    1. Liam comes face to face with Ella

Liam is horrified when he discovers his ex-girlfriend Ella back in the village. The disgraced receptionist previously snuck back to collect her possessions, but ended up crashing her car on the way out.

Ella walked away from the smash with only cuts and bruises, but her vehicle wasn’t so lucky.

Trying to figure out where she goes from here, Ella heads to the café for a coffee. And that’s when Liam walks in…

Jeff Hordley admits Cain will ‘do what he needs to’ when the truth about Tom’s abuse comes out

Belle is missing in Emmerdale, but Cain and Charity are hot on their tails and Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain, has revealed Cain will stop at nothing to protect his sister.

And it seems she really does need his help when he and Charity arrive at the holiday cottage where Belle and Tom have gone on holiday to find the place trashed, blood on the walls and absolutely no sign of Belle or Tom. Where are they? And how will Cain deal with this situation?

So what has happened to Belle in Emmerdale?

Spoilers for next week’s Emmerdale have revealed that Charity and Cain are very worried for Belle’s safety. And we all know they are definitely right to be!

Charity makes a discovery that Belle has missed some of her mental health appointments. With the other Dingle women thinking Charity is overreacting after the other week’s drama, she decides Cain is her best bet at being believed. Confiding in him Tom reminds her of Bails, that’s enough to make Cain sit up and take notice.

Together they break into Belle and Tom’s house. They find his surveillance equipment and her phone hidden in a drawer. Really worried now, Tom’s budget book throws up a lead to a remote Welsh cottage. So off Charity and Cain head.

It isn’t long before they’re in Wales, at the cottage. But what greets them is not a pretty sight: a trashed cottage with blood on the walls. And no sign of Belle or Tom.

Jeff Hordley hints ‘old Cain’ could be on his way back to Emmerdale – and it’s about time!

Speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other media recently, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley has hinted that Cain’s violent side may make an appearance as he seeks to protect Belle from Tom.

The star teased: “Well, [Belle’s] his little sister. I think if somebody hurt his little sister in particular, there’s no saying what Cain would do.”

He then added: “He’ll do what he needs to do to be able to make things right,” when it comes to protecting Belle from Tom.

It’s fair to say Tom has really underestimated the Dingles if he thinks he can take them on and win. But does he realise quite what he’s let himself in for? Once Belle is found and the truth is out, we would not like to be in Tom’s shoes at all.

Emmerdale spoilers: Charity reveals all to Cain

Charity has been worried about Belle for a few weeks. She tried to talk to her about her marriage to Tom a while ago, but Belle shut down all Charity’s attempts to get her to open up.

Luckily for Belle, Charity hasn’t given up. She’s been keeping an eye on the younger Dingle and making sure things are okay from a distance.

So when Charity hears about Tom’s job interview in Wales, she’s not happy. And when she realises that he and Belle have gone away from the village, she frets about what’s really going on.

She can’t shake her worries, so she calls Cain and tells him that Tom reminds her of Bails – the dodgy policeman who abused her as a teenager.

Charity suffered badly at the hands of Bails, and eventually turned the tables years later as an adult when she testified against him in court and saw him banged up for what he did to her.

But she’s still haunted by his abuse which is why when she tells Cain what she sees in Tom, Cain takes her worries seriously.

In fact, the next day, when he can’t get hold of Belle either, he’s soon concerned about his younger sister, too.

    What’s going on?

Determined to work out what’s up with Belle, Charity does some digging. She calls Belle’s mental health team and she discovers that Belle’s been missing her mental health appointments. That’s definitely not a good sign!

So with both Dingles increasingly uneasy, they decide it’s time to act.

Taking matters into their own hands, they break into Tom and Belle’s house. They rummage through their belongings, determined to find out where they’ve gone.

But they’re alarmed by Tom’s surveillance equipment – creepy! And when Charity finds Belle’s phone shoved in a drawer, she’s even more concerned.

