What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Ruby slapped Steph and Caleb made a confession to Chas

Emmerdale tonight saw Ruby come face to face with her daughter Steph for the first time in years, but it wasn’t a happy family reunion.

Elsewhere, Caleb opened up to Chas over his guilt about Steph, and Tom continued to rub the Dingles up the wrong way.

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Monday, November 18.

Emmerdale: Ruby starting guiltily at an injured Steph

    Ruby and Steph came face-to-face

Caleb invited Steph over to the house for breakfast. Things got more frosty once Ruby arrived home, earlier than expected. Caleb left the two women to talk – but that perhaps wasn’t the wisest decision.

Ruby and Steph both went on the attack, with Steph revealing that she had been in touch with her grandma a lot and the reason she left her all the money instead of Ruby was because of Ruby’s “histrionics.”

As they got onto the real issue – Steph being sent away to boarding school when she was a teen, Ruby insisted it had been the right decision. Steph felt differently, however, and responded: “You couldn’t be bothered, mum. Just own it.” Ruby shot back: “You stole a car! You were 14 and out of control. You try owning that!”

Steph wouldn’t take this lying down though and claimed she was just acting out as she was “desperate for someone to give a toss.” She really dug deep in an attempt to hurt Ruby, as she told her: “Other kids had mums. I had this cold-hearted fake that couldn’t stand to have me near her. Oh, Mummy’s busy. Mummy’s tried. Mummy’s got a headache.”

After being called a “selfish [bleep]”, Ruby snapped and slapped her daughter. Doesn’t seem the best way to make amends…

    Steph met Ross

In Emmerdale tonight, after leaving her mum, Steph was shown on the phone, where she told the mystery caller that her mum had totally lost it. She then sighed and said: “Yes, I know what’s at stake.” Is she just talking about the inheritance, or is she up to something else?

We then saw Steph having a drink with Ross Barton in The Hide. After opening up to him, he cheekily told her he is an “expert on women… with estrangement issues.”

Despite not even knowing each other’s names, Steph took Ross back to the B&B.

Caleb unburdened on Chas in Emmerdale tonight

After leaving Ruby and Steph to slang it out, Caleb visited half-sister Chas, who was shocked to discover she had a niece that Caleb had never mentioned.

Caleb sadly told Chas: “She was my little mate, you know? She was like my shadow. And I let her down. And this is why I never talk about her because it hurts so much. It’s easier to just pretend she didn’t exist.”

After Caleb told Chas about Steph stealing a car and trying to run away, Chas quipped: “Sounds pretty standard Dingle.” But Caleb was in no mood for jokes and he made the big revelation that Steph playing up was all because of him. “She caught me with this woman that I’d been seeing,” he said. Steph started playing up after Caleb had her lie to her mum, resulting in Ruby deciding to send her away to boarding school.

Later, Caleb reassured Ruby that they’d get their daughter back, but is Steph planning on sticking around?

Emmerdale tonight: Tom and Paddy talking outside

    Tom pushed Cain’s buttons

Mack called Paddy at the vets for someone to come and look at Moira’s prized bull. Much to Cain’s annoyance it was Tom who turned up.

Cain said “You’re not going anywhere near my cattle,” which sounds like a euphemism but isn’t. Cain then called Tom a smug git, which is pretty mild considering what Tom has put Cain’s sister Belle through.

However, Tom pointed out that the farm’s insurance wouldn’t pay out if they declined medical care, so Cain had to relent and let Tom see to the bull.

Later, Tom overheard Sam telling Cain that Samson was having a bit of trouble in prison. Tom being the cruel person that he is couldn’t resist another dig, and asked Cain if prison was a rite of passage for Dingle men. “Samson, Noah, even Kyle. Must be a bizarre kind of family that considers that normal,” he said, before adding: “Belle didn’t have a chance.”

Cain couldn’t resist pushing Tom to the ground, with Tom responding he’d add a new set of overalls to the vet bill – despite the fact that no damage had been done to the set he was wearing.

Sam warned Cain to be careful with Tom as they didn’t want to ruin the trial. They were interrupted by Moira, who arrived home early from her break. She accused Cain of struggling to cope without her – but with Moira’s operation booked in for this week, can he pull it back together and be there for her?

    Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight

Eric and Brenda decided to have an engagement party, and Eric surprised his fiancée by telling her they were going to have a Christmas wedding.

Meanwhile, following the big reveal that Caleb had conned Jai, he decided to offer him a job as a manager. Jai told him to stuff the “poxy job.” However, after a few choice words from Laurel, Jai started to reconsider.

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Pollard’s breaking our hearts, Tina’s boring and Steph’s arrived!

Emmerdale review of the week: Pollard’s breaking our hearts, Tina’s boring and Steph’s arrived!

This week’s Emmerdale review is a bit emotional, we’ve got to be honest. Not Piper levels of emotion, obvs, but we have found ourselves a little misty-eyed at points.

    Much to our surprise!

Here’s what set us off this week in our Emmerdale review.

