Emmerdale: Was Leyla murdered in chaos of limo crash? All the motives and suspects in compelling new fan theory

A new Emmerdale fan theory has emerged, suggesting that Leyla Harding could have been murdered amid the chaos of the limo crash. This comes as the soap revealed that Leyla took a clutch of secrets to the grave – including those of her fellow limo passengers.

As the village gathered for Leyla’s funeral (or at least those who weren’t at Amy’s), three flashbacks played out – showing Leyla as she stumbled across three shocking secrets hidden by Suzy, Manpreet and Tracy.

Could one of those secrets have been the death of Leyla?

Leyla murdered in limo crash, wild new Emmerdale fan theory suggests

Writing on a Reddit thread in the wake of last night’s flashbacks, one viewer laid forth a bold new theory – positing that Leyla had in fact been murdered by one of the three guilty parties (well, maybe not Manpreet, who wasn’t even in the car).

“Maybe Leyla didn’t die as a result of the limo crash, she knew alot of secrets, maybe murder?” this fan suggested.

Leyla was killed as the limousine crashed into an ice-covered lake. Like fellow passenger Suzy, she died of injuries sustained during the initial crash – stabbed with something sharp as it careened from the road.

While she seemed fine in the moments following (unlike Suzy), Leyla passed out before she could escape. Kerry managed to drag her to safety, but she died on the way to hospital.

But was her death as cut-and-dry as it seemed? Or is someone harbouring an even darker secret?

    Tracy?

A recent fan theory has already suggested that Tracy killed ex-Nate – who the soap revealed to be dead and chained up within the lake. And last night’s flashback saw Leyla catch her stealing money from Pollard’s shop.

Ashamed and desperate, Tracy was desperate to keep her secret. But how desperate? Could Tracy have stuck the knife (or another sharp implement) in as the limo crashed?

Vanessa and Suzy in the limo crash
Suzy was the first to die (Credit: ITV)

    Suzy?

Like Leyla, Suzy died of injuries sustained in the crash. Unlike Leyla, she never made it out of the car at all. Dying of a bang to the head as the car crashed, that would seem to rule her out of Leyla’s death.

But might she have stabbed Leyla in the moments before her own death? She too was hiding a secret – she was in love with Mary, and planning to leave Vanessa. But, let’s face it, Vanessa would have found out as soon as Suzy dumped her… so probably not.

And besides, we seriously doubt she’d off her own friend and co-worker, no matter how desperate she might be.

Amy, Kerry, Vanessa and Suzy dressed up for a night out in the limo
Would any of the women really have cause to kill Leyla? (Credit: ITV)

Charity, Chas, Liam, Amy, Kerry or Vanessa?

Also in the car were Charity, Chas, Liam, Amy, Kerry and Vanessa. Given that Charity was driving at the time, that would rule her out – even if she was inadvertently responsible for Leyla’s death.

That leaves Amy and Kerry, Chas and Liam, and Vanessa. Out of everyone, there’s not a particularly strong motive left – not unless the soap is planning on yet another flashback.

    Consider this one debunked… probably.

  • Fans praise Emmerdale for ‘beautiful’ episode as Leyla and Amy are remembered by grieving loved ones

Fans praise Emmerdale for ‘beautiful’ episode as Leyla and Amy are remembered by grieving loved ones

Leyla Harding and Amy Barton were remembered as Emmerdale aired their funerals last night (Thursday, March 6).

Throughout the episode, Leyla provided a voiceover from beyond the grave, narrating her own funeral. She always was the star of her own show, after all.

Amy was also given a lovely tribute, with her floral funeral being held in the woods. Even Chip the Dog came to pay his respects. And fans have now praised the soap for an ’emotional’ yet ‘beautiful’ episode.

Leyla and Amy’s funeral episode in Emmerdale

Last night saw both Leyla and Amy be laid to rest following their deaths in the recent limo crash. Leyla made sure that she was given a send-off fitting for her personality, narrating her own funeral.

Leyla being Leyla, she’d planned her own funeral, despite only being 40 when she died. She’d instructed for six hunks to carry her gold-painted coffin into the church, with her ex-husband Liam giving quite an awkward eulogy to the previous ‘love of his life’ in front on fiancée Chas.

Meanwhile, in the woods, Amy was given a peaceful send-off herself as Matty teared up during his eulogy. However, tensions between Matty and Cain threatened to ruin the tribute.

Near to the end of the episode, it was then revealed through a series of flashbacks that Leyla had actually taken several secrets of other villagers’ to the grave.

