Fans of Emmerdale were left shocked by Bob Hope‘s new look in last night’s episode of the soap. This came as he showed off a new jacket while advising Brenda on her relationship with Eric.
As Brenda fretted that Eric only wanted to marry her due to side-effects of the medication, Bob provided a sympathetic ear, listening patiently as she explained her worries. After all, if the meds had caused him to throw all their money into a cryptocurrency scheme, who was to say it hadn’t also been behind his proposal?
Bob was quick to put Brenda at ease, but fans were more distracted by the coat he was wearing throughout the scene.
The rain jacket – adorned with an Earthy-coloured camouflage pattern – had fans taking to social media in their droves to blast Bob’s new look.

Emmerdale fans make jokes as Bob steps out in controversial jacket
Writing on X as the episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on Bob’s coat.
“Bob’s going to using his new T.A jacket to go on the pull before long,” joked one fan.
“Is Bob off to do a survival course? Well he lives in Emmerdale – so it could come in handy,” said another.
“Has Bob joined the Army all of a sudden?” asked a third.
“Is Bob off duck hunting?!” a fourth laughed.
“Bob living in a bush on the home farm estate?” another said.
Pollard seemed to have seen sense following his talking-to from Bob. And, as the episode ended, Eric made a concerted effort to make things right with Brenda.

There’s not much we love more than meeting new Emmerdale relatives!
Since mysterious manny Nicky arrived, we’ve met his mum and dad, Ruby Fox-Miligan and Caleb Miligan, and now his sister Steph and grandfather Anthony.
We’ve lost track of all the Dingles we’ve met over the years, not to mention surprises like finding out Harriet was Dawn’s stepmum, or Charles had a thing with Manpreet.
But there are a few Emmerdale family members who we think are missing. Some we’ve met briefly. Some we’ve never seen. And some are people we’d love to meet because we’ve heard lots about them, or sometimes because we’ve heard nothing at all and that always intrigues us!
Here are some of the missing Emmerdale family members we’d love to meet!
Carlos deserved a slap (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Maureen Blackstock – Nicola’s mum
Nicola King has been in Emmerdale – on and off – since 2001. We know her dad, Rodney, her half-sister Bernice, and Bernice’s mum, Diane.
Back in the noughties, we knew Nicola’s half-brother Paul, too. And his mum – Diane’s sister – Val. But we’ve only met Nicola’s mum very briefly.
Maureen Blackstock came to the village for Nicola’s wedding to Carlos Diaz. Except, the wedding didn’t happen, because Nicola found out that her sister Bernice had been sleeping with Carlos, while Carlos found out Nicola had been lying about being pregnant. What a muddle, eh?
Anyway, in all the drama, Maureen punched Carlos, and argued with Diane, then she left, never to be seen again.
She’s definitely long overdue a return to the village.
We’d love to meet Anya now she’s grown up (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Emmerdale relatives: Anya King – Tom’s sister
Back when Carl King Snr was alive and kicking and causing havoc in the Dales, he often took care of his young children – Thomas (now evil abuser Tom) and Anya. The pair got up to all sorts in the village in their short visits.
Though Thomas returned firstly to stalk Chas, who he thought had killed Carl, and then again in 2023, Anya’s not been seen since she left the village with her brother after Carl’s funeral in 2012.
We’d love to see her again and find out whether she’s as manipulative as her brother, or if she’s one of the good Kings!
Could Roxy ditch America for Yorkshire? Course she could (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
All the Hope offspring
Bob Hope has LOADS of kids. Hundreds of them. Well, perhaps not hundreds but there are a lot and we’d love to catch up with them.
Right, pay attention – because there’s a lot to say. Bob had two children with his first wife, Jean. We met both Dawn and Jamie for quite a while back in the early 2000s.
Dawn was tragically killed in the King’s River explosion, while Jamie left to live in Cornwall. He’s never been back, even when his half-brother Heath died.
Josh and Carly were Bob’s kids to his second wife, Barbara. They both came to the village for Bob’s wedding to Viv in 2006. But though Carly has returned and left again since, Josh has apparently moved to Australia.
Roxy Lockhart is Bob’s daughter with third wife Vonda. Bob didn’t know Roxy existed until his wedding to Viv.
She came to the village very briefly back then but only appeared in a few episodes before returning to America with her mum. We’ve got to be honest, she’s the one we’d love to see more of!
It feels such a waste for Bob to have all those children out there – not to mention his stepkids Kelly and Scott, and grandson TJ – and for them never to be seen! The campaign for more Hopes in the village starts here!
Who’s missing? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale relatives: Nathan Dingle – Zak’s oldest son
Nathan Dingle is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery, wrapped in a puzzle. Because we’ve never met him. He’s never mentioned. But he exists. We think.
Back when the Dingles were first seen on screen – 30 years ago – there were parents Zak and Nellie, and their grown-up (ish!) children, Butch, Ben, Sam and Tina.
But there was another sibling – Nathan. Tina talked about him in the 90s, when she revealed she had a brother who’d left Emmerdale when he got married because he was ashamed of his family. She said he was stuck up and no one had heard from him since he’d gone.
Since then, though, Nathan’s not really been mentioned. In fact, we’re wondering if the Emmerdale bosses have decided he’s a Dingle we don’t need. At Butch’s funeral, Zak said Sam was his only surviving son – that was before he knew Cain was his of course.
Confusingly, as recently as 2018, Zak mentioned raising six kids, which could mean Cain – though he didn’t raise him – or Nathan. But there was no mention of this missing Dingle when Zak died just a few weeks ago.
So we’re left scratching our heads as to whether he’s a missing Dingle or just a brief blip! And while we’re very aware there are probably enough Dingles in Emmerdale as it is, we’re also quite keen to meet this Nathan!

