As rumours spread that Roxy Shahidi, Emmerdale’s Leyla Harding, is leaving the show, it seems acting wasn’t always her only passion.
Roxy joined Emmerdale in 2008 until 2011. But she made her full-time return in 2014. Now 17 years later, reports suggest she is leaving the for good. Some have even reported that Leyla will die in the upcoming ice stunt.
But away from the Dales, Roxy’s life focuses a lot on healthy mindsets and living. And one way she gets this is from her dedication to yoga.
Just how much does yoga have an influence on Roxy’s life? Let’s have a look.
Roxy is a qualified yoga teacher (Credit: ITV)
Roxy Shahidi yoga teacher
She doesn’t just practise yoga in her spare time. Roxy is actually a qualified yoga teacher, sharing everything that she has learned with others. And she would split her time working in Emmerdale with teaching classes in Nottingham.
But if you couldn’t make it to her in person classes, Roxy still made sure you were included. Over the years Roxy has created her own YouTube channels and social media feeds, YogaRox, dedicated to yoga.
There are regular tutorial videos and inspirational quotes to keep her customers motivated. And it seems to be more than just a job to Roxy.
Yoga is her ‘passion’
The former Dancing on Ice contestant previously spoke to Your Healthy Living about her “passion for yoga.”
Explaining what inspired her interest in yoga, Roxy admitted it was actually because of borrowing something from her grandma.
She said: “when I was a teenager I borrowed a Barbara Currie yoga DVD from my grandma. She wore luminous lycra outfits and the DVD had cheesy 90’s backgrounds. It really inspired me.”
I’m just as passionate about it now as ever
But it wasn’t until Roxy was on her Emmerdale break when she became “more dedicated” to practising.
Roxy admitted: “I think whenever you come into contact with something that you feel passionate about then you want to learn more. Initially I just wanted to learn the names of the poses and the proper adjustments. But the more I did it, the more interested I became.
“Yoga is such a vast subject and has such a rich and semi-secret history that you can just keep going with it. There are so many variations too. I’m just as passionate about it now as ever.”

Does Roxy do enjoy other exercises?
It seems yoga is the only form of exercise that is for her. She knows with it she can “never get bored” which makes it stand out for her more than anything else.
She explained: “I just do yoga. My passion is so great I just want to keep finding out more.
“The more you know about yoga, the more you can use it in your everyday routine and benefit from it.”
Roxy Shahidi Emmerdale co-stars get involved
Back in 2020, during the pandemic, some of the Emmerdale cast shared their off-screen talents with the world. The official Emmerdale YouTube channel would even share videos of them to make everyone feel connected.
Then in 2021, the Emmerdale YouTube channel uploaded a video called “Yoga at Emmerdale with Roxy Shahidi.”
In the 37 minute yoga lesson, Roxy was joined by Emmerdale co-star Ash Palmisciano (Matty Barton). She showed him all of the best poses and stances to get them feeling at ease. In episode two she was joined alongside Isabel Hodgins (Victoria Sugden). And in the final episode Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe).

Emmerdale cast member Andy Moore has played PC Swirling for almost 11 years. And despite being frequently on our screens, he still has never been brought in as a cast regular.
Quite often, any time Swirling has scenes on the show, fans call for show bosses to bring him in full-time.Â
At the beginning of April this year, Andy will have been playing the adored policeman for 11 years. But what is his life away from the soap like?

Emmerdale cast member’s real name
Despite being professionally known as Andy Moore, his social media account suggests he has a different surname.
His headline for X reads: “Andy Whitaker. Actor name: Andy Moore.” So it seems the Emmerdale cast member wanted to keep both his professional and private lives separate.
Other TV appearances
The Emmerdale star is a familiar face to TV fans, as he has made appearances on various hit shows.
His first introduction to the world of acting was actually on ITV’s other soap, Coronation Street. Back in 2005, Andy had a brief two episode story arc as a driver.
Then five years later he made his return to the cobbles. But not as a driver. Instead, he played a photographer, appearing very briefly.
But away from soaps, he has appeared on a variety of TV shows. These included the fan-favourite show The Bill, The Royal and Fred and Marv.
Then a few years ago, in 2021, he featured in a YouTube short film titled Barry Glitter.

Musical background for Emmerdale star Andy Moore
What might be surprising for fans to note is Andy has an incredibly huge musical background. It seems throughout his life he has been a member of multiple bands, where he would both sing and play guitar.
Then when the bands went their individual ways, Andy made his own solo album. And it seems the career doesn’t have a sign of stopping. In December 2024, Andy posted an original Christmas song onto YouTube.
At the beginning of the video he admitted he’s currently working on a new EP, which he hopes will be released later this year.
Fans can find countless songs and music covers on his YouTube channel, which he updates quite regularly.