Eric is annoyed at Caleb's new business
Eric was ever so cross with Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Eric’s ordeal

Yes, yes, we know that Eric Pollard is a grumpy git with a fondness for a scam and a general air of crossness but how sad was his plight in this week’s episodes? That’s why this Emmerdale review is so teary!

As we know, Eric was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a while ago, and though he’s been managing well, there have been signs that he is beginning to struggle.

His tremors have become more obvious, though he’s been trying to hide them, and this week he lost his temper when he couldn’t get an appointment at the doctor’s surgery.

He also lost his temper, more than once, with Caleb who launched his new business and sent lorries hurtling past Pollard’s house.

But that’s not what made us teary. What really stabbed us in the heart was seeing Eric, who was once so bold and bolshy, trapped in bed, begging for help.

Thankfully he eventually recovered enough to get outside and head off to find someone who could come to his aid.

Sadly for him, that someone turned out to be Caleb! Bickering all the way, Eric let him drive him to find Liam.

Pollard and Brenda in the pub
Pollard and Brenda are making wedding plans (Credit: ITV)

    Plucking our heartstrings!

All this drama resulted in Pollard realising he wanted to marry his long-term partner, Brenda. So he got down on one knee (admittedly with a bit of difficulty) and proposed. And Brenda said yes. And we found ourselves welling up at the sweet moment.

Chris Chittell has played Pollard since 1986, making him Emmerdale’s longest-serving cast member. Sometimes when actors have played the same role for a long time, it’s easy to take them for granted. But this week Chris reminded us just how good he is.

And a big thumbs up for Lesley Dunlop – his real-life wife and now on-screen fiancée – too. We know Brenda is leaving Emmerdale but we’re not sure how she’ll go. Will Eric go too? We do know that Pollard’s story won’t be easy to watch, but we are sure Chris and Lesley will do it proud.

At the end of his tether, Jai Sharma [CHRIS BISSON] demands back the money Caleb Miligan [WILL ASH] hid for him in an offshore account.
Caleb’s nicked all of Jai’s money but Laurel’s been shafted too (Credit: ITV)

Caleb v Jai in our Emmerdale review

Elsewhere in Emmerdale, things weren’t so interesting. We are not the biggest fans of a business-focused storyline at the best of times, and this whole thing with Caleb and Jai left us more than a little confused.

What exactly is Caleb’s business? Is it the haulage business? Or are there two haulage firms in Emmerdale now?

Why is Billy turning up at work wearing a suit? What is Kerry being paid to clean? We have a lot of questions, but we’re not that bothered about the answers, to be honest.

BUT saying all that, we are very pleased that Jai’s got his comeuppance. All that swaggering around and not playing fair over his divorce has finally come back to bite him, and we are very pleased.

Except, we wish he hadn’t shafted Laurel in the process, and we really wish it wasn’t Caleb who’d come out on top. Because he totally doesn’t deserve it either.

Steph's arrival will cause a stir in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Steph is wondering why her brother is a Geordie, just like we are (Credit: ITV)

Steph’s arrived in our Emmerdale review!

We’ve been desperate to meet Caleb and Ruby’s daughter, Steph. We really like Ruby now and we’re looking forward to getting to know more about her daughter, too.

Georgia Jay seems to be perfectly cast as Steph. She’s physically similar to Ruby, and she’s even got similar mannerisms.

And she’s also perfected Caleb’s steely stare which she greeted her long-lost dad with. Altogether she’s great.

One thing that puzzled us a tiny bit though – and let’s be honest, this isn’t the first time the Miligan family have left us scratching our heads in this respect – was Steph’s accent.

We’re not sure where she’s been but she is super-posh. More so than her southerner mum, who apparently grew up alongside her Mancunian dad. And quite where Geordie Nicky fits into this rich family tapestry of accents, we don’t know.

But so far, we like the look of Steph. And we can’t wait to find out more about her!

    Mandy and Tina fight
    YAWN (Credit: ITV)

    Tina’s a damp squib

We were SO excited that Tina Dingle was returning but so far, she’s not filling us with excitement.

We might be more interested if it turns out Vinny really does have some siblings he’s never met, but that’s only a maybe. Frankly there are more than enough Dingles in the village already!

Our heads were spinning with the speed of Vinny finding out the truth, falling out with Mandy, falling out with Tina, then forgiving Mandy, all in the space of four episodes.

Where will Tina go from here? We’re still willing to give this return a chance, because we loved Tina Mark 1 back in the 90s, but we need something exciting to happen really soon!

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Jai tried to kill Caleb, Steph arrived, Tom made more threats and there was a romantic proposal

Emmerdale tonight was packed full of the usual drama as Jai almost killed Caleb. And he would have done if Steph hadn’t arrived in the nick of time.

Meanwhile, Tom was making threats and there was a romantic proposal that broke our hearts a little bit.

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Friday November 15.

Jai lost everything in Emmerdale tonight

The penny finally dropped for Jai he'd been cheated (Credit: ITV)

    Jai found out the truth

After creeping round in the dark searching for evidence on what Caleb‘s really up to, Jai discovered an incriminating file.

