6 Emmerdale cast members with famous families including Danny Miller and Will Ash

The Emmerdale cast are full of talented actors. But for some of them, showbiz runs in their family.

Everyone focuses on cast members who are together in real life, but there are actually quite a lot who grew up in a talented household. And aren’t the only famous face in their family.

Have you ever thought some of them looked like someone famous? Or thought you knew the surname from somewhere? If so here’s a rundown of those in the Emmerdale cast who have famous family members.

    1. Amy Walsh

One of the most obvious ones is Amy Walsh (Tracy Robinson). Amy grew up with not just one famous sibling, but two.

One of her sisters, Sally Walsh, was actually in Emmerdale years before Amy. And despite leaving before her sister arrived, the love for the soap clearly runs in the family.

Then Amy’s other sister, Kimberly, is a member of the huge girl group, Girls Aloud. Kimberly and Amy have always had a strong bond.

When Girls Aloud recently embarked on their reunion tour, Amy posted on social media several times at the show, singing along.

    2. Adam Thomas

While Adam is no longer in the show, he is best-known for playing fan-favourite Adam Barton.

Away from the show he comes from quite a talented background, as both of his brothers have appeared on our screens before.

His older brother, Ryan Thomas, is best known for playing much loved Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street from 2000 to 2016.

And while Adam’s twin Scott hasn’t been on any soaps, the star has appeared on two seasons of Love Island. He first went on the show back in 2016. But returned on this season’s Love Island: All Stars. However, a few days ago he made the decision to quit.

    3. Danny Miller

Danny Miller, best known for playing Aaron Dingle, also has a famous relative that might shock you.

His 90-year-old father, Vince Miller, is quite a legendary figure in the entertainment industry. He had a remarkable 65-year showbiz career, alongside stars like Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey.

Danny, who regularly hosts charity events, and Vince seem to have always had a close bond, as the star will regularly show his dad off on social media.

    4. Charley Webb

Everyone may be aware that Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle) was in a long-term marriage with Emmerdale co-star Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe). The couple share three sons together and despite their relationship ending, seem to manage co-parenting successfully.

But what might surprise fans is that Charley’s brother is also a well-known face. Jamie Lomas is best known for his role as Warren Fox on the Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks.

The siblings however, tend to keep a low profile in the public eye, rarely showing any snaps together.

    5. Amelia Flanagan

Tuesday February 4’s Emmerdale episode proved what a star Amelia is, playing April Windsor in the soap. She is currently at the centre of a heartbreaking storyline that has viewers gripped.

But away from Emmerdale, it seems her younger siblings actually followed in her footsteps. She is the older sister to twins William and Isabella Flanagan, who both appear in Coronation Street.

Isabella plays the troublesome Hope Stape, whereas William takes on the role of Joseph Brown.

    6. William Ash

When Caleb Miligan arrived on our screens, we had no idea that he had another hugely talented soap relative in his family.

Over on the cobbles, his talented cousin, Peter Ash, played the role of loved Paul, up until recently.

When Will joined Emmerdale, Peter took to X to express his pride. He wrote: “Yes! This is my cousin, Will! He is an absolutely fantastic actor and was one of my biggest inspirations for getting into acting. Can’t wait to see him do his stuff in Emmerdale!”

  • Inside Emmerdale star Danny Miller’s very personal passion for charity work as annual ball tickets go on sale

Inside Emmerdale star Danny Miller’s very personal passion for charity work as annual ball tickets go on sale

Emmerdale cast member Danny Miller has announced that tickets for his annual charity ball have gone on sale.

Danny, best known for playing bad boy Aaron Dingle, has always been outspoken about his love for helping others. And it was this passion that drove him to create his own organisation help.

Currently Aaron is involved in the huge storyline of Anthony’s murder. He has spent the last week thinking he was the one who killed him. But Thursday night’s episode (January 30) shared the shocking revelation that it was actually Ruby – much to fans’ delight.

