In Emmerdale Cain continues to be public enemy number one after the revelation that he and Ruby slept together. But it seems fans are getting sick of the way he’s treated.
The limo lake crash was an extremely dramatic and heartbreaking week in the Dales. And one huge secret that came out, was Cain and Ruby’s one night stand (we all hoped it was just going to disappear).
But it’s not just Moira and Caleb who are upset with Cain, it seems to be the entire village. And fans can’t help but feel sorry for him.

Emmerdale villagers turn on Cain
After the secret came out, Kyle turned on his dad, Matty (who is grieving Amy) tried to force Moira to leave him, and everyone else in the village seems to have something to say about it.
But in reality, it is by no means the first time someone has cheated in the village. Doing it while Moira was having brain surgery may have been the worst aspect of it, but just when it seemed fans were calling for Cain to face revenge, now they are back on his side.
Not only is his son not wanting him around, but his brother also tried to set him up for a murder that he actually had nothing to do with. And viewers have pointed out that everyone seems to be forgetting their own history in the village.
While Moira and Cain (Coira) have been a fan-favourite couple for years, it isn’t the first time they have been hit by a cheating scandal. And last time, it was a full blown affair between Moira and Cain’s son Nate – and his body is currently sinking in the lake.

Fans defend Cain
Taking to a reddit thread one fan wrote: “I know he was wrong to cheat on Moira. But come on, does he really deserve to be boycotted by his family or be constantly shamed for it? I’m at the point of rooting for him to frame Caleb for Anthony’s murder.”
Another agreed: “I think the Moira and Nate storyline was way worse than this. I hope it will all blow over in a few weeks. And I still love Cain.”
A third simply wrote: “They are all hypocrites. So many of them have had affairs and he had a one-night stand.”
Another penned: “They really are enjoying hating on him, aren’t they? As if Moira didn’t run around of him with his own son for months.”
An angry viewer commented: “Moira I understand because it happened while she was having life threatening surgery. But we all know she will get over it eventually. But as for Caleb, he has slept with his nephew’s wife. So he can get off his high horse.”

Fans of Emmerdale have slammed the hypocrisy of Moira Dingle and Caleb Miligan in their continued treatment of disgraced love rat Cain. Last week’s episodes saw Cain tell Ruby about his fling with Ruby while Caleb plotted to bring down his brother.
Since then, Cain has been in the doghouse with both Moira and Caleb. And, with Kyle learning about the affair too (thanks to Mack’s big mouth), he’s persona non grata among most of his family at the moment.
What Cain did was terrible, of course (no-one’s trying to defend a man cheating on his wife while she’s undergoing brain surgery!) but many have found the behaviour of Caleb and Moira to be a bit hypocritical.

Emmerdale fans defend Cain amid hypocrisy of Caleb and Moira
Writing on social media, fans shared a reminder of Caleb and Moira’s own history of unfaithfulness.
“I think the Moria and Nate storyline was way worse tbh! Your wife having a long affair with your son??” wrote one fan – recalling how Moira had an affair of her own with Nate, back when he joined the village in 2019.
“Ruby and Cain happened once, Moira had an ongoing affair with HER HUSBANDS SON, Caleb had an ongoing affair with his NEPHEWS WIFE!!!” said another, referencing Caleb’s own affair with Nate’s wife, Tracy.

A history of cheating in Emmerdale
And Moira and Caleb aren’t the only ones. Who among the Dingle clan is able to claim innocence, when it comes to cheating?
“Half of them didn’t have a leg to stand on whilst they’re all shouting at Cain. Caleb has had multiple affairs and flings. Mackenzie fathered a child with Chloe. Mandy cheated on Paddy and Paddy has cheated on his wives Rhona and Emily,” a third pointed out.
“Such a pack of hypocrites. So many of them have had numerous affairs,” a fourth said.

