With his health in decline, could an Emmerdale exit be imminent?

Leyla sends Pollard a message from the grave
Whilst in the midst of a drug addiction years ago, Leyla Harding feared she might die, so she wrote letters and planned her funeral.
Although her death came about as a result of a limo crash rather than drugs, the funeral plans were still used.
It was an especially emotional day for Pollard, who saw Leyla and fellow victim Amy as daughters. He shared with Tracy that he felt guilty for still being alive.
“Incredible, isn’t it? Doddery old fella like me past his threescore and ten, and I’m burying two bright, vibrant young people. I shall never understand this life,” he said.
At the wake, it was revealed that Leyla really had gone to town on the planning and many of the guests received their own fortune cookie containing personalised messages.Â
Pollard opened his fortune cookie to reveal the message: “See you soon.” He jokingly responded, “cheek!”
Pollard has struggled since his diagnosis (Credit: ITV)
Did Emmerdale hint at Pollard’s death?
Viewers know that back in 2023, Pollard was diagnosed with Parkinson’s after experiencing numbness and tingling.
Since then, the story has been revisited on various occasions, with producer Laura Shaw explaining: “The unique position of a show like Emmerdale means we can tell this story really authentically over a long period of time and we can really shine a light on what a diagnosis like this means and follow Pollard on his journey of learning to live with it.”
Scenes towards the end of last year had fans concerned that the end was near for Emmerdale’s longest serving character after there was a shortage in the medication Pollard needed.
He lived to fight another day, but now with Leyla’s message, should we be concerned that Emmerdale is setting us up once again to say goodbye to Eric Pollard?

April’s friend from the streets, Dylan, is currently staying in Emmerdale and fans have predicted that he will be a new love interest for Arthur.
April Windsor met Dylan when she run away from home over Christmas, and stayed with him in a derelict house, which doubled up as a squat.
Dylan is now staying with April and her family, but could he settle in the village and find love? Fans think so.

Dylan in Emmerdale
We first saw Dylan during the special episode last month, which detailed April’s time on the streets. Dylan rescued April from the clutches of a pervert and allowed her to stay with him in a derelict house.
Despite being safely back home for a few weeks now, April has still been struggling to adjust. Earlier this week she went back to the squat to catch up with Dylan.
Dylan was in a bad way, but insisted April go back home to her family. However, April invited Dylan to Emmerdale and the following day he turned up.
After being wrestled to the ground by Ross, who was certain Dylan was on something, April invited him in. She also managed to convince her dad to let him stay for the night.
Yesterday’s episode saw the one night extended to a few after Marlon felt guilty for wrongly accusing Dylan of theft.
But could Dylan’s stay be even more permanent than that?

Dylan and Arthur to get together in Emmerdale?
Arthur Thomas has been fairly absent on screen of late, but fans are predicting that he could have a new story coming up.
One fan wrote on X: “So April is avoiding Arthur… I reckon Arthur forms a crush on Dylan, April gets mad and tells Arthur about the baby and the weird twist about him being the father.”
Another fan suggested Dylan could move into Laurel’s B&B if he needs somewhere to stay, with a third fan questioning: “Is that still standing? A new romance for Arthur then with Dylan?”
Arthur previously had a brief romance with classmate Marshall, who originally struggled to accept his sexuality. Last year, after a long stay in Australia, Arthur went on a date with newcomer Lewis, but it came to nothing. Could Dylan be the start of a new chapter for Arthur in Emmerdale?

*Warning: Emmerdale spoilers follow from the Thursday March 6 episode, which is available now on ITVX, but has not yet aired on ITV*
Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale revealed three enormous secrets which the late Leyla Harding took to her grave. This came as the village held two funerals – one for Leyla, and one for limo victim Amy Barton.
Amid the grieving families and sniping between Matty and Cain, the soap dropped another bombshell – Leyla had been keeping three secrets very close to her chest. Secrets she’ll now be keeping quiet about forever….

Tracy has been stealing from the shop in Emmerdale spoilers tonight
In the first of three flashbacks, Leyla dropped by Pollard’s shop to pick up an expensive bottle of plonk. But, as she repaired her makeup in the mirror, she inadvertently witnessed Tracy pocketing the money.
Confronting Tracy, she learned just how cash-strapped she was – and that Nate hasn’t been sending her any maintenance money for Frankie. There’s one thing Leyla doesn’t know, of course. Nate is dead, chained up at the bottom of the lake where she met her terrible end.
As they talk, Leyla learned the extent of Tracy’s pilfering – putting her £2000 in debt to Pollard. Back at home, in the present, a guilt-ridden Tracy pored over her purse full of Pollard’s cash. Will she carry on her theft now that Leyla’s out of the picture?

