‘What have you done?’ Here’s why Cain sleeping with Ruby is the worst decision the soap could’ve made

In Emmerdale, Cain Dingle and Ruby slept together tonight (Wednesday, November 20) in a twist that left us feeling sick to our stomachs as Moira had brain surgery.

Unable to cope as Moira Dingle headed for the operating table, Cain let his rage build up. He then let all of the energy out in… a way we’re sure he’ll live to regret.

Cain cheated on ill Moira with Ruby in Emmerdale tonight

A special episode of Emmerdale aired this evening that saw both of Cain and Moira’s perspectives as Moira had her brain surgery to remove her tumour.

During Moira’s half of the episode, we saw her dream about seeing her late daughter Holly Barton.

Cain’s half of the ep though wasn’t quite as peaceful – eek! He struggled to deal with the possibility that he could lose Moira.

To distract himself, he then did the worst possible thing he could’ve ever done… He slept with Ruby Fox-Miligan. Here’s why we think that Emmerdale has made the worst possible decision ever in this single episode as we ask – “Emmerdale, what have you done?”

    No, just no (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale: Cain and Ruby – A big no no

In Moira’s biggest hour of need, Cain strayed away from home, literally whilst his wife faced a life or death situation.

How low could Cain possibly go? Well, tonight we found out and we’re not sure we’ll ever forgive Cain for this one.

Coira were one of the only couples still going strong in the Dales until now. We all know how much Cain condemned Moira for cheating on him with Nate in the past (it literally destroyed their marriage for a bit) and now… he’s just as bad.

And, not only has Cain cheated but he’s cheated with his half-brother’s wife. So, not only has he just potentially ruined his relationship with Moira, but he’s done the same with Caleb too.

Let’s not even go into how hypocritical Cain was to tear strips into Caleb for cheating with Tracy last year…

Cain and Ruby – ‘The worst decision ever made’

Our jaws were on the floor when we first saw Cain and Ruby getting it on with each other. It was a twist we certainly weren’t expecting.

Whilst the episode was brilliantly done, the whole idea of Cain and Ruby makes us want to gag. It’s just wrong on a hundred different levels. It doesn’t work on paper and it doesn’t work in the ‘reality’ of Soapland either. No, just no.

We can’t even begin to imagine how Moira will feel when the truth come out (and we know the truth ALWAYS comes out in the end in soap.) We expect fireworks and argument after argument. And, we wouldn’t blame Moira for a second.

Cain and Ruby together is something we shouldn’t even be discussing… yet here we are. And, honestly, we reckon it’s the worst decision the soap has ever made. A retcon is needed. Please tell us it was all a dream. Please?!

  • As Cain and Ruby sleep together, furious fans slam move as ‘unnecessary and unrealistic’

As Cain and Ruby sleep together, furious fans slam move as ‘unnecessary and unrealistic’

Emmerdale has aired unthinkable scenes tonight as Cain Dingle slept with sister-in-law Ruby Fox-Miligan while his wife Moira was having brain surgery.

Viewers around the country – and indeed at Emmerdale Insider – gasped in horror at the shocking twist and it’s fair to say they were not happy at all.

    What happened in Emmerdale tonight?

Moira was scared as she waited for the operation to remove her tumour, but Cain was rude and aggressive. Moira sent him away so he didn’t insult all the doctors and nurses while she was under.

He stomped off while Moira was put to sleep and she went into a parallel universe where she was reunited with dead daughter Holly. As Holly tried to persuade Moira to be with her, in the real world, the operation became more complicated.

But not allowing herself to be led off by Holly, Moira chose to stay with her boys, Kyle and Isaac, and survived the operation. Phew!

Meanwhile, we saw what Cain was up to in reverse chronological order. Aside from beating up Jimmy King, he was drinking heavily and not at all coping.

But it was when Ruby arrived at the garage, hiding from her dad, that things got really bad. She and Cain started trading insults then out of nowhere started kissing. There was barely even any sexual tension, it was just anger from both of them.

After sleeping together they both insisted it had never happened and no one could ever find out – which means everyone will find out before too long, this is Emmerdale after all.

Emmerdale fans blast Cain and Ruby cheating decision

So tonight’s episode begs the question: What was Emmerdale thinking? Why on earth would they have Cain do the unthinkable and cheat on Moira when she is so vulnerable?

And just as Ruby is starting to become likeable and have more to her than just her plotting and sharp tongue, she goes and sets herself back. So far back, in fact, she’s almost too far gone.

