Steph Miligan: Messy childhood, relationship with Caleb and why she fell out with her mum

Steph Miligan made her explosive entrance into Emmerdale last week, where she revealed she was only there because she knew her mum Ruby wasn’t.

Ruby and Caleb’s estranged daughter has been mentioned over the past months, but now we finally get to meet the mystery Miligan.

But what exactly is her back story and why did she fall out with her mum?

Who is Steph Miligan in Emmerdale?

Steph is the estranged daughter of Caleb Miligan and Ruby Fox-Miligan. She also has a brother, Nicky, who left the Dales earlier this year with boyfriend Suni.

Steph is described as, “smart, confident and completely reckless” and is said to share the “best and worst parts” of her parents with her “narcissistic need to win at all costs.”

Steph hadn’t seen her parents in over a decade, but it was recently revealed that she’d been in touch with her grandmother after Ruby’s mum Helen left everything in her will to Steph.

Speaking to Emmerdale Insider and other media about her character, actress Georgia Jay said: “She’s definitely not there to stay. It’s a kind of ‘come in, I want something, and I’m gonna leave’ kind of thing.

“She wants nothing to do with them [Ruby and Caleb]. She just wants to get the [inheritance] money and go.”

    Steph’s arrival in Emmerdale

Steph’s first appearance aired on Friday, November 15. While Jai had Caleb pinned against a pile of planks following the revelation that Caleb had conned him, Steph made a timely entrance.

She revealed to her father that she’d been in touch with Nicky. She had only came to visit while Ruby was staying with Nicky, so that she didn’t have to see her mum.

But it wasn’t necessarily good news for Caleb either, as Steph shared that she didn’t particularly want to see him either. She was just stopping to sort out her grandmother’s inheritance and then she’d be leaving again.

However, romance with Ross Barton appears to be on the cards, so perhaps she’ll be persuaded to stay longer.

Why did Steph fall out with Ruby?

It was previously shared that Steph was sent away to boarding school when she was a teenager and has suffered abandonment issues. Although both parents agreed to send Steph away, it was more Ruby’s decision.

In Monday’s episode (November 18), as Steph and Ruby shared a war of words, more was revealed about why Steph seems to hate her mum more than her dad.

As Ruby said she stands by the decision to send Steph away, Steph responded: “You couldn’t be bothered, mum, just own it.” With Ruby screaming back: “You stole a car! You were 14 and out of control. You try owning that!”

Steph explained to her mum that she was only acting up because she wanted attention. She said she was “desperate for someone to give a toss.” She expanded on her feelings of abandonment by explaining, “Other kids had mums. I had this cold-hearted fake that couldn’t stand to have me near her. Oh, Mummy’s busy. Mummy’s tried. Mummy’s got a headache.” Steph added that her mum was a “selfish [bleep].”

Steph hit a nerve with Ruby and promptly received a slap. But she wasn’t finished, as she told her mum: “I grew up thinking it was all my fault, that I must be really unlovable.” And on her experience at boarding school, Steph revealed: “I had no friends, was bullied, begged you to come home.”

Ruby remained in denial though and claimed she had no memory of that.

    Steph’s relationship with her dad

During a heart-to-heart with sister Chas, Caleb revealed that he and Steph had had a good relationship when she was young. He told Chas: “She was my little mate, you know? She was like my shadow. And I let her down. And this is why I never talk about her because it hurts so much. It’s easier to just pretend she didn’t exist.”

It was revealed that Steph had caught her dad with another woman and that resulted in her bad behaviour. Caleb blames himself for Steph’s resentment and told Chas that he wished he’d fought her corner more.

Speaking about Steph and Caleb, Georgia said: “She was much more of a daddy’s girl. I think growing up, being quite similar to Ruby, the clash was there and naturally Caleb and Steph had a very good relationship. And, when she went to boarding school, it was very much the decision of Ruby.”

So while Steph is more amicable with her father, it remains to be seen if there is any way to repair the damaged relationship with her mother.

Who plays Steph Miligan in Emmerdale?