Proud dad and husband
On his official Facebook page, Andy has been praising both of his children as they grow up.
Most recently, he shared that his son, Chris, now has his own freelance web developing service, and has been encouraging fans to check it out.
While he does seem more private regarding his daughter, Ceara, his last post with her was on Christmas Eve when their family were heading out.
As for Andy’s wife, according to Facebook, they celebrated their 33 year wedding anniversary in 2017. So in August this year Andy and Jan will have been married 41 years.

The Emmerdale cast are full of talented actors. But for some of them, showbiz runs in their family.
Everyone focuses on cast members who are together in real life, but there are actually quite a lot who grew up in a talented household. And aren’t the only famous face in their family.
Have you ever thought some of them looked like someone famous? Or thought you knew the surname from somewhere? If so here’s a rundown of those in the Emmerdale cast who have famous family members.
1. Amy Walsh
One of the most obvious ones is Amy Walsh (Tracy Robinson). Amy grew up with not just one famous sibling, but two.
One of her sisters, Sally Walsh, was actually in Emmerdale years before Amy. And despite leaving before her sister arrived, the love for the soap clearly runs in the family.
Then Amy’s other sister, Kimberly, is a member of the huge girl group, Girls Aloud. Kimberly and Amy have always had a strong bond.
When Girls Aloud recently embarked on their reunion tour, Amy posted on social media several times at the show, singing along.

2. Adam Thomas
While Adam is no longer in the show, he is best-known for playing fan-favourite Adam Barton.
Away from the show he comes from quite a talented background, as both of his brothers have appeared on our screens before.
His older brother, Ryan Thomas, is best known for playing much loved Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street from 2000 to 2016.
And while Adam’s twin Scott hasn’t been on any soaps, the star has appeared on two seasons of Love Island. He first went on the show back in 2016. But returned on this season’s Love Island: All Stars. However, a few days ago he made the decision to quit.

3. Danny Miller
Danny Miller, best known for playing Aaron Dingle, also has a famous relative that might shock you.
His 90-year-old father, Vince Miller, is quite a legendary figure in the entertainment industry. He had a remarkable 65-year showbiz career, alongside stars like Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey.
Danny, who regularly hosts charity events, and Vince seem to have always had a close bond, as the star will regularly show his dad off on social media.

4. Charley Webb
Everyone may be aware that Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle) was in a long-term marriage with Emmerdale co-star Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe). The couple share three sons together and despite their relationship ending, seem to manage co-parenting successfully.
But what might surprise fans is that Charley’s brother is also a well-known face. Jamie Lomas is best known for his role as Warren Fox on the Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks.
The siblings however, tend to keep a low profile in the public eye, rarely showing any snaps together.
5. Amelia Flanagan
Tuesday February 4’s Emmerdale episode proved what a star Amelia is, playing April Windsor in the soap. She is currently at the centre of a heartbreaking storyline that has viewers gripped.
But away from Emmerdale, it seems her younger siblings actually followed in her footsteps. She is the older sister to twins William and Isabella Flanagan, who both appear in Coronation Street.
Isabella plays the troublesome Hope Stape, whereas William takes on the role of Joseph Brown.

6. William Ash
When Caleb Miligan arrived on our screens, we had no idea that he had another hugely talented soap relative in his family.
Over on the cobbles, his talented cousin, Peter Ash, played the role of loved Paul, up until recently.
When Will joined Emmerdale, Peter took to X to express his pride. He wrote: “Yes! This is my cousin, Will! He is an absolutely fantastic actor and was one of my biggest inspirations for getting into acting. Can’t wait to see him do his stuff in Emmerdale!”

