Emmerdale spoilers: Nicola threatens Tom after finding out the truth about Carl

Nicola King threatens Tom in Emmerdale spoilers next week after she realises her son Carl‘s bad mood is related to Tom.

Following Belle reporting Tom for abusing her, Tom has managed to fool many people – including his uncle Jimmy and Jimmy’s wife Nicola – that his estranged wife has an agenda and is lying about him as revenge.

However, next week, Nicola gets suspicious and questions Carl about the toy car Tom gave him. Viewers will know that Carl was recently threatened by Tom. He then witnessed Tom smashing up his tablet, which contained evidence of his abusive behaviour towards Belle. Tom then subsequently bribed his cousin into keeping quiet by buying him a toy car.

With Nicola determined to get to the bottom of why Carl is scared of Tom, are Tom’s days numbered?

    Nicola King questions Carl

Carl previously told Tom that Tom had scared him. Next week, Nicola is – rightly – convinced that Carl is upset due to Tom, but when she tries to talk to her son, Tom unexpectedly returns to the house and Carl clams up.

She becomes frustrated that Carl can’t be honest with her and discreetly calls Jimmy to share her suspicions. Nicola is then intrigued when she spots Carl’s radio-controlled car in the bin. She questions her son about the toy and finally manages to get some information from him, but he’s scared about telling her the whole truth.

  • Spoilers: Nicola realises Carl’s afraid of Tom – is he starting to unravel?

Spoilers: Nicola realises Carl’s afraid of Tom – is he starting to unravel?

Nicola King notices that young Carl Jr seems to be scared of cousin Tom in Emmerdale spoilers next week. This comes after little Carl witnessed Tom smash up his tablet into pieces and was then bullied into silence.

Tom, of course, has a history of abuse towards anyone and everyone he perceives as ‘weaker’ than him – from long-suffering ex-wife Belle Dingle to Piper the Pup, through to poor unsuspecting Vinnie (ouch) and little Isaac too. Carl Jr was the latest of Tom’s victims, getting in his way after seeing him smash up his tablet, which had been full of incriminating videos of Belle.

    Tom disposes of the evidence

If found, the tablet would have cleared Belle’s name. Tom‘s nasty little secret was almost revealed when Isaac stole the device, putting it in Moira’s hands. Moira then watched a few of Tom’s videos and realised exactly what he had been up to.

Unfortunately, before she could tell anyone what she had seen, Moira suffered a seizure and forgot all about the tablet. In the days which followed, Tom snuck into Butlers Farm, took the gadget back and disposed of the evidence.

This he did by smashing up the incriminating piece of equipment in his own garden. However, he’d been unaware at the time that someone had been snooping – Carl Jr, watching through the window as Tom disposed of the evidence.

Tom managed to keep Carl quiet, but for how long? And will Nicola finally begin to realise that something’s not right with Tom?

    Emmerdale spoilers: Nicola grows uneasy

As the week begins, Nicola begins to notice that Carl seems to be afraid of Tom. Growing unsettled, she starts to sense that maybe something isn’t right with Jimmy’s nephew.

    Is Nicola on to Tom?

Fans predict ‘unexpected saviour’ as Tom makes terrible mistake

Fans of Emmerdale have predicted that Tom King’s downfall is at hand – and an ‘unexpected’ saviour could be responsible.

Last night’s episode (Monday, October 7) of the soap saw Tom destroy all evidence of his wrongdoing against Belle, stealing back his missing tablet and then smashing it up to hide the incriminating footage within.

    Tom destroys the evidence

This followed the events of last week, in which Moira stumbled across Tom’s videos – then promptly forgot she’d seen them in the first place, suffered a seizure, and lost the tablet.

Having gotten the tablet back, Tom then destroyed it, whacking it to bits with a rock. Job done, eh?

Little did Tom know, but cousin Carl Jr had seen it all… witnessing Tom’s curious act of aggression through the window.

    But what happens next?

Emmerdale fans predict Carl will bring Tom down

Writing on social media as the episode aired, fans shared their theories – and many wondered whether little Carl Jr might be Tom’s undoing.

“The evil Tom lurking around and plotting, not knowing Carl knows what he’s done, the downfall of Tom begins!” wrote one gleeful viewer.

