Emmerdale tonight: Rose whereabouts revealed, Caleb’s a Swiftie, and Cain was left unimpressed with Moira’s gift

Emmerdale finally revealed tonight what actually happened to Rose after her mysterious disappearance last month…

We were hoping for a huge revelation to come out but it turns out that Dawn just picked her up from the side of the road and drove her to the airport (we fear this episode was well and truly overhyped!)

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Monday, August 26th.

Flashback scenes revealed the truth about Rose

Dawn confronted Will over what happened to Rose tonight, admitting that she’d known the truth about Rose’s disappearance all along but had kept quiet.

She’d been the one to drive by Rose at the side of the road, getting out of her car and confronting her over the voice message she’d received.

In flashback scenes, Rose then confessed EVERYTHING, admitting that Kim and Will had wanted her gone. Dawn was less than impressed when she found an envelope of money stashed in Rose’s bag, realising that the couple had paid her to leave.

After finding out that Rose had spiked her drink, Dawn willingly took the wad of cash back from Rose and… drove her to the airport.

YES, after all that… nothing bad happened to Rose at all. She’s now living it up in the sun somewhere abroad, perfectly alive.

Livid with Will’s betrayal, Dawn then chucked the cash at him and told him to stay away from her and her family. Oh, she means business! Nobody’s going to get on the wrong side of Dawn again after this one.

She then packed her bags and decided to leave Home Farm with Billy, whilst revealing that she lied about Evan needing a bone marrow transplant just to play on her dad’s emotions. A well thought out but low move from Dawn, we’ll say!

Caleb and Jai both love a bit of Tay-Tay

In the Wooly, Caleb and Jai toasted to their new deal as Caleb prepared to cause chaos at the Haulage.

However, Chas soon started wondering why they were acting so pally with each other all of a sudden. Caleb then quickly covered, suggesting that they were both trying to decide on the best Taylor Swift song of all-time. Jai claimed ‘Love Story,’ whilst Caleb declared ‘All Too Well’ as the reigning champion.

Come on lads, we all know that ‘Long Live’ is the ultimate T-Swift tune, don’t we?!

Warwick Pies are a very big deal

Now that he’s sticking around for a while, John started to learn the ropes to his new job up at the farm.

He soon started to bicker with Nate and Mack though, putting himself in charge despite being the newbie.

Unhappy to be answering the phone and making tea rather than putting in some proper graft outside, Cain then told John that the customer on the phone was Warwick Pies – a big deal. If John took anything away from today, it’s that he should never underestimate the importance of Warwick Pies. Ever. Again.

Moira’s gift didn’t go down well with Cain

Nate and Mack wondered why Moira had simply gone away for the night, with the only person in the know being Kyle.

When Moira returned, Cain and Moira failed to see eye to eye as Moira celebrated her new bull for the farm.

Cain was less than impressed to spot a bottle of booze in his wife’s bag. She told him that she’d brought it as a gift for him but Cain wasn’t that accepting of it. Sounds like a load of bull to us, Moira!

    Ella apologised to Wendy

After her recent outburst, Ella entered the Woolpack and thanked Wendy for dropping the charges (how nice of her!)

Wendy really didn’t want to hear it but admitted that she’d only dropped them to make things easier for everyone at work. Taking one for the team Wendy, good for you!

  • Review of the week: Piper’s alive, Ella’s lashing out, and what is Dawn up to?

Review of the week: Piper’s alive, Ella’s lashing out, and what is Dawn up to?

This week’s Emmerdale review is an emotional rollercoaster – just like the soap itself! We’ve been pulled every which way this week and frankly we don’t know whether we’re happy, sad or just plain confused!

Read on to find out what’s been leaving our heads in a spin in this week’s Emmerdale review.

Tom with Piper the Dog in Emmerdale
Piper’s alive! But Tom’s still evil (Credit: ITV)

    Piper’s alive!