However, away from the Dales, way back in 2011, Danny co-founded the Manchester based children’s bereavement charity, Once Upon A Smile, alongside friend and actor, Daniel Jillings.

But what exactly is the charity? And what has Danny said about it? Well here’s a look inside the Emmerdale cast member’s passion for charity work.

Danny Miller smiling on Loose Women

What is Once Upon A Smile?

The charity provides emotional and practical support to bereaved families. And it was formed after it became apparent that there was a lack of support for families who have lost a loved one.

The inspiration came after Danny lost a close friend and Emmerdale producer, Gavin Blyth. Danny has opened up, revealing that Gavin was the one who “took Aaron down the path of struggling with his sexuality.”

For Danny, he felt like he owed Gavin a lot as he was the one who gave him his “big break” in the industry.

He spoke to What to Watch about the impact it had, saying: “I started the charity because a friend of mine passed away. He left behind a lovely young family. I wanted to know what I could do for more families like the Blyths.”

Danny Miller speaks out on charity work

The former I’m A Celebrity winner revealed that he was “in a hole of grief and disbelief” at Gavin’s funeral. But nothing that he felt compared to how Gavin’s family were feeling.

He said: “I wanted to create something that would counter that. Something that would help families become united again. For them to support each other emotionally and practically after bereavement.”

Danny and Daniel made the decision to do the charity together in a  “blood brothers” agreement. And for the Emmerdale star, he “feels pride” when he thinks of all that the charity has achieved.

    The annual ball

One thing they knew that would be difficult is raising awareness and money for the charity. So, they created an annual ball. Which seems to have taken off.

Every year, the charity hosts a ball for those who want to help raise money. Earlier in the week Danny, who is now a dad of two, announced the tickets for 2025’s ball have gone on sale.

Anyone can buy a ticket. And every year it’s a sold out event with appearances from faces from TV and music. The night is full of musical acts, a three-course meal and even a red carpet experience.

Other members of the Emmerdale cast have shown up in support for Danny’s charity every year. And this year is expected to be no different.

In last year’s event, The Emmerdale Band even featured as a musical guest for the evening. This included performances from Dominic Brunt (Paddy Kirk), Katie Hill (Sarah Sugden) and Olivia Bromley (Dawn Fletcher). Not just that, but over 20 cast members showed up to support.

Danny spoke to Yahoo about the Emmerdale support last year. He said: “We have a really big presence of Emmerdale at the ball this year. There are over 20 cast members coming. I’m very excited for that. They’ll be a great part of the night.”

    Other Danny Miller charity events

The annual ball isn’t the only event that Danny has done in honour of Once Upon A Smile. In 2020, Danny raised £30,000 by walking a 40-mile journey from Manchester to Anfield.

At the time, his target was £20K, so he achieved more than £10K over this. He took to X at the time to share his gratitude.

Danny wrote: “Swollen eyes is my biggest injury. Just cried and cried last night at so many of your beautiful support messages, donations and generosity.”

Fans fear Danny Miller is leaving Emmerdale as Aaron Dingle – Here’s all we know

In Emmerdale, Aaron Dingle is working to cover up the death of Anthony, and now fans are worried that Danny Miller is leaving.

Last week, Aaron attacked Anthony in the Depot and then worked to move his dead body with boyfriend John.

But, could Danny Miller be leaving the soap as Aaron? Here’s all we know about a potential exit. Eek…

    Aaron attacked Anthony in Emmerdale

Last week in the Dales, Anthony stumbled into the Depot to meet up with Steph after being whacked on the head with a candlestick by Laurel and after almost being shot by Caleb.

Just when he thought he had reached safety, he got an unwelcome surprise when he came face to face with Aaron. Aaron had caught wind of Anthony’s abuse of Ruby, with haunting memories of his dad Gordon flooding back in his mind.

Aaron then attacked Anthony but vowed not to kill him. He (and many viewers) wanted to see him rot in prison.

But, Aaron was pushed to the edge and kept on punching him… and punching him.

Quickly legging it after realising the extent of what he’d done, Aaron then headed back to the Depot but this time with John by his side.

