Sadie teases Matthew in Classic Emmerdale
After coming face to face with Sadie again, Matthew is all over the place, especially as Sadie insists she and new man Alasdair are serious about each other.
Matthew and Jimmy head to Oakwell Hall for dinner as guests of the Sinclair-Hydes. Neither can hide their surprise when they see Sadie has been invited too.
Matthew struggles to see Sadie and Alasdair’s closeness and it’s not long before he summons Sadie out of the room. Sadie insists she didn’t know Matthew would be there, but Matthew is sure she just wanted to get one over on him.
Sadie firmly tells Matthew they are over, but it’s clear the chemistry between them still sizzles. Matthew leans in to kiss her, just as Alasdair arrives. They cover what’s been going on, but Sadie is loving the power she has and how uncomfortable Matthew is.

But Carl says he’s already tried proposing and it went wrong! But Shadrach advises him to try again and be smarter about it.
Getting an idea, Carl starts planning, but is nearly caught out when Chas catches him with a video camera. As Chas questions what he’s up to, Carl covers and is relieved when she doesn’t suspect a thing.

Emmerdale tonight saw Zak’s body return to his home as the Dingle family vowed to do him proud. He will be buried tomorrow, so get all the tissues ready!
Meanwhile, Ruby discovered Caleb’s betrayal and, in amongst all the drama, Harriet was mentioned!
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Wednesday October 16.
The Dingles raise a toast to Zak (Credit: ITV)
The Dingles vowed to do Zak proud
Chas and Marlon were trying to plan Zak’s funeral to take their minds off Zak’s death, but it turned out planning a funeral for someone just makes you think about them even more.
Meanwhile, Cain and Sam and the rusty old van made it back from Aberdeen with Zak’s body. Belle wasn’t happy to see her dad thrown in the back of the rickety rust bucket (in a wicker coffin, thankfully), but Cain and Sam revealed Zak had left instructions to bury him within 48 hours, so that was what they were going to do.
Gathering around his coffin, the Dingles raised a glass to Zak. But when it was revealed Zak left a letter for Lydia and not Belle, she was devastated.
The instructions left from Zak were that he must be buried within 48 hours, at home and specifically not next to Shadrach (that bit was in capital letters so he must have meant it!). He also wanted a rowan tree at his head to protect him from the witches, and double underlined – no vicar, no God and no tears. He wanted to be drummed through the village one last time, with a “party to end all parties”.
The Dingles vowed to stay up with Zak all night and at midday tomorrow they will bury him the way he wanted and the way he lived. “We are gonna raise merry hell,” Cain declared.
What a send-off.
Caleb’s lies caught up with him as Ruby round out the truth (Credit: ITV)
Ruby found out Caleb’s betrayal in Emmerdale tonight
Already stroppy for some unknown reason, Ruby‘s day was made even worse when she took delivery of her mother’s ashes. She immediately binned them to wash her hands of her mum.
Seeking solace in a glass of wine in the Woolpack, Ruby offloaded on Chas, who advised Ruby visit the hospital and ask the nurse if she knew anything that Helen said before she died.
And so of course Ruby then found out Caleb had visited her mum before she died. Returning home she skirted around the subject, before confronting Caleb over his deceit. He lied a bit more to cover his tracks, explaining it was all for Ruby, but she kicked him out and told him they were done for good. Yeah, right, until tomorrow night, eh?
The merry-go-round of Will and Kim continued (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale tonight: Kim softened and then didn’t
Standing firm, Kim made sure Will knew her leaning on him yesterday meant nothing. But Will presented her with a bunch of flowers to mark their wedding anniversary. She was grateful and things were definitely thawing, but is it enough to bring them back together?
Kim later cracked open a bottle of fizz to reciprocate his flowers. He hinted at moving things upstairs, but she quickly changed the subject. Then as he casually asked Kim for money for Dawn, her hackles rose. She accused him of trying to charm her for cash rather than because of genuine feelings. Kim then told him in no uncertain terms the Bank of Tate is closed.
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Tough times for Dawn and Billy
Dawn was sad as she only had leftover casserole from Marlon to feed the kids for their tea. Will gave her a bit of cash to do a shop, but Billy wasn’t happy about accepting charity. Dawn was firm they had no choice.
As an aside,we’re still unsure why they are staying in Holdgate – a massive house with massive upkeep costs when surely moving back to Home Farm would be an option now?
Billy lied he has signed Jade up as a client, when actually he’s planning another illegal fight. Meanwhile, Kim told Dawn she was giving her the money and she needed to focus only on Evan.
Moira stood firm
Debbie has decided not to come to the funeral and Moira was not impressed by the news. She apparently can’t face it and wants to remember him in her own way. But Moira was worried about how Cain was handling everything without Debbie’s support.
However, Matty was more concerned with Moira missing her operation. She had already cancelled it though, and begged Matty to understand they’d lost the heart of the family and they need to focus on that.