Of course the big revelation this week was that poor Piper, Belle’s beloved pooch, is ALIVE!

We have to admit, we had our suspicions. We’ve been soap fans long enough to know that, in the words of Taylor Swift, ‘no body, no crime’.

But even though we didn’t see Tom run Piper over, we wondered if we were being a bit hopeful. Maybe the soap rules were different for animals. And things did look bleak when Tom brought Piper’s little wicker coffin up to Wishing Well to bury her beside Belle’s Shetland pony, Hamish.

And then! The best twist ever! Piper’s alive! For a second we were thrilled to bits. Except, Tom’s given her away, and Belle still thinks she’s dead. How evil can one man be?! Honestly, THIS is what we mean by an emotional rollercoaster!

Rhona points something out to horrified Ella on her phone in the village

    Ella lashes out!

We can’t quite get to grips with how we’re supposed to feel about child killer Ella.

On the one hand, she’s done her time and everyone deserves a second chance. On the other – she doesn’t exactly help herself, does she?!

This week, when Gary – the cousin of her victim, Joanne – turned up at Ella’s birthday celebrations, Ella lost it.

Wendy tried to help but Ella lashed out, giving poor Wendy a huge thump in the face and scaring her. It turned out Ella wanted to be sent back to prison – the only real home she’d ever had.

But on top of our conflicted feelings about Ella, we also felt a bit odd about Liam and Manpreet trying to gaslight a frightened and battered Wendy into withdrawing her statement. Ella may have had her reasons, but she still attacked Wendy.

Maybe we just need to get to know Ella better, but for now, the jury’s out on how we feel about this former jailbird.

Emmerdale's Laurel and Jai are talking to the mediator
Jai’s up to something, but so is Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Jai and Laurel’s money battle

Jai and Laurel’s divorce is becoming more acrimonious by the day and this week things took a turn. Except we’re not quite sure what’s going on.

Everyone’s lying and scheming and covering things up and now Caleb seems to be involved and we’re completely baffled.

All we really know is we’re totally Team Laurel!

Will looks worried at his phone in Home Farm

What’s Dawn up to in our Emmerdale review?

So Rose vanished, Will thinks Kim is responsible, Kim thinks Will did it, and she’s gone off to Dubai which makes Will even more suspicious that she’s the guilty party.

Meanwhile, Will’s sending Dawn messages from Rose’s phone and fretting, while Dawn worries about where her mum is.

    Except.

In Friday’s episode we discovered that Dawn’s been lying. She’s setting Will up for something and we’re not sure who’s in on it? Is this Dawn working with Rose to take revenge on her dad?

Or is it Dawn and Kim who have teamed up? Could Dawn, Kim AND Rose all be in on it? What even is IT? We’re so confused – and looking forward to next week’s episodes when hopefully it’ll all be explained.

  • Emmerdale tonight: Ella’s prison staycation was shortlived, Evan needs a transplant, and Dawn made a mysterious phone call

Emmerdale tonight: Ella’s prison staycation was shortlived, Evan needs a transplant, and Dawn made a mysterious phone call

Emmerdale tonight saw Ella get released from custody, Wendy accuse Liam and Manpreet of pressuring her and a twist that saw Dawn lie to her father and promise his downfall.

Elsewhere, Cain appeared to be emulating his wife’s alcoholic behaviour and taking out his anger on his kids while taking a swig of beer. Thank goodness Chas was there to save the day…

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Friday, August 23.

Ella looks worried as Mandy watches her in Emmerdale
Ella was released from custody after Wendy dropped the charges (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale tonight: Confusion over Ella

Mandy, Manpreet and Liam started the episode by discussing (over a coffee and a cake, of course) why Ella acted out with a huge carrot cake. Previous misdeeds aside, the trio couldn’t figure out why Ella acted supposedly out of character.

Ever the voice of reason, Manpreet emphasised that she probably felt more comfortable in prison than around them due to her previous residencies there. This appeared to give Mandy a wave of understanding.

