Fans of Emmerdale have been left raging following the explosive cliffhanger last night’s episode of the soap left viewers to reckon with.
In the continuation of Monday night’s barn fire storyline, viewers were on the edge of their seats as Moira Dingle‘s family rushed to the scene of the blazing inferno.
And, as Cain tried desperately to save his wife, both of their lives were left hanging in the balance.

Moira and Cain trapped as the barn fire escalates
After calling Chas and Cain to alert them to the situation, Mack and John rushed inside. The pair managed to rescue Ruby, but Moira remained trapped inside.
Brushing off a terrified Chas, Cain stormed into the barn to rescue his wife. And, as the pair became trapped inside, an enormous explosion rocked the bystanders outside to the ground.
A huge explosion ripped through the barn in Emmerdale last night with Cain and Moira still inside – but does Cain die? We don’t think so!
Come on, this is Cain Dingle we’re talking about! The man has more lives than several cats put together. Plus, he’s smack bang in the middle of a huge storyline, so there’s no way they’d just end it there… Or would they?

Does Cain die in Emmerdale?
So on Wednesday September 11 the barn fire Moira accidentally started when she shot at Ruby Fox-Miligan was still raging on. Mack noticed the smoke and raced over on a quadbike, then John arrived, the emergency services were called and the pair went inside the burning building to try and rescue Moira.
But instead they found injured and barely conscious Ruby and carried her to safety. Mackenzie insisted he hadn’t been able to find Moira due to all the smoke and flames.
Chas, Cain and Caleb raced over to the barn and there was no stopping Cain from rushing in to rescue his wife. He located her and worked to get them out of there. Moira, who thought it was hopeless, told Cain that she loved him.
He wasn’t giving up though, and covering them both with a huge blanket, he tried to lead them out to safety. But before they could get outside, the barn exploded. Those outside including Chas, Mack and John were thrown to the floor and Chas screamed, knowing her brother had almost certainly perished.
Indeed, it doesn’t look at all like anyone could survive that blast. Anyone except Cain Dingle…

Come on, Cain can’t die in Emmerdale!
It is very clear to us that Cain won’t die. There’s three very good reasons we think he’ll still be alive tonight…
Moira stares as she blacks out again (Credit: ITV)
1. Moira’s storyline needs wrapping up
It’s been clear for all to see that there’s something seriously wrong with Moira. She has been having seizures and hallucinations and lashing out without remembering she’s done it. Cain and co think it’s the menopause, but fans are pretty sure it’s a brain tumour.
But with any diagnosis yet to be given, they can’t kill Cain off in the middle of this storyline, surely?!
Plus, Jeff Hordley told Lorraine during behind-the-scenes filming that there is “more to come” in the aftermath of the fire and seemingly confirmed Cain and Moira will both still be alive.
Tom has been watching Belle in secret (Credit: ITV)
2. Cain needs to take on Tom
Cain has just found out about his sister Belle’s abuse at the hands of Tom King. There is no way Emmerdale would deny us a showdown between the pair, it’s what we’ve been waiting for.
Although Belle has insisted she doesn’t want Cain to lash out in violence, he at the very least has to make Tom suffer somehow – even if that’s just being by Belle’s side and defending her every step of the way.
Cain cannot die with Tom still getting away with it!
3. He’s Cain Dingle!
This is not the first fire Cain has survived. He was pulled out of a garage fire started by Adam Barton. And he has had so many brushes with death there’s too much to mention!
But his lucky escapes have included a brain aneurism, being attacked and left for dead by his father, Zak, a car smash involving Al and an attack by Aaron Dingle.
Cain always comes out on top and we have no reason to think any different this time. Or at least we hope we don’t!

An explosion rips through one of the barns in Emmerdale this evening, while Cain and Moira are trapped inside.
As the force of the Emmerdale explosion knocks the shocked onlookers off their feet, things look bleak for everyone who’s nearby.
But will everyone make it out alive? We took a look at everyone who’s there when the barn burns, and who could end up dead!
Ruby was in trouble even before the fire broke out (Credit: ITV)
Ruby
As a frantic Caleb arrived at the barn in tonight’s episode, brave Mack was emerging from the flames holding Ruby. She may be out of the fire itself but she’s badly injured and was suffering from a head wound before the blaze took hold. Could she be one of the casualties?