Emmerdale fans have predicted that an affair between Nicola and Bob is on the cards – and that scheming Tom could use it to his sinister advantage.
Last night’s episode of the soap (Monday, November 4), saw Nicola share a tender moment with Bob. This came after her daughter Angel’s return to the village. Bob set aside his heartbreak to tell Nicola that Angel was struggling since her return from the STC – and planned not to go back to school either.
And even if not, one fan theory predicted that manipulative Tom could use Bob to drive a wedge between Nicola and Jimmy.

Emmerdale fans predict Tom will use Nicola and Bob ‘affair’ to his own advantage
Writing on X as the scene aired, fans shared their thoughts on where Bob and Nicola‘s tender moment might be headed.
“Nicola, be careful hugging Bob in public. Tom will lay it on thick with Jimmy and convince him (though it won’t take much) that she’s having a fling,” suggested one worried viewer.
“Hear me out… Nicola and Bob affair incoming?” asked a second.
“Please put Bob and Nicola together even if it’s just to sicken Jimmy,” joked another.
However, others saw the scene for what it was – a warmer moment shared between two struggling parents. After all, Bob has recently lost son Heath due to Angelica’s actions.
“Well it’s good to see Nicola Wheeler get some material to dig into. That scene with Nicola and Bob was fantastic…” another fan said.
As Bob gave Nicola a shoulder to cry on (very good of him, given what Angel had actually done), viewers sensed there could be more to it and begged the soap not to go there.

Dawn Woods shocked her father Bob when she arrived in Emmerdale in 2003 and announced she was engaged to the much older Terry.
She stayed in the village for three years before meeting a tragic end in 2006. With her final weeks currently playing out on Classic Emmerdale, we take a look at Dawn’s time in the Dales.
Terry was much older than Dawn (Credit: ITV/ Shutterstock)
Despite’s Bob’s reservations over the 27-year age gap, Dawn and Terry got married in March 2003, a month after her arrival. They went on to have son TJ (Terry Junior) together. But shortly after TJ’s birth, Terry a stroke. Struggling to cope with a baby and an ill husband, Dawn ended the marriage.
When Dawn’s mum arrived to support her through the split, she took a liking to Terry and made a move on him. After being rejected, she encouraged her daughter to go for sole custody of TJ. Dawn agreed, arguing that due to his stroke, Terry often got tired and was a possible risk to TJ.
Emmerdale Dawn Woods: Relationship with her stepbrother
Dawn started seeing her stepbrother Scott Windsor, which gained more disapproval from Bob – who was married to Scott’s mum Viv. The couple soon moved in together, but Dawn was devastated when Scott left her. Zoe Tate was planning to move to America with her and Scott’s daughter Jean, and had invited Scott to go with them.
Scott sent Dawn a letter telling her that it was best if they split as people thought their relationship was weird and he had convinced himself that he didn’t love her. Not wanting to see Scott or Zoe before they left for the US, Dawn legged it to Spain to stay with her mum.
However, Scott never made it to America. Zoe discovered that he and his mum were plotting to take Jean. A fight occurred and Zoe stabbed Scott with a syringe full of ketamine. Dawn flew home just as Scott woke up in hospital and initially forgave him. But after she discovered he’d been blackmailing Paddy to be a witness against Zoe at trial, his true colours was shown to Dawn.
Scott later punched Dawn by mistake while attacking Paddy and he was arrested for assault. Realising that Scott might be capable of rape as Zoe claimed, Dawn ended their relationship for good.