Harriet was remembered – at last
No one cared much when she actually died (and she didn’t even get an on-screen funeral!) but two years since Harriet died, Will and Dawn remembered her. At last.
They left flowers at the bus stop for her and talked about her fondly. For a minute or two, then they moved on. We’re still waiting for justice for Harriet after all these years.

It’s clear everyone on and off screen at Emmerdale, as well as millions of fans, will miss both Steve and Zak very much. But with the actor having been off screen for long stretches of time, viewers had already started to fear for Zak’s future before Steve passed away.
In real life, Steve underwent a secret health battle in 2018 after a mysterious absence from screens. And prior to this he had been open about his mental health struggles too.

Emmerdale star Steve Halliwell dies aged 77
The soap released a statement on December 15, 2023 confirming the Zak Dingle actor had died “peacefully”.
It said: “It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that Emmerdale can confirm that Steve Halliwell, our beloved Zak Dingle, has peacefully passed away.
“All our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones through this very difficult time, and we’d request that their privacy is respected as they grieve for his loss.”
They continued: “Steve will forever be synonymous with Emmerdale. The proud defender and head of the Dingle family. Heart and humour in all he did, it has been and always will be impossible not to smile when you think of him.”
His family also shared a moving tribute.
“He went to sleep, peacefully with his loved ones around him,” they said.
“He was making us laugh to the end, the most amazing father and grandfather you could ever wish for, family was everything to him. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at St James Hospital and the Wheatfield Hospice for their love and kindness in his final days. He didn’t want sadness, just to rejoice in a life well lived.”
A cause of death has never been confirmed for Steve.

Emmerdale star Steve Halliwell and his ongoing health battles
Steve was absent from Emmerdale in 2018 due to health concerns. After five months off screen the actor explained why Zak had really been missing. He was rushed to hospital for a life-or-death operation on his heart.
The Sun Online revealed that the Lancashire-born actor had a pacemaker fitted in September 2018, after suffering serious heart problems.
At the time the actor told the newspaper’s website: “I’m back at work in a few weeks and feeling fitter than ever after having a pacemaker fitted in September. It’s done me the world of good and I feel fantastic.”
He went on to say how understanding and “brilliant” his employers had been, revealing: “Emmerdale has been brilliant throughout and really looked after me.
The actor made no secret of the fact he had suffered with his mental health in the past. In 2003, Steve took a break from Emmerdale as he checked into rehab to get help for his alcohol issues.
In 2014 he told The Mirror: “There’s depression, drinking and having to fight your way out of situations. I’ve lived all those things – and more.”
Steve had also experienced other struggles in his life. He told TV Times in a past interview: “Everything the Dingles had been through, I had too – trouble with the police, fighting, being evicted. And if there were any aspects of Zak’s life I hadn’t lived, I knew people who had.”
Before he won the role of Zak Dingle Steve was once homeless. He was also arrested for sleeping rough. He told the publication he was “so hungry and got very thin”.
Steve revealed: “Back then, it was illegal to be homeless and I was arrested for sleeping in an empty Government building.” He spent two weeks on remand in Ashford prison.
The actor was also arrested after a gang incident. He took the blame for a brick being thrown through an off-licence window. He then spent three months in a detention centre.