Things looked bleak for Moira (Credit: ITV)
Will Moira die in the Emmerdale explosion?
Moira started the fire when she fired her shotgun and caused sparks to ignite the petrol-soaked hay in the barn. But it’s clear she’s not herself and she was hallucinating when Ruby confronted her. With Moira already vulnerable and obviously unwell, will she even attempt to make it out of the flames?
Cain raced towards the flames (Credit: ITV)
Cain
Moira’s husband Cain has gone into the flames to rescue her but though Moira was more alert when he arrived, it looked grim. With their way out blocked by the fire and cans of petrol, it didn’t seem like there was any way to make it to safety. Undaunted, Cain wrapped a tarpaulin round them both and tried to get Moira to the door – just as the barn exploded. Will he make it out alive?
Could Caleb be in trouble? (Credit: ITV)
Caleb
Soaps are tricky things and sometimes you think someone is in dire straits, only to discover they’re fine and it’s the person who seemed okay all along, who’s in trouble. So while Caleb seemed to be only worried about Ruby, he was knocked off his feet when the barn exploded and we can’t help wonder if he might have injured himself?
Will’s in all sorts of trouble but does that include perishing in the fire? (Credit: ITV)
Will
Still focused on his blackmailer’s relentless messaging, Will wandered off to take a phone call while the flames raged. He wasn’t with the others outside when the barn exploded. Was he too close for comfort? Could this be a really extreme way to put an end to his blackmailer’s demands?!
Mack and John went into the barn (Credit: ITV)
Mackenzie
Mack is not at his best right now, having just recovered from being attacked by a bull. He bravely ran into the flames to rescue Ruby but could this be the thing that finally finishes him off? He’s survived the bull, a stabbing, Meena’s maize maze blaze, the dramatic accident that saw his car plunge off a cliff, and the wrath of Charity when she found out he’d cheated. Is it going to be the barn fire that ends him once and for all?
Could John be hurt in the Emmerdale explosion?
Newcomer John is right there when the barn explodes. He seems unscathed as he sits up, shocked at what just happened. But he was inside the barn with Mack and smoke can cause a lot of damage. Is Victoria about to lose another brother?
Is Chas going to be one of the casualties? (Credit: ITV)
Chas
Chas may have stayed outside the barn, agonising over Cain’s bravery as he headed into the flames, but that doesn’t mean she’s safe. Could she have banged her head when she was thrown to the ground by the force of the flames? Perhaps she’s so worried about her brother she hasn’t even yet noticed her own injuries…
Where is Nate? (Credit: ITV)
Nate
The last time we saw Nate, he said he was going to talk to Moira. We didn’t see him leave for Shetland and he’s not been seen since. Everyone in the village thinks he’s upped and gone. BUT… are we putting two and two together and coming up with five, if we say, perhaps he’s in the barn too? Or nearby somewhere? Perhaps he’s badly injured or even dead and no one knows to look for him!

Someone is blackmailing Will Taylor in Emmerdale and he has absolutely no idea who is making his life a misery!
Poor Will is having a bad old time of it this week. He’s in trouble right up to his neck after sleeping with his ex Rose.
Now he’s lying to wife Kim and trying to keep whoever is blackmailing him happy too. He’s pawned his watch, which was a wedding present, and just about everything he says to Kim is a fib!
Will thought he had the blackmail under control, but he missed the drop-off, thanks to racing to help with the barn fire. Now things are even worse!
Of course, Will’s got no idea who his tormentor is. So we have rounded up a list of the most likely suspects.
Is Rose the culprit? (Credit: ITV)
Rose
She’s the obvious choice, given her history of lying and fleecing her family. Plus she’s got a lot of beef with Will – and Kim – and she’s spent the last few weeks trying to split them up.
But Rose is soaking up the sun in the Med, and she doesn’t seem to have any inclination to return. Plus, Will knows his blackmailer is in the UK – perhaps we can cross Rose off the list.
Vengeful Dawn is still fuming with her dad (Credit: ITV)
Dawn
Dawn’s fuming with her dad for *checks notes* getting rid of the mum who lied to her, drugged her, and tried to split up her family. And she is really not in any mood to forgive him any time soon.