Steph is played by Georgia Jay, also known as Georgina Philipps. Little is known about her life off-screen, but on-screen, Georgia is best known for her role as Dianne Vickers in BBC’s Giri/Haji.

She also has acting credits for historical drama Glow & Darkness and film The Devil Sits on Both Shoulders.

Speaking about joining Emmerdale, Georgia said: “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The cast and crew have all been so welcoming and I’m very excited to see what lies ahead for Steph, given her intriguing backstory.”

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Ruby slapped Steph and Caleb made a confession to Chas

Emmerdale tonight saw Ruby come face to face with her daughter Steph for the first time in years, but it wasn’t a happy family reunion.

Elsewhere, Caleb opened up to Chas over his guilt about Steph, and Tom continued to rub the Dingles up the wrong way.

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Monday, November 18.

Emmerdale: Ruby starting guiltily at an injured Steph

    Ruby and Steph came face-to-face

Caleb invited Steph over to the house for breakfast. Things got more frosty once Ruby arrived home, earlier than expected. Caleb left the two women to talk – but that perhaps wasn’t the wisest decision.

Ruby and Steph both went on the attack, with Steph revealing that she had been in touch with her grandma a lot and the reason she left her all the money instead of Ruby was because of Ruby’s “histrionics.”

As they got onto the real issue – Steph being sent away to boarding school when she was a teen, Ruby insisted it had been the right decision. Steph felt differently, however, and responded: “You couldn’t be bothered, mum. Just own it.” Ruby shot back: “You stole a car! You were 14 and out of control. You try owning that!”

Steph wouldn’t take this lying down though and claimed she was just acting out as she was “desperate for someone to give a toss.” She really dug deep in an attempt to hurt Ruby, as she told her: “Other kids had mums. I had this cold-hearted fake that couldn’t stand to have me near her. Oh, Mummy’s busy. Mummy’s tried. Mummy’s got a headache.”

After being called a “selfish [bleep]”, Ruby snapped and slapped her daughter. Doesn’t seem the best way to make amends…

    Steph met Ross

In Emmerdale tonight, after leaving her mum, Steph was shown on the phone, where she told the mystery caller that her mum had totally lost it. She then sighed and said: “Yes, I know what’s at stake.” Is she just talking about the inheritance, or is she up to something else?

We then saw Steph having a drink with Ross Barton in The Hide. After opening up to him, he cheekily told her he is an “expert on women… with estrangement issues.”

Despite not even knowing each other’s names, Steph took Ross back to the B&B.

Caleb unburdened on Chas in Emmerdale tonight

After leaving Ruby and Steph to slang it out, Caleb visited half-sister Chas, who was shocked to discover she had a niece that Caleb had never mentioned.

Caleb sadly told Chas: “She was my little mate, you know? She was like my shadow. And I let her down. And this is why I never talk about her because it hurts so much. It’s easier to just pretend she didn’t exist.”

After Caleb told Chas about Steph stealing a car and trying to run away, Chas quipped: “Sounds pretty standard Dingle.” But Caleb was in no mood for jokes and he made the big revelation that Steph playing up was all because of him. “She caught me with this woman that I’d been seeing,” he said. Steph started playing up after Caleb had her lie to her mum, resulting in Ruby deciding to send her away to boarding school.

Later, Caleb reassured Ruby that they’d get their daughter back, but is Steph planning on sticking around?

Emmerdale tonight: Tom and Paddy talking outside

    Tom pushed Cain’s buttons

Mack called Paddy at the vets for someone to come and look at Moira’s prized bull. Much to Cain’s annoyance it was Tom who turned up.

Cain said “You’re not going anywhere near my cattle,” which sounds like a euphemism but isn’t. Cain then called Tom a smug git, which is pretty mild considering what Tom has put Cain’s sister Belle through.

However, Tom pointed out that the farm’s insurance wouldn’t pay out if they declined medical care, so Cain had to relent and let Tom see to the bull.

Later, Tom overheard Sam telling Cain that Samson was having a bit of trouble in prison. Tom being the cruel person that he is couldn’t resist another dig, and asked Cain if prison was a rite of passage for Dingle men. “Samson, Noah, even Kyle. Must be a bizarre kind of family that considers that normal,” he said, before adding: “Belle didn’t have a chance.”