Could the Emmerdale cast be set to get even smaller? As news of an ITV soap schedule change was announced, it’s inevitable that we’re going to lose some characters.
And it makes the most sense that the ones who are potentially going to go are the ones with minimal connections in the village.
One example of that is Billy. With his marriage hanging on by a thread, his wife having an affair and literally no other attachments in the village, are his days numbered?
Let’s look at all the evidence that suggests he could making an exit in 2025 – and maybe even in a body bag.
Will Billy find out about Joe and Dawn’s affair? (Credit: ITV)
Joe and Dawn’s affair leads to Emmerdale cast change?
Currently Billy’s wife Dawn can’t keep away from Joe Tate, no matter how much she tries.
After the pair slept together, Dawn was overwhelmed with guilt and told him it would never happen again. But in true soap fashion, it does continue.
With the Joe vs Billy debate for Dawn, if her husband ever found out the truth, would he leave her? And if so, where else in the village could he even go?
No loose ends
Billy is one of the few people in the village that literally has no other family member there. So if anyone’s days are numbered, it’s going to be his.
Most of the villagers all have someone else to turn to; family members or even close friends. But Billy seems like a lone wolf in Emmerdale.
Of course, in the earlier years of Billy’s time in Emmerdale, he had quite a close friendship with Marlon Dingle, who was in a relationship with his mother. But as the years went on it seems the show has moved past their closeness.
However, he has outlasted any of his family members. Both his mum and his brother, Ellis, have appeared on the show for lengthy periods of time. But neither lasted as long as Billy.
So if he were to find out about Dawn and Joe, would he move away to actually be with his family?
Fans have gotten annoyed at Billy and Dawn recently (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale exit evidence: Could Billy die?
Emmerdale kicked off 2025 with a lot of ominous flash-forwards that left us with a lot of questions.
We know there will be a body thrown into the river by an unknown person. And while many assumed that was John getting rid of Anthony’s body – we never actually saw that.
Could Billy find himself embroiled in conflict with someone – Joe perhaps? Or will he begin illegally fighting again and it goes wrong?
Then there was also a hand stuck under the ice. And the hand was wearing a wedding ring. We know the huge ice stunt is coming up very soon. And Emmerdale has teased which cast members are involved. So could Billy be under the ice?
If Billy does die, it opens up even more storylines for Dawn and his family, as she has just recently lost her dad, too. Then on top of mourning, she would be hit with guilt over her affair with Joe…
Will Dawn tell Billy the truth? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale exit evidence: Fan reactions to Emmerdale character Billy
From actively ignoring Dawn’s advice about the boxing with Ross, to refusing to move into Home Farm when they hadn’t anywhere else to go. Billy hasn’t really been the family man he appears make out that he is.
Before she began her affair with Joe, fans were even labelling Billy and Dawn as ‘painfully boring’ as the couple lost the spark they once had.
So with all of the evidence, is Billy’s time in the Emmerdale village coming to an end?
Emmerdale cast member Danny Miller has announced that tickets for his annual charity ball have gone on sale.
Danny, best known for playing bad boy Aaron Dingle, has always been outspoken about his love for helping others. And it was this passion that drove him to create his own organisation help.
Currently Aaron is involved in the huge storyline of Anthony’s murder. He has spent the last week thinking he was the one who killed him. But Thursday night’s episode (January 30) shared the shocking revelation that it was actually Ruby – much to fans’ delight.
However, away from the Dales, way back in 2011, Danny co-founded the Manchester based children’s bereavement charity, Once Upon A Smile, alongside friend and actor, Daniel Jillings.
But what exactly is the charity? And what has Danny said about it? Well here’s a look inside the Emmerdale cast member’s passion for charity work.
Danny began the charity in 2011 (Credit: ITV)
What is Once Upon A Smile?
The charity provides emotional and practical support to bereaved families. And it was formed after it became apparent that there was a lack of support for families who have lost a loved one.
The inspiration came after Danny lost a close friend and Emmerdale producer, Gavin Blyth. Danny has opened up, revealing that Gavin was the one who “took Aaron down the path of struggling with his sexuality.”
For Danny, he felt like he owed Gavin a lot as he was the one who gave him his “big break” in the industry.
He spoke to What to Watch about the impact it had, saying: “I started the charity because a friend of mine passed away. He left behind a lovely young family. I wanted to know what I could do for more families like the Blyths.”

