What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Belle confronted Tom – and he called the police

In Emmerdale tonight (Tuesday, October 22), Belle Dingle was left horrified after a mystery delivery left her fearing that Tom was up to his old tricks again. And, as she confronted him in the village, he retaliated by calling the police.

Belle got into a tizzy in Emmerdale tonight

Still fuming at Sam for telling Zak about Tom’s abuse, Belle was in a foul mood. This was only exacerbated by the delivery of a bunch of flowers from an unnamed source. Belle immediately assumed that it was Tom.

Roses, Belle claimed were Tom’s gift of choice, even though she’d always told him that she didn’t like them. The Dingles looked on as she stormed out of the house, leaving Sam and Lydia concerned.

She confronted Tom outside Victoria cottage, accusing him of sending the flowers. In typical Tom fashion, he denied everything and called her out for “losing the plot.”

“Do you really want to end up back in the secure unit?” he sneered. He then pointed out how she’d just broken her bail conditions. Flinging the flowers at Tom, Belle suffered a flashback to the night she axed him.

Back at home, she snapped again at Lydia and Sam (currently wearing Zak’s stinky old cardigan). When Sam and Lydia pointed out that she was supposed to be keeping her distance from Tom, she exploded again and stormed out.

Wrapped up in her grief, Belle headed to Zak’s grave to seek guidance from her dad. Little did she know, but Tom was watching from afar, making a sly phone call to the police.

    Caleb burned his bridges

Eager to take ownership of the haulage firm, Caleb paid Jimmy a visit, bright and early. Dragging his feet, Jimmy told Caleb that he’d have to read over the small-print first. With Caleb in a sulk over Ruby learning how he’d scammed her mother, he wasn’t even able to savour his latest victory.

In the Woolpack, he was chastised by Chas. Questioning her over Ruby’s whereabouts, he revealed that she hadn’t been home last night – suspiciously noticing that Chas was sitting there with two mugs of tea. As Ruby emerged, he tried to explain himself – as if one can justify blackmailing a dying woman.

This, he tried to do by claiming that he’d been “looking out for us.” He then revealed that her father had tried to pay him off when they were younger. “I love you, you can’t put a price on that,” he told Ruby when she asked whether he’d been tempted to take the cash.

For a while, it looked as though everything was coming up Caleb. Paying a visit to Jimmy, he attempted to sweeten the deal with a nice bottle of whiskey. However, Jimmy threw it back in his face (not literally) with a shredded contract (literally).

Jimmy revealed that he knew Caleb had set up a secret second deal which would save the haulage company, making it profitable again. Reneging on the deal, Jimmy delighted in telling him that the sale was off.

Back at home, Caleb accused Ruby of ratting him out to Jimmy. She didn’t take it well, spurning his subsequent apology and chucking him out of the house (again).

    Will felt guilty

Still loitering about Home Farm like a bad smell, Will wrestled with his conscience over betraying Jimmy. Kim remained icy with her ex, bragging about her day out to see Dawn and Billy as Will munched on a slice of toast in his dressing gown. “I’d invite you along but they don’t want to see you any more than I do,” she purred on her way out of the door, putting Will right off his toast. Ouch.

She continued to rub it in as he read over Caleb’s contract with Jimmy later. “All the better for not having you in the car with us,” she sniped as he asked how her conker-gathering trip with Dawn and Billy had been. Ouch again.

In the pub, Caleb confronted the man who’d sold him out to Jimmy – Will. In trying to ease his conscience, Will had told Jimmy about Caleb’s plans. Having saved Jimmy from losing the haulage firm, Will tried to reach out to his friend, only to be rejected by him too. “Friends? You and me? That ship has sailed,” Jimmy told him, before flouncing off. Ouch yet again.

    Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight

“Not like you to leave sausages on your plate,” said a tactless Rodney as Mandy and Paddy shared breakfast in the cafe. Mandy was feeling out of sorts after her run-in with Tina yesterday – and took it out on Rodney. But, between his food-shaming and his leering over Tina, kind of deserved it.

Mandy was left feeling uncomfortable as Vinny questioned what Tina is like. Making her excuses, she stormed off to the salon. Her sharp exit had Vinny wondering whether his mum (Mandy, that is) had taken a dislike to Gabby.