She’d caught Tracy stealing money from the shop, before walking in on Suzy and Mary kissing. And just to add another secret to her belt, she’d also caught Manpreet posting something rather saucy online…

Fans praise soap for ‘beautiful’ tribute to Leyla and Amy

After the unique and rather different episode that aired last night, fans have taken to social media to praise the soap for the scenes.

It’s safe to say that they’ve been left rather satisfied by the ‘beautiful’ tribute to the much-loved, late characters.

One fan commented: “So many beautiful moments – Leyla’s funeral is her down to a tee whilst Amy’s was also beautiful – the flashbacks were interesting as well especially Tracy & Manpreet’s ones.”

Another fan agreed: “What a beautiful send off for Amy and Leyla. Both women took plenty of secrets to the grave with them.”

A third viewer added: “Emmerdale sure know how to do an emotional episode like the one tonight.”

Another person shared: “Just caught up on this now, what a great episode, loved it. The way it was done with Leyla’s monologue throughout, and the secrets and lies….well done all.”

A final viewer finished: “What a fantastic episode of Emmerdale today! A mix of sadness, reflection and revelations all with an honest and heartfelt monologue by Leyla. Not a dry eye, I’m sure! Well done to all involved.”

  • Leyla and Suzy’s deaths leave Emmerdale fans fuming all over again as flashbacks air: ‘Should have been done on screen’

Leyla and Suzy’s deaths leave Emmerdale fans fuming all over again as flashbacks air: ‘Should have been done on screen’

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale saw a return to screens for the late Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton in a series of flashbacks. Killed in last month’s horrific limousine crash, Leyla and Suzy have been mourned by those who loved them, including Leyla’s son Jacob and Suzy’s two adoring admirers (one, it became clear, without the other’s knowledge).

And, as the village laid Leyla and Amy Barton to rest tonight, the soap aired three flashbacks to the days leading up to their deaths. One after the other, three bombshells dropped, revealing the secrets Leyla had been party to before she died.

    And what doozies they were!

Emmerdale revealed Suzy, Tracy and Manpreet’s secrets tonight

Tracy, we learned, has been pocketing money from the till Meanwhile, Suzy was planning on leaving Vanessa after declaring her feelings for Mary.

And, in the third revelation, Leyla walked in on Manpreet and caught her looking at risqué images of herself (on a work computer? For shame!). This would explain Manpreet’s blackmail woes, as it appears Leyla isn’t the only one who knows her secret.

Emmerdale flashbacks weren’t enough, fans slam

Writing on social media as the flashbacks aired, fans shared their thoughts on these revelations. And many were left unsatisfied, feeling as though Suzy and Mary’s relationship deserved more than a short flashback.

“Just watched today’s Emmerdale. And gutted all over again at the choice to kill off Leyla & Suzy. The Suzy/Mary relationship should have been explored way back instead of them shoving Suzy with Vanessa and then massively underusing the character!” wrote one fan.

“One short flashback scene is all writers would commit to Mary & Suzy, a human interest storyline that deserved to be beautifully told,” said another.

“Mary and Suzy???? That’s taken me out more than the fact Emmerdale didn’t show this infidelity In real time? What’s the matter with them? They usually love to show it,” said another.

Has the soap wasted an opportunity in its flashback revelations?

  • Mary, Tracy and Manpreet’s secrets ‘exposed’ – everything we know about what comes next

Mary, Tracy and Manpreet’s secrets ‘exposed’ – everything we know about what comes next

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Thursday, March 6) revealed that Tracy, Mary and Manpreet have all been hiding some pretty big secrets from their family and friends. As a series of flashbacks exposed three secrets Leyla had taken to her grave, viewers learned what exactly the three villagers had been hiding.

In the first flashback, Leyla caught Tracy red-handing stealing money from Pollard’s shop. As she confronted her, Tracy admitted that she’d had no child support money from Nate (not surprising, given he’s currently dead at the bottom of a lake) and that she’d stolen £2k worth of takings from Pollard to make ends meet.

Then, in the second, she walked in to find Mary and Suzy kissing. Suzy had just admitted her feelings to Mary, and was planning on dumping Vanessa so that they can be together.

And, in the third, Leyla found Manpreet in front of her computer at work. Seeing what was on the screen, she realised that Manpreet had quite the online presence. And, in the present day, a mystery message showed that someone else knows too…

    But what happens next?

What happens next as the secrets of Mary, Tracy and Manpreet are revealed

While Leyla has taken these secrets to her grave, it’s unlikely that they’ll stay buried for long. And with Mary still pining for lost love Suzy – while also attempting to support Vanessa – how long can she keep quiet about the true nature of their relationship?

