‘Do the writers hate Vinny?’ ask fans as he learns the truth about Tina

Fans of Emmerdale have wondered whether the soap writers have a vendetta against poor Vinny. This follows last night’s episode of the soap (Monday, November 11), in which he finally learned the truth about Tina’s identity – namely, that she is his own estranged mother.

As Vinny learned how she had betrayed the Dingles, he disowned his mum (Mandy, that is), telling her that she was no-one to him, and stormed off.

This leaves Vinny adrift from the woman who raised him, and with the so-far repellent Tina Dingle continuing to send his life spinning into chaos. All of which begs the question… do the writers hate Vinny Dingle?

‘Poor Vinny’ say Emmerdale viewers as he learns the truth

As the episode aired, viewers shared their thoughts on Vinny‘s bombshell. And many found themselves sympathising with the youngster amid this latest development.

“I love Vinny!! Why can’t the writers let him have a happy storyline for once,” said one angry fan on the social media site X.

“The writers must hate Vinny. Abusive dad. A mum who sold him. Kill his wife. And the only girl he can now get is a very desperate Gobby Gabby,” said another.

“They’ll never give Vinny even a moderately happy storyline. Because the writers are [censored],” wrote a third.

“Why can’t Vinny have a good storyline for a good while?” asked one fan.

“Tina is disgusting poor Vinny,” another viewer said.

The sad life of Vinny Dingle

This is just the latest unhappy development in the miserable life of Vinny – spurned by his own mother (who blamed post natal depression) and who found himself on the receiving end of his absentee father’s abuse when he did return into his life, years later.

And then there’s the whole dead wife thing – crushed to death by a caravan in 2022.

    Poor Vinny indeed.

Emmerdale: Amelia will kill Tom as Daisy Campbell leaves the soap, fans predict

Fans of Emmerdale have theorised that Amelia will be the one to bring Tom’s reign of terror to an end – by killing him. Tom and Amelia’s relationship remains strong, in spite of her witnessing his dark side for the first time last week.

This came amid an explosive bonfire night for the pair, in which Tom snapped after supposedly being victimised by the Dingles yet again. Realising that they had made a version of him to burn on the village fire, Tom exploded – blaming Amelia for dragging him there in the first place.

Amelia was left shocked by what she saw in Tom, and immediately began having second thoughts about her man. However, these doubts were short-lived – as a visit from uncle Jimmy soon brought her back around. And, as Tom made his excuses, it seemed as though Amelia was firmly back where he wants her.

    But for how long?

Emmerdale fans predict  that Amelia will kill Tom

Fans of the soap have predicted that the worm will eventually turn, and Amelia will kill Tom. Theorising how the story might end, fans took to a Reddit thread to share their theories. And one viewer wondered whether Amelia might be the one who kills Tom – in defence of herself or Belle.

“Tom will either attack either Belle and Amelia. Amelia will strike back and kill Tom. Afterwards, Amelia will be convicted and sent to prison. Two people gone in one incident. It ends Tom and Belle’s story, and gets rid of Amelia while technically leaving the door open.”

“Also leaving Esther for Sam and Lydia to raise,” pointed out another fan in the comments below.

However, others aren’t convinced that this would be the best end to Tom’s story – which many feel has already been reduced to a farce.

“That wouldn’t be a good message to end this story on. Too much of it has already been sensationalised,” pointed out one fan.

“I do not even care how they end this exhausting (and exhausted) storyline at this point, as long as the show does finally end it,” said another.

    How will Amelia leave?

Fans learned earlier this month that actress Daisy Campbell has been axed from the soap. This came at the end of 13 years, with her final scenes due to air at Christmas this year.

Speaking to The Mirror, Daisy revealed that it had not been her choice to leave; admitting that producers broke the news to her during a meeting.

How exactly Amelia will be written out remains to be seen – nor whether she’ll be leaving the soap in one piece.

Natalie J Robb swoons over new puppy following death of dog Bronson

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has revealed that she’s got a brand new puppy joining her at home following the sad death of her dog, Bronson.

Speaking to Emmerdale Insider and other press in a recent interview, Natalie told us that she’d actually welcomed her new pup that morning (November 1).

This comes after the heartbreaking death of Natalie’s much-loved former dog, Bronson.

Natalie J Robb reveals upset over death of dog Bronson

On screen at the moment, Natalie J Robb’s character Moira is going through a hard time. This is due to being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Away from the Dales, it has also been a difficult year for actress Natalie herself. Her canine companion Bronson sadly passed away.

