What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Caleb confronted Cain over sleeping with Ruby and April was found

A suspicious Caleb Dingle confronted Cain over his alleged affair with Ruby on Emmerdale tonight. Elsewhere, a battered and bruised Marlon hit an all-new low in his search for April. However, a visit from PC Swirling brought some shocking news – April has been found! But in what state is she in?

Elsewhere, manipulative Joe played games with Dawn and Noah, and Cain got to work tidying up his family’s mess.

Here’s everything that happened on Emmerdale tonight, January 3.

Caleb demanded answers in Emmerdale tonight

A stressed-out Moira struggled with the breakfast routine with the kids until Cain stepped in to help. Enjoy that toast, Cain, it’s the last bit of normalcy you’ll have for a while.

Later, things were frosty between Caleb and Chas – and the mood remained tense when Cain arrived, with a grumpy Chas telling him to focus on Moira. Sensing that something was amiss between the pair, he questioned Caleb later.

Backed into a corner, Caleb told him about the work in the garage – and asked him to play along. As Cain demanded to know what was going on, Caleb finally dropped the question which had been playing on his mind since confronting Anthony: “did you sleep with my wife?”

Cain denied it all, of course. Pushing to know where he’d gotten such a story from, Caleb admitted that it had come from Anthony. It was then that the sorry truth came out. He told Cain that Ruby had killed her father and, after a promise that the pair would always have each other’s back, they hugged it out.

    Cain covered Aaron’s tracks

In the pub, a peeved Manpreet confronted Cain over his late-night garage noises. He then stormed over to see Aaron and Chas, tearing them a new one for their carelessness in disposing of the car.

Afterwards, Cain paid a visit to the police station, informing them that he had some information on Anthony’s whereabouts. Whatever he said clearly did the job – with the police closing the investigation after learning that Anthony had been spotted the day after Laurel’s attack.

    Ross confronts Marlon on Emmerdale

Ross tried to get through to Marlon

Rhona and her mum worried about Marlon. He’d been out all night searching for April, and Ross seemed none the wiser. He was clearly covering for Marlon and Leo wasn’t buying it – throwing a shoe at Ross (who throws a shoe?)

The family aren’t coping well, and Mary was starting to worry about the affect Marlon’s quest was having on Rhona and the kids. Where was Marlon amidst all of this? Hiding behind a hedge.

The coast seemingly clear, he returned home – sporting a fresh black eye. Having spotted Marlon skulking home, Ross followed, demanding to know what had happened.

Following a girl he momentarily thought might have been April, Marlon scored a black eye for his trouble. Ross urged Marlon to ease off and take care of his family.

For a moment, it looked like he’d gotten through to Marlon – but succeeded only in getting himself a job as Marlon’s driver.

    April has been found!

The family trouble kept coming as Rhona learn that Leo had gotten in trouble at school for fighting with a schoolmate. The next morning, an exhausted-looking Marlon revealed he’d been out all night again  – alone.

Rhona and Marlon shared a heart-to-heart as he sat despondently in April’s bedroom. Needless to say, he didn’t take it well when she suggested he step back from the search a little for Leo and Ivy’s sake.

Storming off, he paid a visit to Donna’s grave. After brushing off Charles, Marlon was given food for thought from a concerned Paddy. At the surgery, he apologised to Rhona for his behaviour.

Answers were at hand when PC Swirling arrived at the family home with news on April. She’s been found, but the look on PC Swirling’s face suggests that her story won’t be a happy one.

Joe won Dawn over with stories of his painkiller withdrawal (Credit: ITV)

    Joe was playing games

Things were tense between Joe and Dawn. He tried to win her over by bragging about how he was off the painkillers and had just attended his first meeting.

Picking up on the pair’s heavy flirting, Kim warned Joe away from Dawn. Hoping to throw her off the scent, he told her about his painkiller addiction.