Fans definitely agree! They felt the soap had hit just the right notes with the first half – and then totally ruined it with the second.

“First half of that episode was brilliant, Natalie is truly phenomenal. The second half of that episode was the biggest [bleep] storm ever to grace our tv screens. Protect Moira at all costs now,” said one on X.

Another addressed the soap directly: “Dear Emmerdale, how can you do something as lovely as the first half of tonight’s episode and then do something as horrible, inexplicable and utterly out of character as in the second? Who thought that was a good idea? Because it wasn’t.”

“I’ve just watched Emmerdale and I legit cannot focus on anything else. What the actual [bleep] have I just watched? What is going on? Who am I? What planet is this?” raged one more.

    ‘Completely unnecessary’ slam fans

A fourth said: “Completely unnecessary and ruined an otherwise brilliant and emotional episode.”

“Have no words for the second half of tonight’s Emmerdale. Well done EDHQ for ruining such an important story with a pathetic plot device!!!!!” added a fifth.

A sixth wrote: “I am genuinely so mad about tonight’s Emmerdale. So unnecessary and unrealistic. Why have they had to do this in what was such a beautiful episode?”

“It’s such a shame because it was an episode of two halves. A lovely first half with a nice twist and then a horrible second half with a twist that didn’t need to happen whatsoever.”

No one is happy – can Emmerdale ever redeem themselves – and Cain after this?

  • Talk about abrupt: Emmerdale fans fume as ITV ‘cuts’ final episode scene short

Talk about abrupt: Emmerdale fans fume as ITV ‘cuts’ final episode scene short

Fans have been left annoyed as the latest Emmerdale episode featured a very abrupt ending. The ITV show appeared to be cut short, leaving many annoyed and curious.

Yesterday’s episode (November 19) featured a lot of Cain and Moira Dingle, as they prepared for her brain surgery.

Throughout the show, Moira kept telling Cain he should prepare for the worst, but in true Cain fashion, he refused to even consider that was an option.

After Moira checked that he knew where her will was in an emotional conversation, Cain stormed out of the house.

His wife went to the one person she knew could get through to Cain; Chas Dingle. She had a similar conversation with her, asking her sister-in-law to look out for her family if anything were to happen to her.

Chas agreed to this request, and the pair shared a teary-eyed hug. But when viewers next saw Cain, things looked a tad suspicious.

Cain was in the garage and it seemed like there was something in the boot of his car. He stood holding the boot open, clearly emotional.

Fans slam abrupt Emmerdale episode ending

But before anyone had a chance to process the scene, the theme tune came on and the credits rolled. Many fans thought the Emmerdale episode had quite a sudden ending.

Taking to social media, one wrote: “That felt like a very sudden ending. Was the episode cut short?”

Another echoed: “Feels like there should have been more to that Emmerdale episode. How come it ended so abruptly?”

“How dare ITV cut Cain’s scene like that…” said one more

Many others agreed that the final scene should have played out longer, questioning why exactly ITV cut it short.

While the scene is still very quick on the ITVX version, it appears to last a tad longer than the live TV version last night. So it seems that it was cut short for an unknown reason.

The episode set up tonight’s beautifully crafted special episode that centres around Moira finally getting her brain surgery.

No stranger to a unique structure, tonight’s Emmerdale follows the day of the procedure – but Cain’s day is told in reverse chronological order.

So the question remains, was Cain hiding something in his boot? Or was he just emotional over Moira’s procedure? And how will he cope when she goes in for surgery?

  • As Moira heads in for brain surgery – is Natalie J Robb leaving Emmerdale? Here’s what we know

As Moira heads in for brain surgery – is Natalie J Robb leaving Emmerdale? Here’s what we know

After months of living with a brain tumour, Moira Dingle is going under the knife to have it removed in tonight’s Emmerdale (Wednesday November 20). And as she prepares for the worst, what does this mean for actress Natalie J Robb’s future on the show? Is she leaving Emmerdale?

Well, Emmerdale has not confirmed or denied an exit for Moira, but Natalie herself has hinted Moira is going nowhere. In an interview with Emmerdale Insider, she said there was “more to come” for her character. And after tonight’s episode (no spoilers here!) we certainly think there is!

Moira has brain surgery in Emmerdale

Moira’s odd behaviour started some months ago. She was either snappy and nasty to everyone or overly affectionate. She also forgot things she said and did – particularly the bad stuff. The farmer even made a pass at Nate Robinson, Cain’s son, which nearly resulted in the end of their marriage.