Natalie emotionally recalled: “I had him for 13 and a half years. It was awful. It was just me and him.”

As a tribute to Bronson, Natalie has a necklace filled with her beloved dog’s chest and ear hair. She wears it close to her heart, with the fur being surrounded by aquamarine.

After Bronson’s sad passing, Natalie saw an advert for a puppy that matched one she saw in a dream, viewing it as a sign to enquire about the furry friend.

Four months later, Natalie beamed: “‘This morning I just got a little new delivery of a six month old puppy that I’ve rescued from Spain.

“He’s my Christmas present to myself.”

Natalie’s new puppy, Buddy, is a Spanish Master who she describes as ‘looking like Bambi,’ being ‘really tall’ and with ‘beautiful, black eyeliner,’ and comically looking ‘like a dog on stilts.’

Getting a new puppy isn’t all fun though, with Natalie only getting two hours sleep on the night of Buddy’s arrival. Poor Buddy had been in kennels since he was born, arriving frightened. Despite this though, he immediately loved receiving lots of cuddles from his new owner.

As the New Year approaches, Natalie is looking forward to spending lots of time with Buddy and taking him on trips out! How adorable!

  • Three theories on how Brenda will leave the soap after Lesley Dunlop exit news

Three theories on how Brenda will leave the soap after Lesley Dunlop exit news

It has been reported that Lesley Dunlop will exit Emmerdale as Brenda Walker, but it’s not yet known how she’ll leave the Dales.

A source told The Mirror: “There have been so many exits recently and the talk is of more. With people like Lesley and Roxy potentially in the mix, nobody feels safe.

“The show has grown a lot bigger in recent years but soaps are expensive to make. It’s inevitable saving money means losing people – but it’s a huge shame all the same for those involved, their friends and colleagues.”

As speculation has already begun over what Brenda’s exit storyline will be, we’ve taken a look at the theories floating around.

    Brenda concerned on Emmerdale
Losing Heath and dealing with Pollard’s behaviour have kept Brenda busy in 2024 (Credit: ITV)

    How will Brenda leave Emmerdale?

It has been a traumatic year for Brenda, as she went through a relationship crisis with partner Eric Pollard following his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

She was also devastated when surrogate son Heath was killed in a car crash after Angelica lost control of the wheel.

Lesley, who is married to co-star Chris Chittell in real life, has been a part of Emmerdale for 16 years. Will her character face more trauma before her exit?

    Emmerdale's Brenda serious

    1. Brenda to die?

Ten years ago, Brenda survived a brain tumour. Fans have suggested that this could come back or that she’ll meet a grisly end another way.

Brenda and Eric are happy in their relationship, so some viewers feel death would be the only realistic exit for Brenda.

“Surely it means they will be killing her off as she wouldn’t leave Eric unless he’s dying so she leaves?,” one fan wrote in an Emmerdale fan Facebook group.

Another fan agreed, writing: “She’s hardly been in it this year. I’ve got a feeling Brenda will die.”

    2. Brenda to move to Canada

In 2013, Brenda’s adoptive daughter, Gennie, died after being suffocated by Cameron following a car accident.

Gennie had a young daughter, Mollie, who lives with her father Nikhil in Canada. Could Brenda decide to move closer to her granddaughter?

“It’ll break Pollard’s heart when she offs to Canada to be with Nikhil and our Genesis’ kid,” wrote one fan on X.

    3. Brenda and Eric to leave together

With many viewers struggling to see a way Brenda will leave without Eric, some have suggested that perhaps Eric will go too.

“I’m hoping she and Eric just gets in a taxi and leaves. Perhaps moving to be closer to David? Since they are a couple irl he could see this as an opportunity to retire. I don’t want to lose Eric, but it’s better than him mourning yet another partner,” wrote one fan on Reddit.

Another fan agreed, writing: “Yeah that sounds good, especially as they are married in real life. Jacob could go with them.”

A third viewer suggested that Eric’s Parkinson’s story could be revisited as part of their exit. “His exit story perhaps? He could be leaving with Brenda for specialist care.”

  • Controversial new Tina Dingle has fans fuming over ‘personality transplant’

Controversial new Tina Dingle has fans fuming over ‘personality transplant’

Tina Dingle returned to Emmerdale last month for Zak Dingle’s funeral. But it quickly became clear she wasn’t just there to mourn her dearly departed dad, she was after all she could get.

And it soon turned out she and Mandy had a big secret, one that Mandy would do anything to keep hidden. So now Tina is blackmailing her.

