2 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight: Steph continues to try, and Kim gets emotional

In Emmerdale spoilers for tonight, Steph continues to try and get Ruby to forgive Anthony. And Kim gets emotional at Will’s request.

Last night’s episode (Thursday December 12) was an incredibly hard-hitting instalment of the soap. We finally got answers to why Ruby hates Anthony, and it was sadly exactly what fans predicted.

We can only imagine that the storyline has more twists to come, especially as an unknowing Steph is still adamant to bring them together.

But elsewhere in the village, Will proposes an idea to Kim that leaves her emotional and him guilty. Is he in too deep with this plan?

Read on for full Emmerdale spoilers of tonight’s episode.

Emmerdale spoilers: Steph doesn’t give up.

Everything about Ruby and her father’s relationship made sense after yesterday’s episode. Including why he didn’t want her around when she was pregnant.

Ruby was sexually assaulted by Anthony when she was a child. And while the flashbacks only showed her 16th birthday, it was clear that was not the first time.

Caleb also emphasised that Steph was his daughter, so could Emmerdale be about to pull a hugely dark twist where she is really Anthony’s? The timings do line up..

But while we, as viewers, know this, her on-screen family remain oblivious. Which means Steph hasn’t given up her attempts to get them to be a united family.

Tonight, she once again uses her best efforts to bring her family together again. We doubt it’s ever going to work, but when will the truth be revealed?

    Will’s guilt sets in

The back and forth between Kim and Will continues. And it looks like the saga will finally come to an end on Christmas Day.

Earlier in the week the pair returned from their trip, and Peter revealed to Will that there was someone else they were working for. Someone who desperately wanted to take Kim down.

We know we’re getting a Christmas Day return, and fans have been bombarding social media with their predictions – Joe Tate? Jamie Tate?

But tonight an oblivious Kim continues to put effort into their Christmas together, to represent a new start to their relationship.

However, that’s not the case with Will. Doing what he was told to do by Peter, Will proposes they renew their vows on Christmas Day.

The question makes Kim extremely emotional, as the Tate icon hasn’t got a clue about his secret plan.

But some fans do seem to think she is playing him. And we also know Home Farm is taking centre stage this Christmas, so what exactly will happen?

  • Beth Cordingly deserves all the awards as emotional Emmerdale fans call tonight’s episode ‘incredible’ and ‘powerful’

Beth Cordingly deserves all the awards as emotional Emmerdale fans call tonight’s episode ‘incredible’ and ‘powerful’

Emmerdale aired powerful scenes during tonight’s episode, with emotional fans calling Beth Cordingly and her performance ‘outstanding’.

Since the arrival of her estranged daughter and father, it’s been clear that Ruby Fox-Miligan has been holding something back. The truth was finally revealed in a special hour-long episode tonight (Thursday, December 12).

The episode, which featured flashback scenes, has been described by viewers as ‘incredible’, while Beth, who plays Ruby, was singled out for praise.

What happened to Ruby in Emmerdale?

Since Ruby’s dad Anthony arrived in the village, viewers have been speculating about why Ruby hates him so much and tonight they got their answers.

Prior to broadcast, Emmerdale shared a trigger warning and confirmed that Ruby was the victim of sexual abuse as a child. Tonight’s flashback scenes revealed just what happened.

After Steph discovered a photo of her mum celebrating her 16th birthday, Ruby’s mind was taken back to that day in 1992.

In the present day, oblivious Steph met up with her grandad, where she told him she was hopeful that he and her mum could repair their relationship.

However, further flashbacks revealed why that might not be possible. As the episode went on, there were several triggers which took Ruby back to her 16th birthday – Cain’s birthday cake and Anthony telling Caleb Miligan that Ruby had been a hypochondriac when she was younger.

In the present day, Ruby told her dad: “We both know exactly what happened on my 16th,” with the final flashback clearing everything up. Horrific scenes showed Anthony taking birthday cake to Ruby in her room. As he locked the door behind him, a distressed Ruby told him: “Please dad, I don’t feel very well.”

