A new Emmerdale fan theory has suggested that there could be a particularly tragic end to Cain Dingle’s story this year – with the village hardman potentially set to tackle depression and even a suicide attempt.
Recent weeks have seen Cain wrestle with his fear of losing Moira, And, as she underwent surgery for her brain tumour, Cain spiralled out of control, drinking heavily in the garage.

Tormented Cain cheated on Moira with Ruby
As his mood worsened, a drunk and moody Cain lashed out – beating up Jimmy and verbally bashing Caleb. But there was worse to come. And, as Ruby slunk into the garage (nobody can quite figure out why) the pair slept together.
Last night’s episode of the soap (Thursday, November 21) saw Cain continue to struggle with what he had done, his sense of guilt getting the better of him as Moira lay recovering in hospital.
How will Cain cope in the weeks to come?

Cain to battle depression, new fan theory predicts on Emmerdale
As Cain continues to struggle with what he’s done, fans have predicted that he may be headed down a dark path. Are even darker days ahead for Cain?
“So are we going with divorce, a Xmas pregnancy or Cain going down the depression and suicide route?,” asked one fan.
“Cain needs to get his thoughts/feelings in check. Cheating aside, we can all see he has been struggling for weeks now,” another said.
“Moira undergoing brain surgery & Cain hits the self-destruct-poor-me, default button whenever the going gets tough. It’ll blow up in his face that’s for sure. It beggars belief he chose to lie down with Ruby who has her own demons,” said a third.
“Do the writers just hate the Dingles now?” asked a fourth. “How they handled Belle’s DV storyline, having Aaron be with his ex-husband’s long lost half-brother, sending Seb to live with someone else and now Cain betraying Moira with Ruby???”
Can Cain come to terms with what he’s done? Or, is a tragic future ahead for him?

Emmerdale fans were left fuming as Tom King managed to swindle his way back into work. Tom had been on suspension after Belle’s allegations against him became public knowledge – with bosses Paddy, Vanessa and Rhona believing her without hesitation.
However, Tom wouldn’t take losing his job lying down – first threatening to sue for unfair dismissal, and then threatening Paddy. Last Friday’s episode saw Tom tell Paddy that he’d air all the vets’ dirty laundry if he didn’t get his job back.
Chief among his employers’ supposed crimes was their not charging the Dingles for their bills. This, Tom felt would surely destroy the business if people found out. And it seems Paddy agreed, as Tom was back to work at the surgery this week.
In last night’s episode (airing Thursday, November 22), Tom clashed with Vanessa, who was not best pleased to be working with an abuser again.

Emmerdale fans confused as Tom muscles back into work
As these scenes aired, fans were left wondering how Tom managed to get his job back in the first place. And several pointed out that, actually, that’s not how the law works.
“I wish the writers understood employment law. The vet can get rid of Tom for no reason, so long as it’s not for a protected characteristic (i.e his gender, sexuality, ethnicity etc) if he’s been there under two years. There is no reason they have to put up with him,” one fan pointed out on Reddit.
“That’s not fraud. Paddy is a co-owner. He can charge what he wants. All the more reason to tell Tom to [bleep] off,” another fan said, pointing out a flaw in Tom’s blackmail of Paddy.
“Even if they needed a reason [to fire Tom] they can easily just go ‘we’re worried about our finances so we let go Tom and Ella’,” a third viewer suggested.
“His intimidating behaviour alone should be enough to get rid of him,” said a fourth.

Fans of Emmerdale rejoiced last night as newcomer Steph Miligan made her mark by putting Jai Sharma in his place. This came as she scored a job working at her dad’s haulage business – a bit of nepotism effectively making her Jai’s boss.
After hooking up with Ross, she then clashed with Jai as he admonished her for ‘borrowing’ one of their trucks. Reading him the riot act, Steph showed that she wasn’t one to be messed with.
“I’m not a cog, I think I’m pretty much your boss,” a no-nonsense Steph snapped, “so if I decide to do something, I don’t need to get your permission first. Is that understood?”
Message well and truly nailed home, a humiliated Jai slunk off to lick his wounds. And Steph basked in her glory, winning the approval of a clearly-impressed Chas, who had witnessed the exchange.
Fans too, couldn’t get enough of Steph’s treatment of Jai.

