In Emmerdale spoilers for next week the vile truth about Anthony spreads, leaving Cain absolutely horrified.

Cain has been growing more and more suspicious of Anthony’s true nature. Not long ago he walked in on Ruby and her dad having an intense talk – where she aimed a knife at Anthony.

Since then he has been quietly asking about Anthony’s character. And while Ruby told him her dad was asking questions about their relationship, Cain didn’t believe this was the whole truth.

He even asked Caleb if Anthony could be harmful, but Caleb insisted that his father-in-law was dying and needed his family.

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Marlon despaired as Rhona’s past came back to haunt her

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Marlon despaired as Rhona’s past came back to haunt her

In Emmerdale tonight, Marlon Dingle despaired as the local newspapers dredged up ghosts from Rhona’s past amid the disappearance of April. As her painkiller addiction and baby kidnapping hit the headlines, Marlon’s fears that April might be dead only grew.

Elsewhere, as a guilty Dawn tried to avoid Joe, he attempted to build bridges with Noah – only for an angry Ross to try and warn him off. Meanwhile, Cain and the boys gave Moira some much-needed support, and Anthony had his algebra lesson with Angelica.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, January 13.

    Marlon despaired in Emmerdale tonight

As the episode began, Marlon had a vivid dream of April’s death, picturing himself running through the woods, where police had found her body. He woke up in a state, having slept on the sofa to guard for any more intruders.

As Mary rallied the troops, Marlon was frustrated that everyone else seemed to be getting back to normal. Vanessa had some more bad news for the family – popping around, she showed the family a Hotten Courier article dredging up Rhona’s past, her painkiller addiction and the whole kidnapping baby Ivy thing.

At The Woolpack, Marlon wallowed in the worst of the comments. Mary’s fears that April might be dead left him even more upset and angry, and he lashed out – publicly screaming at Mary and the others for having given up.

Out back, he confided in Rhona about his nightmare – and his fears that Mary might be right. Instead, a visit from case worker Anna had good news – CCTV footage had spitted April on the streets of Leeds, very much alive and well.

    Good news for once!

    Ross menaces Joe on Emmerdale

Joe’s sick, and Ross passed on a message

Marlon wasn’t the only one who had a bad night’s sleep – Joe Tate awoke, immediately downing a handful of pills to manage his mystery illness.

He paid visit to Noah, hoping to make amends for badmouthing the Dingles. Trying to get into his half-brother’s good books, he offered to put in a good word with a mate to score them both some VIP tickets to a Leeds match.

Just then, a bickering Charity and Ross walked in. Charity was less than happy to see Joe hanging around, and quickly gave him his marching orders. Ross, meanwhile, was even less pleased to see the man he held responsible for his acid attack.

With Joe gone, Charity tried to bar Noah from seeing his half-sibling – but this only succeeded in helping Noah over to Joe’s side. Charity bonded with Ross over her distaste for Joe – telling him she’d put in a good word with Moses if he passed on a ‘message.’

Sneaking onto Home Farm, Ross confronted Joe with the ‘receipts’ – warning him that he’d be a dead man if he went near Noah again. Will Joe get the message?

Dawn felt guilty as Joe swaggered about

At Home Farm, Dawn tried to hide her guilty conscience from Billy. Not easy when the man she locked lips with is living under the same roof. As she kissed her husband goodbye, Joe accused her of ‘overcompensating’ and feeling jealous about his other exploits.

Cain talks to Moira on Emmerdale

Moira spent the day with her family

Moira was in a rush to complete the household work before radiotherapy tomorrow. A nervous Moira faced questioning from the kids while Cain dished out the chores to an annoyed Matty.

Looking to do something nice with the boys, Moira promised to take them out to the climbing wall. As the family left, Cain spotted Kyle thieving cash from the family funds jar. What is the lad up to?

Later, in the cafe, Cain stood by Moira, pledging to stick by her throughout her procedure. Later, he also covered for Kyle when she discovered the money missing from the jar.

At least the money had been put to a good cause – and, as Kyle arrived home, he handed over a gift to Moira from him and Isaac; a special moisturizer for radiotherapy patients.

“Knowing that I’ve got you three by my side, I think I can cope with anything,” a loved-up Moira swooned. Cue the guilty looks from Cain.