Moira was then diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumour. At first she adopted the ‘wait and see’ approach – living with the tumour and seeing if it developed and got worse. Cain was not on board with this and insisted she needed to have the op as soon as possible.

With her seizures worsening and her not being allowed to be alone with her kids or work on the farm after she killed her sheep, Moira knew he was right.

She has been practical about it, preparing a living will, visiting her eldest son, Adam, to say goodbye should the worst happen and trying to get Cain to accept she could die. All except the latter have gone well. Cain however, is not facing up to any of it and is brushing it under the table.

Tonight Moira goes in for the operation. The episode will be another format-breaking one for Emmerdale as the first half tells Moira’s story. The second half then tells Cain’s story in reverse chronological order.

So does Moira survive the surgery?

Although we don’t know for definite yet, it looks like Moira will make it through, which means Natalie J Robb is going nowhere.

Speaking to Emmerdale Insider and other media, Natalie recently said: “There’s still some things obviously to come out and I [Moira] still have to go through some treatment afterwards as well. So, we don’t know if everything is going to be hunky dory. But, there could be some slight personality change. It could be that she just deals with things differently because she’s been faced with such an ordeal.”

Ordeal or not, we’re just glad that Moira pulls through and Nat not leaving. Now as for Coira, that’s a whole other story…

  • Steph is not Caleb’s daughter, fans predict as they speculate Ruby was abused by her father

Steph is not Caleb’s daughter, fans predict as they speculate Ruby was abused by her father

A new fan theory predicts Ruby Miligan in Emmerdale may have been abused by her father, Anthony. And viewers are now questioning if Steph is really Caleb Miligan‘s daughter at all.

Emmerdale has been getting some new additions recently as Ruby’s dad Anthony, and her daughter, Steph Miligan, have arrived in the village.

Ruby’s family life seems to be nothing but drama. Steph revealed she didn’t want a relationship with her parents, and instead only wanted her inheritance from Ruby’s dead mum.

But in last night’s episode of Emmerdale (November 19), Steph tricked her mum into meeting with Anthony, by pretending she wanted to chat.

It was immediately clear there is a lot of history between Ruby and Anthony, but could it be something more sinister?

Emmerdale: Ruby has ‘sinister’ past with Anthony, fans predict

Viewers found out Ruby’s parents wanted her to have a termination instead of going through with her pregnancy. But after her reaction to him being back in the village, many think there is something else going on.

Ruby had a very extreme reaction to seeing Anthony again, making it clear she will never forgive him. Then when Caleb gave her the box which Anthony had tried to earlier that day, she got angry at her husband.

Taking to social media after last night’s episode, fans speculated.

One wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Ruby despises her dad, but why? Is there something far more sinister? He’s creepy?”

Another penned: “Are they going to do a Ruby’s daughter is also her sister type of storyline and that’s really why she hates her dad so much?”

Emmerdale Ruby argues with her father when he arrives in the village (Credit: ITV)

“No way is that the reaction of someone who was told to leave home because they got pregnant. That seems to be the reaction of someone who’s been abused. Is he Steph’s dad, not grandad?”

If the fan theory is true then it makes sense why Ruby reacted in that way towards her father. And if so, will she ever open up to Caleb?

  • As Ross flirts with Steph, are all hopes of a Charity and Ross reunion crushed?

As Ross flirts with Steph, are all hopes of a Charity and Ross reunion crushed?

Recent Emmerdale scenes saw Ross Barton getting close to newcomer Steph Miligan. Does this mean a Ross and Charity reunion is off the cards?

Ross only returned to the Dales himself last month, but has already made his mark. He kissed former flame Charity Dingle and made an enemy of Mack in the process.

But as Ross flirts with Steph, does that mean a reunion with Charity is completely off the table?

What will happen between Ross and Steph? (Credit: ITV)

    Ross’s history with Charity

The history between Ross and Charity is pretty messy. The pair enjoyed a couple of one night stands before Ross then started an affair with her daughter Debbie Dingle – who was engaged to his brother Pete. Keeping up?

Charity was sentenced to two years in prison for perverting the course of justice. While in jail, she gave birth to son Moses. She refused to say who the father was, but when Moses became sick, it was revealed that Ross was Moses’ father.

Upon her release, Charity tried to sell Moses to Ross’s parents – Emma and James, and Moses ended up living with them and Ross.

