Who’s leaving Emmerdale in 2025? A complete guide to departures, returns and new arrivals in the Dales

We’re all excited to see what’s in store for the locals of Emmerdale in 2025, but who’s leaving this year? There have already been huge changes to the Emmerdale cast with four deaths.

And now it looks like we’re already getting another exit this year as it’s reported Gail Loman actress Rachael Gill-Davis is leaving after six years.

It isn’t all about the goodbyes, however. The next 12 months will mark the arrival of exciting new faces to the Dales, including newcomer Kammy later in March. There will quite possibility the return of a few old faces too, following the exciting comeback of Joe Tate!

Here is the lowdown on who’s coming and going in 2025.

    Who’s leaving Emmerdale in 2025?

    Gail Loman

It has been reported that Rachael Gill-Davis has become the latest person to quit Emmerdale. She has been in the soap for two years, but first appeared six years ago.

Gail is the girlfriend of Ryan Stocks and after a brief appearance in 2019, made a full-time comeback in 2023. Her biggest storyline was the secret son she shared with Ryan – who largely seems to have been forgotten about now!

According to The Sun Rachael agree to leave the soap later this year after her character failed to integrate into village life. The source said: “Rachael has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go.

“Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable. The door has been left open but it’s a definite goodbye for now.

“Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows.”

Emmerdale declined to comment on the report.

    Ella Forster

According to reports, actress Paula Lane is bidding farewell to Emmerdale after only a year on screen. Her character, Ella Forster arrived in the village in January 2024, but isn’t long for the exit door.

News of Ella’s imminent departure was revealed on Paula’s talent Spotlight page, which is linked to the star’s Instagram bio. It states that Paula is set to wrap filming on Emmerdale in February 2025. This means that Ella is likely to bow out some time in the spring. Emmerdale Insider contacted Emmerdale, who told us they do not comment on cast member’s contracts.

Ella’s been an interesting addition to the village and has definitely brought the drama. Fans were excited to have former Corrie star Paula Lane back on our screens, and she hasn’t disappointed.

The past 12 months have seen Ella find a new bestie in Mandy Dingle and start a romance with dishy doc Liam Cavanagh. But then came the shock revelation that Ella was a killer and took the life of her childhood best friend when she was just 11 years old. Ella was briefly ostracised by the locals, but hoped she could make a fresh start after discovering she was pregnant with Liam’s baby. Sadly, her dream of a happy family was dashed when Ella suffered a miscarriage and Liam rekindled his relationship with Chas Dingle.

Since losing Liam to Chas, Ella has gone all creepy stalker on us. Her psycho behaviour has led fans to suggest she may even return to the dark side. Will Ella commit her second murder and end up in prison?

    Brenda Walker

After 16 years in Emmerdale, 2025 is reported to be Lesley Dunlop’s last on the Yorkshire-based soap.

Although yet to be formally announced, Lesley’s departure was revealed via a recent article in The Mirror.

A source told the publication: “There have been so many exits recently and the talk is of more. With people like Lesley and Roxy potentially in the mix, nobody feels safe.”

“The show has grown a lot bigger in recent years but soaps are expensive to make. It’s inevitable saving money means losing people.”

Emmerdale declined to comment when contacted about Lesley’s rumoured exit, and there are no further details on how her character might be written out.

Brenda has been part of village life since April 2008 and has featured in nearly 1500 episodes. As the co-owner of Cafe Main Street, she’s one of the most loved locals. After a disastrous short-lived marriage to Bob Hope, Brenda found happiness with Eric Pollard. Emmerdale’s longest standing character is played by actor Chris Chittell, who’s actually Lesley’s real-life husband.

Brenda has been Eric’s rock as he’s come to terms with his Parkinson’s diagnosis and was overjoyed when he popped the question. But their relationship and upcoming wedding ended after Brenda discovered Eric had squandered her life savings to invest in a cryptocurrency scam. But with no money left, what will prompt her to depart the Dales?

Who’s leaving Emmerdale – recent departures

    Amy Barton

In tragic scenes that aired in February, Amy Barton was killed off following the lake limo crash. In a week that had already seen the deaths of Suzy Merton and Leyla Harding it was something of a surprise when Amy died too.

She had been stuck under the ice and although Tracy pulled her out, Amy had severe hypothermia. Even though it looked like she was recovering, she sadly lost her life.

Actress Natalie Ann Jamieson posted on her Instagram after the heartbreaking episode aired, thanking fans for their support over the years.

She wrote: “Goodbye Amy. I have had the best six years of my life playing this gobby Geordie with a heart of gold!

“What a way to go – so so proud of the cast and crew who achieved all of this in these last few eps!”

