‘Victoria has a good old nosy through John’s van’ Isabel Hodgins tells us what she finds!

In Emmerdale, Victoria Sugden is delighted to have discovered a new half-brother, John. But John’s prickly nature and love of keeping secrets isn’t going down well with family-loving Vic.

We caught up with Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria, to find out how she’s feeling about the new member of her family.

“I think she’s very happy,” Isabel tells us. “I think she’s been on her own for quite a while. Emmerdale can be a lonely place when you haven’t got any family. So I think she’s thrilled that she’s finally got another Sugden around.”

    Slow burner!

Though John was initially desperate to leave the village, he seems to be settling in. Does that mean he’s starting to warm to his new-found sister?

“I think ever so slightly,” laughs Isabel. “He’s a slow, he’s a slow burner that one. So it’s taken a while, but he’s starting to come around. But he really doesn’t care about the Sugdens. He’s very much thinking that he’s staying in the village until he can drive off in his van.”

And Victoria is the opposite! “She doesn’t care what’s going on as long as he stays,” admits Isabel. “I think that leaves her open to getting hurt. She’s not that bothered, actually, if he’s a good guy or not, or, you know, how he receives her because he’s not that warm. He’s not that friendly, but he’s a Sugden and he’s there. And that’s all that matters.”

John and Victoria look strained as they speak

    Family secrets

But Victoria is nothing, but not determined!

“So on this particular day, Vic’s kind of twisted John’s arm already to get him in the pub to show him some old pictures,” explains Isabel. “And she’s going through it, he’s really not interested and he’s really not bothered.  And she’s getting nothing from John. He’s not interested. So she grabs his phone. She completely disrespects his boundaries, standard. And she sees that there’s quite a few texts off Aaron. And she sees that one is of a particular nature!”

So how does Vic feel about that?

“She’s very shocked to see that!” says Isabel. “So she asks him what’s going on, why is Aaron messaging you like that? I think she’s shocked because she’s now got this relationship with Aaron where it’s back to Victoria and Aaron rather than Aaron being with Robert. First and foremost at the minute, Aaron is her friend. So there’s a little sense of betrayal there as in how could he be doing this to me when he’s my friend?”

And she adds that there is another layer to how Vic is feeling. “Aaron has been involved with Robert and Aaron is a bit of a liability,” Isabel tells us. “If John and Aaron continue to see each other and it goes wrong, John’s going to leave the village. And that’s the last thing that she wants.

“She wants to get to know him and she’d love for him to open up to her. And I just think it’s like blow after blow after blow of going, oh, he really doesn’t consider me as family because he doesn’t confide in me. So I just think it’s constant frustration that she’s not really getting anywhere with him.”

Emmerdale: John’s keeping more secrets from Victoria!

John’s been keeping secrets already – he didn’t tell Vic he’d been in the army, then didn’t tell her he was a medic until it was revealed during the fire. And so, Victoria ends up snooping round his van…

“I swear it is an accident,” laughs Isabel. “Because of how she behaved in the pub. So she goes to his van to find him and apologise, and would you believe the doors open? And she has a little snoop. And, you know, I’m a little sister in real life and we snoop. It’s what we do! She comes across some of his belongings and she has a good old nosy and she finds a dog tag with Aidan Moore on it.”

But of course, this is Emmerdale so as soon as Vic finds the tag, John arrives.

John finds Victoria snooping in his van
John’s angry with Vic when he finds her in the van (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale: John angry at Victoria!

“He is angry with her, but she is suspicious because she’s just either been drip fed or found everything out by accident. And so I just think she wants the chance to be able to have a  frank conversation.”

And what if John’s done something terrible? Would Victoria still want to know him?

” I think so,” Isabel muses. “Because, you know, Andy did questionable things. Robert did questionable things and she stood by them through whatever. So I think she’d be the same in John’s case.”

So is Isabel pleased to have another Sugden in the village? “It’s been really nice because obviously when I first came into it, there were so many of us and it was always seen as all around the table having breakfast and stuff. And as the years have gone on, the numbers have dwindled. So it’s nice to try and re-establish the Sugden family and the Sugden connection, really. So I’ve really enjoyed it.”