Anthony responded: “You’ve always been a bit of a hypochondriac. You’ve been fine all day.” In a chilling moment, 16-year-old Ruby pleaded: “Please not again. Not today.”

It was also revealed that Steph was conceived around that time, with Caleb implying he and Ruby had done the deed just a few days after Ruby’s 16th. Could Anthony be Steph’s father?

Fans praise Beth Cordingly in Emmerdale

Emmerdale viewers rushed to social media to praise the show and, in particular, star Beth Cordingly.

Writing on X, one viewer said: “Beth Cordingly is absolutely outstanding in tonight’s @emmerdale. The storyline is very, very difficult to watch but a very important one to tell.”

Another fan said: “Tonight’s #Emmerdale was incredible and powerful. Beth Cordingly is fantastic as Ruby.”

Beth Cordingly (Ruby) is just an incredible actress and the best thing to happen to Emmerdale. She’s awesome!” shared one more.

  • Emmerdale was right to do Ruby’s storyline, but it is a painful watch – OPINION

Emmerdale was right to do Ruby’s storyline, but it is a painful watch – OPINION

Emmerdale revealed the truth about Ruby and her relationship with her sinister father in tonight’s episode – and it was pretty shocking.

In a series of flashbacks to Ruby’s 16th birthday viewers saw the reason for Ruby’s extreme reaction to her dad’s return to her life. It turned out poor Ruby was a victim of sexual violence by her father and suddenly her panic attacks and struggle to cope with her dad’s presence made sense.

    Flashbacks to the past

The episode was cleverly done – swapping between the Dingles gathering for Cain’s 50th celebrations and flashbacks to Ruby’s 16th birthday.

At first, viewers were led to believe that Ruby’s old friend Rob could have been involved in her trauma. Anthony pointed him out in the photograph of the party and asked Ruby if she was sorry they’d lost touch.

“He was one of the good ones,” Ruby commented.

    Emmerdale Ruby was struggling

As the episode went on, it was clear Ruby was struggling. Despite her slapping on a brave face and forcing herself along to Cain’s party, it was obvious she wasn’t comfortable.

And when the flashbacks revealed more, we could see why. It turned out, Rob was gay and only a friend to Ruby. It was Anthony who was the real predator.

In the present day, he clocked the tension between Cain and Ruby, and realised what had happened, making barbed comments to his distressed daughter.

The flashback was even more upsetting as after the party, Anthony came into Ruby’s bedroom and told her that her mum – Helen – had gone round to a friend’s.

Clearly frightened, Ruby begged her father not to do it again as he came towards her…

    A dark twist

Back in the present day, there was a grim moment as Anthony toasted Steph and told Caleb very pointedly that he was lucky Steph was his daughter. WHAT did he mean by that? Is he Steph’s father?

This storyline is one of the darkest in Emmerdale’s history – and if it turns Anthony is both Steph’s grandfather and father, then it’s unprecedented in soap.

There have been family sexual abuse stories in soaps before, going right back to Brookside’s Beth Jordache’s ordeal at the hands of father Trevor, and Mandy Richardson in Hollyoaks being abused by her dad, Dennis.

Since then we’ve seen Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle face his abusive dad Gordon in court, and Paul Foreman deal with his grooming by his stepdad Kel Hinchley in Coronation Street.

Plus Hollyoaks recently tackled sibling sexual abuse with JJ and Frankie.

But it feels like Emmerdale is breaking new ground with this story.

A tricky one for Emmerdale to tackle – and for Ruby

There is no doubt that Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby, and Nicholas Day, AKA Anthony, have the acting chops to pull this storyline off.

Beth Cordingly has already made us so invested in Ruby’s past – brilliantly portraying her alter ego as damaged and vulnerable as well as brash and confident.

And yet – there’s something about this storyline that leaves us a little uncomfortable.

We’ve been watching soaps for a long time. We know they handle tricky topics sensitively and carefully, and play a huge role in raising awareness and sharing messages.