Time in prison
After his release from prison, Scott decided to get revenge on Dawn by reporting Dawn for benefit fraud. She’d been doing odd jobs to support TJ and make ends meet.
Dawn was sentenced to 6 weeks in prison, although she only served 3 weeks. Upon her release, she was shocked to discover that her mum and Terry were now in a relationship. When they refused to end their relationship, Dawn reminded Terry that her mum was the reason she went for sole custody of their son.
Dawn banned both Terry and her mum from seeing TJ and took him away to Cornwall.
Dawn’s tragic death
When Dawn returned to Emmerdale, she informed everyone that she had met someone and would be moving there permanently. Terry begged her to change her mind, but she refused.
On the day of her planned departure, Dawn allowed Terry to spend the day with TJ, but he was late returning TJ, resulting in them missing the flight.
Wanting something to do to pass the time, Dawn went with Marlon and Donna to visit their new house at the King’s River Showhome. However, a sabotage of the plot had been arranged by Sadie King and when the boiler room door was opened, the whole place exploded.
At first it appeared that Dawn was fine, with her injuries seeming minor. Doctors planned to observe her and then release her. But things took a turn and Bob returned from getting a coffee to see his daughter being rushed into emergency theatre. He was later told that she passed away from internal injuries.
Who played Dawn Woods?
Dawn was played by Julia Mallam. Before starring in Emmerdale, Julia had appeared in Fat Friends and Peak Practice.
After leaving Emmerdale, she starred in 50 episodes of children’s TV show Captain Mack. She also popped up in The Bill, Casualty and Doctors, although hasn’t appeared on TV since 2012.

Emmerdale Post Mistress and resident gossip Viv Hope has long-since been remembered by fans despite her untimely demise in a fire. In fact, her legs still feature in the opening credits 13 years after she died!
As she takes centre stage with her double wedding in Classic episodes currently, here’s the lowdown on Viv.
Viv and Vic Windsor and their kids arrive in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Viv and Vic Windsor in Emmerdale
Iconic Viv Windsor arrived in what was then Beckindale in 1993. She and her husband Vic, plus her son Scott, his daughter Kelly and their daughter together, Donna, bought the Post Office after deciding to leave London due to increasing crime rates.
Not long after the family moved, Viv’s ex-husband, Reg Dawson, father of Scott, turned up having been released from prison. He immediately took Viv and a woman called Shirley Turner hostage. He tried to shoot Viv, but Shirley was hit and killed instead. Reg was then shot by police and he died. He left £30k to Viv in his will as long as she divorced Vic, but she turned the money down and stayed with her husband.
Viv and Vic did split up for a while in 1995 when she had an affair with Terry Woods, but she went back to him for the sake of the kids. Things eventually got better for Viv and Vic, but then tragedy struck. He was shot and killed during a robbery at the Post Office on Christmas Day, 1998.
A whirlwind romance with Bob Hope swept Viv off her feet (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Viv and Bob Hope
After a turbulent few years, during which she fell out with stepdaughter Kelly and son Scott, Viv was swept off her feet by Bob Hope, a tights salesman in 2000! He very quickly moved in with her and they married in 2001.
However, they were rocked by the revelation Bob had another wife, Barbara. They got past it, but cracks were starting to show and they eventually divorced. She moved on, seducing Paddy Kirk, which resulted in the end of his marriage to Emily.
Bob wanted all of his children to attend the wedding and Viv contacted them. She became upset to discover he had kids with all of his ex-wives, but not her. He disappointed Viv when he told her kids were off the cards due to his vasectomy.
But the night before the wedding, he had the op reversed and spent the night in a hotel. Viv had no idea and when he didn’t turn up, assumed he’d jilted her. In fact, ex-wife Jean had taken him hostage in the hotel room and was begging him to get back with her. Bob managed to get away and he and Viv married for a second time.
Bob’s daughter Dawn was then killed in an explosion at a show home, thanks to the Kings. On the day of her funeral, Viv discovered she was pregnant with twins Cathy and Heath, who arrived on February 9, 2007.
After she began raising money for children’s charities, Viv got into a trouble when she gave the money to a man named Freddy Yorke who took it and ran away. When Viv admitted she was moving money around she ended up implicating herself. She was charged with conspiracy to defraud.
Although she attempted to clear her name, Freddy threatened her children’s lives and then planted stolen money on her, which only served to make matters worse. Viv pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.
She refused to let Bob visit, but determined to stand by his wife, Bob devised several plans to get into the prison. Viv eventually wrote to him in 2009 and asked him to come and see her, but he felt things were over, so decided to have sex with Gennie Walker instead!
It turned out Viv was actually being released and when she turned up in the village the next day, Brenda mistook her for a thief! Brenda was now co-owner of the business, which Viv struggled with and they clashed a lot.