    Steph snaps

With Terence sticking around, it’s making Steph feel even more on edge. She has a run-in with her brother in the street and immediately takes it out on Adam. She tells him this is all his fault as he dragged up the abuse when she’d spent so many years trying to hide and forget it.

    Simon isn’t sure about Nicola

With his money troubles mounting, Simon is surprised to see his old flame Natasha Abbott. He later reports to his mum that she is paying him back the £3000 she owes him, plus an extra £2000 as a thank you. Lesley insists Simon needs to tell Nicola so it can fix their relationship, but will he?

Simon later confides in his mum that things aren’t right with Nicola. He hates how materialistic she is and wishes their union was based on love not money. Lesley thinks he shouldn’t give up and should fight for Nicola. Can they figure this out?

Later, Victoria confronts John in The Woolpack about his secret relationship. But as usual, John doesn’t want to discuss it and storms out of the pub. What else is he hiding? Well, Victoria is about to find out…

Emmerdale teases life-threatening storyline as an ambulance arrives in the village next week

It seems at least one character will likely be rushed to hospital in upcoming Emmerdale scenes. The soap has teased a mystery spoiler confirming an ambulance arrives in the village next week.

With plenty currently going on in the Dales, from Moira’s brain tumour diagnosis to Belle‘s ongoing struggles with abusive husband Tom, there’s many possible reasons why paramedics are called to the village.

An ambulance arrives in the village

A cryptic spoiler image shows an ambulance parked up in the Dales, but the vehicle is not in the main village. Instead, however, it is parked in nearby field. The ambulance’s blue flights are flashing, signalling an emergency has occurred.

The spoiler, believed to be for the episode airing on Friday, September 27, simply reads: “An ambulance arrives in the village…”

Soap bosses have kept all other details under wraps, therefore there are no further spoilers for the episode in question.

    Who could be in danger?

There’s plenty of possible reasons why an ambulance is in Emmerdale village next week. In the days leading up to the emergency, two residents in particular are believed to be in danger.

Eric has a health scare at the GP surgery next week. He suffers an angina attack, but thankfully John is nearby and comes to his rescue, managing to prevent the attack. Could the ambulance be called for Eric?

Meanwhile, Belle faces another showdown with estranged husband Tom as the domestic abuse storyline continues. Following chats with Lydia, Belle wonders whether to report Tom to the police in next week’s episodes.
Later, she manages to convince Amelia to meet up with her and invites her to the Dingles’ for a chat. As Belle waits for Amelia, Tom lets himself into the house and locks the door, leaving Belle horrified. Tom conceals the exit and as a result, Belle has no way out of the property.

  • Review of the week: Kim’s taking things too far, more Miligans in the offing, and Nate’s alive!

Review of the week: Kim’s taking things too far, more Miligans in the offing, and Nate’s alive!

Our Emmerdale review this week is mostly just full of confusion. After the thrills and spills of last week’s barn fire, it’s been a bit quieter, a bit baffling, and we have to admit – a bit disappointing.

Here’s what’s been leaving us wanting in this week’s Emmerdale review.

Will Taylor finds a mannequin dressed like Kim Tate in the woods in Emmerdale
Like a twisted game of Taskmaster, Kim’s revenge sent Will hunting through the woods for clues (Credit: ITV)

    Kim’s terrible revenge

First up, we need to talk about Kim Tate and her overly elaborate revenge on cheating husband Will.

Because WHAT on earth, was that?

Just to recap. Will cheated with his ex, Rose and thought he’d got away with it. But unbeknownst to him, Kim had worked it all out.

In the meantime, Will got a mysterious message from a mysterious blackmailer, demanding £10k to keep his secret. He sold his precious watch – the one Kim had bought him as a wedding present – for the cash. But when he was on his way to the drop-off, he found out about the barn fire and went to help, getting injured in the process.