But her return has not gone down well with fans of the soap, especially long-time viewers who remember the Tina Dingle of old. The one we see now is very far removed from that one.

Tina arrived at Zak's graveside and immediately made herself unpopular (Credit: ITV)

Tina Dingle Mark Two arrives in Emmerdale

Tina’s arrival in the Dales causes controversy from the off. The character had been recast and was now played by Brassic star Samantha Power instead of original actress Jacqueline Pirie.

Fans were not impressed with one writing on social media: “Absolutely nothing like the original Tina Dingle it’s a insult to the original character who played her.” Another added: “Sorry, not a patch on the original Tina.”

Tina seemed to disappear after being carted off by police from Zak’s graveside. But she returned days later, tag-free, and demanding Mandy help her get her hands on Zak’s will – and her share of Wishing Well cottage. She also revealed she was Vinny’s real mum, a secret Mandy has been keeping from her son all of his life. Tina is now using that information to blackmail Mandy.

On Thursday (November 7), it turned out Mandy had complied with Tina’s demands and stolen Zak’s will. But Tina wants more. She wants Mandy to persuade Sam to sell up. If she does, Tina will take her share of the cash and leave their lives for good. But if she doesn’t, Vinny’s about to have a major bombshell dropped on him.

Who was the original Tina in Emmerdale?

Viewers are still not happy with the new Tina and have failed to warm to her. One of their big beefs is that she is nothing like the old Tina Dingle.

Tina mark one was a schemer, yes. She arrived to take revenge on her brother’s killer Luke. She seduced him into falling in love with her, then jilted him at the altar to avenge Ben’s demise.

She then tried to better herself. Tina got a job at Home Farm as Frank Tate’s assistant, wore power suits and tried to learn business. She was, as far as Dingles go, quite classy.

But not so this new version. Her personality and behaviour, not to mention her clothes, are a far cry from the old Tina. The Tina who arrived in the Dales to get justice for her brother’s death, that was a true Dingle through and through and would never blackmail them for money; that Tina.

    Fans have their say

Fans are definitely in agreement: “Very discounted Poundland, nothing like the original she had black hair, Tina Dingle,” said one on X.

“Massively impressed how Emmerdale have brought Tina Dingle back to spice things up and have chosen the least Tina Dingle looking/sounding actress they could find to play her!” joked a second.

Another added: “So we’re to believe this Tina has had a total 100% personalityectomy and a rough uncouth cheap one inserted?”

“The original Tina wasn’t like this at all, she wasn’t a cheap scally. This whole storyline and personality transplant can do one,” raged one more.

A fourth said: “Old Tina wanted to better herself, can’t take to this Rose wannabe,” with another saying: “Old Tina wouldn’t have been seen dead in an outfit like that.”

Meanwhile, a sixth commented: “I’m quite looking forward to when ‘not Tina’ leaves and we can all go back to remembering the real Tina. In her heyday. Bad mistake recasting such an iconic character, no matter how good an actor the replacement is.”

Do you agree? Would Tina have changed so dramatically in her time off-screen? Stranger things have happened in Emmerdale, we suppose…

EXCLUSIVE: As Emmerdale announces end to Tom and Belle storyline fans insist he must go to prison

Emmerdale has announced when Belle and Tom King’s abuse storyline will conclude – and now fans hope he goes to prison.

Fans have been hoping that the storyline will end for quite some time, becoming frustrated with the endless cycle of Tom getting away with his behaviour.

But, there’s finally some hope! The end is nigh. And, viewers want justice for Belle, hoping that it comes in one form in particular!

Emmerdale confirms end for Tom and Belle storyline

This December, the end of Belle and Tom’s abuse storyline will air. A special hour long episode will highlight the real-life voices of domestic abuse victims and survivors.

The episode will see the abuse storyline reach its end although the final outcome of the storyline is still being kept a secret for now. But, a ‘comeuppance’ of sorts and ‘closure’ for Belle is certainly on the cards.

Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw shared: “When we first embarked on this journey we knew we wanted to show domestic abuse, coercive control and manipulation in all its guises.

“We knew from the outset that Belle would need some sort of closure on Tom and we know our Emmerdale audience always look forward to our villains getting their comeuppance. We don’t want to spoil the outcome of this story and reveal what will happen to Tom, but needless to say, Belle’s going to be in a much better place by this Christmas.”

Fans beg for justice for Belle in the form of Tom prison punishment

With a comeuppance for Tom promised, fans are hoping that this will bring with it justice for Belle. Viewers really want Tom to face up to and pay for his treatment of Belle (and, we do too!)