    Suzy Merton

In dramatic scenes in February 2025, Suzy Merton was killed off. She was travelling in a limo for a girls’ night out with various other villagers and it crashed. Driver Charity Dingle had swerved to avoid hitting Noah who had stumbled dazed and confused into the road. The limo then skidded onto an iced over lake and gradually began falling through the ice.

Sadly, Suzy was killed immediately on impact. She was left in the limo as it sunk to the bottom of the lake.

Martelle Edinborough, who played Suzy, confirmed she has left the soap with a message to followers on social media platform, X.

“And just like that….Suzy is no more and a new chapter begins!! What an ep!

“It’s been such a blessing to have been a part of such an iconic show that I grew up on and loved by so many!!”

    Leyla Harding

Reports first surfaced back in October that actress Roxy Shahidi had decided not to renew her contract.

And now that has come to pass. After the lake limo crash, Leyla was impaled with glass in her side and slowly bleeding out. By the time she got out of the limo she was barely conscious and Kerry and Vanessa had to drag her to safety.

She was taken in an ambulance, however she was sadly declared dead on arrival at the hospital. She had lost too much blood to survive.

Leyla first arrived in Emmerdale in 2008 before leaving in 2011. She returned for a brief spell in 2014 before reprising her role permanently later that year. She was involved in several big storylines, including her romances with David Metcalfe and Liam Cavanagh and the revelation she was Jacob Gallagher’s birth mum.

After her exit scenes aired, Roxy revealed the news Leyla was going to be killed off came as a ‘shock’.

She told Loose Women: “To have been in a show like that for 16 years is such a blessing, it’s something you can’t take for granted. We’re always aware each year, most of us are on yearly contracts so you never know.

“To have done 16 years, I am so grateful, but when I got that call because I kind of knew something was happening… it was a shock.

“When it’s such an epic story, you know it’s going to happen and I think your job is just to process that, do the best you can, and just keep going.”

    Who’s joining Emmerdale in 2025?

    Kammy

There’s trouble ahead for Ross Barton and Sarah Sugden as Shebz Miah joins Emmerdale as new village bad boy Kammy. His first scenes will air in March as he steals a quad bike from Moira’s farm.

With the finger of blame being pointed at Ross, Kammy meets Sarah – whose loyalties are divided between Ross and the charismatic stranger.

Speaking about his exciting new role in the soap, actor Shebz Miah, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Everyone has been so welcoming and I already feel like a part of the family.”

He continued: “I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better job – the character is such an exciting one to play and Kammy will definitely ruffle a few feathers, but he does have the gift of the gab so although he causes a lot of mischief, I think it will be hard not to like him!”

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw added: “We are delighted to be welcoming Shebz to Emmerdale as cheeky charmer Kammy. Charismatic, with a very playful spirit, but ultimately kind at heart, Yorkshire lad Kammy promises to bring both excitement and danger to the village.”

Who’s returning to Emmerdale in 2025?

The rumour mill has been in overdrive with fans speculating which former faces might make a comeback in 2025.

Pete Barton is top of the list, and it would be perfect timing given his brother Ross’s recent return to the village. The Barton brothers were caught up in a toxic love triangle with Debbie Dingle. However, they made up and when Pete left the Dales in 2020 he went to join Ross in Liverpool. Are they about to reunited again?

And then there’s the comeback that all Robron fans are holding out for – Aaron’s soulmate, Robert Sugden. There’s some serious unfinished business between these two and we’d love to see Robert and half-brother John go toe to toe for the man they love.

Who’s leaving Emmerdale? A complete guide to exits, returns and newcomers to the Dales

The Emmerdale cast changes regularly, but who’s leaving Emmerdale next? The village is always busy with comings and goings, and this year is proving to be no different! We’ve recently said goodbye to Nate Robinson, and also waved off Samson Dingle, Suni Sharma, Nicky Miligan and Ethan Anderson this year.

And we’ve welcomed back Ross Barton!

And there is more drama to come in the shape of exits and entrances. Here’s the lowdown on who we’re going to be meeting and who’s saying farewell to the Dales.

    Who’s leaving Emmerdale?

    Emmerdale's Will serious
Will died at Christmas (Credit: ITV)

Will Taylor was the most recent exit to air on-screen as he shocked the nation with his death this Christmas.

On Christmas Day, Will and Kim held a vow renewal before Joe Tate rocked up and told Kim all about Will’s plan to get revenge on her. It turned out that whilst Will thought that Joe (or Jamie as he mistakenly thought) was on his side, he’d been double-crossed.

The stress (or so we think) got too much for Will and he ended up collapsing to the ground and bringing the Home Farm Christmas tree down with him.

He then suffered a heart attack but Kim mistook this for a panic attack and failed to help him, instead powdering her nose and relishing in his suffering.

