In Emmerdale this week, a mystery body was seen at the bottom of the lake. Fans are convinced the body belongs to Nate Robinson, and a new theory believes Caleb killed him.
While on a night out in a limousine, stand in driver Charity veered off the road when her son Noah staggered out in front of the vehicle.
During the escape, a body was seen in the water. While we haven’t yet discovered who the body belongs to, fans have been speculating.
Charity, Chas, Liam, Vanessa, Kerry, Leyla and Amy made their way from the limo across the ice one by one, while an already dead Suzy was left in the limo as it sunk.
Unfortunately for Amy Barton, the ice started to crack as she approached safety and she sunk into the lake.
While she was underwater, she came face to face with another body. While viewers didn’t see whose body it was, we did see that the mystery person was wearing a friendship bracelet similar to the one little Frankie made for Amy.
Viewers were quick to assume the body belonged to Frankie’s dad Nate Robinson, who left the Dales last year for a job in Scotland. However, fans are now thinking he didn’t leave after all, and instead has been in the lake the whole time.

Fan theory believes Caleb killed Nate
Taking to social media, fans were quick to share their theories. “I think John is a red herring. We’re meant to think it’s him. I maybe think Caleb. He’s the only person in the village who really had a grievance with Nate. Plus he’s nasty and violent when he’s angry.”
A second fan agreed, writing: “Caleb hated Nate, but couldn’t go for him because of Cain. That actually makes sense.”
A third fan said: “Caleb. I think Nate ran into him as he was leaving the village and a fight broke out (about Tracy) and Nate died. I’m not saying it was murder, maybe manslaughter but either way Caleb killed him and let his family (Cain and Frankie) believe he was still alive which is so cruel.”
Another fan added: “Caleb is a hot head that had an affair with another guy’s wife, maybe he killed Nate.” While a fifth fan echoed the thought, writing: “Murderer is Caleb after his affair with Tracey was found out.”
A sixth fan referenced the flashforward scenes which were shown earlier this year, in which Caleb was seen in hospital. They speculated: “People saying the body is Nate – that would explain Cain crying at a graveside and Caleb in hospital – did Caleb kill Nate and Cain finds out?? …. it’s intense, Emmerdale!”

Last night’s episode of Emmerdale revealed that poor Suzy Merton was the first to die in the soap’s Valentine’s ice crash stunt. Riding in the limousine with other women from the village, Suzy sustained a life-ending injury as Charity swerved the car from the road.
The vehicle came to rest in the middle of an ice-covered lake, perilously close to sinking through. But by then, Suzy’s journey was already over. She’d hit her head as the car swerved from the road, killing her almost instantly.

Inside the limousine, those trapped attempted to break for freedom. This meant that Vanessa was forced to leave Suzy behind, with stragglers Leyla and Kerry. Whether Suzy’s body will follow the limo into the lake remains to be seen, but Suzy’s story is essentially over, and actress Martelle Edinborough marked her exit from the soap with a triumphant statement on X.
“And just like that….Suzy is no more and a new chapter begins!! What an ep! It’s been such a blessing to have been a part of such an iconic show that I grew up on and loved by so many!! ðŸ™ðŸ½#Journeys ðŸŒðŸ’«ðŸ’«” Martelle wrote as the episode finished.
Disappointing news to many, who see Suzy’s death as a missed opportunity.

Emmerdale fans decry ‘underused’ Suzy as soap kills her off
Writing on X, viewers shared their disappointment in the soap’s decision to kill off Suzy.
“It is disappointing Suzy got killed off. Actors of colour on this show aren’t getting big storylines. Suzy a lesbian character unfortunately the writers didn’t know what do with her,” wrote one fan.
“Mary & Suzy was a story not yet told in soap, navigating a lesbian age gap relationship. Eastenders ignored Eve’s backstory. Why are writers only interested in telling same stories or certain characters. Suzy along with Eve two characters I liked sidelined this last year,” said another.
“Suzy deserved so much better! I can’t believe the writers teased something between her and Mary, knowing nothing would ever come of it,” wrote a third.
“Suzy is dead. Great last stuff from Martelle Edinburgh in tonight’s Emmerdale. Such a shame for that character as she was underused and had more to give But I said from the start she would be one,” said a fourth.