Anyhoo, that didn’t sit right with his blackmailer, who then upped the price to £50k and nicked Kim’s horse too. And then finally Kim herself vanished. A frantic Will had to follow strange instructions and the distant strains of Fleetwood Mac to find his kidnapped wife.

It was like some weird, twisted version of Taskmaster, as he was forced to dig a grave, spurred on by a recording of Kim’s voice shouting for help. And what did he uncover? A coffin with his own name on it. Seriously who has the time or the energy to set all that up?

Kim Tate tells Will Taylor her horse has been stolen in Emmerdale
Kim’s got a grave to dig and a coffin to buy (Credit: ITV)

    Surprised? Nope.

Well, we were about to find out! Because the blackmailer appeared and what do you know? It was Kim all along! Hands up if you were surprised? No? Neither were we.

What we were surprised about, though, was the HUGE amount of effort Kim put into this ridiculous revenge plot. Buying a coffin with Will’s name on it, and burying it. Dressing a mannequin up as herself. Laying the trail for him to follow… the whole thing was ridiculously complicated, time-consuming, expensive and totally bonkers (and not in a good way!).

If we’re being honest, it was all very unlike Kim. Ms Tate is the mastermind behind a business empire. She is no fool.

She wanted to make Will pay, which is really no less than he deserves, the big wally. We get that.

But we reckon she’d  have done it in a cold, calculating Kim kind of way. Not this elaborate prank that served no purpose – Kim’s better than that!

Caleb and Ruby are the executors of Helen's will (Credit: ITV)
Caleb and Ruby have a daughter! (Credit: ITV)

    More Miligans!

The biggest news of this week, though, was Caleb and Ruby talking about their daughter Stephanie! She was mentioned by Ruby’s dying mum, Helen, and then by Caleb and Ruby.

Obviously, we’re now desperate to meet her and to find out what they did that made her cut them off!

Ruby and Caleb are a great addition to Emmerdale (when Caleb’s not weirdly fixating on Kim that is) and we’re really enjoying finding out more about Ruby’s back story especially. Though we love Sharon Maughan and we’re sad we didn’t get to see Helen and Ruby together.

But like we said, now we’re eager to find out more about Stephanie and hopefully meet her too. In fact, we’re busy putting together a wishlist of actresses who could play her. Watch this space!

    Nate’s alive!

One disappointment this week was finding out that Nate is alive! We didn’t wish him dead, but his exit seemed so brutal and unfair, we were convinced he was really another victim of the fire.

We pictured Cain calling his son, ready to apologise, only for the camera to focus on the phone ringing out as Nate lay unconscious nearby. We imagined his final hours – once someone (probably Mack, let’s be honest) had found him. Nate in a hospital bed, Cain and Tracy waiting to say sorry for the awful things they said. And then the long beep as his life slipped away… SOB!

But instead we got a half-hearted mention of him settling into his new life in Shetland. Is that really it?

Ruby’s got regrets, Will’s staying put and Moira’s made a big decision – here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight

Emmerdale tonight saw Moira make a big decision about her treatment for her brain tumour. She’d been adamant that she wasn’t going to have the surgery, but after the dramatic events of this week, she’s changed her mind.

Meanwhile, a battered Will returned to Home Farm, Arthur was giving Laurel a headache, and Ruby was having regrets about her family situation.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Friday September 20.

Will looks worried on Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)

    Bad Will hunting

Like a couple of mismatched detectives in a Sunday-night thriller, Lydia and Jimmy were off hunting for Will in the woods. As they tried to find Will using his phone tracker, Lydia took the opportunity to take a few digs at Jimmy’s support of his abusive nephew Tom (good work, Lyds). But her shade was interrupted when they came across Will, who’d crawled out of his grave.

Gazing at the grave with Will’s coffin inside and his exhausted, filthy mate, Jimmy came to the belated conclusion that the blackmailer meant business. As a detective, Jimmy makes a great lorry driver.

Will and Kim are over in Emmerdale tonight

As Will made it home, he confronted his unrepentant wife about what she’d done – and what he’d done with Rose.