Later, he set up a cinema date with Noah. Hanging up on his half-brother, he then logged onto Noah’s trader page and left him a 1-star review for his services as an electrician. “LEFT THE JOB HALF DONE. GOT NASTY WHEN I COMPLAINED. UNSAFE AND AGGRESSIVE. AVOID,” Joe wrote in his finest all-caps.

He was all ears as Noah asked his advice in the Hide. Back at home (farm) his flirting with Dawn continued. Kim wasn’t the only one to pick up on the vibes between the pair – Gabby’s on to them too.

    Also on Emmerdale tonight…

Sarah was dressed up to the nines for a date with Jacob. She was left disappointed when he blew her off for his duties at the hospital. Instead, she swung by the hospital to show Jake what he was missing.

Belle swung by to see Leyla and Suzy on Emmerdale – and decided that the time’s right for her to come back to work. Between Suzy’s lunch plans and her son’s new romance, Leyla is clearly feeling lonely.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Steph found out ‘the truth’ about Anthony as Laurel became even more unbearable

The village got wind of what Anthony Fox is in Emmerdale tonight and it sent Marlon spiralling. As Laurel continued to make things worse with her wittering, Steph found out her grandad was an abuser – but not the whole truth.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Friday January 31.

A version of the truth about Anthony was revealed to Steph in Emmerdale tonight

Caleb wanted him and Ruby to move on. But then the police turned up to talk about missing Anthony.

The cops told Ruby and Caleb what Laurel had said and asked them if they knew where Anthony was. Ruby stuck to the story that Anthony was a free spirit.

When Steph came home, Ruby filled her in on what had happened between Anthony and Laurel. She also told Steph Anthony was capable of violence and that he had abused her when she was a kid – but she didn’t mention the sexual abuse. Ruby claimed he used to beat her.

Steph did not believe her. She refused to entertain the idea and once again stormed off.

Ruby found Steph on a bridge and told her she wasn’t lying. Steph eventually believed her and the two reconciled. The truth obviously hit Steph hard though – so how much longer before she finds out the whole truth?

She later lashed out at Nicola and Laurel about making up lies and they dropped Chas right in it. Caleb assured Chas it would all be fine, but she is sure the house of cards they’ve built will come crashing down sooner rather than later.

And this is Soapland, so chances are Chas is right.

As this storyline continues to get more and more frustrating someone please just tell Steph the truth, we’d all just be a lot happier then. Well, maybe not Steph, but the viewers at least.

Laurel continued to make things worse as Marlon got suspicious

Laurel had been questioned by the police over her confession and released on caution. But she was still wittering on about her guilt. Someone send her on holiday.

She then confided in Bob, which was a mistake because he immediately told the entire Woolpack that there were suspicions Anthony was a paedophile. He thought it might be relevant to April’s disappearance. And so it’s all blown up because Marlon now thinks Anthony has gone missing with April. Nice one, Bob.

Marlon stormed round to see Laurel, he was fuming no one had told him. Laurel insisted they were wrong about Anthony, but Marlon knew something wasn’t right – it’s about time someone realised it, we just never thought it would be Marlon!

Meanwhile, Caleb, Chas, Aaron and John had a secret meeting in the pub back room to make sure they were all covering their tracks. And then Marlon stormed in wanting answers. Caleb tried to talk him down, but Marlon still didn’t believe him. Although he agreed to trust him, Marlon isn’t going to let this go.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Bob was feeling brighter and he thanked Eric for helping him see sense. He and Pollard clearly now share a bond.

So too do Eric and Kerry, who insisted he do yoga with her. The two unlikely friends cemented their status as Eric called her family.

ITV soaps have has been hit with a change to their usual schedule time on Friday January 31- so what time is Emmerdale on tonight?

By now we all know the usual time slot for Emmerdale is 7.30pm on ITV. But that won’t be when you can watch it tonight.

It’s been a dramatic week in the Dales, and we expect the fallout from  Ruby’s revelation last night will play a key part. So make sure you don’t miss the schedule change – as it will air half an hour earlier.

What time is Emmerdale on tonight?

Emmerdale tonight will now air at 7pm, half an hour earlier. This is because of the Rugby Six Nations.

