The joint hen party gets underway in Classic Emmerdale spoilers

Viv is horrified when she discovers that Donna has booked an outward bound centre for their hen do. Her mood is even further dampened when she sees that Jean has joined them.

Things go from bad-to-worse as the two brides-to-be fall out. Donna then blurts out that she wishes she wasn’t getting married.

Meanwhile, Jean continues to wind up Viv and mentions that she’s married Bob twice. Viv is left feeling flat as she realises that she is just the latest in a long line of conquests for Bob.

Later, the miserable hen party returns to the village and as if Viv’s mood couldn’t sink any lower, she is informed by a reporter that readers have lost interest in Buffy and they will no longer be doing a feature on the wedding.

Viv is determined to make the wedding more appealing to the press, so she sacks Belle as ring bearer, and gives the role to the rabbit.

    Viv’s baby plan

Bob apologises to Josh for lying to him about going blind, and tries to convince his son that he does care about him. Bob is gutted when Josh refuses to forgive him and returns home convinced he’s the worst dad ever.

Later, as Bob talks to Josh again, Viv watches on. Seeing how happy Bob looks she comes up with a plan.

Viv tells Bob that she would like to give him the chance to be a good father and says that she wants them to have a baby. Bob is shocked and explains that it can’t happen because he’s had the snip. Viv wants him to have it reversed, but Bob says no.

Marlon’s had enough in Classic Emmerdale spoilers

Marlon is sick of Viv’s demands and he and Donna attend the wedding rehearsal, but it turns into a row. The Dingles end up leaving in a huff, with Marlon trying to make it up to them.

Viv later interferes again and tells Marlon they’re moving the stag do to the following night. This upsets Marlon as it’s the date of his and Tricia’s wedding anniversary, but Viv isn’t fazed.

However, Donna is more understanding. When she finds out about the date change, she worries for Marlon and tries to speak to him. Marlon has had enough though and tells Donna he doesn’t want to talk about anything wedding related.

    Alice plans a wing-walk

Alice takes control of her life and vows to do a wing-walk to raise money for chemo patients. Sam is shocked and worried when Alice announces the news. He tries to talk her out of it, but Alice remains determined.

Elsewhere, Dawn goes to an adult learning centre to look into courses. She realises that she’ll need to pass her driving test in order to get herself to and from college as some of the lessons don’t finish until 9.30pm.

Del does her best to convince Chas that nothing happened but just as she’s getting through Carl arrives and announces they only slept together once and it meant nothing. Oops!

Aaron decides he’s leaving, so he calls his dad Gordon to come and collect him. Chas is hurt and warns him he’ll soon be playing second fiddle to his dad’s new baby with wife Sandra.

Aaron snaps back that he’s happy living with them and points out Chas is the one who ruined his life – not Sandra.

He even says he’s not surprised Carl found someone else and poor Chas is devastated.

    Uninvited guest

    Debbie’s causing trouble

Ashley tells Lisa that Debbie stayed at the vicarage last night but he’s shocked when Lisa announces she doesn’t care – she’s had enough of the teen’s bad behaviour. Jasmine convinces Ashley to let Debs stay another night.

    How many more?!

Bob’s in for another shock when his ex-wife Barbara shows up with kids Josh and Carly in tow. She tells Val and Viv she felt guilty about denying Bob time with his kids, when his eyesight is failing – a lie Bob has told her.

Bob’s worried to realise he’ll have to pretend to be blind but Viv and Val instead tell Barbara that Bob’s been cured! What a miracle!

  • As Laurel has a passionate encounter with Charles, all the bad romance choices she’s made!

As Laurel has a passionate encounter with Charles, all the bad romance choices she’s made!

Laurel and Charles had an unexpected and very passionate encounter in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale. One minute they were yelling at one another and the next, they were snogging the faces off each other.

Frankly, we’re not sure how we feel about this, erm, liaison. Charles just appears to be yet another bad decision on Laurel’s part. And she is no stranger to hooking up with the wrong blokes.