Worries for Zak Dingle in Emmerdale
Before Steve passed away in December, viewers had been concerned for Steve’s health. The character appeared less and less on screen and looked more and more frail.
Zak had spent much time in Scotland with granddaughter Debbie. He was last seen on screen back in June 2023 when he revealed his health was declining. Cain was the only one who knew about his dad’s health struggles after finding him on the floor unable to get up.
This sparked fears for Zak with fans commenting:Â “Zak is getting more and more frail,” and another adding:Â “Poor Zak’s a mere slip of a man compared to the beast he was when he first arrived in the village.”
A third viewer worried: “Zak looks extremely ill.”

Zak’s death in Emmerdale
Despite his passing December 2023, Emmerdale waited to pay tribute to Steve Halliwell on screen. They are now honouring his life as the Dingles celebrate 30 years in the village.
Earlier this month Cain went to Scotland after learning his dad was ill. He returned on Monday October 14 saying Zak was feeling much better.
However moments after his return, Debbie called and revealed Zak had died. He had been out poaching that morning and told Debbie it was the best morning ever. Zak then fell asleep in his chair and didn’t wake up.
As Cain broke the news to the Dingles on Tuesday October 15, there was not a dry eye in the house. Many fans called it the ‘best episode ever’. Bravo Emmerdale, bravo.

Harriet Finch died two years ago in Emmerdale and has pretty much been forgotten about ever since her death.
The poor woman didn’t even get an on-screen funeral and we’ve been begging for justice since this moment.
Here’s everything you need to know about Harriet – the character the show seems desperate to forget. But, don’t worry, she’ll always live on in our heads.
Harriet was a vicar in the Dales (Credit: ITV/ Shutterstock)
Harriet Finch: Police officer turned vicar
Arriving in the Dales in 2013, Harriet hid her huge past history from her fellow villagers which was only revealed years later.
She had been a detective sergeant who went by the name of ‘Michelle’ whilst being an undercover cop for five years. During this time, she’d faked a relationship with drug dealer Will Taylor and had been a mum figure to a young Dawn before leaving the family abruptly.
With Will arrested, she then started an affair with DI Mark Malone…
Entering the Dales, Harriet ditched her days in the police force and instead became the village vicar. But, she wasn’t the most moral of vicars, that’s for sure!
Relationship history
Harriet’s initial days in the village saw her have a brief fling with Dom Andrews. However, after Harriet took his phone off him so she could kiss him on the night of Dom’s daughter – Gemma’s – death, they were doomed to fail.
In 2014, Harriet then dated fellow vicar Ashley Thomas. A few years later though, Harriet turned her attention towards bad boy, Cain Dingle. Quite the unexpected pairing!
Starting an affair with Cain in 2017, Cain confessed his feelings for Harriet after two drug dealers stabbed her. Cain almost had Ross Barton killed due to his involvement in the situation.
Ultimately though, Cain reunited with Moira after the birth of Isaac. It’s safe to say that Harriet wasn’t happy, believing that Cain was only getting back with Moira to protect her after Emma Barton’s death.
Moving on, Harriet started a relationship with her former flame, Will Taylor. But, this got her into a very sticky situation indeed!