While the match doesn’t kick off until 8.30pm, coverage begins an hour earlier, kicking Emmerdale out of it’s usual spot.

As it’s the first match of the league, we can expect there may be more Emmerdale schedule changes in the coming weeks. Coronation Street is also affected and that won’t air at all.

Of course the episode is already available to view on ITVX, so viewers can actually watch it whenever they like!

    What happens in Emmerdale tonight?

In last night’s episode we saw the truth come out about what actually happened to Anthony.

While up until now viewers were expected to believe Aaron killed him (nobody really believed that, though), it turns out it was actually Ruby.

She found Anthony in the Depot after Aaron had beat him up. And when he tried to touch her, she saw him for the monster he was, and killed him. But when Caleb went to clear the evidence up, he saw John and Aaron had beaten him to it.

So, when Aaron heard this, he, John, Caleb and Ruby all formed a plan on how to keep it quiet. But Laurel had to ruin everything by going to the police station.

We can expect tonight will see the fallout of the reveal, and also of Laurel’s decision.

Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight, Marlon is still determined to find April. But so far, the search has not been going well at all.

And as there still is no update, Marlon makes the decision to raise the reward for information. But all he really manages to do is cause more concern from Rhona, Mary and Ross.

As soap reveals that Ruby killed Anthony, everything that happens next

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale dropped the bombshell news that Ruby killed her abusive father, Anthony. Wracked with guilt because he thought he’d done it, Aaron turned up at her home, determined to confess to killing her father.

As he shared details from his past with Gordon, Aaron broke down and told her that he’d killed her dad. Unable to ease his guilt, Ruby saw no option but to come clean herself – revealing that she had been the one who finished the old man off.

Ruby reveals that she killed Anthony

As Ruby shared the truth, a flashback sequence showed her arriving at the depot after Aaron left. Discovering Anthony broken and bloody on the floor, she was disgusted when he reached out to touch her… and smothered him to death.

Aaron was appalled to discover that Ruby and Caleb – who was in on it – let him believe that he’d killed Anthony. He was ready to explode when she broke down, revealing that Anthony is in fact Steph’s biological father.

The truth is out… but what happens next?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Aaron confessed, but Ruby made an even bigger confession as Anthony’s true killer was exposed

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Aaron confessed, but Ruby made an even bigger confession as Anthony’s true killer was exposed

Emmerdale tonight was a huge twist in the Anthony murder storyline when it turned out Aaron didn’t kill him after all. Of course, viewers had suspected all along someone else had finished the job – and it turned out that someone was Ruby. With Caleb’s help.

But as Aaron, John, Ruby and Caleb came up with a plan to cover everything up, the foursome look set to be derailed after Laurel decided to confess to the police.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Thursday January 30.

The truth about Anthony’s murderer was revealed

    Aaron confessed

Aaron was overwhelmed as John gave him a pep talk about keeping it together. He couldn’t stop thinking about self-harming. So he went to see Ruby, who was desperate to avoid talking to him.

“I’m scared I’m going to do something really bad,” he told her. He confessed he had a history of self-harming and was getting the urges to do it again. Ruby tried to talk him down telling him not to dwell on the past. He told her about Gordon hanging himself and apologised for taking justice away from Ruby.

Aaron then confessed: “I killed him, Ruby, I killed your dad.”

It turned out Ruby was hiding a massive secret too (Credit: ITV)

Ruby confessed who had really killed Anthony in Emmerdale

As he recounted what had happened, Ruby begged him to stop, but then she stopped him with her own bombshell: “You didn’t kill him. I did.”

We flashed back (again) as Ruby told Aaron what had happened. She had found Anthony in a bad way, but still alive. She was going to leave him, but then when he touched her she snapped, grabbed a rag and suffocated him to death.

Aaron was shellshocked that she then allowed him to think he had killed someone. She insisted she had been going to the police, but she couldn’t bring herself to tell her children everything. Ruby told Caleb, who said he would make it all go away.