The pair picked over the bones of their marriage, and Kim demanded Will sign the papers giving her back ownership of everything in his name. But Will refused. He told her bluntly they weren’t separating. Yeah, good luck with that, Will. Kim always gets her own way in the end.

And then he asked the question we’ve all been wanting to ask. Why didn’t Kim just ask him if he’d cheated? Why go to the lengths of pretending her horse had been stolen, or Kim was kidnapped?

But Kim had the answer ready – she said Will had proved she meant nothing to him. Ouch.

Will dug his heels in and refused to go. But when he admitted he’d signed over his life, or his share of the haulage yard at least, to Caleb, Kim wasn’t impressed. Though where else she thought he’d get £50k in a hurry we don’t know.

Still refusing to sign the paperwork, Will left. And Kim took off her wedding ring. Seems it’s really over!

Caleb and Ruby are the executors of Helen's will (Credit: ITV)

    Family ties

Emotional Ruby begged Caleb to talk about Stephanie, revealing more about their relationship with the daughter they’d never mentioned before this week. Ruby said losing her mum had made her think of Steph. She said if she’d died in the fire, Stephanie wouldn’t have known how much she loves her, and she was tearful as she talked about her daughter.

But by the end of the episode, Ruby had decided not to call her daughter after all, meaning we’re going to have to wait a bit longer before Steph inevitably shows up in the village!

    Emmerdale's Arthur is smiling

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

    Jai made a move

Arthur was defiant after being caught drinking with the date he met online, lashing out at his mum and Jai. Laurel tried to calm him down and tell him she just worried about him, and that he was too young to be on dating apps.

With the air cleared between mum and son – almost – he warned Laurel that Jai was trying to worm his way back into the family. And he was proved right later when Jai made a move on Laurel – and she threw him out. Yay, Laurel!

    Moira made a decision

Worried Moira was shocked when Cain admitted he’d told their boys how to call an ambulance in an emergency. And she was grateful that little Isaac had got help after she’d had a seizure. She told her relieved husband that she’d decided to go ahead with the surgery after all. Let’s hope it’s the right decision.

  • Fans work out Billy’s secret ‘mate’ – and it’s not Kim

Fans work out Billy’s secret ‘mate’ – and it’s not Kim

If there’s one thing Emmerdale loves it’s a secretive phone call and now it’s Billy Fletcher making them – but the question is: to who?

Speculation so far has everyone convinced he’s been working with Kim to blackmail Will. But one key moment last night suggested this was a red herring and he’s not working with her at all.

Instead, a new theory puts someone else behind it – and it’s someone we know very well indeed…

    Billy keeps secrets in Emmerdale

Last night (Thursday September 20) Kim was revealed to be Will’s blackmailer. It was the most anticlimactic reveal ever given most of us had already worked it out. But what wasn’t clear was who had dug that massive grave for her and put the coffin in – surely she must have had an accomplice?

All viewer eyes were then on Billy, when he started acting shiftily. It seemed too convenient when he made excuses to Dawn that he had a last minute PT client booked and had to dash.

But he dropped his bag and when Dawn checked in it, she found a wad of crisp notes. It instantly raised her hackles because they have been struggling to pay their bills. So why would Billy sit on so much cash instead of helping the family out.

She confronted him and he made up an excuse about wanting to surprise her with a holiday. He insisted he had been saving up from his PT clients payments for a while.

Dawn bought it, but told him no holiday until they’d paid their bills. Billy agreed before making another secretive phone call asking for more work – whatever was going, he didn’t mind.

So we know it’s not PT work as this is definitely dodgy. But what we don’t know is who the person on the other end of the line was.

    Who was Billy calling?

Although many are convinced he’s Kim’s righthand man, in fact, we think he gave the game away when he called the person ‘Mate’. Come on, who in their right mind would call Kim Tate ‘mate’? Definitely not if they valued their body parts!

So that leads us to wonder who else it could be and some fans have come up with a clever theory: it’s none other than Ross Barton.

“Could Billy be involved with Ross?!” wrote one on social media. Another also questioned: “Is Billy’s partner in crime going to be Ross Barton?”

