  • Eric to kill Brenda as his Parkinson’s gets worse, heartbreaking fan theory predicts

Eric to kill Brenda as his Parkinson’s gets worse, heartbreaking fan theory predicts

With Eric Pollard struggling with his Parkinson’s in Emmerdale and Brenda Walker set to leave the show, fans have come up with a heartbreaking theory.

This comes after it was reported by The Mirror that Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda, will be leaving Emmerdale after 16 years on the show. There has already been a lot of speculation over how Brenda will leave the show, with some fans believing she will die as they can’t see her leaving Eric.

Now, other fans have taken this theory a step further and suggested that Eric will be the one to kill Brenda.

What’s happening with Eric in Emmerdale?

Eric was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a year ago, after suffering from numbness and tingling. In order to portray the story realistically, the story has been playing out slowly.

Scenes this week have seen his illness come to the forefront once again. Earlier in the week, he started shaking after confronting Caleb over the number of lorries driving through the village.

Tuesday’s episode (November 12) saw Eric act erratically in the surgery after he demanded an appointment. He was eventually escorted away by Brenda.

In Wednesday’s episode (November 13), things got even worse when Eric struggled to get himself out of bed due to not feeling his legs. He eventually managed to do it and was later found walking outside in his pyjamas and slippers by Caleb.

Caleb took Eric to see Dr Liam, who told Eric he was suffering from freezing. This was caused by a shortage in Eric’s usual medication.

Fan theory: Eric to kill Brenda?

As well as struggling physically, Eric has been struggling mentally. Could this cause him to act irrationally and attack Brenda? Fans think so.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: “Is Eric gonna have a turn & kill Brenda?” We’ve seen Eric behave out of character due to the lack of medication he needs, so it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility.

Another fan had the same idea, writing: “Eric to off Brenda.” It is not yet known when Brenda’s exit will take place, but could she be facing a heartbreaking end?

  • Eric Pollard to take his own life as his Parkinson’s symptoms worsen, predict fans as they question whether he is leaving Emmerdale

Eric Pollard to take his own life as his Parkinson’s symptoms worsen, predict fans as they question whether he is leaving Emmerdale

Fans of Emmerdale have predicted that Eric Pollard will take his own life, following recent scenes that have seen him struggling with his Parkinson’s symptoms.

Last year, Eric was diagnosed with the neurological condition. He originally kept it a secret, but finally shared the news with his partner Brenda.

With Eric struggling lately, Emmerdale fans are predicting that they are setting things up for a sad ending.

    What happened to Eric?

Earlier in the week, Eric suffered from the shakes when he went to confront Caleb over the number of lorries travelling through the village.

However, in Wednesday’s episode (November 13), Caleb became an ally after he realised how much Eric was struggling.

Eric didn’t turn up for work because he couldn’t get his legs to move in order to get out of bed. When he finally managed to get himself out, he walked into the village in his pyjamas and slippers, where he was found by Caleb.

Caleb took Eric to see Dr Liam, who told Eric he was suffering from something called freezing. While Eric believed his Parkinson’s was worsening, Liam reassured him that wasn’t the case. The problem is actually that there is a shortage of the medication that Eric requires.

It was clear that Eric didn’t like the idea of being somebody’s problem. Could that realisation cause him to take his own life? Fans certainly think so.

Fans predict Eric Pollard will take his own life

Taking to X, fans were quick to jump on the idea that Eric will take his own life. “Who’s willing to bet Eric books Dignitas?” wrote one fan, referring to the Swiss organisation that provides physician-assisted suicide.

Another echoed the thought, writing: “Emmerdale. I see a Dignitas storyline coming…” While a third fan added: “ Euthanasia storyline incoming then?!”

A fourth fan wrote: “I reckon Eric’s going to commit suicide,” while other fans expressed their sadness that Eric might be leaving. “Hope this isn’t leading to Eric’s exit,” one said.

Chris Chittell, who plays Eric, is married to co-star Lesley Dunlop in real life. It was recently announced that Lesley, who plays Brenda, will be leaving the soap. Could a double exit be on the cards?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Eric got answers over his illness, Jai realised the truth and Tina’s still not gone for good

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Eric got answers over his illness, Jai realised the truth and Tina’s still not gone for good

Emmerdale tonight saw Eric get answers from Liam over his health crisis. Hopefully it’s all going to be okay and he’s vowed to keep fighting, but it really did have us worried for a while.