Anthony got his feet under Nicola’s table on Emmerdale tonight

As news about Rhona’s past began to spread, Nicola was quick to point out to Anthony that the article’s claims were all true. “What happened in the past should stay there,” she said, charitably. Anthony would no doubt agree.

Following his lesson with Angelica, he was full of praise, describing her as a model student. Thrilled by her daughter’s progress, Nicola told him he’d have to come around for some of her, uh, lamb and date tagine. Pardon us – for once, Anthony isn’t the only thing turning our stomach.

April is alive! But when will she come home? Everything we know about what happens next

It’s been revealed in Emmerdale that April Windsor is alive, but will the teenager return home?

April disappeared from her home on Christmas Day, causing her family and friends to go out of their minds as they search for her.

With Marlon Dingle receiving news that his daughter is alive, will the pair be reunited soon?

    April goes missing in Emmerdale

Before going missing, April discovered the truth about her mother Donna’s death from Ross Barton.

This caused the teen to go off the rails and she bunked off school and took up drinking. She also clashed with her father on numerous occasions as she hated that he had not been honest with her.

On Christmas Day morning, Marlon went to April’s bedroom to check on his daughter, but she wasn’t there. Viewers later saw her getting into a mysterious car, not to be seen again.

Since Christmas Day, the village has come together to support Marlon and Rhona, and numerous searches have taken place.

They thought they had a breakthrough when someone was admitted to hospital with April’s purse and bank card. However, the victim was not April.

    April is alive in Emmerdale

During tonight’s episode (January 13), Marlon woke from a nightmare in which April’s body was discovered. He later confessed that there was a real possibility that his daughter really was dead.

As the family continued to support each other they received a message from the family liaison officer who said she had news.

Back at home, Marlon and Rhona waited for Anna to arrive. When she did, she shared with them that there had been a potential sighting of April.

Marlon and Rhona were then shown CCTV footage of a girl running along a street in central Leeds. Marlon and Rhona confirmed that it was definitely April, with Marlon breathing a sigh of relief as he said, ‘she’s alive.’

    Is April coming back?

Spoilers for upcoming episodes reveal Marlon travels to Leeds in search of April. He sees a young girl who from a distance looks like April. But as he runs towards her, he is shocked to come face-to-face with Ross instead.

There is an altercation between the two men, but soon Ross tries to support Marlon. He does his best to buoy Marlon and keep up his hopes of finding April.

However, Marlon can’t help but feel overwhelmed at the task as he is surrounded by reminders that April is just one of hundreds of thousands of missing people.

While there is no confirmation when April will return, it appears that she hasn’t left the show so she’ll most likely be back on screen soon.

  • Recognise the police officer working on April’s case? Here’s where you know Rhea Bailey from

Recognise the police officer working on April’s case? Here’s where you know Rhea Bailey from

With the search for April Windsor heating up in Emmerdale, more police have been brought in to help, and one of them is a familiar face – former Coronation Street star Rhea Bailey.

April went missing on Christmas Day following a tough few weeks for the teen. Viewers saw April get into a mystery car, but there have been no sightings, leaving dad Marlon devastated.

Rhea Bailey appeared in Emmerdale tonight (Monday, December 30) as Anna, the family liaison officer on April’s case. Here’s the lowdown on the star.

Rhea Bailey in Emmerdale – the latest

After Marlon Dingle and Mary Goskirk had conducted yet another search for April, there was a knock at the door. The woman, played by Rhea Bailey, introduced herself as Anna, the family liaison officer.

However, she didn’t have the news the family were hoping for as she informed Marlon, Rhona and Mary that they had no new leads in the search for April.

Anna was interested in April’s state of mind before her disappearance, suggesting that she could have left of her own accord because she was upset after learning the truth about how her mum Donna Windsor died. This theory was supported by the search of the house, where they discovered there was money missing as well as some of April’s belongings.

Marlon lost his temper with Anna on a couple of occasions, but she remained calm as she tried to help the family through the difficult time.

Anna supported the family through an awful time when they were summoned into the hospital when Jacob informed them that a stabbing victim had come into A&E with April’s purse.