“What if the person Billy was calling is Ross?” queried one more.

    Ross Barton returning to Emmerdale

The comeback of Ross Barton was teased earlier this week in a social media video. Emmerdale later confirmed it with a press release and new images of the man in question.

He is back in the Dales after six years, but details of why he returns are being kept under wraps. However, with him due back on screen this autumn, they may well be setting up his comeback storyline right now.

Could he somehow be involved with Billy? Where Ross Barton goes, trouble inevitably follows, so will Billy get in a mess?

‘Silly’ Kim and Will split slammed: ‘What a shame’

Kim Tate has remembered who she is in Emmerdale and dumped cheating Will Taylor – but not before torturing him, of course!

It turned out on Thursday September 20 that Kim has been behind Will’s blackmail all this time. And even though fans had all figured it out, they were pleased to see Kim return to her old ways.

However, despite the love for bad girl Kim, there are those who are disappointed over the outcome for Will and Kim’s marriage. The pair had been popular as a couple and some viewers were annoyed the show has gone and ruined it.

Will has been racing round for weeks trying to get rid of his blackmailer. He’s sold his watch, taken an ill-advised loan off Caleb and followed every instruction the tormentor has set. All because he stupidly slept with his ex Rose and won’t own up to it.

Desperate to keep his sex secret, Will dashed off into the woods last night when he thought Kim had been kidnapped. What he actually found was a mannequin with her face on it. Further into the forest he went where he discovered a shovel and was told to dig. Hearing Kim crying out for help, he did as he was told.

What he found in the ground was a coffin and a walkie talkie. Not Kim. That’s because she was behind him, ready to whack him over the head with the spade.

Still confused as he lay in the coffin, Kim spelt it out for her husband: she knew everything, she’s been the one setting him up and their marriage was over.

Taking the £50k he’d managed to raise to pay the blackmailer off, Kim also took Will’s phone and left him in the ground. As Will shouted out after her, she replied through the walkie talkie: “Over and out,” meaning their marriage was done.

    Fans react

Despite the outpouring of love for the old Kim Tate returning and exacting revenge like only she can, disappointment was in the air. There were those who really wanted Will and Kim to pull through this.

“Such a shame though, I really liked them as a couple,” said one on social media.

Another agreed: “I like Will, shame they have split another couple up in Emmerdale.”

“Why couldn’t they have let them be happy without the terrible storyline. Would love to see a proper happy family at Home Farm in fact in the whole village, too many far fetched doom gloom storylines Emmerdale’s writers PLEASE let have the old stories back with loads of lovely bonds and humour,” added one more.

“It’s a shame I liked Will and Kim together, such a silly storyline too,” commented a fourth.

But are they really over? Will Kim soften again and take him back? Or is this really the return of Queen Kim who rules the Dales with an iron fist?

Fans in ‘love’ with little Isaac Dingle: ‘He’s acting everyone else out of the village’

Young Isaac Dingle actor Bobby Dunsmuir has proved himself quite the Emmerdale superstar in recent weeks and it’s not gone unnoticed by fans.

He previously came to viewers’ attention when he adopted Minty the lamb and left them devastated when Minty died.

However, it was his quick-thinking last night (Thursday September 19) that saw him call an ambulance for Moira while she was having a seizure that got fans talking again.

Isaac acts to save Moira in Emmerdale

Moira has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. She has been advised by the hospital to follow a ‘watch and wait’ course of treatment, where they will keep an eye on things and operate if the tumour gets any bigger.

However, Moira so far has ruled out having surgery altogether, much to the dismay of her family. Due to her seizures and odd behaviour, she can’t be left alone in charge of her kids. But last night, Mackenzie had to pop out to collect a sick Moses, leaving Moira looking after Isaac.

Although she insisted she would be fine, she wasn’t when she and her son were setting up a cushion obstacle course and she collapsed having another seizure. Isaac was terrified and started shouting “Mummy, Mummy” as Moira lay lifeless on the floor.

But he also managed to call and ambulance, meaning the paramedics arrived and helped Moira. What a little star!