Cain couldn’t resist pushing Tom to the ground, with Tom responding he’d add a new set of overalls to the vet bill – despite the fact that no damage had been done to the set he was wearing.

Sam warned Cain to be careful with Tom as they didn’t want to ruin the trial. They were interrupted by Moira, who arrived home early from her break. She accused Cain of struggling to cope without her – but with Moira’s operation booked in for this week, can he pull it back together and be there for her?

    Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight

Eric and Brenda decided to have an engagement party, and Eric surprised his fiancée by telling her they were going to have a Christmas wedding.

Meanwhile, following the big reveal that Caleb had conned Jai, he decided to offer him a job as a manager. Jai told him to stuff the “poxy job.” However, after a few choice words from Laurel, Jai started to reconsider.

3 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight as Eric stuns Brenda and Ruby gets violent

In Emmerdale spoilers for tonight (Monday, November 18), Ruby gets a shock when her and Caleb’s estranged daughter appears. But is everything good between the pair?

Elsewhere, amid his ongoing health problems, Eric gives a suggestion to Brenda that leaves her stunned.

All of this and more in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale.

    1. Steph shocks Ruby

The village is getting some new additions, as Ruby and Caleb’s estranged daughter Steph has made her appearance.

Someone who is shocked to see her however, is her mum, Ruby. After getting Caleb out of the way so they can have some mother-daughter time, Steph amazes her mum by announcing she was in contact with Helen.

Things heat up between the pair, as they seem to disagree on Steph’s upbringing. Ruby, convinced she gave her daughter a good childhood, can’t seem to understand Steph’s side. It comes to a blow when Ruby slaps Steph.

Steph doesn’t appear to want her mum’s apologies and instead storms out. When Caleb finds Ruby, she is evidently upset, trying to work out what Steph could mean.

He reassures her that in time Steph will come round, but it looks like Ruby could still be hiding something. What could it be?

Emmerdale spoilers: 2. Eric’s proposal to Brenda

Viewers have seen Eric Pollard’s health battle get progressively worse over the last few weeks.

Recent episodes have seen his Parkinson’s get so bad that he couldn’t get himself out of bed. In a turn of events, it was Caleb who came to his rescue.

But, despite his struggles, Eric tries to look to the future tonight. He suggests to Brenda that they should get married – at Christmas.

This is obviously very spontaneous for Brenda, as Christmas is only a month away. However, as Eric continues to keep his struggles a secret, it looks like he’s got no plans on changing that.

With Brenda’s exit looming, the question remains; will the couple get a happy ending? Or, will they be driven apart?

    3. Caleb offers Jai a job

Ruby isn’t the only parent dealing with Steph’s appearance, as Caleb is trying to adjust to having his daughter around too.

He admits to his sister, Chas Dingle, that he can’t face the possibility of losing Steph again. So he’s determined to do what he can to get her to stick around.

To satisfy his daughter, he offers Jai a proper job after all of his scheming. But it’s safe to say Jai doesn’t trust him and quickly turns him down.

When Laurel hears about it, she’s not pleased at all. She tries to convince Jai that he should put his ego to the side and take the offer.

Will Steph stick around? And what will come from Caleb’s offer to Jai?

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Pollard’s breaking our hearts, Tina’s boring and Steph’s arrived!

Emmerdale review of the week: Pollard’s breaking our hearts, Tina’s boring and Steph’s arrived!

This week’s Emmerdale review is a bit emotional, we’ve got to be honest. Not Piper levels of emotion, obvs, but we have found ourselves a little misty-eyed at points.

    Much to our surprise!

Here’s what set us off this week in our Emmerdale review.

Eric is annoyed at Caleb's new business
Eric was ever so cross with Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Eric’s ordeal

Yes, yes, we know that Eric Pollard is a grumpy git with a fondness for a scam and a general air of crossness but how sad was his plight in this week’s episodes? That’s why this Emmerdale review is so teary!