Marlon and Rhona were then told that the victim had died, needing to view the body to identify whether it was April or not. The couple didn’t know how to feel when they confirmed that it wasn’t April after all.

Anna apologised to the couple for this ordeal, continuing the quest to find missing April.

    Early years and famous family

Rhea was born in Leeds on July 12, 1983. She is the younger sister of singer Corinne Bailey Rae – most famous for her hit Put Your Records On. The actress is engaged to Darren Everest of The Overtones.

Growing up in West Yorkshire, Rhea was just three years old when she told her mum she wanted to be an actress. At the age of 14, she was allowed to go to stage school. Her first big job came just two years later, when she landed the role of Emma in Children’s Ward.

    Rhea Bailey in The Bill

Rhea starred in police drama The Bill between 2008 and 2010. She played PC Mel Ryder, who was described as “ballsy and straight-talking”.

Her notable storylines included when her younger brother Jordan was implicated in a stabbing over Christmas in 2008. Fortunately, for Mel, following the investigation, Jordan was able to walk free.

In 2010, Mel rescued a young boy from drowning in a flooded drain. She then became trapped, putting her life in jeopardy. However, she was rescued by Inspector Dale Smith, who received a hero’s reception for his troubles.

    Caz Hammond in Coronation Street

In 2015, Rhea joined Coronation Street, where she played Caz Hammond, who was the fiancée of Kate Connor.

Caz was also a soldier, which meant that originally she was back and forth. During one of her visits, Caz became jealous of Kate’s friendship with Sophie Webster.

Caz became quite deranged and slightly unstable. On one occasion, she threatened Sophie and told her to stay away from Kate. This threat was ignored and Caz caught Kate and Sophie kissing – confirming her suspicions

Caz went back to the army. However, she soon returned to the Street, claiming she had injured her ankle. Kate agreed to look after Caz, but it was later revealed that Caz was faking the injury to get close to Kate again.

After Kate and Caz finally broke up, Caz became obsessed with Maria instead and proceeded to stalk her. Caz ended up setting Maria up for her own murder. The truth eventually came out and Caz was arrested.

What else has Rhea Bailey been in?

Following her stint in Children’s Ward, Rhea starred in 9 episodes of soap Crossroads as Chloe Simms.

She has also appeared in episodes of Casualty, Cold Feet, Merseybeat, Donovan and Torchwood.

Other notable roles include 4 episodes of daytime soap Doctors in 2007, where she played a character called Stella Parkman. She also played DC Lisa Goodall in 6 episodes of Blue Murder in 2006.

In 2006, she landed the role of Yasmin Deardon in series 1 of school drama Waterloo Road. Yasmin’s twin brother was killed in a car crash caused by another student at the school, Donte Charles. Yasmin’s story arc saw her learn to forgive Donte.

Will Emmerdale be sacrificed to save rival ITV soap Coronation Street? Fans fear so

Emmerdale fans have taken to social media to express their fear that the soap will be axed to save Coronation Street.

Recent reports have claimed that ITV is struggling financially and are having to make several cuts.

Fans are concerned that there is only room for one soap and they fear that Emmerdale will be sacrificed.

    ITV cash crisis

Reports from The Sun have claimed that ITV is struggling financially. Coronation Street actress Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley, also made these claims during a live Instagram Q&A.

Recent weeks have also seen several high profile stars quit or be axed from Coronation Street, including Charlotte Jordan (Daisy), Sue Cleaver (Eileen), Sue Devaney (Debbie) and Colson Smith (Craig).

While over at Emmerdale, Daisy Campbell (Amelia) and Dean Andrews (Will) recently left the show, with Paula Lane (Ella), Lesley Dunlop (Brenda), Roxy Shahidi (Leyla) and Susan Cookson (Wendy) set to follow suit.

Fans fear Emmerdale will be axed

Emmerdale fans are worried that Coronation Street is seen as more important than Emmerdale, meaning Emmerdale is more at risk of the axe.

“If it came down to it, ITV would sacrifice Emmerdale to save Corrie,” one fan wrote online. While another added: “Emmerdale would go first as the sacrificial lamb.”

A third fan said: “As people have said they’ll scrap Emmerdale before Corrie goes. It feels that ITV itself is linked into Coronation Street in a way. If Corrie goes then I’m not sure what ITV looks like in the future.”