Emmerdale: Harriet Finch and DI Malone
In 2020, DI Malone revealed himself to be the leader of Will’s old gang – and it turned out that he still possessed his gun. Harriet remained unaware of this link though.
Malone started threatening Will to work for him again, with Will going behind Harriet’s back to do some dodgy business for Malone.
Things got really sinister when Malone tried to convince Dawn to take a fatal overdose. Harriet intervened and knocked Malone on the head with an ornament.
She thought that she killed him but it was only as Malone started to stir that Dawn realised that he was still alive, shooting him three times and finishing him off.
Harriet then helped Dawn bury Malone’s body, with Will later teaming up to make sure that no traces of the killing would come back to his family.
Emmerdale: Harriet Finch death
In 2022, after Will and Harriet’s eventual split, Will prepared to marry Kim Tate.
However, Harriet still had feelings for Will and wanted to change his mind about going through with the wedding.
On Will and Kim’s wedding day, and on the soap’s 50th anniversary, a big storm hit the Dales. With a young and pregnant Amelia missing, Harriet jumped on a quadbike and entered the woods, looking for her.
Sadly, she crashed her bike in the storm. A lightning strike then hit the bike and it exploded, with Harriet dying as a result. Brutal stuff.

Katherine Dow Blyton on soap exit
Poor Harriet was killed off in an awful way and didn’t get much of a tribute after her death. Whilst she did get a bus stop made in her memory (and Liv Flaherty’s), she didn’t even get an on-screen funeral. And, the village really didn’t take much time in getting over their grief for the former vicar.
Speaking to Soap from the Box, it seems that actress Katherine Dow Blyton also didn’t feel like Harriet had the best treatment at the end.
The star shared: “Why did the 50th have to be such a tragic outcome?”
Speaking out about the moment she first found out about Harriet’s fate, Katherine added: “I went up and they basically said: ‘We love Harriet and we’re going to give her a good death.’ I did sit there for 10 seconds thinking, have I done something wrong? They say don’t take it personally, but it’s impossible not to.
“I was taken aback. I said, ‘No, that’s fine, that’s fine.’ I said: ‘Well you don’t know what to do with me anyway, do you?’ I kept trying to get out of the building. Then I sat in my car and burst into tears because it was a shock.”

Katie Sugden arrived in Emmerdale in 2001 and quickly caused trouble between brothers Andy and Robert Sugden.
Her relationship with Andy was a major focus point for most of her time in the village, until her untimely death in 2015.
As Katie takes centre stage in Classic Emmerdale episodes following the car crash that killed her father, we take a look at her time in the Dales.

The arrival of Katie in Emmerdale and her teen romance with Andy
Katie Addyman, as she was then known, was brought into the soap as a love interest for Andy Sugden. She met Andy when they were in detention together at school and they soon started dating.
Despite Robert trying to come between them, Katie and Andy’s relationship became serious really quickly. While their friends were out enjoying their youth, Katie and Andy decided they wanted to settle down and have a baby. Katie fell pregnant, but later had a miscarriage.
Andy proposed to Katie when they were both just 16 and she accepted. When Andy turned 17, he took over Butler’s Farm and he and Katie moved in together. The couple broke up and reunited several times during her time in Emmerdale.
Robert was jealous of his brother’s relationship (Credit:ITV/Shutterstock)
Affair with Robert
After feeling neglected due to Andy spending his time on the farm or caring for half-brother Daz, Katie started an affair with Andy’s brother Robert. They were seen by Daz, who told Andy. However, Katie told Andy that Daz was lying and persuaded him to put Daz back into care.
Katie ended her affair with Robert and married Andy in 2004. But she grew jealous when Robert started dating her friend Donna so the affair soon started up again. This time they were caught by Andy and Robert’s little sister Victoria. Eventually, Katie and Robert came clean to Andy, who was understandably devastated.
Katie and Robert got engaged, but it was short lived due to him having an affair with Sadie King. Following this, Katie and Andy had a one night stand before she left the village for a while.
Katie ended up in hospital following a car crash (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Car accident and dad’s death
In 2006, as Katie’s next of kin, Andy received the news that Katie had been involved in a car crash. Despite their history, Andy chose to be at Katie’s bedside.
When she woke from her coma, Andy had to deliver the news that her dad had died in the car accident. Katie was devastated and leaned on Andy during her recovery.
Andy and Katie reconciled and decided to give their marriage another go, much to the annoyance of Daz, who in a desperate bid to split them up, even tried to seduce her. But he needn’t have worried, as Andy started an affair with Jo Stiles and he and Katie separated – again – in 2007.