Emmerdale in particular has managed to pull off huge stunts, shocking stories and dramatic confrontations before the watershed.

But in this case, this storyline is very grim, very dark, and possibly more suited to a late-night gritty drama than primetime soap.

We’ve got faith in Emmerdale’s writers, actors and crew but this will be a tricky story to get right. We’ll wait and see what happens next.

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Ruby’s history with her dad was exposed in upsetting scenes

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Ruby’s history with her dad was exposed in upsetting scenes

Emmerdale aired devastating flashbacks for Ruby Fox-Miligan tonight as it was revealed her father had sexually abused her as a child. The worst attack came on her 16th birthday – and possibly conceived Steph.

Elsewhere, Tom tried to manipulate Jimmy, but it didn’t work, and Moira lashed out at Cain in front of everyone, before they made up. But for how long?

Here’s everything that happened in a rather difficult-to-watch Emmerdale tonight, Thursday December 12.

The truth about Ruby and her dad was revealed in Emmerdale tonight

Ruby was looking at an old photo of her 16th birthday and had a flashback. Steph noticed a boy in the picture, Rob, was looking lovingly at her, but Ruby dismissed her. However she was still having flashbacks to her birthday that were clearly distressing her.

When Anthony arrived at the house he started talking about her sweet 16 too. Ruby was clearly uncomfortable, especially as he kept banging on about this Rob. The memories of the party continued to haunt Ruby and she recalled leading Rob up to her bedroom and her dad looking angry about it.

Ruby then went to Cain’s party and insisted a bottle of wine was the only way to celebrate. She also had a clandestine conversation with Cain that was clocked by Anthony. He got abusive with Ruby telling her she slept around and he knew all about it.

As they talked about Rob again, we flashed back to Ruby giving Rob condoms and it turned out he was gay and going to meet his boyfriend. As Anthony again accused her of sleeping with Rob on her 16th birthday, Ruby spat:”We both know exactly what happened on my 16th,” leaving Anthony looking worried.

Ruby continued flashing back to that night when Anthony had got rid of her mother and took Ruby some cake up to her bedroom. He then closed and locked the door as Ruby begged him: “Please not again, please not today.”

As we came back to the present day, Steph joked about being a ’16th birthday baby’ and Caleb stressed again she was his daughter, which made it very clear Anthony is (probably) Steph’s real dad.

It was all very grim, but all credit to Beth Cordingly whose calm, but shaky performance has us all gripped.

Tom was not giving up in Emmerdale tonight

Elsewhere, from one manipulative creep to another, Tom was causing trouble again. Jimmy was trying to make Christmas magical for Angelica, who was still banging on about her cousin. A giant inflatable Santa wasn’t going to cut it.

So Jimmy decided to do as she asked and visit Tom in prison. Tom started with an apology and admitted he was struggling Although that’s probably just another act of manipulation. Tom continued to tell Jimmy horror stories of being in prison to try and scare him into helping him.

Although Jimmy agreed to visit and give Tom a second chance, it was on the basis he changed his plea to guilty. Of course, Tom continued to blame Belle and once again lost his temper calling Jimmy an idiot.

But actually, on this occasion Jimmy wasn’t an idiot, because he left and told Tom very clearly he had burnt his last bridge.

Tom turned his manipulation back to solicitor Ollie, who admitted his defence was strong, but it all comes down to his word against Belle’s. Ollie suggested they rehearse his performance in court, but Tom wasn’t interested, instead he has another plan. Sigh. It involved Ollie going to visit Angelica and getting her to help them by posting a video online.

    Moira and Cain reunited

Cain was feeling remorseful, but Moira wasn’t really interested. However they were still continuing with Cain’s surprise party – for the sake of the kids.

At the party he just kept slipping up and Moira was still not forgiving. She made a massive scene in the pub in front of everyone before rushing out and Chas and Charity took Cain to task. They went on about him being the head of the family again and once more he made out he was just scared.