Suzy admitted her love for Mary
In the second flashback, Leyla walked in on a particularly awkward moment between Suzy and Mary – catching them mid-kiss. This came as Suzy admitted that she loved Mary and was going to dump Vanessa for her.
In the present, a devastated Vanessa told Mary how she’d planned to propose to Suzy. Still hiding their secret (and her feelings for Suzy), Mary told her that Suzy would have definitely accepted.
Oh, poor naive Vanessa.

Manpreet’s being blackmailed
In the third, she walked into the surgery to find Manpreet on her computer. She was shocked to see whatever Manpreet was looking at on the screen, exclaiming “was that you?!”
As the episode ended, the mystery of Manpreet’s messages continued to grow, as she read a text claiming to know her little secret. But what did Leyla see on that computer screen exactly? Has Doctor Manpreet opened her own Only Fans?

Fans of Emmerdale are convinced that newcomer Dylan has a secret connection to one notable local family – with a fan theory emerging that he could be the secret son of Eli Dingle. Has April unwittingly unearthed another Dingle?
This week’s episodes saw Dylan arrive in the village after being summoned by April Windsor. Still feeling bad about pal Becca’s death and thinking she should help Dylan, she paid him a visit – to dad Marlon’s chagrin.

Dylan’s sticking around
Although they clashed when Marlon attacked Dylan, he saw some sense when the lad visited April the next day. He reluctantly agreed to let Dylan stay, but his suspicions also remained. This came to a head last night, when he accused Dylan of stealing Paddy’s phone.
Thankfully, Dylan managed to clear his name, and Marlon allowed him to stay another night. And, with Dylan seemingly sticking around, fans have started to question what we really know about the youth.
Does he have history with one of the soap’s biggest families?

Dylan is the son of Eli Dingle, Emmerdale fans predict
Writing on social media as this week’s scenes aired, fans shared their thoughts on who Dylan’s family might be. And many have wondered whether his dad could be Marlon’s brother, Eli Dingle.
“Not being funny but dylan COULD pass as eli’s kid…” wrote one fan on X.
“The word on the street is Dylan is the son of Eli Dingle,” said another.
“Interesting theory that Eli is Dylan’s Dad,” a third agreed,
“Be funny if Dylan ended being long lost dingle,” a fourth said.
If true, then this could be a very interesting development indeed – making Dylan Marlon’s nephew, and April’s own cousin. Could Dylan really be a long-lost child of the Dingle clan?

In Emmerdale Cain Dingle is the indisputable bad boy of the village and has been causing carnage for almost half a century!
Cain has a colourful backstory full of criminal capers and forbidden romances. He’s had affairs with a policewoman, a vicar, his own cousin – and his own brother’s wife!
Cain was finally tamed by feisty farmer, Moira Dingle, who he married in 2014. The couple remain together, but their journey to happiness certainly hasn’t been straightforward.
Last month, Moira discovered what we fans have known for a while – that Cain slept with Ruby. At first, Moira told him their marriage was done, but has now had a change of heart and told him she wants to give their marriage another go.

Cain’s arrival in the Dales
Cain arrived in Emmerdale on March 30, 2000 just months into the new millennium.
Introduced as the black sheep of the Dingle family, Cain showed his criminal tendencies early on. Manipulative and cunning, rather than evil to the core, Cain’s speciality was always getting involved in scams.
But he’s not always got away with his crimes. Cain has been sentenced to prison on more than one occasion. His most recent stint inside was when he confessed to shooting Al Chapman, although it was soon discovered Cain wasn’t the guilty party.