Surrogacy and being held at gunpoint
Katie offered to be a surrogate for business partner Perdita, who couldn’t have children, despite having feelings for Perdita’s husband Grayson. She got pregnant, but then threatened to have an abortion after Perdita went off with Matthew King.
Katie begun an intimate relationship with Grayson, but when she discovered he had been lying to her, she conned money out of him.
She gave birth to the baby in the back of Matthew’s car. Katie then signed parental rights over to Perdita and also gave her the money she’d got from Grayson, so that Perdita could start a new life in London.
Grayson was furious when he found out. He held Katie at gunpoint and demanded she tell him where Perdita was. Katie refused to tell him, so he took the King brothers hostage too and ended up shooting Carl.
This wasn’t the only time Katie was held at gunpoint. It happened again when dodgy copper Nick Henshall became obsessed with her. After starting the fire that killed Terry Woods and Viv Hope, he tried to frame Katie’s ex, Andy, to get him out the way. With the net closing in, he took Katie hostage, but ended up killing himself instead.

Emmerdale: Katie Sugden and her marriage to Declan Macey and quad bike crash
Declan proposed to Katie three times before she accepted. Their marriage didn’t get off to the best start when Declan’s half-sister Megan, who disapproved of Katie, pushed Katie’s face into the wedding cake.
Following their wedding, Declan discovered that Katie set Megan’s son Robbie up to attack her. He rode off on a quad bike, with Katie following behind. She accused him of changing her for the worst. Katie rode off in anger and fell down a disused mine shaft.
A full scale rescue mission took place and Katie was eventually found days later in a critical condition. In hospital she went into cardiac arrest before being resuscitated. She was eventually able to return home. However, she collapsed and returned to hospital where she discovered she had damaged her ovaries due to injuring her pelvis during the accident. She was left infertile and unable to have children.
Declan told Katie that it didn’t matter, but secretly he had wanted a son to inherit his fortune. Declan cheated on Katie with Charity, causing Katie and Declan to temporarily break up. They later got back together, but the relationship was tempestuous and Katie eventually moved back in with Andy.

Katie’s death
Katie remarried Andy on Christmas Day in 2014, but she was angered to discover that Robert had sabotaged their wedding rings. He engraved insults on the rings, referring to Andy as “village idiot” and Katie as “village bike”.
She was determined to get revenge on Robert and she thought she had her chance when she discovered flirty text messages on his phone from “A”, despite being in a relationship with Chrissy.
Following an invitation from Aaron Dingle, Katie arrived at Wylie’s Farm and caught him kissing Robert, thus discovering who the mysterious A was. Katie took a picture of the two of them as evidence.
Aaron left and Katie confronted Robert over the affair. He turned aggressive and snatched her phone. Robert then refused to let Katie leave unless she promised not to tell Chrissy. Katie charged at Robert and he pushed her to the ground. The floor gave way causing Katie to fall to her death. Andy later went to the farm to look for Katie and discovered her body. He broke down in tears as he cradled her in his arms.
Who played Katie Sugden in Emmerdale?
Katie was played by actress Sammy Winward. She was only a teenager when she landed the role in Emmerdale.
Sammy was engaged to footballer David Dunn and the pair had a daughter together, Mia, in 2005. They split soon after and she went on to marry Martyn Hardy in 2017, who she has known since her school days.
Since leaving Emmerdale, Sammy has appeared in some ITV dramas, most notably Prey, Fearless and The Long Shadow – which also starred Sammy’s Emmerdale co-star Charley Webb.

Cain broke the news that Zak Dingle has passed away last night in Emmerdale, and fans have been full of praise.
He told each Dingle individually, breaking the news to them whilst music played over the top of these scenes.
Fans have now hailed Tuesday’s episode (October 15), the ‘best episode of Emmerdale ever’ – and we don’t blame them!