The death of Viv in Emmerdale
When Viv then found out about Bob’s fling with Gennie, she called time on their marriage. However, it soon became clear she hoped the split wasn’t permanent. She began faking burglaries to play the damsel in distress and get Bob’s help and also tried to make him jealous. Eventually former lover Terry advised her to move on and she did try.
Terry supported her, but she mistook his kindness for something more and made a move. He gently knocked her back, insisting he was now with Brenda.
One more rejection hit Viv hard and she drunk a bottle of wine before passing out on the sofa. But a fire had been started at neighbouring Victoria Cottage and it soon spread to the shop. Terry broke in to rescue her and the twins. Bob got Heath and Cathy to safety, while Terry tried to get Viv.
However the Post Office exploded and Terry and Viv were both killed. Viv’s funeral was then held in her hometown of Essex, off screen.

Deena Payne and the controversy surrounding Viv’s exit
Viv was played by actress Deena Payne for 18 years, which made her one of the longest-serving show characters. Although she has admitted she was ready to leave as Viv, Deena has been very open about her disappointment over the way things were handled.
She gave an interview to the Distinct Nostalgia podcast in 2022 and explained: “18 years was enough. It was at a time when I wasn’t quite sure. If they tempted me to stay, I would’ve stayed and I would have preferred to have given in my notice. I was bitterly disappointed with the storyline exit I had as well after all the years I had been in.”
She went on to say: “I was hurt quite deeply and I did enjoy playing the character. I still miss that, absolutely, it did hurt, that’s for sure because it was a life and a person I had been playing for 18 years.”
Deena also spoke out about the storyline and how she didn’t want her character to die. “I not only didn’t have a storyline building up to it, but I also didn’t even have a grave in Emmerdale.
“They just sent my bits down south and I didn’t have any family left there so I did feel all of a sudden gone.
“And yes, in an ideal world it would have been fantastic to keep coming back in and muddying the waters and upsetting everybody and then back out as if nothing had happened.”
What is Deena Payne doing now?
Following her Emmerdale demise, Deena went back to the theatre. She has appeared on stage in Calendar Girls as well as in several pantomimes.
She has done some more TV, including True Crime and Doctors. It’s also reported she runs a dance school.

Bob Hope in Emmerdale is what you might call a serial monogamist.
It’s true Emmerdale boasts a good few men who have been married a LOT. Paddy Kirk has walked down the aisle five times – twice to current wife, Mandy Dingle. Dr Liam Cavanagh has had three wives – as he reminded Cain in a recent episode, while Marlon Dingle has been married four times.
But when it comes to romance in Emmerdale, Bob Hope takes the crown!
He’s been married, divorced, loved up, cheated, been cheated on and generally been at the heart of the drama since even before he first arrived in Emmerdale.
How many children does Bob have?
And as for kids, Bob’s got more than his fair share there too! He has seven biological children (not that he ever talks about most of them!).
He’s currently struggling to come to terms with the loss of his son, Heath, after a car accident late last year ended in Heath’s death.
But Heath isn’t the first offspring Bob has lost. In fact, he has also said sad goodbyes to daughter Dawn and his stepdaughter, Donna.
Here’s the lowdown on Bob Hope, his many marriages and his multiple offspring!