John confirmed that Anthony had died and then helped Aaron wrap his body up and dispose of it. Such a romantic gesture.

Everything we know about a Danny Miller potential exit as Aaron

At the moment, John and Aaron are working on a plan to get rid of the evidence that points them towards Anthony’s death.

They’re working to get rid of any trace of his car and body. But, if this backfires, Aaron AND John could be both looking at a lengthy prison sentence. And, fans are worried Danny Miller’s Aaron could soon be departing from our screens as a result.

One fan commented: “Getting anxiety thinking of the possibility that Aaron could go to prison for this… The only upside being that Robert is in there.”

Another wrote: “I wonder what’s going to happen? Please don’t let Aaron go to jail. I knew John had a load of secrets when he arrived. This is going to get very dark.”

A third person also added: “They can’t do that to us! Pleaseeeee don’t let Aaron get sent down!”

As it stands, the soap hasn’t announced an exit for Danny Miller as Aaron. Thankfully. But, Aaron’s definitely found himself in a sticky situation. Things could get messy.

Prison is always a possibility in a storyline like this. But, can Aaron manage to cover his tracks? Or, will he get caught and exit the soap?

Emmerdale star Danny Miller on Aaron’s desperation to punish Anthony: ‘The motive is there in plain sight’

Emmerdale cast member Danny Miller has opened up about why Aaron could be driven to murder as Anthony is killed in the show.

Aaron Dingle has suffered a lot over the years. Now it seems his past is catching up with him. And the thought of anyone suffering the same abuse he did as a child is too much for him to bear.

Emmerdale cast member Danny Miller has revealed just what Aaron’s motives would be for killing Anthony, and whether he thinks Aaron is actually capable of murder.

    Aaron is concerned in Emmerdale

Emmerdale cast star Danny Miller on Aaron’s realisation

Back in 2016, Emmerdale embarked on a heartbreaking storyline for fan-favourite Aaron when they brought his dad back. After keeping it in for so long, Aaron finally confided in Robert Sugden about the sexual abuse he faced growing up.

What followed was a long and emotional journey where Aaron, with the support of the rest of his family, faced his disgusting dad in court. And thankfully, Gordon got sent down. But, his time in prison wasn’t long, as he ended up taking his own life shortly after the sentencing. Leaving Aaron with even more emotions to deal with.

Now, as Aaron has just realised the truth of what’s happened between Ruby and vile Anthony, he sees red. And wants to get revenge.

Danny Miller explained that while Aaron wasn’t aware of the situation before now, he has ‘always been wary of Anthony.’ And that could be down to ‘an instinct from experience.’

When Aaron spotted the altercation between Ruby and Anthony, he knew deep down what was going on.

Danny added: “He knows the difference of scared looks from his experience. And that’s exactly what he sees in Ruby – he sees himself.”

Aaron is worried and angry in Emmerdale

    Could Aaron kill Anthony?

As soon as Aaron realises, Danny explains he is ‘instantly aggressive and destined for revenge.’ Not only does he see it as a chance to defend Ruby, but it’s also ‘his chance to level with Gordon. Who took the ‘coward’s way out’ as Aaron calls it.’

The revelation obviously brings back horrific times for Aaron, and Danny knows his character would worry about how to cope.

He said: “It’s pure disgust and dread as to how he’ll deal with this. And it brings back so many evil and dark memories for Aaron that he had suppressed for many years.”

We know Anthony ends up dead, so could Aaron kill him? Danny seems to think there’s plenty of reasons why he would.

“Having experienced the same abuse and disgusting acts, he never got the justice he deserved or that Gordon deserved. The motive is there in plain sight,” Danny commented.

These plucky lot have faced their fears and taken part in terrifying Bushtucker Trials.

But how did they all get on? What were their memorable moments? And who went all the way to claim the crown?

    Chris Bisson

Chris Bisson, aka Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma, appeared in the second series of the jungle, way back in April 2003. His campmates included former footballer John Fashanu, dancer Wayne Sleep and eventual winner, cricketer Phil Tufnell.