Emmerdale fans cheer on Steph as she ‘roasts’ Jai
As the episode aired, fans took to X to celebrate Steph‘s victory over Jai.
“The way that Steph put Jai in his place! whewww,” wrote one fan.
“Steph roasting Jai in front of everyone,” applauded another with clapping emojis.
“Steph putting idiot Jai in his place,” laughed a third.
“I’d pack up and leave after that rinsing, Jai,” agreed another viewer.
Well, that told him.
Steph had a big surprise for Ross (Credit: ITV)
Steph hooks up with Ross as his scheme with Jai goes awry
Elsewhere in the episode, Steph hooked up with Ross after he attempted to steal one of her dad’s trucks. Conspiring with Jai, Ross stole a van full of goods, which he unpacked in an isolated barn.
However, he got more than he bargained for when he opened up to find Steph lurking inside. After a simmering back-and-forth, the pair gave in to mutual attraction, and hooked up in the back of the van.
Foiling Ross and Jai’s scheme, she then drove the van back to the yard herself. The rest, as they say, is history.

Emmerdale tonight saw Cain Dingle feeling really sorry for himself and Ruby doing a really bad job of keeping their liaison a secret.
Meanwhile, Tom continued to try and manipulate everyone, but neither Nicola nor Vanessa were giving him an inch. Jimmy’s still an idiot, though.
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Thursday November 21.
Cain and Ruby struggled with their secret in Emmerdale tonight
Cain was by Moira’s side, but he felt guilty (Credit: ITV)
Things weren’t going well for Cain
Cain sat by Moira’s beside having flashbacks to what happened the day before. Charity later checked in on Cain, trying to get him to open up, she promised not to judge… Cain confessed he had done something very stupid. But he only told her he had beaten up Jimmy. Then he cryptically told her to keep hold of Mack and not mess it up. However, he still didn’t confess what had happened with Ruby.
The police turned up to arrest Cain while he was at Moira’s hospital bedside. Not sure they would do that, but then again it wasn’t PC Swirling or DS Foy, so who knows who these other cops are! At the station, Cain went with the ‘no comment’ angle and soon he was back at the hospital.
Moira then found out she had to wait a few weeks for the results of her biopsy. She may continue to have seizures and will be emotionally vulnerable. The doctor took Cain aside and insisted someone needed to be there for her, to which he promised he would be that person.
Cain and Ruby then met in the village and traded more insults about whose fault it was. All this arguing in the street might just cost them their secret, if you ask us…
Things weren’t much better for Ruby (Credit: ITV)
Ruby messed up
Ruby was doing her make-up and didn’t sleep. Guilty conscience glaringly obvious or what?!
Meanwhile, Caleb assumed it was all about her dad and encouraged her to speak to Anthony and say what she needs to, while she has the chance.
Anthony and Steph were in the cafe, when Ruby entered and asked for a word alone with her father. Ruby told him to leave and never come back. He seemed to agree very easily. So what’s going on here?
Steph was not happy to hear Anthony was off to Portsmouth and immediately laid into Ruby. Ruby desperately tried to make Steph see Anthony was a bad man, but Steph stayed firm and then Caleb took Steph’s side and devastated Ruby stalked off.
Steph then agreed to take Caleb’s job offer, but she needed to read the small print first, he commented she wouldn’t be his daughter if she didn’t. And we might be jumping to conclusions, but we’re just not convinced Steph is Caleb’s daughter.
Caleb then found the morning after pill in the bin. He went to discuss it with Cain and just as Cain was about to confess, Caleb said he thought it was Steph’s after she slept with Ross.
Relieved Cain told Caleb to leave it alone and Caleb decided he was right. Cain has dodged a bullet at this point after Ruby’s mistake, but for how much longer?
Jimmy won Nicola’s sympathy, but not ours (Credit: ITV)
Nicola moved back in and Tom continued his tricks in Emmerdale tonight
Battered and bruised Jimmy was seeking sympathy after Cain attacked him. He got it from both Nicola and Laurel. Not from us, though!
Nicola promised to always be there for Jimmy and she decided she and the kids would move back home. She insisted Jimmy called the police on Cain, though.
Meanwhile, Tom was at the vets trying to make small talk with Vanessa. But she wasn’t interested in having any sort of conversation with him. In fact, she let him know she knew exactly who and what he was.
Tom continued to try and intimidate her and take over her appointments, but Vanessa stayed strong. He kept trying to manipulate her, making subtle threats about employment tribunals. However Vanessa was not even remotely bothered by him and his pathetic behaviour. We’ve never liked her so much.
When he returned home Nicola was very clear she hadn’t forgiven him and she still didn’t believe him. The walls are closing in on Tom, that’s for sure…
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Kim wants Will gone, he’s not budging and it’s all a bit boring (Credit: ITV)
The Kim and Will saga dragged on
Kim and Will are still trading barbed comments at Home Farm. Will has seen his solicitor and thinks mediation is a good idea. Kim does not. Instead she offered him £100k – a first and final offer – she wants Will gone and this is what she thinks it will take.
Will wasn’t going anywhere though and told her the answer was no. Then Dawn turned up to whinge about her problems some more. But she told Will he was in the wrong over Kim and he should have taken the £100k. He promised her, she wouldn’t have to worry about money ever again.
Steph surprised Ross (Credit: ITV)
Ross and Jai’s robbery went wrong
Ross and Jai started doing their dodgy dealings in the cafe, and they weren’t talking particularly quietly, but they are plotting to steal all the mobile phones in Yorkshire as they come through Caleb’s depot.
Jai kept watch while Ross snuck in and stole a van. He drove it off to an empty barn with the music blaring, but the smug grin was wiped off his face when he opened the back door to find Steph there.
Ross claimed he had taken the van to check the brakes for Jai. She accused him of theft and kidnap as he tried to talk his way out of it, but she ended up kissing him. She even gave him one box of mobile phones for his efforts. But they turned out to be a box full of dancing Father Christmas’s. Oops.