It was only when Joe Tate turned up and recognised the signs of a heart attack that Kim sprung into action. But, it was too late and Will passed away. Brutal.

    Ella Forster

Actress Paula Lane is reportedly leaving the show in 2025. Paula has played the role of Ella Forster in Emmerdale since the beginning of the year, but it looks like an exit is already set.

The news was revealed on Paula’s own talent Spotlight page, which is linked in her Instagram bio. It states that while she is currently playing Ella in Emmerdale, she is set to finish filming in February 2025. This suggests the character’s Emmerdale exit will appear on the screen in spring time. Emmerdale Insider reached out to Emmerdale who told us they do not comment on cast contracts.

Ella has been part of some huge storylines this year. She quickly became friends with Mandy Dingle and found a romantic spark with Liam Cavanagh. But it all fell apart when it was revealed she had killed a friend of hers during her childhood, and was jailed for a long time

Ella was then pregnant with Liam’s baby and she hoped to rekindle their romance. But she tragically lost the baby, and Liam’s focus was on his feelings for Chas Dingle.

Just last week Ella found out the pair are now giving their relationship a go, and fans have predicted Ella will let her ‘psycho’ side out.

But could this be what leads to her exit?

    Brenda Walker

A report in The Mirror has suggested Lesley Dunlop is leaving her role as Brenda Walker after 16 years. The exit has not been officially announced and Emmerdale has declined to comment.

A source told the publication: “There have been so many exits recently and the talk is of more. With people like Lesley and Roxy potentially in the mix, nobody feels safe.

“The show has grown a lot bigger in recent years but soaps are expensive to make. It’s inevitable saving money means losing people – but it’s a huge shame all the same for those involved, their friends and colleagues.”

Brenda owns the local cafe alongside Nicola King. She is the partner of Eric Pollard and has helped him through his Parkinson’s diagnosis. At the start of this year Brenda was left devastated when her stepson, Heath, was killed in a car accident.

Currently Brenda has no idea Eric has taken their life savings and invested it in a bogus cryptocurrency scheme. She’s sure to find out before too long as all their accounts are empty. But will she forgive him? Or could this cause her to leave?

In real life Lesley is married to Chris Chittell who plays Eric.

    Amelia Spencer

It’s been announced that Daisy Campbell, who plays Amelia Spencer, is leaving Emmerdale after 13 years.

Amelia’s has been in a relationship with domestic abuser Tom King, leaving fans worried she might meet a sad end, though Daisy has said the door is being left open so she could return.

Recently she finally saw the light about the man she had been defending and helped the police to catch him. Tom has tried to get her back on side, but she has refused to be put on his prison call list.

So what finally forces Amelia out of Emmerdale? She’s struggling with the shame and guilt of not believing Belle, has spraypainted Jimmy and Nicola’s door with the word ‘scum’ and is feeling lost and alone. Will she leave the village to seek a new life away from all her past trauma?

    Tom King

Evil Tom King’s campaign of abuse against poor Belle is due to be resolved at the end of the year. Actor James Chase is said to be leaving the show and fans are already speculating how he departs.

Currently Tom is in prison after he was caught out spying on Belle. Cops – including the wonderful DS Foy – had enough evidence to charge Tom with coercive and controlling behaviour. Although he was let out on bail, he decided to skip the country and thanks to some very clever work by Belle, his escape was foiled and he was caught before he could board the ferry.

However, that was not the last we’ve seen of Tom. He is trying all he can to lie and manipulate his way out of prison. He’s set to get cousin Angelica on board to try and fight his case.

And with his trial set for before Christmas Tom is on his way out of the show one way or another – but will it be a lengthy stint in prison? Or a life of freedom?

    Leyla, played by Roxy Shahidi

    Leyla Harding

Reports have emerged that Leyla Harding, who’s played by Roxy Shahidi, is to leave the show in dramatic fashion!

Last month, it was rumoured that Leyla will be departing Emmerdale forever! Stories hit the press suggesting that Leyla could be killed off in explosive scenes.

Fans have been speculating wildly about how Leyla might shuffle off this mortal coil with some viewers even suggesting serial killer Meena Jutla could return to finish Leyla off.

Meanwhile, other fans have suggested evil Tom King could strike the killer blow, or someone else entirely.

We’re frankly devastated by the very idea of Leyla leaving and taking faint hope from the fact that the good people at Emmerdale haven’t confirmed or denied the rumours.

    Who’s joining Emmerdale?

Emmerdale has not released any upcoming casting information.

    Who’s returning to Emmerdale?

Well we don’t know details, but show boss Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy back in September: “This Christmas, there is a huge surprise arrival on Christmas Day. As well as some life or death jeopardy on Christmas Day – but obviously there will be festive brilliance as we do every year – but I think it is one of the most exciting Christmases that I can remember on Emmerdale this year!”

