As Mack takes on a bull and loses, other animals that have caused chaos in Emmerdale!

There’s a lot of drama in Emmerdale and often it’s caused by animals! Mack took on a bull – and lost – in this week’s episodes, ending up with a slightly anti-climactic bump on the head. And giving Moira another memory lapse to worry about, too.

Perhaps not surprisingly, seeing as Emmerdale is set in the countryside, Mack’s bull isn’t the first animal to cause chaos in the show.

Here’s our round-up of some of the most memorable!

    Missing Minty the lamb

Soft-hearted Isaac Dingle was horrified when he did a farm visit with his mum and discovered the runt of the lambs would be killed. Despite mum Moira’s misgivings, Isaac managed to persuade his dad Cain to let him have Minty as a pet. Isaac adored him so when he went missing during the summer fair he was distraught! Somehow, the youngster convinced the whole village to join in the search for the lamb. And to everyone’s surprise, it was Kim Tate who found the little lamb.

Sadly, Minty didn’t last long, leaving Isaac devastated, and accusing his parents of killing his pet!

    Moira’s murderous moos

The spectacular storm in October 2022 left Liv Flaherty and Al Chapman dead. During the high winds, the barn housing Moira’s cows collapsed and the terrified animals stampeded.

Sam Dingle and Nate Robinson were forced to flee from the cows. Sam leaped over a hay bale to escape and ended up impaled on a tractor! Fortunately he recovered from his animal ordeal almost as quickly as Mack did.

    Ice the vengeful horse

Evil Craig manipulated Lydia, and then raped her, leaving her life shattered and her marriage in tatters. So when he ended up dead, no one was very sorry.

And it turned out, Craig had lost his life at the hooves of another chaos-causing Emmerdale animal – Kim Tate’s horse, Ice.

Marlon Dingle's, as played by Mark Charnock, gutted to realise he's accidentally poisoned Arnold (gerbil) and Paddy Kirk, as played by Dominic Brunt, helps him replace him. However, Jessie, as played by Sandra Marvin, reveals that Arnold has cancer, Marlon's quick to suggest they don't put him down, knowing this particular gerbil is perfectly healthy.

    Arnold the miracle gerbil

Marlon’s wife Jessie brought the school gerbil, Arnold, home to look after during the holidays. But when Marlon and Paddy were in charge, Marlon accidentally poisoned Arnold and the gerbil died. Aww!

The quick-thinking mates, though, found another gerbil that looked the same as Arnold, and brazened it out.

Until New Arnold gave birth! It turned out he was actually a she and she was pregnant when Marlon bought her.

    Emma Barton’s chicken of doom

Emmerdale viewers knew Emma Barton was losing her mind when she held husband James hostage.

In scenes reminiscent of the Stephen King story, Misery, Emma made sure James stayed put. And the horror really ramped up when she appeared in her blood-splattered wedding dress, clutching a chicken she’d just slaughtered.

Emma’s rampage through the village was just beginning!

Arthur’s back! Where exactly has he been and why did he leave the Dales?

Arthur Thomas is back in Emmerdale. Thursday’s episode (August 29) saw a return to the Dales for Arthur following a brief break.

During his absence, he has missed out on a whole heap of drama, including mum Laurel’s heart attack and her split from Jai.

But where exactly has Arthur been and why did he leave Emmerdale?

    Where did Arthur go?

The start of the year was a tough one for Arthur after his friend Heath died in a car accident.

He later disappeared from screen for a couple of months…

Following an argument with new husband Jai, who insulted her late husband – and Arthur’s dad – Ashley, Laurel suffered a heart attack.

It was during her recovery that Arthur’s absence was mentioned on screen – with Laurel explaining he was in Australia.

Viewers previously saw Arthur’s grandfather Doug leave the Dales for a new life in Australia in 2020, so presumably Arthur went to spend time with him following his tough year.

    Why did Arthur leave?

In real life, Alfie Clarke, who plays Arthur was studying for his GCSEs. The youngster is 16, so took time off to concentrate on his exams.

He shared photos to Instagram of himself and his mates at his school prom. He later posted a snap of the Emmerdale sign with the caption: “Good to be back.”

But what has he come back to? Mum Laurel is currently struggling amid Jai’s determination to fight dirty in their divorce. Laurel has had to continue working with her ex and faced insults daily. Will Arthur’s return lift her spirits?

