A new fan theory predicts Ruby Miligan in Emmerdale may have been abused by her father, Anthony. And viewers are now questioning if Steph is really Caleb Miligan‘s daughter at all.
Emmerdale has been getting some new additions recently as Ruby’s dad Anthony, and her daughter, Steph Miligan, have arrived in the village.
Ruby’s family life seems to be nothing but drama. Steph revealed she didn’t want a relationship with her parents, and instead only wanted her inheritance from Ruby’s dead mum.
But in last night’s episode of Emmerdale (November 19), Steph tricked her mum into meeting with Anthony, by pretending she wanted to chat.
It was immediately clear there is a lot of history between Ruby and Anthony, but could it be something more sinister?

Emmerdale:Â Ruby has ‘sinister’ past with Anthony, fans predict
Viewers found out Ruby’s parents wanted her to have a termination instead of going through with her pregnancy. But after her reaction to him being back in the village, many think there is something else going on.
Ruby had a very extreme reaction to seeing Anthony again, making it clear she will never forgive him. Then when Caleb gave her the box which Anthony had tried to earlier that day, she got angry at her husband.
Taking to social media after last night’s episode, fans speculated.
One wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Ruby despises her dad, but why? Is there something far more sinister? He’s creepy?”
Another penned: “Are they going to do a Ruby’s daughter is also her sister type of storyline and that’s really why she hates her dad so much?”

“No way is that the reaction of someone who was told to leave home because they got pregnant. That seems to be the reaction of someone who’s been abused. Is he Steph’s dad, not grandad?”
If the fan theory is true then it makes sense why Ruby reacted in that way towards her father. And if so, will she ever open up to Caleb?

Emmerdale tonight saw Ruby reject her dad in very dramatic fashion, despite Caleb’s pleas for her to hear Anthony out. So is there more to it all?
Meanwhile, Ross is definitely not turning over a new goody two shoes leaf, and Moira tried to prepare Cain for her possible death.
Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Tuesday November 19.
Things were glum for Ruby in Emmerdale tonight
Ruby had a chance with Steph, but then Anthony arrived (Credit: ITV)
Steph gave Ruby a chance
Ruby was feeling down after falling out with Steph, who was just showing Ross out of the B&B after spending the night together. Caleb Miligan went in all guns blazing telling her Ross wasn’t someone to get involved with – not the best way to get Steph to stay.
Ruby told Caleb to lay off as he went in hard offering Steph a partnership at the depot. Steph then agreed to go to the cafe with Ruby for a chat. Ruby went on the charm offensive very sincerely telling Steph she was sorry and asking to start again. Steph agreed all-too-easily.

Anthony arrived
And then it became apparent why because she’d set up a meeting between Ruby and her estranged dad, Anthony. He wants forgiveness and offered her a box of ‘treasures’ from her childhood. But Ruby was not interested in any sort of reconciliation and stormed off.
Caleb then saw Anthony and wanted answers himself. Although Caleb was harsh, he soon softened and almost warmed to Anthony, wondering if, in fact, he was being sincere. He even explained to Ruby Anthony seemed different. But she was still not buying any of it – and couldn’t believe Caleb had fallen for it. She was emotional and beside herself and we think he must have really hurt her – more than perhaps we know…
So where do we stand on Anthony? Clearly there are sins of the past to be addressed, but we don’t know yet whether we can trust him.
Moira’s possible death is hitting Cain hard (Credit: ITV)
Cain was not coping in Emmerdale tonight
Moira was planning for her operation, wanting to have a last lunch with the family before going under the knife. But Cain was avoiding the situation and wasn’t handling things at all well.
Moira continued to try and prepare Cain for the fact she could die. But he fell apart and stormed off. She went to ask Chas to look out for Cain, who was at the garage, still struggling. Can anyone help him?
Things are getting on top of Dawn, still (Credit: ITV)
Dawn did some more whinging in Emmerdale tonight
Will went to check in on Dawn, who is overwhelmed being back at work at the vets. She’s actually overwhelmed by everything – so much so she’s even forgiven Will!
Once again, Dawn was moaning about being broke, and once again we wonder why she is living in that massive house when she has the option of living in Home Farm with Kim or at the very least somewhere much smaller. Tom and Belle’s place is available – and Kim owns that so would surely give them a discount on rent.
Really, it’s hard to feel sorry for them when they are making life much harder for themselves!
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Brenda was thrilled with her ring, but not with Eric’s behaviour (Credit: ITV)
Eric snuck around
Pollard was sneaking around having been to an auction, much to Brenda’s concern. She’s worried about why he’s cutting her out of the wedding planning.
Brenda asked him outright whether he had bad news for her, but he promised he didn’t and that he just wanted to get back in the game, make more money and live their life together.

Jai and Ross plotted
Jai has accepted Caleb’s job, but he still thinks he holds all the cards. Which is strange, to be honest, as he has none.
Meanwhile, Ross wanted a job from Caleb and even put on his best clobber to try and persuade him. But Caleb gave him short shrift, which may have been a mistake… Because then Jai approached Ross to team up and steal Caleb’s valuable stock.
With a glint in his eye, Ross said he may well be interested in the plot and with that bad-boy Ross is well and truly back.
And finally…
Jacob was spotted in a scene after months of fans not being sure whether he is still in the show. He is, and he was worried about his grandad. Phew.

This follows years of estrangement between Ruby and her family. Conversations between her and Caleb revealed that they hadn’t seen their daughter in years – and that she wasn’t exactly friendly with her mum or dad. And, as for Anthony, he didn’t exactly approve of Caleb either – attempting to buy Caleb out of his relationship with Ruby, once upon a time. If you believe Caleb, that is.

Ruby reeled as Anthony and Steph arrived in town
Ruby was keen to make things up with estranged Steph upon her arrival in the village (although it hasn’t exactly gone well so far). However, she was less happy to see Anthony – and he has struggled to make things right with her since arriving in town.
The reason for Anthony’s sudden reappearance in his daughter’s life has now been revealed – he has cancer.
But how will the news of Anthony’s illness complicate matters between him and his family? And will his diagnosis cause Ruby to reconsider her feelings towards her father?