Could she be taking some twisted revenge on her dad? It’s possible!
Don’t mess with Lydia (Credit: ITV)
Lydia
Yes we know this is a crazy suggestion, but go with us here. Lyds is VERY protective of her bestie Kim. Kim was there for Lydia in her darkest times, and perhaps Lydia feels like she owes her. And more important than all that, Lydia knows that Will slept with Rose…
Jimmy’s being a mate to Will but is he the blackmailer? (Credit: ITV)
Jimmy
Plagued with money troubles, Jimmy could definitely do with a cash injection. But he’s been a real friend to Will these last few weeks and he’s even tried to talk him out of giving into the blackmail. Could he really have betrayed his mate?
Kim’s not going to be happy if she finds out what Will’s been up to. But is she blackmailing him? (Credit: ITV)
Kim
Kim Tate is no pushover. And she does not take kindly to being made a fool of. She loathed Rose and had her number straightaway, only for Dawn and Will to ignore her concerns. Does she know the truth about Will and Rose? If so, she’s really taking terrible revenge!
She loves scheming, does Ruby! (Credit: ITV)
Ruby
Ruby was behind Rose’s plan to break up Will and Kim. She was pulling the strings behind the scenes back then, so perhaps she’s still in control? C0uld she be the one making Will’s life a misery?
Manipulative Caleb was in the right place for the cash pick-up (Credit: ITV)
Caleb
Caleb’s still determined to take everything he can away from Kim. He’s set his sights on the haulage yard and is busy sabotaging it left, right and centre. Could this sinister blackmail plot be part of his plan?

Barns in Emmerdale aren’t just for storing hay, or keeping animals away from the elements. Oh no. In Emmerdale, barns are super dangerous places, where you could burn in a raging fire, be held hostage by a vengeful enemy, get shot at, or even be electrocuted!
But don’t take our word for it – we’ve trawled the Emmerdale archives to find the most dangerous, shocking and downright disastrous events that have taken place in barns.
Here’s our round-up of the biggest dramas that have happened in barns in Emmerdale!
Kyle shot Al Chapman (Credit: ITV)
Kyle shoots Al
Al Chapman met a sorry end in a barn, when young Kyle Winchester accidentally shot him. Kyle was watching on as his dad Cain argued with Al, wanting him to leave the village. And when Kyle picked up the shotgun Cain had brought with him, he accidentally pulled the trigger. Al died, and Cain took the blame for the killing at first, before Kyle confessed. Eventually the case against Kyle was dropped.
Paul met his maker on his wedding day in a barn (Credit: ITV)
Paul Ashdale’s truck horror
As Mandy Dingle prepared to marry Paul Ashdale, she was unaware that he had been abusing their son Vinny. Vinny’s girlfriend Liv, though, knew what was going on and she headed up to the barn where the wedding was being held, ready to confront the groom.
Faced with Liv’s accusations, Paul lashed out, but as he attacked Liv, Jimmy was driving past in a truck. He lost control and the truck smashed into the barn. Liv and Jimmy both survived, but Paul was killed. And no one really missed him!
Tom lashed out in the barn and got an electric shock for his trouble (Credit: ITV)
Tom’s shock
When Tom King discovered his wife Belle had been to an abortion clinic and lied about it, he was furious. So furious, in fact, that he smashed up the barn. But while he was getting aggressive with inanimate objects, he accidentally hit the barn’s isolator with a metal bar. Sparks flew as an electric shock knocked Tom out cold.
Moira thought Ruby was Emma Barton (Credit: ITV)
Moira and Emma’s blazing barn barney
When Ruby confronted Moira this week, the struggling Ms Dingle thought Ruby was Emma Barton. She was remembering the dramatic scenes when she and Emma came face-to-face in a barn as Emma confessed to killing her husband, James. The confession led to a struggle, which led to a lamp being knocked over and the barn going on fire. Oh and while all that was going on, Moira was in labour having not even known she was pregnant. Pretty dramatic, huh?