“You have never knowingly turned down a Pina Colada,” a suspicious Paddy said as he confronted Mandy over her rejecting Gabby’s party. He tried to reassure her that no-one could ever take her place as Vinny’s mum – but Mandy has her doubts.

She made up with Vinny, agreeing to come for cocktails with him and Gabby tomorrow. But how long can Mandy keep her secret?

  • Romance hopes for Vinny and Belle dashed as his real mum is revealed – and fans are furious

Romance hopes for Vinny and Belle dashed as his real mum is revealed – and fans are furious

It’s official – Vinny is a Dingle by blood, as was revealed on Emmerdale last night (Monday, October 21). In the wake of Zak’s death and subsequent funeral, the Dingle family has been rocked by the sudden return of his daughter, Tina.

Tina’s cousin Mandy was particularly shocked to see Tina back – not least because she appears to be the birth mother of her son, Vinny. Mandy raised Vinny as her own after his dad, Paul, walked out on them both while Vinny was a baby.

While Vinny wasn’t a Dingle by blood, he was considered an honorary one by the whole family. But, with Tina’s bombshell news, it appears that Vinny might be a born-and-bred Dingle after all!

Mandy isn’t the only one struggling with the news either. Viewers have found themselves upset as Vinny being a Dingle puts paid to fans’ long-held hope that he and Belle might one day be a thing.

Emmerdale fans bereft as Belle is revealed to be Vinny Dingle’s aunt

Reacting on the social media site X, fans shared their disappointment at the pair being close relatives.

“Tina being Vinny’s mum has messed up my Belle x Vinny hopes. Belle is now his auntie,” said one disappointed fan.

“So Vinny is Belle’s nephew then? Good job they never got together like it was looking at one time,” another remarked.

“Had hoped Vinny and Belle would become a couple one day but that’s definitely not happening now!” said a third.

“If Tina ends up somehow being Vinny’s mum, and it destroys any hopes of there being a Vinny & Belle endgame, I’ll never forgive you,” wrote another.

Belle and Vinny – a history

Fans have long enjoyed the chemistry between Vinny and Belle. The pair became close friends since he arrived in the village, with the pair enjoying dog walking trips together.

They also supported each other in their darker times – Vinny in grieving wife Liv, and Belle during her abusive marriage to Tom King.

Reconciling after the extent of Tom’s nastiness was revealed, Vinny remains as loyal to Belle as ever.

How will he react when he learns that she might be his aunt?

  • Belle Dingle in Emmerdale: Killer, mental health crisis and domestic violence victim

Belle Dingle in Emmerdale: Killer, mental health crisis and domestic violence victim

Tinkerbelle Lisa ‘Belle’ Dingle is a member of the iconic Dingle family in Emmerdale.

Poor Belle was a promising businesswoman and wedding planner at Take A Vow until her abusive marriage to Tom King derailed her plan.

Now she’s lost her beloved dad, Zak, is struggling to cope with the fallout of her marriage, and is generally finding it hard to get through every day.

    So what’s Belle all about?

Emmerdale's Belle Dingle promo shot, smiling with her hand on her hip.
She’s been through the ringer since her surprise birth! (Credit: ITV)

Who is Belle Dingle in Emmerdale?

Belle was the youngest daughter of Zak Dingle and the only child of his late wife, Lisa Dingle. She has six half-siblings – Nathan, the late Ben and Butch, Sam, Cain and Tina Dingle, who’s just shown up in the village for the first time in almost 30 years.

Belle was born and raised in Wishing Well Cottage and as the youngest of her brothers and sister was doted on by the rest of the Dingle family. She made her first appearance on Christmas Day 1998 and viewers have watched the character grow up on screen.

Belle is a smart and educated cookie, but very much a Dingle at heart.

The part was originally played by twins Emily and James Mather. James stopped appearing in 2000 and Emily in 2005 when Eden Taylor-Draper took over the role.

Belle’s journey has been nothing short of dramatic. Her storylines have included a surviving a near-fatal fall down a mineshaft, accidentally killing her best friend, an affair with a married man, faking a pregnancy and a battle with schizophrenia.

In February 2024, Belle married her ex-boyfriend and village vet, Thomas King. The pair originally dated as teenagers and reconnected when Tom returned to the village after several years living abroad.

Sadly, married life has not got off to a happy start for Belle, who has fallen victim to her husband’s coercive control.

