John is keeping Anthony locked up alive, new fan theory predicts

A new Emmerdale fan theory has predicted that Anthony is alive – and that John Sugden is keeping him locked up somewhere. This came as he finally showed Aaron, Chas and the others where he’d stashed the old man’s body.

With Chas threatening to go to the police, John decided to reassure them that he could be trusted by taking the cover-up committee to Anthony’s final resting place.

John revealed Anthony’s grave on Emmerdale last night

Out in the woods, John revealed where he’d hidden the body – beneath a tree trunk in the ice and snow. Chas and the others seemed satisfied, and she put her plan to go to the police on the back-burner. Once everyone else had cleared off, Ruby paid her dad a visit, breaking down as she stood over his makeshift grave.

But is that really Anthony under there? A growing number of viewers are convinced that Anthony’s body isn’t actually where John says it is.

Anthony alive as John Sugden’s captive, Emmerdale fans predict

Writing on X as last night’s episode aired, a number of fans shared their theories as to what John was up to. And many wondered if Anthony‘s body was buried there after all – or if he’s even dead.

“Part of me thinks that John has Anthony locked up somewhere…..alive,” wrote one fan on the social media site.

“Of course we don’t really know if Anthony was dead when Ruby left him. She thought he was, but only John really knows,” said another.

“Is Anthony actually dead?, it was John that pronounced and John that disposed of the “body,” a third pointed out.

“Nope… Anthony is not there! I WONDER if, John brought him back to life and the deal is that he stayed gone,” a fourth agreed.

Is Anthony alive and hiding out – or stashed somewhere?

  • What happened on Emmerdale tonight? Ruby broke down at Anthony’s burial site and Kim played Joe

What happened on Emmerdale tonight? Ruby broke down at Anthony’s burial site and Kim played Joe

Emmerdale tonight (February 26) aired the aftermath of Chas’ decision to go to the police. And while she was adamant it was the right thing to do, John halted their plans.

The episode centred around John taking the lead and making sure the group stayed together. But after he showed them where Anthony is buried, could things be worse for Ruby?

Elsewhere April began to open up to Rhona, who agreed to keep it between them. And Kim once again played Joe to find out what he is up to, as Charity is still convinced he spiked Noah.

So here’s a full rundown of what happened in Emmerdale tonight.

All of those involved with Anthony's murder cover-up were brought to the woods by John (Credit: ITV)

    Chas’ plan is halted

Aaron didn’t like his mum’s idea to go to the police, worried it would throw John in the frame more than anybody else. But Chas seemed suspicious that he hadn’t shown them were the body was, and even queried his loyalty.

When Aaron headed home to question John about the body, John seemed hurt by the accusation. And evidently disliked that Chas doesn’t trust him. He reminded Aaron: “I put my life on the line to save your skin. Remember that.”

But it clearly struck a nerve as soon all of those involved in Anthony’s cover-up headed to the woods to meet him. And John took the lead. He informs them he wasn’t trying to manipulate the situation, but that the less they knew, the better. After explaining how the whole murder has impacted him, he outs Chas’ plans to the group.

Ruby breaks down crying over Anthony's burial site in Emerdale

John showed where the body was – and Ruby broke down

After Caleb and Cain let their (hypocritical) anger known at Chas, John takes control once again and informs them they need to stick together otherwise they all go down.

He then directs their attention to the spot in front of them – where Anthony is buried.

From that moment everyone agreed to take John’s advice and to trust him. But with all the speculation that he is Emmerdale’s next serial killer – is this a bad idea?

Back at home, Ruby gets emotional thinking that Anthony was buried there and that it’s her fault. But Caleb once again informs her that the only person to blame is her evil dad.

But at the end of the episode, Ruby went back to the spot and broke down in tears. Could she ruin the plan for everyone?

    Joe is played by Kim

When Kim finds one of her listening devices in the bin thanks to Lydia, she realises that Joe must have been onto her plan. And immediately tries to think of a way to find put the truth.

She apologised to him, and admitted she had been spying on him because she was afraid she couldn’t trust him. But that she has realised he has nothing to hide.

Joe happily accepts her apology, and her extra workload, but fails to realise he is still being watched. As Kim now has Lydia working against him on the inside.

