Amy Walsh is best known for playing Tracy Robinson in ITV’s Emmerdale. She joined the soap in July 2014. Since then she has remained on the show, only taking a break for maternity leave.
Amy has had some huge storylines over the years during her time in Emmerdale. From starting off as someone who worked in an online chat room, she has gone on to have multiple marriages and found long lost sister, Vanessa, in the village.
And it’s no surprise Amy was able to do brilliantly at the storylines given to her – as it seems talent runs in her family.
But who is the actress behind the character? Well Amy Walsh is a former Celebrity Masterchef contestant, sister of a huge singer and even has a daughter with another famous soap star.

Who is Amy Walsh?
Amy Victoria Walsh is a British actress, best known for playing Tracy Robinson in Emmerdale. The 37-year-old actress joined the soap when she was 26 years old.
She has previously admitted that she actually auditioned for the role of Rachel Breckle, before getting Tracy. But that character ultimately went to Gemma Oaten.
Before Amy joined Emmerdale, she was in the fourth series of Hollyoaks Later, the Channel 4 Hollyoaks spin-off.
Amy’s famous siblings
Amy is the youngest of four children, born to John and Diane Walsh. And it seems she’s not the only one who is in the spotlight.
One of her sisters, Kimberly Walsh, is a member of a huge pop girl group, Girls Aloud. The band recently embarked on a reunion tour, which Amy publicly supported and attended.
But Kimberly isn’t the only famous sibling of Amy’s. Her other sister, Sally Walsh actually featured in Emmerdale way before Amy. From the year 1997 until 2000, Sally played the character Lyn Hutchinson.
The famous sisters were raised in Allerton in Bradford, alongside their brother, Adam.
Amy and Toby-Alexander have been in a relationship since 2020 (Credit: ITV)
Is Amy in a relationship?
Amy went public with her EastEnders star boyfriend Toby-Alexander Smith in 2020.
Toby is best known for his role of Gray Atkins in EastEnders from 2019 until 2022.
While the pair were private with their relationship at the beginning, over time, they have shared more photos with each other.
The couple announced their engagement in 2022, before tying the knot in August 2023.
When was Amy Walsh pregnant?
Amy Walsh was pregnant back in 2021. She and Toby announced that Amy was pregnant in September that year.
Amy had previously revealed she had been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome at the age of 20 and so she was surprised she was able to get pregnant so quickly.
Their daughter, Bonnie Mae was born in December 2021.
Amy took time out of Emmerdale for her maternity leave, but once she came back, she has remained ever since.
She has previously spoke on Lorraine about the struggles of balancing being a new mum and also working as an actress.
Speaking of the difficulty, she said: “I went full throttle into a massive storyline. I barely saw either of them. And then he [Toby] flew to Bulgaria for a film. It’s constantly like that. It is a struggle.
“I don’t have family around me to help. It’s tricky, but you do it.”

Amy Walsh’s career away from Emmerdale
Emmerdale isn’t the only place you may have spotted Amy on your screens over the years.
And it also seems acting isn’t her only talent. In 2023 she took part in the eighteenth series of Celebrity MasterChef. Amy successfully made it right to the final of the show. But just at the end, she lost to Wynne Evans.
A lot of years ago she also featured on an episode of Family Fortunes, as her sister, Kimberly was playing.
It was also announced last year that she would star beside her husband in an upcoming movie – that he wrote himself.
More recently, Amy, alongside Emmerdale and other soap co-stars started their own reality TV show, Drama Queens. Throughout the series, they would allow the cameras a behind the scenes glimpse at their lives away from the soaps.
Emmerdale usually airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, with an early release at 7am on ITVX.
Classic Emmerdale usually airs weekdays at 6am and 6.30am, plus 1.40pm and 2.10pm on ITV3.