Cain wanted Nathan to confess (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Wylde confession
Right, listen carefully because this is a bit complicated. Nathan’s mum, Natasha, murdered his dad, Mark and Nathan found out. Nathan managed to pin Mark’s murder on his half-brother Ryan Lamb, who went to prison for the crime. But Cain Dingle kidnapped Nathan and together with Nathan’s sister, Maisie, held him hostage in a barn. They tried to get Nathan to confess to the murder only to be shocked when Nathan revealed Natasha was the killer!
Trust us, Debbie, this is the least bad thing Cameron is going to do (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Debbie’s revenge
Debbie Dingle fell head over heels for Cameron Murray, unaware that a) her aunt Chas was also sleeping with him and b) he’d turn out to be one of Emmerdale’s most sinister serial killers. Deb was terribly upset when she found out about Chas (though not as upset as she was when she found out about the whole murderer thing) and tied her auntie up in a barn. Debbie held Chas at gunpoint but fortunately Charity and Cain arrived just in the nick of time.
Sarah Sugden and Richie Carter hooked up in the barn where she eventually died (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Sarah’s tragic death
Andy Sugden loved his adopted family so much that he was prepared to take criminal action to protect them. He was convinced the family’s troubles were due to financial pressure – not knowing that his mum Sarah was having an affair with lodger Richie Carter. Wanting to help, Andy set fire to the barn, thinking Jack could claim on the insurance and ease their money troubles.
But Sarah was in the barn with Richie – ironically, breaking up with him having decided Jack was the man for her after all. Richie escaped but Sarah was killed when the barn exploded.
David wanted revenge on Lachlan White (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
David takes revenge
Troubled teen Lachlan White sexually assaulted Alicia Metcalfe and her husband David wasn’t happy about it. Not wanting to wait for justice, David kidnapped Lachlan and took him to an abandoned barn. He managed to force a confession out of Lachy but it didn’t make him change his ways – he just got worse from then on and eventually turned to kidnap himself, along with murder.
As Moira fights for her life in a barn fire in Emmerdale it’s clear there’s something really wrong with her, but what?
On-screen, Moira and the other Dingles seem to think she’s going through the menopause and that’s what’s causing her strange behaviour. That certainly seems to fit with what a lot of viewers think too. The overriding fan theory, however, is that she has a brain tumour.
But with Emmerdale keeping tight-lipped over what’s really wrong with Moira, two more theories have emerged over what it could be. And one suggests John Sugden is behind the whole thing!
Moira looks blank in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Moira’s strange behaviour in Emmerdale
The farmer has been acting odd for a while now. It started when her son, Matty, was falsely imprisoned and she began taking her anger out on Cain. She has been downright nasty to him, belittling him, throwing things at him and even slapping him.
When she’s not behaving aggressively towards her husband, she is all over him, seducing him and flirting heavily.
She also lashed out at Matty, telling him to ‘man-up’. And she seemingly made a pass at stepson Nate as well as dishing out a Glasgow Kiss to Ruby.
Despite all of this, no one has realised there’s something seriously wrong with her, just putting it down the menopause. Cain was convinced she’d cheated with Nate and ended their marriage, unwilling to listen to her explanations.

So what’s really wrong with Moira in Emmerdale?
Although the most popular theory is that Moira has a brain tumour, one fan suggested another idea:
“I read where it’s the Sugden guy who has been drugging her and Mack as he’s their long-lost half-brother out for revenge and not a Sugden at all,” they said.
Interesting!
John Sugden arrived in the Dales last month as the long-lost half-brother of Victoria Sugden. But could that be a trick and actually he’s a Boyd?
Another fan thought it could all be down to PTSD. Last night (Monday September 10), Moira hallucinated Emma Barton, who she killed years ago. Is that coming back to haunt her now?
The fan wrote: “I think it’s non epileptic panic disorder she’s got because of PTSD.”
Someone else then went on to explain what that is: “It is basically a severe form of PTSD, where [they] goes into trance like episodes, [they have] no idea who anyone is around [them],.”
They continued: “[They] can get violent, very strong, but above all scared and completely taken over by all of the trauma. These episodes last for about 3-7 minutes, and [there is] absolutely no recollection of the episode afterwards.”
But is either of these the cause of Moira’s troubles? And when will we find out exactly what is?!
Emma Barton came to Emmerdale to reconcile with her sons Ross, Pete and Finn and ex-husband James. He was Moira’s brother-in-law, brother to her husband John Barton.