Meanwhile, Jai finally realised Caleb was not his mate, they were not business partners and he’s not going to get all of his money back. Whoops.

Here’s everything that went down in Emmerdale on Wednesday November 13.

Pollard does not want to be a burden to anyone (Credit: ITV)

Eric was seriously ill in Emmerdale tonight

Eric had not turned up for work and Tracy was pretty cross, but Brenda wasn’t worried. She should have been though as he was stuck in bed, unable to get up. He couldn’t get his legs to move and although he thought he had called Brenda and was begging her to help him, his phone was off.

Pollard managed to get himself moving and walked down the road in his pyjamas and slippers. Caleb found him and insisted on helping him. Pollard gave in and said he wanted to go to Liam’s house.

Liam told Pollard he was suffering from freezing, which was a symptom of his Parkinson’s. It’s all because there is a shortage of his usual medicine and he can’t get access to it. Poor Eric is suffering mentally as he believes his condition is worsening, but Liam reassured him it’s because of the medication.

Tearful Eric refused to be anybody’s problem. He even then went back to work where he encountered Caleb again. And although he vowed he wasn’t giving up his campaign against Caleb’s depot, there was a warmth developing between them.

The penny dropped for Jai in Emmerdale tonight

Caleb is clearly playing Jai, who wants to be in charge, but has been lumbered with marketing and costings. He,was not happy and he wants his money back, but Caleb was not interested in giving him a penny.

Will later warned Jai not to trust Caleb as he’ll try to take him for all he has. Alarm bells finally started ringing that he is being scammed. It took it’s time!

Meanwhile, Kerry tapped Jai up for a job, but he refused. However, Caleb then gave Kerry the job and Jai was not at all happy. It was all rather tedious as he tried to fire her, but Kerry said Caleb was in charge.

Jai later demanded his money back again and Caleb pretended to make a phone call to sort it all out. He claimed Jai will have his money by the end of the week. But Jai then checked his phone and realised Caleb hadn’t called anyone at all.

The penny is starting to drop and honestly, after the way Jai has behaved towards Laurel, we’re pretty pleased he’s ended up with egg on his face. The supposedly bright businessman has nothing left and he’s about to realise it…

No one knows whether Tina has gone for good

Vinny was moping (understandably) because he regretted not asking all the questions before Tina left. She’s staying with a mate in a caravan after Cain set fire to hers and Vinny decided to see her.

However he was too afraid to go in when he arrived. He saw Tina from a distance and heard what he thought were his siblings so rushed back to offload on Gabby in the Woolpack. He even momentarily spoke to Mandy to tell her what had happened. Mandy thought it was good that Vinny didn’t want to see Tina and her kids, but Gabby told her as long as Tina is nearby, Vinny will always wonder.

Will Mandy now act to get rid of Tina for good? Has Tina really left the soap? Or is there one final showdown ahead?

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Nicola went to see Jimmy and offloaded what had happened with Angel yesterday. They agreed to present a united front and talk to their daughter together.

Jimmy insisted he wanted them back home as that’s clearly what Angelica wants too. Nicola got her hopes up, but then stupid Jimmy refused to kick Tom out and it was back to square one. When will he stop choosing that violent abuser over his own family we wonder?

  • What’s wrong with Eric Pollard in Emmerdale? His Parkinson’s battle and health decline as fans fear he’s going to die

What’s wrong with Eric Pollard in Emmerdale? His Parkinson’s battle and health decline as fans fear he’s going to die

Eric Pollard is clearly struggling with his health on-screen in Emmerdale right now. But as he appears to be in decline, what exactly is wrong with him? Is this a sign his Parkinson’s is worsening? Or is there something else afoot?

Furious Pollard wanted to teach Caleb a lesson (Credit: ITV)

What’s wrong with Eric Pollard in Emmerdale?

Emmerdale’s longest-serving character, Eric Pollard is currently going through the mill with his health. Struggling with the stress Caleb’s new depot empire is bringing to his daily life with reems of lorries running back and forth along the road by his house, Pollard lost it on Monday.

