the ice above her as she struggled in the water.

We know that spoilers reveal that someone tries to pull someone out of the ice, but can Amy be saved? And, who could risk their lives to save her?

Amy, Kerry, Vanessa and Suzy dressed up for a night out in the limo
Will Kerry and Leyla get out? (Credit: ITV)

    3. Will Kerry and Leyla die?

We know that Roxy Shahidi is reportedly leaving the soap and that Leyla has been hiding the fact that she’s bleeding out from the other girls.

Remaining put in the limo, could Leyla die from her injuries?

And we know the limo is sinking rather quickly, but will Kerry (who is also one of the last left inside) go down with it?

    4. Are all the boys out of the woods?

Liam travelled with the girls instead of the boys but has a serious bleed to the head as well as severe vomiting. But, will he lose his life?

And then there are the other lads in the more fortunate limo… Whilst they look to be safe, tensions are high between Cain and Caleb

But, could a fight break out? Could Caleb’s hospital flash-foward be the cause of this?

    Emmerdale hand in water

    5. Whose is the corpse hand?

Under the water, Amy (and all of us viewers) got a right fright when she saw a corpse hand.

It was wearing a distinctive friendship bracelet… But, whose hand is it? And, what happened to the person to lead them to such a tragic end? So. Many. Questions.

Recognise the detective who arrested Cain in Emmerdale tonight? Isobel Middleton has been in EastEnders and has a famous soap star wife

In Emmerdale tonight (Thursday, February 12), a detective arrested Cain Dingle – and this detective was played by actress Isobel Middleton.

Cain was arrested by DI Roberts on suspicion of knowing something about Anthony Fox’s disappearance.

But, who is actress Isobel Middleton? And, who is her famous soap star wife?

    Who is Isobel Middleton?

Isobel Middleton is an English actress, writer and producer with a huge number of shows under her belt.

She’s definitely no stranger to soap, appearing as DI Roberts in Emmerdale tonight.

Isobel Middleton as Detective on Emmerdale

Isobel Middleton actually first starred in Emmerdale back in 2014 as character Dr Lane, a doctor who treated Andy Sugden.

She again appeared as a Prosecution Barrister later on in 2018, before returning once more to play the character of Jean Rawson in 2020.

Tonight, she returns five years later as new character DI Roberts.

The Detective arrested Cain Dingle as the police continued the investigation as to what happened to Anthony Fox.

With Steph fearing that her grandad is missing (as always), Cain was questioned over the scrapping of Anthony’s car and his late night work at the garage.

DI Roberts and her team then searched the garage but failed to find any evidence, letting Cain go. However, she made it clear that she’d most likely need to speak to Cain again and the police would be asking more questions until Mr. Fox turned up (which we know he isn’t going to…)

    Isobel Middleton in EastEnders

Isobel has also appeared in rival soap, EastEnders, in 2002. She starred in 16 episodes of the soap as character, Sadie Banks.

Sadie was the ex-wife of Tom Banks and mother of Charlotte Davies, appearing from August – September of that year.

During her short stint in the Square, Sadie was responsible for holding Sharon Watts hostage after Sharon got into a relationship with Tom. She threatened her, hoping her plan would work to win her husband back.

She tried to use her daughter to get her back in touch with Tom, then trying to make Sharon think that she was having an affair with her man. But, Sharon saw through this.

In the end, after attempting to take her own life, Sharon and Tom encouraged Sadie to get some psychiatric help.

What else has Isobel Middleton been in?

Other soaps Isobel has starred in include Doctors, Coronation Street, Hobby City, Casualty and more notably, the radio soap The Archers.

On the show, Isobel appeared in 42 episodes as Anna Tregorran.

She’s also appeared in Mr Bates vs the Post Office as Kay.

Isobel Middleton Coronation Street star wife

Away from screen, Isobel has been married to her famous Coronation Street star wife Jane Hazlegrove since 2015.

Soap fans may know Jane best for playing the character Bernie Winter. The couple have actually been in a relationship for around 30 years and their love is still going strong.

They like to keep their relationship private although Jane occasionally shares photos of Isobel on her Instagram page.

Has Emmerdale given us a huge ‘clue’ that Tracy will die in limo crash? New theory suggests so

Emmerdale might’ve just foreshadowed Tracy Robinson’s death in the upcoming limo crash as we spot a huge ‘clue.’ And, we hope we’re wrong.

But, knowing that Tracy is a passenger in the girls’ limo, it’s sparked a new theory for us that she could lose her life in the crash…

    Upcoming Emmerdale limo crash stunt

At the end of this week, the villagers will enter one of two limos – one for the boys and one for the girls.

Tracy will head into the girls’ limo with Kerry and her other friends for a fun, night out. But, as driver Charity swerves the vehicle to avoid Noah in the road, the girls crash.

Meanwhile, the boys don’t have much luck either as Caleb’s anger of Cain and Ruby’s fling causes their limo to crash in a separate accident.

One of these limos goes straight through an icy lake although it’s unclear whether this is the boys’ or girls’ car.

One thing has been confirmed though, not everyone will survive these crashes. Eek!

    Who will die? (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale theory: Tracy to die in limo crash?

Recently in Emmerdale, Amy helped Moira look after little Frankie whilst Tracy went to work at the shop.

She later suggested to Matty that they adopt a child, as looking after Frankie had made her realise how much she’d like to expand their family.

Matty wasn’t so sure at first (it was suddenly sprung upon him to be fair), but then agreed to look into the adoption process.

But now, with Amy, Tracy and Matty in the limos when they crash, we’ve come up with a worrying theory.