Speculation is now rife that the ‘surprise arrival’ will in fact be a return. Many fans think Pete Barton will come home, now his brother Ross is settling in the village again.

Others think Joe Tate, who may or may not be plotting against Kim (could be just wishful thinking) will be back. And some are hoping (still) for the Robert Sugden comeback they’ve been calling for. Just as John and Aaron are set for a happy Christmas together, could Robert come back to stir up the pot?

Brenda scenes have viewers laughing out loud as they beg for ‘more comedy’

Viewers were left laughing out loud, as in last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Tuesday, December 17), Brenda thought Eric was having an affair with Kerry!

The current storylines in Emmerdale have been deemed as dark and bleak by fans. But last night, in between the madness, there was a hint of the comedic soap everyone remembers.

Brenda has had a tough time as of lately, and so the last thing she needed was finding out Eric and Kerry were together. But thankfully for everyone, that is not the case.

Recently Brenda and Eric called time on their relationship, as she could no longer trust him. Behind her back he had invested all of his and Brenda’s money into cryptocurrency that proved to be a scam.

While they may not be living together, the pair still clearly care a lot about each other, which is why Brenda was heading over to his house.

Emmerdale: Brenda brought comedy back to the show

When Brenda arrived at Eric’s last night, she let herself in as usual. But she heard strange noises coming from upstairs, and when she realised it was Eric and Kerry, she quickly assumed they were sleeping together.

In very funny scenes, Kerry walked downstairs just in time to see Brenda literally running away from the house.

Not one to hide her feelings, Brenda soon confronted the pair in the Woolpack, who were equally as shocked as we were at her accusation.

Soon Eric had explained that Kerry was his new cleaner, and was helping him get something he had dropped and that must have been what she heard.

And while it was all a big misunderstanding, it provided some quite comedic scenes for us to enjoy.

    Fans call for more comedy

After the episode aired, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their opinions. And it’s safe to say everyone enjoyed the comedic relief.

One wrote: “The Pollard/Kerry/Brenda mix up was hilarious tonight. Please more comedy like this Emmerdale. That was too funny.”

Another added: “The Kerry and Eric scenes with Brenda were brilliant tonight. More of that please.”

A third penned: “Kerry and Eric are an unlikely friendship pairing that I can totally get behind. Was really funny stuff tonight.”

It seems everyone is in agreement that while the show can tackle its hard-hitting storylines, it doesn’t have to be dark stuff every night.

5 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight: Charity has words with Tom, and Brenda suspects the worst of Eric

In Emmerdale spoilers for tonight Belle’s concerns grow and Tom thinks he has gotten away with everything. But has he?

Elsewhere, John begins to open up more to Aaron, and Brenda gets the wrong idea.

Read below for full Emmerdale spoilers for tonight’s episode (Tuesday December 17).

Charity is with Tom at the hospital
Emmerdale spoilers: Charity visits Tom in hospital (Credit: ITV)

    1. Belle is terrified

Last night saw a code red in prison, with Tom getting rushed to hospital after he attempted to take his life. But of course, it was all just another one of his manipulation strategies to come out on top.

But for Belle, she doesn’t know this. And the thought of potentially being the reason that someone took their own life is too much for her.

While the Dingles all try their hardest to support her in any way they can, she begins to question if she is capable of standing up in court. So in her time of need she turns to Paddy for some words of wisdom.

However, will she walk away from their conversation with a new found courage? Or is she going to be questioning herself even more?

    2. Charity takes things into her hands

The Dingles always rally around their own in time of need, and Charity isn’t going to sit back and watch Belle fall apart over something that isn’t true.

So when she realises Tom faked his suicide attempt, she manages to get access to his hospital room – of course she does, she’s Charity Dingle.

At first Tom is taken aback to see her there, but when she tries to get him to admit he faked the whole thing to affect his court day, Tom realises she’s only there because Belle must be questioning everything.

Charity leaves the hospital fearing she has made the situation worse. And when Tom tells Ollie that Belle will no longer testify, is he right?

    3. Billy refuses to go to Home Farm

Jai blindsides Billy and Dawn, asking them to move out of Holdgate by the end of the week. Of course the pair weren’t expecting that, but Dawn believes heading back to Home Farm would be the best thing they could do.

However, this doesn’t go down well with Billy, as he completely refuses to go back there, even with the bleak situation they are in.

With Dawn getting more and more frustrated, what will they do?

Emmerdale spoilers 4. John opens up

Aaron has been blindsided by an unwanted camping trip with John. And last night’s episode (December 16) saw Aaron open up to him about Gordon.