    Trashed!

Luckily, they find an address for a cottage in Wales where Belle and Tom are staying. They decide the only thing they can do is head off there themselves.

But they’re frantic when they arrive at the cottage to find it trashed with blood on the walls!

Belle’s nowhere to be found, though. Where is she? Where is Tom? And have Charity and Cain arrived too late?!

    Dream holiday

Belle and Tom have gone to Wales for a break. What Belle‘s not aware of though, is that Tom’s actually planning on moving them away permanently.

She’s been walking on eggshells since she told her husband she had aborted their baby. She knows he’s unstable, aggressive, even violent, but she’s been broken by his manipulative behaviour and now it’s clear she blames herself for his abuse.

Meanwhile Tom’s determined to get his new wife away from her friends and family in Emmerdale – a common tactic used by abusers.

    Emmerdale spoilers: soap airs flashbacks

The story of Belle’s torment in Wales is told in flashback as we first see Charity concerned about Belle.

Charity is uncomfortable about Tom because he reminds her of her own abuser, Bails. So when she finds out about Tom’s job interview in Wales she is really concerned.

As she does some digging and discovers Belle’s been missing her mental health appointments she’s even more worried – so she enlists the help of Belle’s big brother, Cain.

Charity and Cain break into the Kings’ house to see what they can find out. They spot all of Tom’s creepy surveillance equipment and realise, with growing horror, that Charity is totally right about what Mr King is really like.

    Tracking them down!

Luckily, after a bit of rummaging, where they come across Belle’s phone stuffed in a drawer, they find out where they are. Understanding that time is of the essence, the frantic pair head off to Wales to track them down.

But when they arrive, it looks like they’re too late. The cottage Belle and Tom are staying in has been trashed, with blood on the walls, and they’re nowhere to be seen.

The action then flashes back to when the couple arrived at the cottage.

As the sun rises the pair arrive and seem happy and loved-up as they explore their holiday home.

Belle is upset to have left her phone behind because she couldn’t find it before they headed out.

Of course, it’s not long before Tom starts his manipulations. Belle though is still hopeful their holiday will get off to a good start.

But when she overhears Tom arranging to rent the cottage for longer, she’s confused.

And as the flashbacks continue we see the blissful holiday getaway turn into a terrifying ordeal for a frightened, lonely Belle.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Laurel had a heart attack, Tom isolated Belle further

In Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday July 3) Laurel collapsed with a suspected heart attack, sending Jai into a spin. Meanwhile, Tom worked to get Belle further away from her family than ever before.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight.

Laurel lies collapsed on the floor of the church in Emmerdale tonight

Laurel collapsed after arguing with Jai

Jai and Laurel were still at loggerheads, but she was also struggling with twinges. Claiming it to be indigestion, Laurel dismissed it and agreed to meet Gabby in the Woolpack for lunch.

She then insisted Jai had to tell Suni the truth today – or she would. Jai went to see Suni and a half-naked Nicky answered the door. Once we got out of our daze over Lewis Cope’s gym-honed bod, we realised Jai was stuttering and stumbling over not actually wanting to see Suni after all. He was then completely thrown by Nicky’s comment that he was very important to Suni.

Jai found Laurel in the church and told her he couldn’t tell Suni. He begged her not to make him do it. But Laurel wasn’t having it and let rip.

When Jai took a swipe at Ashley, Laurel had had enough and told him he was a “sad, horrible, weak little man,” and ordered him to leave.

But after he went she struggled to breathe and collapsed to the floor. Fortunately Gabby located her in the church and immediately called an ambulance.

Over at The Hide, Jai was trying to talk to Suni, but Gabby’s persistent calls distracted him. When he eventually answered and found out what had happened, he rushed off – without having told Suni anything.