Moira was overwhelmed when she realised her son had saved her, but he didn’t want any praise, he simply told her he just wanted her to be his mummy for years and years. Will this make her rethink her surgery decision?

    Fans gush over Isaac

Those watching at home couldn’t contain their love for young Isaac on social media.

“Well Emmerdale has killed me off tonight with Moira, Cain and Isaac, that last scene. ‘I want you to be my mum for years,’” wrote one alongside a series of crying emojis.

“Isaac is too adorable,” said a second, with many others writing the same sentiment.

A third wrote: “The young boy Bobby Dunsmuir who plays Isaac Dingle is a great wee actor. He was brilliant tonight.”

“That kid who plays Isaac is an absolute star in the making. He’s gotta be the most adorable kid since April when she was little,” agreed someone else.

A fifth added: “Love Isaac out-acting the rest of village idiots!” Someone else also agreed: “Isaac is acting everyone else out of the village!”

“More Isaac he’s brilliant,” begged someone else, while another said: “Isaac is such a great little actor. A star in the making.”

Emmerdale: How old is Isaac Dingle?

Isaac Dingle is six years old. He was born on October 2, 2017, so is soon to turn seven.

Isaac has been played by a series of different actors, with three actors playing him whilst he was a baby. Harvey Brook, Elias Walker and Bobby Dunsmuir all have acted the part.

Bobby was one of the original actors who played Isaac when he was a baby.

Now, Bobby continues to play Isaac as he grows older. Bobby turned seven in July 2024, so he is a few months older than his on-screen alter ego.

‘About time’ declare fans as Kim Tate ‘returns’ to the Dales

Kim Tate in Emmerdale is not dubbed ‘Queen Kim’ for no reason, it’s just taken a little bit of time for us to see her again. But now she’s back! Boy, is she back!

Fans were ecstatic last night to get a glimpse of the old Kim as she was revealed as Will’s blackmailer. Of course, to most it had been obvious it was her, but still, the confirmation was as epic as we’d expected.

Kim has returned back to where she belongs. And we’re couldn’t be happier about it.

    Kim Tate ‘returns’ to Emmerdale

It’s been a long time coming. There have been cries aplenty for Kim to find her old self, stop being so soft and take control. This all came after she agreed to move out of her own house when Rose was plotting against her. Instead of standing her ground and exacting punishment, she meekly moved to the B&B and let Rose lord it up as lady of the manor.

Even when the truth was exposed about Rose, Kim’s reaction was a bit weak. She merely sent Rose packing.

But when she realised Will had slept with his ex, that’s when the old Kim Tate reared her head – in classic style.

Will has spent the last few weeks being blackmailed. Yes, it’s dragged on as he ran around trying to find the money to keep the blackmailer quiet over his sex secret. But last night (Thursday September 19) Will thought his wife had been kidnapped and raced to rescue her.

What he found was a mannequin with Kim’s face on it – creepy – and then instructions to keep going further into the woods. Then he discovered a spade. After he heard Kim’s voice crying for help, he began to dig and found a coffin, which had a walkie talkie inside.

Before Will knew it, he was knocked into the grave when he was hit over the head with the spade. By none other than Kim herself.

He still hadn’t quite worked it all out until Kim made it very clear she was behind everything. She then left him in the coffin, took his money and told him their marriage was over.

    Fans react

Those watching at home had already worked out it was Kim, but they were thrilled to see her back to her best self, nonetheless.

“Way to go Kim. Back to her very brilliant and wonderful best!!!!” cried one fan. “Nice to have the old Kim back,” added another.

A third wrote: “Kim Tate is back!! Never mess with her.” Someone else said: “About time the old Kim Tate returned.”

“Well it’s good to see the old Kim back to being bad and she was right to say you dug yourself a big hole,” shared one more.

A sixth said: “Think we all knew it was Kim. She’s the expert in shocks, twists and REVENGE!!!”

“It’s like a horror film YES Kim back to her old ways,” agreed another.

But let’s just hope she doesn’t soften again too quickly…