While it seemed the pair were getting closer, John once again pulled out the name tag of Aidan Moore.

In tonight’s episode, he finds himself beginning to open up to Aaron about Aidan, and it seems to bring the pair closer.

    5. Brenda gets the wrong idea

Eric is just beginning to earn back Brenda’s trust after the whole crypto-currency scam that lost her all of her money.

Now, Kerry offers to help Eric with some housework, and Brenda isn’t aware.

So, when she hears the pair upstairs together, she immediately jumps to a very, very wrong conclusion.

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Eric’s lost everything, Jade’s awful, and Moira’s got lovely hair

Emmerdale review of the week: Eric’s lost everything, Jade’s awful, and Moira’s got lovely hair

Our Emmerdale review this week is a mixed bag. There were things we loved and things we didn’t. A few things that we thought were really cleverly done and some that really weren’t.

Here’s what we thought in our Emmerdale review of the week.

    Brenda chats to Eric seriously?
Eric lost all of Brenda’s savings (Credit: ITV)

    Eric’s gamble

We have been surprised by how invested we are in Eric’s impulsive behaviour and the fall out. We’ve been musing about why this has drawn us in, when it’s really a rather low-key storyline. And here’s what we reckon – it’s old school, isn’t it?

Classic Emmerdale is full of stories about money worries, scams and fraud, so in terms of subject matter this feels like something from back in the day (though back then, it would have been Pollard doing the scamming!).

But more than that, it’s been a slow burn. Eric changed his medication a while ago. It was a throwaway, inconsequential storyline that we didn’t think was important. But since then his behaviour has become more impulsive, and now his whole world has fallen apart because he’s gambled away all his money and Brenda’s too on a cryptocurrency scam.

It’s so sad to see Eric suffering and to watch Brenda’s heart breaking. We wish there was a way back for them. But it doesn’t look good, does it?

Jade in between Billy and Ross
Why is Jade so scary? (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale review: Evil Jade

Jade continues to be a strange mix of mega-villain and petty criminal. And we do not like it. Nothing about her weird pursuit of Ross makes sense. In fact nothing about her at all makes sense.

She is a master criminal who has a team of henchmen and one henchwoman, evil enough to dangle poor April off a multi-storey carpark. She knows everything about everyone. She has a fancy car and someone to drive her round in it. And yet her line of business appears to be running half-hearted boxing matches. She’s hardly Lex Luther is she?

What was her plan when she viciously assaulted a little girl? If her minion had dropped poor April, Jade still wouldn’t have had her money.

Why are all these hard men so scared of her? Is it the beret? And WHY OH WHY didn’t Ross, or Billy, or Aaron or Mack just call the police?

Anyway given she’s still determined to get her mitts on the missing £3000 so it seems it’s not the last we’ve seen of Jade. YAY.

April is dangled over the side of the carpark
There was a silver lining to April’s ordeal (Credit: ITV)

    April, Marlon and Ross

The awful cloud of the whole Jade thing though, had a silver lining. Two in fact. First of all we love the revisiting of April and Ross’s relationship. They have a sweet, quirky bond that really works.

And secondly, how good was Marlon and April’s chat about Donna? It’s nice to see them together and their relationship changing as April grows up. Plus it’s always good when soaps show the long-lasting effects of grief – just as Emmerdale is doing with Moira and Holly.

    Emmerdale review: Caleb and Ruby
Caleb’s not listening to Ruby (Credit: ITYV)

Rubbish husbands in our Emmerdale review

Marlon’s a treasure, but elsewhere in Emmerdale, the husbands are definitely lacking. They’re all just useless! Cain’s moping about feeling sorry for himself after he *checks notes* slept with his sister-in-law. Poor lamb.

Caleb’s busy ignoring wife Ruby’s obvious distress about her dad’s presence and not even asking her what’s up.

Mack’s playing Disney dad but being a right wally about it (and frankly, he deserved that punch from Ross, and the slap from Jade’s henchwoman). Eric’s lost Brenda’s life savings… the men of Emmerdale aren’t covering themselves in glory, are they?

    Forgotten characters

Mary’s back! Yay! And even Ivy got a mention this week. We find it really frustrating how characters vanish for weeks at a time in Emmerdale. Now, if we could just find Rhona…

Things that didn’t make sense in Emmerdale this week

There were a few things that left us scratching our heads this week, so we thought we’d lump them all together.

First of all, how quiet was that multi-storey carpark, in the middle of Hotten, three weeks before Christmas? The only cars parked in the whole place belonged to Jade, Billy and Aaron. There were no people around. No office workers, no Christmas shoppers. No one saw a thing. What luck,

Elsewhere, we were bemused by Moira’s very sweet memories of Holly leaving notes for the fairies in the bottom of a tree trunk. Except Holly was about 16 or more when the Bartons first came to Emmerdale.