Last night’s episode of Emmerdale aired a massive bombshell as Cain Dingle cheated on wife Moira with his own sister-in-law, Ruby. Between this and his beating up Jimmy, it was something of a return to form for Cain, who’s been playing the role of doting husband for a few years now.
However, cheating with Ruby isn’t the only mistake Cain’s made over the years. Here’s a look back the many notches on Cain Dingle’s bedpost.

Cain arrives in Emmerdale and seduces Angie and Ollie Reynolds
Cain first arrived on the scene in the year 2000 for the funeral of cousin Butch. Holding local police officer Angie Reynolds responsible for Butch’s death, Cain set out on a mission of revenge. This involved his seducing Angie – and her teenage daughter Ollie (aged only 15 years old!) too.
Cain and Angie’s toxic love-hate relationship ultimately led to her death; getting her killed in a car crash as they attempted to steal a truck together (a set up in which she hoped to have Cain sent down). Ollie left the village soon after, heading off to University in Manchester, never to return.
Cain’s sleeping with an underage girl has largely been brushed under the carpet too… although it wasn’t the only time…

Kissing cousins – Charity Dingle
Moira aside, Cain’s most notable love is cousin Charity, with whom he had a fling when they were 13 and 14, respectively. This union resulted in the birth of their daughter, Debbie.
After reconnecting with her parents, Debbie’s return into Charity and Cain’s life inspired them to give things another go. The pair embarked upon a tumultuous off-again, on-again relationship which included a 2005 break-up, 2009 proposal, and 2016 affair.

A bit of posh, Sadie King
Cain’s next toxic tryst was with manipulative Sadie King, wife of Jimmy. Her intense hatred of Charity – who, at the time, was set to marry Tom King – led to her tasking Cain (who she was also sleeping with at the time) with seducing his cousin and stopping the wedding.
Although they were successful in breaking up Tom and Charity, the plot backfired when Charity turned the tables, seducing Jimmy and sharing evidence of Sadie’s scheming with a furious Tom.
Not even Cain murdering her beloved dog in a fit of jealousy could break their bond. They later joined forces to kidnap Tom in their latest get rich scheme. However, this too backfired on Sadie, who was left with nothing when Cain fled, taking all the cash with him.
Using Jasmine Thomas to get back at Debbie
In addition to another creepy age difference, sixteen-year-old Jasmine Thomas was also his daughter’s girlfriend. Cain seduced her in a cruel attempt to get back at Debbie – and she fell pregnant soon afterwards.
Cain was left heartbroken when he learned that Jasmine went through with an abortion – funded by Sadie.
Maisie Wylde dishes the dirt
In 2009, Cain embarked upon a relationship with barmaid Maisie Wylde – although this was really just a pretext for him to get the dirt on her dad, millionaire Mark Wylde. Having gotten what he’d needed, he then ended things with her, leaving her heartbroken.