On day one, Chris received medical attention after he banged his head while trying to help kill a spider. The actor was second to be eliminated and finished in eighth place.

In his exit interview with Ant and Dec, Chris admitted he’d found the experience tough. He also confessed it had been a struggle to go without his normal morning cup of tea.

    Sheree Murphy

Sheree Murphy, aka Tricia Dingle, faced some of her greatest phobias when she competed in the fifth series of I’m A Celebrity. She also delighted audiences by discussing her husband Harry Kewell’s peachy bum on national TV!

Going into the jungle in November 2005, the actress admitted she was terrified of creepy crawlies. The public forced Sheree to face her fears by voting her to take part in a live Bushtucker Trial. During the ordeal, dubbed Rocky Horror, Sheree dealt with snakes, eels and green ants amongst others.

Sheree’s bravery won her the hearts of millions, who voted her the series runner-up, behind winner Carol Thatcher. Sheree went on to present an ITV spin-off series for I’m A Celeb with Phillip Schofield in 2006.

    Malandra Burrows

Emmerdale icon Malandra Burrows, who played Kathy Glover, was a late addition to the 2006 I’m A Celebrity gang. She made a very dramatic entrance on day seven, hanging from a tightrope. Fellow contestants Matt Willis and Lauren Booth came to Malandra’s rescue and took her back to camp.

Her first night was also one to remember, when Malandra fell out of the hammock she was sleeping in. Malandra competed in several Bushtucker Trials – her most memorable one being Skyscraper. The trial required Malandra and fellow contestant Myleene Klass to clamber on a 200ft high seesaw platform and collect flags.

Having been in the bottom two a couple of times, Malandra became the sixth celebrity to be evicted.

Malandra was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and credited her jungle experience for helping her through the difficult days.

    Gemma Atkinson

Future Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson took part in the seventh series of I’m A Celebrity, eight years before she joined the soap as Carly Hope. Already a household name due to her role in Hollyoaks, Gemma charmed the nation with her down-to-earth attitude.

But despite being a real team player, she was only voted in to do two Bushtucker Trials over 18 days. Gemma finished up in a very respectable fifth place, behind supermodel Janice Dickinson and eventual winner, Christopher Biggins.

    Lorraine Chase

Series 11 welcomed Emmerdale actress Lorraine Chase, aka Stephanie Stokes, as one of its contestants. The series was best remembered for the bromance between McFly’s Dougie Poynter and Towie’s Mark Wright, but also Lorraine’s teddy. The star chose her beloved bear, Tedwood, as her luxury item. However, drama ensued when fellow campmate Pat Sharp threatened to kidnap and burn the toy! Poor Lorraine was left in floods of tears, and thankfully Tedwood was unharmed.

Lorraine was the fourth celebrity to get eliminated, finishing in ninth place overall.

    Lucy Pargeter

Lucy Pargeter really threw herself into jungle life when she took part in the 2013 series. The Emmerdale legend, who plays Chas Dingle, quickly established herself as a strong team player and smashed a series of gruesome trials.

Lucy also infamously clashed with fellow contestant, Amy Willerton. The soap actress felt the beauty queen didn’t always pull her weight in camp, and made her feelings known. Lucy’s straight-talking made for great telly, and viewers kept her in right until the final. She finished in a very respectable third.

    Adam Thomas

Adam Thomas, who played Adam Barton in Emmerdale, was in the I’m A Celeb class of 2016. Remembered as the year where all the campmates just really loved one another. Adam was the series’ self-proclaimed Mr Bushtucker Trial, after taking part in a whopping 11. These included Game of Thrones: Gates to Hell and the rather revolting Pick ‘n’ Critz.

Adam lasted 22 days in camp and made it all the way to the final. He finished in third place, after comedian Joel Dommett and winner, Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt. The following year, Adam was invited back to Oz as the new co-host of spin-off show I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp. Sadly the series got axed the following year.

