Fans of Emmerdale have praised actor Amelia Flanagan for her performance as April in last night’s episode. This came as Jade kidnapped the teenager, determined to get her money back from Ross (who, it turned out, never even had it).
Having her thugs dangle April from the roof of a high-rise cark park, Jade soon proved that she wasn’t to be messed with. Rushing to the rescue, Ross managed to avert disaster – although this was more thanks to the arrival of Aaron and Mack, with Jade’s money.

April learns the truth about her mother’s death
Back at home, April was in surprisingly good spirits, considering she’d just been kidnapped and dangled over the side of a building. However, there was worse to come as she learned about the tragic circumstances behind mum Donna’s death.
Understandably, April was shaken to learn that her mother had taken her own life at that very same car park.
And, amid the revelations, fans found themselves impressed by the young actress’s performance.

Emmerdale aired old footage last night as Ross Barton had triggering flashbacks to when his lover Donna Windsor died. As he battled to save April from Jade and her henchmen, Ross had to fight his haunting past.
Fans found the old episodes interwoven with the new one very emotional. They felt they were reliving Donna’s death all over again.

Emmerdale last night
Jade proved to Ross she meant business about getting her £10k back on Thursday December 5 when she kidnapped April Windsor. She and her henchpeople drove April to the Hotten multistory carpark (where no one was parked, conveniently) and told Ross to get there fast – and alone.
He hijacked Billy’s car and raced to the carpark. But once there he realised exactly the significance of the venue: it was where Donna had died in 2014. As the soap aired footage from the event, Ross struggled to compose himself over April’s screams. She was being dangled over the edge of the roof and would only be brought to safety when Jade got her cash.
Fortunately, Mackenzie had come to his senses. He arrived with Aaron in the nick of time to hand back the money. Well, the seven grand that was left, at least. Although April was saved, Jade still wants her last £3k.
Ross then took April home and a throwaway comment led April to find out the truth about her mum’s death. She had only been five years old at the time, so had been shielded from it by Ross and her dad, Marlon.

How did Donna die in Emmerdale?
Donna had terminal lung cancer. She knew she didn’t have much longer left to live, so she got involved in criminal activity, alongside then-lover Ross. It was all to raise money to make sure her daughter was cared for after she’d gone.
But when she got involved with crime lord Gary North things went very wrong. Donna had tried to set Gary up on drugs charges, but he caught her and threatened April unless she retrieved some explicit photos for him.
Things turned bad and Donna and Gary ended up in a stand-off on the rooftop. She held her gun at him, but he promised to make April the subject of one of his photos if she shot. Donna then handcuffed herself to Gary and jumped over the roof.
Telling Ross she loved him, Donna knew she was going to die anyway and that taking Gary with her was the only way to keep April – and other young girls – safe. She then took her own life.

Fans heartbroken as they rewatch Donna scenes in Emmerdale
As the soap showed the scenes of Donna’s demise again, those watching at home were even more upset second time around.
“Verity Rushworth still so missed,” said one on social media with crying emojis.
Another added: “Brought memories back watching the Donna scene. Felt quite emotional! Brilliant acting from Amelia!”
“This episode in 2014 was so heartbreaking so to bring it all back was emotional but it was a brilliant episode,” agreed a third.
A fourth wrote: “Made me ever SO anxious watching a clip of Donna really LOVED her character and can’t believe you killed her off.”

In an eventful episode of Emmerdale last night, ruthless boxing promoter and gangster Jade kidnapped young April Windsor, hoping to use her as leverage against Ross.
Believing that Ross had taken her money, Jade kidnapped April, bundling her into the boot of her car and driving to a place Ross knew all too well… the high-rise parking garage where Donna had taken her own life.

As Ross begged for April’s life, Jade’s thugs showed no mercy – dangling the teenager over the edge of the roof. Thankfully, Mack and Aaron intervened, with Mack finally giving up the money he’d stolen in the first place.
From there, it was back to the village, where April learned the truth about her mother’s death, and Mack copped a beating. An eventful episode, but something about it didn’t sit right with viewers.

Viewers slam ‘car crash’ of an episode amid April kidnap
Taking to social media as the episode aired, fans were quick to share their thoughts on how events had unfolded – and few were satisfied with what had just went down.
“That was kind of a car crash for an episode,” sighed one fan in a discussion thread on Reddit. In the comments below, other viewers were quick to point out the many flaws in the episode.
“I feel like with it being the middle of the day surely somebody would’ve seen a literal child behind held over the edge of the car park and called the police?” asked another fan.
“The so called hard core criminals would be done for kidnap and attempted murder. The entire scene was like an episode of Laurel and Hardy,” wrote a third.
“The gangsters in Emmerdale are always so unbelievable. There must be cameras in that carpark as well,” another viewer pointed out.
“Would April really get into a car with a virtual stranger? Jade was on the left so she must’ve figured out that there would be someone else in there,” said one fan.