Emmerdale schemer Faye Lamb seduces Cain
Cain’s vendetta continued with the arrival of Mark’s secret wife, Faye. The pair briefly hooked up after she took on a PA job at the Sharmas’ sweet factory, but he ended it after realising that she was only using him to make Mark jealous.

Amy Wyatt and the birth of baby Kyle
During his latest break-up with Charity, Cain went on the rebound, hooking up with teenager Amy Wyatt in 2010. Their brief union resulted in the birth of their son, Kyle – despite Cain’s insistence otherwise.
Threatening Amy, he tried to bully her into getting an abortion, only for her to find out that she was too far gone for the procedure. She gave birth in 2011. Kyle fell into Cain’s care after the youth’s adoptive parents and grandmother died – reuniting with his mother when she returned to the soap in 2019.

Priya Kotecha gets the ick
In 2011, Cain began a casual relationship with Priya Kotecha. This soon hit the rocks when her brother, Jai, tried to convince her that Cain had only seduced her as a means to destroy their family. Priya shrugged off her brother’s paranoia, but ended things with Cain after learning that he’d gotten sixteen-year-old Amy pregnant. Gross.

Emmerdale: the love of Cain Dingle’s life, Moira Dingle
In 2011, Cain began his latest affair, sleeping with married farmer Moira Barton. While you’d be forgiven for thinking that this was another doomed fling, Cain’s relationship with Moira turned into the greatest love of his life.
Resuming their relationship after her husband died in 2012, the pair got married within two years, and have been inseparable ever since. Sure, he did have two affairs (once with Charity, then with vicar Harriet Finch), and she cheated on him with his long-lost son, but Cain and Moira are one of the soap’s strongest couples.
He stuck by her side after doctors diagnosed her with a brain tumour, only flinching at the last minute to have another affair, this time with his own sister-in-law, Ruby.

Viewers were left shell-shocked by last night’s episode (airing Wednesday, November 20) as Cain marked the occasion of wife Moira undergoing brain surgery by, uh, cheating on her with his sister-in-law, Ruby.
Cain’s messed up big time (Credit: ITV)
Cain cheats on Moira with Ruby
Soap fans watched aghast as Cain fell into bed (or the back of a car?) with Ruby after an argument turned unexpectedly steamy.
He then rushed to the hospital where Moira was recovering from surgery, and in good spirits after dreaming up a comforting conversation with dead daughter Holly. Her good mood surely won’t last though – the truth will always come out, and Moira is bound to learn what Cain and Ruby did sooner or later.
But what does this mean for Moira and Cain?

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb reveals what’s next for Cain and Moira
Speaking on Cain and Moira’s future, actor Natalie J Robb – who plays Moira on the soap – recently told Emmerdale Insider and other media: “I think it’s really important that they stay together.”
She continued: “Marriages go through things. There’s temptation. There’s things that can happen. If everybody just gave up after the first hurdle of a marriage, people would just not get married now. It’s so easy to get out of marriages now.
“A lot of people do go through things, affairs, different things, financial problems. There could be lots of things that happen that pull you apart but then things can push you together again, which I think is nice to play.”

In Emmerdale spoilers for tonight (Thursday, November 21), a desperate Kim attempts to buy Will out of their marriage, offering him a massive sum of money to get out for good. It’s a shock to Will, who had hoped that things with his wife were just getting back on track.
Will he accept Kim’s offer?
Elsewhere, Ross and Jai conspire to steal from the depot. Sneaking in while Jai runs distraction, Ross steals one of Caleb’s trucks. However, he gets more than he bargained for when Steph gets involved – and demands to know what he’s up to. How will she react when she learns that he’s stealing from her dad?
Will feels hopeful that he might get his marriage on track by going to mediation with Kim Tate. However, his wife has other ideas – and offers him £100,000 to get out of her life as quickly as possible.
Later, when Dawn tells Will about her and Billy’s money woes, he promises her that she won’t have to worry about money ever again – standing firm in his ground in his battle with Kim. Will he take Kim’s money?