We’re not sure where Laurel and Charles is going but in the meantime, here’s our round up of Laurel’s dreadful taste in men!

Marlon comforts Laurel after the funeral of her mother, Hilary. They embrace before taking things further.

    Bad timing with Marlon Dingle

This is a bit unfair, really, because other than an emotional kiss with dying ex-wife Donna, Marlon really didn’t do anything wrong. But he was definitely the wrong man for Laurel at the wrong time.

When they first fell for each other, she was still married to Ashley and she and Marlon agreed to put their feelings aside.

But after they split, she and Marlon got together and planned their wedding. Once they’d tied the knot though, having dealt with Laurel’s carjacking, and the death of Donna, Laurel began descending into alcoholism. Her behaviour led to the break-up of their marriage.

    A stranger in a bar

When Laurel was at the lowest point of her addiction, she went off drinking in a bar, and flirted with a stranger in order to get him to buy her booze. She ended up spending the night with him, and it was after that she realised she needed help to kick her drinking habit. So in some ways, he did her a favour!

    Making mistakes with Bob Hope

We’d have expected it from serial cheat Bob, but everyone was surprised when Laurel succumbed to his charms back in 2018, when he was with Brenda. Laurel was still grieving the loss of Ashley, and turned to his best friend for comfort – blowing apart his family and hurting her own in the process.

Bob and Laurel never really had any proper chemistry. They quickly realised their romance was a mistake, though too late to spare any hurt or save Bob’s marriage, and it was no surprise when they split.

Jai and Laurel on their wedding day

    Marriage to Jai Sharma

They were quite sweet at first, were Jai and Laurel. Two former addicts, both single parents, both with (a lot!) of baggage. They muddled through tough times including terminating Laurel’s unplanned pregnancy, and seemed to be making a success of their blended family.

But then Jai’s lies, schemes and deceptions caught up with him. Of course, Laurel had already forgiven him for his financial fibs but lying about what happened to Amit, and scamming cousin Suni out of his share in the Hide was a step too far. Enough was enough – Laurel called it quits and Jai is FUMING.

Laurel and Charles Anderson in Emmerdale

She may have a thing for vicars but we’re pretty sure Charles is not the one for Laurel.  We can’t see Laurel and Charles making a go of things. After all, he’s fickle, opinionated, and the only woman he really pays attention to is his mum, Claudette.

We’re very much hoping their afternoon delight was just a rebound thing and not the beginning of yet another doomed romance for Laurel!

  • Emmerdale writers warned over Nicola and Bob as scenes show them growing closer

Emmerdale writers warned over Nicola and Bob as scenes show them growing closer

Fans of Emmerdale have warned its writers not to start a Bob Hope and Nicola King affair storyline – as scenes in last night’s episode appeared to show the pair growing closer.

This came as Nicola attempted to come to terms with the news that daughter Angel wouldn’t be getting an early release from the detention centre – after starting a fight with another young inmate.

Angel has been serving time there after pleading guilty to death by dangerous driving – being behind the wheel during the accident which killed Bob’s son, Heath.

And whose better shoulder to cry on than that of, uh, the dead boy’s father, Bob, right?

Miserable parents Jimmy and Nicola were left distraught at the news that their Angel appeared to be headed down a darker path, with Nicola in a noticably sullen mood (more sullen than usual, anyway) at work.

And it was here that she was consoled by Bob. A very magnanimous move, given that Angel was largely responsible for the death of his son.

And, as these scenes aired, fans of the soap warned its writers to not even bother setting the pair up for an affair.

Emmerdale fans warn soap against Bob and Nicola affair

As scenes between the pair aired, fans took to social media to share their thoughts.

“Bob and Nicola better not have an affair,” wrote one concerned viewer on X.

    https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

“I’m also thinking that they are going to try and push for a Nicola and Bob affair down the line, or one of them will misread the signals?” suggested another.

Is an affair between Bob and Nicola on the cards?