In Emmerdale, Aaron Dingle is working to cover up the death of Anthony, and now fans are worried that Danny Miller is leaving.
Last week, Aaron attacked Anthony in the Depot and then worked to move his dead body with boyfriend John.
But, could Danny Miller be leaving the soap as Aaron? Here’s all we know about a potential exit. Eek…
Anthony was killed (Credit: ITV)
Aaron attacked Anthony in Emmerdale
Last week in the Dales, Anthony stumbled into the Depot to meet up with Steph after being whacked on the head with a candlestick by Laurel and after almost being shot by Caleb.
Just when he thought he had reached safety, he got an unwelcome surprise when he came face to face with Aaron. Aaron had caught wind of Anthony’s abuse of Ruby, with haunting memories of his dad Gordon flooding back in his mind.
Aaron then attacked Anthony but vowed not to kill him. He (and many viewers) wanted to see him rot in prison.
But, Aaron was pushed to the edge and kept on punching him… and punching him.
Quickly legging it after realising the extent of what he’d done, Aaron then headed back to the Depot but this time with John by his side.
John confirmed that Anthony had died and then helped Aaron wrap his body up and dispose of it. Such a romantic gesture.
Is Danny leaving the role? (Credit: ITV)
Everything we know about a Danny Miller potential exit as Aaron
At the moment, John and Aaron are working on a plan to get rid of the evidence that points them towards Anthony’s death.
They’re working to get rid of any trace of his car and body. But, if this backfires, Aaron AND John could be both looking at a lengthy prison sentence. And, fans are worried Danny Miller’s Aaron could soon be departing from our screens as a result.
One fan commented: “Getting anxiety thinking of the possibility that Aaron could go to prison for this… The only upside being that Robert is in there.”
Another wrote: “I wonder what’s going to happen? Please don’t let Aaron go to jail. I knew John had a load of secrets when he arrived. This is going to get very dark.”
A third person also added: “They can’t do that to us! Pleaseeeee don’t let Aaron get sent down!”
As it stands, the soap hasn’t announced an exit for Danny Miller as Aaron. Thankfully. But, Aaron’s definitely found himself in a sticky situation. Things could get messy.
Prison is always a possibility in a storyline like this. But, can Aaron manage to cover his tracks? Or, will he get caught and exit the soap?

With the search for April Windsor heating up in Emmerdale, more police have been brought in to help, and one of them is a familiar face – former Coronation Street star Rhea Bailey.
April went missing on Christmas Day following a tough few weeks for the teen. Viewers saw April get into a mystery car, but there have been no sightings, leaving dad Marlon devastated.
Rhea Bailey appeared in Emmerdale tonight (Monday, December 30) as Anna, the family liaison officer on April’s case. Here’s the lowdown on the star.

Rhea Bailey in Emmerdale – the latest
After Marlon Dingle and Mary Goskirk had conducted yet another search for April, there was a knock at the door. The woman, played by Rhea Bailey, introduced herself as Anna, the family liaison officer.
However, she didn’t have the news the family were hoping for as she informed Marlon, Rhona and Mary that they had no new leads in the search for April.
Anna was interested in April’s state of mind before her disappearance, suggesting that she could have left of her own accord because she was upset after learning the truth about how her mum Donna Windsor died. This theory was supported by the search of the house, where they discovered there was money missing as well as some of April’s belongings.
Marlon lost his temper with Anna on a couple of occasions, but she remained calm as she tried to help the family through the difficult time.
Anna supported the family through an awful time when they were summoned into the hospital when Jacob informed them that a stabbing victim had come into A&E with April’s purse.
Marlon and Rhona were then told that the victim had died, needing to view the body to identify whether it was April or not. The couple didn’t know how to feel when they confirmed that it wasn’t April after all.
Anna apologised to the couple for this ordeal, continuing the quest to find missing April.

Caz became quite deranged and slightly unstable. On one occasion, she threatened Sophie and told her to stay away from Kate. This threat was ignored and Caz caught Kate and Sophie kissing – confirming her suspicions
Caz went back to the army. However, she soon returned to the Street, claiming she had injured her ankle. Kate agreed to look after Caz, but it was later revealed that Caz was faking the injury to get close to Kate again.
After Kate and Caz finally broke up, Caz became obsessed with Maria instead and proceeded to stalk her. Caz ended up setting Maria up for her own murder. The truth eventually came out and Caz was arrested.

Mark Jordon, who plays Daz, came back for just one episode after five years away. So we thought it was time to recap everything we know about the actor, including why he left Emmerdale and where he’s been.
As PC Bellamy in Heartbeat, Mark appeared in more than 300 episodes (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Mark Jordon’s early career
After being a jobbing actor for a few years, Mark became a household name when he won the role of PC Phil Bellamy in the cosy 1990s drama Heartbeat. He played PC Bellamy from 1992 until 2007 and appeared in more than 300 episodes of the show!
He also played PC Bellamy in Heartbeat spin-off The Royal.
Mark’s appeared in Casualty, Holby City, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Doctors over the years.
And in 2014, he joined Emmerdale as troublesome Daz Spencer. His first stint in the soap wasn’t a long one, but in 2017 he returned, this time staying for two years.

Mark’s personal life
Mark met his partner Laura Norton – who plays Kerry Wyatt – during his time at Emmerdale.

Children’s health battles
Mark and Laura have two young children. Both their son Jesse and their daughter Ronnie have been diagnosed with Usher Syndrome. Usher Syndrome is a rare genetic disease that affects hearing and vision.