Spoilers for the rest of the week share that Arthur wastes no time in defending his mum and Jai is unsettled to see that Arthur means business…

  • Finally got the memo? Have Emmerdale actually killed off Mack this time?

Finally got the memo? Have Emmerdale actually killed off Mack this time?

The latest episode of Emmerdale (Thursday, August 29), saw Mackenzie Boyd in a life-threatening situation – yet again (surprise, surprise!)

Of all the ways to meet your maker, being chased by a bull is at least an exciting option. That’s if Mack is really dead…

The unpopular mechanic has faced numerous near death experiences since arriving in the village as Moira’s long lost brother back in 2020 (long lost relatives are the only kind of relatives in Soapland.)

So is the game really up for him this time, or is he actually a cat with nine lives?

Has Mack finally met his match? (Credit: Emmerdale)

    What happened to Mack?

The latest episode of Emmerdale saw mechanic Mack head to the barn to fix a quad bike. In order to work on it safely, John and Nate said they’d move the bull to the field.

However, when Mack arrived, the bull was still in the barn area and started to chase Mack (oh no!) Mack then climbed a gate in order to escape the bull, but he fell and hit his head.

Nate rushed to help, with Mack insisting he was OK. But he was angry and claimed that John left the bull in the barn on purpose as revenge for taking his van.

Viewers will know that earlier this month, John’s van was stolen from the garage and later discovered in the lake.

Later tonight, Aaron confronted John. But in typical soap feud fashion, the two started kissing instead. Aaron’s never been able to resist a Sugden, has he?

Meanwhile, Charity told Mack that they needed to plan their revenge on John. However, Mack wasn’t taking in much of what she was saying and complained about feeling ill.

Mack then collapsed to the floor before being rushed to hospital. We reckon he should just live there at this point!

    Why is Mack unpopular?

Following his affair with Chloe, fans have been calling to leave the Dales.

Mack treated both Chloe and Charity terribly, but appeared to come out of the situation well – kidnapping aside.

When is Emmerdale gonna get rid of the worst character ever, Mack?” asked one fan on X, while another commented while seeing the bull in an earlier episode: “There’s the bull that we all wish would finish off Mack.”

“Mack just continues to grate,” added another viewer, while a fourth said: “Emmerdale for [bleep] sake just get rid of Mack… He’s already had 4 major storylines where he’s almost died… surely this has got to be it!”

They need to kill off tedious Mack please,” demanded another fan. But have the fans finally got their wish?

Emmerdale's Chloe, Charity and Mack are in a car
Mack’s survived every time! (Credit: ITV)

    Has Mack been killed off?

Mack was originally a likeable character. But more recently, viewers have turned against him – and for good reason.

This is also not the first time he has come close to death. It’s as if death follows him wherever he goes!

In the last year alone, he has been stabbed by Charity and kidnapped and left beaten in a warehouse by Chloe’s father – again, for good reason.

Prior to that, Mack survived when a car he was in with Chloe and Charity was suspended over a cliff edge.

To say the man has nine lives would be an understatement, but could this be the time when Mack is finally killed off? Let’s be honest… probably not, which many have agreed is a load of bull…

“Happy ‘Mack almost gets killed by a bull but doesn’t cos Emmerdale have made an awful character invincible’ week to all those that celebrate,” joked one fan on X.

Other agreed, saying they refused to get their hopes up as Mack ‘will probably live.’

It’s almost as if Emmerdale are teasing us, but given the numerous opportunities they’ve had to kill Mack off, why would this time be any different? Then again, there’s only so many near-death experiences one person can have before fate catches up with them, right? RIGHT?

  • Remember Malone? Dawn shouldn’t be so harsh on Will – he saved her from the cop shop

Remember Malone? Dawn shouldn’t be so harsh on Will – he saved her from the cop shop

They have short memories over in Emmerdale – namely Dawn, whose judgemental nature has caused fans to ask if she remembers shooting Malone.

In recent Emmerdale scenes, Dawn disowned her dad over his lies about her mum, Rose.

But given her history, is Dawn being harsh on the man who helped her cover up a murder?

    Who was Malone?

DI Mark Malone was a bent police officer who appeared in Emmerdale in 2020. He was also the boss of a criminal gang, who Will Taylor once worked for.

During his short stay in the village, Malone managed to blackmail Will, Cain and Billy into working for him.