Mastermind Liam thought it would be a smart idea to go straight to the source and try to get Wendy to drop her new charges. He and Manpreet headed straight over to hers.

Despite her badly bruised nose, Liam and Manpreet tried to plead Ella’s case to Wendy by telling she simply missed prison. Wendy was not sure and tried to back out of their request.

She quickly ushered her colleagues out of the door to get back to resting.

    Emmerdale tonight: Ella’s great escape

Later, Ella sat in an interview room and admitted she was wrong. Her lawyer (bless her) tried to guide her towards innocence, but in true Ella-fashion, she decided to speak her mind. She then learned that Liam had chose her solicitor, which left her confused.

“They’re gonna bang me up,” Ella added after her I-don’t-care interview performance. To her supposed dismay, she was released after Wendy decided to drop the charges.

Upon her arrival back in the village, Mandy and Liam were delighted to see her. Liam offered her his spare room on a friendship basis. When they arrived, Liam grew extremely awkward and said Ella can leave her bra wherever she wants (Oh, Liam…)

To avoid more embarrassing underwear talk, he headed to The Woolpack to pick up two lasagnes and stick toffee pudding (good choice!) but bumped into Wendy. After hearing Ella had moved in with Liam, Wendy grew angry and accused him of pressuring her to drop the charges (we don’t blame her!)

Will is worried when anxious Dawn brings news

    Emmerdale tonight: Will’s lies

Will undertook his grandfather duties and looked after Clemmie. He encouraged them to go for a picnic, but Clemmie said she missed her Granny Rose. To this, Will gave a hard blow and explained that she’s never coming back.

Later, when Dawn returned she revealed that Evan might need a bone marrow transplant. To do this, the whole family needed to be tested to see if they are matches.

The whole family means… the whole family. Will became physically uncomfortable at the mention of Rose’s name and said she probably wouldn’t even do it if she even bothered to reply.

Dawn did not listen and stormed off saying that it needed to be done. Later, Will did some furniture repositioning to reveal he had Rose’s phone.

He took it out and sent an undercover message to Dawn pretending to be Rose. He wrote that she is ‘never coming back.’

The plot quickly thickened, however, when Dawn received a mystery call where she told Billy that her father fell for all of her lies. She then promised his downfall… Does she actually know what happened to Rose?

    Emmerdale tonight: Where’s Moira?

Cain appeared to wake up on the wrong side of the bed after Moira went AWOL. He shouted at the kids after they asked for chocolate spread over a cheese sarnie (I mean, which child wouldn’t?) and told them to put up with it.

Kyle and Isaac refused to put up with it and said it wasn’t their fault Moira wasn’t speaking to him. Good for them…

Later when playing video games and after Cain had wiped off the pie on his face, the kids revealed that Moira would not be returning that night as she sent them a message.

Cain got angry again, but Chas told him to calm down and apologised on their behalf. She warned him not to fall into Moira’s alcoholic tendencies after he took a huge swig of beer.

    Jai looks horrified
Jai and Laurel continued their feud (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale tonight: Jai’s woes

Jai and Laurel experienced a chill in mid-summer after they shared a frosty exchange where Laurel packed all of his furniture into a moving truck and took it to his new place.

After angry comments about financial issues, Laurel quickly changed her views and asked him to be amicable. After considering it, Jai seemed to ignore her request.

Caleb, who always seems to seize the perfect moment, cornered him later as he was unpacking. He first insulted him for looking poor, to which Jai seemed strangely delighted. The perfect look for a divorcee, so he claimed.

Caleb then emphasised that Jai should invest his money into land they were hoping to buy. He claimed Jai would be rich within a year.

Will the proposition go well? Or is this a trap for Jai and his money?

  • 4 reasons why Ella will never dethrone Meena Jutla as ‘Top Village Killer’ no matter how hard she tries

4 reasons why Ella will never dethrone Meena Jutla as ‘Top Village Killer’ no matter how hard she tries

Emmerdale fans got a little excitable on Thursday (August 22) as Ella Forster went on a bit of a birthday rampage.