Laurel was being wheeled into an ambulance when Jai arrived and Manpreet explained they thought she’d had a heart attack. Suni reassured Jai Laurel was going to be okay, but he wasn’t so sure…

Tom isolated Belle in Emmerdale tonight

Also in Wednesday’s episode Tom tried to play the nice guy encouraging Belle to make amends with Charity. Charity later saw Belle and Piper out for a walk and told her: “You’ll always be our family.” Belle stormed off again, but Charity insisted she wasn’t going anywhere and would always be there if she wanted to talk.

Meanwhile, Tom was having a Zoom job interview where he was told the job was “extremely isolated”. He insisted his wife was really keen to move somewhere so out of the way as she wanted the quiet life.

He then told Belle they should go away on holiday and suggested Wales. He showed her a cottage miles away from anywhere and she agreed it would be “perfect”.

Perfect for him to gain total control, you mean Belle? Sure. Perfect.

At the garage Sarah was fixing Josh’s car and he got a little bit friendly. Turns out she quite likes the bad boy as she fluttered her eyelashes, but Moira broke the moment when she sent Josh on his way.

However, Josh later returned and wanted to treat her to lunch. Sarah agreed, but as they were leaving Moira and Cain arrived. Cain told him to push off.

Sarah told him he was embarrassing, she then laid into Cain and Moira and defended Josh. She insisted Matty “had the knife and stabbed Samson” so it wasn’t Josh’s fault. Cain did not look happy.

Charles and Caleb bonded in Emmerdale tonight

Upset Charles got a phone call telling him the police were dropping the investigation into Ethan’s hit and run. He told Manpreet he was going to talk to a lawyer before storming out in a state.

Caleb was listening in on what is clearly good news for him and Ruby. So he did the logical thing and took Ruby to the Woolpack to celebrate being in the clear. She felt very uncomfortable with the idea as she struggled with her guilt.

Charles was also drinking himself silly in the Woolpack. Ruby couldn’t handle it and left, so Caleb asked Charles to join him. He then took Charles home. Something which Ruby was NOT happy about. Will Caleb regret his latest move?

  • New Emmerdale producer teases a Dingle death, a Dingle wedding and special Belle episode

New Emmerdale producer teases a Dingle death, a Dingle wedding and special Belle episode

A new dawn has arrived in Emmerdale as producer Sophie Roper has stepped in to take over. And she’s got a lot of exciting storylines up her sleeve to shake the show up.

Working alongside Laura Shaw, who has been there for many years, Sophie has revealed to Entertainment Daily and other media that they have “got some brilliant storylines happening at the minute”. And the drama is set to continue over summer and into the new year.

Fancy some teasers about what we can look forward to? Of course you do! Over to Sophie.

    The Dingles take centre stage

If you want drama in Emmerdale then you need look no further than the Dingle clan. There’s A LOT going on with them right now, including Samson being stabbed by Matty and of course the horror of Belle’s abuse at the hands of Tom.

But why stop there? Why not throw even more at them? That’s exactly what Sophie and co are planning.

“The Dingles have been at the heart of the show for 30 years and will continue to be so,” said Sophie. “But as many of you will know we lost Steve Halliwell (who played Zak Dingle) recently.”

Steve Halliwell, who died in December 2023, had played Zak Dingle since the 1990s. And now Emmerdale are going to mark his death in the best possible way.

“We’re going to be marking Zak’s passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral. It will be very difficult for a lot of people who work on the show and the viewers who have loved Zak for many years, but it’ll be a hugely fitting tribute to such an iconic character.”

Tom’s abuse leaves Belle in terrible danger

As well as the devastation of her dad’s death, Belle will also face more terror at the hands of her abusive husband Tom.

Sophie explained: “We have a special episode coming up, that sees Tom and Belle head off to Wales on a trip away together.

“But set to the backdrop of this beautiful cottage, is a hard-hitting, difficult story. Tom is isolating Belle from her family, her surroundings, everything she knows and loves, which is very much a typical trait of abusers.”