Is Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale as Cain Dingle after 25 years? Fans have been concerned lately that the iconic Dingle bad boy is heading for an exit.
Joining Emmerdale way back in 2000, Jeff is celebrating his 25th year on the soap. Despite taking a few years away from 2006 – 2009, he has been a constant in the village.
But as his current storyline has Cain tangled up in Anthony’s murder cover-up and his marriage heading downwards. So now fans are worried we’re going to lose him on our screens. But is this the case? Here is everything we know about Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale as Cain.

Is Jeff Hordley leaving Emmerdale as Cain?
As of this current moment (February 26) there is no official confirmation that Jeff is leaving the Dales. And there is also no reports that suggest otherwise. So it looks like fan concerns can be put to rest.
Jeff himself recently appeared on This Morning to talk about the huge limo crash that claimed the lives of three loved characters. And in the interview, he admitted it’s “been a wonderful ride”.
Speaking about his years on the soap, Jeff said: “I remember joining for two years. Then two years turned into six years. I took a little break then I came back.
“But it’s been a wonderful ride and I’m really proud to still be here to be honest. Especially with all of these characters who are going.”
Looking at his character’s story arc’s over the years, Jeff agreed that Cain “isn’t boring”, adding that “he’s not someone who would go to the cafe to order a cup of tea”.

Why are fans convinced Cain will leave?
A few months ago, while Moira was in brain surgery, Cain had a one night stand with Ruby. And while we all tried to block it from our memories, the truth has just come out.
Then on top of that Caleb tried to frame Cain for Anthony’s murder – which didn’t work out for him. But as the brothers continue to be against each other, fans are worried Caleb may do something sinister to Cain.

Cain Dingle waved goodbye to the village in Classic Emmerdale episodes that aired this week. He headed off into the sunset with a huge pile of stolen cash, having betrayed Sadie King and broken daughter Debbie’s heart.
Cain had been in Emmerdale since 2000, but he left at the end of 2006 and didn’t return for three years.
Here’s the lowdown on why he left – and when he returned.

Cain’s early days in Emmerdale
On-screen things weren’t going well for Cain Dingle by 2006. He’d come to Emmerdale for his cousin Butch’s funeral but quickly became part of the furniture in the village.
But after his ill-fated affair with Angie Reynolds things took a turn. He spiralled downwards, despite getting to know his teenage daughter Debbie.
Some of his bad behaviour included seducing Debbie’s teenage girlfriend Jasmine, seducing Angie’s teenage daughter Ollie, and getting involved with ice queen Sadie King.

Cain and Sadie
It was his involvement with Sadie that led to Cain leaving Emmerdale, seemingly for good.
The Kings had big plans to expand their business empire, with a new housing development called Kings River. But Sadie wanted it to fail so she paid Cain to damage the show home with a JCB.
With time tight before the launch, the Kings cut corners. And that meant as the show home was opened with a fanfare, the house exploded! Dawn Woods, Noreen Bell and an estate agent were killed.
The Kings covered it all up, but Cain and Sadie wanted revenge.
But Tom was suspicious and convinced – rightly – that Sadie was in on it. So Cain shot Sadie and killed her!
The money was handed over, and Tom was rescued. But there was no sign of dead Sadie. It had all been clever hoax! She turned up at an airfield ready to meet Cain and make their escape – but Cain had something else up his sleeve.
He was holding a grudge against Sadie because she had paid for Jasmine to abort Cain’s baby. And in revenge he took all the money and abandoned Sadie on the runway. As Cain flew over the village, the Dingles watched from the ground, convinced they’d never see him again!

Cain’s return
But in 2009, Cain returned to help daughter Debbie, who’d been accused of murdering crooked copper Shane Doyle.
He helped Debbie get off, and to win custody of her daughter Sarah from her violent ex, Andy Sugden.
And he came back to the village for good. He went on to marry Moira, have two more kids, discover the son he didn’t know he had in Nate, and generally become one of soap’s most iconic bad boys!

