  • As Chas gives Caleb some valuable advice on affairs, let’s take a moment to remember Al

As Chas gives Caleb some valuable advice on affairs, let’s take a moment to remember Al

Emmerdale tonight (Monday, November 18) saw Chas Dingle and half-brother Caleb Miligan having a heart-to-heart. As Caleb spoke about cheating, Chas made reference to Al Chapman.

As Caleb opened up about daughter Steph, he revealed that Steph’s bad behaviour when she was younger was down to him. He admitted that she’d caught him with another woman.

Caleb shared that he and this other woman had been colleagues. They were getting up to no good while working late together when Steph popped in. Chas then quipped: “Rule one of an affair, don’t get clumsy.”

Back in 2022, Chas famously had an affair with Al Chapman while she was still married to Paddy and Al was dating Kerry Wyatt. The affair was gradually discovered by numerous people, so perhaps Chas should have taken her own advice.

As the subject of Al comes up, we take a look back at his time in the Dales and his relationship with Chas.

Who was Al Chapman in Emmerdale?

Al was a bit of a conman, but that didn’t stop him having a lot of luck with the ladies. Arriving in Emmerdale in 2019 to see son Ellis, Al managed to seduce ex wife Jessie and the pair slept together, resulting in the end of her marriage to Marlon.

Al soon found himself involved in the murder of Graham Foster. Kim Tate offered him money to kill Graham. Someone got there first, but Al pretended he’d done it anyway in order to get the money.

He then started a relationship with Priya, but that came to an end when Debbie Dingle revealed that she’d been having an affair with Al.

Al of course also became sworn enemies with Cain Dingle – which is never a position you want to find yourself in, and it meant Al and the other Dingles clashed constantly.

    Emmerdale: Al’s relationship with Chas

Originally, Al tried to seduce Chas as a way to get control over her pub. When Chas’s brother Cain found out about Al’s schemes, he kidnapped Al and threatened him. As you do.

The tension over the pub eventually spilled into passion. After comforting Chas over her mum Faith’s illness, the pair shared a kiss and an affair started between the pair, despite them both having other partners.

Chas even missed her mother’s final moments as she was away at a hotel with Al.

Despite Chas’s recent advice to Caleb to not be clumsy, Al and Chas were not careful and numerous people found out about the affair before Belle revealed all to Chas’s husband Paddy.

    What happened to Al?

Given Al’s earlier affair with Cain’s daughter Debbie and Al’s intention to try take the pub from the Dingles, learning that Al was the reason Chas missed their mum’s final moments pushed Cain somewhat over the edge.

Cain grabbed a shotgun and lured Al to the barn. It looked as if he might shoot Al dead, but instead the two ended up fighting.

Cain’s young son Kyle wandered into the barn and upon seeing the fight, he panicked. He picked up the shotgun and aimed it at Al. Al then reached to grab the gun, but Kyle pulled the trigger and Al died from the impact.

Cain took the blame originally, before Kyle confessed to the crime. However, all charges were later dropped as Al’s death was ruled an accident.

Emmerdale stars who’ve appeared on I’m A Celebrity: From Lucy Pargeter to Danny Miller

Emmerdale actors, past and present, have swapped village life for the Aussie jungle as contestants of I’m A Celebrity.

The iconic ITV show has been on air for over two decades and seen hundreds of well-known names take part, including eight Emmerdale stars.

These plucky lot have faced their fears and taken part in terrifying Bushtucker Trials.

But how did they all get on? What were their memorable moments? And who went all the way to claim the crown?

    Chris Bisson

Chris Bisson, aka Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma, appeared in the second series of the jungle, way back in April 2003. His campmates included former footballer John Fashanu, dancer Wayne Sleep and eventual winner, cricketer Phil Tufnell.

On day one, Chris received medical attention after he banged his head while trying to help kill a spider. The actor was second to be eliminated and finished in eighth place.

In his exit interview with Ant and Dec, Chris admitted he’d found the experience tough. He also confessed it had been a struggle to go without his normal morning cup of tea.

    Sheree Murphy

Sheree Murphy, aka Tricia Dingle, faced some of her greatest phobias when she competed in the fifth series of I’m A Celebrity. She also delighted audiences by discussing her husband Harry Kewell’s peachy bum on national TV!