Mark’s arrest
In 2018, Mark Jordon was accused of attacking Andrew Potts outside a pub called the Farrars Arms in Oldham.
A jury at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court found the actor not guilty of affray, unlawful wounding and assault by beating. He had denied the charges and said he acted in self-defence.
Speaking outside court, Mark said he was pleased his “awful ordeal” had ended.
The jury members were told that Mark had been involved in a row which started in a beer garden, where Mark and Laura were celebrating their engagement.
The court heard that Andrew Potts had made what Mark said were “vile comments” about his daughter and CCTV footage showed Mr Jordon having to be held back as he tried to grab Andrew Potts’ phone.
Later, the pair came face to face again and jurors were told Mark Jordon bit Andrew Potts in a scuffle. He told the jury it was “not planned, regretful and in the moment”. Mark Jordon suffered a broken wrist.
Mark was written out of Emmerdale following the allegations. When the verdicts were read out, Mark Jordon was tearful, and speaking outside court later, he said he was looking forward to getting back to his career.
Since then he has appeared in ITV’s Yorkshire Ripper drama, The Long Shadow, on stage and now on Emmerdale once more.

The jury is deliberating Tom’s fate in Emmerdale tonight and there’s a few familiar faces on it – including Charles Dale, who has a strong soap past.
Alongside Charles are Denise Welch and Jack Ellis, both of whom have really big soapy connections too.
But what about Charles? Some may know him as Dennis Stringer in Coronation Street, others as Big Mac in Casualty. Here’s the lowdown on the actor.

Charles Dale appears in Emmerdale
Foreman of the jury, Karl, is played by Charles Dale. He starts out believing Tom, but with Denise Welch’s Heidi adamant Tom is guilty, which way will it go?
Denise is very excited to be sharing the screen with Charles, having said: “I thoroughly enjoyed shooting this important episode of Emmerdale. To share the jury scenes with Charlie Dale and Jack Ellis and also to see lots of my Emmerdale mates made it a job to remember.”
Birth and early years
Actor Charles was born in Tenby, Pembrokshire, Wales on February 4 1963. His father ran a record shop in Tenby and both his parents were keen amateur actors.
Charles left school in 1979 and became an assistant stage manager at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven. He took on occasional acting roles, and moved to London, where he trained at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Charles is currently 61 years old and he has one child.

Charles Dale in Coronation Street
Despite only appearing in Emmerdale for a couple of episodes, Charles is a well-known soap face. Some will know him as Dennis Stringer in Coronation Street.
Dennis was a former Hells Angel who had been thrown out of the chapter after being forced to sell his motorbike to pay for his divorce. He arrived on Coronation Street in February 2000 when he met Les while doing community service.
Dennis ended up living with the Battersbys, but he soon moved in with Eileen Grimshaw after starting a relationship with her.
However in 2001, he fell for Janice Battersby and they began an affair. They eventually left their other halves but distraught Les reacted by driving his taxi to a wasteland and trying to gas himself inside.
Dennis went looking for him and discovered him unconscious. He managed to drag Les into his car and drove him to Weatherfield General.
But disaster struck when they were involved in a car accident. Les was unharmed, but Dennis was taken to intensive care. Although the crash team desperately tried to save him, Dennis died in hospital on January 2 2002.
Charles hasn’t ruled out a Big Mac return (Credit: BBC)
Big Mac in Casualty
Charles is a very recognisable face on British television. He has appeared in TV shows such as Lovejoy, Soldier Soldier, Bramwell, A Touch of Frost, New Tricks, Where the Heart is and Unforgotten. However he is perhaps best known for his role in Casualty.
The actor played Big Mac in the medical drama from November 2007 until June 2016. Big Mac was a hospital porter, but later became a healthcare assistant.
A veteran of the Falklands War, Big Mac felt hugely guilty at his own survival. He was sensitive and a bit grouchy!
His storylines included his heart attack in 2012 and being held hostage in 2014. Mac also stole pain medication from work and it was this that led to his eventual departure after eight and a half years on the show.
Big Mac resigned and left the ED in 2016. In 2021 he reprised the role for the show’s 35th anniversary. He only appeared in a cameo in Ethan Hardy’s dream. But when Charles was asked about a more permanent return to the wards by What to Watch, he said: “Never say never!”

