  • Is Kim Tate leaving Emmerdale? The signs might be worrying, but there’s also good news

Is Kim Tate leaving Emmerdale? The signs might be worrying, but there’s also good news

Joe Tate returned to Emmerdale tonight and was revealed to be behind Will and Peter’s plot to bring down Kim Tate. Kim also had an accident on her horse and was taken to hospital.

So, with the odds stacked against her, is someone finally going to get the better of Kim Tate? And is she leaving Emmerdale?

    Joe Tate returns

After the shock return of Joe Tate to Emmerdale, there is plenty of drama to look forward to. He is the man pulling the strings of the plot to topple Queen Kim, and Will is just a pawn in his game.

But what is his game? Well, we don’t know much, but we know Kim won’t be happy to see him!

Of his comeback to Emmerdale, actor Ned Porteous, who plays Joe, said: “I’m so excited to be returning to Emmerdale. There’s a lot of unfinished business for Joe, and it feels like the right time for him to make a comeback.

“Joe has always been a character with a dark side, but there could be something much bigger at play here. Joe is back for a reason, and the devastation at Home Farm is just the beginning of a much bigger story. It’s safe to say the audience can expect fireworks this holiday season!”

    Kim Tate’s accident in Emmerdale

With Kim and Will planning to renew their vows on Christmas Day, all the family around them and poorly Evan home for Christmas, Kim Tate seems to be ready for a very happy Christmas. She seemingly doesn’t know Will is plotting against her.

Tonight (Tuesday December 24) saw Kim go out for a ride on her horse Ice. But Ice was spooked and reared up. He threw Kim from his back and wandered off alone.

When Will spotted the horse and then saw a lifeless body in the next field, he realised something awful had happened to Kim.

He called an ambulance and – lo and behold – realised he loved her and he no longer wanted revenge. But it’s a bit too late to stop the revenge plot. Oh dear.

    Christmas Day at Home Farm

As Christmas Day dawns, we are given a flashforward to what has happened at Home Farm. There’s eerie music playing, the Christmas tree is on its side and there has obviously been a struggle.

Who has been the victim? Is Kim dead? Has she offed Joe Tate as soon as he returned? Has Will met his maker? Or have Dawn, Billy or the kids been caught in the crossfire?

We don’t know yet and it’s got us rather concerned that Kim Tate might be on her way out of Emmerdale.

    Is Kim Tate leaving Emmerdale?

Although nothing is certain, we know that actress Claire King has told us Kim isn’t celebrating New Year’s Eve with the rest of the villagers. She told Emmerdale Insider and other media: “All I know is that I don’t think we go to the Woolpack New Year’s Eve do. I manage to get out of those.

“I was too busy on another set, but I won’t say which one because it might give something away.”

So, it looks like Kim’s not in a great state, but as Claire was still filming, fortunately still alive!

Claire also teased the return of evil Kim: “She’s been nice for three years, really. It’s kind of ‘Zzzzzz. Hi kiddies! Come on, Granny takes you!’ It’s like, ‘Ugh! I want to kill someone!’”

So could the return of bad Kim signify she’s not leaving at all?

One thing’s for sure, we are really looking forward to Christmas in Emmerdale this year!

Claire King told Emmerdale Insider and other media: “All I know is that I don’t think we go to the Woolpack New Year’s Eve do. I manage to get out of those.

“I was too busy on another set. I won’t say which one because it might give something away.”

  • The real Kim Tate is back reveals Claire King as she takes on Ruby and Rose: ‘They’re no match for Kim’

The real Kim Tate is back reveals Claire King as she takes on Ruby and Rose: ‘They’re no match for Kim’

For anyone asking just what has happened to Kim Tate in Emmerdale, Claire King has got good news for you: the old Kim will make a return as she takes on Ruby and Rose and vows to bring them down. Rather them than us!

In a recent interview with Emmerdale Insider and other media, Claire said: “I keep getting everybody asking me, what has happened to Kim? Why is she being so soft? But I think she’s doing it for the family. She wants to keep the family together.”

But will she succeed in getting herself back on top? We know who our money is on!

Claire King insists Kim is ‘more dangerous than Ruby’ in Emmerdale

Home Farm is in turmoil after Rose tried to drug and entrap Will, but accidentally drugged Dawn instead. She’s managed to pin the blame on Kim, forcing Kim to move out to the B&B to protect baby Evan, and next week will seduce Will. So it looks like Rose and Ruby’s evil plot to get the better of Kim is working.

But this is Kim Tate, the queen of Emmerdale, we’re talking about and Claire insists Kim has not met her match.

“I think Ruby would like to think she’s met her match, but I don’t think she’s on a par with Kim. Kim could be a little bit more dangerous!”

So what about Rose? “I think [Kim’s] probably got quite a good idea of what she’s up to,” assures Claire. “Apart from Ruby pulling her strings. I don’t think she sees Rose as a terrible threat, but it’s probably wrong for Kim to think that actually.”

    Will falls for Rose’s tricks

Dean Andrews, who plays Will, admits that his alter ego is about to do something really, really, really stupid when he cheats on Kim and ends up in bed with Rose.

“Will thinks that Kim’s spiked the drinks, so he goes to see her but she ignores him. So he goes home feeling a bit sorry for himself and gets a little bit of love from Rose. And a little more love from her a bit later on!”