Who is Cain Dingle’s dad?
A Dingle through and through, Cain is the son of Zak Dingle and Faith Dingle. Faith was married to Zak’s brother Shadrach Dingle, but had a one-night stand with Zak on Valentine’s Day 1974, the product of which was Cain. He had no idea Zak was his biological dad until it came out in true soap fashion while they were in the middle of a fight.
From his dad’s side, Cain’s got six half-siblings – Nathan, Sam, Belle and Tina – who recently returned to the village after almost three decades away. Plus he’s also half-brother to the late Ben and Butch Dingle. He shares mum Faith with Chas Dingle and Caleb Miligan.
Cain is a dad of four, by four different women. He has one daughter, Debbie Dingle, and three sons, Nate Robinson – who is currently not speaking to his dad and has moved to Shetland, Kyle Winchester and Isaac Dingle.
After Faith walked out on her family, teenage Cain stepped up to care for his sister. Alcoholic Shadrach was not a good dad and regularly beat Cain, although he never harmed Chas.
When Faith came back into the siblings’ lives in 2017, Cain did not want to know. It took her terminal breast cancer diagnosis in 2022 to finally unite mother and son. He was with her when she took her own life in emotional scenes aired in October 2022.
Finding Caleb
She left behind a big secret: son Caleb, who came to the village to reunite with his brother and sister after Faith’s death. Chas had no idea he even existed and Cain didn’t catch on to his real identity until Caleb confessed he was Faith’s son by Frank Tate.
The brothers were at war at the start, but have reconciled and they’re beginning to build a relationship.

Cain and Charity’s history and how they are related
You could write a book on Cain and Charity’s dysfunctional relationship!
The second cousins had a fling when they were 14 and 13 respectively. This resulted in the birth of their daughter, Debbie in October 1989, who was subsequently given up for adoption.
Debbie came to live in the village in the Christmas of 2002 when she was fostered by Paddy Kirk and his then-wife, Emily. She reconnected with her birth parents and the trio formed a close bond.
The return of their daughter prompted Cain and Charity to give things another go. They somehow managed to make it work until 2005, when Charity ditched Cain – and the village – for a fresh start elsewhere.
She returned four years later. The pair rekindled their romance and Cain popped the question in December 2009, presenting Charity with a plastic engagement ring.
Cain then planned a surprise wedding. But Charity decided she wasn’t ready to settle down and called their engagement off.
The pair finally called it quits shortly afterwards when Cain strayed with glamorous Faye Lamb and Charity left him for Jai Sharma.
Since then there’s been a few cheeky liaisons – including a brief affair in 2016 – but no long-term reunion, much to the disappointment of some fans who believe Cain’s heart truly lies with Charity.

Forbidden affairs
Cain Dingle has amassed quite a few notches on his bedpost during his time in Emmerdale and has a speciality for stealing other bloke’s wives!
His first entanglement was an ill-fated one with married police officer, Angie Reynolds. Their toxic affair was fuelled by lust and revenge – on both sides – and Cain even bedded Angie’s teenage daughter Ollie in a bid to try and make her jealous.
Tragedy struck in 2002 when Angie tried to set Cain up for robbery, but was fatally injured in a car crash.
Cain’s penchant for a bit of posh also led him to sleep with Jimmy King’s wife, Sadie.
His next conquest was student and barmaid Jasmine Thomas. Cain ruthlessly bedded her to try and get back at daughter Debbie.
Maisie Wylde was the next local lass to fall for Cain’s charms. He then finally got his wicked way with ice queen Faye Lamb.
When Charity chucked him for Jai Sharma in 2010, Cain went on the rebound and slept with teenager Amy Wyatt. This resulted in her falling pregnant with their son, Kyle.
Cain then briefly dated Priya Kotecha, but things fizzled out between them.
Then came the affair, which turned into the greatest love of Cain’s life…
True loves? (Credit: ITV)
The taming of Cain Dingle in Emmerdale
In 2011, Cain embarked on a torrid affair with Moira Barton, who was up until that point happily married to farmer husband John.
After John’s death in 2012, the lovers resumed their relationship. Cain proposed in October 2013.
The couple got married the following year, but old habits die hard and Cain was back in Charity’s bed by 2016.
Moira forgave Cain’s affair, but this Dingle is a repeat offender – and was soon having it away with the village vicar, Harriet Finch.
After that fling ended badly, Cain found his way back to his wife and the couple even survived Moira’s scandalous affair with Nate Robinson – who turned out to be Cain’s long-lost son.
Their marriage hit a bump again recently when Moira began behaving strangely. But though Cain was unsupportive at first, when Moira was diagnosed with a brain tumour, he was devastated and he’s been by her side ever since.