What else has Charles Dale appeared in?
Charles continues to work in both theatre and TV. Fans of the 1997 John Simm drama The Lakes will recognise him as Chef.
The actor went on to play McGuire in At Home with the Braithwaites. He also played DS Gareth ‘Rambo’ Rees in ITV three-part drama The Pembrokeshire Murders in 2021.
Charles then starred in an episode of Shakespeare and Hathaway on BBC One in 2022. He also appeared in BBC drama Sherwood both in 2022 and again earlier this year.

Tom King’s fate and Belle Dingle’s future hangs in the hands of the jury in Emmerdale tonight – and the jurors include Kenneth, played by Jack Ellis.
Jack is a well-known face to British TV fans having had roles in both Bad Girls and Coronation Street.
Here’s what we know about Jack.

Jack Ellis in Emmerdale
The actor is joining the soap for a guest appearance during the trial of Tom King. He will appear as juror Kenneth, one of the 12 who will decide if Tom is innocent or guilty of abusing wife Belle.
Alongside Jack, Denise Welch and Charles Dale, will play Heidi and Karl. Karl is the foreman and very much Team Tom, while Heidi is totally on Belle’s side, with Denise saying: “My character Heidi was more emotionally involved so I felt that maybe she had experienced some form of domestic abuse herself.”
The Loose Women star also added: “To share the jury scenes with Charlie Dale and Jack Ellis and also to see lots of my Emmerdale mates made it a job to remember.”
So does Kenneth hold the key to whether Tom goes down?
Who is Jack Ellis?
Born John Stuart Ellis in London on June 4 1955, Jack is an actor in both television and theatre. He is 69 years old and has two children with his ex-wife Christine Kavanagh.
His son Theo is the bassist in bad Wolf Alice. He also has a daughter named Alice. Jack has two older brothers, both in the business too. Robin Ellis is an actor as well and Peter is a director.
As villain Jim Fenner in Bad Girls (Credit: ITV)
Bad Girls’ Jim Fenner
Jack is perhaps best known for playing Jim Fenner in ITV drama series, Bad Girls. Before this he also played Detective Inspector Muddyman in Prime Suspect and appeared in Heartbeat, Inspector Morse and Lewis, among others.
But Bad Girls was his first major part in 2006. He starred across seven series’ of the show as prison officer turned temporary governor Jim Fenner.
Fenner was a villain who made the inmates lives very difficult. He was put in prison himself at one point for death by dangerous driving until his wife falsified evidence to get him out. It meant he could return to his job at G-Wing and continue to terrorise the women.
He was responsible for the death of long-time nemesis Yvonne Atkins (played by EastEnders’ Linda Henry) after he locked her in a disused cell and left her to die.
After several attempts on his life by various inmates – including poisoned candles, drink spiking, a poisoned cheese straw and a poisoned thorn, he met his maker when Julie Johnston stabbed him in the throat with an icicle.

In December 2007, Jack joined Coronation Street as bookie Harry Mason. He and his son Dan took over the local betting shop. Harry soon started wooing Liz McDonald after his arrival in town. But she was married and reluctant to start an affair behind husband Vernon’s back.
However when she and Vernon split, they did start a romance – much to the disgust of Harry’s ex-wife Clarissa. Harry got back together with Clarissa, but then started an affair with Liz!
Liz and Clarissa then teamed up for revenge and took incriminating photos of Harry in just his underwear. Clarissa agreed to take him back as long as they left Weatherfield forever and started a new life elsewhere. They departed Weatherfield on September 26 2008.
Theatre work
Jack’s acting mainly consists of theatre work now. He starred in Sam Mendes directed Richard III alongside Kevin Spacey. He also toured in a production of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.
The Crucible and The Shawshank Redemption are other plays he has to his name.

What happened to Ruby in Emmerdale?
Since arriving in the village at the start of the year, Ruby quickly established herself as a popular character. But it’s only recently that her background has been explored.
In devastating flashback scenes that aired last week, it was revealed that Ruby had been sexually abused by her father Anthony when she was younger.
The flashback scenes depicted Ruby’s 16th birthday party. After everyone had left, Anthony took Ruby some cake in her room. In scenes that followed later, after he locked the door, Ruby looked visibly scared as she begged “Please not again. Not today.”
The special episode also hinted that Caleb Miligan may not be Steph’s father. With so much more to explore in this storyline, fans will be pleased that Beth is staying put.