Emmerdale spoilers for next week haven’t said whether she continues to keep quiet, but with Suzy’s funeral still to come, she may yet be tested as emotions continue to build.

Meanwhile, with Manpreet receiving threatening messages claiming to know what she’s been up to, she too will have to work to keep her secret hidden.

And, Nate still being very dead, Tracy’s money situation will surely only worsen. And with Leyla now silenced, will she be tempted to continue stealing from Pollard?

It’s Suzy’s funeral and Mary struggles to balance her guilt with her sense of loss. After the funeral, she overhears Vanessa tell Charity what a rock she’s been over the last few weeks.

Listening in, Mary’s guilt only grows. Will she come clean about her feelings for Suzy – and Suzy’s own plans to break up with Vanessa?

  • Did Emmerdale just hint at Pollard’s death? Fears soap legend is next to be killed off after Leyla note

Did Emmerdale just hint at Pollard’s death? Fears soap legend is next to be killed off after Leyla note

Emmerdale could have just hinted at Eric Pollard‘s death after Leyla’s message from the grave.

Back in 2023 Pollard was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He initially pushed his family away, but eventually accepted support.

With his health in decline, could an Emmerdale exit be imminent?

Leyla sends Pollard a message from the grave

Whilst in the midst of a drug addiction years ago, Leyla Harding feared she might die, so she wrote letters and planned her funeral.

Although her death came about as a result of a limo crash rather than drugs, the funeral plans were still used.

It was an especially emotional day for Pollard, who saw Leyla and fellow victim Amy as daughters. He shared with Tracy that he felt guilty for still being alive.

“Incredible, isn’t it? Doddery old fella like me past his threescore and ten, and I’m burying two bright, vibrant young people. I shall never understand this life,” he said.

At the wake, it was revealed that Leyla really had gone to town on the planning and many of the guests received their own fortune cookie containing personalised messages.

Pollard opened his fortune cookie to reveal the message: “See you soon.” He jokingly responded, “cheek!”

Did Emmerdale hint at Pollard’s death?

Viewers know that back in 2023, Pollard was diagnosed with Parkinson’s after experiencing numbness and tingling.

Since then, the story has been revisited on various occasions, with producer Laura Shaw explaining: “The unique position of a show like Emmerdale means we can tell this story really authentically over a long period of time and we can really shine a light on what a diagnosis like this means and follow Pollard on his journey of learning to live with it.”

Scenes towards the end of last year had fans concerned that the end was near for Emmerdale’s longest serving character after there was a shortage in the medication Pollard needed.

He lived to fight another day, but now with Leyla’s message, should we be concerned that Emmerdale is setting us up once again to say goodbye to Eric Pollard?

  • Everything that didn’t make sense about the funerals for the Emmerdale ice stunt victims

Everything that didn’t make sense about the funerals for the Emmerdale ice stunt victims

It’s been a rough few weeks in the village, but the latest Emmerdale funeral news for the limo crash victims is quite strange – even for Emmerdale.

When Leyla, Amy and Suzy all lost their lives in the ice stunt, viewers expected that to be the focus for a while. And for each of them to have the huge funerals that they deserve. But it seems Emmerdale had other ideas.

From missing family members, off-screen funerals and timing arrangements, here is a round-up of every bit of madness surrounding the Emmerdale funerals.

Villagers attend Leyla's funeral in Emmerdale

    Missing characters

When Leyla tragically lost her life, everyone expected David, Alicia or Priya to return to say goodbye to her. Because lets face it, they would not miss her funeral for anything – it doesn’t fit their characters.

However, Jacob revealed to Sarah that none of them are coming, blaming various reasons that they can’t seem to make it back. This revelation outraged viewers, who felt Leyla’s death was being brushed under a rug.

And now, on top of that, Kerry confirmed tonight that Chloe won’t be coming for Amy’s funeral.

Chloe and Amy are sisters, and bonded very closely before Chloe left the village to get away from Mackenzie. But even she would put her differences with him aside to bury her sister – she didn’t even have to bring Reuben along.

Matty upset at Amy's funeral in Emmerdale
Both funerals are on the same day (Credit: ITV) ITV

    Funeral days

In another shocking twist, both Leyla and Amy’s funerals are happening on the same day. And there are quite a few reasons that this is a wild move from Emmerdale.

For starters it immediately doesn’t give them their individual moments. They were two extremely large characters on the show, and by pushing their funerals on one day, the focus is spread too wide. They each deserved their own day to be remembered.

Another reason is that it makes no sense for those who are close with both of them. Their friends have to pick between them, which is a horrible decision for someone to make.