Cain’s brushes with death
Cain might as well be called the terminator of Emmerdale, he’s escaped death that many times!
In December 2011, one of Emmerdale’s biggest whodunits was launched when Cain was attacked and left for dead by one of his many enemies. The storyline, dubbed ‘Judgement Day’, saw Cain end up in coma.
It was eventually revealed that Cain’s own dad, Zak, was the culprit. Cain went on to make a full recovery. Zak later had a mental breakdown as a result of his actions.
Another near-death moment came when Moira’s son Adam Barton set fire to Cain’s garage with him inside. It was payback for him destroying his parent’s marriage – but Cain lived to tell the tale.
More near misses!
Cain was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in 2014. He almost drowned in a freezing cold river after ignoring doctor’s advice to have it operated on.
He also survived a huge explosion on a boat after trying get his revenge on Nate for sleeping with Moira.
Most recently he had a to-the-death fight with nephew Aaron Dingle. Cain almost had the upper-hand, but Aaron dealt a devastating final blow that landed Cain in hospital with a brain injury. He survived, however, and checked himself out against doctor’s orders the next day.
AND he even braved the raging barn fire back in September, to rescue Moira.
Cain took the blame to protect son Kyle (Credit: ITV)
Saving Kyle
Cain might have made a lot of mistakes in life, but he’s proved himself to be a decent dad. Daughter Debbie and son Nate grew up estranged from Cain, but he’s since rebuilt a relationship with them.
His young son Kyle Winchester was also adopted and was brought up by his adoptive grandmother Joanie Wright until her death. Cain at first did not want anything to do with his son, but after much coaxing from his family, he finally took custody of him in 2018.
Although bonding has not been straightforward, Cain committed the ultimate sacrifice in 2022. He took the fall for Kyle over the shooting of Al Chapman. Kyle had witnessed his dad and Al in a fight and pulled the trigger to stop Al killing his Cain.
Cain served time in prison for murder, but Kyle later confessed it was him. Despite Moira, Amy and Cain all insisting Kyle kept quiet and Cain was to take the rap, it didn’t happen and Cain was released.

Who plays Cain Dingle and who’s he married to in real life?
Cain Dingle in Emmerdale is played by British actor Jeff Hordley. He was born on March 7, 1970 and raised in Oldham, Manchester.
Jeff attended North Chadderton Comprehensive before graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre with a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre Acting.
His first TV appearance was in an episode of the kids’ hospital drama, Children’s Ward.
Emmerdale isn’t Jeff’s first Soapland rodeo either. The actor has starred in two episodes of Coronation Street. He played a nightclub manager in 1997, then a character called Wayne the year after.
In real-life, Jeff is happily married to his Emmerdale co-star Zoe Henry, who plays vet Rhona Goskirk.
The couple have been together for 30 years after meeting when they were students at the same drama school. They have two teenage children – daughter Violet and son Stan.
Jeff has a side-line career as a DJ. He’s also a very keen gardener, growing his own produce on the family allotment.
Is Cain Dingle leaving Emmerdale?
Right now, there’s concern from fans of both Emmerdale and ITV stablemate Coronation Street about characters leaving the soaps – due, in part, to the announcement of multiple exits from the network favourites.
Jeff Hordley has previously said about his future on the show: “I worry all the time! …Not all the time, that’s a little over the top.
“Every time there’s news of this [exits] it can settle us as a cast because we know the shelf life of characters in not forever on soaps, and it’s down to the producers and writers to steer the ship and take us in the direction they want to take us.”
Emmerdale without Cain seems unimaginable, and there’s all the fallout from his affair with Ruby and his part in covering up Anthony’s murder on screen right now, so we can’t see him going any time soon – thankfully!
Emmerdale usually airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.