Charity and Ross continued to scheme together and shared another kiss, but she was in love with Cain. Following the acid attack, Ross turned to cocaine and ultimately left the Dales with girlfriend Rebecca to sort himself out.

Ross’s return and kiss with Charity

Ross returned as part of Billy’s illegal boxing storyline and was revealed to be Billy’s opponent. However, Charity had stern words with Ross and convinced him to stop the fighting and focus on their son.

When Ross told her he’d cancelled a rematch, Charity remarked that she liked “the new, mature Ross”. They later spent some time alone together and Ross was on full flirt alert.

After telling Charity he wanted to live with her and Moses he moved in for a kiss. Charity pushed him away and insisted she loved Mack. But the spark was there for all to see.

Ross told Charity: “I know you want me.” And it certainly looked that way to us. But with Steph now on the scene, are all hopes of a Charity and Ross reunion crushed?

Charity pushed Ross away when he kissed her, but it was clear she was tempted (Credit: ITV)

Will Charity and Ross reunite in Emmerdale?

Despite not knowing each others’ names – and not wanting to – Steph and Ross went back to the B&B together.

However, Steph soon finds herself in the middle of Jai and Ross’s plot to steal from her dad. Will this put paid to a romance between Steph and Ross or bring them closer together?

Whatever happens, the chemistry between Charity and Ross will always be off the charts, so it’s fair to say a reunion between the pair is never off the table.

Michael Parr, who plays Ross, previously teased in an interview with The Sun: “You really can’t hate somebody who’s doing a great job of raising your most beloved possession.

“But it’s Ross, and it’s Charity. There’s always going to be fireworks.”

Not to mention, despite Mack’s recent redemption arc – he did still cheat on Charity and had a baby with someone else. Ross might not be The One for Charity, but he could be The One to show her she deserves better than Mack. We’re here for it.

Fans baffled by huge Tom King U-turn – and honestly, we are too

During Monday’s episode of Emmerdale, we were all baffled when Tom King appeared in his vets overalls.

Having previously been suspended from work, it seems a massive U-turn has taken place as Tom is back in his old job – and fans can’t believe it.

Just why did Tom lose his job and how has he got it back?

    Tom suspended from the vets

Back in September, following Belle’s allegations of abuse, Vanessa and Rhona chose to sack Tom from the vets surgery.

The allegations are true of course, but Tom continues to insist he is innocent. Though the number of people who believe in him is getting smaller by the day.

Tom at first threatened to take the vets to court for unfair dismissal. More recently, he has taken to threatening Paddy.

Demanding his job back, Tom said he would no longer be victimised (yes, he really had the cheek to say this). He threatened to expose the vets wrongdoings, such as cutting corners and letting the Dingles off with their bills.

    He blackmailed Paddy (Credit: ITV)

    What happened in Emmerdale?

In Monday’s episode of Emmerdale (November 18), Cain Dingle asked Mack to call Paddy at the vets and get him to come and look at Moira‘s prize bull.

It was Tom who turned up – proof that Tom’s blackmail had worked its magic on Paddy. Cain was incensed – who can blame him after what Tom put Belle through?

Cain promptly told Tom: “You’re not going anywhere near my cattle.” But a smug Tom pointed out that their insurance wouldn’t be valid if they turned down medical care.

Not wanting any harm to come to Moira’s bull, Cain reluctantly agreed to let Tom do his job. But fans and us alike were all baffled that Tom had a job at all.

    Fans baffled at Tom U-turn

Taking to X, viewers couldn’t believe that Tom had managed to get his job at the vets surgery back.

“Can’t believe Tom is back working at the vets,” one viewer said, while another fan wrote: “Tom’s got the Emmerdale bumpkins dancing to his tune.”

Another viewer wrote: “Has Paddy seriously given in and given Tom his job back? Wonder what Vanessa has to say about that?”

A fourth viewer asked: “Paddy took Tom back, I mean, what leverage has he got?”

On Cain’s reaction to seeing Tom, another fan quipped: “Tom as welcome as an outbreak of foot and mouth.”

  • Moira returns and fans are baffled over her new blonde highlights ahead of brain op

Moira returns and fans are baffled over her new blonde highlights ahead of brain op

During Monday’s episode of Emmerdale, Moira Dingle arrived home following a break away, but fans were distracted by her hair.

Moira left the village temporarily at the end of October with son Matty to visit her other son Adam.

With the date of her brain tumour operation fast approaching, Moira returned home – with a brand new hair-do.