But we didn’t spend too long wondering about that because we were very distracted by Moira arriving home with a toss of her luscious locks. Which, though enviable, seemed slightly out of keeping for someone who’s just had major brain surgery.

How did the surgeons at Hotten General manage to get inside Moira’s noggin without so much as harming a hair on her head? Impressive work!

Brenda will ‘go off into the sunset’ with Anthony, new fan theory predicts

A new Emmerdale fan theory has predicted that Brenda will leave the village with Anthony now she has split up from Eric Pollard. This follows the events of last night’s episode, in which Brenda ended things with Eric.

Unable to forgive his deception – nor his foolishness – Brenda dumped a heartbroken Pollard. Meanwhile, Anthony considered leaving the village after it became apparent that Ruby has no intention of forgiving him.

One soap viewer has put two and two together to question whether Brenda might meet Anthony at the B&B – and decide to leave the village with her new man.

Emmerdale fan theory predicts Brenda and Anthony to run off together

Writing on X as the scenes aired last night, one fan laid out their theory as to what Brenda might do now she’s a single woman.

“Brenda is going to move into B&B – where she will get close to Anthony and they will both go off into the sunset!! That will be her leaving storyline,” they wrote.

“Totally paving the way for Brenda’s upcoming exit sadly…” said another viewer of Eric and Brenda’s split.

Could Brenda move on to a new man, post-Pollard? Anything is possible, given rumours that actor Lesley Dunlop is set to leave the soap later this year.

Anthony and his family talk on Emmerdale

    What is Anthony hiding?

Meanwhile, Ruby has continued to resist a reconciliation with dad Anthony. Earlier this week, Steph attempted to force the issue with an impromptu family gathering.

Ruby appeared to let bygones be bygones, but suffered a panic attack outside. The next day, she left Steph appalled after telling Caleb how she couldn’t care less if her dad died.

This has left some fans wondering whether there might be more to the situation than meets the eye – including theories of abuse, long-buried family secrets, and the particularly dark suggestion that Steph may, in fact, be Anthony’s daughter.

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: April found out the truth about her mum’s death and there was a sad break-up

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: April found out the truth about her mum’s death and there was a sad break-up

In Emmerdale tonight there was devastation for April after she was kidnapped, held over the roof of a multistory carpark and then found out the truth about her mum’s death.

Also, Ruby was faced with an impossible choice, and Brenda realised she had no future with Eric.

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday December 5.

Things got really bad for Ross and April

    April was kidnapped

Marlon wouldn’t let April go into Hotten after school shopping. Lucky, then, that Jade pulled up to provide a lift to school and a friendly listening ear.

Jade then called Ross with a video of April tied up in the boot of the car. Ross sped off in Billy’s car who warned him he couldn’t go anywhere without a plan. Billy caught up with Mack and Aaron and told them what was going on and Mack came to his senses and realised exactly what his actions have caused.

    Memories of Donna haunted Ross

As Ross arrived at the multistory carpark where Donna died when she jumped over the edge while handcuffed to a criminal, Jade told Ross she had specifically picked the spot because of Donna and he had horrific flashbacks.

April screamed as she was held over the edge by Jade’s henchman. But Ross was frozen to the spot.

Coming to, Ross tried to talk Jade round, but she was clear: the money in exchange for April’s life.

And then along came Aaron and Mackenzie who saved the day by giving Jade her money back. Well, £7000 and change. Which obviously isn’t the £10k she wanted and she still wants Ross to pay it back. Jade is going away for a few days, but wants her £3k.

April found out the truth about her mum

Ross took April and left, but he made the mistake of saying he wasn’t going to let it happen again. April immediately picked up on it and confronted him.

He confessed he had been there when Donna died. He then told April her mum had jumped over the wall and April was devastated. She knew Donna could have stayed with her for longer, but she sacrificed their time together to catch a criminal.

At home Marlon tried to get through to April, who was sobbing, but she didn’t tell him what was really wrong.

Meanwhile, Ross gave Mackenzie a beating. And when Charity stepped in, he pushed her over too. And then Ross ended up being the bad guy when Moses was watching and begged his dad to stop. Charity told Ross he would never see his son again.

Ruby given a choice in Emmerdale tonight

Ruby was still trying to tell Caleb how distressed she is by her dad’s presence. She begged him to stand by her side and understand what she needs. Caleb promised he would. He then confronted Anthony in the street and told him he would always back Ruby, so Anthony decided to leave again. Only Steph caught him and stopped him. She decided to go with him and he promised to stay one more night so she could pack up.