    Danny Miller

Who could forget the moment when Danny Miller was crowned King of the Castle in 2021? I’m A Celebrity had been forced to relocate Gwrych Castle because of Covid travel restrictions. Danny had recently left his job at Emmerdale playing Aaron Dingle and become a new dad.

The actor openly admitted his decision to go on IAC was to provide a future for his son. On December 12, Danny was declared the winner, triumphing over Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson. He went on to reprise his role on Emmerdale, coming back as part of the soap’s 50th anniversary celebrations. He then came back for a permanent return in October 2023.

Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale: From troubled kid to bolshy adult – everything we know about him including original actor Danny Webb and his famous family connections

Aaron Dingle has been through a LOT in his time in Emmerdale. He’s been involved in scams, schemes, romances, stunts, and heart-wrenching drama over the years.

And of course he was one half of Robron – possibly soap’s most popular ever couple!

Here’s everything you need to know about Aaron Dingle.

    Aaron’s family

Aaron’s parents are Gordon Livesey and Chas Dingle. Aaron grew up living with his dad. He also had a half-sister, Liv Flaherty, who grew up living with her mum, Sandra.

    Aaron’s arrival in Emmerdale

Aaron wasn’t a permanent character at first. He was living with his dad, Gordon, and occasionally visited his mum, Chas. But he and Chas had a rocky relationship, and he blamed her for abandoning him.

Between 2003 and 2006, Aaron appeared in the village now and then, always causing trouble! He even managed to break up his mum and Carl King when he told her Carl had slept with her cousin Delilah.

    Aaron Dingle
Danny Webb played Aaron as a youngster

    Return to Emmerdale

Aaron’s drama continued in 2008, when he was arrested by policeman Ross Kirk for drug possession. It turned out, he’d been working as a courier for dodgy local family the Macfarlanes.

He stayed in the village, and got up to all sorts, including sleeping with Victoria Sugden, causing trouble between his mum and her boyfriend Paddy Kirk, and blackmailing Holly Barton.

    Aaron’s sexuality

Aaron tried to kiss his best friend Adam Barton, but he was still in denial about his sexuality and he was soon in a relationship with Holly.

When Adam found out, he told his family that he thought Aaron was gay. He assured his friend that he didn’t care about his sexuality but didn’t want him using his sister.

Aaron broke up with Holly and started going to a gay bar where he met Jackson Walsh.

Paddy was worried about Aaron sneaking around and thought he was back drug dealing, but instead he uncovered Aaron’s secret. Aaron beat Paddy up! As he wrestled with his sexuality he often turned to violence.

Eventually, though, he accepted he was gay and started a relationship with Jackson.

    Jackson’s death

When Jackson was paralysed from the shoulders down in an accident, Aaron helped support him.

But Jackson wasn’t happy with his life as it was, and decided he wanted to end it. With the support of his mum Hazel and Aaron, he took pills to end his life.

    Robron

When Aaron met Robert, the sparks flew! Though Robert was engaged to Chrissie White, he and Aaron began an affair.

The pair went to great lengths to conceal their romance, including Robert shoving Katie Sugden and leaving her to die when she fell through the floor.

Robert and Aaron split, and Robert married Chrissie, but Robron couldn’t stay apart and soon the affair was back on.

It was just the beginning of the drama though which included Robert being shot and Aaron going to jail.

    Marriage!

Among the drama of the Hotton by-pass crash, Aaron and Robert got engaged. Of course nothing was simple and after more prison time for Aaron, a brief drug addiction, and Robert getting his sister-in-law Rebecca White pregnant, they finally made it down the aisle.

Robron split for good when Robert attacked sister Victoria’s rapist Lee Posner and he died. Robert was sent to jail.

    Aaron’s abuse

When Aaron and Robert were settled, Aaron opened up and told Robert that he’d suffered sexual abuse at the hands of his dad Gordon.

He bravely faced up to his childhood trauma, and reported his father to the police.

Gordon was charged and went to court where Aaron gave evidence against him. When Gordon was sent to jail, Aaron changed his name to Dingle. His dad was later found dead in his cell.