Moira and Cain Dingle decided to give their marriage another go in Emmerdale on Tuesday March 4. These second thoughts came as she was spurred on by a pep talk from Ruby and some good news about her recovery.
Things were looking dicey for a while there, with Cain having spent the night on the Woolpack sofa after his marriage ended. But, with Moira deciding to give him a second chance, is it all smooth sailing from here on?
Elsewhere, Marlon was horrified when Dylan paid April a visit.
And, as Jacob planned Leyla’s funeral, Liam worried about his well-being. Meanwhile, Dawn flirted with Joe, who headed off to a mystery appointment.
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Tuesday March 4.
Moira had some good news for once (Credit: ITV)
Moira got the all-clear in Emmerdale
As Moira anxiously awaited news in hospital, Liam paid Cain a visit (at the Woolpack, where he’d slept on the sofa) to check on his pal. He invited Cain for a stroll over to the allotment, but he was in no mood. Liam soon put his foot in it, telling him that Moira was at a hospital appointment (so much for doctor-patient confidentiality).
The doctor had good news for Moira, who learned that the scans had all come up clear. She swung around to tell Cain the good news – before informing him she wanted to share the bad news of her break-up with Kyle and Isaac.
In a mood, he stomped off to the garage – but not before she reminded him that it was all her fault. As Moira enjoyed a drink at the bar, she shared a tense interaction with Ruby. It was then that she revealed both the good news and the bad news – her treatment was over, but so was her marriage.
Moira seduced Cain with talk of chicken burgers (Credit: ITV)
Moira and Cain rekindled their marriage
Taking her back to the Miligan household, Ruby tried to talk Moira out of ending things with Cain. She issued her a reminder of the whole Nate affair, telling her that their marriage deserved another chance.
Later, Cain and Moira swapped notes over how they should break it to the kids. Softening, Moira apologised for not telling him about the appointment. Fuming that she’d gone alone, he offered to be there for future appointments, and told her he still wanted them to be friends.
Settling down on the sofa, Moira told Cain about her conversation with Ruby. Confusing Cain with talk of chicken burgers (there’s four in every packet) she revealed that she’d had second thoughts – and wanted to give their marriage another chance.
Rejecting his promise to make it all up to her (“none of that – let’s just make it work”), Mora showed Cain that the affair really was water under the bridge with a passionate kiss. And, just like that, Emmerdale’s favourite couple are back on solid ground.
Now, let’s forget the whole Ruby thing ever happened please.
Dylan paid April a visit (Credit: ITV)
Dylan arrived in the village
Normality seemed to have resumed in the Dingle household as April pottered on with homework while Marlon filled Paddy in on her visit to Leeds yesterday. Marlon continued to stress over everything that had happened, plus the stress of her missing school work for good measure.
As he walked through the village, Ross spotted Dylan lurking around Marlon’s home – and wrestled him to the ground. Coming out to investigate the fuss, Marlon was horrified to see Dylan again.
April revealed that she’d invited Dylan to town. As April invited him inside, Ross only added to Marlon’s worries by pointing out that he was ‘clearly off his face’ on something.
As they shared a sandwich and a cuppa, Dylan worried that he didn’t belong in a village like Emmerdale. Taking April aside, Marlon remained convinced that Dylan was a wrong ‘un. As she leapt to his defense, re-iterating her responsibility for Becca’s death, Dylan returned, reassuring her she had nothing to feel guilty over.
Relenting, Marlon promised to talk to Rhona about lending Dylan their sofa for the night. Over at the Woolpack, Marlon was chided by Ross and Paddy, both of whom felt deeply mistrusting of the newcomer – and shared some more anti-homeless rhetoric.
Jacob revealed he’s planning on going back to work (Credit: ITV)
Liam worried about Jacob
Jacob planned Leyla’s send off. Collaring Liam in the pub, he passed on a note from Leyla which contained her funeral plans – asking Liam to read a eulogy. Although they reasoned she’d probably written it when they were still together, Liam agreed.
He was shocked to learn that Jacob planned on returning to work, and tried to talk him into taking more time off.
Dawn flirted with Joe
At The Woolpack, Dawn enjoyed a flirty (or dirty) text from Joe. A conversation with Moira had her rethinking the important things in life – but not enough to call off the affair. Meanwhile, Joe was headed off to a mystery appointment with his mystery doctor.

A new Emmerdale fan theory has viewers hoping that Billy Fletcher could have an affair with Kim Tate as revenge for Dawn betraying him with Joe. Dawn and Joe have been unable to keep their hands off of each other for the last few weeks, carrying on their affair under the noses of Billy and Kim.
Kim finally learned what Joe and Dawn have been up to last week, enlisting Lydia to spy on her step-grandson. Following the pair out into the woods, Lydia was shocked to catch Joe and Dawn at it. Back at Home Farm, she filled an appalled Kim in on what she’d witnessed.

Joe packs his bags as Kim learns of his affair
Accusing Joe of taking advantage of Dawn, she issued him an ultimatum. End things, or he’d be out on his ear. While Joe didn’t appear to be paying her warning much heed, he’s off anyway – telling Dawn last night that he’s off on a ‘business trip’ to Dubai for the next two weeks.
Dawn, meanwhile, has been having second thoughts – but not enough to dissuade her from the affair. Not even Billy catching her in the act was enough to stop the affair entirely, even if she did seem to develop a guilty conscience later.
But what will Billy do when he inevitably learns the truth?