Fans of Emmerdale have started to pick apart this week’s lake crash stunt – finding a series of gaping plot holes as the survivors of the limousine disaster fought for life.
Resting precariously on the surface, it was only a matter of time before the vehicle sank to the freezing depths below.

The survivors raced to dry land in Emmerdale last night
The women (and Liam) staged an escape last night (Monday, February 17), creeping across the ice to safety, one by one. This went better for some – Tracy, Liam and Charity all made it across without much trouble, while Chas took a tumble and Amy sank entirely.
Thrilling scenes… but some were distracted by the survivors’ somewhat counter-intuitive behaviour.

Emmerdale fans point out plot holes in ice lake crash
Writing on social media as the episode aired, fans registered their confusion at the survivors’ actions. And, among the questionable work on show, many noticed how members of the group kept slamming the limo door shut as they made their way out of the vehicle.
“What gets me is why they kept shutting the door every time they got out,” wrote one viewer on Reddit.
Others pointed out the strange choice to delicately totter across the ice (in heels, no less!) rather than carefully crawling.
“I wondered why they took so long to try to escape and why they didn’t crawl to spread their weight? So the ice could stand the weight of a limo with a load of people in but gave way at other points?” another viewer wrote.
“I don’t understand why nobody took their heels off to get across the ice and why everybody was slamming the door all hard, that makes no sense to me,” said a third.
Meanwhile, others wondered why – Charity aside – nobody was trying to call for help.
“Why is no one calling 999? Of course in soap world no one has a signal at all and no one around for miles,” one viewer pointed out.

Help arrives at the scene of the limousine lake crash in Emmerdale spoilers tonight – arriving with one villager already dead and others still fighting for their lives. With Amy still trapped beneath the icy water, a hand breaks through and pulls her out. But will Amy survive?
Amy’s trauma came as she and the other passengers of the women’s limo (including Doctor Liam) crashed off the road and landed on the surface of an icy lake. With the exception of poor dead Suzy, the majority of those inside have already escaped, leaving only a seriously injured Leyla and Kerry inside. Can they escape before the limo sinks to the bottom of the lake?
Elsewhere, the men continue to wrestle with the implications of Caleb and Cain’s feud.
Here’s everything that happens on Emmerdale tonight, Tuesday February 18.

1. Amy fights for her life in Emmerdale spoilers tonight
Beneath the surface of the frozen lake, Amy’s breath gives out, and she sinks toward an almost certain watery grave. Just then, a hand reaches into the water and pulls her back out.
At both crash sites, a long night continues for the affected parties. As the women (and Liam) battle for survival, Leyla and Kerry remain trapped inside.
Meanwhile, the men (and Mandy) wrestle with the fallout of Cain and Caleb‘s feud.
3. Help arrives on the scene
A series of flashing lights indicate that help has finally arrived. But with multiple limousine passengers in a bad way, will any of them make it to the hospital in one piece?

Village vet Vanessa Woodfield has been an integral member of the Emmerdale cast ever since joining the village as the new locum in town. Over a decade later, Vanessa is part of the furniture – having weathered cancer, hostage terror and multiple failed romances.
This week Vanessa is at the heart of the drama once more as she finds her life at risk as two limousines crash on a deserted woodland road. Will Vanessa survive? And, with girlfriend Suzy already confirmed dead and ex Charity also in danger, how will she be affected by the consequences of the crash?
Here’s everything you need to know about Emmerdale vet(eran) Vanessa.