Meanwhile Caleb realised that Anthony’s departure would affect their relationship with Steph. So he tried to talk to Ruby again. And she cracked open another bottle of wine. As she ranted about how much she hated her father and she didn’t care if he died, Steph walked in and told her they would never see her again if they cut Anthony out.

Caleb was furious that Ruby was ‘choosing’ to let Steph walk out of their lives. Ruby insisted she wasn’t choosing, this was not a choice, she couldn’t have her dad in her life. And Caleb still clearly couldn’t see how distressed she was and told her she had to accept Anthony so they could keep Steph. Here’s an idea, Caleb, trying realising your wife is going through something huge rather than shouting at her.

A break-up for Eric and Brenda in Emmerdale tonight

Eric and Brenda were very awkward with each other, but he thought flowers would make it up to her. She was not impressed given they didn’t have money for flowers.

He then set up Champagne and a huge food spread in the shop and invited Brenda over. Eric got down on knee again and promised he wasn’t being impulsive, he genuinely wanted her to marry him.

Liam walked in mid-proposal to get some milk and the situation became very uncomfortable. Once Liam had gone, Brenda tearfully told him her answer was no.

Brenda said she needed to find out who she was again. She then ended their relationship because too much has happened. Is there any way back for them?

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

    Angelica fought Tom’s corner

Tom sent Jimmy a letter, who put it in the bin much to Angelica’s disgust. Jimmy and Nicola tried to talk some sense into her, but Angelica continued to fight Tom’s corner insisting Tom is still family.

Angelica seemed to think Tom wasn’t as bad as her because she killed someone and he never killed Belle. Can her parents make her see sense?

Jai was unsuccessful at manifesting success

Jai was listening to success podcasts and manifesting ‘success’ for himself. But he found Ross lurking in the office having overheard him. Ross wanted to do another van theft. But Jai – with success clearly in mind – said no.

Emmerdale spoilers: Brenda thinks Pollard is cheating – with Kerry

In Emmerdale spoilers for Monday December 16 to Friday December 20 Brenda Walker gets the wrong end of the stick about Eric Pollard’s relationship with Kerry Wyatt.

And with their relationship already in tatters is this the straw that will break the camel’s back?

Kerry helps Pollard in Emmerdale spoilers

The village all knows Eric has Parkinson’s disease. It can make performing daily tasks sometimes difficult.

When Kerry notices Pollard is struggling with his housework, she steps in to help. They head upstairs to get their clean on, but then Brenda comes home.

She arrives with leftover food, but when she hears them upstairs, she thinks the noises are something else entirely. Confused and heartbroken, can Brenda ever really trust Eric again?

Brenda and Eric are falling apart

It’s not been a good time for the couple recently. Eric couldn’t get hold of his usual medication and his new medication made him act impulsively. However neither realised that could be a side effect of what he’s been taking.

Eric proposed to Brenda and then splashed the cash on a lavish engagement party, plus a honeymoon cruise around the world. Brenda was particularly delighted when she realised they’d be stopping in Canada to see her granddaughter Molly.

However, behind the scenes Eric had invested all of his life-savings in cryptocurrency. When he thought he was on to a winner, he took Brenda’s life savings too and blew the lot.

Then the financial advisor’s phone number went dead, both Eric’s and Brenda’s accounts were completely empty and Eric realised he’d been scammed. The police said they couldn’t do anything as Pollard had invested the money willingly.

Brenda said she couldn’t ever get over it, especially when she realised he only proposed because of the influence of the meds. But she then vowed to stand by him, although later admitted to Bob she was only staying because Pollard is ill and couldn’t cope alone.

So will this latest turn of events be enough to make Brenda realise she’s can’t stay? We know actress Lesley Dunlop who plays Brenda is leaving, so will this be the thing that drives her away from Emmerdale?

  • Emmerdale viewers point out plot holes in Eric’s scam storyline: ‘This would have been flagged’

Emmerdale viewers point out plot holes in Eric’s scam storyline: ‘This would have been flagged’

Viewers have slammed the current Emmerdale Eric storyline as being “unrealistic”, as he lost all of his and Brenda’s money.

For a while, Pollard has struggled as his usual Parkinson’s medication has not been available. So, his behaviour has been quite erratic.

In the time he’s been on new meds, he has proposed to Brenda, booked them a honeymoon cruise and succeeded to lose everything.

    Eric’s cryptocurrency scam

Last night, Brenda struggled to see a future with Eric after finding out he invested her savings into a cryptocurrency scam – and lost everything.

When Jacob heard the news, he suggested the only way forward could be to sell the shop. At first, Eric was horrified at the thought, but he quickly realised it might be the way to keep Brenda.

Eric was adamant the money would still appear, believing it to be a huge misunderstanding. But when he tried to phone the guy in charge, he was heartbroken to hear the number was no longer in service.