    Elsewhere

April woke up with her first period since her traumatic birth experience. And when Rhona realised, she managed to get her to open up slightly. April explained it took her back to the birth, and asked Rhona not to tell Marlon any of it.

Away from that, Charity remained convinced that Joe was the one who spiked Noah – and confided in Mack. But he kept reminding her that her judgement is clouded when it comes to Joe and that she doesn’t have any proof. With Charity more sure than ever – will she get the proof she needs?

As John Sugden reveals where Anthony’s body is buried, is he telling the truth? All we know

John Sugden revealed where he’d buried Anthony Fox’s body in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Wednesday, February 26).

But though the other accomplices in the murder all took him at his word – and Ruby even sobbed over her dad’s makeshift grave – we don’t believe him in the slightest!

    Here’s everything we know.

Can John be trusted? (Credit: ITV/Composite: EI)

Emmerdale: John Sugden and the Anthony murder club?

In tonight’s episode, Aaron tried to talk his mum Chas out of going to the police about Anthony. He said he couldn’t go to the police without implicating John.

Chas thought she could tell Swirling and his mates just enough to put them off Aaron’s tail.

Aaron was not impressed. He said John was protecting him by not telling him where he had put Anthony’s corpse.

But Chas pointed out that John knew everything Aaron had done while Aaron didn’t know anything. She even questioned how Aaron knew he could trust John.

Aaron, though, said John was only involved because of him.

Later Aaron spoke to John and asked why he hadn’t told him what he’d done with the body.

“Knowing wasn’t in your interest,” John said.

But Aaron said he was being controlling. And then he told him all about what Chas had said. John responded by messaging everyone and asking them to meet him in the woods.

Cain, Caleb, Ruby, Chas and Aaron all obediently trooped into the snowy woods and waited. John said he wanted to ‘keep lines of communication open.’ And he said he wasn’t hiding anything or manipulating anyone.

“The less you know, the less chance of you incriminating yourself,” he said.

Then he revealed that Chas had considered going to the police!

But John said everyone was to blame and that they had to operate as a unit.

“If one falls, we all fall.”

And then he revealed that where they stood was where he’d buried Anthony.

“I’d like to think this proves you can trust me,” he said.

    Everyone agreed.

    But we did not!

Because John seems massively shifty if you ask us.

    John and Aaron argue

John Sugden: Cool, calm and collected. Like a psychopath

He was so calm when Anthony was killed. He swung into action and did what he needed to do without even pausing to think about it.

We know he’s got an army background, but that doesn’t make him a dab hand at hiding bodies. As he himself pointed out in tonight’s episode – it wasn’t an easy thing to do. And yet, he somehow managed to make it look pretty straightforward.

You know who does that? Psychopaths, that’s who.

    Aaron and John in Emmerdale

    Is he lying?

I mean, we’re not experts at burying bodies ourselves but we reckon that though it’s pretty obvious in a graveyard situation, in a wood – especially a snowy wood – it’s quite hard to know where a corpse lies.

    That’s sort of the point.

So in our opinion, John could have taken his little band of followers anywhere he fancied, pointed to the ground and said ‘that’s it.’

Did he do just that? We think he could be lying…

Was John watching over Nate’s final resting place? (Credit: ITV/Composite: EI)

    Did John Sugden kill Nate?

Meanwhile, poor Nate Robinson’s body is festering away in the icy lake.

And his potential killer is out there, looking on as the rescue services dragged the limo from the water, and sending presents to Frankie for her birthday claiming to be from her dad.

Could that killer have been John? He was the last person to see poor Nate alive – at least, the last we know of.

Maybe we’re looking at a serial killer sitch here?

John Sugden's dog tag with the name Aidan Moore
Did John kill Aidan Moore? (Credit: ITV)

Did John Sugden kill Aidan Moore?

We know John SAID the mysterious Aidan Moore was his best mate who was killed in Afghanistan. Maybe he left out the part when he killed him? Maybe him having his dog tag is a sick souvenir just like Meena Jutla’s first aid tin full of memorabilia she nicked from her victims.

  • Is Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale? Everything we know as fans fear an exit for Cain Dingle

Is Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale? Everything we know as fans fear an exit for Cain Dingle

Is Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale as Cain Dingle after 25 years? Fans have been concerned lately that the iconic Dingle bad boy is heading for an exit.