Why did Jeff Hordley AKA Cain leave Emmerdale?
Actor Jeff Hordley quit Emmerdale in 2006 to dip his toes into other projects – particularly theatre work.
“From 2000 until 2006, I’d only been four years out of drama school. I hadn’t ticked all of the boxes that I wanted to tick,” he told Mik Artistik’s Ego Podcast in 2021. “There were a couple of places where I wanted to work in London. I wanted to fulfil those things. So for three years, I did that.”
Cain leaves Emmerdale: Jeff and Zoe’s family life
And it wasn’t just his desire to try his hand at other roles that led to him having three years away from Emmerdale.
Jeff is married to co-star Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona in Emmerdale. They have two children – Stan and Violet – who were very small at the time.
“Zoe looked after our daughter for a few years and had stopped working. We always said whoever got the biggest job – when I left Emmerdale, if she got the bigger job then I would look after the children,” Jeff explained on the podcast. “Sure enough that happened. Zoe ended up being in Coronation Street for a year and I stayed back and looked after the kids for about a year as well.”
Thankfully with Jeff and Zoe’s kids now much older and them both working at Emmerdale, it seems Cain’s not going anywhere – for now at least!

A new Emmerdale fan theory has suggested that Cain Dingle will be the one to tell Steph about Anthony’s abuse of Ruby. This comes as last night Steph demanded answers from her family – confused as to why Cain was the one making threats when he was the guilty party.
What she doesn’t know is that her dear old ‘granddad’ is dead – murdered by Ruby after years of sexual abuse. She also doesn’t know that Anthony is her biological father, as confirmed by a paternity test earlier this year.
This is all bound to come out sooner rather than later – especially given Steph’s relentlessness in pursuing the truth. Caleb and Steph tried to tell her that Anthony had beat his daughter as a teenager, but that’s barely cutting it.
And one fan thinks that Steph will get her answers soon enough – from Cain Dingle, no less.

Cain to tell Steph the truth about Anthony, Emmerdale fan predicts
Writing on a Reddit thread, one fan suggested that Cain could be the one to tell Steph the truth about Anthony.
“I think Cain is going to be the one who tells Steph the truth about Anthony raping her mother and his role her conception.” this fan shared.
Elsewhere, others debated Steph’s behaviour in the episode, with one viewer writing: “Is it me or every scene now consists of her walking into a room, throwing an insult and walking out only to return to the next scene where she does the same thing just in a different location?”
“It makes me wonder why she continues to stay there. It’s not as though she grew up here or has lifelong friends. It seems she wants to stay to snark at her parents and punish them for grandad leaving,” said another.
“She’s an annoying character. They need to give her more purpose than this,” a third commented.
When will Steph find out the truth?

Cain and Moira are over in Emmerdale spoilers for next week after she calls time on their marriage. Unable to get past her husband’s fling with Ruby, Moira orders Cain to move out of the family home. Is it really the end of the road for Coira?
Emmerdale: Cain and Moira are in crisis
Emmerdale’s once-solid couple have weathered some brutal storms during their 11 year marriage. But Cain committed the cruelest of betrayals when he slept with Ruby while Moira was undergoing life-saving surgery to remove a brain tumour. It was a moment of pure madness, which Cain and Ruby immediately regretted, but the damage was done.
Since then Cain has wrestled with his guilt, but decided not to confess while Moira was undergoing radiotherapy. In the end, it was Ruby’s father Anthony who exposed the forbidden liaison to Caleb. Then all hell broke loose.
With Caleb on the warpath, Cain knew he had no other choice but to tell Moira the truth. He confessed he’d been unfaithful and Moira looked as if her heart had been ripped out. For a while it looked as if the couple might have been able to work it out, but now it seems there’s no going back.

Moira calls time on her marriage to Cain
Moira doesn’t want to carry on living under the same roof as Cain and asks him to move out. He’s crushed to realise what she’s actually saying is that their marriage is finished – for good!
Cain and Moira are both quietly devastated as the breakdown of their relationship suddenly becomes a reality. But amongst the deep sadness is a glimmer of light when Moira is told by the doctors her cancer has gone and she’s in remission.
Later, the exes prepare to tell Kyle and Isaac about their break-up. But how will their sons take the news? Kyle is still deep in grief over the death of his mum Amy. Will the discovery of his family splitting up send him over the edge? And can Cain find a way to fix the mess he’s created?

