Follow-up: Mary and Suzy’s secret is out! Will it drive Mary to leave the village? All we know

The Emmerdale village now knows about Mary Goskirk and the late Suzy Merton’s kiss. And, the fallout looks set to be huge.

Unlike other soap secrets, this one really didn’t stay a secret for that long at all…

But, as Mary burns bridges with grieving Vanessa, is she set to leave the Dales? Will Vanessa push her out?

Mary and Suzy kiss secret is out in Emmerdale

On the day of the limo crash, Mary visited Suzy and was stunned to find out that Suzy actually had feelings for her.

Mary and Suzy had been avoiding telling each other how they really felt for over a year. But, Suzy couldn’t keep quiet any longer.

She admitted to Mary that she was willing to ditch Vanessa and start a proper relationship with her instead (poor Ness!)

As they kissed (and were caught by Leyla), Suzy was determined to speak to Vanessa and end things with her. But, the limo crash prevented this… Suzy sadly lost her life in the accident meaning that Suzy and Mary’s relationship ended before it really got off the ground. Tragic.

Tonight (Thursday, March 13), after Vanessa read through Suzy’s phone (that miraculously survived the crash) and found out that she was seeing another woman, the truth came out.

Rhona popped round to visit Ness and spotted her mum’s bracelet in the house. Little did she know that she’d just dropped her mum right in it.

Adding two and two together, Ness realised that Mary was Suzy’s ‘other woman’ and had it out with her in the Woolpack. And, oh, she wasn’t afraid to put on a huge show for the punters. She was LIVID. At least Ross enjoyed the free entertainment with his pint even if he was stopped from capturing it on video and going viral online…

Are Mary’s days in the village numbered?

As Vanessa rightly said Mary is her ‘best friend’s mum.’ But, with the truth now out, Rhona might just be forced to take sides.

And if Rhona happens to side with Ness, where would that leave Mary? While nothing’s been officially confirmed about Louise Jameson leaving the soap as Mary, Mary should expect a lot of heated conversations coming her way should she decided to stick around.

Vanessa’s not impressed, but will she force Mary out of the Dales?

  • Emmerdale fan scammed out of thousands believing she was in a relationship with Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley

Emmerdale fan scammed out of thousands believing she was in a relationship with Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley

Emmerdale fans have been conned out of thousands of pounds thanks to scammers posing as stars from the show, including Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley.

An investigation by ITV’s Tonight has revealed that cruel scammers are using increasingly inventive and sophisticated ways to trick unsuspecting people into handing over their cash. Often with the help of AI technology that means they can pose as soap stars.

In an episode that airs tonight (Thursday March 13), ITV’s Alex Beresford reveals the shocking scale of the issue.

It’s estimated that eight million scam videos will be shared this year online but only 1 in 10 adults in Britain feel confident they’d be able to tell the difference between a fake and the real thing.

    Romance scams

One unsuspecting Emmerdale fan fell victim to not one but two romance scams involving tricksters posing as actors from the show.

The daughter of the victim appears in ITV’s Tonight, talking about how traumatic it has been for her family. She wanted to remain anonymous so she’s known as Kirsty in the show.

In 2023 Kirsty’s mum was contacted by someone she thought was the Emmerdale actor Tony Audenshaw (who plays Bob Hope).

And it wasn’t long before Kirsty noticed a big change in her mum’s behaviour.

Tricked by someone posing as Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley

“I drove round to her house and there were some suitcases in the hallway, she told me that she’d fallen in love with somebody, he’s on Emmerdale,” Kirsty explains in the show. “I immediately got suspicious, she said he’s my soul mate, I know him really well.”

Kirsty’s mum was buying gift cards for the scammer, and eventually admitted she’d spent almost £20,000.

“It was £100 to £200 pounds at a time,” Kirsty says. “By December, it was £300 pounds a day. I asked ‘how much have you sent?’ She said ‘I think about 15,000 pounds’. I just gave her a big hug and said ‘it’s not true, you’ve been scammed’.”

    Not giving up

Luckily, Kirsty managed to get some of her mum’s money back. But it was just a year later when she noticed again that her mum was spending a lot of money in a short time.

“I phoned her and the first thing she said was: ‘it’s not a scam, he sent me videos of himself this time’.”

This time, Kirsty’s mum was communicating with a scammer who was posing as Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley. The fraudsters had managed to manipulate a video of Jeff using AI technology, so they could tailor his words and fool Kirsty’s mum.

Kirsty said “Mum felt really humiliated, she’s grieving really, it’s the loss of not just money, it’s the loss of what she thought was a relationship as well.”