    Aaron and Liv

When Aaron was coming to terms with what Gordon had done, he met his younger half-sister, Liv. She and Aaron hit it off and she came to live in the village.

Liv was just as troubled as Aaron but the siblings came to rely on one another and be a good support in tough times.

In 2022, during the storm, Liv was tragically killed. Aaron blamed his mum for his sister’s death and left the village.

    John Sugden

Aaron returned to Emmerdale late last year and now he’s enjoying a steamy romance with John Sugden, the half-brother of his ex-husband, Robert.

We’re fairly sure there’s more drama to come!

    Who plays Aaron Dingle?

Aaron was originally played by Danny Webb. He appeared in 19 episodes.

Danny comes from a soapy family! His sister is Charley Webb, better known as Debbie Dingle in Emmerdale, and their brother is Jamie Lomas – AKA Warren Fox in Hollyoaks.

Danny Miller took on the role in 2008. He’s also from a showbiz family. His dad, Vince Miller, is a popular entertainer in Manchester.

Emmerdale usually airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.

Danny Miller hints at John Sugden connection for Aaron Dingle

Emmerdale newcomer John Sugden is certain to ruffle a few feathers when he rocks up in August – and actor Danny Miller has hinted his alter ego Aaron Dingle could be right in the mix of those feathers!

Although John’s arrival will at first affect Victoria Sugden – his only remaining relative in the village, it doesn’t look like it’ll be long before Aaron is involved too. And given his history with the Sugdens – namely, Victoria’s brother Robert – how will John’s arrival go down?

‘Interesting’ new Sugden coming to Emmerdale, reveals Danny Miller

Danny Miller dropped a few hints about what to expect from John at this year’s Radio Times Soap Awards. He told The Mirror: “There’s a Sugden coming in.

“With the history that Aaron has with Robert, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with them. It’ll be an interesting few months for sure.”

    Hmm, sounds… interesting!

Of course, Aaron was married to Robert Sugden and the pair – known as Robron to the fans – were deemed soulmates. With Robert in prison after he attacked Victoria’s rapist, Lee Posner, who subsequently died, he told Aaron to move on.

Aaron has tried, but most of his romances since have ended tragically, including that with his lover Ben who was murdered by Meena Jutla. But will John’s arrival spell new love for Aaron? And would that not be super-duper weird? But then again, Aaron is a Dingle, a little bit of husband and wife swapping is nothing new to them!

‘Brooding and mysterious’ – just Aaron’s type! (Credit: ITV)

    Who is John Sugden?

Newcomer John is described as ‘brooding and mysterious’ (aren’t they all?) and he will become ‘deeply entwined with the rich history of the Sugden family’. Sounds, er, fun…

However, John will also have his secrets… (Of course he will). He’s set for romance, when he catches “the eye of an unsuspecting resident, enriching the drama around his arrival.” So is that Aaron? And how will that complicate things?

John is played by former Coronation Street actor Oliver Farnworth, who says: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale.

“The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that. I’m looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team.”

Emmerdale usually airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.

Classic Emmerdale usually airs every weekday on ITV3 at 6am and 6.30am, plus 1.40pm and 2.10pm.

Danny Miller: Former King of the Jungle, dad of two and showbiz roots

Danny Miller is best known for playing Emmerdale bad boy Aaron Dingle. He joined the soap in 2008 and has appeared on and off since then.

Danny has been embroiled in some very hard-hitting storylines during his time on Emmerdale.

These include Aaron’s struggle to accept his homosexuality, the horrifying abuse he suffered at the hands of his father Gordon Livesy, a prison sentence and his marriage to Robert Sugden.

The fans fell hard for Robron, and they ended up becoming one of the most popular partnerships the Dales has ever had.

Aaron also has a notoriously difficult relationship with his mum, Chas.

But who is the man behind Aaron’s mask? Danny Miller is a former I’m A Celebrity winner, a dad of two and even has a famous father.