However, some fans feel it is more likely that the number of episodes will be cut before either of them are axed. “Coronation Street and Emmerdale would cut production back to just 2 days per week before they would axe one of them,” wrote a viewer on Facebook. While other viewers threatened to boycott Coronation Street if Emmerdale was axed.

  • Ross Barton and Joe Tate: From acid attack to Debbie love triangle – here’s exactly why they hate each other

Ross Barton and Joe Tate: From acid attack to Debbie love triangle – here’s exactly why they hate each other

Last year saw the return of two popular characters to Emmerdale, as Ross and Joe made their way back. The two share some interesting history, too.

Ross Barton first arrived in Emmerdale in 2013. He left in 2018, before returning six years later.

Meanwhile, Joe Tate appeared in Emmerdale from his birth back in 1995. He left alongside his aunt Zoe in 2005 before returning as an adult in 2017. He too left in 2018, only to return again six years later.

During their over-lapping time in the village Ross and Joe came to blows on numerous occasions. Here we take a look at the history between the pair and why they’re not each other’s biggest cheerleaders.

    Emmerdale's Joe and Debbie serious

    History with Debbie

Ross has a complicated history with Debbie Dingle. The two started having an affair while Debbie was engaged to Ross’ brother Pete.

Although Debbie ended the affair, Ross and Debbie continued to have a connection and she later asked him to move in.

Debbie left the village for a while, but upon her return, Ross once again attempted to start things up with her. However, this time she declined.

Meanwhile, Joe Tate arrived back in Emmerdale using the name Tom Waterhouse. ‘Tom’ seduced Debbie and gifted her a Bentley. He also bought Jacob’s Fold for her and her children Sarah and Jack to live in.

He later told Debbie the truth – that he was really Joseph Tate. Joe informed Debbie that she was just collateral damage in his bid for revenge against Charity, who he blamed for driving his dad Chris to suicide.

    History with Charity

The two men are also linked via Charity Dingle. After marrying Chris Tate in 2001, Charity became Joe’s stepmother.

After discovering that Charity was having an affair with Cain Dingle, he chucked her out. Knowing he only had months to live due to an incurable brain tumour, Chris poisoned himself in order to try and frame Charity for his murder.

Following Chris’s death, Charity went on to give birth to his son – Noah, making him Joe’s half-brother. When Joe returned in 2017, he still held a grudge and attempted to get revenge on Charity.

Ross, meanwhile, had a one night stand with Charity which resulted in the birth of Moses. Upon his return to the village last year, Ross made a move on Charity, proving he still has a soft spot for her.

    Acid attack

After Joe left Debbie jobless and homeless, Ross agreed to help Debbie. He agreed to act as a double agent and got himself a job as Joe’s driver.

However, when Joe discovered his duplicity, he fired Ross. Ross then stole one of Joe’s cars and drove back home. But he was unaware that Debbie had asked drug dealer Simon to mess Joe up.

In a case of mistaken identity, Simon doused Ross with acid.

Epic showdown in Emmerdale between Ross and Joe

Ross was convinced that Joe was behind the acid attack and vowed to get revenge. He took Graham Foster hostage and once Joe arrived, Ross told him he had a gun with a single bullet loaded – but he didn’t know when it would fire.

Ross then preceded to play his own version of Russian Roulette. Every time Joe refused to confess to throwing acid at Ross, Ross pulled the trigger.

In a bid to protect Debbie, Joe eventually confessed to the crime. However, a scuffle broke out and the men were horrified when they realised Debbie had walked in and been shot.

As Joe and Ross argued over who loved Debbie more, she was rushed to hospital and fortunately survived.

Ross and Joe are back in Emmerdale village

In 2024, Ross arrived back in Emmerdale first as part of Billy’s illegal boxing storyline. While Joe arrived on Christmas Eve when it was revealed he was behind the plan to get revenge on Kim Tate.

Upcoming scenes see Ross and Joe go head to head again. After Joe tries to get back into his half brother Noah’s good books again, Charity is adamant she doesn’t want Joe being close to her son.

Charity enlists Ross to put the scares on Joe. Ross’ threats obviously work and Joe backs out of taking Noah to a football match. But this is unlikely to be the end of it…