A huge example of this is poor Eric. Leyla was basically family to him, and Amy was like his adoptive daughter. For him to not be able to be at both funerals is a horrible call from Emmerdale. There is no way he would miss either of them, but now he is forced to pick.

    Mary comforts Vanessa in Emmerdale
There is no funeral in the village for Suzy (Credit: ITV)

    Suzy’s off-screen funeral

While Suzy was completely underused in the soap, she was still a part of it. And an off-screen funeral isn’t something she deserved.

However, last week Vanessa confirmed that Suzy’s parents decided they wanted to bury her close to them, away from the village. And Vanessa had no say in any of it – despite being her partner.

She even admitted that inviting Mary along was “pushing it”, which is also a weird decision. Surely Suzy’s family would want anyone who loved her to come and say goodbye, including her Emmerdale friends?

Overall, it feels there is quite a lot wrong with the Emmerdale funerals for three people who deserved something more.

Dylan will be new love interest for Arthur, Emmerdale fan theory predicts

April’s friend from the streets, Dylan, is currently staying in Emmerdale and fans have predicted that he will be a new love interest for Arthur.

April Windsor met Dylan when she run away from home over Christmas, and stayed with him in a derelict house, which doubled up as a squat.

Dylan is now staying with April and her family, but could he settle in the village and find love? Fans think so.

    Dylan in Emmerdale

We first saw Dylan during the special episode last month, which detailed April’s time on the streets. Dylan rescued April from the clutches of a pervert and allowed her to stay with him in a derelict house.

Despite being safely back home for a few weeks now, April has still been struggling to adjust. Earlier this week she went back to the squat to catch up with Dylan.

Dylan was in a bad way, but insisted April go back home to her family. However, April invited Dylan to Emmerdale and the following day he turned up.

After being wrestled to the ground by Ross, who was certain Dylan was on something, April invited him in. She also managed to convince her dad to let him stay for the night.

Yesterday’s episode saw the one night extended to a few after Marlon felt guilty for wrongly accusing Dylan of theft.

But could Dylan’s stay be even more permanent than that?

Dylan and Arthur to get together in Emmerdale?

Arthur Thomas has been fairly absent on screen of late, but fans are predicting that he could have a new story coming up.

One fan wrote on X: “So April is avoiding Arthur… I reckon Arthur forms a crush on Dylan, April gets mad and tells Arthur about the baby and the weird twist about him being the father.”

Another fan suggested Dylan could move into Laurel’s B&B if he needs somewhere to stay, with a third fan questioning: “Is that still standing? A new romance for Arthur then with Dylan?”

Arthur previously had a brief romance with classmate Marshall, who originally struggled to accept his sexuality. Last year, after a long stay in Australia, Arthur went on a date with newcomer Lewis, but it came to nothing. Could Dylan be the start of a new chapter for Arthur in Emmerdale?

Emmerdale spoilers: ITVX early release reveals three huge secrets Leyla took to her grave as she and Suzy ‘return’ for special episode

*Warning: Emmerdale spoilers follow from the Thursday March 6 episode, which is available now on ITVX, but has not yet aired on ITV*

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale revealed three enormous secrets which the late Leyla Harding took to her grave. This came as the village held two funerals – one for Leyla, and one for limo victim Amy Barton.

Amid the grieving families and sniping between Matty and Cain, the soap dropped another bombshell – Leyla had been keeping three secrets very close to her chest. Secrets she’ll now be keeping quiet about forever….

Tracy has been stealing from the shop in Emmerdale spoilers tonight

In the first of three flashbacks, Leyla dropped by Pollard’s shop to pick up an expensive bottle of plonk. But, as she repaired her makeup in the mirror, she inadvertently witnessed Tracy pocketing the money.

Confronting Tracy, she learned just how cash-strapped she was – and that Nate hasn’t been sending her any maintenance money for Frankie. There’s one thing Leyla doesn’t know, of course. Nate is dead, chained up at the bottom of the lake where she met her terrible end.

As they talk, Leyla learned the extent of Tracy’s pilfering – putting her £2000 in debt to Pollard. Back at home, in the present, a guilt-ridden Tracy pored over her purse full of Pollard’s cash. Will she carry on her theft now that Leyla’s out of the picture?

Suzy admitted her love for Mary

In the second flashback, Leyla walked in on a particularly awkward moment between Suzy and Mary – catching them mid-kiss. This came as Suzy admitted that she loved Mary and was going to dump Vanessa for her.

This confirmed the recent fan theory that Mary and Suzy were hiding something from Vanessa, and explains why Mary stole that picture of Suzy from her refrigerator last week.