There are many fake profiles of Emmerdale stars online. The team at Tonight found 90 profiles posing as Jeff Hordley!

Fake diet pills – and more!

And it’s not just romance scams that are doing the rounds. Another Emmerdale star, Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, is also concerned about fraud. She told Tonight that she has a daily battle to prevent scammers using her image online to sell fake diet pills.

“They start talking under a fake account commenting on the storyline telling someone you’re beautiful, you’re gorgeous. And I’ll step in and say he’s not real! And this is happening more and more, they’re hunting vulnerable women,” says Lisa.

Coronation Street’s Dan Brocklebank agrees. “It’s happened so many times, people set up what they call my personal account or my official account and start to message people, and they’re being conned out of thousands of pounds,” he says.

  • Was Suzy having an affair with another woman? Fans think so – but it wasn’t Mary

Was Suzy having an affair with another woman? Fans think so – but it wasn’t Mary

A new Emmerdale fan theory has emerged suggesting Suzy Merton was having an affair – no, not that one (sorry Mary), but with another other woman. This came as Vanessa opened Suzy’s phone last night (Wednesday, March 12) to discover a series of texts from Leyla.

She was horrified as she read on, learning that Suzy had kissed another woman. And, while Leyla hadn’t deigned to name names, the culprit wasn’t far away. Vanessa shared her discovery with Mary, unaware that she was speaking to the true object of Suzy’s affections – not knowing that Suzy had been planning on ending things so she could be with Mary.

But is there more to Suzy and Mary’s emotional affair? Some think not – and have accused Suzy of having another affair.

Suzy was having a second affair, Emmerdale fans predict

Writing on social media as last night’s episode aired, fans shared their theories about what might happen next. And some wondered if Suzy might have had a third woman on the go.

“Wouldn’t it be a great twist, unlikely, but if Mary WASN’T the other woman and there was someone else. Again unlikely, but given Mary and Suzy were not having an affair like Vanessa has suggested imagine the shock if there was someone else involved,” wrote one fan on X.

“I’m a bit confused about the whole thing cos we never saw this ‘relationship’ between Mary and Suzy. We barely even saw one between Vanessa and Suzy. I know we saw that kiss but other than that, there wasn’t anything so what if the texts were about someone else? If Vanessa thinks Suzy was having a full blown affair it can’t have been with Mary, so maybe she was having an affair with another woman?!” asked another.

    Was Suzy seeing multiple women?

This unlikely theory was quickly debunked by a third fan, who said: “Just because it was only one kiss, no I do not believe Suzy was having another affair yet to be revealed. Some can’t grasp concept of being able to fall in love with someone without sex involved first. Suzy had fallen in love with Mary over time on deeper level.”

Do you think Suzy was playing both Mary and Vanessa?

  • Cain and Steph affair predicted by Emmerdale fans

Cain and Steph affair predicted by Emmerdale fans

Last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Wednesday, March 12) saw Steph Miligan confront Cain over her parents’ lies. Determined to seek answers over her grandfather’s disappearance, Steph went snooping about – and discovered Caleb’s gun.

Covering for himself, Caleb claimed he’d gotten it with the intention of shooting Cain in revenge for his fling with Ruby. However, Steph wasn’t buying it, and stormed over to get Cain’s version of events.

But Cain had been warned, and sang from the same hymn sheet as Caleb and Ruby, calling her dad a ‘coward’ for not being able to go through with shooting him.

As she left, it was clear Steph didn’t believe her uncle either, and she later told Ross that she was planning on going to the police over her granddad’s disappearance.

Some fans, however, were distracted by other thoughts -namely,  the sparks they thought they’d spotted between Steph and Cain.

Emmerdale fans predict Steph and Cain affair

Writing on X as last night’s scenes aired, fans shared their theories as to where Cain and Steph might be headed. And some wondered whether he might cheat on Moira (again) with his niece.

“Steph to sleep with Cain soon?” asked one fan.

“Cain & Steff HAS to happen,” predicted another.

“If Moira walks in she’ll think Cain is going for the daughter mother combo,” joked a third.

An unlikely series of events – but few could have predicted Ruby and Cain either, and look how that one turned out. Could Cain and Steph have an affair?

  • Is Dylan April’s secret twin brother? Emmerdale fans predict huge twist

Is Dylan April’s secret twin brother? Emmerdale fans predict huge twist

A new Emmerdale fan theory has emerged, suggesting that there may be even closer ties to April Windsor and young Dylan than we might have initially thought. With speculation growing as to whether he might have family in the village, some have wondered whether the pair might be related.