Joining Emmerdale way back in 2000, Jeff is celebrating his 25th year on the soap. Despite taking a few years away from 2006 – 2009, he has been a constant in the village.

But as his current storyline has Cain tangled up in Anthony’s murder cover-up and his marriage heading downwards. So now fans are worried we’re going to lose him on our screens. But is this the case? Here is everything we know about Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale as Cain.

Jeff Hordley smiling on This Morning

Is Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale as Cain?

As of this current moment (February 26) there is no official confirmation that Jeff is leaving the Dales. And there is also no reports that suggest otherwise. So it looks like fan concerns can be put to rest.

Jeff himself recently appeared on This Morning to talk about the huge limo crash that claimed the lives of three loved characters. And in the interview, he admitted it’s “been a wonderful ride”.

Speaking about his years on the soap, Jeff said: “I remember joining for two years. Then two years turned into six years. I took a little break then I came back.

“But it’s been a wonderful ride and I’m really proud to still be here to be honest. Especially with all of these characters who are going.”

Looking at his character’s story arc’s over the years, Jeff agreed that Cain “isn’t boring”, adding that “he’s not someone who would go to the cafe to order a cup of tea”.

Cain Dingle looks annoyed in Emmerdale
Cain has been at the centre of some huge storylines (Credit: ITV)

Why are fans convinced Cain will leave?

A few months ago, while Moira was in brain surgery, Cain had a one night stand with Ruby. And while we all tried to block it from our memories, the truth has just come out.

Moira clearly isn’t happy about it all, and while actress Natalie J Robb believes Cain and Moira are the real deal, fans are worried they’re headed for divorce.

Then on top of that Caleb tried to frame Cain for Anthony’s murder – which didn’t work out for him. But as the brothers continue to be against each other, fans are worried Caleb may do something sinister to Cain.

If you also watch Classic Emmerdale episodes that air every day on ITV3 then Cain will have just left the village. And so perhaps fans are worried the timing will line up with the new episodes.

But fear not. There are currently no reasons for fans to think Jeff Hordley is leaving Emmerdale as Cain. And we are glad!

Of course it’s Soap Land and things can change very quickly, but as for now, erase the fears that we’re losing Cain.

Emmerdale fans spot key detail that hints John isn’t actually Nate’s killer

In Emmerdale John Sugden has looked suspicious for months, and many now fear he is the one who killed Nate. But eagle-eyed viewers point out one detail that may throw that theory away.

When John arrived fans quickly theorised he wasn’t who he said he was. And many believed he had even killed before. Then when he was a master at covering up Anthony’s murder, this was heightened. But the biggest piece of all was when it was revealed Nate’s body was in the lake.

However, despite fans being certain that John was the one who killed Nate, they couldn’t help but notice a detail that hints maybe he actually isn’t the murderer.

Fans point out plot hole (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale John wouldn’t know key detail

Last night (February 15) Tracy tried to celebrate little Frankie’s birthday. But with Vanessa mourning Suzy it was a struggle. All Tracy wanted was for Nate to call and say happy birthday to his daughter – but we all know this could never happen.

But in an unexpected twist Nate seemingly did wish his daughter a happy birthday, in the form of a note attached to a delivered present. Cain and Tracy both were confused by the gift, as neither had heard from him since he seemingly left the village.

Now, viewers are well aware that it could not have been Nate who sent the gift as his body is currently sinking under the lake. So naturally, John became number one suspect in fans’ minds. However, the question is, how would John know Frankie’s birthday?

John has never shared a scene with Frankie. And he has no friendship with Tracy. So viewers are confused as to why he would know this key detail.

Writing on a Reddit thread, one viewer pointed this plot hole out. They said: “My question is would John, who some of us currently think killed Nate, really know the date of Frankie’s birthday? Would Tracy have told him? And would he have felt the need to as someone? Surely the person who killed Nate is someone who knows the date and were able to order a gift to arrive in time?”

Another backed this up, adding: “I doubt John would know Frankie’s birthday. And it would be a bit suspect to ask Aaron.”

    Nate looks sad in Emmerdale

Fans wonder if Caleb was the murderer

Many agreed, pointing out this helps Caleb look like the guilty party. One user commented: “Caleb would know. He is her great uncle and had a considerably long affair with her mum.”

However, others refused to get off the John is guilty train and came up with reasons as to how he would know.