Later on, the opening of the depot got going, but Jai stormed in and confronted Caleb in front of everyone. Caleb shot Jai down and revealed what had really happened – Jai had invested in the shell company, not the business Caleb Miligan International, which is the profitable one. The shell company is in the red and will never get out. Jai has lost everything.

We’re not ones to say we told you so, or cheer in the face of someone else’s misery, but Jai did deserve this, just a bit.

Also, after days of wondering, we finally know exactly what Caleb’s business is – a local solution to all your distribution needs. Because that’s just what the villagers need.

It was nearly goodbye for Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Jai tried to kill Caleb

Jai was still trying to get his money back, but Caleb insisted he had no way to prove anything. So Jai decided to fight back by trashing the place – and pinning Caleb up with a forklift truck, crushing him against some pallets

But his party was spoiled by an unexpected visitor who was filming the whole assault. Steph Miligan is here. She threatened Jai with the police and he insisted he was not giving up without a fight, before stalking off.

Later in the pub, Laurel found out Jai had tricked her out of her divorce settlement. Jai walked in and insisted he would do right by Laurel, but then launched at everyone else in the pub telling them he was better than them all. Nice.

Caleb’s daughter turned up in Emmerdale tonight

So why is Steph here? Well it’s certainly not for a happy family reunion when she admitted she was only there because she knew Ruby wasn’t.

Steph wants her inheritance and then she’s gone for good. Caleb begged her to stay, but it’s clear there’s a whole lot of family history to unpack here, and she is absolutely not over her messy childhood. So we reckon she’ll stick around for a bit…

On another note, she seems very posh – it’s an eclectic family mix, isn’t it the Miligans? Ruby is a southerner, Caleb is from Manchester and Nicky from Newcastle. We’d be lying if we said this won’t bother us a teeny tiny bit.

Tom played the hardman in Emmerdale tonight

After almost a week without Tom on our screens, he was back tonight whinging about being a victim. He wants to look that word up in the dictionary.

Tom has decided he is going back to work – whether anyone lets him or not. He won’t be bullied out of his job and they have no right to stop him working. Even though his bosses suspended him. Pretty sure they do have a right, but then again employment law isn’t our speciality.

Tom then confronted Paddy saying he wouldn’t be victimised (seriously does anyone have an Oxford English to hand?). He threatened to expose everything the vets has done wrong – cutting corners and letting the Dingles not pay their bills. Paddy had no choice but to give in.

Meanwhile, Jimmy tentatively broached the subject of Tom looking for his own place, but Tom emotionally manipulated him again and Jimmy backed down.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Brenda was thrilled with Pollard's proposal (Credit: ITV)
Brenda was thrilled with Pollard’s proposal (Credit: ITV)

    Pollard proposed!

Eric was back in the shop and Jimmy let it slip to Brenda that he’d been off ill all day the previous day. Pollard had to confess everything to Brenda. The new pills Liam has prescribed are making him sick so that’s why he took time off work.

They shared a tender moment and vowed to hang on to each other for the rest of their lives – which is foreshadowing that they don’t have long left together if ever we heard it, especially as we know Brenda is leaving one way or another.

Pollard was so grateful for Brenda that he got down on one knee and proposed. He told her he loved her with all his heart and she accepted. Happiness at last!

But why do Emmerdale do this? Set us up a happy couple for once all-the-while knowing one way or another Brenda and Pollard’s happiness will be ripped away. It’s a cruel trick, really and one we’re not too fond of.

    Mandy is forgiven! (Credit: ITV)
    Mandy is forgiven! (Credit: ITV)

    Vinny and Mandy made up

Vinny still won’t talk to Mandy, so Lydia gave her some tough love and told her to put it right. So she took him a scrapbook of all his life, all her memories of him.

Mandy continued to beg for forgiveness and Vinny is clearly still struggling. But he admitted he gets why Mandy did it. And he told her he loved her, even calling her mum again. Aw!

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Eric got answers over his illness, Jai realised the truth and Tina’s still not gone for good

Emmerdale tonight saw Eric get answers from Liam over his health crisis. Hopefully it’s all going to be okay and he’s vowed to keep fighting, but it really did have us worried for a while.

Meanwhile, Jai finally realised Caleb was not his mate, they were not business partners and he’s not going to get all of his money back. Whoops.

Here’s everything that went down in Emmerdale on Wednesday November 13.

Pollard does not want to be a burden to anyone (Credit: ITV)

Eric was seriously ill in Emmerdale tonight

Eric had not turned up for work and Tracy was pretty cross, but Brenda wasn’t worried. She should have been though as he was stuck in bed, unable to get up. He couldn’t get his legs to move and although he thought he had called Brenda and was begging her to help him, his phone was off.

Pollard managed to get himself moving and walked down the road in his pyjamas and slippers. Caleb found him and insisted on helping him. Pollard gave in and said he wanted to go to Liam’s house.

Liam told Pollard he was suffering from freezing, which was a symptom of his Parkinson’s. It’s all because there is a shortage of his usual medicine and he can’t get access to it. Poor Eric is suffering mentally as he believes his condition is worsening, but Liam reassured him it’s because of the medication.