This came as Dylan left the village last night (Wednesday, March 12) after a guilt-ridden Marlon agreed to pay for him to go to rehab. Making up with April (who believed Dylan had stolen the ketamine), he headed off to get clean.

But, should he return, some fans have predicted that he might do so with a bombshell up his sleeve. Are Dylan and April related?

Emmerdale fans predict that Dylan and April are brother and sister

Writing on X as last night’s scenes aired, fans shared their theories as to Dylan’s ties to April. With many still convinced that Dylan is a secret Dingle, some took it a step further – suggesting he could be none other than her twin brother.

“Donna had twins and gave the boy to her ex and guess what it’s Dylan – Marlon’s secret son and Aprils twin brother,” wrote one fan.

“I bet Dylan has a photo of himself and April as baby’s before they were separated,” said a second.

“That’s crazy because thy actually do look alike,” another observed.

“I knew it,” said a fourth.

But is there any truth to the rumour?

Dylan the secret Dingle – the fan theory continues

Speculation as to Dylan’s heritage has been rife since he arrived in the village looking for April. And many are convinced that he’s the offspring of none other than April’s uncle, Eli Dingle.

Eli left the soap in 2010, but remains a popular character – currently in the thick of the action in this month’s Classic Emmerdale – and many are holding out hope that his legacy will live on in ‘son’ Dylan.

Marlon’s son, his nephew, or a complete stranger – who do you think Dylan is?

Writing on social media as the episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on Vanessa’s discovery. And some had a very pressing question – would Suzy really have left her phone behind as she embarked on her fateful limo ride?

“How does vanessa even have Suzy’s phone? wouldn’t it have gone down with her in the limo? I would’ve believed if she was reading the texts from a laptop,” pointed out one fan on X.

“Why didn’t Suzy’s phone end up in the lake?” asked another.

“Good question that,” agreed a third.

Schedule changes coming up for the soap ‘power hour’ in 2026

ITV has announced new Emmerdale schedule for 2026 – with the introduction of what is being called a soap ‘power hour’ starting from next January.

Emmerdale will continue to air five nights a week. New episodes will also drop on ITVX every morning at 7am as usual – meaning we don’t have to wait all day if we don’t want to!

However, the soap will move to a new time slot of 8pm. The Thursday double bill will also be cut to half an hour to make way for additional episodes of Coronation Street.

This ensures faster-paced, digestible episodes – a 30-minute format which has already proven popular with viewers.

Steph is going to the police – so will Caleb and Ruby ‘get what’s coming’ in Emmerdale?

Steph Miligan is like a dog with a bone in Emmerdale at the moment as she refuses to believe any explanation over her grandad’s whereabouts. Tonight (Wednesday March 12) she decided to go to the police to get them to investigate her mum and dad.

So, is it all over for the Anthony murder club?

Ruby is onto Caleb and Ruby in Emmerdale
Steph wanted answers and still didn’t get honest ones (Credit: ITV)

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Steph vowed to report her parents

Let’s back up a bit. Steph has been leading a one-woman search party for her grandad, Anthony Fox, since he went missing earlier this year. Viewers know Anthony is dead and buried in the woods. Caleb, Ruby, Aaron, John, Cain, Chas and Moira also know this. But Steph doesn’t and she suspects they all know more than they’re letting on.

To be fair, she’s right, so it’s no wonder she’s not giving up. And after she discovered Caleb’s gun last night (Tuesday March 11) she was sure it had something to do with Anthony’s disappearance (talk about putting two and two together).

Caleb insisted it was to kill Cain with. Steph confirmed the story with her uncle, and fortunately Caleb had got to Cain first and he backed it up.

But stubborn Steph STILL didn’t believe them all. She declared to Ross she was going to report her parents to the police so they could: “get what’s coming”.

    And what is coming, exactly?

Caleb and Ruby look worried on Emmerdale
Caleb is determined to protect Ruby (Credit: ITV)

Do Ruby and Caleb get arrested in Emmerdale?

The pressure is certainly on Caleb and Ruby tomorrow night. Ross hotfoots it to the Depot to warn Caleb what Steph is planning. Caleb goes into full crisis mode determined to stop Steph once and for all.

Actress Georgia Jay has revealed Steph will continue to hunt for the truth. “So I think it’s one of those things where she doesn’t know what else to do, or who she can trust. It’s all closing in on her because she’s thinking who’s involved, who’s lying, who’s not, who’s covering up.”

Steph is going to find out the truth very soon – it’s the only way Ruby and Caleb can stay out of prison. And the truth will shatter Steph completely.