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale saw a fuming Cain Dingle issue a death threat to Caleb after clashing with his brother in the Woolpack. Tensions between the pair have been at an all-time low since Caleb twigged that Cain slept with his wife, and he even tried to frame Cain for Anthony’s murder.
With his marriage to Moira on the rocks, Cain has been in no mood for Caleb and the brothers shared words in the pub.
Desperate to contain their argument, Chas ushered them all into the back room, where Cain revealed what his brother had tried to do.
As they continued to bicker, Cain issued Caleb a menacing threat.
“Just so you know, if you try anything like that again and I’m willing to do time – a long time. Because you’ll be joining Anthony,” he snarled, as the end credits rolled.
But could Cain really kill Caleb?

Cain to kill Caleb as feud intensifies?
While it seems unlikely that Cain would murder Caleb, lest we forget, there’s the matter of that flashforward still pending. At the start of the year, a series of flashforwards teased what was to come – the ice crash, the disposal of a body… Caleb flatlining on a hospital table, and Cain weeping over a mystery grave.
With tensions between the brothers unlikely to ease anytime soon, Caleb may still seek revenge on Cain. And, with Cain determined to keep his family safe at all costs, he may well strike out in an attempt to save his own skin.
But what happens next on Emmerdale? Here are our spoilers for the rest of the week.

In Emmerdale tonight, the villagers came together for a vigil held by Charles to mourn Leyla, Suzy and Amy.
Elsewhere, Cain Dingle threatened Caleb over attempting to set him up.
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight (Monday, February 24).
Charles organised a vigil (Credit: ITV)
The villagers attended a vigil
Charles organised a vigil to mourn those who lost their lives in the limo crash.
Vanessa decided not to attend, telling Mary: “I don’t want to go and have people telling me how much they miss her because I miss her. I miss her so much.” Mary attended on Vanessa’s behalf. Later, she took a photo of Suzy from the fridge as she hid her true feelings for Suzy.
Meanwhile, Matty gave Victoria a bracelet that Amy had been wearing, while Jacob Gallagher was touched that Liam had come to support him.
But things took a turn for the worse when Noah turned up. Probably wasn’t the wisest decision he’s ever made.
Jacob immediately went on the attack, telling him: “You’ve got balls, turning up to the vigil of the people you killed.”
Jacob refuses to believe the crash was an accident and also took his frustration out on Sarah. When she asked if the pair of them were OK, he responded: “Stop protecting your family, and we’ll be alright.Do not say he was spiked. He was off his head and that caused your gran to crash. If you want to know the truth, they’re both to blame.”

Charity tried to discover the truth
While in hospital, doctors revealed that Noah had drugs in his system and was likely spiked. But with Noah unable to remember anything, Charity has been trying to piece things together.
Tonight she asked Belle to help her find Jacob’s friend Rich, who Charity believed to be responsible for spiking Noah.
Charity turned up at The Hide where Belle had arranged to meet Rich. Rich was angry about being blindsided like that and insisted he was innocent.
He said he wouldn’t spike anyone, and added: “I’m a medical student who saves people. I don’t hurt them.”
He also listed his phone number and address, telling Charity she was welcome to give them to the police as he had nothing to hide. Once he left, Belle told Charity that she believed him, leaving Charity back at square one.