Tearful Eric refused to be anybody’s problem. He even then went back to work where he encountered Caleb again. And although he vowed he wasn’t giving up his campaign against Caleb’s depot, there was a warmth developing between them.

Jai has been an idiot and he knows it (Credit: ITV)

The penny dropped for Jai in Emmerdale tonight

Caleb is clearly playing Jai, who wants to be in charge, but has been lumbered with marketing and costings. He,was not happy and he wants his money back, but Caleb was not interested in giving him a penny.

Will later warned Jai not to trust Caleb as he’ll try to take him for all he has. Alarm bells finally started ringing that he is being scammed. It took it’s time!

Meanwhile, Kerry tapped Jai up for a job, but he refused. However, Caleb then gave Kerry the job and Jai was not at all happy. It was all rather tedious as he tried to fire her, but Kerry said Caleb was in charge.

Jai later demanded his money back again and Caleb pretended to make a phone call to sort it all out. He claimed Jai will have his money by the end of the week. But Jai then checked his phone and realised Caleb hadn’t called anyone at all.

The penny is starting to drop and honestly, after the way Jai has behaved towards Laurel, we’re pretty pleased he’s ended up with egg on his face. The supposedly bright businessman has nothing left and he’s about to realise it…

No one knows whether Tina has gone for good

Vinny was moping (understandably) because he regretted not asking all the questions before Tina left. She’s staying with a mate in a caravan after Cain set fire to hers and Vinny decided to see her.

However he was too afraid to go in when he arrived. He saw Tina from a distance and heard what he thought were his siblings so rushed back to offload on Gabby in the Woolpack. He even momentarily spoke to Mandy to tell her what had happened. Mandy thought it was good that Vinny didn’t want to see Tina and her kids, but Gabby told her as long as Tina is nearby, Vinny will always wonder.

Will Mandy now act to get rid of Tina for good? Has Tina really left the soap? Or is there one final showdown ahead?

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Nicola went to see Jimmy and offloaded what had happened with Angel yesterday. They agreed to present a united front and talk to their daughter together.

Jimmy insisted he wanted them back home as that’s clearly what Angelica wants too. Nicola got her hopes up, but then stupid Jimmy refused to kick Tom out and it was back to square one. When will he stop choosing that violent abuser over his own family we wonder?

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Tina left with nothing after Vinny double-crossed her and Cain set fire to her caravan

Emmerdale tonight saw Tina face the wrath of Vinny, Sam and Cain – and her life went up in smoke thanks to the latter. Will she still stick around after this?

Meanwhile, it was clear Pollard is facing a health crisis. But will he get the help he needs before it’s too late?

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Tuesday November 12.

    Vinny wouldn’t talk to Mandy

Vinny didn’t want to speak to Mandy, despite Gabby encouraging him to hear her out. Mandy meanwhile was desperate to talk to him and as her voice broke we actually felt quite sorry for her for once. There was no overacting or big, bubbly and loud Mandy here, just a genuinely broken one.

Tina got an offer she couldn't refuse (Credit: ITV)

    Vinny tricked Tina

Tina burst into Wishing Well to use the facilities and Sam gave it to her with both barrels. Vinny interrupted the argument to have it out with Tina.

Tina fronted it out and said she wouldn’t grovel. Not the best way to start. But then she claimed she was too much of a mess to raise a baby. Vinny was not stupid – he knew she came back when there was profit and not for him.

So Vinny offered her £50k – if she took the money, she would give Zak’s will back and would never contact him again. But if she didn’t, she could stay and be a mum to him.

    Tina choose the money. Obviously.

But there was no money in there, it was just paper. And Tina went mad. She’d already handed the will over and although she tried to argue it out, Vinny told her to get out and stay out.

Cain put an end to Tina's van life (Credit: ITV)

Cain dealt with Tina, but is she leaving now?

As the Dingles all descended to confront Tina, she dropped the bombshell she had other kids to feed. More Dingles? Is she telling the truth?

Cain wasn’t bothered to be honest, he just wanted her gone and arrived with a can of petrol. He meant business as he poured it all over the caravan. Tina begged him to stop, but none of the Dingles stood up for her and Cain lit the flame, with the caravan going up in smoke.

So will Tina stick around? Or will she go? Well, she hasn’t got anywhere to stay, but it actress Samantha Power had previously said her stint was a short one, so could this be the kick she needs to get out of town and leave the Dingles alone for good?

Pollard lost it in Emmerdale tonight

Pollard was still out for Caleb’s head and Brenda warned him to leave it alone. Of course Pollard had no intention of doing so. But then he made a phone call to the doctors and couldn’t get through and broke down in tears. So it’s clear something else is going on here and it’s not just Caleb getting to him.

He then went to the doctors and launched into an attack on Ella, tearfully begging to speak to a doctor. Bear and Wendy stepped in and escorted him out.

When Brenda later confronted him, Pollard claimed he just needed a routine appointment. But something tells us it’s more than that. Is Pollard really okay?