Who plays Vanessa Woodfield?
Vanessa is played by actor Michelle Hardwick. Prior to joining Emmerdale, Michelle appeared in episodes of Hollyoaks, Heartbeat and Coronation Street in a series of smaller roles.
Outside of the soaps, she briefly appeared on American zombie drama The Walking Dead across two episodes in 2018 and 2019, where she played an unnamed survivor in one of the post-apocalyptic outposts.
When did Vanessa join Emmerdale?
In 2012, she joined the soap as Vanessa. She was hired by Rhona – her old university friend – to work at the vet’s surgery. She and Rhona remained firm friends during her time in the dales, helping Rhona when she learned about her addiction to painkillers.
Upon arriving, she also made friends with Moira Dingle, striking up a strong and abiding friendship with the family. It was in the village that she learned she had a half-sister – Tracy Metcalfe.

How many children does Vanessa have?
In 2015, Vanessa gave birth to her son Johnny. Johnny was the result of the relationship between Vanessa and Kirin Kotecha – Priya’s then-17-year-old stepson-to-be. The pair split up after she had a one-night stand with Adam Barton – and his father edited the result of a DNA test to make it look as though Adam was the baby’s dad.
By 2016, Kirin had learned the truth. He left the village later that year after leaving a woman for dead in a drunken hit-and-run. Kirin returned in 2020, only to face trial for the hit-and-run. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Kidnapped by Pierce
In 2020, Vanessa was held hostage by Rhona’s rapist ex husband, Pierce, who blamed her for ruining his marriage. Keeping her tied up in her own home, Pierce held Vanessa there for weeks.
The police managed to capture Pierce after Rhona injected him with tranquiliser, allowing her to free Vanessa and call the police. He died from cancer while in prison in 2022.
Vanessa was stabbed in a brutal attack (Credit: ITV)
Stabbed by Lachlan’s dad
In 2018, Vanessa was subject to a brutal attack by Lachlan White’s dad, in a campaign of violence against the Dingles. When she attempted to stop Donny as he tried to set fire to the Woolpack, he stabbed her and took her car – unaware Johnny was hiding in the back.
Charity gave chase, rescuing Johnny and beating Donny with a metal pole, before taking up her rightful place at Vanessa’s bedside.
Bowel cancer
At the start of 2020, Vanessa was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes. She underwent surgery, but was devastated to learn that she’d still need a course of chemotherapy afterwards
She took some time out to recover at her mother’s house. When she returned, she did so with the news that she’d been given the all-clear – however, the positivity wasn’t to last, as she learned that girlfriend Charity had snogged another man while she was away. The pair split, and Vanessa returned to her mum’s for a while.
Fans couldn’t get enough of Vanity (Credit: ITV)
Relationships with Charity and Suzy – and breaks-up
Together with Charity Dingle, Vanessa made up one half of the soap’s most popular pairings – dubbed ‘Vanity’ by fans. After a tumultuous romance, the pair split up for good after Charity was kissed Mack.
In 2022, she met Suzy Merton. Flirting over a drink (after Vanessa almost run her over!) the pair dated for a while. However, things became tense with them when it was revealed that Suzy had been partly responsible for Holly’s addiction to drugs.
They split later that year, as Vanessa was offered her dream job, and Suzy decided it would be best if she went without her.
Suzy did return to the village and the couple reunited, with it looking for a while like they had found their happy ever after.
Vanessa left the soap in 2022 as actor Michelle took a break from the soap to go on maternity leave. She and wife Kate Brooks welcomed their daughter in November that year.
In the soap, Vanessa left to pursue a job opportunity in Canada. She returned in February this year to support Rhona, who had gotten herself into trouble with the law after kidnapping baby Ivy. Convincing Rhona to return home, Vanessa decided to move back to the village, where she remains to this day.

Will Charity and Vanessa ever get back together?
Ever since she returned to the soap, fans have been hoping that Vanessa and Charity will reconcile. Although there’s no animosity there, Charity did tell Mack that she had ‘no lingering feelings’ for her ex. That hasn’t stopped the fans from hoping though!