Caleb went to the depot to clean up, but found out John and Aaron had got there first. Aaron was devastated that they didn’t say anything to him and were trying to frame him.

    Caleb played bad cop

Mid-conversation, Caleb returned and discovered Ruby had confessed and Aaron thought he has been set up for murder.

Caleb played bad cop and said if Aaron reported them all roads led back to him so he’d be landing himself in it. But Ruby broke down and begged Aaron not to go to the police, revealing the truth about Anthony being Steph’s real dad.

    The cover-up completed

Aaron called John and the four of them laid out their next plan. John was obviously furious, but Caleb pointed out they were all culpable and needed to work together to get their stories straight.

John assured them Anthony’s body would not be found. Their story is he’s a free spirit who’s gone off to blow his fortune before he dies.

The only remaining worry was Steph searching for her grandad. But Caleb assured she would give up eventually.

However, then Chas walked in and had overheard the last part of the conversation, so wanted answers. Aaron was adamant he was going to tell Chas the truth. But would she agree to the cover-up?

Laurel ruined everything in Emmerdale tonight

Laurel was still wittering on. Kerry reported to Nicola she’d seen Laurel with a bottle of vodka, so Nicola went to search Laurel’s recycling.

Laurel insisted there was only one bottle and she poured it down the sink. She doesn’t want to go to meetings, she doesn’t want to talk to anyone, she wants to tell her secret. For goodness sake, Laurel, just give it a rest.

She sees it as a decision between confessing and going to prison or starting to drink again.

Nicola found out from Chas that Anthony had supposedly been seen and had just left of his own accord, but she was too late to inform Laurel who was at the police station, confessing she had killed someone.

So she is about to ruin everything for everyone. Bloomin’ Laurel.

Eric and Bob helped each other in Emmerdale tonight

Kerry was still trying to get through to Eric, but he was reluctant to engage with her. He was acting suspiciously and it didn’t take Kerry long to find his stash of arson equipment and realise what he was planning.

Eric insisted it was a victimless crime, but Kerry then confessed she started the fire that killed Frank. Pollard was still determined to go ahead with his plan, just saying he wouldn’t be so stupid as to let anyone get hurt.

Pollard went to visit Val’s gravestone to talk things through, but there he encountered Bob, sobbing. Bob had been avoiding going to see Heath’s headstone due to his overwhelming grief. The two had a heart to heart as Eric encouraged Bob to accept Heath was gone and try to celebrate his life.

Bob later returned home to offer his support to Cathy and told her he was ready to see Heath’s headstone. Together he and Cathy took all of Heath’s favourite foods and celebrated Heath’s life at the graveyard.

It seemed his chat with Bob had helped Eric too as he realised nothing was going to bring Brenda back to him. He was not going to burn down the shop. Fortuntately.

They then told Kyle what they were planning and he was on board with it – as long as it’s a sister.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Guilty Aaron almost gave into his demons as he begged John to let him confess

Emmerdale tonight saw both Aaron and Laurel almost give into their demons as they struggled to cope with Anthony’s demise. They each stopped short of going through with it, but for how much longer can they resist?

Meanwhile, Amy left Matty blindsided with her baby plans and Kerry tried to help Pollard.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Wednesday January 29.

Aaron almost self harmed in Emmerdale tonight

John and Aaron let themselves out of the garage and agreed they had never been there. Tell that to Manpreet, lads. Aaron also wasn’t so keen on forgetting all about it, worried about Ruby.

Back to Manpreet, who was talking to PC Swirling in the cafe. She has been hearing late night noises at the garage. He told her to talk to Cain and if she wanted to report it, she needed to go to Environmental Health not the police. Looks like John and Aaron are in the clear… for now.

Aaron was drinking in the Hide when Ruby arrived and Aaron decided to buy her a beer. Aaron skirted around the issue, wanting to talk about Anthony and her feelings over him. Ruby immediately shut him down and went to leave, just as John arrived.