Later in the Woolpack, Eric lost it at Caleb again, but he was clearly struggling, shaking as he tried to get the upper hand. We are not happy about this, poor Eric…

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

    Caleb played Jai

Jai gave Billy a trial at the depot, playing the big boss. But he didn’t check with Caleb. Oops, that’s sure to have consequences.

Jai also asked for his money back from Caleb after Laurel found out he was involved with the depot. But Caleb played hardball and insisted he was best off leaving the money in the offshore account. He managed to talk Jai round, but clearly Caleb has an agenda. Will Jai be clever enough to work out what it is?

Angelica was furious with her mum over checking her laptop. But Nicola was adamant she was just looking out for Angel and that she needed to go back to school. Nicola tried the softly, softly approach, but Angelica blurted out she believes she is evil. Can Nicola help her daughter through this?

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Tina enjoyed getting one up over Mandy and Eric sparked up a feud with Caleb

Emmerdale tonight saw Tina reveal to Vinny that she is his real mum which resulted in a slanging match in the middle of the village.

Elsewhere, Eric thought it was a good idea to take on Caleb. There’s really only going to be one winner there.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Monday November 11.

Emmerdale tonight: Vinny discovered the truth

Mandy drove Tina’s caravan to the middle of a random field. Tina opened the door and then decided to step out without opening her eyes, because what’s the worst that could happen? She fell face first into a pile of mud, hurrah.

Mandy informed Tina that she was done with being blackmailed and told her to get lost and leave the Dingles alone. Of course Tina was never going to take that lying down and she headed to see Vinny.

When Mandy arrived, she was accosted by Vinny who asked: “Did you buy me when I was a kid?” Mandy admitted she did, telling Vinny that Tina ‘was with your lowlife dad before I was.’ To which Tina responded ‘She stole him!’

Mandy and Tina then had a screaming match to argue other which of them was worse. “I rescued an unwanted child and you made me pay for the privilege,” Mandy shouted.

The argument continued into the village, where Vinny casually revealed to Sam and Lydia: “So Tina’s my mum and she sold me to Mandy when I was kid like I was a lamp or rug or summit.”

Mandy tried to win Vinny round, and insisted that despite what had happened, she was his ‘real’ mum. Mandy was distraught when Vinny told her she was no one to him, and he marched off.

    Caleb threatened Eric

Eric complained to Brenda about the lorries driving through the village. Brenda was too away with the fairies to care.

Later, Eric took it upon himself to complain to lorry driver Will and then to Caleb. Caleb couldn’t have been less sympathetic if he tried as he told Eric once the factory was up and running properly, there would be even more lorries. To rub salt in the wound he told Eric ‘sounds like a ‘you’ problem.’

Not one to be mocked, Eric decided to climb into an unattended lorry and he promptly reversed it into a stack of crates. Eric was visibly shaking, but when questioned by Will, Eric responded like a child might, and said ‘I’m shaking… with laughter.’

Later, Caleb visited Eric at his shop and questioned how his stock arrived at the shop given he cared so much about the lorries being bad for the environment. Caleb then threatened Eric, telling him he’d take the video footage of Eric crashing the lorry to the police if he didn’t wind his neck in.

    Nicola made a discovery

Noticing that Angel was spending a lot of time on her laptop, Nicola decided to spy on her. She discovered that Angel had been visiting a support group for people in a similar situation to her.

Nicola discovered Angel had written about feeling nothing after she attacked a girl and got her sentence extended. Nicola felt ashamed of her daughter, but that shame soon turned to sadness when Angel made her read the rest of what she had written.

Angel wrote: “I just wanna be like I was before. But I think what I’ve done has changed me, ruined me. My parents hate me. I’m broken and I don’t know if I can ever be fixed.” Nicola immediately broke down in tears over what her daughter is going through.

    Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight

John helped an injured Aaron home and listed guiltily as Aaron revealed that Ross is a mess as ‘that woman had him battered according to Billy. She thought it was him who blew the whistle and nicked her money.’

Viewers know that it was actually John who called the police. But this is Emmerdale and secrets don’t stay secret for long…

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Boxing boredom, Dawn’s back, and Tina’s in trouble

Emmerdale review of the week: Boxing boredom, Dawn’s back, and Tina’s in trouble

This week’s Emmerdale review is written wearily as we force ourselves to watch another bout of illegal boxing and all the toxic men in the village trying to out do each other.

But there were some less exhausting parts too. Here’s what we thought of the action in this week’s Emmerdale review.

    Jade threatens Billy
Jade seems to be an evil criminal mastermind running a two-bit boxing match in random barns. (Credit: ITV)

Boxing boredom in our Emmerdale review

What on earth is all this then? Nothing about this illegal boxing story makes sense. In no particular order, here are the things that have been bothering us this week…

First up, how is Jade both a two-bit boxing promoter running fights in random barns, and at the same time a criminal mastermind with enough contacts to threaten Billy’s kids and know that Billy’s wife used to be an addict?!

How are her henchmen so evil and strong that they can beat Ross to a pulp, but not bright enough to pick up the money belt that looked like it might have belonged to Martin Fowler.