Emmerdale producer reveals a Dingle wedding

It is not all doom and gloom – for once – in the Dales as a Dingle wedding is coming up. And it’s not just any Dingle wedding, it’s Mandy Dingle’s wedding, so we know it’s going to be big, bright and lots of fun.

And Sophie has teased exactly that: “We’ve had Mandy’s dress made in-house by one of our dressmakers – it’s going to be very Mandy, very big, very fun!”

    John Sugden comes to town

As well as new Emmerdale producer Sophie revealing there will be some returning characters she also announced a new face. And that face belongs to former Coronation Street star Oliver Farnworth. The Andy Carver actor will be arriving as John Sugden. No, we’ve never heard of him before either, but it’s about time the iconic Sugden family was beefed up.

“The Sugdens, just like the Dingles are an iconic family group and we’re keen to cement them back in the show,” Sophie explained. “John will bring lots of drama to the Dales, which I’m going to keep tight-lipped about for now.”

More from Caleb and Ruby promises new Emmerdale producer

Caleb and Ruby might not have been around for a long time, but they’ve definitely made their mark. And we’re set to find out even more about their past when someone else arrives.

Sophie explained: “We’re going to see a blast from their past come back and give us more info about this complicated relationship between husband and wife, and the complicated family dynamics we have there.”

    Ella looks sad in Emmerdale
Ella will be back (Credit: ITV)

    Ella is back

We may have thought Ella had gone for good after her child-killer secret was revealed. Liam cast her out, Manpreet didn’t want to know and Ella realised there was no place for her in the village any more.

But Sophie assures that isn’t the last we’ve seen of her: “Ella will continue in the show but her past will continue to haunt her.

“Will she ever get her happy ever after? And can she ever escape the past that’s led her to this point?”

    Don’t forget the stunts!

Of course Emmerdale is known for its super-stunts and that won’t change under Sophie’s leadership.

“We have some stunts filming this week,” Sophie teased. Although she did not reveal exactly what the stunts would involve she added: “There will be fire engines. It’s an explosive week of Emmerdale!”

Trying a different tack – one of kindness rather than aggression, which is new to Charity – she gently asks Belle to tell her the truth. It’s clear Belle is wavering as she tears up. However then her controller rears his ugly head.

    Belle lashes out

Suddenly spotting Tom approaching Belle is thrown into a panic. It all-but confirms Charity’s suspicions Belle is afraid of her husband.

But Belle has shut down. She aggressively shoves Charity out of the way and rushes off home in a complete panic. Charity goes to follow her, but Tom won’t have it.

Charity is left fuming – and more suspicious than ever – as Tom stops her following Belle. He insists that his wife is struggling with her mental health and demands that Charity leave her alone.

    Has Charity missed her chance?

Back at the Woolpack, the other Dingle women think that Charity might be overreacting. Charity is fuming and has to leave the room due to her frustration.

Worried she’s missed her chance to make them understand Belle is in serious trouble, can she find a way to make the family see it too?

Meanwhile, Tom is plotting once again. He wants Belle all to himself so he can exert complete control. The Dingles living in the same village makes that virtually impossible, so he sets about scheming to move him and Belle to a very, very isolated part of Wales.

Charity needs to step on it to save Belle in time. But can she do it?

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Charity pushed Belle too hard, Moira and Cain reunited

Charity was desperate to help Belle in Emmerdale tonight, but Tom was there just getting in the way again.

Meanwhile, Cain and Moira finally put their differences aside – here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight (Monday July 1).

The Dingle women try to save Belle

The opening scene saw the strong Dingle women of Emmerdale – Chas, Charity and Lydia – striding down the street. And they meant business (except Mandy, who was late).

Meanwhile wifey Belle was fussing over Tom at home, making him a bacon butty and checking she hadn’t made his tea too milky.