As reality began to sink in that he had made a huge mistake, Jacob encouraged him to phone the police. But Brenda informed them she already had. And because the money was invested willingly, there was nothing they could do.

Fans react to Emmerdale Eric storyline

Viewers slammed this as “unrealistic” as banks would still try to help as much as they possibly can. Especially for Brenda, as she was not the one who transferred her own money.

One wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “In reality the banks would be liable for Eric’s situation. Unusual activity and large amounts would have been flagged and stopped.”

Another added: “There are places that could help, even just a little bit. Eric should listen to the ads on the radio. If you have been scammed more than £3K then they can help.”

“If you are scammed in any way, even if you think you made the choice willingly and cannot be helped, you should absolutely contact your bank and the police. That’s a ridiculously irresponsible take to allow go unquestioned in a narrative,” an annoyed third fan penned.

Another pointed out it might not have been of his own free will as he was under the influence of medication: “I was yelling at the TV last night for Liam to say to Brenda to tell the police about his Parkinson’s and meds and lack of judgement – surely that would then get his money back as wasn’t his free will (as such) like the police said?”

  • Is Brenda and Eric’s wedding off? Here’s everything we know about their fate following cryptocurrency scam

Is Brenda and Eric’s wedding off? Here’s everything we know about their fate following cryptocurrency scam

Eric Pollard has lost everything in Emmerdale – all his money, all of Brenda Walker‘s money, and now it looks like he’s about to lose Brenda, too.

But is it really over for the cute couple? Is their Christmas wedding definitely off?

It’s definitely not looking good. Here’s everything we know.

Brenda and Eric’s wedding is on in Emmerdale

Eric was baffled when the increase in his investment wasn’t showing on his cryptocurrency account. He tried to speak to his finance advisor about it but got cut off – and that’s when Eric started to worry.

Elsewhere, Brenda had found the perfect wedding dress, but when she went to pay her card was declined. Eric told her it was a technical problem at the bank and fibbed that he’d spoken to someone about it.

But of course he was lying – he’d invested everything he had, and everything Brenda had, too, in the cryptocurrency scam.

In desperation he turned to the racing pages of the newspaper, hoping to win back the money he’d lost, when he was interrupted by Liam who clocked him taking cash from the till.

Worried Liam warned him that a rare side effect of his new medication was that it could make him act recklessly.

Backed into a corner, Eric confessed that he’d lost the cash, and had secured a loan on his house. Liam begged him to come off the medication, but Pollard insisted he was going to the bookies and threatened to call the police!

    The wedding’s off!

Back home, Eric returned triumphant with Brenda’s wedding dress all bought and paid for. But it turned out Liam had spoken to Brenda and explained what her husband was up to. And she’d had a chat with the bank and found out the truth about what had happened to her savings.

A clearly devastated Brenda asked her fiancé what he was thinking, blowing her life savings. Eric tried to get round her by showing her his winnings because his horse had come in. But Brenda wasn’t listening. She told Eric his betrayal was so deep, she couldn’t get over it!

The wedding’s off but the couple are on!

Except she did! By today’s episode, Brenda was telling Eric that they were in it together. Though Eric was still convinced his money troubles were all just a big misunderstanding.

But later, a shocked and upset Eric told Brenda and Jacob that the number for his account manager was no longer in service and finally accepted he’d been scammed. And Brenda revealed that she’d already called the police who’d said there was nothing they could do.

Brenda had a chat with Liam, who told her he was convinced it was all a side effect of Pollard’s medication. But it’s too late now. “He’s ruined us,” she said. “Financially we’re sunk.”

But Liam assured her what Eric needed was her love and support. It looked bleak, though, when Brenda asked him what she needed.

And when she saw Eric in the street, she pointed out that he owned the house and everything she’d worked for was gone. Jacob suggested to his horrified grandfather that the only way to pay back Brenda’s money was to sell the shop.

So that’s exactly what he promised to do.

    Eric looks shocked

    Brenda and Eric are off!

But Brenda had something else on her mind. She’d realised Eric was on his new meds when he proposed and she wanted to know if he meant it.

He admitted that he’d never intended to marry again, devastating poor Brenda, who assumed all the lovely things he’d said when he proposed were lies.

Later though, Eric told her he meant every word. He told her he didn’t mind if they got married or not, but said he didn’t know what he would do if Brenda ever left him.

    Brenda chats to Eric seriously?
    Will Brenda forgive Eric?

Brenda and Eric are on in Emmerdale – or are they?!

But then – hooray – Brenda assured him she wasn’t going anywhere.

And this makes us nervous! Because it’s been reported that actress Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda, is leaving her role after 16 years as Ms Walker.

So does this mean the wedding’s off or on? We’re really not sure now!