When Caleb was dismissive over Eric’s complaints and refused to take him seriously, Pollard took action. He jumped into one of the lorries. But he suffered hand tremors and crashed the vehicle into some crates. Pollard was clearly worried about the state of himself as he couldn’t stop shaking.

Last night (Tuesday November 12) Pollard desperately tried to get a doctor’s appointment to get to the bottom of what was wrong. However he couldn’t get through on the phone and caused a scene in the surgery demanding Ella’s help. He was escorted out by Wendy and Bear.

Things come to head tonight when Pollard can’t get out of bed and is then found wandering the road alone in his slippers by Caleb. Caleb takes him to Liam’s house, but will the good doc come up with a diagnosis? What is wrong with Pollard?

Eric diagnosed with Parkinson’s in Emmerdale

Exactly a year ago, in November 2023, Pollard revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Eric first confided in Mandy about his illness, but begged her to keep it a secret. He refused to tell partner Brenda, son David or grandson Jacob.

He confessed that he’d been experiencing numbness and tingling as well as being less steady on his feet.

Emmerdale worked closely with the charity Parkinson’s UK to portray the story as accurately as possible. The soap assured viewers the story would play out on screen over a long period of time.

At the time Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw said: “When Eric Pollard is diagnosed with Parkinson’s he’s naturally very scared and unsure of what the condition means for his future. The unique position of a show like Emmerdale means we can tell this story really authentically over a long period of time and we can really shine a light on what a diagnosis like this means and follow Pollard on his journey of learning to live with it.

“Working closely with Parkinson’s UK, who have been guiding us through every step of the way, we hope seeing Pollard’s story helps to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and show the day to day reality of those living with it, as well as the impact it can have on friends, family and the local community.”

Eric Pollard actor, Chris Chittell said: “I feel really privileged to be given this storyline. Parkinson’s is indiscriminate, deceptive and wickedly unkind targeting so many. I want to do this storyline justice for the most courageous of people who are having to bear the brunt of this condition.”

Is Eric Pollard going to die in Emmerdale?

This week’s scenes have concerned fans who have speculated Pollard might die. It comes after a freshly dug grave was spotted on set by a fan on the Emmerdale tour. The grave is positioned next to his beloved wife Val – could this mean something? With Pollard clearly unwell, viewers have started to wonder.

One fan commented on X: “Emmerdale are so setting up Eric’s death this is so sad.” Another added: “Don’t like Eric getting bad when it’s nearly Christmas. Don’t want a Christmas death.”

In fact, tonight we will discover Pollard does not have access to his usual medication due to a shortage. That and the stress caused by his altercation with Caleb are what is escalating his symptoms. But can Liam help Pollard get back on top of this?

It’s not long before defiant Eric is back working in the shop, much to Caleb’s surprise. He’s not giving up yet!

And with a Christmas wedding on the horizon for him and Brenda there’s still life in Pollard yet. However, Brenda is also said to be leaving after 16 years, so chances are there’s also more drama ahead too.

  • The love story of Val and Eric Pollard: Cheating, HIV diagnosis and tragic death

The love story of Val and Eric Pollard: Cheating, HIV diagnosis and tragic death

Val and Eric Pollard in Emmerdale had both been round the block a few times when they found one another. With several spouses, ex-partners, kids and grandkids between them, it looked like this was one relationship that was doomed before it even began.

But instead Val and Eric became one of Emmerdale’s best-loved couples of all time, and Eric’s heartfelt eulogy at Val’s funeral left fans sobbing!

    Here’s their story.

Val Lambert (Charlie Hardwick) and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell)

Early days for Val and Eric

Pollard was a ruthless, manipulative conman when Valerie arrived in the village. He’d been married to Elizabeth, who died in the plane crash, letting Eric cash in on her life insurance. And it turned out he was still married to his first wife, Eileen, when he married Elizabeth!

He’d also tied the knot unsuccessfully with Dee and Gloria.

But when Val Lambert arrived in the village, the pair hit it off! Well, eventually. After Val had a steamy affair with her former brother-in-law Rodney Blackstock, only to end up being disowned by most of her family when the affair was revealed.

And when she admitted that Rodney was also the biological father of her son, Paul, her family relationships got even trickier!