In Emmerdale tonight there was devastation for April after she was kidnapped, held over the roof of a multistory carpark and then found out the truth about her mum’s death.
Also, Ruby was faced with an impossible choice, and Brenda realised she had no future with Eric.
Here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday December 5.
Things got really bad for Ross and April
Jade made herself very clear to Ross (Credit: ITV)
April was kidnapped
Marlon wouldn’t let April go into Hotten after school shopping. Lucky, then, that Jade pulled up to provide a lift to school and a friendly listening ear.
Jade then called Ross with a video of April tied up in the boot of the car. Ross sped off in Billy’s car who warned him he couldn’t go anywhere without a plan. Billy caught up with Mack and Aaron and told them what was going on and Mack came to his senses and realised exactly what his actions have caused.

Memories of Donna haunted Ross
As Ross arrived at the multistory carpark where Donna died when she jumped over the edge while handcuffed to a criminal, Jade told Ross she had specifically picked the spot because of Donna and he had horrific flashbacks.
April screamed as she was held over the edge by Jade’s henchman. But Ross was frozen to the spot.
Coming to, Ross tried to talk Jade round, but she was clear: the money in exchange for April’s life.
And then along came Aaron and Mackenzie who saved the day by giving Jade her money back. Well, £7000 and change. Which obviously isn’t the £10k she wanted and she still wants Ross to pay it back. Jade is going away for a few days, but wants her £3k.
April was okay, but then she got more devastating news (Credit: ITV)
April found out the truth about her mum
Ross took April and left, but he made the mistake of saying he wasn’t going to let it happen again. April immediately picked up on it and confronted him.
He confessed he had been there when Donna died. He then told April her mum had jumped over the wall and April was devastated. She knew Donna could have stayed with her for longer, but she sacrificed their time together to catch a criminal.
At home Marlon tried to get through to April, who was sobbing, but she didn’t tell him what was really wrong.
Meanwhile, Ross gave Mackenzie a beating. And when Charity stepped in, he pushed her over too. And then Ross ended up being the bad guy when Moses was watching and begged his dad to stop. Charity told Ross he would never see his son again.

Ruby given a choice in Emmerdale tonight
Ruby was still trying to tell Caleb how distressed she is by her dad’s presence. She begged him to stand by her side and understand what she needs. Caleb promised he would. He then confronted Anthony in the street and told him he would always back Ruby, so Anthony decided to leave again. Only Steph caught him and stopped him. She decided to go with him and he promised to stay one more night so she could pack up.
Meanwhile Caleb realised that Anthony’s departure would affect their relationship with Steph. So he tried to talk to Ruby again. And she cracked open another bottle of wine. As she ranted about how much she hated her father and she didn’t care if he died, Steph walked in and told her they would never see her again if they cut Anthony out.
Caleb was furious that Ruby was ‘choosing’ to let Steph walk out of their lives. Ruby insisted she wasn’t choosing, this was not a choice, she couldn’t have her dad in her life. And Caleb still clearly couldn’t see how distressed she was and told her she had to accept Anthony so they could keep Steph. Here’s an idea, Caleb, trying realising your wife is going through something huge rather than shouting at her.

A break-up for Eric and Brenda in Emmerdale tonight
Eric and Brenda were very awkward with each other, but he thought flowers would make it up to her. She was not impressed given they didn’t have money for flowers.
He then set up Champagne and a huge food spread in the shop and invited Brenda over. Eric got down on knee again and promised he wasn’t being impulsive, he genuinely wanted her to marry him.
Liam walked in mid-proposal to get some milk and the situation became very uncomfortable. Once Liam had gone, Brenda tearfully told him her answer was no.
Brenda said she needed to find out who she was again. She then ended their relationship because too much has happened. Is there any way back for them?
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Angelica is firmly Team Tom (Credit: ITV)
Angelica fought Tom’s corner
Tom sent Jimmy a letter, who put it in the bin much to Angelica’s disgust. Jimmy and Nicola tried to talk some sense into her, but Angelica continued to fight Tom’s corner insisting Tom is still family.
Angelica seemed to think Tom wasn’t as bad as her because she killed someone and he never killed Belle. Can her parents make her see sense?

Emmerdale star Twinnie-Lee Moore has confirmed Jade’s future on the soap following tonight’s episode – in which she kidnapped young April Windsor. This came as she attempted to reclaim the money stolen by Mack in the aftermath of the his fight with Billy.
Believing that Ross had her cash, Jade appeared in the village this week to make ominous threats. After implying that she’d be going after his family, Jade struck – kidnapping April.
As Ross begged for April’s life, Jade’s thugs dangled the terrified teenager off that very same roof. Ross managed to save a traumatised April, but wrathful Jade and her thugs are still on the loose.
But how much longer is Jade sticking around?