That doesn’t mean she got a bit tiddly on too many Proseccos, and demolished her birthday cake by herself (although she did do this… but not by scoffing it all down.)

Instead, Ella blew up at Mandy over a selfie shared online, had a rather awkward encounter with the brother of the girl she killed, punched a nurse, and got nicked. Not your typical celebrations, then. And she didn’t even get to blow out any candles.

However, while Ella’s meltdown left some fans wondering about whether she’ll return to the village, other viewers have tipped her to be the soap’s next big baddie.

But will she ever be able to top the malevolence of mad, bad, and deadly-to-know Emmerdale villainess Meena Jutla? In a word, no. And here’s why.

    Ella is arrested
Ella doesn’t have what it takes to be a top tier soap serial killer (Credit: ITV)

    Body count

It seems a little distasteful to highlight, but that won’t stop us: Ella is going to have to work on her body count if she’s to challenge Meena’s reputation.

Meena bumped off at least five other characters, including two (her dad and BFF) as part of her off-screen backstory.

At the moment, Ella only has one confirmed kill to her name. And, at this stage, we don’t exactly know all the details surrounding Joanne’s death. You never know, it might turn out there are as-yet undisclosed details around the killing which even Ella has buried deep, deep down… and portray her in a more sympathetic light.

So if she wants to be considered on the level of Meena, Ella needs to bury people, not feelings… and get those numbers up!

    Meena was flipping scary

Sure, Ella’s a bit useful with her fists (as Wendy’s conk found out) and a little aggressive towards tasty tokens of endearment from her friends (why would anyone ever waste cake by decorating the ground with it?), but she doesn’t have the compassionless, merciless look Meena had.

Ella, meanwhile, is all doe-eyed and smoochy lipped for Dr Liam Cavanagh. If that happened with Meena you’d be concerned why her pupils were so enlarged – and whether she was about to lean in and bite someone’s throat out rather than linger about for a tender kiss goodbye.

    Ella looks at Liam
Is this really a look a top village killer would give? We think not (Credit: ITV)

    Family connections

Any soap murderer can bump off a few randoms to establish their murderous potential. But to really excel as a first class psychopath, it is necessary to take out a few loved ones along the way.

Meena’s dad and (other) sister may not have appeared on screen, but she had sister Manpreet to torment, and demonstrate just how much of a wrong ‘un she was.

Ella, however, doesn’t have any close relatives in the village to victimise, and really prove what a nasty piece of work she may be. So that goes against her, too.

    Regrets? She’s had a few

To get ahead as a soap serial killer, you need to be more than a little bit dead inside yourself.

Ella seems – through her flashes of regret, and self-examination, and tears – to have a little bit of soul and humanity left. That won’t do – must die harder!

Soap serial killers needs to revel in and relish their dastardly deeds, too. Meena had the potential to murder while painting her nails. She gloried in the death and chaos she unleashed.

Ella, meanwhile, still hasn’t got over knocking off her best pal years ago. Some people just don’t have what it takes to be a bloodthirsty homicidal maniac, we’re afraid.

Jasmine Thomas: Romance, crime and murder!

Jasmine Thomas, the troubled teen daughter of vicar Ashley Thomas, is back in Classic Emmerdale. She’s been suspended from school, and she wants to stay in the village.

So what better time than to have a look at everything Jasmine got up to while she was living in Emmerdale – and what’s happened to actress Jenna Coleman since!

    Jasmine arrives in Emmerdale

Troublesome teenager Jasmine came to the village for the summer, to stay with her uncle, vicar Ashley Thomas.

She befriended Debbie Dingle but had to get back to school. After a quick return to the village when she was suspended, Jasmine was eventually expelled and came back to do her A Levels in Emmerdale.