    Belle’s dramatic arrival

Belle’s arrival was nothing short of memorable. She was born in the pigsty of Wishing Well Cottage on December 25, 1998 – and her mum, Lisa Dingle had no idea she was pregnant.

Local vet Paddy Kirk delivered Belle into the world – and Zak fainted in shock to find out he was a dad again for the seventh time.

Keeping in the Dingle tradition for unusual monikers, Lisa and Zak named their little Christmas miracle Tinkerbelle, Belle for short.

Zak decided to become a stay at home dad, but the realities of looking after a baby quickly sunk in. Belle was always incredibly close to her mum, Lisa, who sadly passed away in May 2019 – just days after revealing she had been diagnosed with amyloidosis.

Dad Zak died earlier this month, leaving the Dingles devastated.

    Belle’s brush with death

Belle was a strong-willed and adventurous child – something which often landed her in danger.

Tragedy almost struck in 2005 when Belle fell down a mine shaft after chasing after friend Daz Eden’s pet ferret Spike. Daz went to Belle’s aid and ended up falling into the shaft too.

The pair nearly drowned in the freezing water, but were rescued by the Dingles and fire brigade.

Belle Dingle turns killer in Emmerdale

Belle’s teenage years took a very dark turn when she accidentally killed her best friend, Gemma Andrews.

Back in 2014, the pals became love rivals when they both caught feelings for local lad Sean Spencer. Belle had been dating Sean’s mate, Tom King (who she’s now married to), but then she and Sean began growing closer.

They made plans to sleep together, which were scuppered when Belle discovered Gemma was pregnant with Sean’s baby. Belle and Gemma promptly fell out and engaged in a nasty classroom spat, which resulted in Belle being suspended.

The girls’ final verbal slanging match, which took place in the dark of night, turned physical. Gemma slapped Belle – who responded by pushing her friend to the ground, which caused her to hit her head on a rock.

The morning after the freak accident, Gemma was discovered unconscious and rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Unable to live with the guilt, Belle turned herself into the police on the day of Gemma’s funeral and was sentenced to three years in a youth facility on the grounds of manslaughter.

After appealing her sentence, Belle was released after a year, but the trauma of Gemma soon led her to spiral into despair.

    Belle’s mental health crisis

Belle was left deeply traumatised by Gemma’s death and her subsequent imprisonment. She struggled to adapt back to life after her release from the young offenders’ centre.

She rebelled by dying her hair black and befriending local weirdo Lachlan White.

Belle also started to hear Gemma’s voice in her head, instructing her to do dark things – such as trash the local shop, attack her friends and try to overdose on painkillers.

Zak and Lisa soon realised their daughter was having a mental health crisis and referred her to a psychiatrist.

Belle made an attempt on her life, but was saved by her half-brother, Cain. She was then sectioned in a psychiatric hospital to recover.

    Affair with Dr Bailey

The first big love in Belle’s life, was Jermaine Bailey – the married GP who she had a passionate affair with at just 17.

Her family strongly disapproved of the relationship and put pressure on the doctor to end it.

Belle eventually tired of all the sneaking about and told Jermaine’s wife Angie she’d been sleeping with her husband. Jermaine was fired from his job at the surgery. He made plans to leave, but Belle made him stay by claiming she was carrying his kid.

Belle, who was in the grips of schizophrenia, carried on the fake pregnancy until Angie realised what was happening and outed her to her family.

Shortly afterwards, Belle experienced a complete breakdown and spent time living rough on the streets.

She was eventually found, diagnosed with schizophrenia and sent to a specialist unit in Surrey to recover.

Belle Dingle and her bad luck with men in Emmerdale

Belle hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to members of the opposite sex.

After Jermaine, she embarked on a dangerous romance with unhinged Lachlan White – who unbeknownst to her was a secret killer. When the truth did out, Lachlan kidnapped Belle and held her hostage.

She almost became his last victim, but managed to escape his clutches.

Belle also had a short-lived affair with Kim Tate’s son Jamie – which turned sour when he tried to frame her for a hit and run he carried out.

    Belle’s relapse

In 2020 Belle suffered a terrifying relapse in her mental health after she stopped taking her medication then began to hear the voice of her late mother, Lisa.

Whilst experiencing a hallucination, Belle ended up stabbing pregnant Tracy Robinson in the hand. Luckily Tracy’s injuries were not life-threatening and she recovered.

Belle was hospitalised for a second time.