Cain broke the news of Zak death to the Dingles
This week in the Dales, Moira received a phone call from Debbie. She then found out that Zak Dingle had sadly passed away.
Once Cain found out the news, he then made it his job as the new head of the family to tell each Dingle the sad news last night.
First telling Belle and Sam, Cain then continued to make his through the family as he broke the news to each household of the Dingle clan individually.
However, these scenes had music playing over the top which meant that the Dingles’ reactions to the news could only be seen and not heard – a beautiful moment.
The family then came together to support each other as Cain set off in the Dingle van to bring Zak’s body home from Scotland. Sobs.

Louise Appleton definitely made her mark on the village when she arrived in Emmerdale back in 2001. She joined the team at The Woolpack as a barmaid and quickly got to know all of the locals.
Louise regularly found herself involved in drama in the Dales, whether it be a murder or breaking up a relationship. She was last seen on-screen in 2008, but has been mentioned on a handful of occasions.
So, what is Louise Appleton’s story?

Louise Appleton arrives in Emmerdale
The locals were taken by surprise in 2001 when Louise, who hails from Australia, arrived in Emmerdale. She took up a job as a temporary barmaid at The Woolpack and quickly befriended Diane Sugden.
Louise’s stint in the village began with her dating Rodney Blackstock. Their romance was short-lived as Rodney was still besotted with his ex-wife Diane. When Louise found out Diane and Rodney had slept together, she ended her romance with Rodney but forgave Diane.

Ray Mullan’s murder
Louise dated shady businessman Ray Mullan and their relationship was packed full of drama. Having quickly moved in together, Louise was smitten with Ray. However, he wasn’t the man she thought he was.
In a bid to control Louise, he convinced her she was being stalked so that she would agree to move to Italy with him. On their way to the airport, Louise found out Ray was actually her stalker.
A fight ensued between the pair and the car crashed. Ray was knocked unconscious and Louise fled back to Mill Cottage. Ray woke and followed her and another fight broke out. It ended with Louise killing Ray by accident on Boxing Day in 2002. With the help of Terry Woods, Louise concealed his death.
She struggled in the aftermath of Ray’s murder and became withdrawn and cold towards her friends, most notably Diane. Louise then began seeing married man Ronnie Marsden, leaving everyone unimpressed.

Louise and Terry’s on-off relationship
Terry was besotted with Louise since meeting her, but his feelings weren’t reciprocated. However, Louise became jealous when Terry moved on with Dawn Hope and eventually realised she did have feelings for him.
Terry and Louise finally started dating after he dumped Dawn. The couple decided to buy Alan Turner’s B&B together. However, Louise began an affair with Matthew King, who was helping organise the couples mortgage.
She eventually dumped Terry in a bid to be with Matthew, but he ended their fling days later. Terry refused to take Louise back.

Finding love with Martin
Louise first crossed paths with police officer Martin Crowe at a karate class, and it wasn’t long until romance blossomed between the pair.
Louise struggled to establish a relationship with Martin’s daughter Kayleigh, despite the youngster being fond of her. The couple were happy up until Martin discovered Louise’s involvement in Ray’s death.
He vowed not to report Louise but ended their relationship and moved out of The Woolpack. She blamed Diane for their split and sold her share of the pub as a way of punishing Diane.

Louise and Jamie in Emmerdale
In 2008, Louise began dating Jamie Hope. Their romance became a huge talking point in the village due to their age-gap, but they shrugged off the backlash.
Jamie proposed to Louise after just months of dating and they decided to get married at Christmas. She called off the wedding after Jamie questioned her about a friend in Australia called Jonty, who people had thought she was having an affair with.
Louise insisted that she’d won a beauty contest while in Australia and Jonty was her manager. Jonty then came to the village and after promising Louise more work, she agreed to head back to Oz with him.
Louise’s exit
On the day of Louise’s planned departure to Australia, Jamie tried to track her down in a bid to win her back. He eventually found her and proposed to her again.
Jamie and Louise rekindled their relationship and decided to jet to Australia together. They left for good in 2008.
Jamie returned in June 2009 without Louise. He claimed she had found a new man and dumped him.