As we know, Eric was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a while ago, and though he’s been managing well, there have been signs that he is beginning to struggle.

His tremors have become more obvious, though he’s been trying to hide them, and this week he lost his temper when he couldn’t get an appointment at the doctor’s surgery.

He also lost his temper, more than once, with Caleb who launched his new business and sent lorries hurtling past Pollard’s house.

But that’s not what made us teary. What really stabbed us in the heart was seeing Eric, who was once so bold and bolshy, trapped in bed, begging for help.

Thankfully he eventually recovered enough to get outside and head off to find someone who could come to his aid.

Sadly for him, that someone turned out to be Caleb! Bickering all the way, Eric let him drive him to find Liam.

Pollard and Brenda in the pub
Pollard and Brenda are making wedding plans (Credit: ITV)

    Plucking our heartstrings!

All this drama resulted in Pollard realising he wanted to marry his long-term partner, Brenda. So he got down on one knee (admittedly with a bit of difficulty) and proposed. And Brenda said yes. And we found ourselves welling up at the sweet moment.

Chris Chittell has played Pollard since 1986, making him Emmerdale’s longest-serving cast member. Sometimes when actors have played the same role for a long time, it’s easy to take them for granted. But this week Chris reminded us just how good he is.

And a big thumbs up for Lesley Dunlop – his real-life wife and now on-screen fiancée – too. We know Brenda is leaving Emmerdale but we’re not sure how she’ll go. Will Eric go too? We do know that Pollard’s story won’t be easy to watch, but we are sure Chris and Lesley will do it proud.

At the end of his tether, Jai Sharma [CHRIS BISSON] demands back the money Caleb Miligan [WILL ASH] hid for him in an offshore account.
Caleb’s nicked all of Jai’s money but Laurel’s been shafted too (Credit: ITV)

Caleb v Jai in our Emmerdale review

Elsewhere in Emmerdale, things weren’t so interesting. We are not the biggest fans of a business-focused storyline at the best of times, and this whole thing with Caleb and Jai left us more than a little confused.

What exactly is Caleb’s business? Is it the haulage business? Or are there two haulage firms in Emmerdale now?

Why is Billy turning up at work wearing a suit? What is Kerry being paid to clean? We have a lot of questions, but we’re not that bothered about the answers, to be honest.

BUT saying all that, we are very pleased that Jai’s got his comeuppance. All that swaggering around and not playing fair over his divorce has finally come back to bite him, and we are very pleased.

Except, we wish he hadn’t shafted Laurel in the process, and we really wish it wasn’t Caleb who’d come out on top. Because he totally doesn’t deserve it either.

Steph's arrival will cause a stir in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Steph is wondering why her brother is a Geordie, just like we are (Credit: ITV)

Steph’s arrived in our Emmerdale review!

We’ve been desperate to meet Caleb and Ruby’s daughter, Steph. We really like Ruby now and we’re looking forward to getting to know more about her daughter, too.

Georgia Jay seems to be perfectly cast as Steph. She’s physically similar to Ruby, and she’s even got similar mannerisms.

And she’s also perfected Caleb’s steely stare which she greeted her long-lost dad with. Altogether she’s great.

One thing that puzzled us a tiny bit though – and let’s be honest, this isn’t the first time the Miligan family have left us scratching our heads in this respect – was Steph’s accent.

We’re not sure where she’s been but she is super-posh. More so than her southerner mum, who apparently grew up alongside her Mancunian dad. And quite where Geordie Nicky fits into this rich family tapestry of accents, we don’t know.

But so far, we like the look of Steph. And we can’t wait to find out more about her!

    Mandy and Tina fight
    YAWN (Credit: ITV)

    Tina’s a damp squib

We were SO excited that Tina Dingle was returning but so far, she’s not filling us with excitement.

We might be more interested if it turns out Vinny really does have some siblings he’s never met, but that’s only a maybe. Frankly there are more than enough Dingles in the village already!

Our heads were spinning with the speed of Vinny finding out the truth, falling out with Mandy, falling out with Tina, then forgiving Mandy, all in the space of four episodes.