Malone later threatened Billy, saying he had the whole police force in his pocket and could get Billy sent down for years on fake assault charges.

Malone then threatened Will’s daughter Dawn, and tried to convince her to take a fatal overdose of heroin. Fortunately, Harriet came to the rescue and hit Malone over the head with an ornament – an action both ladies thought had killed him.

However, an angry Malone woke up and attempted to attack Dawn and Harriet. Dawn instinctively reached for Malone’s gun and shot him three times, resulting in his death. Harriet suggested burying him in an already occupied grave.

Will helped Dawn cover up her crime

Initially hiding what she had done from her father, Dawn eventually told her dad the truth when he was questioned about Malone’s disappearance.

Disaster struck later that year when a woman arrived in the village and announced she was the daughter of the man in the graveyard beneath where they had buried Malone – and she wanted to dig him up.

Wanting to protect his daughter, Will took control of the situation and decided they should re-bury Malone in a secluded spot of land at Home Farm.

Kim later revealed to Will that she’d asked a shady contact to dig up the body and destroy it, meaning that Will and Dawn didn’t need to worry about Malone anymore.

Dawn is being harsh on Will

With all that in mind, fans have rightly pointed out how hypocritical Dawn is being in current Emmerdale storylines.

Will and Kim recently paid Dawn’s mum Rose money to leave the village. Dawn discovered this but pleaded ignorance in an attempt to trick her dad into revealing the truth.

However, when he was more worried about protecting Kim than Rose’s potential demise, Dawn told her dad she didn’t want to see him again. Something which has angered viewers.

“Oh Dawn get off your high horse. You killed someone, hid the body and let Kim sort it for you. You sponge off her and live with your whole family in her home. Whiny mare,” one fan said on X.

While another added: “Dawn is such an ungrateful [bleep], dad literally covered up a murder for her and she’s like ‘I hate you!!!’”

“I don’t remember Dawn being so judgemental when her dad and Kim helped her hide the body of the man she murdered,” said a third fan. With a fourth writing: “Dawn is so ungrateful. Kim and Will have helped her get away with murder (literally), provided a stable home for her to prove she is a good mother to social services, Kim accepted her and the kids as family and in her home and all Dawn can do is moan!”

Will Dawn have a change of heart?

Proceed with caution: Emmerdale MUST NOT kill Moira off in worrying new storyline

In Emmerdale, Moira has been acting erratically for weeks now and we’ve all been wondering – along with Cain – what on earth is wrong with her? There’s been speculation about her health and following a sudden seizure in Tuesday’s episode (August 27), it appears she is suffering from an undiagnosed health problem.

While we’re yet to find out what’s really wrong with Moira, we do know that we definitely don’t want Emmerdale to kill her off.

Here’s everything you need to know about Moira’s recent health woes and predictions for her character in Emmerdale.

    Emmerdale: Moira suffers a seizure

Over recent weeks, Moira’s behaviour has created some concerns from her loved ones. She’s been turning to drink and falling asleep on the sofa, as well as lashing out at Cain regularly.

During Tuesday’s episode, Moira was seen entering the barn alone before she took a funny turn. She collapsed and proceeded to have a seizure in shock scenes.

But, what’s the matter with her?

Does Moira have a brain tumour?

Following Moira’s erratic behaviour and sudden seizure, it seems likely she may be facing health issues. Emmerdale fans have now predicted she could have an undiagnosed brain tumour.

Should this be true, we hope it doesn’t spark the end of Moira – she’s a huge part of Emmerdale!

Fans have been sharing their thoughts on social media, with many hoping soap bosses aren’t planning to kill Moira off in this new storyline.

“If Emmerdale Moira does have a brain tumour I will not be ok. If they kill Moira off I will riot,” one person stated on social media, while a second penned: “Really hope we don’t have to say goodbyes to Moira, or watch Cain lose her! Love this couple.”

A final fan added: “Oh no, I’d heard rumours Moira was leaving. Is this a fatal brain tumour, maybe?”

We have to agree with fans, things are looking rather bleak for our favourite farmer. But, Emmerdale better be careful, because if there are plans to kill off Moira, we won’t be pleased!

Caleb was super helpful when it came to helping with Kyle’s court case, and he well and truly won Moira over with his commitment to the family.