John stopped Aaron saying any more, but Aaron argued he had robbed Ruby of justice. Emotional blackmail was next on John’s list and that made Aaron stop and think. Although Aaron agreed to keep quiet, he stormed off on John, unhappy with how things were panning out.

So unhappy that, back at home, he was staring at the knives in the kitchen thinking dark thoughts.

Tearfully he picked one up and brought it to his skin. Catching sight of himself in the knife’s reflection, Aaron stopped before cutting himself, but broke down in tears. How much longer can he keep this bottled up?

Matty was faced with a big decision

Matty and Victoria were suspicious of Amy, who was full of the joys of spring and arranging a surprise for Matty. Her surprise was Dale View and she wanted her and Matty to rent it. She then dropped the baby bombshell on him, which left him completely speechless.

He later went to see his mum, but ended up confiding in Cain instead. Matty felt like Amy was making decisions without him. He was worried his child would suffer because of who he is. Cain advised him he would be a good dad and told him nothing else was important if he wanted children.

    Will Matty rethink?

    Laurel almost relapsed

Laurel had bought half the supermarket so the kids were stocked up for when she went to prison. She told Nicola she was going to confess to Ruby and Steph – or go to the police.

Laurel decided the church was her first port of call, where Charles offered to talk, but she decided the church was not the answer after all. What was the answer, she realised, was the booze. Or at least she thought it was, opened the bottle, sniffed it and then poured it all away.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Bob was shaken by the news Heath’s headstone was being erected tomorrow. He confided once again in Manpreet.

Elsewhere, Kerry was worried about Pollard, and Amy advised she get him doing yoga. Apparently, Val used to do it with him and he loved it. Kerry approached him with yoga mats in the shop, but Eric refused.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: John thought he and Aaron were ‘home and dry’, but then Manpreet caught him out

In Emmerdale tonight Anthony’s murder was still playing on everyone’s mind as John continued his ‘clean-up’ operation.

Meanwhile, Steph was getting on everyone’s nerves (well, ours at least) and Chas was forced to backtrack, sending Laurel spiralling.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Tuesday January 28.

The fallout from Anthony’s death continued in Emmerdale tonight

John continued to cover up evidence

Aaron was beside himself (still) and John was playing protector (still), insisting that he cleaned up so well, they’d never be connected to the depot.

John popped up to the depot just to find out what was going on with the police being there. He pretended he was doing a health and safety initiative and spotted Anthony’s tooth. But just as he was about to pick it up, Caleb saw him and wanted answers. John spun his defibrillator lie and Caleb bought it, but the tooth remained – until Kerry hoovered it up.

Meanwhile, Jai was on a mission to find out who took the £200 from the petty cash – and it turned out Caleb had. PC Swirling was not impressed with Jai’s officious attitude – and that he had wasted police time.

John was pretty happy to have overheard the news though and went to report to Aaron. But as they talked about having got away with it once Aaron had finished dismantling the car, someone was listening. Manpreet heard it all as John said they were “Home and dry”. But does she know enough to incriminate them? And will John ‘dispose’ of her as well?

    Steph grew increasingly irritating

Steph was wildly panicking about Anthony and leaving him desperate voice messages. She went to get sympathy from Chas, who wasn’t very sympathetic at all, so Steph stomped off. The teenager routine is getting really tired.

Caleb and Ruby were trying to find a way to keep Steph off the trail of Anthony. But she remained determined and has decided to head to Chiswick to find him.

Chas forced to take back her ‘lie’

Chas then went to see Ruby and confessed she had told Nicola and Laurel about Anthony. Ruby insisted Chas take it back and tell them she got it wrong. She can’t risk Steph finding out.

Ruby later encountered Angelica in the shop and asked questions about Anthony’s tutoring. She was relieved to realise nothing untoward had happened.

Chas then went to find Nicola and told her she had got the wrong end of the stick. Laurel was obviously aghast at the news and thinks she’s going to burn in hell. Not if we get to her first for this excessive whining.