We reckon that Amy looking after Frankie recently might be hinting at Tracy’s death… Then, with nobody being able to get in touch with Nate (we still don’t really know whether he’s dead or alive), Amy and Matty will survive the accident and adopt Frankie.

We’re hoping we’re wrong, we really are, but have these scenes ‘sealed’ Tracy’s tragic end?

The next couple of weeks in Emmerdale look to be very dramatic and now Amy Walsh has confirmed just this as she teases ice stunt chaos.

With two limousines crashing in separate incidents, the drama will just keep on coming.

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh teases ‘lots of blood’ in ice stunt

With Amy Walsh’s character Tracy Robinson being a passenger in the girls’ limo, she’s now teased what we can expect from the big stunt.

And, Emmerdale doesn’t look to be doing things by halves. They’re going all out with a double stunt.

The actress hinted: “There are a lot of tears, a lot of ice and a lot of blood and all the rest of it. So, it’s definitely worth tuning in for. I don’t think it will feel like your average soap watch with your tea in front of the telly thing.”

She then ended: “I think it’s a matter of getting the kids to bed and getting it on. I think it will be a white-knuckle ride.”

But, what exactly happens and who will suffer injuries that will prove to be fatal?

Everything to expect from limousine crash week

So, what do we know so far about the big stunt? Well, obviously some big secrets are being kept back to keep certain exits and twists a surprise, but we do know who is in danger.

There will be two limousines – Caleb drives the one, with Mack, Sam, Bear, Matty, Liam, Cain and Paddy as passengers.

The other vehicle will be driven by Charity, with the passengers being Amy, Tracy, Vanessa, Suzy, Chas, Leyla, Kerry and Mandy.

With both limos suffering separate accidents, one will end up falling into a frozen lake…

Multiple lives will be lost in limousine lake crash scenes, Emmerdale director confirms

Emmerdale director Vicky Thomas has confirmed that more than one life will be lost in the upcoming limousine lake crash.

This week and next week, two limousines will suffer a crash but one crash looks set to be a little more deadly than the other as the vehicle sinks into a frozen lake.

And, in what will be a huge stunt for the soap, not everyone will survive the ordeal… Proper edge of your seat stuff, this is!

Emmerdale: Limousine lake crash rocks the Dales

Next week’s Emmerdale spoilers reveal a huge and very dramatic stunt will take place in the village as two limousines crash.

One limousine has a group of male villagers inside, crashing as Caleb’s anger over his brother Cain’s fling with wife Ruby gets in between him and his control of the steering wheel.

In the other limo, Charity drives a group of female villagers on a night out – but, she soon swerves and crashes the vehicle.

One of the limousines ends up sinking into a frozen lake full of dangerous ice as the injured party attempts to save themselves and their friends. It’s unclear whether the boys or the girls are inside this limo…

But, no matter who is inside which limo, it’s clear that there’s going to be lots of blood and lots of injuries… and a couple of deaths thrown in too.

Soap director Vicky Thomas confirms multiple limo crash deaths

With many villagers facing huge danger, Emmerdale director Vicky Thomas has now confirmed that not everyone will survive.

Yes, finally a huge soap stunt where characters actually die… Scary.

It sounds to be edge-of-your-seat stuff, but which characters’ time in the village will come to an abrupt end?

Vicky teased: “I think the things that happen in these episodes are totally different to what the characters have gone through before. It was a nice change. Obviously we still have the punch-ups and all the rest of it, but in these episodes there’s a lot of bravery and people saving other people – it is very heartfelt stuff, very high emotions.

“I think the audience will see the characters in ways that they have never seen before. And the repercussions of what happens over this night will go on for a very long time. And I think some things will even change forever from them. As there are some who do not make it because of what happens to them.”

Matthew Wolfenden hints at future Emmerdale return as David Metcalfe two years after exit

Actor Matthew Wolfenden has teased a potential David Metcalfe return to Emmerdale, revealing that he’s open to reprising the role.

The star left the soap near the end of 2023, with David burning bridges with his son Jacob over his (really icky) romance with Victoria.

But, after finishing his 2023 stint in Elf the Musical, Matthew’s now revealed that he’s not against coming back to the show.

Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden teases future David Metcalfe return

Leaving the show in November 2023, Matthew took on the role of Buddy the Elf in Elf the Musical for an eight week stint.

But, now that he’s finished this role, he’s considering coming back to the Emmerdale village at some point in the future.

Speaking to The Sun, Matthew opened up on his decision to leave the soap after 17 years. He admitted that there was a ‘rule’ that the soap doesn’t let its stars have a break from the show for panto or other productions.

He then made the decision to quit Emmerdale after 17 years to take on the role of Buddy.

But, now, he’s reminisced about his time on the show and has hinted at a potential return in the future.

Noting that the door was left open for the character, Matthew said: “Luckily, John Whiston, the big boss at Emmerdale, wrote me a lovely email saying ‘Look, we’re not going to kill you off that is not me saying you can come back’ obviously they can’t say that, but the door will be left open for the character of David, which was very nice.

“It does give you that option, you never know, I might go knocking on the door and say ‘Can I come back please’ it’s such a great place to work.

“It’s on my doorstep and it’s a great place to work and the people are fantastic.”

    Emmerdale's David serious
Could he make amends with Jacob? (Credit: ITV)

How could David return to the village?

When he left, David was definitely not on the best of terms with his son.

He was in a relationship with David’s former partner after all!

But, with Leyla’s upcoming exit being reported, Jacob will soon be without a parental figure in the village. So, could David make amends with his son and return to be with him again?

We also know that Pollard’s got himself into some financial difficulty recently. Could David return to support his dad through this?