In the present, a devastated Vanessa told Mary how she’d planned to propose to Suzy. Still hiding their secret (and her feelings for Suzy), Mary told her that Suzy would have definitely accepted.

    Oh, poor naive Vanessa.

In the third, she walked into the surgery to find Manpreet on her computer. She was shocked to see whatever Manpreet was looking at on the screen, exclaiming “was that you?!”

As the episode ended, the mystery of Manpreet’s messages continued to grow, as she read a text claiming to know her little secret. But what did Leyla see on that computer screen exactly? Has Doctor Manpreet opened her own Only Fans?

Is Dylan Eli Dingle’s secret son? Emmerdale fans convinced he has a Dingle connection

Fans of Emmerdale are convinced that newcomer Dylan has a secret connection to one notable local family – with a fan theory emerging that he could be the secret son of Eli Dingle. Has April unwittingly unearthed another Dingle?

This week’s episodes saw Dylan arrive in the village after being summoned by April Windsor. Still feeling bad about pal Becca’s death and thinking she should help Dylan, she paid him a visit – to dad Marlon’s chagrin.

    Dylan’s sticking around

Although they clashed when Marlon attacked Dylan, he saw some sense when the lad visited April the next day. He reluctantly agreed to let Dylan stay, but his suspicions also remained. This came to a head last night, when he accused Dylan of stealing Paddy’s phone.

Thankfully, Dylan managed to clear his name, and Marlon allowed him to stay another night. And, with Dylan seemingly sticking around, fans have started to question what we really know about the youth.

Does he have history with one of the soap’s biggest families?

Dylan is the son of Eli Dingle, Emmerdale fans predict

Writing on social media as this week’s scenes aired, fans shared their thoughts on who Dylan’s family might be. And many have wondered whether his dad could be Marlon’s brother, Eli Dingle.

“Not being funny but dylan COULD pass as eli’s kid…” wrote one fan on X.

“The word on the street is Dylan is the son of Eli Dingle,” said another.

“Interesting theory that Eli is Dylan’s Dad,” a third agreed,

“Be funny if Dylan ended being long lost dingle,” a fourth said.

If true, then this could be a very interesting development indeed – making Dylan Marlon’s nephew, and April’s own cousin. Could Dylan really be a long-lost child of the Dingle clan?

Is Sarah really pregnant in Emmerdale? Heartbreaking baby news sees her go off the rails

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Sarah hid a pregnancy test in her bag. But is she really pregnant? Everything we know about her upcoming storyline.

It’s been a dramatic few weeks for Jacob after Leyla’s heartbreaking death, so naturally a baby would be the last thing on his mind. But when Sarah’s test comes back positive, both of them face their futures.

And spoilers indicate new bad-boy Kammy will influence Sarah’s lifestyle. So is she really pregnant? And what’s coming up for her?

Is Sarah really pregnant in Emmerdale?

When she gets a positive test result, Sarah heads to a doctors appointment with Charity, after struggling to come to terms with the news.

Manpreet suggests that it’s best to double-check the result. And when Sarah does another test, this one comes out negative.

Sarah then begins to face the reality that she isn’t actually pregnant after her false positive, and it breaks both Charity and Manpreet’s hearts watching her struggle.

The thing that upsets Sarah the most is that she feels she missed out on her only chance to have a family, due to her shortened life expectancy. Believing this was her only opportunity, Sarah struggles to come to terms with the news.

And as Jacob has been trying to deal with Leyla’s death, it’s clear that Sarah doesn’t have the support she needed from him.

But soon she will be tempted to the bad side when newbie Kammy arrives in the village. And sets his sights on Sarah.

    Kammy arrives in the village

Shebz Miah has joined the cast of Emmerdale as Kammy, making his first appearance later this month. And he comes in with a bang.

Immediately Kammy steals one of Moira’s quad bikes, and when Ross gets the blame, the Barton is determined to prove his innocence.

But when Kammy meets Sarah, her loyalties are divided between them. With Sarah struggling with the prospect of never having a family, will she defend someone she just met over someone who has been a huge part of her life?

It doesn’t take long for the pair to get close to one another and Sarah may even face some danger alongside Kammy, showing her Dingle side.

Sarah star Katie Hill spoke about Kammy’s entrance and his effect on Sarah. She said: “I can’t wait for the audience to meet Kammy. He is a really fun character, and a great addition to the village. We might even see him and Sarah get up to a bit of mischief together.”

Exactly what the future holds for Sarah and Kammy remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure, after her false positive result, Sarah’s life definitely looks set to spiral.