Amy wanted a baby in Emmerdale tonight

Amy went to see Tracy to offer to babysit Frankie – awkward given Amy killed Tracy’s dad. But Tracy managed to forget that fact (again) and sent Frankie off with Amy.

Moira joined them and noticed Amy was getting broody. Amy tried to play it down, saying it was complicated, but Moira encouraged her to talk to Matty about it.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight

Pollard was interested in Brenda living at the B&B and questioned an awkward Bob. He was then in a bit of a state when the estate agent called and tried to persuade him to drop the price of the shop. Kerry overheard him on the phone and realised things weren’t okay. But she couldn’t quite make it better, leaving Pollard thoughtful.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Aaron and John covered their tracks as Steph worried about Anthony

In Emmerdale tonight, Aaron and John set about faking Anthony’s exit from the village. Anthony is certainly gone and won’t be coming back – but certainly not of his own volition, having been murdered by Aaron, and disposed of by John.

Realising that it wouldn’t be long before people start asking questions, the pair did away with his car and possessions, making his family think that he’d scarpered instead of being killed. But the reality of the situation hit home as Aaron began stripping the car.

Elsewhere, a famous face popped into the Hide, Jai launched an investigation, and Bob confided in Manpreet. And, as Moira stepped in to look after little Frankie, she dozed off, putting the youth in peril.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, January 27.

Aaron and John got to work in Emmerdale tonight

Still trying to bury the evidence of Aaron murdering Anthony, he and John had some work to do. Anthony’s passport and car keys needed to be snuck out of the house and the car scrapped.

As Steph and Caleb left for work, John rushed Ruby out of the house, spinning a tale of a gas leak in the area. As Aaron cleared the evidence, John kept her distracted at the Hide.

Back at home, Aaron was interrupted by Caleb just as he was about to leave with the bag of Anthony’s things. He managed to stay hidden, but it was a close call there for a while.

Providence struck when they learned that Cain was planning on closing the garage to look after Moira. Somehow sneaking Anthony’s car in without anyone noticing, the pair set about stripping the vehicle.

It was in the glovebox that Aaron discovered a mix tape made by Steph, and suffered a crisis of conscience. Can he hold his nerve?

Oblivious Laurel had a celebrity visitor

In the Hide, a familiar face thanked Laurel for a lovely cup of tea. Some might recognise this figure as UK parliamentary speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle – although Laurel didn’t seem to.

Still, she had a lot on her mind, fretting over whether or not she and Nicola were responsible for Anthony’s disappearance. Her jittery behaviour only seemed to irritate Ruby, which made Laurel even more spooked.

As Nicola tried to calm her down, she wondered whether the Hide – with all its bottles of booze – might be the best place for recovering alcoholic Laurel to be working.

    Jai launched an investigation

At work, Jai admonished the staff at the depot, informing them that £200 was missing from the office – and implying that it had been an inside job. This earned him some derision from Billy and Kerry – who noted that he had been the one who left the door open in the first place.

He implemented a bag search policy, but Kerry was quick to point out that he didn’t have a leg to stand on.

    Bob confided in Manpreet

Bob paid a visit to the cafe, rousing suspicions with his odd behaviour. Realising that things were amiss between Bob and Brenda, Manpreet prodded him for answers.

Later, she got to the truth of the matter, as he admitted that he’d tried to kiss Brenda. She advised him to let sleeping dogs lie, but will Bob heed her advice?

    Moira snoozed on the job

Tracy swung by with Frankie to pay a visit to Moira. When a shift came up at work, Moira offered to look after Frankie. However, it wasn’t long before exhausted Moira dozed off – and Frankie took the opportunity to fix her a cup of tea.

Amy and Matty walked in to find the youngster fiddling with the stove – so Amy stepped in to help look after Frankie.

Steph worried about Anthony in Emmerdale tonight

Steph fretted about her missing grandfather. Discovering his car gone, Steph was alarmed – and immediately started accusing her mother of driving him away. Caleb leapt to Ruby’s defence, describing Anthony as ‘spiteful’ and suggesting he’d left as a means of punishing his family.

