In tonight’s Emmerdale spoilers Rose’s plot to entrap Will goes awry when Dawn and Kim arrive home. There’s a mix up with the champagne glasses, leaving Rose to fear she’s drugged her own daughter.

Also on in Emmerdale on Thursday July 18, Mandy is horrified to discover child killer Ella is back in the village.

    1. Rose’s plan goes awry

After a last minute wobble, Rose decides to push on with her plan to entrap Will. Rose has been in turmoil over whether to continue the mission, knowing she could lose Dawn forever.

However, her mind is now made up and she knows what she’s got to do.

Getting Will on his own, Rose suggests they crack open a bottle of bubbly. She pours out the Champagne, and sneakily slips a horse tranquilliser into her ex’s glass…

But before he can take a sip, disaster strikes when Kim and Dawn arrive back at Home Farm.

    2. Is Dawn in serious danger?

Unaware of the situation they’ve just walked into, Kim and Dawn accept Will’s offer to join them for a drink.

Two more glasses are poured and Rose paints on a smile as the foursome do a cheers to the future.

But then disaster strikes when the glasses get mixed up and Rose forgets which one is which. Yikes! So who is going to down the spiked champers?

Is it going be the intended target, Will? Or Kim, whose life Rose and Ruby are so intent on wrecking?

Or worse? Might Rose have accidentally drugged Dawn?

Viewers will remember Ella was previously banished from the village by Liam after he found out she killed her best friend when they were kids.

Ella is in a fragile state as she tells Mandy she’s back to collect the rest of her belongings. She packs up and leaves, as Mandy watches on, unsure whether to give her another chance.

    4. Liam and Chas grow closer

Unaware of Ella’s return, Liam is cosying up to former flame Chas. Matchmaker Manpreet is keen for the exes to rekindle their romance, which ended when Chas was diagnosed with cancer.

    Will she be okay?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Matty was freed, Jai moved out of Laurel’s

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Matty was freed, Jai moved out of Laurel’s

Emmerdale tonight was an hour long, after the soap missed an episode on ITV last night – and there was drama galore!

Top of the list was Matty’s release from prison. Everyone else was so happy to see him a free man but he was in a state of trauma.

Emmerdale tonight: Matty’s free but is Samson going inside?

The same day started dramatically differently for two Dingle households, with Sam and Lydia having another blazing row, while Moira was feeling positive about Matty’s future.

Sam had convinced himself that Samson would be heading inside for lying about the stabbing.

“It’s only a matter of time before they charge him, and not just with what he’s confessed to but for lying in the first place, perverting the course of justice.

“You’ve got no idea what you’ve done, either of you,” he snapped at his wife and son.

Samson replied that he knew his dad had hit Cain, but no one else was to blame for what had happened – and then laid down a bizarre challenge.

“Go on, hit me. It might make you feel better,” he said.

“It’s a bit late for that now,” Sam replied mournfully.

When alone with Lydia, Sam finally admitted: “I won’t turn my back on him, but Cain was right, after what he’s done I’m ashamed to call him my son. Maybe I was too soft on him, somewhere along the line I’ve failed him.
“Nothing I can do now, he’s on his own, and no idea what’s coming his way.”

Later, Matty did indeed walk from prison – and a tense run-in with Samson ensued.

“I wouldn’t wish prison on anyone,” Matty said and, assuming Samson’s fate was already sealed, added: “Just keep your head down and your mouth shut – and tell the truth, you can’t let someone like Josh get away with it.”

Hmmm, all these hints at Samson not having a clue what’s about to hit him… will he be exiting the village permanently – and in a wooden box?

    Laurel and Jai at war?

The rain cloud reached Laurel and Jai’s house in Emmerdale tonight, where they agreed to tell all their kids about their split – although he was definitely still trying to avoid it.

“So soon after your heart attack… it’s a lot for them,” he pleaded. But Laurel had no intention of changing her mind.

With Arthur away in Australia, the former couple broke the news to Archie and Dotty at home, who took it as well as small children could.
And with that chore ticked off the list, Laurel moved on to the next: Operation Get Jai out of the House.
Jai reluctantly agreed to move back into his family home, assuming Archie would be right by his side – “He’s my son, Laurel, where I go he goes.”

However, Archie had other plans – staying put with Laurel and his ‘sister’, as he cutely called Dotty.

Emmerdale tonight: Rose stepped up her plan – but, er, what actually is it?