Danny Miller speaks out on charity work
The former I’m A Celebrity winner revealed that he was “in a hole of grief and disbelief” at Gavin’s funeral. But nothing that he felt compared to how Gavin’s family were feeling.
He said: “I wanted to create something that would counter that. Something that would help families become united again. For them to support each other emotionally and practically after bereavement.”
Danny and Daniel made the decision to do the charity together in a “blood brothers” agreement. And for the Emmerdale star, he “feels pride” when he thinks of all that the charity has achieved.
Emmerdale star Danny Miller continues to raise money (Credit: ITV)
The annual ball
One thing they knew that would be difficult is raising awareness and money for the charity. So, they created an annual ball. Which seems to have taken off.
Every year, the charity hosts a ball for those who want to help raise money. Earlier in the week Danny, who is now a dad of two, announced the tickets for 2025’s ball have gone on sale.
Anyone can buy a ticket. And every year it’s a sold out event with appearances from faces from TV and music. The night is full of musical acts, a three-course meal and even a red carpet experience.
Other members of the Emmerdale cast have shown up in support for Danny’s charity every year. And this year is expected to be no different.
In last year’s event, The Emmerdale Band even featured as a musical guest for the evening. This included performances from Dominic Brunt (Paddy Kirk), Katie Hill (Sarah Sugden) and Olivia Bromley (Dawn Fletcher). Not just that, but over 20 cast members showed up to support.
Danny spoke to Yahoo about the Emmerdale support last year. He said: “We have a really big presence of Emmerdale at the ball this year. There are over 20 cast members coming. I’m very excited for that. They’ll be a great part of the night.”
Other Danny Miller charity events
The annual ball isn’t the only event that Danny has done in honour of Once Upon A Smile. In 2020, Danny raised £30,000 by walking a 40-mile journey from Manchester to Anfield.
At the time, his target was £20K, so he achieved more than £10K over this. He took to X at the time to share his gratitude.
Danny wrote: “Swollen eyes is my biggest injury. Just cried and cried last night at so many of your beautiful support messages, donations and generosity.”

Amy Walsh is best known for playing Tracy Robinson in ITV’s Emmerdale. She joined the soap in July 2014. Since then she has remained on the show, only taking a break for maternity leave.
Amy has had some huge storylines over the years during her time in Emmerdale. From starting off as someone who worked in an online chat room, she has gone on to have multiple marriages and found long lost sister, Vanessa, in the village.
And it’s no surprise Amy was able to do brilliantly at the storylines given to her – as it seems talent runs in her family.
But who is the actress behind the character? Well Amy Walsh is a former Celebrity Masterchef contestant, sister of a huge singer and even has a daughter with another famous soap star.

Who is Amy Walsh?
Amy Victoria Walsh is a British actress, best known for playing Tracy Robinson in Emmerdale. The 37-year-old actress joined the soap when she was 26 years old.
She has previously admitted that she actually auditioned for the role of Rachel Breckle, before getting Tracy. But that character ultimately went to Gemma Oaten.
Before Amy joined Emmerdale, she was in the fourth series of Hollyoaks Later, the Channel 4 Hollyoaks spin-off.
Amy’s famous siblings
Amy is the youngest of four children, born to John and Diane Walsh. And it seems she’s not the only one who is in the spotlight.
One of her sisters, Kimberly Walsh, is a member of a huge pop girl group, Girls Aloud. The band recently embarked on a reunion tour, which Amy publicly supported and attended.
But Kimberly isn’t the only famous sibling of Amy’s. Her other sister, Sally Walsh actually featured in Emmerdale way before Amy. From the year 1997 until 2000, Sally played the character Lyn Hutchinson.
The famous sisters were raised in Allerton in Bradford, alongside their brother, Adam.
Amy and Toby-Alexander have been in a relationship since 2020 (Credit: ITV)
Is Amy in a relationship?
Amy went public with her EastEnders star boyfriend Toby-Alexander Smith in 2020.
Toby is best known for his role of Gray Atkins in EastEnders from 2019 until 2022.
While the pair were private with their relationship at the beginning, over time, they have shared more photos with each other.
The couple announced their engagement in 2022, before tying the knot in August 2023.
When was Amy Walsh pregnant?
Amy Walsh was pregnant back in 2021. She and Toby announced that Amy was pregnant in September that year.
Amy had previously revealed she had been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome at the age of 20 and so she was surprised she was able to get pregnant so quickly.
Their daughter, Bonnie Mae was born in December 2021.
Amy took time out of Emmerdale for her maternity leave, but once she came back, she has remained ever since.
She has previously spoke on Lorraine about the struggles of balancing being a new mum and also working as an actress.
Speaking of the difficulty, she said: “I went full throttle into a massive storyline. I barely saw either of them. And then he [Toby] flew to Bulgaria for a film. It’s constantly like that. It is a struggle.
“I don’t have family around me to help. It’s tricky, but you do it.”