Meanwhile, the general impropriety of the situation was not lost on the viewership.

“Bob lost his son. Nicola’s daughter is paying the price. But Bob is a shoulder to cry on? Insane,” pointed out another viewer.

    https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

“How Nicola’s got the gall to be [expletive] with Bob!” exclaimed another outraged fan.

Will Nicola and Bob set aside their (pretty big) difference to find comfort in each other’s company? We certainly hope not.

The Grange B&B: All of its owners including Alan Turner, Eric Pollard and Bob Hope

The Grange B&B in Emmerdale offers tourists, and on a pretty regular basis, locals, a place to stay. It’s been a fundamental part of village life since 2002.

It is located on Main Street, next to The Woolpack pub. With its chic and stylish décor, The Grange definitely offers that boutique feel to its paying customers.

Business has been up and down over the years, but whatever crisis its faced, the B&B always seems to bounce back.

The Grange is currently jointly owned by village residents Bob Hope and Nicola King, but has changed hands many times over the years.

It’s also been the scene of a grisly murder – or two – but just don’t tell the guests!

History of the B&B in Emmerdale

The building of The Grange dates way back to around 1700. It was once the residence of a lady called Mrs Butterworth.

It’s next door to the former corn chandlers dwellings, which in 1976 were transformed into The Woolpack after the original pub was found to have subsidence.

The first time the building was featured on air was in 1990 when a tanker crashed into its front wall.

    Murder most horrid

In 2002, village resident Alan Turner took over the running of The Grange. Alan already had considerable experience in managing a business, having previously been the landlord of The Woolpack.

Four years later, Alan’s son Terence Turner came to stay at the B&B. It was revealed he had abused his sister, and Alan’s daughter, Stephanie Forsythe, when they were teenagers.

A fight broke out upstairs in The Grange between Terence and Steph’s husband Dr Adam Forsythe, who ended up bludgeoning his brother-in-law to death with a fire extinguisher.

But he wasn’t the only unlucky person to meet a grisly end in the B&B.

In May 2018, serial killer Lachlan White claimed another victim. He lured Gerry Roberts to the B&B – that was undergoing renovations at the time – and proceeded to bash his brains out.

    Louise and Terry take over

In 2004 Louise Appleton and Terry Woods were in a relationship and it was getting serious. They decided to buy the B&B together and Matthew King stepped in to help with the financial side of things.

Unfortunately, Matthew’s intentions weren’t honorable and soon he and Louise began an affair. When the truth came out, the B&B deal came through.

However, Terry once again tried to buy the place, with new girlfriend Jean Hope. Jean couldn’t come up with the cash, though, so Louise stepped in again. She sold her share of the Woolpack to Val Lambert to spite Diane who she blamed for the breakdown of her latest relationship.

The Eric Pollard years at the B&B in Emmerdale

In 2008, Eric married the irrepressible Val Lambert and Louise, who had moved back to Australia, sold her share of the B&B to them. Terry then sold his share to them a year later. Together Eric and Val really put their stamp on the place.

Two years on, teenage tearaway Amy Wyatt rocked up at the B&B under the pretence of being a nurse looking for a cut-price room.

The Pollards soon discovered Amy was on the run from her foster family. But they took pity and invited her to stay, before going on to formally adopt her.

The fortunes of the B&B fluctuated over the years, and Pollard struggled to stay afloat after Val’s tragic death in 2015.

    Unwelcome guests

In 2022, Pollard hired Chas Dingle to be the new manager of the B&B.

Chas had just been forced to sell her share of The Woolpack and was out for revenge on her cousin Charity, who had taken the role of landlady of her beloved boozer.

Eric helped Chas sabotage Charity’s grand re-opening, but as payback Mackenzie Boyd infested the B&B with rats!

Unsurprisingly, Chas’s stint at the B&B ended shortly afterwards and she returned to where she belongs – behind the bar of the Woolie.