“The way little Carl King is going to turn out to be the unexpected hero of this abuse storyline,” said another.

“Grass on him Carl,” wrote a third.

“I hope Carl Jnr spills everything!!!!!,” prayed a fourth.

    Smug Tom rubs it in

Earlier in the episode, Tom had continued to menace Belle, taunting her as she walked through the village. While Belle assured him that he was ‘going down’ for what he had done, smug Tom remained… well, perfectly smug.

  • The other Carl King in Emmerdale – not the aggressive murderer, the young boy who might be the key to Tom’s downfall

The other Carl King in Emmerdale – not the aggressive murderer, the young boy who might be the key to Tom’s downfall

Carl King in Emmerdale is about to get his first major role as he becomes embroiled in cousin Tom King’s abuse of Belle Dingle.

But there appears to be some confusion between young Carl King and old Carl King. Because Tom’s evil dad was also called Carl and he is dead.

So as spoilers reveal Carl witnesses Tom destroying evidence on Monday October 7, no, Carl King Senior has not come back from the dead. It is in fact Carl King Jnr.

Still confused? We’ve got you! Here’s everything we know about Carl King Jnr.

    Carl Holliday’s parents in Emmerdale

Despite being Jimmy King’s son, Carl is actually a Holliday. His mum is Juliette Holliday and Carl was born after a mix-up at a fertility clinic.

Juliette had been impregnated with Jimmy’s sperm instead of her chosen donor’s. She arrived in Emmerdale in 2014 asking Jimmy to sign paperwork to waive his rights to the unborn child. But then she went into labour at Jimmy’s and gave birth to a baby boy assisted by Nicola.

Juliette named their son Carl, having no idea it was the same name as one of Jimmy’s dead brothers.

Jimmy was granted access to baby Carl, but then Juliette’s estranged husband Greg came back to her and wanted to be a family. Juliette told Jimmy he could have no more contact and upset Nicola took the baby and ran away. Jimmy brought them home and Juliette agreed not to press charges before leaving with her husband and son.

    Juliette and Carl return

By 2015, Juliette was back in the village. Greg had left her again and she was struggling to be a single mum. By January 2016 she decided she couldn’t copy any more and left Carl with Jimmy while she got her life back together.

By February it was clear Juliette wasn’t returning so Jimmy called her to get parental rights put in place. She agreed and Nicola was worried about her, so gave her some food before she left to ensure she was looking after herself. See, Nicola does have a heart!

That was the last we saw of Juliette for some years and little Carl settled into life with Nicola and Jimmy.

Juliette comes back for Carl in Emmerdale

In 2021, Juliette had decided she’d got her life together and wanted her son back. She rented a flat nearby and started the process of getting custody of Carl again. Jimmy and Nicola were devastated, but argued over how best to proceed.

Juliette proved she was serious when she set out to sabotage their business so they’d have no money for a solicitor. Tensions were at an all-time high between Jimmy and Nicola so Juliette pounced and asked for Carl to stay with her more often. However, secretly she had hired a private investigator to get all the dirt on the couple so she could use it against them.

But by August 2021, things changed dramatically. Juliette announced she was moving to New York – and she wasn’t taking Carl with her. Apparently her new boyfriend Allister didn’t like children and Juliette still didn’t like being a mother.

Carl remained in Jimmy and Nicola’s care and is fully part of the family now.

    Who plays Carl in Emmerdale?

Carl is played by Charlie Joyce who took over the role from Dexter Ansell in 2016. Charlie is 10 years old, the same as his alter ego, Carl.

    Carl’s next storyline

In Emmerdale next week, Tom King is desperate to get his hands on his missing tablet. It contains vital evidence that could prove Belle’s claims of his coercive behaviour.

Carl had the tablet, but it was pinched off him by Isaac Dingle. Moira got her hands on it and saw the incriminating video footage, rushing to show Belle. Unfortunately, she had a seizure on her way and has forgotten everything.

The tablet now sits on a shelf in Butlers with no one paying any attention to it. But Tom wants it back and when he finds out from Carl Isaac has it, he gets into the farm to find it.

And he does get his hands on it before smashing it to smithereens and destroying the evidence. However, Carl has seen everything.

Will Carl now be the key to bringing Tom down? Can he help Belle get justice at last?