Going into the jungle in November 2005, the actress admitted she was terrified of creepy crawlies. The public forced Sheree to face her fears by voting her to take part in a live Bushtucker Trial. During the ordeal, dubbed Rocky Horror, Sheree dealt with snakes, eels and green ants amongst others.

Sheree’s bravery won her the hearts of millions, who voted her the series runner-up, behind winner Carol Thatcher. Sheree went on to present an ITV spin-off series for I’m A Celeb with Phillip Schofield in 2006.

    Malandra Burrows

Emmerdale icon Malandra Burrows, who played Kathy Glover, was a late addition to the 2006 I’m A Celebrity gang. She made a very dramatic entrance on day seven, hanging from a tightrope. Fellow contestants Matt Willis and Lauren Booth came to Malandra’s rescue and took her back to camp.

Her first night was also one to remember, when Malandra fell out of the hammock she was sleeping in. Malandra competed in several Bushtucker Trials – her most memorable one being Skyscraper. The trial required Malandra and fellow contestant Myleene Klass to clamber on a 200ft high seesaw platform and collect flags.

Having been in the bottom two a couple of times, Malandra became the sixth celebrity to be evicted.

Malandra was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and credited her jungle experience for helping her through the difficult days.

    Gemma Atkinson

Future Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson took part in the seventh series of I’m A Celebrity, eight years before she joined the soap as Carly Hope. Already a household name due to her role in Hollyoaks, Gemma charmed the nation with her down-to-earth attitude.

But despite being a real team player, she was only voted in to do two Bushtucker Trials over 18 days. Gemma finished up in a very respectable fifth place, behind supermodel Janice Dickinson and eventual winner, Christopher Biggins.

    Lorraine Chase

Series 11 welcomed Emmerdale actress Lorraine Chase, aka Stephanie Stokes, as one of its contestants. The series was best remembered for the bromance between McFly’s Dougie Poynter and Towie’s Mark Wright, but also Lorraine’s teddy. The star chose her beloved bear, Tedwood, as her luxury item. However, drama ensued when fellow campmate Pat Sharp threatened to kidnap and burn the toy! Poor Lorraine was left in floods of tears, and thankfully Tedwood was unharmed.

Lorraine was the fourth celebrity to get eliminated, finishing in ninth place overall.

    Lucy Pargeter

Lucy Pargeter really threw herself into jungle life when she took part in the 2013 series. The Emmerdale legend, who plays Chas Dingle, quickly established herself as a strong team player and smashed a series of gruesome trials.

Lucy also infamously clashed with fellow contestant, Amy Willerton. The soap actress felt the beauty queen didn’t always pull her weight in camp, and made her feelings known. Lucy’s straight-talking made for great telly, and viewers kept her in right until the final. She finished in a very respectable third.

    Adam Thomas

Adam Thomas, who played Adam Barton in Emmerdale, was in the I’m A Celeb class of 2016. Remembered as the year where all the campmates just really loved one another. Adam was the series’ self-proclaimed Mr Bushtucker Trial, after taking part in a whopping 11. These included Game of Thrones: Gates to Hell and the rather revolting Pick ‘n’ Critz.

Adam lasted 22 days in camp and made it all the way to the final. He finished in third place, after comedian Joel Dommett and winner, Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt. The following year, Adam was invited back to Oz as the new co-host of spin-off show I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp. Sadly the series got axed the following year.

    Danny Miller

Who could forget the moment when Danny Miller was crowned King of the Castle in 2021? I’m A Celebrity had been forced to relocate Gwrych Castle because of Covid travel restrictions. Danny had recently left his job at Emmerdale playing Aaron Dingle and become a new dad.

The actor openly admitted his decision to go on IAC was to provide a future for his son. On December 12, Danny was declared the winner, triumphing over Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson. He went on to reprise his role on Emmerdale, coming back as part of the soap’s 50th anniversary celebrations. He then came back for a permanent return in October 2023.

The most memorable Emmerdale weddings: heartbreak, murder, death and destruction!

Weddings in Emmerdale are never boring, that’s for sure! From committing bigamy, death on the big day and being jilted at the altar, there’s always plenty of drama.

And that’s only the beginning! Here’s some of the best and most memorable Emmerdale weddings.

Kerry never married Dan (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    Kerry and Dan’s bigamous wedding

When Kerry and Dan tied the knot, everyone was delighted – except Kerry’s other husband that is! Kev showed up at the reception and announced he was Kerry’s husband, baffling the wedding guests, the groom AND the bride in equal measures! It turned out, he and Kerry had tied the knot in Las Vegas.