With things hard for Val, she and Eric went into business together, running a fabric company. The sparks flew and they were soon enjoying a romance.

Obstacles in Val and Eric’s way

But of course, nothing’s ever simple in Emmerdale, and there were all sorts of obstacles in Val and Eric’s way. First there was Val’s ex – Jimmy Pepper – showing up. He demanded Val pay him all the money he’d given her over the years when he thought he was Paul’s dad. Val embezzled the cash from the pub and sister Diane dobbed her in to the police.

Then there was Eric’s long-lost son David Metcalfe showing up. It took Eric a while to believe David was who he said he was, but they eventually forged a bond.

Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) and Val Lambert (Charlie Hardwick) complete their vows together with the village watching on.

    Tying the knot

Eventually though, Val and Eric tied the knot in a very Val ceremony, and they settled down to life together.

They fostered troubled teenager Amy Wyatt and things were good. Until Amy got pregnant, and decided to give the little boy – Kyle – up for adoption.

Val didn’t want the baby to be given up, and she thought Eric had encouraged Amy to have Kyle adopted. The pair split, Val emptied the bank account and headed off to Portugal.

    Missing Val

Thinking Val wasn’t returning, Eric began a romance with Brenda Walker. When Val came home she was FUMING. She marched into the pub and demanded that David help her win Eric back. When David said no, Val attacked him! But David’s wife, Alicia, got involved, punched Val in the face and got sentenced to a year in prison for assault.

The villagers all shunned Val, but she eventually won them over – and won Eric back!

Despite Val Pollard [CHARLIE HARDWICK] being terrified of telling Eric Pollard [CHRIS CHITTELL], she is determined to face up to her fears.
Val told Eric she could be HIV Positive (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    HIV Positive

In 2014, Val got bad news when a fling from her time in Portugal, Ian Chamberlain (played by Robert Cavanah, who’s currently playing DS Foy), arrived in the village. He told her he was HIV positive and warned her she could be, too.

Once more Val and Eric split, this time thanks to her odd behaviour. Eric had a drunken one-night stand with Val’s sister, Diane, before the pair reconciled and Val told him the truth. Meanwhile, Victoria had spilled the beans to Diane, who’d got herself treatment, just in case.

When Val’s HIV status was outed by Jacob, things really fell apart. Eric and Val split, and Val spiralled into destructive behaviour.

Thankfully, they reconciled once more. With Val in trouble for committing fraud, and Eric having suffered a heart attack, she came up with a brilliant plan to fake her own death.

Val Pollard played by Charley Webb lies in the rubble of the collapsed hall of mirrors maze, surrounded by debris and broken mirror glass.
Val’s death was brutal and shocking (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    Val’s tragic death

In 2015, Pete Barton and Debbie Dingle had a fairground in the village as part of their wedding celebrations. Val was in the hall of mirrors with Diane, having been locked in by Eric, who was fed up with their arguing. When an explosion at the haulage yard caused by Chrissie White, hit a helicopter, tragedy struck. The helicopter plunged into the fairground, trapping Diane and Val.

Diane was rescued first but Val was stabbed by a shard of broken glass. Her death was shocking as she defiantly stared up at the glass dangling overhead and declared: “Come on then, do your worst.”

    Eric’s heartbreak

The aftermath of Val’s death was heartbreaking for poor Eric. Because Val had thought about faking her death, it took a while for him to accept she was really gone.

At Val’s funeral he gave a tearjerking eulogy, saying “Without her I am lost in the dark again”.

    SOB!

Eric’s since found happiness with Brenda, who’s supporting him through his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Fans fear for Pollard’s life as his health takes a turn amidst Christmas death rumours

Fans of Emmerdale have been left in fear for the life of Eric Pollard after his health appeared to be in sharp decline. This came during last night’s episode (Monday, November 11), as Pollard clashed with Caleb over lorries running riot through the village.

Taking umbrage at Caleb’s dismissive tone, Pollard took actions into his own hands. He jumped into one of the lorries and subsequently backed it into a pile of crates. Pollard put on a brave face, but he knew it had been a result of his Parkinson’s symptoms.

Caleb then popped around to see him later, threatening to call the police if he didn’t stop kicking up a fuss over his lorries.