Why were the people watching the fight a rag-tag group of weirdos but somehow with enough cash to place bets so massive that they had to pay for them with rolls of money? It’s all a mystery.

    Dawn stepped up

Dawn came up with the brilliant idea of Billy throwing the fight. Which was a) surprisingly smart for Dawn and b) totally what Jade should have done last week.

But as it happened it didn’t matter, because John called the police and everyone scarpered. And we were left groaning that this whole awful story still isn’t over.

Dawn looking at Ross on Emmerdale

    Dawn’s back

It’s hard to remember now she mostly wanders round with a chip on her shoulder and a laundry basket on her hip, but Dawn used to be quite interesting. And she had a bit of an edge to her. We caught a little glimpse of that old Dawn this week and we liked it!

There was a definite spark between her and Ross, which reminded us how much we liked them together back in the day. And it was quite amusing how all the big men – Ross, Billy, Aaron – were scared of Jade, while Dawn just sent her packing. More, please!

We’re undecided about Tina’s return (Credit: ITV)

Tina’s back, too in our Emmerdale review

Tina’s back in Emmerdale but unlike Dawn, she’s bearing no trace of the old Tina Dingle whatsoever. Unlike some fans, we liked Tina when she first came back for Zak’s funeral – but she’s not quite doing it for us. Mostly because she’s so completely different from the old Tina!

First time round, Tina was smart, with a sharp-tongue, and a quick brain. She was a bit classier than the average Dingle – we’re not talking Kim Tate classy but you know what we mean – and she was ambitious, albeit ruthless.

New Tina is a carbon copy of Rose Jackson, in her scheming and lying, and she even looks a bit like her. She probably is entitled to some of Zak’s house but we don’t much care either way.

And we still don’t understand why or how Mandy kept the identity of Vinny’s mum a secret.

Why so much hate for Tina?!

Another thing that’s got us scratching our heads over Tina is why everyone hates her. We admit she did wrong during her time in Emmerdale, but she was devoted to her family and grief-stricken over the loss of her brother Ben.

She and Mandy were always besties and their goodbye was heartfelt and emotional. She even begged Mandy to go to London with her and left her cousin the fancy car Frank Tate had bought her.

We sort of get Mandy having mixed feelings about her now given the Vinny sitch, but what about the rest of the Dingles? It’s all very confusing!

Vet's receptionist Ella revealed a dark past in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Give Ella something to do for heaven’s sake! (Credit: ITV)

    What’s the point of Ella?

We are reluctant to say this out loud because we love Paula Lane, who plays child killer Ella, but what’s the point of her now her secret’s been revealed? Give her something to do! We liked her almost-friendship with Cain, and her bonding with Manpreet for starters. Her backstory does make her hard to like, but surely there’s a place for her somewhere in the village?

    Dingles united

One thing we did love about this week’s episode was the bonfire night fiasco with the Guy who looked like Tom King! Tom’s reaction was totally predictable, as he threw a massive tantrum, shouted at poor Amelia, and whinged to Uncle Jimmy.

And we LOVED the Dingles’ Spartacus moment when they all took the blame. The Dingles at their absolute best!

Definitely time for a Robert return! (Credit: ITV)

    Loving John

We are really enjoying John and Aaron’s budding romance. They’re so good together and it seems they’re on an even keel now after a pretty rocky start.

Which probably means it’s time for Robert to come back, wouldn’t you say? Hint, hint, Emmerdale writers…

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Fight club didn’t end well for anyone as Aaron fought for his life, Billy blew it and Ross was arrested

Emmerdale tonight was all about Billy and Ross’ fight club and it turned out everyone lost out – well, almost everyone. Ross has been arrested, Billy has sacrificed his marriage for his ego and Aaron was rushed to hospital. Mack, however, seems to think he has come out on top…

Meanwhile, Chas and Liam risked being exposed and Tina made her presence felt.

Here’s everything that went down in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday November 7.

    Billy messed up

Jade turned up at Butlers and announced the fight was now being held in one of the barns there. Elsewhere, Dawn was adamant Billy was throwing the fight – and she was going to bet their money on it to make sure of it. Billy, of course, sulked. Get over yourself, mate!

Dawn then went to visit Ross and it was clear there was a rapport there. But is Billy right, is there more to their relationship? And yes, we did see that look Dawn gave Ross when he took off his shirt! She liked what she saw (and she probably wasn’t the only one!)

As the fight got underway, Billy soon overpowered Ross. Dawn was clearly worried Billy was going back on their arrangement. And it looked like he was because he did not stay down in round three as instructed.

And then John arrived to say the police had been called and the fight come to a halt. So Dawn has lost all their money.

As everybody scarpered Dawn and Billy limped home and he STILL didn’t take responsibility. He was still blaming her and acting like he was the wounded party. But frankly that pain in his stomach is the least he deserves. Dawn did not want to hear it.

She then revealed she had pawned her wedding ring to place the bet and despite Billy’s pleas he would get it back (er, how, exactly, mate?) Dawn told him she didn’t see herself wearing it again. Can’t really blame her, can we?