Belle Dingle and her abusive marriage to Tom King

Belle’s whirlwind romance with childhood sweetheart Tom King seemed like a fairytale but has ended up a nightmare.

The couple went out with each other at school before Tom moved away with his mum Colleen in 2013. He returned a decade later and rekindled the flame with Belle.

The couple became engaged, but in the weeks leading up to the wedding Tom began displaying signs of coercive control towards Belle.

After the wedding, Tom’s mental and physical abuse towards his wife increased as he isolated Belle from her family.

When Belle discovered she was pregnant, she had a secret abortion, terrified of bringing a baby into her abusive marriage. She told Tom she’d had a miscarriage, but he soon found out the truth and predictably went ballistic – using the truth against Belle.

After spending time with Tom in an isolated cottage in Wales, and suffering even more abuse, Belle finally found the courage to leave him.

But since then, Tom’s been increasingly manipulative. He’s dating Amelia Spencer and when Belle tried to ‘rescue’ her from her ex, and went to the police, things took an even darker turn.

Determined to get Belle to drop the charges, Tom pursued his wife with an axe.

Terrified, Belle fled for her life only to be cornered by a violent Tom. But he was the one who ended up with an axe in his back.

Now Belle’s trying to cope with the death of her dad, while Tom’s busy covering his abusive tracks, intending to blame Belle for everything.

How will she get out of this nightmare?

Who plays Belle Dingle in Emmerdale?

Belle Dingle in Emmerdale is played by British actress Eden Taylor-Draper. Eden was born on 28 October 1997 and grew up in Selby, which is around 30 minutes from where the soap is filmed.

Her other acting credit is an appearance in the 2009 short film The Cardiac Oak.

  • Emmerdale review of the week: a sad goodbye, an unexpected arrival and a huge Dingle mystery!

Emmerdale review of the week: a sad goodbye, an unexpected arrival and a huge Dingle mystery!

Our Emmerdale review this week is a bit tearful! Give us a minute while we recover after this week’s super emotional episodes.

The Dingles did Zak proud didn’t they? It was the perfect send-off for the original Dingle, with lots of memories, a family member coming out of the woodwork and even an impromptu rendition of Hillybilly Rock.

Here’s what we thought about the whole emotional week in our Emmerdale review.

Sam, Belle and Cain looking sad
Understated but emotional – we were in bits over Zak’s death (Credit: ITV)

    Zak’s death

There is, of course, a place in soap for the big stunts, the dramatic episodes, and the over-the-top action. But there’s also a place for the quieter moments and that was proved brilliantly by this week.

Cain sharing the news that his dad had died with the family – while music played over the top so we didn’t hear what he said, nor how they reacted, was understated and so very effective, we’re choking up all over again just thinking about it.

Emmerdale's Dingles and Kim are mourning Zak in the pub
Zak’s send-off was unconventional but perfect (Credit: ITV)

    And Zak’s funeral

Zak was never one to be conventional in life, and his plans for his send-off were just as different! He had left strict rules about what he wanted and the family did as he asked. He was brought back from Aberdeen, drummed through the village, and buried at home. Just as he’d asked.

We especially loved the Dingles getting the villagers to cough up for Zak’s celebration, and PC Swirling showing up to pay his respects. Perfect!

    Tina Dingle
    Tina’s back! (Credit: ITV)

    Tina’s arrival

Back in the day (and it really was way, way back in the day) we loved Tina Dingle so we were equally excited and nervous about her returning. Turns out, we needn’t have been nervous at all because she was perfect.

Newcomer Samantha Power captured just enough of original actress Jacqueline Pirie‘s mannerisms to the role to remind us who Tina was. And she brought some of her own too. And we cheered when Lydia shoved her in the mud! Don’t mess with Lyds, Tina.

    You’ll learn.

    The Dingle family
Some of the extended Dingle family were at the funeral. Some of them didn’t bother to turn up *hard stare at Rhona* (Credit: ITV)

Missing Dingles in our Emmerdale review

The only thing that didn’t sit quite right with Zak’s family funeral was well, the missing members of the family. Where was Rhona? Or Mack? The kids weren’t there either – no April or Leo, Kyle or Isaac, nor Moses. It seemed odd for them not to be there, no matter how quickly the funeral had been arranged. We definitely missed Debbie, too.