Twinnie-Lee Moore reveals Jade’s future on Emmerdale
During an interview on Sunday Brunch this weekend, actor Twinnie-Lee Moore, who plays Jade, revealed how long her character will be sticking around.
“It’s been a really fun character to play. She’s an underground boxing promoter. She’s been fun to play – a good baddie” she told hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.
When asked whether she’d be in the soap long-term, Twinnie replied: “Well… ten episodes, I’ve done.”
With Twinnie currently dividing her time between the Emmerdale set and Nashville – where she currently lives and works as a musician – it seems that Jade’s exit from the soap is imminent.
Jade’s got her money – but what more carnage will she cause before Twinnie leaves again?

Emmerdale star Michael Parr has revealed how he was rushed to hospital following a serious illness which had him ‘hallucinating’ for four days. The actor, who plays badboy Ross Barton, was filming a role in India two years ago.
It was there that he was struck down after crushing a nerve while in the gym. Speaking to The Mirror, he revealed: “It was terrifying; it was by far the worst pain I’ve felt in my entire life.
“The injury froze me and I couldn’t move,†he says. “I was permanently in bed and bent over. It even impacted my breathing.”
He continued: “My immediate thought was that I was going to be like that for the rest of my life. The panic really set in that I’d done myself some permanent damage.”
However the worst was yet to come…

Emmerdale star Michael Parr reveals hospital horror amid hallucinations

“I dropped about 20lb in four days and my cheekbones were starting to protrude,†he said.
“I’d been in my room hallucinating for four days. I didn’t know what was going on. I was delirious. I’m a massive chess player. I was so out of it I kept thinking I was a chess piece.â€
He added: “Being taken to hospital in a foreign country is always scary, but especially when you can’t communicate with the doctors,â€

Michael’s Emmerdale comeback as Ross Barton makes his return
Thankfully, Michael made a full recovery. The actor is now back as Ross after initially leaving in 2018. Ross’s return came as Billy entered a dangerous bareknuckle boxing ring – finding a menacing Ross waiting for him.
Ross and Billy made an enemy of fight promoter Jade. She didn’t appreciate Billy ruining things by sucker-punching Ross. She arranged a rematch, but that fell apart too when the police got involved.
And, as Mack took the opportunity to take her cash for himself, Ross was left holding the (empty) bag. Determined to get her money back, Jade held Ross responsible.

Fans of Emmerdale have shared their distaste for Aaron and John as a couple… once again demanding that they split up before their relationship goes any further.
After sending Ross packing, John headed off too. It was then revealed that Mack was the one who took Jade’s money.
However, fans were more distracted by the presence of John, reminding them of a relationship that, for many, is one of the soap’s least-liked pairings.

Emmerdale fans slam John and Aaron as they demand ‘Robron’ returns
Writing on the social media site X, fans shared their disappointment that the soap was continuing to plough ahead with Aaron and John’s relationship.
Many, of course, are still holding out for the reunion of ‘Robron’ – Aaron and ex-husband Robert.
“Many of us want Robert back in Ryan Hawley’s face. We don’t care about John and Aaron as ‘couple’ nor about John as character. I don’t know what Emmerdale was waiting for? good buzz? there is only negativity and boredom. Break them up and give Aaron a better story,” said one fan.
“Can’t stand John and Aaron together they just don’t have chemistry imo,” claimed another.
“I think Aaron will feature in one if not two storylines the first will probably be the continuation of Ross’s boxing storyline and the second will have to do with Chas and her new/old romance and it’s aftermath. Because unless Robert returns he and John will be boring,” said a third.
“As far as we like Aaron,we know that he would never have been with John knowing that he is a Sugden, I still don’t know why they are together, because like everything happens off screen,” agreed another.

Fans of Emmerdale were left shocked by Bob Hope‘s new look in last night’s episode of the soap. This came as he showed off a new jacket while advising Brenda on her relationship with Eric.
As Brenda fretted that Eric only wanted to marry her due to side-effects of the medication, Bob provided a sympathetic ear, listening patiently as she explained her worries. After all, if the meds had caused him to throw all their money into a cryptocurrency scheme, who was to say it hadn’t also been behind his proposal?
Bob was quick to put Brenda at ease, but fans were more distracted by the coat he was wearing throughout the scene.
The rain jacket – adorned with an Earthy-coloured camouflage pattern – had fans taking to social media in their droves to blast Bob’s new look.

Emmerdale fans make jokes as Bob steps out in controversial jacket
Writing on X as the episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on Bob’s coat.
“Bob’s going to using his new T.A jacket to go on the pull before long,” joked one fan.
“Is Bob off to do a survival course? Well he lives in Emmerdale – so it could come in handy,” said another.
“Has Bob joined the Army all of a sudden?” asked a third.
“Is Bob off duck hunting?!” a fourth laughed.
“Bob living in a bush on the home farm estate?” another said.
Pollard seemed to have seen sense following his talking-to from Bob. And, as the episode ended, Eric made a concerted effort to make things right with Brenda.