Where will Tina go from here? We’re still willing to give this return a chance, because we loved Tina Mark 1 back in the 90s, but we need something exciting to happen really soon!

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Jai tried to kill Caleb, Steph arrived, Tom made more threats and there was a romantic proposal

Emmerdale tonight was packed full of the usual drama as Jai almost killed Caleb. And he would have done if Steph hadn’t arrived in the nick of time.

Meanwhile, Tom was making threats and there was a romantic proposal that broke our hearts a little bit.

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Friday November 15.

Jai lost everything in Emmerdale tonight

The penny finally dropped for Jai he'd been cheated (Credit: ITV)

    Jai found out the truth

After creeping round in the dark searching for evidence on what Caleb‘s really up to, Jai discovered an incriminating file.

Later on, the opening of the depot got going, but Jai stormed in and confronted Caleb in front of everyone. Caleb shot Jai down and revealed what had really happened – Jai had invested in the shell company, not the business Caleb Miligan International, which is the profitable one. The shell company is in the red and will never get out. Jai has lost everything.

We’re not ones to say we told you so, or cheer in the face of someone else’s misery, but Jai did deserve this, just a bit.

Also, after days of wondering, we finally know exactly what Caleb’s business is – a local solution to all your distribution needs. Because that’s just what the villagers need.

It was nearly goodbye for Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Jai tried to kill Caleb

Jai was still trying to get his money back, but Caleb insisted he had no way to prove anything. So Jai decided to fight back by trashing the place – and pinning Caleb up with a forklift truck, crushing him against some pallets

But his party was spoiled by an unexpected visitor who was filming the whole assault. Steph Miligan is here. She threatened Jai with the police and he insisted he was not giving up without a fight, before stalking off.

Later in the pub, Laurel found out Jai had tricked her out of her divorce settlement. Jai walked in and insisted he would do right by Laurel, but then launched at everyone else in the pub telling them he was better than them all. Nice.

Caleb’s daughter turned up in Emmerdale tonight

So why is Steph here? Well it’s certainly not for a happy family reunion when she admitted she was only there because she knew Ruby wasn’t.

Steph wants her inheritance and then she’s gone for good. Caleb begged her to stay, but it’s clear there’s a whole lot of family history to unpack here, and she is absolutely not over her messy childhood. So we reckon she’ll stick around for a bit…

On another note, she seems very posh – it’s an eclectic family mix, isn’t it the Miligans? Ruby is a southerner, Caleb is from Manchester and Nicky from Newcastle. We’d be lying if we said this won’t bother us a teeny tiny bit.

Tom played the hardman in Emmerdale tonight

After almost a week without Tom on our screens, he was back tonight whinging about being a victim. He wants to look that word up in the dictionary.

Tom has decided he is going back to work – whether anyone lets him or not. He won’t be bullied out of his job and they have no right to stop him working. Even though his bosses suspended him. Pretty sure they do have a right, but then again employment law isn’t our speciality.

Tom then confronted Paddy saying he wouldn’t be victimised (seriously does anyone have an Oxford English to hand?). He threatened to expose everything the vets has done wrong – cutting corners and letting the Dingles not pay their bills. Paddy had no choice but to give in.

Meanwhile, Jimmy tentatively broached the subject of Tom looking for his own place, but Tom emotionally manipulated him again and Jimmy backed down.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Brenda was thrilled with Pollard's proposal (Credit: ITV)
Brenda was thrilled with Pollard’s proposal (Credit: ITV)

    Pollard proposed!

Eric was back in the shop and Jimmy let it slip to Brenda that he’d been off ill all day the previous day. Pollard had to confess everything to Brenda. The new pills Liam has prescribed are making him sick so that’s why he took time off work.

They shared a tender moment and vowed to hang on to each other for the rest of their lives – which is foreshadowing that they don’t have long left together if ever we heard it, especially as we know Brenda is leaving one way or another.

Pollard was so grateful for Brenda that he got down on one knee and proposed. He told her he loved her with all his heart and she accepted. Happiness at last!