Belle protested when the ladies arrived to whisk her away for a girly day. She insisted she couldn’t leave Tom, but Charity had thought of that and brought out Jimmy and Paddy to ‘babysit’.

Still, Belle protested, but Charity told Tom to give his permission. Flashing his winning smile Tom said: “Ooh she don’t need permission from me.” Of course, we all know she does – and so does Belle who was even more reluctant. But they dragged her out as Tom’s face darkened.

Cain and Moira at loggerheads – still – in Emmerdale tonight

Over at Butlers, things between Moira and Cain were still tense. And when Cain admitted he went to see Matty and broke the news Matty now had a cellmate it escalated further. Rather than being grateful Cain had imparted wisdom on her son, she instead was furious Cain hadn’t told her this before now.

Back at the Woolpack, Belle was having her nails done, believing they were all there to cheer Lydia up. Charity eventually admitted she’d revealed Belle’s miscarriage news and Belle tried to leave.

Charity did not want to try the softly softly approach, she used a very loud and shouty voice as she tried to reason with Belle that she wasn’t herself.

Things were equally as awkward at Tom’s as he snapped at Jimmy for asking about the miscarriage. But when Paddy and Jimmy joked the girls would be comparing notes about their blokes, Tom panicked.

At the Woolie, Belle was opening up about her ‘miscarriage’ but once again Charity was mouthing off. Chas decided to take Charity aside and warn her to calm down and go gently.

Elsewhere, as Cain and Moira were mid-yet-another argument, tearful Isaac ran in: “It’s Minty, he’s dead,” he sobbed. What is it with Emmerdale at the moment – first Tom’s abuse of Piper the dog and now a dead lamb?

Charity tries to get through to Belle

With Charity getting more and more wound up, Tom interrupted the proceedings by calling Belle. She took the call outside and Charity followed before snatching the phone and hanging up on Tom.

Charity edged closer to the truth as she insisted: “He’s keeping tabs on you…” Belle firmly said he wasn’t, but Charity knew and begged her to open up.

Meanwhile, Tom decided they needed to go over, but Paddy and Jimmy insisted he leave it. They even took his phone to stop him doing anything.

Tom was getting more and more frustrated – and we all know what happens when he gets frustrated…

Charity was still shouting as she laid into Belle telling her Tom was making her dependent on him. Charity even said Tom was to blame for Belle’s recent relapse – but Belle told her to back off.

Back to the saddest story of the night – Minty’s death. Poor Isaac was so sad about his dead lamb. Even Moira was in tears.

And then cut to more shouting from Charity: “Belle we are worried sick about you. If you are with the wrong man and he’s making you miserable you need to tell us.”

Here’s her chance, but did she take it? Nope. Instead she defended Tom and told Charity she had lost the plot. Sigh.

Tom gets his way in Emmerdale tonight

Jimmy was drunk as a skunk so Tom used the opportunity to suggest heading over to the Woolie for a drink. And at that moment, Charity was finally getting through to Belle.

However as she fell into Charity’s hug, Belle spotted Tom, shoved Charity away aggressively and ran off. Charity tried to follow, but Tom stopped her.

“You need to stay away,” he shouted. He then explained Belle is struggling with her mental health and accused Belle of lashing out at him. “If I need your help, I will ask,” he said. “But other than that, stay away.”

Charity was forced to watch him go, but it was very clear she didn’t believe a word he said.

Moira and Cain reunite at last!

At the farm, the fallout from Minty’s death produced one positive outcome: the reunion of Cain and Moira, who promised to support each other rather than argue. Hallelujah. It’s just a shame poor Minty had to die for them to realise they’re better together than against each other.

Back at the Woolpack, Charity was still shouting the odds. But Chas, Mandy and Lydia were starting to doubt her. They accused her of being obsessed.

Meanwhile, Belle was stressed and decided on a detoxifying bath. Tom then made a phone call confirming he was very interested in a job interview that would mean relocating. “Wales sounds perfect,” he said to the person on the other end, before smiling smugly.

