4 theories on how Gail Loman will leave Emmerdale 6 years after first appearance

The Emmerdale cast is getting smaller yet again, as Gail Loman, played by Rachael Gill-Davis is reportedly the next star to exit the show.

Gail first showed up on our screens briefly in 2019, before making a permanent comeback in 2023. Now, two years later she looks set to exit the village.

The Sun reported the news alleging that bosses felt her character wasn’t fitting into the village life. They said: “Rachael has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go. Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable.”

But the question remains, how will Gail leave the show? Here’s some theories.

    1. Could she head off to look after her son?

It was revealed that she and Ryan had a son, Oscar. And when Gail found out he needed a bone marrow transplant, she got tested to see if she could help.

Ryan discovered the truth, and Oscar had his surgery, and then wanted to know his parents. Initially his adoptive mum was against the idea, lying to all of them about it. But eventually, Oscar discovered the truth.

He began to visit the village and bonded with family members, until the story abruptly ended and was never picked back up.

So could Gail get news that Oscar needs her help and she leaves the village to help him? If so, would that mean an exit for Ryan too? He would want to help too.

    2. Gail and Ryan break-up?

Other than Ryan, Gail doesn’t have any connections to the village. And so if they were to break-up, there would be nothing there for her anymore.

It wouldn’t be the first time she and Ryan have faced issues in their relationship. So, if this is the case, Gail might realise that the village feels like Ryan’s place, not hers.

This is probably the most likely theory on how she will go. Especially as the village is full of Dingles who are always going to take their own side.

    3. Could Gail die?

While it would be a bold move for Emmerdale to kill of another cast member mere weeks after losing three huge characters, it’s not completely impossible.

We know that Nate’s murderer is still out there ominously sending gifts to Frankie and watching the lake. What would happen if Gail found out the truth? Could Nate’s killer strike again?

Perhaps Gail sees something she shouldn’t or works something out. But if someone is eager to cover their tracks, Gail could be joining Nate under the lake. And as it took months for us to even learn the truth about his death, it could be a while before anyone in the village knew of Gail’s.

    4. Quiet off-screen exit

Unfortunately Gail hasn’t been used enough over the years, despite there being so much potential. And so it could be completely possible that Emmerdale don’t even give her an on-screen send-of.

Perhaps she gets a job offer somewhere else, and has to immediately leave. And if so, she may not have time to say goodbye to everyone. If this is what happens then we might just get a mention of it from someone else in the Woolpack.

This would be unfortunate and wouldn’t do her character right, so we hope this isn’t the case.

  • Wendy’s Emmerdale exit can’t come soon enough – 7 things we won’t miss about her

Wendy’s Emmerdale exit can’t come soon enough – 7 things we won’t miss about her

Wendy Posner’s upcoming exit is looming in Emmerdale. And without meaning to sound harsh – the truth is we really won’t miss her.

From the moment she arrived in the village, she’s got on our wick!

Admittedly, she didn’t cover herself in glory from the off, because she came to Emmerdale to track down Victoria.

Victoria had been raped by Wendy’s son, Lee, and Wendy was convinced she’d made it all up. So she came to Emmerdale to confront her. It took a while, but eventually Wendy admitted she believed Victoria.

But we don’t forgive and forget as easily as Ms Sugden clearly does. And we’re definitely pleased to see the back of Wendy.

Here are all the things we won’t miss about whining, fake nurse Wendy Posner.

Wendy and her fake nursing qualification in Emmerdale

Wendy trained as a nurse, that bit’s true. But when she went to prison she could no longer stay on the nursing register. So she lied about it and used her maiden name for her registration instead. She shouldn’t have been working, and worst of all, Dr Liam knew all about it and just agreed to go along with the lie.