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, viewers bid a shell-shocked goodbye to Suzy Merton as actress Martelle Edinborough was killed off during the soap’s opening scenes. Smashing her head as one of the two limousines crashed into an icy lake, Suzy’s was the first life to be claimed by the Valentine’s Day disaster.
With Liam and Vanessa confirming her death moments later, it’s clear that Suzy’s time on the soap is done. But how much do we know about actress Martelle Edinborough, who plays Suzy?
Here’s all you need to know about the departing Emmerdale star, from past roles to inside her private life.

How long has Martelle Edinborough played Suzy on Emmerdale?
Martelle joined the soap in 2022, when producers cast her as newcomer Suzy Merton. Introduced as a new love interest for Vanessa Woodfield, Suzy initially clashed with the village vet after she almost ran her over.
The pair settled their differences long enough for a date – cementing their chemistry. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but they twice reconciled and have become one of the soap’s strongest couples.
What else has Martelle Edinborough been in?
Martelle appeared in a 8 episodes of Coronation Street, in smaller roles. She also appeared in three episodes of Hollyoaks and the popular TV shows Doctors and Cold Feet. Prior to taking the role of Suzy, she also appeared in a 2018 episode of Emmerdale as a nurse.
In 2023, she appeared in the British horror film Evie… directed by her Emmerdale co-star Dominic Brunt (and which also featured his real-life wife, Joanne Mitchell).

How old is Martelle and where is she from?
Born on September 27 1978, Martelle is 46 years old. Celebrating her birthday in 2023, Martelle left fans shocked when she revealed her true age in an Instagram post at the time – sharing a grinning selfie with the caption: “45 And still I Rise!!”
By contrast, her character Suzy is eight years younger, being born in-universe on September 29, 1986. Born in Yorkshire, local woman Martelle was only a stone’s throw away from the studio when she began filming in 2022.
“I was absolutely over the moon and overjoyed. What actor from Yorkshire doesn’t want to work on Emmerdale?” she told The Express.
She continued: “I think it’s one of those dream jobs. I am from Yorkshire and I live in Leeds and it’s just on my doorstep, it’s perfect!”
Health issues and near-death experience
Earlier this month, Martelle marked the 4-year milestone of surviving a near-fatal hemorrhage. Writing on Instagram, she explained: “Happy Life Day to Meee! 2/2/2020.
“Today marks 4 years since I suffered & survived a subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm 🧠The survival rates of a ruptured aneurysm are pretty bleak & so every year I celebrate just how blessed & lucky I am to still be here.”
A subarachnoid hemorrhage is described by the NHS as a life-threatening kind of stroke which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain occurs. Doctors subsequently diagnosed her with rare vascular disease – the root cause of the hemorrhage – and she underwent surgery to prevent it from happening again.

Why did Suzy leave Emmerdale?
With Suzy’s death coming as something of a shock (although your mileage may vary if you had her marked to die tonight), neither Martelle nor the soap have revealed why she’s left the soap.
Whether she chose to leave or Suzy was killed off remains to be seen. For now, she’ll have to be content with making Emmerdale history as an integral part of one of the soap’s most chilling episodes of all time.

The aftermath of the limo crash was revealed in Emmerdale tonight (Monday, February 17) as one of the limousines crashed into an icy lake. As the women battled to escape the sinking car, Vanessa was horrified to realise that Suzy had died. But even worse was to come, as Amy sank through the ice while she and the others attempted to make dry land.
Elsewhere, the boys wrestled with the implications of Caleb’s accusation. As violence broke out between the warring brothers, Paddy struggled to hold the peace. And, having spotted Noah on the road, Charity set out in search for her son.
Here’s everything that happened on tonight’s harrowing episode of Emmerdale.