  • Here’s why Kim Tate’s time at Home Farm may just be over

Here’s why Kim Tate’s time at Home Farm may just be over

Home Farm has proven to be a popular place to stay for many Emmerdale residents over recent years, but Kim Tate has now been left in the property nearly alone.

Following the exit of Dawn and Billy, as well as Rose’s disappearance, there’s only Kim and Will left in Home Farm (well, when Kim’s not living it up in Dubai). The house tends to occupied by a family due to its huge size, so could Kim be set to give up her beloved home soon?

Here’s everything you need to know about Home Farm in Emmerdale.

Will Kim Tate leave Home Farm?

Home Farm had been full up until recent weeks. Following plenty of drama, Dawn and Billy have chosen to move out of the house and into Holdgate.

Meanwhile, Rose has disappeared so she’s not currently living there. This leaves just Will and Kim in the house, but Kim is currently away on a work trip.

Home Farm is THE largest property in the village, with it having been home to many families over the years. With the property now only being occupied by two people – who are undoubtedly set to break-up sooner rather than later (oh come on, we can all see it coming) – could we see Kim decide to leave? She did look rather comfortable at the B&B recently…

Or could we see her joined by a new housemate? Any takers?!

Emmerdale's Dawn, Kim, Will and Rose are at Home Farm

Home Farm ownership over the years

Luxurious Home Farm has been home to several families over the years. The first family to ever occupy the property was the Verneys and it was known as Miffield Hall at the time.

The house was then snapped up by NY Estates, who renamed it Home Farm. 10 years later, the first Tate family moved into Home Farm when Frank took ownership of the property. They stayed there until 2005, when the Kings took over. The Wylde family then enjoyed a stint at the house, followed by the Maceys and then the Whites.

However, in 2018, the Tate family took back the property with Joe officially claiming ownership. When Kim returned to the village she took up residence at Home Farm and has remained there ever since.

But… a certain someone has been desperate to build a bigger and better version of Home Farm (cough, cough, Caleb). So, could he soon sweep the huge house away from Kim and claim it as his own?

How extortionate! Emmerdale fans in disbelief over how much it costs to live in the village

Emmerdale fans have been left stunned after finding out much it costs to live in the village. In Tuesday’s episode (August 27), Dawn and Billy got set to move into Holdgate after leaving Home Farm.

During an exchange with Jai, it was revealed exactly how much Dawn and Billy will be forking out on a monthly basis to pay for the property. Fans were left in disbelief by the extortionate figure – and so were we!

In Tuesday’s episode, Dawn and Billy put their plans into action after deciding to move out of Home Farm. Following plenty of drama with Rose, Will and Kim, Dawn decided she wanted to leave the home.

As a result, she and Billy will now be renting Holdgate from Jai. He revealed the property was partly-furnished and ready immediately for the couple and their kids to move into. A quick turnaround then?!

Dawn handed over the signed contract along with a brown envelope containing a WHOPPING £10,000 in cash, stating this would cover four months worth of rent. This means it costs £2,500 per month to live at Holdgate before bills?! Wowzers!

Emmerdale fans react to village rent prices

Emmerdale fans were left shocked by Jai’s rental price for Holdgate Farm, with many surprised to learn it would cost over £2,000 per month to live in the village – before any other bills are added. Taking to social media, dozens of soap viewers pointed out how extortionate the price seemed, especially considering the property is located in a small village.

“£10k for 4 months rent? Meaning £2500 a month for rent! In a village, not a big city nor is it a mansion,” one person wrote on X, while another said: “10k for 4 months rent?”

A third Emmerdale fan added: “Did Dawn just give Jai 10 grand and say that’s 4 months rent?” Meanwhile, a final fan said: “£2,500 a month to live beside the Dingles.”

From friends to enemies? Fans beg for Caleb to scam Jai amid business deal

Emmerdale has seen a lot of scheming as of late – with half the village seeming to be up to something.

Caleb is still forging ahead with his plan to get revenge on Kim, which involves building his own business empire on her doorstep.

Jai, meanwhile, is embroiled in his own scheme – as he is trying to avoid giving wife Laurel anything in their divorce.

The two men have come together in Emmerdale recently, but fans are hoping it’s all a ruse on Caleb’s side and that he’s actually scheming to scam Jai.

    Jai and Caleb team up

Jai has made a lot of enemies in the village recently, so was appreciative to have Caleb as an ally.