2. Ross gets more than he bargained for
As they set their plan into action, Jai tells Ross Barton about some merchandise that’s coming into the depot. While Jai distracts Kerry, Ross sneaks in and steals one of the vans.
He pulls into a barn to unload the loot – and is horrified to see Steph in the back of the van, demanding to know what he’s up to. Can Ross talk his way out of this one?

Fans have been left annoyed as the latest Emmerdale episode featured a very abrupt ending. The ITV show appeared to be cut short, leaving many annoyed and curious.
Throughout the show, Moira kept telling Cain he should prepare for the worst, but in true Cain fashion, he refused to even consider that was an option.
After Moira checked that he knew where her will was in an emotional conversation, Cain stormed out of the house.
His wife went to the one person she knew could get through to Cain; Chas Dingle. She had a similar conversation with her, asking her sister-in-law to look out for her family if anything were to happen to her.
Chas agreed to this request, and the pair shared a teary-eyed hug. But when viewers next saw Cain, things looked a tad suspicious.
Cain was in the garage and it seemed like there was something in the boot of his car. He stood holding the boot open, clearly emotional.

Fans slam abrupt Emmerdale episode ending
But before anyone had a chance to process the scene, the theme tune came on and the credits rolled. Many fans thought the Emmerdale episode had quite a sudden ending.
Taking to social media, one wrote: “That felt like a very sudden ending. Was the episode cut short?”
Another echoed: “Feels like there should have been more to that Emmerdale episode. How come it ended so abruptly?”
“How dare ITV cut Cain’s scene like that…” said one more
Many others agreed that the final scene should have played out longer, questioning why exactly ITV cut it short.
While the scene is still very quick on the ITVX version, it appears to last a tad longer than the live TV version last night. So it seems that it was cut short for an unknown reason.

The episode set up tonight’s beautifully crafted special episode that centres around Moira finally getting her brain surgery.
No stranger to a unique structure, tonight’s Emmerdale follows the day of the procedure – but Cain’s day is told in reverse chronological order.
So the question remains, was Cain hiding something in his boot? Or was he just emotional over Moira’s procedure? And how will he cope when she goes in for surgery?

A new fan theory predicts Ruby Miligan in Emmerdale may have been abused by her father, Anthony. And viewers are now questioning if Steph is really Caleb Miligan‘s daughter at all.
Emmerdale has been getting some new additions recently as Ruby’s dad Anthony, and her daughter, Steph Miligan, have arrived in the village.
Ruby’s family life seems to be nothing but drama. Steph revealed she didn’t want a relationship with her parents, and instead only wanted her inheritance from Ruby’s dead mum.
But in last night’s episode of Emmerdale (November 19), Steph tricked her mum into meeting with Anthony, by pretending she wanted to chat.
It was immediately clear there is a lot of history between Ruby and Anthony, but could it be something more sinister?

Emmerdale:Â Ruby has ‘sinister’ past with Anthony, fans predict
Viewers found out Ruby’s parents wanted her to have a termination instead of going through with her pregnancy. But after her reaction to him being back in the village, many think there is something else going on.
Ruby had a very extreme reaction to seeing Anthony again, making it clear she will never forgive him. Then when Caleb gave her the box which Anthony had tried to earlier that day, she got angry at her husband.
Taking to social media after last night’s episode, fans speculated.
One wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Ruby despises her dad, but why? Is there something far more sinister? He’s creepy?”
Another penned: “Are they going to do a Ruby’s daughter is also her sister type of storyline and that’s really why she hates her dad so much?”

“No way is that the reaction of someone who was told to leave home because they got pregnant. That seems to be the reaction of someone who’s been abused. Is he Steph’s dad, not grandad?”
If the fan theory is true then it makes sense why Ruby reacted in that way towards her father. And if so, will she ever open up to Caleb?