Emma blamed her ex, James, for her losing her family, but it was quickly revealed that she had tried to kill Ross when he was a baby.
Not surprisingly, James wasn’t keen on his ex-wife coming back into his life. But Emma was persistent!
Emma held James prisoner in his own home (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
The background for Moira and Emma Barton in Emmerdale
It turned out that Moira had slept with James and it was later revealed that James was actually the biological dad of Moira’s son, Adam.
During an argument with James, Emma accidentally caused a pallet to fall onto her ex. She was a nurse and could have helped, but instead she waited before calling an ambulance.
With James injured, Emma managed to manipulate him into letting her move in to look after him and then to give their marriage another try.
The truth about Moira and James revealed!
When Emma found out about James and Moira, she stepped up her mental abuse, holding James prisoner in the house. When he escaped, she followed and they had a showdown on a motorway bridge. Emma pushed James off the bridge, causing the huge Hotton by-pass crash. And James later died of his injuries.
Dark stuff!
Emma and Moira had a confrontation in a burning barn – sounds familiar! (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Moira comes face-to-face with Emma Barton in Emmerdale!
Anyway, with all that resentment about James and Moira still simmering, Emma’s mental health began to suffer even more.
She became fixated on the church and her Christian faith
And eventually, in October 2017, Moira and Emma came face-to-face in a barn.
Emma confessed to pushing James off the bridge, and the women fought. In the struggle, they knocked over a lamp and the barn caught fire.
As if that wasn’t enough drama, Moira was pregnant, though she didn’t know it at the time, and she went into labour!
Fiery confrontation
So with the barn ablaze and Moira having contractions, things looked bleak, especially when an explosion trapped the mum-to-be.
Emma saved the day, though, driving through the barn to free Moira, and helping deliver baby Isaac.
Moira fell unconscious, and was found by Adam and his wife Victoria. Emma ran away and Adam followed – with a gun. Another struggle followed and Emma grabbed the gun.
She walked off into the night, and accidentally fired the gun when she banged into a tree.
Unbeknownst to Emma, the bullet she fired hit her beloved son, Finn, who was in the woods looking for his mum. He died later in hospital.
Moira tried to stop Emma from jumping but ended up pushing her instead! (Credit: ITV)
Viaduct showdown!
When Emma heard the news of Finn’s death on the radio, she was distraught. She was seen on the viaduct, contemplating taking her own life – and then viewers saw her on the ground, dead.
But it was revealed later that she had been murdered. On the day of Emma’s funeral, a series of flashbacks revealed that Moira had spotted her nemesis balancing on the viaduct and had attempted to talk her down.
Emma though, wasn’t listening. Instead, she blamed Moira for her daughter Holly’s death.
“Imagine if you paid attention and actually noticed that there was something wrong with Holly on the day that she died,” she said to Moira. “You could’ve saved her, Moira, but you walked out and left her to die. You might as well have injected the heroin yourself.”
Emma died when she fell (Credit: ITV)
Emma’s death
Not surprisingly the bereaved mum saw red at such cruel words. She shoved Emma off the viaduct and Emma fell to her death.
Adam Barton took the blame for his mum’s crime and is currently on the run.

Emmerdale takes a break from our screens tonight because there is an England football match on the telly.
Soap fans are used to their fave shows being pushed aside when there’s football on – though we’re never really happy about it – but tonight’s scheduling has really got viewers’ goats.
Because last night’s episode of Emmerdale ended on such a dramatic cliffhanger!
Moira tried to wake Ruby up (Credit: ITV)
Cliffhanger!
Ruby had come across Moira in the barn, intending to taunt her about her ‘kiss’ with Nate. But it was clear that Moira was acting oddly – spilling petrol and zoning out as Ruby spoke.
And then Moira began calling Ruby by the name ‘Emma’ as she hallucinated that she was back in another barn – remembering her confrontation with Emma Barton.
Moira was scared as she thought Emma was in the barn with her, and Ruby was freaked out, but Moira wouldn’t let her go. She held Ruby at gunpoint and then fired – sending sparks into the barn that set it alight.
Ruby tried to grab the gun, but Moira knocked her out.