Tom’s punishment has been a long time coming, but it looks to finally be just around the corner! (We all cheered.)

But, whilst Tom could reach his comeuppance in several ways, most fans are hoping for Tom to get sent to prison.

When asked by Emmerdale Insider whether Tom should go to prison or be killed, 71% of people said that Tom must go to prison and pay for his crimes, providing justice for Belle.

Fans on X also expressed a similar desire. One person said: “I’ll say it again. They’d better not just kill Tom off! We need to see the smug look wiped from his face as he’s led down to a prison cell!”

Another person added: “Lydia deserved justice for Craig. He should be in prison. Belle deserved justice for Tom. He should be in prison. These storylines should showcase justice not death as the answer.”

A third viewer finished: “I don’t believe for one minute that Tom was attacked, he’s just wanting attention coz Jimmy didn’t give him any when he said he was getting nasty comments online!! He needs to be put in prison asap!!”

Well, a comeuppance is coming one way or another. But, which form will this take?

  • Suspicion of ‘John of all trades’ continues to grow as he saves Aaron’s life

Suspicion of ‘John of all trades’ continues to grow as he saves Aaron’s life

John in Emmerdale really is a superhero! Not only can he be a farmer and a boxing trainer but it turns out he can also save lives due to his medical training in the army.

But after he performed emergency surgery on Aaron last night (Thursday November 7) fans were left even more suspicious of him than before – and that’s saying something!

They are sure he’s not all he seems and it’s really niggling at them just who he might be…

John saves Aaron’s life in Emmerdale

Things have been a little tense between John and Aaron this week. John, who clearly doesn’t have social media and has never seen the Robron hashtag, realised just ‘how deep’ Robert and Aaron’s relationship was.

Feeling insecure he pushed Aaron for answers on his feelings for Seb and for Robert now. But in true Aaron fashion, he clammed up and stormed off. And then refused to give John the time of day.

But with Aaron attending Billy and Ross’s fight, John was worried, especially when he found out the police were on their way. So he rushed to the barn to break up the fight and get Aaron out.

However in the commotion, Aaron confronted one of Jade’s goons and was punched in the chest. It caused his lung to collapse and John had to act quickly to save Aaron‘s life.

Performing emergency surgery with the help of an old biro, John managed to drain the air out of Aaron’s lung, and stablise him until the ambulance arrived.

    Fans’ suspicions of John grow

With all these heroics you’d think John would be Mr Popular, but it seems not with viewers! They are now even more suspicious of him than they were before.

“Anyone else sick of John being the hero every five seconds. ‘I’m saving his life’. He’s always in life saving situations,” sighed one on social media.

Another agreed: “This storyline gets worse and worse. Now we’ve got John of all trades saving lives!!”

“John, boxing trainer, doctor, surgeon, paramedic, mechanic, farm worker, genius, hero. Veteran. He was homeless living in a van last week,” joked one more.

A fourth speculated: “John is getting on my nerves. He pops up constantly to save the day. I can’t believe he’s who we’re being led to believe…”

“Maybe I’m wrong but maybe John is supposed to be too good to be true kind of thing?” queried a fifth.

A final person added: “I swear John can do everything. He’s too perfect. Truly was expecting him to solve the police case, drive the ambulance, and fix the vending machine.”

Is the superhero, Mr Perfect, routine just an act?

John Sugden looks brooding in press picture
Newcomer John claims to be a secret Sugden (Credit: ITV)

Who is John Sugden in Emmerdale?

There has been speculation since John arrived that he is not really a Sugden. This week a fan theory suggested he was connected to Robert having knew him in prison.

John was hiding a mysterious secret when he first arrived and clutching on to some dog tags with the name Aidan Moore. Was he really Aidan Moore? Had he killed Aidan Moore? Was Aidan Moore another Sugden brother? Everyone wanted to know and then it was revealed – mid-episode – in a real damp squib that he was an army mate who John had failed to save. Tragic, sure, but really worthy of all this build-up? No.

So it’s possible that was just the tip of the iceberg and there’s more to his story. We hope so, for John’s sake, because fans aren’t happy so far!

Emmerdale confirms ending to Belle and Tom’s abuse storyline with a special episode next month

Belle Dingle in Emmerdale has been suffering dreadful abuse from husband Tom since before their wedding early this year.

But now Emmerdale has confirmed her ordeal is almost over.

Fans will be relieved to know the show is preparing to tell Belle and Tom’s final chapter. And there isn’t long to wait.