Kerry hadn’t believed their marriage was genuine and had forgotten all about it. A punch up ensued, obvs, but Kerry and Dan eventually reconciled – they never made it down the aisle properly though.

    Dawn and Billy’s murderous chauffeur

If you’re looking for dramatic wedding days, then look no further than Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher’s big day.

Serial killer Meena Jutla was on the run when she returned to Emmerdale on ex-boyfriend Billy’s wedding day. She posed as the wedding chauffeur, kidnapped Dawn and Billy and held them at gunpoint on the viaduct.

Evil Meena claimed she’d hurt Dawn’s surrogate mum, Harriet, as well as her little boy, Lucas. Meena fled, shooting Leyla as she went. Harriet and Lucas were fine, and Meena eventually went to jail for her crimes.

As the wedding begins, Luke makes his vows but Tina stuns the congregation by saying she won't marry Luke.

Tina’s revenge on Luke in Emmerdale weddings

In 1994, Ben Dingle had a fight with Luke McAllister. Ben died, though it was later discovered that he had an undiagnosed heart condition.

With the families at war, everyone was surprised when Ben’s sister Tina got together with Luke a year later. She announced her pregnancy and the pair planned their wedding. Luke gave up his A levels, Tina spent all his money and encouraged him to sell family heirlooms.

As the Dingles came round to the relationship, the wedding day loomed. And on the big day, Tina announced she wasn’t actually pregnant and she wasn’t going to marry Luke – it had all been revenge for Ben’s death!

Luke eventually died in an accident, after Tina rejected him, and wracked with guilt, Tina left Emmerdale.

Tina’s wedding day was also the arrival of Tina’s cousin, Mandy Dingle!

Carl didn't suspect a thing at his wedding to Chas (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

Chas jilts Carl at the altar

Perhaps she was inspired by her cousin’s revenge plan because 15 years later, Chas Dingle took very similar revenge on Carl King. He’d cheated on her with Eve Jenson and Chas knew everything.

So she told her fiancé she was pregnant, planned a lavish wedding and when Carl coughed up for the arrangements, Chas pocketed the money. She jilted her cheating man at the altar, but their story wouldn’t end until Carl’s death two years later.

Liv confronted Paul on his wedding day

Emmerdale weddings: Mandy and Paul’s big, explosive day

The viewers knew that Paul Ashdale was a nasty piece of work, but bride to be Mandy Dingle was oblivious. When brave Liv Flaherty went to confront abusive Paul at the wedding venue, there was a shock in store. Jimmy King accidentally drove a haulage truck into the barn, and Paul was pinned under debris, and Liv refused to help. As she walked away, the barn exploded and Paul was killed.

    Betty and Seth’s non-wedding

Seth Armstrong and Betty Eagleton had been sweethearts in the past and rekindled their romance after 50 years in 1994.

They decided there was no point in getting married after so long but instead they just had the party in 1940s costumes, with the whole village turning out to wish them well.

Emily and Butch’s tragic deathbed wedding

Cute couple Emily Wylie and Butch Dingle were planning a wedding when tragedy struck. When the brakes failed on a minibus run by Tate Transport, the bus ploughed into a haulage lorry. Butch Dingle was so badly injured in the crash and doctors told him the sad news that they couldn’t save his life. He and Emily said their wedding vows on his deathbed. Sob!

Butch’s big Dingle funeral introduced the characters of Cain, Charity and Shadrach.

    Carlos and Nicola’s bouquet battle

Nicola Blackstock came to Emmerdale to track down her long-lost sister Bernice. It wasn’t long before she’d fallen head over heels for chef Carlos, fallen pregnant, and they got engaged. Except Nicola’s pregnancy was made up, and Bernice was also sleeping with Carlos.

When Bernice found out the truth about the pregnancy, on Nicola’s wedding day, she wanted Nicola to fess up. But when her own secret romance with the groom was revealed, things got physical. Nicola and Bernice had a tussle in the churchyard, and the bride beat up the groom with her bouquet.

Matthew and Anna’s car crash of a day

Matthew King was tying the knot with Anna De Souza despite him watching her dad die in front of her. When his brother Carl revealed the truth, Anna fled. The brothers brawled and Matthew tried to run Carl over. When Anna appeared, he swerved, and crashed into the gatepost. He was thrown through the windscreen and died in Anna’s arms.