Moira is having brain surgery (Credit: ITV)

    What happened to Moira?

Over the summer, Moira suffered symptoms such as confusion, memory loss and seizures. She was eventually diagnosed with a type of brain tumour called a meningioma.

Although she was told it was non-cancerous, she will be having surgery to remove it. In recent weeks, Moira has been preparing for the worst case scenario should the surgery not go as planned.

Cain quipped that her reason for having to go and see Adam was that she needed to do a “farewell tour”. Moira also prepared a living will, which means her husband Cain Dingle won’t have to make any life-or-death decisions for her, should her surgery go wrong.

Emmerdale has even planned a special episode which will follow Moira’s brain surgery as Cain anxiously waits for news.

However, through all this turmoil, Moira still thought to take a trip to the salon – and fans are wondering what is the point?

Her new hair-so has baffled viewers (Credit: ITV)

    Moira’s new hair-do

Fans have taken to X to express their confusion over Moira’s new blonde highlights.

Why has Moira had her hair highlighted two days before brain surgery?” asked one fan, with another writing: “So Moira has a brain tumour but she’s come back looking tanned, hair done and on top of the world. Also she walked in on her own? The last time she was in it she couldn’t be left alone.”

A third fan added: “Like Moira‘s highlights. Bit of a waste when they shave all her hair off to operate on her tumour.” A fourth fan echoed this, writing: “Moira… new blonde highlights two days before a brain operation. Right…”

“Where has Moira been?! The Sahara??! That’s some suntan & glow up!” joked another viewer.

But perhaps, if you’re about to have life-threatening surgery, a spot of pampering is just what the doctor ordered?

  • Steph’s ‘posh’ accent leaves Emmerdale fans baffled after Nicky’s Geordie drawl

Steph’s ‘posh’ accent leaves Emmerdale fans baffled after Nicky’s Geordie drawl

In Emmerdale last week, Caleb Miligan and Ruby Fox-Miligan’s estranged daughter Steph arrived, but fans are baffled over her accent.

Steph’s brother Nicky arrived in the village two years ago, before leaving earlier this year. While Nicky had a Geordie accent, Steph sounds quite posh.

Fans have questioned the casting and wondered if the two grew up separately.

Steph had a reunion with her parents (Credit: ITV)

    Who is Steph in Emmerdale?

Steph Miligan arrived in Emmerdale during Friday’s episode. During her so far short time in the village, a lot has been revealed about her relationship with her parents.

When she was 14, Ruby and Caleb decided she was out of control and she was sent to boarding school. Steph has had a tricky relationship with her parents, especially her mum, since.

Steph believes her mum abandoned her when she needed her the most and accused her of being cold towards her and of loving Nicky more.

But one thing fans noticed immediately about Steph was that she didn’t sound anything like any of her family. Caleb is Mancunian and Ruby is Southern. Meanwhile, Nicky, who left the village in the summer with boyfriend Suni, had a Geordie accent – we have no idea where he got that from. And now, to add to the mystery, Steph has come along sounding super posh.

To make things even more confusing, Ruby’s mum was a Liverpudlian!

Fans baffled over Steph Miligan’s accent in Emmerdale

Taking to X, viewers were quick to question why Steph sounded so posh. “Steph is rather attractive and rather posh whilst her brother’s a Geordie how the hell does that work out?” asked one fan.

With another fan adding: “Steph arrives and talks posh, yet her brother Nicky spoke Geordie, they must not have been raised together.”

A third viewer said: “I take it Steph grew up in a posh boarding school as she sounds [bleep] all like her brother. Or maybe Nicky was brought up in Northeast on the mean streets of the Jesmond area of Newcastle?” Another fan asked: “Why did Nicky have a Newcastle accent and Caleb, Ruby and Steph haven’t?”

Over on Reddit, one fan had this theory: “It would make more sense for her to be Geordie, but I know that’s very difficult to imitate. She could be quite a bit older than Nicky. It’s possible she was raised in the south and kept her accent when they moved to Newcastle.” With the posh accent presumably developing after she was sent away to boarding school.

We’re sure as time goes on, more will be revealed about the new mystery Miligan.

Emmerdale star James Chase reveals all about Tom King’s comeuppance: ‘His mask has slipped, but there’s more to come’

Emmerdale star James Chase has spilled the beans about what happens as Tom King’s campaign of control against wife Belle Dingle comes to an end after months of abuse.