Billy to get revenge on Dawn by having affair with Kim, Emmerdale fan demands
Writing on Reddit in the wake of last night’s episode, one fan shared their thoughts on what Billy might do once the affair is exposed.
“I hope Billy get revenge on the pair. Plot twist has affair with Kim,” this fan joked.
Elsewhere on social media, others shared their thoughts on how they’d like to see the story play out.
“She was alright at first! Seemed like a decent character. Now she’s a HORROR and I hope Billy leaves her and finds a much nicer girl,” wrote one viewer on X.
“Can’t stand Dawn. Billy deserves better can’t wait for Dawn to be found out soon and that she loses everything,” another agreed.
“It would be good if billy finds out secretly and dumps her and leaves with his kid, just his kid,” said a fourth.

A new Emmerdale fan theory has emerged – suggesting that Joe’s doctor could be but a figment of his fevered imagination. Joe Tate‘s doctor – if that’s what he is – has appeared in his hour of need as his illness has continued to worsen.
Last week, he came to Joe’s rescue when he collapsed after being kidnapped by Ross. Joe’s mystery man helped him up the stairs in Home Farm to his bed, where he recovered enough to continue lying and scheming.
Many have speculated that this means that Joe might need dialysis for his condition, with a kit tucked away in a mystery black box in his bedroom. And, as he puts a desperate plan into motion, Joe and his doctor planned their next move last night.

Joe’s doctor came calling in Emmerdale last night
Joe’s doctor paid another visit in Emmerdale last night, when he warned Joe against overexerting himself in his affair with Dawn. Telling Joe to focus on his health, he noted “this trip for your treatment can’t come soon enough.”
He then scarpered as he heard footsteps coming. Joe then told Dawn that he was leaving town for a while, off to Dubai on a spot of business.
But who is Joe’s doctor – and how does he always manage to teleport sight unseen around Home Farm?

Joe Tate’s doctor isn’t really there, new Emmerdale fan theory predicts
Writing on Reddit, one viewer speculated that there might be more to Joe’s doctor than meets the eye. Or less, as it were.
“Amazing how that mystery bloke known only to Joe keeps appearing at Home Farm. Is he actually just in Joe’s imagination? Nobody else sees him,” this viewer pointed out.
“That would be a brilliant twist,” agreed another.
“Joe takes mate, walks in and out the house no one sees him come up the drive in his car and parks it up, just appears and disappears into the atmosphere,” another noted, over on X.

Fans of Emmerdale have been left fuming at two notable absences as the village prepares for Leyla’s funeral. This comes as Jacob was forced to say goodbye to mum Leyla Harding when she was killed in last month’s limousine crash.
Alicia was Leyla’s sister and is Jacob’s biological mother. Alicia left the soap in 2015, beginning a new life in Portugal with Jacob. While he returned, she did not – and hasn’t been seen since.
David, meanwhile, was a father figure to Jacob through his relationships with both Leyla and Alicia. He left the soap in 2023, after learning of Jacob’s relationship with partner Victoria.
While Jacob and David didn’t part on the best of terms, it’s still a surprise that he wouldn’t return in Jake’s time of need.

Why aren’t David and Alicia returning to Emmerdale?
Jacob revealed this week that neither Alica nor David would be attending Leyla’s send-off. Their excuses? Alicia has a broken leg, and is therefore unable to travel from Portugal to the village.
David, meanwhile, is absent as son Theo is ill. In real-life, that’s because actors Natalie Anderson and Matthew Wolfenden are no longer in the soap, with no plans (as yet!) to return.
But for fans, that excuse isn’t good enough.

David and Alicia should be at Leyla’s funeral, Emmerdale fans demand
Writing on social media as this week’s scenes aired, viewers shared their frustration at the missing characters.
“It’s ridiculous that neither Alicia or David ain’t coming. I understand that David and Jacob are not on the best of terms but I feel like he still would have came to pay his respects to his son mother no matter what. Then they wrote some lame excuse about Alicia breaking her leg are you kidding me?” asked one fan on Reddit.
“Recast and better reasons are options here. E.g. Alicia is on a cruise, something that would actually prevent her from attending the funeral of her sister and supporting her child rather than an inconvenience,” another ageed.
“Who needs enemies when you have family like David and Alicia,” joked a third, over on X.
“I’s ridiculous, writers should check if actors would come back before writing someone’s exit. They should have just shoved Leyla in a taxi, it makes more sense than Alicia not bothering to turn up to support Jacob,” said a fourth.
Has Emmerdale ruined Leyla’s exit with a poor send-off?