Whether he’s secretly finding Rose a temptation under his roof or genuinely wants her gone, Will tells his ex that it’s time she found somewhere else to rest her head.

But Rose has no intention of moving on and protested that Dawn and the kids like having her at home, and her leaving would just punish them.

Later, she was briefly on a call to Bali, where Ruby is on holiday, telling her they need to move their plan on.

Before the day was out, a shady stranger handed Rose a brown envelope that contained a small bottle with clear liquid in it.

“Careful, there’s enough there to put an elephant down,” the mystery man warned. “You’ll receive further instructions in due course.”

Is murder afoot? Or a plan to drug Will to get him into a compromising position?

Liam looks intrigued as he talks to Manpreet

Liam and Chas kissing in a tree?

Elsewhere the village’s GPs Manpreet and Liam idly chatted about their disastrous love lives.
While Manpreet subscribed to the old adage the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else, Liam was resolute that – with his track record – he’s better off staying single.

His colleague protested that he clearly had unfinished business with Chas (Lucy Pargeter) after their one-night stand.
And she’d clearly hit on something as, when Chas later suggested they have a drink together, he happily agreed.

Who is Paddy Kirk in Emmerdale?

Paddy’s the son of Barbara, and Bear Wolf – a former wrestler who only reconnected with his son in recent years.

He has one daughter – Eve – with ex-wife Chas Dingle. Their first baby girl, Grace, lived only for an hour after she was born.

He’s also a father figure to Chas’s son, Aaron.

    Paddy’s arrival

Paddy came to Emmerdale way back in 1997 as a locum vet to cover for Zoe Tate. He hit it off with Mandy, though his mum Barbara didn’t approve.

When Mandy married her cousin Butch as a way to stop the family being evicted, Paddy was heartbroken. But they eventually got it together and tied the knot.

    Paddy’s love life

Paddy and Mandy were happy for a while but when her dad got ill she had to spend time away looking after her half-siblings. And she eventually began an affair with her dad’s carer. She and Paddy split.

Paddy found comfort in sweet Emily Dingle – Butch’s widow – and they started a romance. They walked down the aisle and became foster parents, caring for many children including Debbie Dingle.

But Paddy had an affair with Viv Hope. And when Emily found out, she left the village for good.

Next, Paddy started a romance with Chas Dingle – nothing like keeping it in the family, eh? He got close to her son, Aaron, and helped him when he was struggling with his sexuality.

Chas cheated on Paddy and the pair split.

Paddy moved on, falling for fellow vet Rhona Goskirk, who’d been in a relationship with Paddy’s bestie Marlon. Awks! Oh, and she was pregnant with Marlon’s baby.

Somehow, the trio made it work, though, despite Rhona’s painkiller addiction.

But when Paddy cheated with Tess Harris, it all fell apart.

And eventually, Paddy got back together with ex-girlfriend Chas.

    Baby Grace

Chas and Paddy were surprised but delighted when they found out Chas was pregnant. But their joy turned to devastation when they were told their unborn baby had bilateral renal agenesis and wouldn’t survive long after birth.

They decided to continue the pregnancy, and in heartbreaking scenes, their baby was born, only to die shortly afterwards. The pair imagined the life their daughter Grace would have had.

Later, the pair were nervous but thrilled to discover Chas was pregnant again and their daughter Eve was born in 2019. Chas and Paddy tied the knot in a Christmas wedding in 2020, but their marriage fell apart when Chas cheated with Al Chapman.

Danny Miller hints at John Sugden connection for Aaron Dingle

Emmerdale newcomer John Sugden is certain to ruffle a few feathers when he rocks up in August – and actor Danny Miller has hinted his alter ego Aaron Dingle could be right in the mix of those feathers!

Although John’s arrival will at first affect Victoria Sugden – his only remaining relative in the village, it doesn’t look like it’ll be long before Aaron is involved too. And given his history with the Sugdens – namely, Victoria’s brother Robert – how will John’s arrival go down?

Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale as played by Danny Miller looks brooding
Aaron’s certainly not had much luck moving on from Robert (Credit: ITV)

‘Interesting’ new Sugden coming to Emmerdale, reveals Danny Miller

Danny Miller dropped a few hints about what to expect from John at this year’s Radio Times Soap Awards. He told The Mirror: “There’s a Sugden coming in.

“With the history that Aaron has with Robert, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with them. It’ll be an interesting few months for sure.”

    Hmm, sounds… interesting!