Everyone hated Cain in Emmerdale tonight
Moira and Cain continued to bicker. Moira gave him the cold shoulder, while making digs about his ‘sordid little secret.’
Kyle was also angry at his dad, telling him that he was supposed to be someone he could look up to. Probably wasn’t wise to have Cain as a role model, Kyle.
Caleb couldn’t hide his hatred for his brother either, though he has forgiven wife Ruby. When Ruby thanked Caleb for forgiving her, he said she has forgiven him for much worse. She said: “I always will,” before he said: “Remember that for next time.” Sounds ominous.
Aaron and John joined the other co-conspirators for a meeting (Credit: ITV)
The co-conspirators had a meeting
Aaron revealed to Cain that Caleb had tried to blackmail him into keeping quiet about setting Cain up. Cain later let slip to Steph about her dad’s ‘plan.’ However, when no details were forthcoming, Steph left after telling them all she was determined to find out what was going on.
With things looking like they were about to kick off, Chas insisted the six of them – her, Cain, Caleb, Ruby, Aaron and John – go into the back room of the pub.
Cain told them all that Caleb tried to frame him up for Anthony’s death and then blackmailed Aaron. Cain then issued a threat of his own and told Caleb that if he tried anything like that again, he’d be happy to serve time because Caleb would be joining Anthony.
Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight
Manpreet acted coy after receiving some messages. When questioned about it, she told Paddy she couldn’t tell him because of client confidentiality. But who is she really messaging?

Cain Dingle leaves Emmerdale in Classic Emmerdale spoilers for episodes airing on ITV3 on Monday, February 24 – as his kidnapping of Tom and Sadie King finally comes to an action-packed end.
With the police on his tail, Cain takes action, shooting Sadie in a desperate double-bluff. And, as the Kings put together the ransom money, Cain stages his escape, double-crossing his partner in crime.
These episodes originally aired September 20 and 21 2006.

Cain is on the run in Classic Emmerdale spoilers
Tom infuriates Sadie by trying to bargain with Cain – telling him that he’ll name Sadie as the only kidnapper. Hearing a helicopter nearby, Cain panics and drives off with both of his hostages.
Back at Home Farm, tensions are fraught between the Dingles and the Kings. As they wait for news, Zak insists that Cain isn’t responsible for the kidnapping. Meanwhile, Matthew and Carl make arrangements to pay the ransom.
With Cain gone, Tom takes the opportunity to untie himself and Sadie. Sadie is unable to move her legs, and begs Tom not to leave her behind. Tom flags down an oncoming car – only to find himself staring down the barrel of Cain’s shotgun.
Having moved Tom and Sadie into a new car, Cain removes the BMW emblem and blows up the old one. As a police helicopter searches for Cain, DI Poulton gets a call about a burning car in a disused warehouse.
Sadie begs Cain to give himself up, but Cain refuses – telling her that he’s not finished with her just yet. Making a disguise from a hat and some glasses, Cain thinks he has the police fooled – but is annoyed when he sees a car coming after him.
Elsewhere, DS Jansen tells the Kings that they can pay the ransom, but have to tracking devices in the money cases.
The police corner Cain
With the police still in hot pursuit, Cain makes a quick U-turn and drives straight at the police car – which swerves out of the way to avoid a terrible crash. Meanwhile, the chopper spots Cain’s car. As he ploughs through a gate, he heads towards the flooded Miller’s Quarry.
A terrified Zak tells the police not to corner Cain in the quarry for fear he’ll drive in. DI Poulton tells the officers to hold off and wait for armed backup.
Realising that he is cornered, Cain tries to get Sadie and Tom out of the car. Sadie teases Cain, and he slams the boot shut with her still inside.
Looking into the quarry, Cain lobs the BMW emblem inside. As DI Poulton informs Carl that he has divers on standby should Cain do anything stupid, Cain’s car speeds off the quarry edge – crashing through the fence and into the water below.