    Jo and Andy’s prison ceremony

Talk about toxic – Jo Stiles lied and manipulated her way into a relationship with Andy Sugden. The pair had a prison wedding – just like every girl dreams of – because Andy was banged up.

Things got very dark after his release, when he began abusing Jo and even put her in hospital with broken bones. He told the village she had abused him and when everyone believed him, she left Emmerdale forever.

    Emmerdale: Robron’s long awaited wedding

After a lot of drama along the way, fan faves Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle – Robron – tied the knot in 2017. It was the day after the birth and death of Aaron’s baby sister, Grace, but mum Chas urged him to go ahead. Finally the pair made it official in the pagoda in the village.

Debbie was rescued by groom Pete and her dad Cain
Debbie’s wedding to Pete ended in death and destruction (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

Debbie’s lies bring her wedding day crashing down in Emmerdale

We’ve saved the most dramatic wedding until last! When Debbie Dingle and Pete Barton got engaged they planned a gorgeous country-fair themed wedding. Except Debbie was having a steamy affair with Pete’s brother Ross and all was about to be revealed!

At the reception, a recording of Debbie and Ross admitting to their affair was played to the stunned guests. But that was just the beginning of the drama. At the haulage yard, Chrissie White was confronting cheating husband Robert about his behaviour. She set fire to his car in revenge, and some nearby cans of propane exploded. One of the gas canisters shot into the air, and hit an approaching helicopter. Despite the pilot’s best efforts the chopper plummeted into the village hall.

Ruby Haswell died, Cain rescued son Kyle in the nick of time, and Val Pollard, trapped in the mirror maze with sister Diane Sugden, told rescuers to save her sister first. But Val’s selflessness came at a price as she was impaled by a shard of broken glass.

Bride Debbie was injured and taken away to hospital while Pete and Ross fought seemingly to the death. Pete thought he’d killed his brother, and buried him in a shallow grave, only for Ross to show up again a few weeks later.

Definitely the most dramatic wedding Emmerdale has seen – so far!

  • As Tom threatens Paddy, when is he leaving? Everything we know about Tom King’s exit and exactly when justice will be served

As Tom threatens Paddy, when is he leaving? Everything we know about Tom King’s exit and exactly when justice will be served

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Tom sets his sights on a different target – picking on Paddy in an attempt to get his job back. While it’s nice to see Tom go after someone who isn’t a young child or his grieving, mentally unwell ex-wife for once, it’s another nasty move from the village’s resident manipulator.

This comes as Rhona, Vanessa and Paddy suspended him from work over Belle’s allegations of abuse. All completely true, of course, but Tom continues to insist upon his innocence to anyone who will listen.

And he’s not taking news of his suspension lying down either, first threatening to sue for unfair dismissal, and now attempting to blackmail Paddy into relenting. Demanding his job back, Tom threatens to air all the vets’ dirty laundry in public.

It’s the latest development in a storyline which shows little sign of slowing down. And, with Tom repeatedly managing to evade the law (and Dingle retribution) his comeuppance has been a long time coming.

When – and how – will all this end?

    When is Tom leaving Emmerdale?

Soap bosses revealed earlier this month that the end of the storyline will air in December. Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: “When we first embarked on this journey we knew we wanted to show domestic abuse, coercive control and manipulation in all its guises.

“We knew from the outset that Belle would need some sort of closure on Tom and we know our Emmerdale audience always look forward to our villains getting their comeuppance. We don’t want to spoil the outcome of this story and reveal what will happen to Tom, but needless to say, Belle’s going to be in a much better place by this Christmas.”

    How will Tom King leave?

The exact circumstances behind Tom’s exit remain unknown, although fans have long speculated that he might exit the village in a coffin. While there are several ways he could get his comeuppance, many are hoping that he faces real justice – inside a prison cell.

What is known is that the story will involve Loose Woman and ex-Corrie star Denise Welch, who is joining the soap to bring Tom’s story to a close. Denise will play a woman on the jury when Belle takes Tom on in court.

TV stars Charles Dale and Jack Ellis will also join the all-star cast for the episode – an hour-long special which highlights the real-life voices of domestic violence survivors.

Harvey Rogerson has fans stunned in new photo as they declare: ‘What a fine young man’

Fans of Emmerdale have reacted to a new picture of star Harvey Rogerson, noting how grown up the young actor has become. Harvey, 13, plays Leo Goskirk on the soap, and is son to Marlon and Rhona.