Of course, Aaron was married to Robert Sugden and the pair – known as Robron to the fans – were deemed soulmates. With Robert in prison after he attacked Victoria’s rapist, Lee Posner, who subsequently died, he told Aaron to move on.

Aaron has tried, but most of his romances since have ended tragically, including that with his lover Ben who was murdered by Meena Jutla. But will John’s arrival spell new love for Aaron? And would that not be super-duper weird? But then again, Aaron is a Dingle, a little bit of husband and wife swapping is nothing new to them!

Emmerdale's Oliver Farnworth as John Sugden
‘Brooding and mysterious’ – just Aaron’s type! (Credit: ITV)

    Who is John Sugden?

Newcomer John is described as ‘brooding and mysterious’ (aren’t they all?) and he will become ‘deeply entwined with the rich history of the Sugden family’. Sounds, er, fun…

However, John will also have his secrets… (Of course he will). He’s set for romance, when he catches “the eye of an unsuspecting resident, enriching the drama around his arrival.” So is that Aaron? And how will that complicate things?

John is played by former Coronation Street actor Oliver Farnworth, who says: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale.

“The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that. I’m looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team.”

Jeff Hordley admits Cain will ‘do what he needs to’ when the truth about Tom’s abuse comes out

Belle is missing in Emmerdale, but Cain and Charity are hot on their tails and Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain, has revealed Cain will stop at nothing to protect his sister.

And it seems she really does need his help when he and Charity arrive at the holiday cottage where Belle and Tom have gone on holiday to find the place trashed, blood on the walls and absolutely no sign of Belle or Tom. Where are they? And how will Cain deal with this situation?

So what has happened to Belle in Emmerdale?

Spoilers for next week’s Emmerdale have revealed that Charity and Cain are very worried for Belle’s safety. And we all know they are definitely right to be!

Charity makes a discovery that Belle has missed some of her mental health appointments. With the other Dingle women thinking Charity is overreacting after the other week’s drama, she decides Cain is her best bet at being believed. Confiding in him Tom reminds her of Bails, that’s enough to make Cain sit up and take notice.

Together they break into Belle and Tom’s house. They find his surveillance equipment and her phone hidden in a drawer. Really worried now, Tom’s budget book throws up a lead to a remote Welsh cottage. So off Charity and Cain head.

It isn’t long before they’re in Wales, at the cottage. But what greets them is not a pretty sight: a trashed cottage with blood on the walls. And no sign of Belle or Tom.

Jeff Hordley hints ‘old Cain’ could be on his way back to Emmerdale – and it’s about time!

Speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other media recently, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley has hinted that Cain’s violent side may make an appearance as he seeks to protect Belle from Tom.

The star teased: “Well, [Belle’s] his little sister. I think if somebody hurt his little sister in particular, there’s no saying what Cain would do.”

He then added: “He’ll do what he needs to do to be able to make things right,” when it comes to protecting Belle from Tom.

It’s fair to say Tom has really underestimated the Dingles if he thinks he can take them on and win. But does he realise quite what he’s let himself in for? Once Belle is found and the truth is out, we would not like to be in Tom’s shoes at all.

Emmerdale spoilers: Charity reveals all to Cain

Charity has been worried about Belle for a few weeks. She tried to talk to her about her marriage to Tom a while ago, but Belle shut down all Charity’s attempts to get her to open up.

Luckily for Belle, Charity hasn’t given up. She’s been keeping an eye on the younger Dingle and making sure things are okay from a distance.

So when Charity hears about Tom’s job interview in Wales, she’s not happy. And when she realises that he and Belle have gone away from the village, she frets about what’s really going on.

She can’t shake her worries, so she calls Cain and tells him that Tom reminds her of Bails – the dodgy policeman who abused her as a teenager.

Charity suffered badly at the hands of Bails, and eventually turned the tables years later as an adult when she testified against him in court and saw him banged up for what he did to her.

But she’s still haunted by his abuse which is why when she tells Cain what she sees in Tom, Cain takes her worries seriously.

In fact, the next day, when he can’t get hold of Belle either, he’s soon concerned about his younger sister, too.

So with both Dingles increasingly uneasy, they decide it’s time to act.

Taking matters into their own hands, they break into Tom and Belle’s house. They rummage through their belongings, determined to find out where they’ve gone.

But they’re alarmed by Tom’s surveillance equipment – creepy! And when Charity finds Belle’s phone shoved in a drawer, she’s even more concerned.

Belle’s nowhere to be found, though. Where is she? Where is Tom? And have Charity and Cain arrived too late?!