But why do Emmerdale do this? Set us up a happy couple for once all-the-while knowing one way or another Brenda and Pollard’s happiness will be ripped away. It’s a cruel trick, really and one we’re not too fond of.

    Mandy is forgiven! (Credit: ITV)

    Vinny and Mandy made up

Vinny still won’t talk to Mandy, so Lydia gave her some tough love and told her to put it right. So she took him a scrapbook of all his life, all her memories of him.

Mandy continued to beg for forgiveness and Vinny is clearly still struggling. But he admitted he gets why Mandy did it. And he told her he loved her, even calling her mum again. Aw!

Ruby Fox-Miligan star Beth Cordingly – her Emmerdale star partner, soap past and amazing charity work

Beth Cordingly joined Emmerdale as Caleb Milligan’s wife, Ruby, in January and she has certainly made her mark. And as she’s set to be thrust into the spotlight again in the coming weeks with the arrival of her estranged daughter and father, we’re going to see a whole lot more of Ruby Fox-Miligan before the year is out.

But while we know – and are definitely loving – Ruby, what about actress Beth?

Well, she’s a soap stalwart, who’s appeared in other long-running drama faves, and she is even dating a former Emmerdale heartthrob.

    Ruby in Emmerdale

Ruby swept into the village earlier this year described as a “force of nature” by show bosses – and she certainly is that! She is the on/off wife of Caleb and mum to Nicky and Steph Miligan. The latter we have only recently found out about and is due on screen next week.

Her marriage to Caleb is dysfunctional to say the least. They both cheat, lie and betray, but always find their way back to each other in the end. It’s sort of romantic, isn’t it?

Caleb’s most recent betrayal was not telling Ruby he had seen her mum before she died. Nor that he blackmailed her for £100k. Ruby seems to have forgiven him after he organised a holiday for her to visit son Nicky.

But when she returns she will come face to face with Steph, who she hasn’t seen in years. There’s definitely beef between mother and daughter and Steph wants nothing to do with Ruby. It all comes to a head with a slap in the face and then Ruby’s dad, Anthony, turns up as well. He disowned Ruby when she chose to marry Caleb.

But he seems to have changed and wants to reconcile. Will Ruby forgive him? And can she get her daughter back on side?

Where do you recognise Beth Cordingly from?

Beth’s big break came in Channel 5 soap Family Affairs. She played Sara Warrington, a lapdancer who blew her wages on her cocaine habit. She left the soap after a year to move into theatre.

Then in 2002 she came back to TV screens to play PC Kerry Young in The Bill. Prior to playing Ruby it is probably her best-known TV role. She stayed until 2004 when Kerry was raped by evil PC Gabriel Kent. He was then revealed as the Sun Hill sniper. Gabriel shot Kerry and she died – but he was devastated to learn she was pregnant with his baby after the attack.

Beth has appeared in all sorts of other TV hits though, including Casualty, Doctors, and Merlin. She also played Shirley Carter’s prison cellmate in EastEnders, and she’s an experienced theatre actress.

Beth Cordingly and Emmerdale star Ian Kelsey

Beth is in a relationship with former Emmerdale star Ian Kelsey, who played Kim Tate’s lover Dave Glover. He also played Vinny Ashford in Coronation Street, a dodgy business associate of Pat Phelan, who ended up one of the serial killer’s victims.

The couple have been together for three years. Last Christmas they shared a motorcycling adventure around Normandy and documented their travels in a video on YouTube.

Beth and Ian first met 20 years ago, but both married other people and lost touch. When they reconnected in 2021, they got together and have been loved-up ever since.

“I am very in love with Ian and very happy,” Beth told The Mirror earlier this year. “I think it really does work him being an actor too. He has been so fantastic.”

When Beth was offered the part of Ruby in Emmerdale, she asked Ian for advice. And, he was all for it.

“Ian was really supportive and wanted me to do it, which is lovely,” she confessed.

Beth lives in the south of the country and has one daughter, who she describes as her “best little person”. Beth is commuting to Leeds for the part of Ruby. She regularly shares her travel on Instagram as the trains have been a bit of a nightmare for her!