Amy Walsh’s career away from Emmerdale
Emmerdale isn’t the only place you may have spotted Amy on your screens over the years.
And it also seems acting isn’t her only talent. In 2023 she took part in the eighteenth series of Celebrity MasterChef. Amy successfully made it right to the final of the show. But just at the end, she lost to Wynne Evans.
A lot of years ago she also featured on an episode of Family Fortunes, as her sister, Kimberly was playing.
It was also announced last year that she would star beside her husband in an upcoming movie – that he wrote himself.
More recently, Amy, alongside Emmerdale and other soap co-stars started their own reality TV show, Drama Queens. Throughout the series, they would allow the cameras a behind the scenes glimpse at their lives away from the soaps.
Emmerdale usually airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, with an early release at 7am on ITVX.
Classic Emmerdale usually airs weekdays at 6am and 6.30am, plus 1.40pm and 2.10pm on ITV3.

Meanwhile, the Chastity Dingle star, 47, shared a snap from the wake of the recent storms, which saw a beloved tree collapse in what appears to be her garden.

Posting an image of the collapse to her Instagram account, Lucy wrote: “150 years this has stood strong. Gutted!” In the pic, the felled tree appears to have smashed the garden fence and children’s play area below.
In the comments below, fans sympathised with Lucy’s loss. Meanwhile, many suggested that she turn the tragedy into something positive.
“Absolutely, however turn it into a positive. Make something wonderful out of the wood. Perhaps a bench or something in the garden so you can still admire its beauty,” wrote one follower.
“Could you get something made from the wood, then plant a sapling? I hope there was no damage to your home,” said another.
“Trun [sic] it into a table and bench make it live on through something positive â¤ï¸” said a third.

With the search for April Windsor heating up in Emmerdale, more police have been brought in to help, and one of them is a familiar face – former Coronation Street star Rhea Bailey.
April went missing on Christmas Day following a tough few weeks for the teen. Viewers saw April get into a mystery car, but there have been no sightings, leaving dad Marlon devastated.
Rhea Bailey appeared in Emmerdale tonight (Monday, December 30) as Anna, the family liaison officer on April’s case. Here’s the lowdown on the star.

Rhea Bailey in Emmerdale – the latest
After Marlon Dingle and Mary Goskirk had conducted yet another search for April, there was a knock at the door. The woman, played by Rhea Bailey, introduced herself as Anna, the family liaison officer.
However, she didn’t have the news the family were hoping for as she informed Marlon, Rhona and Mary that they had no new leads in the search for April.
Anna was interested in April’s state of mind before her disappearance, suggesting that she could have left of her own accord because she was upset after learning the truth about how her mum Donna Windsor died. This theory was supported by the search of the house, where they discovered there was money missing as well as some of April’s belongings.
Marlon lost his temper with Anna on a couple of occasions, but she remained calm as she tried to help the family through the difficult time.
Anna supported the family through an awful time when they were summoned into the hospital when Jacob informed them that a stabbing victim had come into A&E with April’s purse.
Marlon and Rhona were then told that the victim had died, needing to view the body to identify whether it was April or not. The couple didn’t know how to feel when they confirmed that it wasn’t April after all.
Anna apologised to the couple for this ordeal, continuing the quest to find missing April.

Emmerdale star Susan Cookson is set to leave her role as Wendy Posner, new reports have claimed.
According to The Sun, Â the star was axed from the soap rather than choosing to leave, and has already filmed her final scenes.
Wendy was first introduced to the soap in 2019 as the mother of Victoria’s rapist, Lee Posner, and his brother Luke. Her Emmerdale journey looks to have come to an end after just over five years.

Susan Cookson ‘devastated’ at Emmerdale exit
A source told The Sun: “Susan was devastated at the decision. She loves the show and loves being part of it.
“She’s really well liked in the cast but unfortunately budget cuts mean hard decisions need to be made and that resulted in Susan being one of a number of cast leaving.”
The source added that the character of Wendy isn’t ‘inspiring a lot of story’ any more, so ultimately they feel her time is up.
However, the door will be left open for Susan to return as Wendy. With Wendy having a grandson in the village, she would certainly have a reason to visit.

Wendy Posner in Emmerdale
She arrived in the Dales in 2019 to confront Victoria Sugden, who had accused her son Lee of rape. Wendy accused Victoria of lying, not willing to believe that her son was capable of such a thing
Following Lee’s death, thought to be at the hands of Robert Sugden, Wendy eventually accepted that Victoria was telling the truth.
In 2021, Wendy’s other son Luke confessed to her that before Robert attacked Lee, he himself had also attacked Lee. Wendy was torn, knowing Luke could be the real culprit. But ultimately, Robert still remains behind bars.
Wendy begun working at the local surgery and became settled in the village. She started a relationship with Bob Hope, but they split following her affair with Dr Liam.