“But of course, she’s been paid to do that!” Claire points out!

“He really regrets it,” Dean carries on. “It’s just one of those moments of madness. He really does love Kim and wants harmony back in the house.”

The old Kim Tate would never forgive Will for this. But Claire thinks perhaps after a bit of revenge it’ll all be okay.

“I think because of the way Kim is, it’s going to be a very big hump to get over. I would imagine she will be exacting revenge,” she explains.

“It’s been a very nice sort of two or three years of playing happy families. But I think that’s always going to be within her and it’s going to come out at some point. I fear for Rose and I fear for Ruby!”

Emmerdale star Claire King on Kim’s revenge

On that note, Claire is desperately looking forward to the revenge plot – and we don’t blame her, because we are too!

“I can’t wait! I’ve got them all lined up,” Claire says. “There are a few that have wronged her. There’s Rose to sort out, Ruby, Will’s got to have a bit of a slap around the chops. So yeah, there’s a few. Probably Caleb in there just for good measure. Maybe chuck a Dingle in there! Sounds a bit busy, doesn’t it!”

Given Kim’s track record of leaving people to die, faking her own death and hiring assassins, there’s no telling what she’ll do. If she’s still capable that is…

“I think she is more than capable,” says Claire. “But whether she would go down that line now I’m not sure. It depends how badly things go. But obviously this is an ultimate betrayal for her. I think Rose is in serious doo doo!”

  • All the Emmerdale stars who’ve appeared on Strictly Come Dancing from Kelvin Fletcher to Claire King

All the Emmerdale stars who’ve appeared on Strictly Come Dancing from Kelvin Fletcher to Claire King

Strictly Come Dancing has been a favourite show for Emmerdale stars since the early days of the glittering show! And Emmerdale dancers are among the fans’ top competitors of all time.

Here’s the lowdown of all the Emmerdale stars who have taken part in Strictly Come Dancing, who they danced with, and how far they got in the show.

    Claire King

Claire, who plays iconic Emmerdale villain Kim Tate, took part in the fourth series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2006. She was paired with the show’s ‘bad boy’, Brendan Cole, who’d won the very first series with newsreader Natasha Kaplinski. The pressure was on!

Claire was competing against fellow soap star Louisa Lytton (aka Ruby Allen in EastEnders) and one-time Corrie mechanic Ray Fearon, as well as Spice Girl Emma Bunton, and rugby player Matt Dawson.

She was eliminated eight in the competition – making it through to the end of November – when her samba scored just 25 out of 40.

In the end, cricketer Mark Ramprakash won the series with his partner Karen Hardy.

Claire has made no secret of the fact she and Brendan didn’t get on. Her crippling arthritis also made competing on the show a challenge, but she was determined never to give up.

Responding to reports she and Brendan were romantically involved, Claire told The People at the time: “Our routines, may be hot but that’s as far as it goes. Brendan grinds down my confidence and I don’t feel like he’s given me a lot of support.”

She continued: “Brendan’s been defeatist from the word go about his chances of winning when he found out I was his partner. I’ve had no moral support or team spirit from him.

“I’m not a dancer and I needed someone to help me through it.

“It takes me longer than the younger contestants to pick things up and Brendan is very intolerant and impatient with me. He’s got a very short temper – both of us have.”

    Lisa Riley

Mandy Dingle‘s alter ego Lisa Riley took part in the 10th series of Strictly in 2012, taking on Olympians Louis Smith (who won the series) and Victoria Pendleton (who also once appeared on Emmerdale!), as well as current EastEnders star Colin Salmon (who plays George Knight), and Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh.

Lisa was partnered with Robin Windsor and the pair were certainly a big hit with viewers, making it all the way through to December before being eliminated in the semi-final!

Lisa and Robin became firm friends and she was devastated when Robin died in February 2024, aged just 44. She paid tribute to her friend, calling him her angel.

    Gemma Atkinson

Former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson, AKA Carly Hope, took to the dancefloor in 2017. It was series 15 of the show and Gemma was paired with Aljaž Škorjanec.

Gemma took to dancing immediately and was therefore a big hit with Strictly fans. She and Aljaž were runners up in the series, which was eventually won by Holby City star Joe McFadden and his partner Katya Jones.

But though Gemma didn’t win the series, she did win a different prize! She hit it off with professional dancer Gorka Marquez and the pair started a relationship.

They’re now engaged and are also proud parents to daughter Mia and son Tio.

Emmerdale stars on Strictly Come Dancing: Kelvin Fletcher

Kelvin wasn’t even supposed to be in Strictly in 2019. He was a last-minute replacement for Jamie Laing following his injury. Kelvin only started training two weeks before the first live show.

He was partnered with Oti Mabuse, who was in her fifth year as a Strictly professional.

Kelvin started with a bang, achieving the highest score of week one with his salsa. And he didn’t stop there! The farmer and racing car fan went on to smash the competition. He then won the whole series!

    Adam Thomas

One-time Emmerdale star Adam, who now stars in Waterloo Road, took part in Strictly in 2023 partnered with Luba Mushtuk.

Adam loved every minute of his appearance on Strictly, spreading joy with his infectious enthusiasm.

Unfortunately, he didn’t go the distance and he and Luba were voted off the show in the seventh week, after being in the dance-off two weeks in a row. They were eliminated when the judges chose to save newsreader Angela Rippon and her partner Kai Widdrington.