When he went to speak to Moira, she told him he needed to be there for her because she didn’t think their marriage could survive much more. Cain surprised her by saying he’d spoken to her consultant, made extensive notes and also put together a plan to cover the farm while she was having treatment. They reunited, but the Ruby secret is still hanging over him…

Will showed no signs of remorse

Kim and Will returned home from Italy. Kim was deliriously in love, Will insisted he wasn’t having second thoughts about them and they planned Paris for Valentine’s Day. So lovely and happy. Except he’s still plotting against her.

Meeting with Peter later on, Will insisted he needed it all done by Christmas. However, Peter delivered the news there had been a change of plan. He told Will the mystery third party had insisted Christmas Day was the day it would all play out. The man in question (so we know it’s a man!) is out of the country until Christmas Eve. He will contact Will when the time is right.

  • Ruby will kill her dad, new fan theory predicts

Ruby will kill her dad, new fan theory predicts

Fans of Emmerdale have predicted a murderous twist to the story of Ruby Fox-Miligan and her dad. This comes as the soap prepares to reveal exactly what Anthony did to Ruby on her sixteenth birthday, resulting in all those years of trauma and misery.

Ruby is clearly struggling with her estranged father being back on the scene, especially given how quickly he seems to have wriggled his way back into her life.

Anthony was in a particularly smug mood last night as he offered a weak apology for meddling in Caleb and Ruby’s affairs. And, as he showed up at the house, Steph even managed to score him an invite to Cain’s birthday party. Forced to play nice, Ruby swallowed her obvious pain in the face of Anthony’s smugness.

And, as Ruby’s situation continues to worsen, one fan has wondered whether Ruby might kill her father.

Emmerdale fan predicts that Ruby will kill her dad

Writing on X as last night’s scenes aired, one fan wondered whether Ruby might snap and kill Anthony.

“Ruby killing Antony?” this viewer suggested.

But if not Ruby, others were still hopeful that Anthony might meet his end before too long.

“I hope Anthony dies a slow and painful death and hopefully at Caleb’s hands,” said another, reacting to the confirmation that Anthony had indeed abused his daughter as a teenager.

“Anthony, be warned, your past will catch up with you,” another said.

The truth is revealed in flashback to Ruby’s 16th

In scenes airing tonight, the truth about Anthony’s evil will be revealed during a series of flashbacks to Ruby’s sixteenth birthday party.

In the difficult episode, the soap reveals that Ruby was the victim of sexual abuse by her father as a teenager.

Although the scenes are not graphic, Emmerdale issued a warning to viewers on social media.

The message read: “In tomorrow’s episode (Thursday 12th), Emmerdale will contain references to sexual violence that viewers could find distressing.” It was accompanied by a website link where viewers could seek advice.”

Fans have praised the soap for its sensitivity in providing a trigger warning for this terrible subject matter.

  • Recognise Ruby’s mum in Emmerdale? Here’s where you know Sharon Maughan from – including her famous husband and soap past

Recognise Ruby’s mum in Emmerdale? Here’s where you know Sharon Maughan from – including her famous husband and soap past

Emmerdale viewers will see Ruby’s mum Helen, played by Sharon Maughan, in tonight’s episode (Thursday December 12). She appears in flashback scenes to Ruby’s 16th birthday.

Helen was last seen on screen back in September where she appeared in two episodes. Ruby had not seen her mother in 30 years. However, when Helen was dying she wanted to reconnect with her estranged daughter before it was too late.

Here’s everything we know about Ruby and Helen’s relationship in Emmerdale as well as where you’ve seen Sharon Maughan before.

Sharon Maughan as Helen in Emmerdale.

    What is Helen’s story?

Ruby’s estrangement from her parents was thought to be due to their disapproval over her relationship with Caleb.