The Dingles pay tribute to Zak in Emmerdale spoilers
1. Zak’s family pay their respects
Chas turns the Woolpack into a place of mourning as the Dingles remember the much-loved Zak.

Emmerdale tonight was all about the Dingles as news of Zak’s death spread. In poignant and moving scenes we saw a family in trauma pull together and be there for each other. Not a scene was out of place and thankfully, Emmerdale got this just right.
Here’s a recap of what happened in Emmerdale tonight, Tuesday October 15.
Zak’s death news hit the Dingles hard (Credit: ITV)
The Dingles found out about Zak
Tonight was the night the Dingles discovered Zak had died. The family gathered at the homestead as the news broke and each other them dealt with it differently. But one thing was for sure: they all supported each other in the way only Dingles can.
Cain stepped up in Emmerdale tonight
News of Zak’s death was slowly sinking in with Cain, who was silent and struggling. More details emerged as Moira revealed Debbie said Zak had been out poaching that morning and had had “the best morning ever” before falling asleep in his chair with a grin on his face. But he never woke up.
Cain knew he had to break the news to everyone in person and set out across the village to deliver the worst. In a beautiful sequence of scenes, we didn’t hear him telling each family member, we just saw it accompanied by solemn piano music. It was emotional, tears flowed, but there was a lovely sense of calm. Bravo Emmerdale for making the best of this heartbreaking story.
And even Monty the dog got his moment, as both Belle and Cain hugged him. Aw!
As the village arrived at Wishing Well to send their condolences to the family, Zak and Cain drove away in the rickety old van to bring Zak home where he belonged.

Sam and Belle bonded
Before they discovered what had happened, Sam wanted to get Belle out in the fresh air – he was taking her animal snaring. They went out to their dad’s favourite place, which was poignant since news hadn’t yet reached them of Zak’s death. But Belle wasn’t best pleased when she discovered they were trapping rabbits and tried to rescue them!
She the confided in Sam that she was worried Zak would be disappointed in her – they way she let Tom control her and grind her down. Sam insisted she had not let her dad down – she never could.
As they were walking back from the fields, Cain was waiting to tell them the awful news.
Belle later disappeared and Sam and Cain found her outside. The three siblings looked out over the view and talked about Zak, drawing strength from each other. Sam felt Zak had been with them in the forest while they were snaring. But will that help him make peace with the situation?

Chas struggled to cope
It was Chas who took the news particularly hard. Unable to be in the room with the family while they grieved, Chas pretended she was going back to work, but she was also unable to be in the Woolpack with all the hustle and bustle there. Liam found her crying at the allotment and insisted on taking her for a walk.
She confided about how fierce Zak was when he was young, how they all went to him when they needed anything and how he was like a dad to her.
Liam was desperate to support Chas, but then Ella called and he didn’t answer. The moment got confused as Liam announced he wanted to be with Chas – but it was unclear how he meant it (or very clear depending on how you look at it!). Chas couldn’t handle it though and told him to go to Ella. WHEN will these two just admit how they feel?
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Kim was distraught over Zak’s death (Credit: ITV)
Will and Kim grew closer
Will had arrived to ask for a loan, but he found Kim in tears over Zak’s death. He offered her a comforting hug and she melted into Will’s arms. They talked about Zak and he stayed, hugging her some more. He even had the good sense not to ask for the money he’d come crawling for.
Moira made a decision in Emmerdale tonight
She has decided she is not having the operation tomorrow. Matty was horrified, but Moira insisted she couldn’t risk Cain losing his wife less than 24 hours after Zak. Is she making the right decision?