During a mediation meeting with Laurel, Jai lied that he was skint and also demanded a share of Laurel’s house in the divorce.

Later, during a meeting with Caleb – who wants to create something to rival Kim’s Home Farm – Jai confirmed his intention to hide money from Laurel by saying: “I’m happy with the warehouse investment. I need to know where the money is going even if the courts don’t.”

Caleb appeared to support the plan, telling Jai to keep acting broke.

However, is there more to the business deal that meets the eye? Some fans think agreeing to go into business with Caleb is a big mistake, with many even hoping Caleb is indeed scheming and does the dirty on him.

And they could be right – with the most recent episode of Emmerdale showing Caleb smirk when Jai wasn’t looking. Is this a clue that Caleb has a secret plan?

Fans beg Caleb to scam Jai

Fans have taken to X to predict Jai’s downfall.

One viewer said: “Really hope Caleb does Jai over, needs to be brought back to reality,” with another agreeing: “Really hoping Caleb scamming Jai good and proper.”

Other viewers can’t believe how stupid Jai is to trust Caleb, with one writing: “Taking advice from Caleb on hiding his cash is one thing but having Caleb involved in hiding his money is beyond stupid imo, letting a fox into a hen house.”

Another fan added: “Jai is so STUPID! Why the HELL would he trust Caleb?” While a third said Jai had done “the dumbest trick by investing all his hidden assets with Caleb.”

Has Jai made a big mistake?

Review of the week: Piper’s alive, Ella’s lashing out, and what is Dawn up to?

This week’s Emmerdale review is an emotional rollercoaster – just like the soap itself! We’ve been pulled every which way this week and frankly we don’t know whether we’re happy, sad or just plain confused!

Read on to find out what’s been leaving our heads in a spin in this week’s Emmerdale review.

    Piper’s alive!

Of course the big revelation this week was that poor Piper, Belle’s beloved pooch, is ALIVE!

We have to admit, we had our suspicions. We’ve been soap fans long enough to know that, in the words of Taylor Swift, ‘no body, no crime’.

But even though we didn’t see Tom run Piper over, we wondered if we were being a bit hopeful. Maybe the soap rules were different for animals. And things did look bleak when Tom brought Piper’s little wicker coffin up to Wishing Well to bury her beside Belle’s Shetland pony, Hamish.

And then! The best twist ever! Piper’s alive! For a second we were thrilled to bits. Except, Tom’s given her away, and Belle still thinks she’s dead. How evil can one man be?! Honestly, THIS is what we mean by an emotional rollercoaster!

    Ella lashes out!

We can’t quite get to grips with how we’re supposed to feel about child killer Ella.

On the one hand, she’s done her time and everyone deserves a second chance. On the other – she doesn’t exactly help herself, does she?!

This week, when Gary – the cousin of her victim, Joanne – turned up at Ella’s birthday celebrations, Ella lost it.

Wendy tried to help but Ella lashed out, giving poor Wendy a huge thump in the face and scaring her. It turned out Ella wanted to be sent back to prison – the only real home she’d ever had.

But on top of our conflicted feelings about Ella, we also felt a bit odd about Liam and Manpreet trying to gaslight a frightened and battered Wendy into withdrawing her statement. Ella may have had her reasons, but she still attacked Wendy.

Maybe we just need to get to know Ella better, but for now, the jury’s out on how we feel about this former jailbird.

    Jai and Laurel’s money battle

Jai and Laurel’s divorce is becoming more acrimonious by the day and this week things took a turn. Except we’re not quite sure what’s going on.

Everyone’s lying and scheming and covering things up and now Caleb seems to be involved and we’re completely baffled.

All we really know is we’re totally Team Laurel!

What’s Dawn up to in our Emmerdale review?

So Rose vanished, Will thinks Kim is responsible, Kim thinks Will did it, and she’s gone off to Dubai which makes Will even more suspicious that she’s the guilty party.

Meanwhile, Will’s sending Dawn messages from Rose’s phone and fretting, while Dawn worries about where her mum is.

    Except.

In Friday’s episode we discovered that Dawn’s been lying. She’s setting Will up for something and we’re not sure who’s in on it? Is this Dawn working with Rose to take revenge on her dad?

Or is it Dawn and Kim who have teamed up? Could Dawn, Kim AND Rose all be in on it? What even is IT? We’re so confused – and looking forward to next week’s episodes when hopefully it’ll all be explained.