As the episode drew to a close, Moira seemed to come to her senses for a moment, and desperately attempted to wake Ruby.
But then she spaced out again, rocking where she sat on the ground – and that was the end of the episode!
Monday’s episode was so dramatic, fans can’t wait to see what happens next (Credit: ITV
Forced to wait!
After such an exciting cliffhanger, the fans are desperate to see what happens next and now they’re being forced to wait thanks to the football!
And they are really not happy about it!
“Looks like Moira is about to pass out! and we have to wait until Wed now? Damn it!” said one disgruntled viewer.
“Emmerdale once again falls behind for bloody football we had enough of it with Euros could have aired Emmerdale but no hours worth of pointless waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle match stuff,” said another who wasn’t holding back on their opinion!Â
“Aargh no Emmerdale,” another viewer wailed. “Thanks to boring football we won’t see it tomorrow,” complained one more.Â
Thankfully it’s only one episode we’re missing this week and we’ll back in the thick of the action in the barn fire on Wednesday!
But will Moira and Ruby make it out alive? It’s not looking good for the pair right now!

Will Taylor in Emmerdale is in it right up to his neck having cheated on wife Kim, annoyed daughter Dawn, and now given in to a blackmailer – who’s about to kidnap Kim!
Things aren’t looking good for poor Will but it’s hard to feel sorry for him as it’s all totally his own fault!
And it’s all about to get worse!
We had a chat with Dean Andrews, who plays Will, to find out more about what’s going on.
“He’s found himself being blackmailed by somebody threatening to tell Kim about his little dalliance with his ex-wife Rose,” explains Dean.
“They’re demanding money and he’s desperate to keep it from Kim, for obvious reasons. So he’s going through all kinds of things to try and find the money to give the blackmailers what they want to kind of get him out of jail a little bit.”
Will thinks about his life choices (Credit: ITV/ Composite EI)
Giving in to demands!
Despite Jimmy warning Will that it’s never a good idea to give in to a blackmailer’s demands, Will’s gone along with it all so far. So does he have any idea who’s behind the blackmail?
“He’s got no idea, he just keeps getting these random messages – even one or two AI messages which kind of freak him out,” says Dean. “He’s got no idea who the blackmailer is but he’s desperate to get the money so he can carry on his life at Home Farm.”
No one cheats on Kim Tate and gets away with it (we hope!) Credit: ITV)
Once a cheater…
But can life really go back to normal now he’s cheated on Kim? After all, we all know secrets don’t stay secret for long in Emmerdale – she’s bound to find out eventually. If she hasn’t already!
“He knows deep down that he loves Kim and he really didn’t want much to do with Rose,” says Dean.
“Will loves Kim, they’ve got a great relationship. So he doesn’t want to lose all that. He’s got his daughter in the village and Kim’s been great with the grandkids and he’s desperate to keep his status at Home Farm.”
But will that be enough for Kim?! And does Will really think this will work?
“He’s hoping so!” Dean admits. “In his head, somebody asks for X amount of pounds, you find X amount of pounds and the problem will go away.”
So he’s got the cash for the blackmailer, and off he goes to deliver the money – but then he gets caught up in the barn fire and misses the drop off. And that’s when things get a whole lot worse.
Will’s not thinking straight! (Credit: ITV)
Downward spiral ahead of kidnap in Emmerdale
“The blackmailer’s asking for more money because they’re angry,” explains Dean. “£50,000’s a lot of money, then Kim’s horse goes missing. He’s desperate and tries anything to find the money.”
And that ‘anything’ happens to be asking Caleb for the cash!
“It’s one of the few things he feels he can do. He goes to his best mate Caleb and asks him for 40 grand to make up the difference. He puts his shares in the haulage company as a guarantee to be paid back.”
And that means he’s gone behind Jimmy’s back, risking the business as well as his marriage.
“I don’t think he’s doing it personally towards Jimmy, I just think he doesn’t think he’s got any other way out,” muses Dean. “He’s hoping he gets the 40 grand from Caleb and he pays it off, everything becomes all right and he can somehow pay the 40 grand back and nobody’s going to be any the wiser.”
Will’s frightened as he tramps through the woods – but what will he find? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale kidnap – Kim is taken
But of course Jimmy’s not happy, and the pair fall out, leaving Will even more isolated. And then Kim goes missing too!