Nate on Emmerdale, looking worried (Credit: ITV/EI)
    We’re still hoping Nate’s alive! (Credit: ITV/EI)

The Nate mystery continues in our Emmerdale review

Right, we’re sorry to keep going on about this, but the whole Nate thing is really odd, and we’re still not entirely convinced he’s alive. It sounds silly – and the fly in the ointment of this theory is the message he supposedly sent Tracy saying he was settling into life in Shetland – but go with us here.

His exit was so unsatisfactory, the barn fire was RIGHT THERE, and it’s pretty odd that he didn’t even reply to Tracy’s message telling him his grandad was dead.

Maybe Tracy’s holding him hostage, like Pierce did with Vanessa. Or perhaps he’s hiding in the cellar like Harriet Finch did, or maybe he did die in the barn fire, and it’s just no one has thought to look for him. Or maybe this is all just wishful thinking!

Has Caleb got away with deceiving Ruby? (Credit: ITV)
Give it a rest, Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Caleb’s relentless vendetta

Caleb keeping Ruby from her dying mum, lying about it, taking a huge chunk of money from his mother-in-law, lying about that too, and generally acting in an unforgiveable fashion is awful. Awful!

We can’t see how Ruby can possibly get over this. Caleb has done a terrible thing. And for what exactly? For some weird vendetta against Kim who barely knows he exists. Get over it, Caleb. Time to move on!

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: A perfect end to Zak’s farewell as Sam, Cain and Belle paid a final tribute

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: A perfect end to Zak’s farewell as Sam, Cain and Belle paid a final tribute

Emmerdale tonight was the last farewell to Zak Dingle as Cain, Sam and Belle reminisced over their dad in a near-perfect three-hander episode (with a bit of Lydia thrown in!).

Each Dingle sibling had their issues to air and each needed reassurance from their relatives. But with flashbacks to scenes featuring Steve Halliwell, it felt like a fitting end to the week’s episodes.

Here’s a rundown of Emmerdale tonight, Friday October 18.

Cain is scared of living up to Zak's name (Credit: ITV)

    Cain confessed

As the revelries continued in the Woolpack, Cain returned to Wishing Well to find Sam and Belle waiting to get through to him. Cain made to leave, but Belle locked them all in. Sam then pulled a bottle of whiskey out of Zak’s secret stash and their evening began.

The three siblings talked and reminisced and Sam said Zak saw Cain as head of the family. Cain insisted it was rubbish and didn’t mean anything. He declared he couldn’t do it and confided Moira had cancelled her operation because she knew he couldn’t cope.

Sam then gave his brother a hug, which Cain did not take too well and called him a fat egg! That Dingle charm, eh?!

Cain said he knows he can’t cope when things get real – he runs or lashes out. But Sam and Belle insisted Cain was the man for the job – Zak knew it, they all knew it.

Sam's afraid of letting everyone down (Credit: ITV)

Sam was sad in Emmerdale tonight

It was Sam’s turn to lament his failures next. He felt he had let Lydia and Samson down and he was a joke. He was sure Zak could have handled it all better than him.

But Cain insisted they couldn’t sit there and pretend Zak could do no wrong. He referenced the time Zak had almost killed him and Belle lost it at Cain for ruining their dad’s memory.

But Cain told how he had forgiven Zak because he knew how sorry he was. He said Zak didn’t always have the answers, but he never stopped trying – and Sam was just like him, a great dad. Belle soon forgave Cain and all was okay again. Phew.

    Belle’s fears

Belle also worried about what Zak would have thought about her not getting away from Tom sooner, but Cain assured her Zak thought she was the strongest person he knew.

Then a rendition of the absolute banger Hillbilly Rock will have put a smile on fans’ faces after many felt it was missing from Zak’s send-off episode last night.

Cain eventually read out the speech that he had been unable to give at the graveside due to being overwhelmed by his grief. And in amidst it we were treated to old footage of Zak – when Cain discovered he was his dad, offering comfort to Sam and arguing with teenage Belle. There were also more jovial clips of him with the family, smiling, laughing, joking and of course, fighting – the true Dingle way! Zak was even heard talking about love.

A final decision in Emmerdale tonight

All three of them woke up on the sofa having fallen asleep, with Cain in Zak’s chair – symbolising, perhaps, he had taken up his place as head of the family.