    Jasmine and Debbie

Debbie wasn’t the most stable of teenagers herself so she and Jasmine become firm friends.

When Debbie kissed Jasmine, hoping to get a reaction from dad Cain, the teens realised their friendship went deeper and they became a couple.

    Jasmine and Cain

But where Dingles go, trouble follows, and Jasmine was soon drawn into Debbie’s feud with her dad, Cain.

Cain seduced teenage Jasmine to spite poor Debbie. Jasmine got pregnant, and told Debbie everything.

And then Sadie King got involved – which never ended well. She paid for Jasmine to have an abortion. Debbie spilled the beans to Cain – who’d wanted Jasmine to keep the baby – and for a while everything was very messy!

    Jasmine’s journalism career

After school, Jasmine wanted to become a journalist. She landed a job and began investigating the Tom King’s murder. She helped Jamie Hope clear his name, but she didn’t find the real killer.

Later, she started investigating the Macfarlanes – a local crime family – which is where things got a bit tricky.

    Shane Doyle

Jasmine met policeman Shane at the pub and wanted to get to know him so he could help with her story. But Shane wanted to get to know Jasmine for other reasons!

He managed to split up her and boyfriend Jake Dolan, by provoking Jake and then arresting him, and making Jasmine think he had cheated on her.

But still Jasmine was focused on exposing the Macfarlane family.

When Jasmine found out Shane had arrested a woman called Danielle Hutch, with links to the family, she was thrilled. And when Shane said he let her go because he felt sorry for her, she was so pleased with him that she slept with him.

But as Jasmine asked more questions about the arrest, Shane became aggressive and when Jasmine searched his flat she found large amounts of cash.

Shane found Jasmine, there was a struggle and he tried to rape her – she fought back, whacking him with a chair leg and killing him!

Jasmine, Eli and Debbie dump Shane's body

    Cover up!

Jasmine, Debbie and Eli Dingle wrapped up Shane’s body and dumped him in a lake. But when his body was discovered accidentally by Victoria Sugden, Jasmine started to realise she had to confess – especially when innocent Ross Kirk was arrested for the crime.

Debbie persuaded Jasmine not to own up, and the pair declared their love for one another. Aww – but it was short-lived.

Ross was released and Eli was arrested instead. Jasmine and Debbie decided to go on the run, but Debbie was arrested.

    Everlasting love?

Jasmine hid for a little while, then when Debbie was in court, she burst in and announced she was the one who’d killed Shane!

Jasmine was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to four years behind bars. She and Debbie swore their love would last forever, but as far as we know, Debbie’s forgotten all about her!

    Who played Jasmine Thomas?

Jasmine was played by Jenna-Louise Coleman (now known as Jenna Coleman). It was her first big break and she chose to take the role in Emmerdale instead of going to drama school as she’d planned.

Jenna Coleman as Ember Manning in The Jetty
Jenna played detective Ember Manning in The Jetty

    Where is Jenna Coleman now?

Jenna Coleman’s career has gone from strength to strength since she waved goodbye to Emmerdale.

She played Clara Oswald in Doctor Who – companion to the eleventh (Matt Smith) and twelfth (Peter Capaldi) Doctors.

Jenna starred as the young queen in the ITV drama Victoria and has appeared in many other television shows including The Cry, The Serpent and The Jetty.

She’s been on stage in the West End and has appeared in an episode of Inside No.9.

This summer Jenna announced she is expecting her first child with her partner Jamie Childs, a British director and filmmaker.

4 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight including Will in deep trouble and Dawn’s heartbreaking bombshell

In Emmerdale spoilers for Friday August 23, the pressure is on for Will as Dawn tries to find missing Rose. Dawn is desperate to let her mum know cancer-stricken Evan may need a bone marrow transplant.

The urgency of Rose’s search leaves Will consumed with guilt and forces him to make his riskiest move yet. Is he about to get caught out?