    John saved Aaron’s life

With everyone gone from the barn, Jade’s goons were trying to clear all the evidence before they left. But they soon couldn’t find the money and started fighting over it. Aaron tried to stop one of them leaving as the police pulled up, but he was punched to the floor.

The hit managed to collapse Aaron’s lung and John had to intervene fast to save his life. He used a pen and a sharp knife to intubate and rescued him. And it turns out what he did was a pretty big deal. But will Aaron be grateful?

    Mack made a mint

With everyone running off, Mack stayed to deal with the cops, but it was clear he had a plan up his sleeve as he swiped the money and hid it.

After the police left, he was beside himself with joy at the fact he had all the cash. But something tells us this won’t end well for him at all!

    Ross was arrested

As everyone else managed to escape, it all came down on poor Ross. He was limping down a country lane when Cain drove past him. But knowing what had gone one, Cain refused to rescue him – just as good old PC Swirling drove round the corner and arrested him. Will Ross rat out Jade and Billy and bring more trouble to his door?

Chas and Liam in Emmerdale tonight

Chas and Liam were all loved-up after the night before. But Ella is still hanging round like a bad smell. She saw Liam coming and pretended to be on the phone setting up a date to make him jealous. However, her phone rang and he caught her out. Liam took her home to talk things through and Ella begged for the truth. He was kind, but still avoided being honest, so she leaned in to kiss him.

Ella then disappeared upstairs, but while she was there, Chas arrived and asked Liam to take her to the hospital. He immediately grabbed his keys and left Ella without saying a word. She walked back downstairs, but has she realised what’s really going on? And what action will she take?

Also in Emmerdale tonight: Tina caused more trouble

Sam found Tina in her caravan in the Dingles’ yard. She turned on the waterworks as she stood over Zak’s grave. But then she made it clear she wants her share of the house. Sam desperately looked for the will and couldn’t find it, suspecting Tina had swiped it.

Tina then arrived at the Woolpack and the Dingles rounded on her. It turned out, Mandy had the will and had stolen it to give to Tina.

Tina then managed to get Sam drunk and got him to spill some secrets – including the fact Vinny is loaded. Using this to her advantage, money-grabbing Tina continued to blackmail Mandy into getting Wishing Well sold so she can get her share. But will Mandy do it?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Amelia and Jimmy forgave Tom and we have lost all hope of them ever seeing sense

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Amelia and Jimmy forgave Tom and we have lost all hope of them ever seeing sense

Emmerdale tonight dealt us another blow when Jimmy and Amelia took Tom’s side after his outburst last night. Even Rodney was sympathetic to Tom – enough is enough.

Meanwhile, Billy was forced to confess to Dawn and sulked when she took control of the situation. But will he go along with her plan?

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday November 6)

Jimmy once again took Tom's side (Credit: ITV)

    Tom manipulated again

Jimmy is STILL sympathising with Tom. He’s STILL on Tom’s side. Even Rodney offered Tom some support. What is wrong with them?

Jimmy then tentatively asked if Amelia was all right and suggested she was quite upset about the night before. Tom turned it round (again) and said he knew he shouldn’t have got angry. He manipulated the situation suggesting he now felt like Jimmy and Amelia were now turning on him. Jimmy, of course, rushed to insist he was still on his side. Sigh. And the most stupid man in the village award goes to…

Amelia was a bit tougher to crack. Jimmy went in to bat for Tom when he saw her and said he was worried about Tom and there’s no way Tom would ever want to purposely upset her.

Amelia then relented and let Tom come over. He did his best puppy dog eyes and apologised for overreacting. He’d apparently been awake all night worried about Amelia. And she actually bought it and even ended up feeling sorry for him.

We cannot take much more of this.

Billy was given what-for in Emmerdale tonight

Billy was training and being miserable, avoiding Dawn and trying to keep his secret. When he returned from his run, Dawn was frantic, saying Clemmie and Lucas were missing. She has looked everywhere and they were nowhere to be seen.

Billy refused to call the police and confessed it was to do with Jade. Confused Dawn didn’t have time to press as Clemmie and Lucas ran round the corner. Jade didn’t have them and now Dawn wanted answers. Whoops Billy!

So he then confessed what he’s been up to. Dawn couldn’t believe he would be this stupid. Doesn’t know her husband very well, does she?!

Dawn then called Ross over to sort out the mess. She has a plan – they are going to fix the fight. She didn’t give Billy a choice, she said he was the one taking the fall and he had to drop.

Billy was not happy and decided it was because Dawn had feelings for Ross and wanted him to lose. But Dawn gave it to him with both barrels – she wasn’t messing and we quite like this side of her.

But something tells us Billy’s ego is so bruised he’s not giving this fight up without, er, a fight.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Chas had a wobble, but Liam reassured her (Credit: ITV)

    Liam and Chas were loved-up

Liam crept in to the Woolpack back room with flowers for Chas. Half of him is ready to throw caution to the wind and tell people – he’s even bought new aftershave and a new shirt for the occasion.

Things still seem a bit awkward between them as they started kissing. And then Chas suddenly pulled away.