“Kim said she was going to cook lunch and Will gets back and it’s absolutely burnt to a crisp. He thinks somebody’s come and grabbed her!”
And when the kidnapper calls, it all becomes clear. It turns out, Kim’s in danger and Will gets instructions about how to save her. He’s being directed into the woods, following signs…
“He’s getting directions from a voice in the woods, but he can’t fathom out where this voice is coming from or why,” says Dean.
“Will has just gone into a random woods, he’s hearing all kinds of voices, He gets really panicky. He knows he’s got the money in his bag, but he doesn’t know what’s going to happen when he finds her…”
Sounds intriguing! We can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Let’s talk about the new and improved Cain and Charity in Emmerdale. In their almost 25 years on screen they have arguably become two of the most developed characters in Soapland. But do they belong together?
During Friday night’s episode (September 6) they came together to support Belle after discovering her abuse at the hands of husband Tom. And there was something in their body language that made us think, finally, after all these years, this could be their time.
Sure, they’re both married to other people – and we’ve always shipped Moira and Cain for life, but with Moira’s weird behaviour, have they finally reached the end of the line?
Are they meant to be? (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
The history of Cain and Charity in Emmerdale
Sit tight, there’s a lot of history between these two. So much so you could write a book and several sequels!
The second cousins had a fling when they were 14 and 13, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Debbie in October 1989. She was then given up for adoption.
Debbie came to live in the village in the Christmas of 2002 when she was fostered by Paddy Kirk and his then-wife, Emily. She reconnected with her birth parents and the trio formed a close bond.
The return of their daughter prompted Cain and Charity to give things another go. They were together until 2005, when Charity ditched Cain – and the village – for a new life elsewhere.
She returned four years later. The pair got back together and Cain proposed in December 2009. He gave Charity with a plastic engagement ring – who says romance is dead?!
Cain then planned a surprise wedding. But Charity decided she wasn’t ready to settle down and called their engagement off.
The pair finally called it quits shortly afterwards when Cain strayed with glamorous Faye Lamb and Charity left him for Jai Sharma.
Since then there’s been a few cheeky liaisons – including a brief affair in 2016.
Cain and Charity work well together now (Credit: ITV)
Cain and Charity now
Instead of a romantic attraction, the pair have settled into being the Dingle equivalent of best friends. Cain was the one who supported Charity when her own abuser DI Bails died. And he was the one there for her when she suffered PTSD after killing Harry at Christmas.
Now, they are supporting each other to help Belle cope with what’s she been through at Tom’s hands. And there was a moment tonight, just a fleeting one, where Charity and Cain locked eyes and there was a frisson of something there.
With Cain’s marriage Moira under pressure and Charity’s marriage to Mack – well, the less said about that the better – is now the time to reunite these two for good?

Should Cain and Charity get back together in Emmerdale?
The Emmerdale Insider team are definitely torn on this one! Cain and Moira were meant to be together, but can they weather this latest storm?

Kaggie Hyland, Editor-In-Chief
“I’d like to see Cain with Ella. I think there’s a level of understanding and shared experience (sort of…) there that would be interesting to explore further. Also, underneath the tough shell she’s needed to build, Ella is such a broken bird still – in a way that Charity nor Moira are – although they clearly have their own vulnerabilities still. I’d like to see him really needed – and deep down I think Cain needs to be needed by a strong woman.
“Mostly, though – in previous scenes, the chemistry between Jeff Hordley and Paula Lane is great!!”
Carena Crawford, Managing Editor
“I have never, ever liked Charity and Cain together. But there’s something about them now, their reckless schemes, plots and one-upmanship days are behind them, they’re both mature and calmer and somehow it feels like it might work. I’ve always backed Cain and Moira, but it really seems like they’re done. Don’t get me wrong, I want them to work it out, but right now it feels like there’s more of an emotional understanding between Cain and Charity.”
Tamzin Meyer, Assistant Editor
“Cain should be with Moira, they’re an iconic Emmerdale couple. But, he actually needs to step up and be a good husband when his wife needs him the most!”

“I have always been a Coira fan but I think he has really let her down recently.”