Next week, spoilers reveal Steph and Caleb are on edge at work. It suggests Caleb has not been arrested, but does Steph now know the truth?

And there’s more trouble round the corner when Jai thinks they are not pulling their weight at the Depot. A simple mention of Anthony also makes things uneasy and Jai’s got the bit between his teeth now as he resolves to get to the truth.

Will he find out before Steph? Or will Caleb shut him down too?

Has Dylan left Emmerdale for good? We have answers as the popular newcomer leaves for rehab

Newcomer Dylan left Emmerdale for rehab in Wednesday’s episode, but has he left for good?

We first saw Dylan during the special episode documenting April’s time on the Streets after she run away from home.

We’ve seen him again in recent weeks, but with him heading off for treatment and ordering April not to visit him, will we see him again?

Dylan heads to rehab in Emmerdale

Following their time on the streets, April Windsor reconnected with Dylan and invited him to visit her in Emmerdale.

Last week he turned up, much to the annoyance of April’s dad Marlon Dingle, who, along with Rhona and Ross, felt Dylan would be a bad influence on April.

April insisted that she wouldn’t have survived on the streets if it hadn’t been for Dylan, so Marlon reluctantly let him stay in the house.

However, Marlon was determined to get rid of Dylan, so made the stupid mistake of stealing ketamine from the vets and planting it on Dylan.

When no-one believed his innocence, Dylan left. Sadly, the rejection led to him overdosing and he ended up in hospital.

Marlon felt guilty for his involvement and offered to pay for Dylan to go to a private rehab facility. During Wednesday’s episode, Marlon took Dylan to see April one last time.

Dylan told April where he was going but instructed her that he didn’t want her to visit. “This is goodbye,” he told her. But is it?

Has Dylan left Emmerdale for good?

Since arriving in Emmerdale, Dylan, played by Fred Kettle, has become a popular character with fans.

“I really like Dylan. He has this classic Emmerdale character vibes to him. And so much potential,” wrote one fan on X.

A second fan said: “Oh My GOD, Can we please please please keep Dylan?” With a third fan adding: “Dylan is really such an interesting original and likeable character.”

A fourth fan wrote: “Dylan should be kept permanently in the village, keep him please.”

Well, it seems fans may get their wish as an Emmerdale spokesperson confirmed to Emmerdale Insider that this is not the last we’ve seen of Dylan.

  • New fan theory suggests that former character is back and behind Manpreet blackmail just months after exit

New fan theory suggests that former character is back and behind Manpreet blackmail just months after exit

A new Emmerdale fan theory has ‘worked out’ who is behind the Manpreet blackmail messages – and it’s a familiar face.

Manpreet’s been receiving some alarming texts recently, admitting to Ella that someone is threatening to expose her ‘dirty’ secret.

But, could the person responsible be a former Emmerdale resident? A new theory suggests so.

    Emmerdale: Manpreet’s blackmail ordeal

A flashback to the day of the limo crash recently revealed that Leyla had walked in on Manpreet and found out her huge secret. ‘It’s always the quiet ones…’

After Leyla’s death, Manpreet started receiving blackmail messages threatening to expose her secret. Yes, another soap mystery, surprise, surprise.

Manpreet then confided in Ella that she’d started posting explicit photos of herself online. It helped her feel some level of confidence after her break-up with Charles. We’re not sure Ella’s the best person to trust with a secret like this…

Manpreet feared that if it got out, her whole medical license could be stripped from her (no pun intended.) Hindsight is a wonderful thing, Manpreet.

Now, the blackmailer has downloaded all of Manpreet’s photos despite her deactivating her online profile. If she goes to the police, her secret will get out. Ouch.

    Theory: Wendy blackmailing Manpreet?

In January, Wendy Posner left the village with her head hung low, following the huge betrayal of Ella Forster.

She’d dobbed her whole history into the paper for a fee after first betraying Rhona by sharing her information with a journalist and suggesting that April might’ve gone missing due to her past history.

The truth came out, and Wendy left the village after being ushered out by practically everyone. Manpreet and Liam both couldn’t keep Wendy on following the betrayal, asking her to leave.

They’d initially turned a blind eye to the whole ‘fake nurse’ thing, but it became clear that Wendy couldn’t keep her job at the surgery.

Now though, remembering how Wendy loved to spill everyone’s secrets, a new theory suggests that Wendy could be getting revenge for the loss of her job by blackmailing Manpreet, dragging her down with her.

A fan on X suggested: “Manpreet’s blackmailer could be Wendy.”

But, could we soon see the return of Wendy just months after her departure from the soap?