Who’s that in the Hide? UK Politician Sir Lindsay Hoyle visits Emmerdale tonight for special cameo

A senior UK politician makes an unexpected cameo in Emmerdale tonight – with Sir Lindsay Hoyle popping by the Hide for a fresh cuppa.

The Speaker of the House of Commons previously spoke of the importance of soaps such as Emmerdale and Coronation Street. He described them as “an important part of the fabric of British society and the economic contribution they bring to the North”.

The Chorley MP paid a visit to the show’s set while touring the studios and production base near Leeds city centre. And, while he was there, he even filmed a cameo for tonight’s episode.

A very different kind of ‘order’ as he hit Laurel up for a cup of tea. But what brings Sir Lindsay to Emmerdale?

Dressed in a tweed jacket and wellington boots, Sir Lindsay takes a diversion from his hike to order a cup of tea in the Hide. While there, he compliments Laurel on a good cup of Yorkshire tea.

Sir Lindsay described the great importance of Emmerdale to British culture. He said: “Incredibly, Emmerdale has been on our screens for more than half a century. Shining a light on the lived experience of others; entertaining viewers with its hard-hitting storylines, while also making a major economic contribution to the North.”

He continued: “It has been an honour to help the cast celebrate the 10,000th episode of this enduring Yorkshire-based soap, with a visit to the Woolpack. As a Lancastrian, I am hugely impressed by the talent and warmth of our friends on ‘the other side’ of the Pennines.”

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Aaron falling apart as Steph edged closer to the truth

In Emmerdale tonight Aaron couldn’t pretend everything was normal so John had to act. Can he keep it together and cover up the evidence?

Meanwhile, Laurel was also spiralling and Nicola struggled to contain her as Steph remained determined to get to the truth about Anthony’s disappearance.

John kicked struggling Aaron into touch in Emmerdale tonight

Aaron was out trying to run the guilt off himself. John was worried about where he was and Aaron tried to be glib and pretend he was fine. John later cornered Aaron at work wanting to know how he was feeling, but Aaron brushed him off.

John insisted they had to act normal and go to the pub to make it seem like everything was okay. And that’s where they heard Steph say Anthony’s car was behind the pub so he couldn’t have gone anywhere.

Elsewhere, Leyla revealed she’d seen Anthony with a head injury, so panicked Steph decided to organise a search party.

She went to the hospital and coincidentally asked the same nurse Nicola had seen if Anthony had been in. The nurse described a blonde woman also asking after Anthony, which made Steph assume Ruby had been there too and later confronted her mum.

Aaron was horrified to overhear their conversation and rushed out. John tried to calm him down, but Aaron spiralled and shouted there was no way he’d ever get away with this.

John yelled at him to calm him down. He told him they would deal with this together – move Anthony’s stuff and get rid of the car to make it look like he’d returned and left again.

“Get a grip,” he told Aaron. But can Aaron really hold it together?

Joe Tate continued to plot – but Kim’s on to him

Joe was on the phone to his mystery caller saying things weren’t good, he was tired and stressed – and Kim was listening in.

Meanwhile, Dawn was pouring coffee and was in a strop with Joe for blackmailing her. He claimed he’d reached out to someone about his problem and was getting help.

Noah was celebrating possibly winning a contract and being able to set up his own business. Joe overheard and swooped in with pictures of Dubai, wanting Noah’s help with the electricals over there.

He then went home and found Dawn, seducing her into kissing him again. Kim was listening in, but as they were in the nursery, she couldn’t hear them. This time.

Dawn pushed Joe off and told him to leave her alone. But she isn’t going to resist his charms for long.

The walls closed in on Laurel in Emmerdale tonight

Laurel was trying to pray her guilt away. But it didn’t really help.

Nicola fished for info on Anthony from Steph and worried he still hadn’t turned up.

Back at home, Laurel was wittering on again about how scared she was. Nicola was getting fed up of her (she’s not the only one) and told her Anthony had walked away alive, so it wasn’t their fault. But will Laurel stop spiralling?