Looks like Belle’s missed opportunity might come back to haunt her…

  • Where do the Dingles live? The history of Wishing Well Cottage

Where do the Dingles live? The history of Wishing Well Cottage

Wishing Well Cottage in Emmerdale is home to the iconic Dingle family, and a house which holds a lot of history.

It’s been the Dingles’ dwelling since at least 1967, and over the years has provided a roof over the head for countless members of the clan.

Located on Robblesfield Way, Wishing Well is far from a perfect looking home. It’s messy and packed to the brim with old clutter but is full of love.

Sam Dingle is the current head of the home, having lived there since he his arrival in the Dales in 1995.

Sam lives at Wishing Well with his wife Lydia Dingle, son Samson Dingle, his cousin Mandy Dingle and her son Vinny Dingle.

And of course, who could forget the Dingle family dog, Monty.

The extensive list of former residents include Marlon Dingle, Charity Dingle, Paddy Kirk and Cain Dingle.

The history of Wishing Well Cottage in Emmerdale

Wishing Well Cottage started life as a barn and was part of the neighbouring Holdgate Farm. The property was originally rented out to the Dingles by Mr Holdgate.

After Mr Holdgate’s death in 1995, Home Farm owner Frank Tate purchased Holdgate Farm and became the new owner of the barn. He attempted to evict the Dingles, but was met with resistance from many of the villagers.

Frank eventually backed down and allowed the Dingles to stay, at which point the house became its own property and was named Wishing Well Cottage by Dingle matriarch Nellie.

The comings and goings of Wishing Well Cottage in Emmerdale

The Dingle family home was first seen on screen in 1995. At that time, husband and wife Zak and Nellie Dingle lived there with their children, Butch, Sam and Tina.

Nellie departed for Ireland that same year, and never returned.

In 1996, cousins Marlon and Mandy Dingle moved into the house, closely followed by Zak’s new love interest Lisa Clegg, who went on to become his wife.

Local vet Paddy Kirk also lived at Wishing Well while he was dating Mandy.

    A child is born

Christmas Day 1998 at Wishing Well was one to remember. Lisa, who didn’t even know she was expecting a baby, popped out to care for one of their poorly pigs and went into labour in the middle of the sty.

Paddy Kirk came to her rescue and helped Lisa safely deliver a little girl into the world, who she and proud dad Zak named Belle.

    More Dingles arrive

Zak’s brother Shadrach was the next Dingle to rock up on the doorstep at Wishing Well Cottage.

And then came cousins Charity and Cain Dingle, who both lived at the property on and off for six years.

After Charity and Cain’s teenage daughter Debbie moved out in 2006, the Dingles turned her old bedroom into a self-contained flat.

The separate living space was for Sam Dingle, and his wife Alice, to raise their newborn son Samson in.

    Save our home

The Dingles came close to losing their beloved home in January 2018 when another one of the Tate family plotted against them.

This time it was Joe Tate, who made plans to demolish Wishing Well Cottage in order to make way for an access road to a new golf course.

Joe threw a party at Home Farm to keep locals distracted while the property was being destroyed. But tragedy almost struck when young

Noah and Samson Dingle got trapped inside the house as the bulldozers began to tear the place down. Thankfully, Graham Foster came to the kids rescue and attacked the contractors to stop the demolition going ahead.

He and Eric Pollard then saved the day by rescuing Noah and Samson, and the Dingles’ abode was once again safe.

Lisa’s sad goodbye at Wishing Well Cottage

There wasn’t a dry eye in Wishing Well when Lisa passed away peacefully in May 2019.

She had been diagnosed with a condition called amyloidosis and told she would probably only have months left to live.

With time so precious, Lisa and Zak tied the knot.

But their happiness wasn’t to last when Zak discovered Lisa had slipped away quietly in her favourite comfy armchair.