    Belle’s bravery

Belle bravely reported Tom to the police last month. It came after she snapped following months of domestic abuse and coercive controlling behaviour at his hands. Belle was so terrified he would kill her, she hit him with an axe.

And though Tom’s been twisting and manipulating those around him, including girlfriend Amelia and uncle Jimmy, it seems his mask is slipping.

    Special Emmerdale episode for Belle

Emmerdale will air a special hour-long episode this December. It will highlight the real-life voices of domestic abuse victims and survivors.

And with the special episode, the stage will be set for Belle’s domestic-abuse storyline to reach its conclusion.

“When we first embarked on this journey we knew we wanted to show domestic abuse, coercive control and manipulation in all its guises,” said Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw.

Real-life stories just like Belle in Emmerdale

Because the episode tells real-life stories, the writers at Emmerdale have worked closely with New Beginnings Peer Support – a domestic abuse charity.

“When Emmerdale explained they hoped to include the real life testimonies of domestic abuse victims and survivors within these scenes we knew it would be the truest way for them to authentically close this storyline,” explained Lindsay Oliver, the CEO of the charity. “We hope these final episodes will continue to raise awareness about domestic abuse, controlling relationships and the fact there is help out there.”

  • Jimmy will catch Tom hurting Amelia, fan theory predicts

Jimmy will catch Tom hurting Amelia, fan theory predicts

A new Emmerdale fan theory has predicted that Jimmy will see the light about Tom King’s awful behaviour – when he witnesses him hurting Amelia.

This comes after Tom briefly showed his true colours to Amelia earlier in the week, snapping at her as his frustration with the Dingles grew. Tom may have faked a beating (thanks to his eager-to-please solicitor), but the Dingles’ victimisation is very real.

    Emmerdale: Tom’s treatment of Amelia

As they unveiled a ‘Guy’ for the bonfire that was dressed just like him, Tom saw red. He snapped at the Dingles and then, as Amelia tried to calm him down, he exploded at her too.

Amelia was shocked by Tom’s behaviour and, for a while, it looked as though the penny had finally dropped. However, last night (Wednesday, October 7), she let Jimmy talk her back on side – and accepted Tom’s apology.

With Amelia and Jimmy still firmly in his corner, Tom is doing a sterling job of keeping his supporters on track. But how will Jimmy find out when the truth does come out?

Emmerdale fans predict that Jimmy will witness Tom hurting Amelia

As the episode aired, fans took to social media to share their thoughts. And one viewer wondered whether Jimmy might get to see Tom’s abusive tendencies firsthand.

“I’m beginning to think that Jimmy will catch Tom beating her up, and that’s how it ends,” suggested one fan.

However, when Tom is finally caught out, one thing’s for sure – Amelia and Jimmy are going to regret their naivety where he’s concerned.

“If something does happen to Amelia I hope Jimmy realises that it’s his enabling that led to it because he practically guilt tripped that girl into getting back with Tom,” said one fan.

“Even now Jimmy isn’t convinced about Tom. C’mon Jimmy open your eyes,” begged another.

“Beginning to think Belle had a real premonition of Tom killing Amelia,” another viewer suggested.

‘Fake’ Sugden John is Robert’s former cell mate, new fan theory predicts

A new Emmerdale fan theory has suggested that John Sugden isn’t entirely who he’s claiming to be – with one idea predicting that he could be Robert’s former cell mate… and lover.

This comes following last night’s episode (Wednesday, November 6), in which John tried to get Aaron to open up about his relationship with Robert. The typically bull-headed Robert was having none of it, leaving John frustrated.

“What are you, jealous?” Aaron asked as John demanded to know whether he still had feelings for his ex-husband.

“Why would I be jealous of someone like him?” John responded.

A curious comment to some – with one viewer predicting that John’s remark could hint at a surprising shared history between the pair.

Does John know Robert on Emmerdale?

Writing on X last night, one fan shared this intriguing theory, saying: “Yep this new Sugden is a FAKE Sugden. Him and Aaron talking about Robert and he says a man like him… Scorned lover AKA Robert’s cell mate.”

“I think John isn’t the real John and he’s been in jail with Robert, remember the name on the dog tags…something is not right,” said another.

Could ‘John Sugden’ actually be a former cell mate of Robert’s – and a scorned lover too, at that?

This isn’t the first time that viewers have been left wondering whether there’s more to John’s past than meets the eye. John holding on to a pair of dog tags engraved with the name ‘Aidan Moore’ had some theorising that he might have stolen a former army mate’s identity – although the soap seems to have quashed that one more recently.

    Is John hiding something?