Will’s web of lies is unravelling in Emmerdale spoilers

Will looks very worried in Emmerdale

    1. Will is hiding secrets about Rose

Rose is still missing and suspicions are starting to mount over her disappearance. Viewers will remember Rose vanished into thin air after her plot to destroy Kim was exposed.

Part of that plot involved Rose seducing Will into bed, an encounter which he instantly regretted. Kim then discovered Rose and Ruby were conspiring against her and informed Will.

The couple ordered Rose out of their lives and abandoned her by the side of a countryside road. She was then picked up by vehicle and later her belongings were seen strewn across the road. It looked as if Rose had met a sinister fate. And someone out there knows what really happened.

Could that person be Will? He and Kim definitely know more than they’re letting on.

    2. Dawn drops a shock bombshell

With Kim away in Dubai, Will has been trying his best to hold it together.

But Dawn is growing increasingly concerned for Rose’s wellbeing. Will was able to dissuade his daughter from hiring a private detective, but she now wants to report Rose to the police as a missing person.

As Will tries to figure out a way to stop this happening, Dawn drops a bombshell. She tells her dad Evan might need a bone marrow transplant and Rose could be a match.

The realisation that his grandson’s future might hinge on finding Rose leaves Will wracked with guilt.

    3. Will writes a text on Rose’s phone

As Will continues to reel over Dawn’s news, his thoughts turn back to Rose.

Making sure he’s alone, Will retrieves Rose’s phone which he has hidden at Home Farm. Why exactly he’s got her mobile is another question that needs answering.

Will listens to a pleading voicemail message from Dawn which makes him feel sick with worry. He tries to contact Kim again, but will she answer?

Later, Will’s desperation leads him to compose a message on Rose’s phone. Is the text meant for Dawn? What does it say? And how much longer can Will carry on living a lie? The net is closing in…

  • What did Ella actually do to Joanne and why does Gary hate her so much?

What did Ella actually do to Joanne and why does Gary hate her so much?

So, Gary turned up at Ella’s birthday party in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Thursday, August 22) and truly ruined the occasion.

He gave Ella a card with a photo of Joanne in it – his dead sister who Ella was responsible for killing when they were kids.

Here’s exactly what Ella did to Joanne and why Gary has it in for her!

Emmerdale: Gary crashed Ella’s 30th birthday party

This evening in the Dales, Mandy surprised Ella for her 30th birthday. She kicked off the celebrations with a breakfast and a pamper in the salon but Ella wasn’t too keen.

Rhona then notified Ella of the before and after photos of her that Mandy had posted on social media, and, oh boy, did that set Ella off!

She soon grabbed the carrot cake that Mandy had bought her and broke it to pieces, slamming her for putting her face out there.

Later on, all seemed to be forgiven as she enjoyed a sing-song at her surprise party in the Woolpack. However, as she grabbed the mic, a familiar (and unwelcome) face turned up. Gary – Joanne’s brother – had turned up to wish her a not-so-happy birthday.

He handed her a card with an image of Joanne inside of it, soon sharing his hopes that this birthday would be Ella’s last.

Ella then went off on a mad rage, attacking Wendy and doing her best to get sent back to prison – where she thought she belonged. It looks like her birthday wish was about to be granted as she was carted off in a police car following the incident.

So, how did Ella actually kill Joanne?

Ella – also known as Ruth – was revealed to be a child-killer earlier this year. This came out as attended the funeral of an old woman called June.

June turned out to have been the mum of Ella’s childhood bestie, Joanne. Although, they weren’t exactly the closest of mates when Joanne died!

When Joanne was eleven, Ella got jealous of her new friends. She feared that June wouldn’t love her as much if she stopped hanging out with Joanne. June felt like a second mum to Ella, and she wasn’t prepared to lose her.

So, Ella ended up fighting with Joanne until she attacked her so much that she was dead.

She then went to prison for her crime and changed her identity. But, this didn’t stop Gary from tracking her down, we see!