Bob’s arrival in Emmerdale
Bob Hope made his mark on Emmerdale almost immediately after his arrival in 2000. Back then he was selling tights for the company Naughty Nylons and charm was his middle name!
He hit it off with Viv Windsor and decided to settle in the village. The pair tied the knot a year later. Viv was not Bob’s first wife, though!
By the time he came to Emmerdale, Bob had already been married and divorced four times and had five children!
Twenty-four years after he first set foot in the village, Mr Hope has now been married and divorced seven times to five different women – though he’s actually walked up the aisle eight times.

Bob’s first wife was called Jean. Bob and Jean tied the knot twice, and they had two children – Dawn and Jamie. Dawn was mum to Bob’s grandson, TJ, who’d be 21 now!
Both Dawn and Jamie stayed in Emmerdale for a while. Though Dawn’s stint in the village ended in tragedy – more on that later.
Bob’s second wife, Barbara, is mum to Josh and Carly. They both arrived in the village to attend Bob’s second wedding to Viv.
Back then Carly was played by Rebecca Ryan, who went on to appear in Shameless and Coronation Street. Josh was played by Marc Silcock who later played tragic Jackson Walsh. When Carly came to the village later she had been recast and was played by Gemma Atkinson.
And Bob also had a short-lived Las Vegas marriage to third wife Vonda Lockhart. She’s the mum of Bob’s daughter Roxy. Roxy briefly visited the village in 2007.

Bob and Viv
Bob married Viv twice too. They had twins Cathy and Heath together.
Bob was a father figure and stepdad to Viv’s daughter Donna, whose biological father was Viv’s late husband, Vic Windsor.
Bob was also stepdad to Scott Windsor, Viv’s son with Reg Dawson, and Kelly Windsor, Viv’s stepdaughter thanks to her marriage to Vic Windsor!
Donna died in 2014 and left her daughter April in the care of her father Marlon. April calls Bob her grandad.

Bob and Brenda
Bob’s most recent marriage was to Brenda Walker. He and Brenda first had a handfasting ceremony in 2013, in which they exchanged vows, though it wasn’t a legal marriage.
They then married for real in 2018, but he was in love with Laurel at the time and Brenda knew what was going on. She told him to be with Laurel at their wedding reception!

Tragedies
Bob has now buried two of his children and one of his stepchildren. Dawn Woods was the first of his children to die back in July 2006.
Jimmy King was indirectly responsible for poor Dawn’s death after he opened his new King’s River development. He knew the show home had been damaged by Cain Dingle but Jimmy patched it up and went ahead with allowing people inside.
Dawn was one of the visitors and Jimmy’s bodge job came back to haunt him when the house exploded. The explosion killed three people – including Dawn, who was dragged from the rubble in front of her horrified dad.
Donna Windsor, Bob’s stepdaughter, died in 2014 shortly after returning to the village with Marlon’s secret daughter, April. She was suffering from mesothelioma, and only had a few years at best to live. But she ended up sacrificing her life when she threw herself off a multi-story car park while handcuffed to villain Gary North.
And of course Heath passed away after the car accident late last year.
Wendy and Bob are back together
Cheating!
Bob’s a big fan of romance – he’s always falling in love and he has also done a fair amount of cheating in his time! He once had a drunken one-night stand with Brenda’s daughter Gennie.
And he and Laurel Thomas had a controversial romance when Bob was preparing to tie the knot with Brenda Walker. Laurel had recently lost her husband Ashley Thomas. Ashley had been Bob’s best friend and the romance definitely bloomed from their grief.
When Bob left Brenda for Laurel on their wedding day, Laurel was stunned. Things soon unravelled between them though when he became too much for Laurel, who realised she didn’t love him and was just missing Ashley.
Now Bob’s in a relationship with Wendy Posner. Things haven’t all been plain sailing however. Wendy thought Bob had lost interest in her when in fact he was suffering from impotence.
Wendy looked elsewhere and ended up having an affair with younger doctor Liam Cavanagh. Bob found out and despite the fact he had also been tempted to cheat with Bernice Blackstock, he said he loved Wendy.
The stress then caused Bob to have a heart attack. But he and Wendy reconciled. Will they tie the knot?