Sam certainly believed so as when they then went to Zak’s grave, Sam placed Zak’s hat on Cain’s head. But Cain took it off (although he plans to keep it!) and decided the three of them should split the head of the family role. Because no one person can ever replace Zak Dingle.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Zak was laid to rest and there’s a new (old) Dingle in town

Emmerdale tonight said a final farewell to the legendary Zak Dingle as he was laid to rest at home. But things were fraught as Cain spiralled and Belle struggled. Not to mention Tina Dingle turning up wanting her cut of the will!

As the Dingles try to hold it together, here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday October 17.

The village gathered for Zak’s funeral in Emmerdale tonight

As the Dingles prepared to give Zak the send off he very carefully planned, it was clear Cain was struggling more than the others. But Belle was also not coping and stayed with her dad alone when the others went to pick flowers.

Cain and Sam drove Zak’s body in the rusty old van to the village with the sounds of Rhinestone Cowboy blaring out of the stereo. The residents turned out – we wouldn’t say in force because there were more than a few missing – with even PC Swirling making an appearance to pay his respects. Zak was then carried into the pub for one last pint. At the pub everyone shared stories of Zak and fondly remembered him.

    Cain found it hard

At the Woolie, Cain was reminded he was now official head of the family and he had to lead the way. But making any sort of speech was too much for him and all he could do was raise a toast to his dad.

One by one all the missing Dingles were mentioned, including Nate, who had never got back to anyone – suspicious, us? Yes! But we’ll save that for another time!

After a good-old sing song in the Woolie, Zak was drummed up the road to his final resting place. The Dingles gathered around his graveside and that’s when a mystery blonde, who had earlier been taking photos of Wishing Well, arrived, swigging whiskey.

    Tina turned up

“The one and only Tina Dingle,” Chas declared to the shock of the surrounding family. And Tina made no bones in making her presence felt, throwing insults at all of them one by one. She didn’t even recognise Belle! But it turned out she’s kept in touch with Mandy all these years.

Cain couldn’t cope with giving a speech at the graveside and rushed off. The other Dingles did their best to stay composed as they said their final goodbyes. And Belle decided to bury Zak with Lisa’s ashes so they could be together.

Meanwhile, Mandy had found out Tina’s secret: she’d been taking photos of the house because she’s there for her share. And she was determined she was going to get it. But when she started laying into Sam, Lydia stepped up – and pushed her into a puddle of mud! It was revealed Zak did make a will and left the house to Belle, Cain and Sam. And the fall exposed Tina’s ankle tag – so she’s definitely not whiter than white!

She was then taken away by the police, but declared: “This isn’t over.” So is that the last we’ll see of Tina? Or is another Dingle heading to the village to cause chaos? Whatever your thoughts, there’s no denying she’s brilliant casting – and definitely a Dingle.

Moira ‘fessed up as Cain spiralled

Moira admitted to Cain she had cancelled her operation because of the funeral. She insisted she needed to protect him, but Cain lost it and said he was failing everyone. When Sam referred to him as head of the family again, Cain broke down and said he couldn’t live up to that title.

Sam and Belle then sat together and were upset that the funeral hadn’t given them any closure. But they reasoned they had to sort Cain out, they had to keep the family together.

They question is, without Zak, can they?

Ruby bought Caleb’s lies as he continued to plot

After spending the night in the B&B, Caleb was still struggling to appease Ruby. He also had other troubles as his business deal was set to fall apart. Jai was in his ear and we were left wondering why Emmerdale chose to bother with this storyline on tonight of all nights (or at all, if we’re honest).

After being sent off by Cain to make amends with Ruby, Caleb once again apologised – with a few more lies thrown in about what actually happened, of course. He accused Helen of calling Ruby all sorts of names and said he was protecting her from the insults. Oh Caleb, if ever there was a time to tell the truth, it’s now and you blew it. This will come back to bite you on the bum, mark our words.

The solicitor then called and flagged a payment made the morning Helen died. She’s looking into it and will report back – see, Caleb, we warned you now was the time to be honest…

Will and Kim continued to bicker in Emmerdale tonight

Will was avoiding Kim, who was feeling lonely. She asked Gabby to move back in, that’s how desperate she is!

Back at Home Farm there was more bickering between Kim and Will. We don’t know how many times we have to say it’s boring, but it really is.

Will decided to push Caleb a bit harder to get one over on Kim, but honestly this weird vendetta holds no interest at all.