Former Coronation Street star Rhea Bailey has joined the cast of Emmerdale, eight years after leaving the cobbles, reports suggest.
Rhea played Caz Hammond in Coronation Street between 2015 and 2016, and now her agency has revealed that she has landed a role in Emmerdale.
During her time in Coronation Street, Caz was part of some exciting plots including an engagement to Kate Connor and obsession with Maria Connor. However, it is not yet known what stories Rhea will be involved in on Emmerdale.
A familiar face is joining the cast (Credit: ITV/ Composite EI!)
The post said: “The talented RHEA BAILEY is back in the Dales filming more episodes of EMMERDALE for ITV.”
Although no further details, such as her character’s name have been released, it sounds like it will be a substantial role and we’ll likely see her on screen soon.
As well as Coronation Street, Rhea also previously had roles in Crossroads, The Bill and Waterloo Road.
Caz became quite unstable and she threatened Sophie, warning her to stay away from Kate. However, Caz’s suspicions turned out to be correct, and after catching Kate and Sophie kissing, she left.
But Caz wasn’t fully done. She returned claiming she’d injured her ankle. Kate agreed to look after her, but soon became suspicious. It was later revealed that Caz was faking the injury to be near Kate.
After Kate and Caz broke up, Caz became obsessed with Maria and proceeded to stalk her. Caz ended up setting Maria up for her own murder. But Kate and Aidan managed to track Caz down and she was eventually arrested.

The Emmerdale cast is ever-changing, whether that’s growing or shrinking or a recast – there’s always something happening.
But occasionally when they lose a fan-favourite for various reasons, the show takes a hit. So sometimes these characters appear back on our screens looking completely different.
Recasting characters is a tricky move. The show needs to find someone who will do the role justice and has a familiar feeling. But it does pay off sometimes.
So here are some characters that everyone wants back on the show – even if they need to be recasted.
Should a new Adam Barton join the Emmerdale cast? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale recast: Adam Barton.
Adam Thomas played this iconic Barton boy from his first arrival on screen in 2009, right up to his exit in 2018.
But many fans feel that Adam should be back in the village, especially since Moira just had brain surgery.
His return to the village could work so well with many of the current storylines. So why not?
While some fans on a reddit thread called for him to be recast, others believed they couldn’t see him “played by anyone else.”
Should Joe come back? (Credit: ITV)
Joe Tate
While many argued on reddit that some characters shouldn’t be recasted, they seemed to agree that Joe Tate could be – if Ned Porteous didn’t want to return to the show.
Joe’s exit in 2018 left a lot of things unsaid and waiting. The potential storylines that could work if the show had a Joe Tate return is endless.
And many fans on that reddit thread agree because Ned “only stayed a short amount of time” on the show, a recast wouldn’t be completely ridiculous.
Fans would like to see Debbie return for current storylines. (Credit: ITV)
Debbie Dingle
Just like Adam, this one is tricky. Charley Webb created a statement character during her time on Emmerdale. And so to imagine anyone else playing her would be strange.
But it’s still not impossible. Charley has made numerous returns to Emmerdale over the years, but none seem to have stuck.
If there was any time that would be good for a Debbie return – it would be now.
She would be arriving right back into family drama. Cain has just cheated on Moira, and Charity is dealing with the Ross and Mackenzie feud. So who better to help Ross through it than the girl he spent years wanting to be with?

Emmerdale recast: Daz Eden
This one takes fans back a while. Luke Tittensor played the role from 2003 until his sudden exit in 2009.
The years he spent on the show, he was at the height of some huge storylines, and his character seemed to mix well with others.
Unfortunately Luke’s contract got terminated in 2009 as he pled guilty to grievous bodily harm and so Daz left Emmerdale.
But some fans commented that his identical twin brother, Elliot, could easily appear in the show to bring Daz back.
They wrote: “I will never understand why they didn’t recast Daz Eden. He could have been recast with his identical twin brother.”
It would be a blast from the past, but it would create a shake-up to the Emmerdale cast.

Was John wrongly cast?
Some fans point out that Oliver Farnworth’s talents aren’t being completely shown through his portrayal of John Sugden.
Instead they believe he should have been an entirely different character.
A user wrote: “Oliver Farnworth should have been a Jamie recast. Although he would have to put on a southern accent.”
One pointed out he is “far too old”, but another backed them reminding them that “Emmerdale change ages all the time.”

An Emmerdale recast that worked!
There is a lot of debate on reddit about the issues of recasting characters. While it’s quite normal and frequent for soaps to change a young actor (Sarah and Gabby for example), it’s quite rare for a successful older recast.
One fan pointed out that Robert Sugden was Emmerdale’s last successful recast, noting the issue seems to be the writing changes.
Ryan Hawley took over the role from Karl Davies in 2014. And he immediately fit right in.
They wrote: “Recasting hasn’t been great for many years now. But the main problem is Emmerdale’s writing changes the character. They don’t fully know what they want to do with their direction and give them anything, even if it doesn’t make sense to their previous personality.”