Cain shoots Sadie in Classic Emmerdale spoilers
As the Dingles and the Kings react with shock, officers learn that the car was empty. Having stolen a police car and unfirm, Cain is now holding Sadie and Tom hostage in a shack.
While Tom and Sadie bicker, she tells Tom to give Cain the money. However, Tom snaps back, telling Cain to do his worst. As Cain prepares to shoot Tom, the old man micks him for not having the bottle to be a real killer. He tells Cain to shoot Sadie to prove himself.
Cain shoots Sadie in the stomach, and she falls to the ground. As Tom looks on in horror, Cain orders him to ring Chas.
As Carl and Chas argue in the office, she lashes out, hitting until he snaps. He grabs her shirt, almost punches her before bursting into tears. Over the phone, Tom tells Carl to deliver the money to Lundale. Cain then knocks Tom out with the gun.
Debbie tries to make her dad see sense
Chas and Carl put on a performative argument, in which Carl throws Chas out – while he hides the money. They then take the money from the case. Horrified to learn that Cain has killed Sadie, Chas and Debbie go to see Cain, behind Matthew’s back. Chas tells Debbie to wait behind while she delivers the money.
Giving him half the cash, Chas confronts Cain over Sadie’s murder. He’s appalled to see Debbie turn up, and she makes it clear that she’s hurt he chose Sadie over her. She begs him not to go – but he insists that he has to, and bids his daughter goodbye.
Matthew is furious to discover that Carl has given Chas the ransom money. Learning that Cain killed Sadie, he’s left heartbroken.
A woman tries to help Cain, delivering a package to Debbie containing some money. Meanwhile, Carl is pleased to see that Tom is alive in the shack – but there’s no sign of Sadie anywhere.
The police learn that Cain and Sadie staged her ‘death’ as they get into a car together. She phones Zak and the Dingles learn that Cain is not a killer after all. The family are thrilled to discover that Cain has escaped.
Cain double-crosses Sadie in Classic Emmerdale spoilers
Sadie apologises for lying to Cain. She tells him that it would never have worked out with Jasmine’s baby. She informs him that the plane she hijacked from Zoe last year is waiting to take them both away.
However, Cain double-crosses her. He tells her that he’s taking the money and leaving her behind. He admits that he wanted to kill Sadie – feeling guilt over Dawn’s death – and would end up murdering her at some point regardless.
Cain gives her the car and gets in the plane alone, leaving Sadie on the runway.
As downbeat Zak feels sad that he’ll never see Cain again, Debbie gets a voicemail from Cain informing her that he’s taken the money and ditched Sadie. The family watch as his plane flies past, taking him away from Emmerdale forever…

In Emmerdale, Moira has just found out that Cain cheated on her with his brother’s wife – Ruby Fox-Miligan.
It’s been a secret that Cain’s been keeping for months but after the limo crash… Cain confessed everything. And, unsurprisingly, it didn’t go down well with his wife.
But, despite Moira finding out about the fling, we’re desperate for the couple to work things through and not give up on each other.

Emmerdale: Moira found out Cain and Ruby fling truth
Last year, when Moira was undergoing surgery for her brain tumour, Cain was busy getting it on with his brother’s wife – Ruby.
Ruby had been triggered by seeing her dad Anthony rock up in the Dales, keeping the fact that he’d sexually abused her as a child a secret from her family.
Giving herself a distraction, she headed to the garage and ended up sleeping with Cain (and we won’t ever forgive them for it!)
This week, after Caleb found out about Cain’s fling with Ruby, a fight broke out as Caleb crashed a limo.
Cain then returned home all beaten up… and Moira obviously had some questions. He then sat her down and told her that he loved her before admitting to sleeping with Ruby.
Moira didn’t even want to be near Cain after this, asking him not to touch her. She was heartbroken. And, so were we!
Coira can’t go anywhere (Credit: ITV)
Opinion: Coira mustn’t split up
It’s not looking good for Cain and Moira (aka Coira) as Moira struggles to process Cain’s revelation. We completely understand Moira’s upset, we too were furious when we saw Cain and Ruby’s one-night stand on-screen.
But, Cain and Moira have been through worse, haven’t they? We admit it took a good while for Cain to forgive Moira for having an affair with Nate all those years ago, but he did in the end.
Moira’s cheated before. And, so has Cain. But, they always find a way back to each other. There’s not a stronger couple in the village than Cain and Moira. They’ve been through so much, it would be a real shame to throw everything away now.
And now that poor Amy has passed away, Kyle will need a stronger and stable home environment more than ever now. He’ll need Cain and Moira together. He’ll need them to give him all their support as a couple without anymore upheaval.
This cannot be the end of Cain and Moira… We won’t accept it! We won’t!