The two cars crashed in Emmerdale tonight
the action picked up at the precise moment both limos were thrown off course. Caleb was driving like a maniac, having just confronted Cain over sleeping with Ruby. In the other car, Liam was proposing to Chas.
As Caleb swerved to avoid an oncoming truck (and not the other limo, as it had initially seemed), Charity spotted Noah in the middle of the road, looking confused and disheveled. She too yanked the wheel, and all hell broke loose.
Within the two cars, loose glasses (and people) were thrown in every direction. Someone’s foot smashed down on Kerry’s ankle (ouch), Suzy bashed her head (double ouch) and Mandy nearly choked on her cocktail. And then it all went black…

The girls’ limo was in peril as the boys bickered
As those within both cars regained their senses, the aftermath was revealed. The girls’ limo had come to rest in the middle of an icy lake, with the hood sinking precariously below the surface. With the door jammed by the ice, Charity began to realise the gravity of the situation.
The other car, in stark contrast, was sitting pretty at the side of the road. As Caleb confirmed that a tyre had burst, Mandy relieved her stress by cracking open another canned cocktail.
With Caleb’s accusation looming large, a confrontation between the pair beckoned. However, for the women (and Liam), it was a matter of life and death…

Goodbye Suzy
In the sinking car, the survivors attempted to make sense of the situation. Kerry’s leg was seriously injured and Suzy was unresponsive. As Chas tried to keep those around her calm, Charity revealed that she’d seen Noah in the road.
As Vanessa and Liam determined that Suzy was no longer breathing, the limo began to sink further beneath the surface. Liam attempted to resuscitate Suzy, but was unsuccessful… and the ice crash claimed its first victim.
Chas crawled to safety (Credit: ITV)
The women attempted to escape in Emmerdale tonight
As a panicked Tracy tried to flee, the women realised the extent of the peril they were in. They decided to make a break for it, one by one, reasoning that the ice couldn’t take more than one of them at a time. First up, Charity, who was desperate to find Noah.
Next up, Liam, who had bonked his head and was starting to act erratically. In spite of his injuries, the doctor made it safely to dry land – while those inside continued to suffer. Things weren’t looking good for Leyla, who seemed to be hiding a lot of blood under her glittery blazer.
Chas followed Liam to safety, almost succumbing to the ice as it gave way beneath her feet. Thankfully, she managed to muster the courage to crawl to safety, reuniting with Liam on the shore.
With Chas safe and sound (relatively speaking), the women convinced Vanessa to go next. Bidding Suzy a painful goodbye, she headed off to the embankment. Just in the nick of time too, as Liam took a turn for the worse.
It was Tracy’s turn next, successfully making it off the ice, where Liam had passed out and was being attended to by Vanessa. But what did this mean for Amy, Leyla and Kerry?
Is this the end for Amy? (Credit: ITV)
Amy fell through the ice
As the three remaining women debated who should go next, Amy revealed that she and Matty were planning to adopt. Kerry and Leyla voluntold her to go next, sending her out onto the ice where she… promptly crashed through into the water.
Plunging into the icy depths, Amy bashed desperately against the ice – the flashforward’s mystery hand finally revealed. But Amy wasn’t alone beneath the water and, as she sunk to the bottom, she came face-to-face (or to hand, rather) with a dead body… and a wrist wearing a distinctive bracelet.
Amy struggled valiantly to get back to the surface but to no avail, her breath giving out as she pounded against the ice. Has the ice crash claimed its second victim?
Cain and Caleb came to blows (Credit: ITV)
Caleb lashed out at Cain in Emmerdale tonight
As the men stood outside enjoying the frosty air and atmosphere between Cain and Caleb, Mandy knocked back cocktails by herself. Matty questioned Cain over what had happened, learning that he’d cheated on Moira on the day of the operation.
While Cain struggled to justify his actions (as if he could), the other men shared their condemnation. Tempers boiled over and, as Paddy tried to keep Caleb from attacking Cain, he scored a smack in the mouth for his trouble. In the episode’s only moment of comic relief, Mandy and Bear formed a fierce tag team in Paddy’s defence. “He’s a wrestler,” Mandy declared, “and I’ve seen Kung-Fu Panda seven times.”
Mandy’s wrath wasn’t reserved purely for Caleb though; she had plenty left over for Cain. The two brothers finally had it out, and Caleb revealed that he’d tried to frame Cain for Anthony’s murder. Cain fumed on his family’s behalf – “whatever you need to do, do it to me” – and Caleb duly obliged, pummeling him to the ground while the others looked on.
Charity was shocked to see Noah in the road (Credit: ITV)
Charity searched for Noah in Emmerdale tonight
In the woods, Charity searched for Noah. She found him passed out, but was unable to call for help due to lack of phone signal. She was forced to leave him behind as she took off again, in pursuit of help.
But what’s happened to Noah… and will he survive being abandoned in the woods?