Harvey is the third actor to play Leo, having joined the soap in 2014. The actor took on the role of Leo under sad circumstances – after previous star Harry Whittaker sadly died aged three, in 2014.

As the years have passed, viewers have watched Harvey come of age on the show. Don’t they grow up so fast?

Emmerdale fans react to ‘grown up’ picture of Harvey Rogerson

Fans of the actor reacted to a post on the X account @helloharvey, which shares updates from Harvey’s life.

“Just thinking….just glanced at H today and thought how much he’s growing up,” read the post. This came accompanied by a picture of Harvey, looking up at a wall of framed pictures.

And fans were stunned by how much he’s grown.

“He is growing into a fine young man.. it’s been a privilege to watch him grow on Emmerdale,” wrote one fan.

“Considering watching Harvey on Emmerdale from a young child he looks more like a grown up now,” said another.

“A handsome young man, very grown up in that pic,” commented a third.

“A fine young man,” echoed another viewer.

Things haven’t always been smooth sailing for the couple (especially not recently) but the family remains as strong as ever, with little Leo growing in their midst.

  • ‘Gorgeous’ photo of Amelia Flanagan and her Coronation Street star siblings has fans saying ‘Wowsers’

‘Gorgeous’ photo of Amelia Flanagan and her Coronation Street star siblings has fans saying ‘Wowsers’

Fans have been left gushing at a recent photo of Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan with her younger Coronation Street siblings.

Fan favourite Amelia Flanagan has played April Windsor on the soap since 2014. April is the daughter of Marlon Dingle and the late Donna Windsor.

The talented star was just six-years-old when she joined the soap and fans have loved getting to watch her grow up over the years.

Amelia, now 16, isn’t the only talented member of her family. Her younger brother and sister both star in Emmerdale’s rival soap Coronation Street as Joseph Brown and Hope Dobbs.

Their mum, Rachel Flanagan, loves to keep fans updated on their life outside the shows. She quite frequently will post photos of the stars off-screen, or lets fans know when they have had an exciting day at filming. But her most recent Instagram post has left fans surprised at just how grown up the Emmerdale star looks.

Amelia, along with her siblings were all smiles as they got dressed up for the Yorkshire’s Young Achievers 30th anniversary dinner.

One fan commented: “Wowsers! Perfect mix of mum and dad.”

Another noted: “Gorgeous. Looking so grown up!”

“Your three lovelies are growing up so fast!” a third penned.

    Amelia’s time on Emmerdale

Over the years, Amelia has had her part in many huge Emmerdale storylines. In her first year at the soap, Amelia was thrown in the deep end.

Very early on April lost her mum, Donna. Other storylines have seen her deal with being cyber-bullied, and having to look after her father when he suffered a life-changing stroke.

At the beginning of the year, Amelia’s character refused to get in a car with her teen friends. This decision proved to be smart after Angelica King crashed, causing the death of Heath Hope.

While things may be calm for April at the moment, in that village nothing ever stays quiet for too long.

April previously had a close friendship with Ross Barton, who had been in a relationship with her mum before her death. While they didn’t have many scenes together in the run up to his exit six years ago, with his recent big return, could we see more scenes of the two of them?

In the video, which was shared to the soap’s Instagram account, Rosie paired one of Charity’s tops with a skirt from Vanessa‘s collection.

And this was all some fans needed to jump back aboard the Vanity bandwagon.

“10/10 for the fact she paired a charity top with a Vanessa skirt…VANITY,” wrote one viewer.

“Charity top, Vanessa skirt = VANITY SIGN,” exclaimed another.

“Close enough. Welcome back Vanity,” a third joked.

“LOVE LOVE LOVE the skirt  Such a VIBE for Gabby SOOO VANITY VINTAGE & I SOO LOVE GABBY & VINNY together make them a GOLDEN ball,” enthused a fourth.

A sneaky sign of things to come, or (more likely, let’s be honest) a fun nod to the fans?

When did Charity and Vanessa split up on Emmerdale?

Fans have long been holding out for a return to the ‘Vanity’ days of Emmerdale – a relationship which fell apart when Charity kissed her current husband, Mack.

Vanessa left the village, seemingly putting paid to the relationship once and for all. She recently returned, but there have been no signs of a reconciliation between the former lovers so far. We can but hope.