Speaking about the past, William Ash, who plays Caleb explained: “They hated him because he’d come out of a care home, he didn’t have any family and thought he was beneath their daughter. So, Helen was really snobby and judgemental. Helen and Ruby’s dad gave Ruby an ultimatum. They basically said ‘look if you want to be with this boy then we don’t want anything to do with you’. They basically just cut Ruby dead.”

It has since turned out they kicked Ruby out when she fell pregnant at 16. And now her dad Anthony is in town, fans are speculating he abused Ruby and is actually Steph’s real dad.

Back in September, Caleb visited Helen in hospital after she repeatedly called Ruby. Helen was terminally ill, but still able to put up a fight. She eventually agreed to give Caleb £100k if he got Ruby to come to see her. However, unfortunately Ruby never got the chance as her mother died before she reached the hospital.

Ruby had no idea Helen had been in contact, nor that Caleb went to see her. But all of that came out at the will reading, when Ruby realised exactly what her husband had done. It looked like their marriage was over for a while, but Caleb begged and Ruby forgave again. But she will always wonder exactly what her mother had to say to her before she died.

It also turned out Caleb and Ruby’s estranged daughter, Steph, had been in touch with her grandma. Helen left everything to her in her will.

    As Tricia in Holby City

What else has Sharon Maughan been in?

The 74-year-old actress definitely has longevity on her side and has been acting since the early 1970s.

Depending on your era, there are various things you could know Sharon from. One of her most famous gigs was as part of the Gold Blend couple alongside Anthony Head in the 1980s.

She has had a steady flow of work and appeared in episodes of many a TV show, including The Enigma Files, Dombey & Son, Inspector Morse, Murder She Wrote, Heartbeat and The Bill.

Her biggest job saw her star in over 100 episodes of hospital soap Holby City, where she played staff nurse Tricia Williams in the early 2000s, who was the mum of popular character Chrissie.

Tricia survived breast cancer, only to be involved in a car crash. Her family had opposing views on what to do, but ultimately they decided to switch off her life support machine.

    Famous family

Her name doesn’t give it away, but Sharon Maughan has a famous husband – she is married to legendary actor Trevor Eve.

Most recently, you’d have seen Trevor in crime drama Unforgotten and spy drama Strike Back, but his most famous role came in Waking the Dead, where he played Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd throughout it’s nine-series run.

Sharon and Trevor married in 1980 and have three children together, one of whom, Alice, has also gone into acting.

In 2010, Trevor, Sharon and Alice all appeared in the film She’s Out of My League playing father, mother and daughter.

    That’s one talented family!

  • 6 reasons Ruby is the best character in Emmerdale right now

6 reasons Ruby is the best character in Emmerdale right now

She’s only been on Emmerdale for less than a year, but Ruby Fox-Miligan has already become one of the soap’s most iconic characters. Following husband Caleb into the village in the wake of his revenge plot against Kim Tate (whatever happened there, eh), Ruby quickly established herself as a figure to be reckoned with.

Recent weeks have seen her reckon with the arrival of her estranged daughter and father. While she was keen to make up with daughter Steph, seeing Anthony again has brought old traumas bubbling to the fore.

As a special episode tonight reveals exactly what evil Anthony committed all those years ago, we argue our case for Ruby being Emmerdale’s best character.

Ruby stares Kim Tate down in Emmerdale spoilers
Beth Cordingly stars as Ruby (Credit: ITV)

    1. Beth Cordingly’s performance as Ruby in Emmerdale

Former The Bill and Heartbeat actor Beth Cordingly, 48, has been a powerhouse since joining the soap. Between the explosive outbursts and her quiet heartbreak at years of betrayal and rejection, the star has taken it all in her stride. Love or hate Ruby (and there’s plenty in both camp), there’s no arguing that Beth Cordingly isn’t giving it her all.

“Beth Cordingly (Ruby) is just an incredible actress & the best thing to happen to Emmerdale. She’s awesome!” wrote one viewer on X this week.

    2. Her backstory

As they did with Caleb, the writers were slow to reveal Ruby’s history prior to arriving in the village. After reuniting with Caleb and after the exit of son Nicky, Ruby gradually began to open up about her family.