However, she revealed Ian completely understands the struggle.

“There is that thing as an actor where you are always taken away from home. But he totally gets it,” Beth said. “He knows a lot of the crew and cast and so it’s lovely to be able to share what I’ve been up to, knowing he understands. That’s important when you are away and he is always keen to find out how filming has gone each day.

“We are both very supportive of each other’s careers which is important when it is such a competitive industry,” she added.

    Beth’s charity work

As an ambassador for ChildLine, Beth is committed to raising awareness and funds on their behalf. She ran the London Marathon in 2004 for the charity.

In 2009, she was given an award at the House of Commons of the United Kingdom for her outstanding contributions to the NSPCC.

    She’s a writer too!

Beth has added another string to her bow by being a published author. She has a creative writing MA from Birkbeck, University of London.

In 2009 she wrote a short story which was published in an anthology of short stories called Dancing with Mr Darcy. She has also won other short story competitions.

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Eric got answers over his illness, Jai realised the truth and Tina’s still not gone for good

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Eric got answers over his illness, Jai realised the truth and Tina’s still not gone for good

Emmerdale tonight saw Eric get answers from Liam over his health crisis. Hopefully it’s all going to be okay and he’s vowed to keep fighting, but it really did have us worried for a while.

Meanwhile, Jai finally realised Caleb was not his mate, they were not business partners and he’s not going to get all of his money back. Whoops.

Here’s everything that went down in Emmerdale on Wednesday November 13.

Eric was seriously ill in Emmerdale tonight

Eric had not turned up for work and Tracy was pretty cross, but Brenda wasn’t worried. She should have been though as he was stuck in bed, unable to get up. He couldn’t get his legs to move and although he thought he had called Brenda and was begging her to help him, his phone was off.

Pollard managed to get himself moving and walked down the road in his pyjamas and slippers. Caleb found him and insisted on helping him. Pollard gave in and said he wanted to go to Liam’s house.

Liam told Pollard he was suffering from freezing, which was a symptom of his Parkinson’s. It’s all because there is a shortage of his usual medicine and he can’t get access to it. Poor Eric is suffering mentally as he believes his condition is worsening, but Liam reassured him it’s because of the medication.

Tearful Eric refused to be anybody’s problem. He even then went back to work where he encountered Caleb again. And although he vowed he wasn’t giving up his campaign against Caleb’s depot, there was a warmth developing between them.

The penny dropped for Jai in Emmerdale tonight

Caleb is clearly playing Jai, who wants to be in charge, but has been lumbered with marketing and costings. He,was not happy and he wants his money back, but Caleb was not interested in giving him a penny.

Will later warned Jai not to trust Caleb as he’ll try to take him for all he has. Alarm bells finally started ringing that he is being scammed. It took it’s time!

Meanwhile, Kerry tapped Jai up for a job, but he refused. However, Caleb then gave Kerry the job and Jai was not at all happy. It was all rather tedious as he tried to fire her, but Kerry said Caleb was in charge.

Jai later demanded his money back again and Caleb pretended to make a phone call to sort it all out. He claimed Jai will have his money by the end of the week. But Jai then checked his phone and realised Caleb hadn’t called anyone at all.

The penny is starting to drop and honestly, after the way Jai has behaved towards Laurel, we’re pretty pleased he’s ended up with egg on his face. The supposedly bright businessman has nothing left and he’s about to realise it…

No one knows whether Tina has gone for good

Vinny was moping (understandably) because he regretted not asking all the questions before Tina left. She’s staying with a mate in a caravan after Cain set fire to hers and Vinny decided to see her.

However he was too afraid to go in when he arrived. He saw Tina from a distance and heard what he thought were his siblings so rushed back to offload on Gabby in the Woolpack. He even momentarily spoke to Mandy to tell her what had happened. Mandy thought it was good that Vinny didn’t want to see Tina and her kids, but Gabby told her as long as Tina is nearby, Vinny will always wonder.

Will Mandy now act to get rid of Tina for good? Has Tina really left the soap? Or is there one final showdown ahead?