  • Emmerdale fans ‘fuming’ over ITV’s ‘pathetic’ schedule change

Emmerdale fans ‘fuming’ over ITV’s ‘pathetic’ schedule change

Fans of Emmerdale were fuming yesterday (Thursday November 14) as ITV’s schedule change meant the show had been cancelled for football.

Between 7pm and 10pm last night ITV aired coverage of the UEFA Nations League football match between Greece and England. Instead of its usual hour-long episode of the soap.

While it’s not out of the ordinary for the channel to swap soaps for football, Emmerdale fans are getting progressively annoyed as they have to keep waiting longer for the next instalment.

Emmerdale fans share their anger at schedule change

Viewers let their feelings be known, as they took to Emmerdale Insider’s Facebook page to share their anger at the shake-up.

One angry fan tried to provide a solution: “Sick of this happening. Have a channel especially for football. We all are not interested in football.”

Another simply wrote they were “fuming” at the decision.

“I am fed up with this happening due to football again”, a third soap fan commented.

Another fan was so outraged they penned: “Think I might stop watching ITV.”

“All these schedule changes for football are pathetic,” added one more.

However, it looks like things aren’t set to change anytime soon as ITV have been changing schedules to show England matches for years. And in 2023 they secured exclusive rights to broadcast certain England men’s football matches until 2028. Although it’s very likely that contract will be extended again.

This means Emmerdale viewers are unfortunately going to continue missing out on some village action. It’s always upsetting for ITV to skip a night, as fans are so heavily invested in the storylines that play out, desperately wanting to know what happens next.

    Coming up in Emmerdale

On Wednesday night’s (November 13) trip to the Dales viewers saw Eric’s struggle without his usual Parkinson’s medication reach a whole new level, while Jai began to get suspicious about Caleb’s intentions.

Thankfully tonight’s episode of the soap will air as normal and is already available to stream on ITVX.

Tonight’s episode will see Tom turn his attention to Paddy. The villain makes it clear he will do what he has to to get his job at the vets back.

Elsewhere, Emmerdale is gearing up to air another special episode – this time for Moira and Cain. No stranger to new techniques, this special will focus on Cain throughout the day of Moira’s operation. But in a twist, it will be in reverse chronological order, beginning with Caleb finding Cain drunk with blood on his hands. But what happened?

As Alice decides to stop cancer treatment in Classic Emmerdale 8 other times Emmerdale emotionally destroyed us

Friday’s episode of Classic Emmerdale sees Alice come to terms with her decision to stop the treatment for her cancer. In some of the most devastating scenes ever aired on Emmerdale, a heartbroken Alice tries to record a video for baby Samson to help him remember her – but she can’t stop crying.

And neither could we. As these scenes air again, here are a look back at some more of the most tear-jerking Emmerdale moments ever. Tissues at the ready!

    Faith dies in Cain’s arms

Dingle matriarch Faith passed away in her son’s arms after being diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2022. The pair shared a tumultuous relationship over the years, but reconciled enough to break Cain’s heart when she died – having taken a fatal overdose so as to go out in her own terms.

Cain was left devastated as he bid his mother farewell, leading to one of the saddest soap deaths ever seen.

    Goodbye Zak and Lisa

In scenes which aired last month, there was more heartbreak in store for the Dingles as they learned that Zak had died. As the family came together for a poignant funeral for the mighty Dingle, viewers were reminded of an earlier sad death – Lisa, who passed away at home, on the day of her wedding to Zak in 2019.

Zak returned home to find Lisa unresponsive on the sofa – his heart breaking as he realised that Lisa had died. A sad end for one of the soap’s most iconic couples.

Pollard looking upset in a field on Emmerdale

    Eric’s Parkinson’s diagnosis

Soap legend Eric Pollard hasn’t always been one of Emmerdale’s most sympathetic figures – playing the part of conniving businessman, scheming husband and out-and-out villain. He’s mellowed a lot in recent years – especially since the death of wife Val – and has recently shown a new vulnerability since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Scenes this week have seen Pollard attempt to come to terms with his condition, struggling as it derailed his feud with Caleb. In unexpectedly sweet scenes, Caleb came to Pollard’s aid on Wednesday, giving him an unlikely frenemy to confide in. While the Pollard of old is never far from the surface, his struggle with his own vulnerability and mortality has been quietly devastating. Still wouldn’t trust him as far as we can throw him though.