One pointed out: “The killer obviously has hold of Nate’s phone. It’s possible that Nate had saved Frankie’s birthday as a reminder. That could be how the killer knew.”

Or a more sinister theory was that John was abusing his job privileges. They wrote: “I thought John worked at the doctors surgery. He would be able to access her files. And he has Nate’s phone.”

Whatever way the killer knew, fans seem to be undecided as to whether it was John or Caleb that put Nate in a watery grave.

Viewers call for Vanity reunion as Vanessa reassures Charity following limo crash

Last week in Emmerdale Charity was driving the limo that crashed onto the lake and killed three huge characters. One being her ex-fiance’s new girlfriend.

Vanessa and Charity – or Vanity as they’re better known – stole fans hearts in 2018 when they officially became girlfriends. They went on to have one of the most adored love stories in Emmerdale – until it ended.

While Vanessa was struggling with her cancer, Charity struggled to open up to her and turned to Mack for comfort. The couple went on to try to make their relationship work, but to no avail. But it seems viewers still haven’t given up hope that one day, they will reunite.

Charity and Vanessa scenes send fans wild

Over the last couple of months, there haven’t been too many scenes with the former couple together. But every time there is, fans go wild. And last night’s episode was no exception.

After Suzy was killed on impact during the limo crash, Charity was blaming herself for the deaths. And Joe didn’t make it better when he made a sarcastic comment about her being responsible.

But one person who certainly doesn’t blame the Dingle icon is her ex. When Vanessa appeared in the pub, Charity gave her a drink for free. And then took the chance to apologise for what had happened.

However, Vanessa very quickly cut her of, assuring her that she was not responsible for the lives that were lost. Charity emotionally told Vanessa that she “always liked” her and Suzy together.

And while the exchange was friendly, Vanity fans couldn’t help but think they may still reunite after all.

Taking to X, viewers shared their happiness at the scene, and how they appreciated that it was Vanessa who eased Charity’s mind.

    Fans call for Vanity reunion

One wrote: “After all this time, Vanessa is still reassuring Charity. She knows her. She knows Charity’s head would be spiralling. And she doesn’t want her to go through that.”

Another applauded: “I was sure that Vanessa would at least partially blame Charity for the accident and Suzy’s death. So her explicitly saying it wasn’t Charity’s fault just reinforces my belief that deliberate choices are being made her.”

A third penned: “Of course Vanessa is the first to reassure Charity. Vanity are coming back in the ring, everyone.”

“Charity and Vanessa are SOULMATES,” another enthusiastic fan commented. While another wrote: “Poor Vanessa. Charity your woman needs you. Like now.”

Charity is currently happily with Mack. But as we saw in the flash-forward at the beginning of the year, the future doesn’t seem to good for him. So if both Vanessa and Charity lose someone they love this year, could it push them back together? And with fans thinking Mary and Suzy may have been having an affair, will Vanessa turn to Charity in her time of need?

Emmerdale viewers beg for Charity and Kim to ‘team up and take Joe Tate down’

After last night’s episode (February 25) showed a determined Charity to see that Joe is bad news, fans are calling for them to unite and take the Tate bad boy down.

Since Noah was spiked, Charity has been determined to get to the bottom of who was responsible. And after wrongly assuming it was Jacob’s friend Ritch, she has turned her attention to Joe.

But Noah doesn’t remember much. Just vague images of his time in a hospital with bright lights and muffled speech. And everyone has convinced him that was the limo crash, however we know that’s not the case.

What’s happened with Joe and Noah?

Ever since Joe turned up he has been obsessed with mending his relationship with Noah. And while on the surface that seems sweet, the reality appears to be much darker.

We know Joe has some secret health situation going on. But we still don’t know any other details as to what it is exactly. But he became desperate to get Noah to go to Dubai, and was furious when the plan failed.

Then Noah just so happened to walk in front of the limo, causing Charity to swerve and three people to die. And it was evident Noah was drugged – and it was Joe who was responsible.

Charity headed straight to Kim last night, and begged her to see that Joe hasn’t changed. And she even confessed that she knew the Home Farm queen didn’t trust him as she knew about the listening devices.

While Kim defended Joe, there was a sense that not everything was as it seemed. And as two iconic women in Emmerdale, fans are begging for them to team up and take him down.