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Nicola went to see Jimmy and offloaded what had happened with Angel yesterday. They agreed to present a united front and talk to their daughter together.

Jimmy insisted he wanted them back home as that’s clearly what Angelica wants too. Nicola got her hopes up, but then stupid Jimmy refused to kick Tom out and it was back to square one. When will he stop choosing that violent abuser over his own family we wonder?

  • What’s wrong with Eric Pollard in Emmerdale? His Parkinson’s battle and health decline as fans fear he’s going to die

What’s wrong with Eric Pollard in Emmerdale? His Parkinson’s battle and health decline as fans fear he’s going to die

Eric Pollard is clearly struggling with his health on-screen in Emmerdale right now. But as he appears to be in decline, what exactly is wrong with him? Is this a sign his Parkinson’s is worsening? Or is there something else afoot?

What’s wrong with Eric Pollard in Emmerdale?

Emmerdale’s longest-serving character, Eric Pollard is currently going through the mill with his health. Struggling with the stress Caleb’s new depot empire is bringing to his daily life with reems of lorries running back and forth along the road by his house, Pollard lost it on Monday.

When Caleb was dismissive over Eric’s complaints and refused to take him seriously, Pollard took action. He jumped into one of the lorries. But he suffered hand tremors and crashed the vehicle into some crates. Pollard was clearly worried about the state of himself as he couldn’t stop shaking.

Last night (Tuesday November 12) Pollard desperately tried to get a doctor’s appointment to get to the bottom of what was wrong. However he couldn’t get through on the phone and caused a scene in the surgery demanding Ella’s help. He was escorted out by Wendy and Bear.

Things come to head tonight when Pollard can’t get out of bed and is then found wandering the road alone in his slippers by Caleb. Caleb takes him to Liam’s house, but will the good doc come up with a diagnosis? What is wrong with Pollard?

Eric diagnosed with Parkinson’s in Emmerdale

Exactly a year ago, in November 2023, Pollard revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Eric first confided in Mandy about his illness, but begged her to keep it a secret. He refused to tell partner Brenda, son David or grandson Jacob.

He confessed that he’d been experiencing numbness and tingling as well as being less steady on his feet.

Emmerdale worked closely with the charity Parkinson’s UK to portray the story as accurately as possible. The soap assured viewers the story would play out on screen over a long period of time.

At the time Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw said: “When Eric Pollard is diagnosed with Parkinson’s he’s naturally very scared and unsure of what the condition means for his future. The unique position of a show like Emmerdale means we can tell this story really authentically over a long period of time and we can really shine a light on what a diagnosis like this means and follow Pollard on his journey of learning to live with it.

“Working closely with Parkinson’s UK, who have been guiding us through every step of the way, we hope seeing Pollard’s story helps to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and show the day to day reality of those living with it, as well as the impact it can have on friends, family and the local community.”

Eric Pollard actor, Chris Chittell said: “I feel really privileged to be given this storyline. Parkinson’s is indiscriminate, deceptive and wickedly unkind targeting so many. I want to do this storyline justice for the most courageous of people who are having to bear the brunt of this condition.”

Is Eric Pollard going to die in Emmerdale?

This week’s scenes have concerned fans who have speculated Pollard might die. It comes after a freshly dug grave was spotted on set by a fan on the Emmerdale tour. The grave is positioned next to his beloved wife Val – could this mean something? With Pollard clearly unwell, viewers have started to wonder.

One fan commented on X: “Emmerdale are so setting up Eric’s death this is so sad.” Another added: “Don’t like Eric getting bad when it’s nearly Christmas. Don’t want a Christmas death.”

In fact, tonight we will discover Pollard does not have access to his usual medication due to a shortage. That and the stress caused by his altercation with Caleb are what is escalating his symptoms. But can Liam help Pollard get back on top of this?

It’s not long before defiant Eric is back working in the shop, much to Caleb’s surprise. He’s not giving up yet!

And with a Christmas wedding on the horizon for him and Brenda there’s still life in Pollard yet. However, Brenda is also said to be leaving after 16 years, so chances are there’s also more drama ahead too.