‘Best episode of Emmerdale ever’ say fans after Cain tells the Dingles of Zak’s death

Cain broke the news that Zak Dingle has passed away last night in Emmerdale, and fans have been full of praise.

Cain broke the news of Zak death to the Dingles

This week in the Dales, Moira received a phone call from Debbie. She then found out that Zak Dingle had sadly passed away.

Once Cain found out the news, he then made it his job as the new head of the family to tell each Dingle the sad news last night.

First telling Belle and Sam, Cain then continued to make his through the family as he broke the news to each household of the Dingle clan individually.

However, these scenes had music playing over the top which meant that the Dingles’ reactions to the news could only be seen and not heard – a beautiful moment.

The family then came together to support each other as Cain set off in the Dingle van to bring Zak’s body home from Scotland. Sobs.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Soap airs beautiful episode as the Dingles learn of Zak’s death

Emmerdale tonight was all about the Dingles as news of Zak’s death spread. In poignant and moving scenes we saw a family in trauma pull together and be there for each other. Not a scene was out of place and thankfully, Emmerdale got this just right.

Here’s a recap of what happened in Emmerdale tonight, Tuesday October 15.

The Dingles found out about Zak

Tonight was the night the Dingles discovered Zak had died. The family gathered at the homestead as the news broke and each other them dealt with it differently. But one thing was for sure: they all supported each other in the way only Dingles can.

Cain stepped up in Emmerdale tonight

News of Zak’s death was slowly sinking in with Cain, who was silent and struggling. More details emerged as Moira revealed Debbie said Zak had been out poaching that morning and had had “the best morning ever” before falling asleep in his chair with a grin on his face. But he never woke up.

Cain knew he had to break the news to everyone in person and set out across the village to deliver the worst. In a beautiful sequence of scenes, we didn’t hear him telling each family member, we just saw it accompanied by solemn piano music. It was emotional, tears flowed, but there was a lovely sense of calm. Bravo Emmerdale for making the best of this heartbreaking story.

And even Monty the dog got his moment, as both Belle and Cain hugged him. Aw!

As the village arrived at Wishing Well to send their condolences to the family, Zak and Cain drove away in the rickety old van to bring Zak home where he belonged.

    Sam and Belle bonded

Before they discovered what had happened, Sam wanted to get Belle out in the fresh air – he was taking her animal snaring. They went out to their dad’s favourite place, which was poignant since news hadn’t yet reached them of Zak’s death. But Belle wasn’t best pleased when she discovered they were trapping rabbits and tried to rescue them!

She the confided in Sam that she was worried Zak would be disappointed in her – they way she let Tom control her and grind her down. Sam insisted she had not let her dad down – she never could.

As they were walking back from the fields, Cain was waiting to tell them the awful news.

Belle later disappeared and Sam and Cain found her outside. The three siblings looked out over the view and talked about Zak, drawing strength from each other. Sam felt Zak had been with them in the forest while they were snaring. But will that help him make peace with the situation?

    Chas struggled to cope

It was Chas who took the news particularly hard. Unable to be in the room with the family while they grieved, Chas pretended she was going back to work, but she was also unable to be in the Woolpack with all the hustle and bustle there. Liam found her crying at the allotment and insisted on taking her for a walk.

She confided about how fierce Zak was when he was young, how they all went to him when they needed anything and how he was like a dad to her.

Liam was desperate to support Chas, but then Ella called and he didn’t answer. The moment got confused as Liam announced he wanted to be with Chas – but it was unclear how he meant it (or very clear depending on how you look at it!). Chas couldn’t handle it though and told him to go to Ella. WHEN will these two just admit how they feel?

    Will and Kim grew closer

Will had arrived to ask for a loan, but he found Kim in tears over Zak’s death. He offered her a comforting hug and she melted into Will’s arms. They talked about Zak and he stayed, hugging her some more. He even had the good sense not to ask for the money he’d come crawling for.

Moira made a decision in Emmerdale tonight

She has decided she is not having the operation tomorrow. Matty was horrified, but Moira insisted she couldn’t risk Cain losing his wife less than 24 hours after Zak. Is she making the right decision?

    1. Cain is the bearer of bad news

Tonight, Cain informs the rest of the Dingle clan that Zak has passed away. News soon spreads and it’s a sad day for the Dingles and the village at large.