In Emmerdale tonight (Monday, February 17), Amy fell through the ice. She then saw someone’s hand in the water – could it be Nate Robinson’s?
Amy’s life flashed before her eyes tonight and if her falling through a frozen lake and fighting for her life wasn’t enough to scare her – seeing the hand of someone in the water would’ve been.
But, we’ve now spotted some worrying ‘clues’ that this hand could belong to former villager, Nate Robinson.
Whose hand is it? (Credit: ITV)
Amy spotted hand in frozen lake
Tonight, the girls fought to save their lives as their limo started to sink into a frozen lake.
Sadly, in the aftermath of the crash, Suzy lost her life and could not be saved. The rest of the girls (and Liam) then tried one by one to steadily cross the ice.
Liam tested the waters (well, ice) after Charity made it, with Chas almost falling through but crawling to her safety.
Vanessa and Tracy also made it across, with Amy then choosing to go next. However, the ice gave in and broke under her feet.
She then fell through the ice and started to sink in the water, attempting to push her way out of the ice above.
But, in a huge (and extremely jaw-dropping) twist, Amy was not alone under that water, oh no… She was actually in the company of someone else, screaming a muffled sound as her eyes gazed at a hand in the water.
And, it was wearing a friendship bracelet…
Nate was wearing a bracelet… (Credit: ITV)
All the ‘clues’ Nate Robinson’s hand is in water
Well, well, well, we’ve got a worrying theory that Nate Robinson could be the owner of the hand in the water.
Remember when Nate left the Dales for Shetland in September last year? It was all a bit suss, with many fans believing him to be dead. But, after many months went by, he kind of got… well, forgotten about.
Nate was last seen by John Sugden before leaving for a new job in Shetland without saying a proper goodbye to his family. Which brings us to our first clue… we now know that John is rather good at covering up a death or murder… He didn’t even blink an eye when helping Aaron clean up Anthony’s death at the Depot… It almost seemed like he’d done it before.
Could John, the last to have seen Nate, have finished him off?
Then there are those rather confusing text messages left by Nate after he left, specifically: ‘Settling in, head’s a mess, don’t call me, I’ll call you when I’m ready.’ He didn’t really want to stay in touch with Tracy, the rest of his family, or even his own daughter Frankie. Someone he literally went for full custody of, now cutting her out of his life just like that… Suss, suss, suss.
But, the most obvious clue of all is that Nate was wearing a friendship bracelet on the day he left the village. And we all know his daughter Frankie loves to make friendship bracelets, with the soap putting a really obvious emphasis on these bracelets in recent weeks.
And it actually makes sense now that the hand under the water was wearing a bracelet that looked exactly like Nate’s. But, is he dead under that water? Did he never actually make it to Shetland? If so, who finished him off? John?