First there was mum Helen, who died before Ruby could see her one last time. Then, we learned about the existence of daughter Steph. But where was Steph? This became clear months later, as Steph arrived in town… with granddad Anthony in tow.

Ruby’s backstory keeps revealing layers to the character; each fresh revelation explaining her firebrand behaviour a little bit more.

“I have been desperate for AGES to find out more about Ruby and her backstory (and Caleb keeps RUINING it). I am becoming increasingly emotionally attached to this woman by the day,” wrote one fan.

“Enjoyable character. Rare for modern Emmerdale – I just want to know more of their past, there clearly is a lot there,” another agreed.

    3. Drama always follows Ruby on Emmerdale

Where there is Ruby, drama will be sure to follow. This was quickly established as she introduced herself to the in-laws by crashing Belle and Tom’s wedding party, exposing Caleb’s affair with Tracy and causing quite the circus.

She followed this up with a scuffle in the Woolpack, where she gave Cain a knee to the crown jewels and, later, elbowed Chas in the breast… only weeks after she’d undergone surgery for breast cancer.

Ruby may have made nice with the Dingles since, but chaos is never far away where Ruby is concerned.

    4. Her sharp tongue

Not only is Ruby a physically formidable figure (just ask Cain), she also possesses the sharpest tongue in the Dales. This was in full show earlier this week as dad Anthony confronted her over Caleb’s affair with Tracy.

When he pressed her over how she could stand for such a philanderer, she countered by telling him that cheating was a two way street. “You’re assuming it’s another man, then,” Ruby countered, when Anthony wondered who the other man is.

A smart comeback is never far away, even in the face of a man she’s obviously traumatised by.

    5. Her relationship with Caleb

No, hear us out. They may be one of the soap’s most toxic couples, but there’s no denying that their relationship is also one of its most interesting. Between his cheating (and hers), and her revenge plans (and his), plus their general incapability of being honest… they kind of deserve each other.

“We’ve only watched Ruby/Caleb onscreen for just under a year, yet their relationship is more complex than many couples we’ve followed for a decade,” wrote one fan.

“She’s a fantastic actor but a repugnant character, her and Caleb are very well suited,” said another.

    6. Her relationships with the other characters

Ruby made no shortage of enemies in the village upon her arrival, quickly upsetting each and every one of the Dingles. Months later, she was the recipient of one of Moira’s signature gifts from Glasgow, after Moira became convinced she’d been having an affair with Cain (yeah, about that…)

It’s to her credit, then, that she’s managed to win over all the haters; befriending Chas, bedding Cain and even making up with Moira. How that will all come crumbling down once the affair is exposed remains to be seen, but her interactions with the rest of the cast are nothing short of fabulous.

Cain and Ruby affair is undermining ‘important’ brain tumour storyline, fans say

Emmerdale fans have bemoaned a recent episode that saw Cain cheat on wife Moira with Ruby, saying it undermines the brain tumour storyline.

Recent scenes have seen Cain Dingle feel overwhelmed with guilt over what he has done, and he has been avoiding spending time with his wife while she recovers from brain surgery.

But Emmerdale viewers aren’t happy with this latest development as it takes focus away from Moira’s important brain tumour story.

Cain cheats on Moira with Ruby

Last month, while Moira was undergoing surgery for a brain tumour, Cain cheated on her with his sister-in-law Ruby Fox-Miligan.

The fling took place during a special episode which saw Moira dream of her dead daughter Holly Barton. In the same episode, Cain’s story was told in reverse chronological order.

Viewers first saw him with bloodied hands while drinking whiskey. As the clock went back further, viewers were shocked when Cain and Ruby were shown putting their clothes on.

Cain has been struggling with guilt ever since, and has been determined to keep himself busy in order to avoid spending time with his wife.

Earlier this week, while Moira recovered at home, Cain pretended he had to pick a car up in Dudley. He then lied that he was stuck there all night and instead spent the night parked up nearby in his van.