    The end of an era

In 2023 Eric made the tough decision to sell up to help out son, David Metcalfe, who’d fallen into financial troubles with David’s shop.

Bob Hope and Bernice Blackstock became the new owners of The Grange and set about giving the place a very glamorous glow-up.

Having completed their rather bougie makeover, Bernice and Bob invited the residents to attend their grand reopening party and hired a harp player called Tim to provide the entertainment.

Bernice also ended up playing sweet music with the harpist. But tragedy struck when Bob thought he had found Tim dead in one of the B&B’s bedrooms.

This time there had been no foul play, it looked like poor Tim’s heart had just given out. However all was okay when Tim actually woke up, having taken a sleeping pill to block out Bernice’s snoring!

Bernice and Bob’s partnership didn’t last long after that.

In November 2023 Bernice was found to have been defrauding her sister Nicola King and did a flit from the village.

The Grange is now co-owned between Nicola and Bob.

Café Main Street: From Viv Hope’s Post Office to Brenda and Nicola’s busy eatery

Café Main Street is where you’ll find the locals of Emmerdale enjoying a cuppa and a catch up. Housed in the former village shop and Post Office, the cafe has been serving up coffee and cake to its customers since 2011.

As its name suggests, the cafe is situated on Main Street, in the heart of Emmerdale, near Keepers Cottage and Mill Brook Cottage.

It is currently co-owned by Bob Hope, Brenda Walker, and Nicola King, who has a 20 percent stake in the business.

And serving up the beverages, barista with his own brand of old-school charm is Nicola’s father, Rodney Blackstock.

The history of Café Main Street in Emmerdale

Café Main Street’s building was first seen on screen in 1973, when it was the Beckindale Village Shop.

Incredibly, the building and then-shop dated all the way back until around 1700.

    The Post Office

Café Main Street was also formerly the village Post Office. This was installed in 1975, but only mentioned on-screen occasionally and its interior was rarely seen.

In August 1993, Viv and Vic Windsor and their family – moved to the village and purchased the post office.

From then it became a central location and survived several local disasters, including the famous plane crash of December 1993.

In 1994, a gas explosion ripped through the post office. Viv was held at gunpoint by masked robbers in 1994. Then, on Christmas Day 1998, Vic was killed in a bungled burglary. The armed robber was Andy Sugden’s dad Billy Hopwood.

Viv remarried Bob Hope and continued to run the post office and cafe.

Then tragedy struck again in January 2011 when a fire claimed the life of postmistress Viv and her friend Terry Woods.

The post office was largely destroyed, so Viv’s widower Bob Hope decided to re-open exclusively as a café.

    Bob’s new business

Bob launched Main Street Café in 2011, and although the business is still going, he’s definitely made a few mistakes along the way,

In 2015, Bob found himself on the wrong side of the law when he pinched money from the cafe till to cover a pay-day loan.

Bob roped Val Pollard in to pose as business partner Brenda Walker to secure the loan. However, he ended up getting arrested for fraud. Bob was bailed, but did eventually go to prison after getting into a fight.

Following his release, Bob came up with the idea of holding a regular mothers and children group in the cafe to bring in more revenue. However, this ended up being rather short-lived.

Financial woes for Café Main Street in Emmerdale

By August 2018, the Café was struggling to stay afloat. Bob made the decision to stop working there. He only collects the profits from his share if there were any left over.

It wasn’t long before Bob returned behind the counter, but the cafe soon faced total financial ruin after Brenda accidentally served a sandwich containing almonds to Dan Spencer, unaware he was severely allergic to them.

The incident left Dan wheelchair-bound and Brenda was threatened with expensive legal action.

That’s when Nicola King stepped in and decided to capitalise on Brenda’s misfortune.

Nicola offered Bob and Brenda £20,00 in exchange for a 20 percent share of the business, which they were forced to accept.

Bob now owns the B&B – alongside Nicola and Jimmy – and Brenda, Nicola and Jimmy, plus Rodney are usually seen behind the counter of the cafe.