    Her rapist/murderer sons

Not content with defending her rapist son Lee to his victim, Victoria, Wendy is also devoted to her other son Luke – the one she’s gone to live with. That’s Luke, who whacked his brother Lee over the head, contributing to his death, and who kept quiet about it when Robert Sugden was convicted of the crime. Wendy really isn’t winning in the proud mum competition, is she?!

    Her off-kilter moral judgement

With her criminal sons, and gun-toting ex-husband, her fondness for lying, and her sharp-tongue, you’d think Wendy wouldn’t be too quick to judge others. But you’d be wrong. She loved to take the moral high ground.

The memory of Wendy and her affair with Liam in Emmerdale

And if it’s morals we’re talking about, then there’s no better illustration of Wendy’s dubious code of ethics than her affair with Dr Liam Cavanagh. It was steamy and the pair couldn’t get enough of one another. It even involved way too much role play than we’re comfortable with. And it seemed to go on for months, and months. Years even. Or did it just feel that way?

We’re confident that with Wendy out of the village we can erase those memories. Please…

    Her weird rivalry with Brenda

Lies aside, Wendy is an confident, grown-up woman, with lots of life experience, and well, a chequered past. Brenda has run her own business, lost her daughter, battled a brain tumour. You see where we’re going here? They’re both women who have lived a bit. And yet, they seemed to be feuding constantly, msotly about *checks notes* gravy.

    Baffling.

    Her hair slide

Yes, yes we know we shouldn’t comment on anyone’s appearance. But, Wendy’s hairstyles rotated between her little-girl ponytail, and her little-girl half-up with a 1980s hairslide. It was almost a relief when she donned a fascinator as part of her costume drama with Liam. Almost.

Wendy Posner and all her whinging in Emmerdale

Just about all Wendy’s problems were of her own making. But that didn’t stop her wanging on about them, did it? You know who’s really been through the wringer, Wendy? Belle. Chas. Ruby. Moira. Dr Liam. Or, you know, Bob, who’s lost not one, but two of his children. But Wendy out-whinged them all. We definitely won’t miss that!

Finally! Emmerdale fans rejoice as the mystery of ‘Fake nurse Wendy’ is resolved

It’s been a long time coming, but fans finally got their answers about Wendy in Emmerdale.

Wendy’s Emmerdale past has been a huge question mark for fans for a while. Ages ago, it was revealed that she initially lied about her medical qualifications in order to get herself a job. But viewers were led to believe she was going to fix that.

But after, last night’s episode, we’re not so certain she ever did.

Wendy in Emmerdale has a fake background

In the midst of April’s disappearance, Rhona has been worrying about who would have leaked her past to the press. And after Vanessa suggested it had to be someone they knew, Rhona was even more apprehensive.

Later we saw a very guilty looking Wendy trying to avoid spending time with Vanessa. Then, she was cornered by a journalist who demanded more dirt on other villagers for her stories – confirming Wendy was the one who leaked Rhona’s history.

But why is Wendy doing this? It seems the journalist knows more about Wendy than we do. She mentioned that as Wendy failed to disclose her criminal background, her qualification isn’t actually legal. So it seems she suits the fan-given nickname ‘Fake nurse Wendy.’

We still don’t know what exactly her criminal past is, but at least we know she isn’t actually qualified to be doing her job. And fans are happy to have that confirmed after all this time.

Fans rejoice as the truth comes out

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) fans rejoiced at the confirmation, while also noting her double standards.

One wrote: “Fake nurse Wendy is finally caught out!”

Another queried: “Why and how is Wendy still a nurse, anyway?”

A third penned: “Wendy is an unqualified nurse and risking people’s lives. Time for her to get off her moral high horse.”

“Fake nurse Wendy is going to start crying because she feels guilty? Get the buckets ready,” a viewer commented.

However, another fan predicted this might be the thing that tips her and Bob’s relationship over the edge.

They wrote: “Wendy looks extremely guilty. Telling the press might be Bob’s final straw.”

The question remains, what exactly is Wendy’s criminal past? And will Rhona find out it was her?