The following day he got himself arrested and thus wasn’t there when Moira got her test results.

    Fans angry at Emmerdale storyline

Viewers have already shared their frustration at the cheating storyline, but now some fans have pointed out that Cain and Ruby’s fling has undermined Moira’s brain tumour story.

Writing on Instagram, one viewer said: “I wish they never had that Ruby and Cain twist during Moira’s special episode. Very insensitive.” While another fan wrote: “Just completely the wrong story line here Emmerdale… you got this one wrong.”

Over on X, a third fan said: “Cain and Ruby is a ridiculous storyline. It’s completely overshadowed Moria’s and Ruby’s struggles.”

A fourth viewer added: “What have you done to Cain’s character more like?! It was such an important storyline, most people have forgot Moira’s symptoms by now.”

Another fan agreed, writing: “This went from unbelievable to unrealistic. Both actors deserve better especially Natalie, props to her making such an important storyline believable, even with the mess the writers made.” While a sixth viewer agreed, adding: “Having Cain sleep with Ruby for this nonsense was a ridiculous storyline decision.”

  • ‘Kim Tate needs her own family’ beg Emmerdale fans as they are desperate for someone to ‘truly have her back’

‘Kim Tate needs her own family’ beg Emmerdale fans as they are desperate for someone to ‘truly have her back’

Emmerdale fans have issued a plea to bosses to bring in the family of Kim Tate.

The soap icon, played by Claire King, made her first appearance on the soap in 1989 – only to leave 10 years later. Kim then made her triumphant return to Emmerdale in 2018 and has reclaimed her rightful place as a Dales legend.

But fans have recently been left wondering about her blood family, and have demanded bosses to bring them in as “everyone treats her like dirt”.

Emmerdale Kim Tate and her family

Very little is known about Kim, born Kim Barker, and her early background and upbringing. Her father was a telephone engineer and her mother was a hairdresser. Kim also had a younger sister.

In 1984, aged 25 Kim married into the iconic Tate clan, tying the knot to the abusive Frank. Kim went on to have a son, Jamie with him.

Kim survived Frank’s abuse and his attempt to kill her, and had him framed for her supposed murder. He ended up dying of a heart attack – brought on by Kim’s iconic return to the village after being presumed dead…

Meanwhile, Kim’s son Jamie rocked up the Dales in 2019, hell bent on bringing Kim down. He was last seen in 2021, and is living with Kim’s granddaughter Millie.

Although not blood-related, Kim is also close to Gabby Thomas, who used to date Jamie.

And in 2022, Kim married her fourth husband, Will Taylor, taking on the role of stepmum and step-grandmother to his daughter Dawn, and her kids. But as we know, things are very hit-and-miss with Kim and Will at the moment…

Emmerdale fans beg bosses to bring in Kim’s family

However, fans can’t help but think it’s about time the soap brought in some of Kim Tate’s family… (and we totally agree!)

On a Reddit thread, one person penned: “Kim literally has no one who will truly look out for her, I thought Gabby could play that role but I think it’s time they introduced Kim’s actual family and not another Tate out for revenge or family members out to get her.

“It would also mean she stopped pandering to ungrateful Dawn. I’m not clued up on Kim’s family tree but a loyal long lost sister who had kids would be nice, or just anybody who would have her back.”

‘Everyone just treats her like dirt’

Other Emmerdale fans agreed too. A second person pointed out how Kim’s sister was mentioned “a handful of times” on the soap in the ’90s.

The fan explained: “I think they were close even if she wasn’t on screen. I truly believe she could be the character who had her back. I do agree she needs someone because everyone just treats her like dirt and there’s no need to really.”

A third chimed in and mused: “I agree!! Bringing in her own family would be great to see!! Kim’s been treated like garbage by Will and his ungrateful daughter. I’d like to see a sister with her own teenage or young adult children move into Home Farm so misery guts Dawn can’t move back in! Also Will needs to go too!”