Emmerdale fans worry over Pollard amid Parkinson’s flare-up

Fans took to social media as these scenes aired to share their concerns about Pollard. And some took his visible Parkinson’s symptoms as a bad omen.

“Don’t like Eric getting bad when it’s nearly Christmas. Don’t want a Christmas death,” fretted one fan.

“Eric is gonna die next year,” said another.

“Eric struggling with his Parkinson’s,” pointed out a third.

Have fans been given cause for worry?

    Emmerdale death teased this Christmas

The fears for Pollard come as Metro.co.uk reports a death is imminent in the Dales. They shared pictures from a fan who did the Emmerdale tour and a freshly dug grave could be seen.

The fan reportedly wrote alongside the snaps: “Did the Emmerdale tour on Saturday and we got to meet the gorgeous Billy (Jay Kontzle). We flew in from Dublin first flight in last flight out it was great. Also, there was a fresh GRAVE!!! See pics.

“I told Billy it better not be his grave and he said no but I am in that storyline! – any guesses?????”

So far rumours suggest it could be Leyla who dies when Roxy Shahidi leaves the soap after 16 years. But could it be Eric? Or even Brenda?

Pollard’s health worsens as Brenda exits the dales

Eric’s worsening health comes as the soap announced that actress Lesley Dunlop is set to leave the soap.

A source told The Mirror: “The show has grown a lot bigger in recent years but soaps are expensive to make. It’s inevitable saving money means losing people – but it’s a huge shame all the same for those involved, their friends and colleagues.”

How exactly Brenda will leave remains to be seen, but it may well play into Eric’s ongoing Parkinson’s story.

  • Three theories on how Brenda will leave the soap after Lesley Dunlop exit news

Three theories on how Brenda will leave the soap after Lesley Dunlop exit news

It has been reported that Lesley Dunlop will exit Emmerdale as Brenda Walker, but it’s not yet known how she’ll leave the Dales.

A source told The Mirror: “There have been so many exits recently and the talk is of more. With people like Lesley and Roxy potentially in the mix, nobody feels safe.

“The show has grown a lot bigger in recent years but soaps are expensive to make. It’s inevitable saving money means losing people – but it’s a huge shame all the same for those involved, their friends and colleagues.”

As speculation has already begun over what Brenda’s exit storyline will be, we’ve taken a look at the theories floating around.

    How will Brenda leave Emmerdale?

It has been a traumatic year for Brenda, as she went through a relationship crisis with partner Eric Pollard following his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

She was also devastated when surrogate son Heath was killed in a car crash after Angelica lost control of the wheel.

Lesley, who is married to co-star Chris Chittell in real life, has been a part of Emmerdale for 16 years. Will her character face more trauma before her exit?

    1. Brenda to die?

Ten years ago, Brenda survived a brain tumour. Fans have suggested that this could come back or that she’ll meet a grisly end another way.

Brenda and Eric are happy in their relationship, so some viewers feel death would be the only realistic exit for Brenda.

“Surely it means they will be killing her off as she wouldn’t leave Eric unless he’s dying so she leaves?,” one fan wrote in an Emmerdale fan Facebook group.

Another fan agreed, writing: “She’s hardly been in it this year. I’ve got a feeling Brenda will die.”

    2. Brenda to move to Canada

In 2013, Brenda’s adoptive daughter, Gennie, died after being suffocated by Cameron following a car accident.

Gennie had a young daughter, Mollie, who lives with her father Nikhil in Canada. Could Brenda decide to move closer to her granddaughter?

“It’ll break Pollard’s heart when she offs to Canada to be with Nikhil and our Genesis’ kid,” wrote one fan on X.

    3. Brenda and Eric to leave together

With many viewers struggling to see a way Brenda will leave without Eric, some have suggested that perhaps Eric will go too.

“I’m hoping she and Eric just gets in a taxi and leaves. Perhaps moving to be closer to David? Since they are a couple irl he could see this as an opportunity to retire. I don’t want to lose Eric, but it’s better than him mourning yet another partner,” wrote one fan on Reddit.

Another fan agreed, writing: “Yeah that sounds good, especially as they are married in real life. Jacob could go with them.”

A third viewer suggested that Eric’s Parkinson’s story could be revisited as part of their exit. “His exit story perhaps? He could be leaving with Brenda for specialist care.”