Holly dead under a blanket on Ememrdale

    Holly’s drug overdose

Holly Barton died in 2016, following a fatal heroin overdose. This followed a lengthy struggle with addiction. During this time, she had gotten clean, and then relapsed again. Returning home after making a new life for herself in London, Holly’s addiction came back harder than ever.

Once again, viewers were led to believe she was clean so when she died, it came as a shock not just to mum Moira, but to fans too. After all, actress Sophie Powles’ exit hadn’t even been advertised prior to the episode’s transmission. We’re still reeling from the shock.

    Jackson’s assisted suicide

Becoming a quadriplegic after a train accident, Jackson struggled to adjust to his new living situation. And, while Aaron and mum Hazel did their best to change his mind, he quickly became set on ending his life.

As Jackson’s story ended, he took his own life via overdose, with Aaron handing him a fatally-dosed cup after mum Hazel was unable to do so. Aaron hasn’t been the same since. Us neither.

    Paddy’s depression

Following wife Chas’s affair with sleazy Al Chapman, Paddy hit rock bottom. After months of struggling, he decided to end his own life – taking a rifle and heading out into the wilderness where he planned on ending it all. Thankfully, Paddy’s friends and family managed to catch up with him in time, and were able to get Paddy the help he needed.

The soap’s depiction of men’s mental health issues was one of its most effective storylines. All beautifully acted by star Dominic Brunt.

    Ashley’s dementia

Beloved village vicar Ashley Thomas discovered that he had stroke-related vascular dementia in 2015. A special episode of the soap followed Ashley’s perspective as he left the hospital and attempted to make his way home – wandering the streets in a confused state.

Alzheimer’s charities praised the episode, saying at the time: “I understand there has to be a certain element of dramatic licence, but Emmerdale have been so flexible about getting things like the language right, and last night I think they smashed it.”

    Belle’s mental health struggles

Young Belle Dingle hasn’t had an easy time of it. Diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age, she managed to get her condition under control – only to fall for a controlling monster years later. This year’s Emmerdale has followed the fallout of Belle and Tom’s marriage, with Belle questioning her own sanity as Tom attempted to control every aspect of her life.

Things came to a head following dad Zak’s death, as Belle struggled to keep on an even keel. As Belle attempted to comprehend the extent of Tom’s abuse, her mental health suffered again. Scenes in which Belle wept at her dad’s grave, begging to be with him again, had viewers praising star Eden Taylor-Draper’s mighty performance.

  • Eric to kill Brenda as his Parkinson’s gets worse, heartbreaking fan theory predicts

Eric to kill Brenda as his Parkinson’s gets worse, heartbreaking fan theory predicts

With Eric Pollard struggling with his Parkinson’s in Emmerdale and Brenda Walker set to leave the show, fans have come up with a heartbreaking theory.

This comes after it was reported by The Mirror that Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda, will be leaving Emmerdale after 16 years on the show. There has already been a lot of speculation over how Brenda will leave the show, with some fans believing she will die as they can’t see her leaving Eric.

Now, other fans have taken this theory a step further and suggested that Eric will be the one to kill Brenda.

What’s happening with Eric in Emmerdale?

Eric was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a year ago, after suffering from numbness and tingling. In order to portray the story realistically, the story has been playing out slowly.

Scenes this week have seen his illness come to the forefront once again. Earlier in the week, he started shaking after confronting Caleb over the number of lorries driving through the village.

Tuesday’s episode (November 12) saw Eric act erratically in the surgery after he demanded an appointment. He was eventually escorted away by Brenda.

In Wednesday’s episode (November 13), things got even worse when Eric struggled to get himself out of bed due to not feeling his legs. He eventually managed to do it and was later found walking outside in his pyjamas and slippers by Caleb.

Caleb took Eric to see Dr Liam, who told Eric he was suffering from freezing. This was caused by a shortage in Eric’s usual medication.

Fan theory: Eric to kill Brenda?

As well as struggling physically, Eric has been struggling mentally. Could this cause him to act irrationally and attack Brenda? Fans think so.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: “Is Eric gonna have a turn & kill Brenda?” We’ve seen Eric behave out of character due to the lack of medication he needs, so it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility.

Another fan had the same idea, writing: “Eric to off Brenda.” It is not yet known when Brenda’s exit will take place, but could she be facing a heartbreaking end?