In Emmerdale tonight (Monday, February 17), Suzy died during the girls’ limo crash on the ice – but who dies next?
Lives are on the line as Amy finds herself trapped in the water after falling through the ice – and she’s not alone.
But, will anyone join Suzy in the afterlife as the ice continues to be a danger to those who are yet to make it to steady ground? Here are all the questions we have!
1. Why was Noah in the road?
Charity swerved the limo and crashed because she saw an out of sorts Noah stumbling in the road at night.
He didn’t look in a good state, and we know later this week after Charity finds him, that he’s in hospital for suspected spiking.
But, who spiked Noah? And why was he all alone and walking into oncoming traffic?
Will she find her way out of the ice? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale who dies?: 2. Will Amy survive?
Amy wasn’t as lucky as Charity, Liam, Vanessa, Chas and Tracy. Instead, she followed the same path as they had done but ended up falling through the ice.
She then tried to get out, pushing her hand against the ice above her as she struggled in the water.
We know that spoilers reveal that someone tries to pull someone out of the ice, but can Amy be saved? And, who could risk their lives to save her?
Remaining put in the limo, could Leyla die from her injuries?
And we know the limo is sinking rather quickly, but will Kerry (who is also one of the last left inside) go down with it?
4. Are all the boys out of the woods?
Liam travelled with the girls instead of the boys but has a serious bleed to the head as well as severe vomiting. But, will he lose his life?
And then there are the other lads in the more fortunate limo… Whilst they look to be safe, tensions are high between Cain and Caleb…
But, could a fight break out? Could Caleb’s hospital flash-foward be the cause of this?
Whose hand is it? (Credit: ITV)
5. Whose is the corpse hand?
Under the water, Amy (and all of us viewers) got a right fright when she saw a corpse hand.
It was wearing a distinctive friendship bracelet… But, whose hand is it? And, what happened to the person to lead them to such a tragic end? So. Many. Questions.

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale has revealed the first of the victims of its ice crash stunt – with Suzy Merton dying as the limousine she was in crashed from the road onto an icy lake.
While there was more terror for the others aboard, Suzy’s journey ended there. Vanessa quickly realised that Suzy was no longer breathing as the car came to a halt, and Liam was unable to resuscitate. Goodbye, Suzy.
As Suzy tragically exits the soap, here’s all you need to know about Suzy Merton.

Suzy made her first appearance on the soap on March 30 2022. The character was introduced as a love interest to Vanessa Woodfield – entering her life rather abruptly when the resident vet almost ran her over!
Initial tensions aside, the pair soon hit it off. Suzy and Vanessa began dating not long after. After deciding to stick around, Suzy made a life for herself in the village, working as an event planner at Take A Vow with Leyla.

Why did Vanessa and Suzy split?
Vanessa and Suzy’s relationship grew complicated when it was revealed that Suzy was a habitual drug user, together with a now-addicted Leyla. The situation came to a head when Vanessa learned that Suzy had been indirectly responsible for Holly Barton’s overdose – having given her the money which she had used to buy the drugs which ultimately killed her.
While Moira could never forgive Suzy, she was understanding when Vanessa gave her a second chance. The pair rekindled their relationship not long after. However, their happiness wouldn’t last…

What happened between Suzy and Mary?
Suzy and Vanessa split for a second time when the vet was offered a chance at her dream job in Canada. Deciding that their relationship couldn’t handle the pressure, Suzy ended things. The pair shared a tender kiss as they bid each other goodbye before Vanessa left the village.
In February 2024, Vanessa returned to the village. She and Suzy resumed dating soon after – bad news for Mary, who had developed feelings for Suzy during her absence. The pair have been solid as a rock ever since. Too solid for their own good, really…

Is Suzy dead?
If the events of tonight’s episode are anything to go by, then Suzy is pretty definitively dead. As the episode began, Suzy bashed her head during the limo crash. As the car came to rest on the ice, Vanessa realised that she was no longer breathing – and Liam concurred that she was dead.
With the car sinking, a heartbroken Vanessa was forced to say goodbye.
Why did Suzy leave Emmerdale?
With Suzy’s exit still fresh, neither the soap nor Martelle have confirmed whether she was killed off or the actress decided to leave. Just another lingering question in the aftermath of its horrifying ice crash.