Nicola is convinced that the Dingles are right about Tom, and the rest of the village have turned against him, meaning Tom’s only allies are girlfriend Amelia and uncle Jimmy.

But even those loyal supporters are about to wonder if  Tom’s really as nice as he’s pretending to be!

We sat down for a chat with Emmerdale star James, who plays evil Tom, to find out what happens as his alter ego’s nice-guy persona begins to crumble.

    Persuading Nicola

With Nicola not budging, Tom’s determined to make her see that he’s an ‘innocent victim’ despite him being guilty of everything Belle’s accused him of!

So how is he going to talk Nicola into believing him? Well, he ropes Amelia in to help him!

“I think Tom is definitely pressured when he is trying to convince Nicola that he is genuine about everything that he is saying,” James tells us.

” I think in a weird way Tom does thrive under pressure and he enjoys it – as he gets an energy from it and feels quite invigorated and proud of himself when he does succeed in talking himself out of these scenarios.”

Tom plans to move away in Emmerdale

But despite Tom loving the drama, things don’t go well and Nicola is far too savvy to be convinced by his attempt to win her over with Amelia’s help.

And we know Tom doesn’t like it when things don’t go his way! So how does he react?

“I think Tom is surprised at first that he hasn’t managed to win her over because he has succeeded every other time and with every other person he has tried to convince before,” reveals James. “But I think he’s very quick to then move onto the next thing. Thinking how do I move on to a scenario where I am going to win?”

Tom’s next move is to suggest to Amelia they they move away together. What’s the plan there?

“It’s partly because he is hated in the village!” admits James. “But also it’s like when he went away to Wales with Belle, it was a way for him to fully control her and to have her to himself. Essentially the less people around that Amelia knows, the more she is going to have to rely on him and I think he quite enjoys that.”

Tom King [JAMES CHASE] slips in through the back door. Creeping around unnoticed, Tom discreetly steals one of Belle's tops before leaving.

Tom messes with Belle’s head in Emmerdale

With the walls closing in, Tom steps up his scheme to mess with Belle’s head. He steals one of her tops and gives it to Amelia. Creepy!

“It’s all about getting her in the worst state possible so he can selfishly benefit,” explains James. “He knows he’s grinding her down when he knows she’s seen Amelia in her clothes.”

And that’s when things fall apart! Belle tells Amelia that the jumper is hers, and Amelia asks questions.

“Tom is really cross,” says James.  “He berates Amelia immediately. His mask has slipped! He drags Amelia out into the street.”

    The mask is slipping!

But Jimmy’s there and he sees what Tom’s up to!  And with perfect timing, it’s when the police arrive, too, to question Tom.

He’s taken in for questioning by DS Foy. How does that go?

“He tries to keep his cards close to his chest because at the end of the day unless it’s actual evidence they have, Tom is going to deny it – as it’s in his interest to do that. In the interview room he attempts to manipulate the situation and tries to show to DS Foy he is actually the victim. Tom is doing that as much as possible to try and look innocent.”

And meanwhile, Jimmy is reeling from seeing Tom dragging Amelia out of the house. So will he realise Tom’s been lying?

“It’s only a matter of time,” says James. “I think Jimmy will have to start reading the writing on the wall at some point. Of course his uncle Jimmy doesn’t want to believe that Tom is a bad man but eventually Tom fears Jimmy will realise the truth.”

But despite all this, Tom still thinks he can get away with it even though the police are onto him!

“He has a sort of God complex,” says James. “Tom is cunning, conniving and clever – and I would kind of compare him to Littlefinger from Game of Thrones. He’s good at manipulation. He’s good at turning people on each other for his own benefit. He enjoys playing people and playing scenarios. He has no empathy or morality.”

Tom plays the victim in Emmerdale

“There are things that have happened like the axe going in Tom’s back and of course he has eye witnesses of people who saw Belle pushing him over,” James reveals. “He thinks he’s got a lot of ammunition against her. He wants to win and believes he still can.”

It’s no secret that this storyline is coming to an end, and James will be saying goodbye to Emmerdale.

So how has the experience been?

“I feel very proud of the people I’ve worked with,” says James. “The scenes with the burning of the guy – and then squaring up to the Dingles was a lot of fun. It’s been a lot of fun working with Daisy (Campbell, who plays Amelia). It has been an amazing storyline, it has been intense – a real rollercoaster of emotions but it’s been amazing. I’m really proud of what we have done. Eden Taylor-Draper (AKA Belle) has been totally amazing. There is more to come!