As they sat together talking things through, Liam said he would wait as long as she wanted to. But Chas is worried about what she looks like after the cancer surgery. Liam insisted there was no pressure at all, he was here for her. They both confessed to feeling safe with each other, but Chas still isn’t ready. Liam was very understanding and they did end up in bed. It feels like there might be a real future for these two – if Emmerdale don’t go and mess yet another couple up, that is.

John and Aaron talk, but it doesn't go well (Credit: ITV)

    Aaron and John fell out

John and Aaron still need to talk, but John was avoiding it. However he eventually plucked up the courage to ask Aaron to open up to him. But Aaron was defensive and insisted he couldn’t deal with this now.

He said he did care about John and wanted him, but didn’t want to talk about his past. John just couldn’t shake that niggling feeling though, and pushed a bit too hard about Aaron’s feelings – insulting Robert in the process. Talking really isn’t their strong point, is it?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Tom showed his true colours as he lashed out at Amelia in front of everyone

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Tom showed his true colours as he lashed out at Amelia in front of everyone

Emmerdale tonight saw Tom King slip up when he launched a tirade of abuse on Amelia in public. Surely there’s no coming back from that now?

Meanwhile, Ross was winding Mackenzie up and it worked, and John worried about Robert.

Here’s all that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Tuesday November 5.

Amelia was devastated at Tom's harsh tirade (Credit: ITV)
Amelia was devastated at Tom’s harsh tirade (Credit: ITV)

    Tom hit out at Amelia

Sam and Lydia’s bonfire party was getting going and Nicola agreed to meet Jimmy there so he could spend some time with Angel. Only after Tom insisted he wasn’t going because he was in too much pain after ‘being attacked’.

Tom went back on his word, though, and went to the event with Amelia. Nicola was not best-pleased to see him, but agreed to ignore it to enjoy the evening with her family. Bob even bought them all a hotdog as a peace offering. He said it was time to move on as it’s what Heath would have wanted.

But things took a turn when the guy was brought out and put on the bonfire and it was a clearly an effigy of Tom. Did he make it himself? We suspect so, but as he threatened the Dingles wanting to know who had done it, one by one they all admitted to being behind it. How very I am Spartacus!

Amelia then went into bat for him, but all that did was rile Tom up even more. Tom turned on her. He told her he hadn’t wanted to come and it was all her idea. She seemed confused as she thought it had been his idea. He accused her of meddling, told her she was chasing after him like a stray dog and was pathetic. Amelia ran off, leaving Tom looking slightly worried he’d gone too far – ya think? Even Jimmy looked uncomfortable with the situation.

Can Tom rectify this and put himself back in control? Or has hitting out in front of a crowd shown the village what they already knew – he is a nasty abuser? Is this finally the beginning of the end for him?

Emmerdale tonight: Ross wound Mack up

Ross wanted to do a firework display for the kids as an olive branch to Mack and suggested they stage it together. But Mack thought it was another dangerous idea and waxed lyrical about being a safety conscious dad.

As he tried to patronise Ross, Ross fought back throwing what happened with Chloe and Reuben in his face. He then insisted he and Charity still had a connection and referenced their heart to heart yesterday.

Mack went to see Charity and asked for the truth about their ‘connection’. Charity confessed Ross had kissed her. As Mack went apoplectic Charity insisted they were solid, but Mack was going to kill Ross apparently. He’s clearly forgetting the last few times Ross has kicked his backside!

Mack later returned home to Charity and told her he believed her. They insisted they were “unbreakable” (which is foreshadowing if ever we heard it) and made up. So how long until Charity’s in bed with Ross then?

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Liam won't get rid of Ella easily (Credit: ITV)

    Ella didn’t make it easy

Ella was moving out and Mandy was helping her. But Ella was adamant she was not leaving the surgery as well as her home. Liam tried to talk her out of it and felt working together might be a bit awkward. Ella did not and said she was taking the job, end of discussion.

Will John take Victoria's advice? (Credit: ITV)

    John brooded

Aaron was feeling glum over Seb and it’s brought up all sorts of memories for him. John overheard him confiding in Victoria and tried to lighten the mood, but Aaron sulked off. Victoria advised her brother to talk about his feelings to Aaron. That’s a new idea, isn’t it?!

But rather than talking, John took the brooding approach, worrying over how deeply involved Aaron and Robert really were – clearly he’s not aware of the Robron hashtag, eh? But will he take Vic’s advice and just ask Aaron about it?

Jade was not letting Ross off (Credit: ITV)

More fight club in Emmerdale tonight

Ross was clearly being followed, but not by Mackenzie, by someone who actually could take him on and frighten him. Jade was waiting with her heavies and they gave him a pasting before hanging him over a bridge. Ross is being made to fight again.

Jade then paid Dawn a visit and they bonded over wine, leaving Billy shocked and furious. He tried to stand up to Jade and even offered to help her out with money. Jade laughed in his face and threatened Dawn and the kids, leaving Billy with little choice but to face Ross in the ring again.

They both insisted this would be the last time and an end to it – and we really pray that it is because we can’t watch much more of it.
