  • David, Alicia and Priya to return for Leyla funeral? The latest on their potential Emmerdale comebacks

David, Alicia and Priya to return for Leyla funeral? The latest on their potential Emmerdale comebacks

Leyla Harding was confirmed as the latest Emmerdale death after the terrifying limo crash. But as she dies, will we see familiar faces return for her funeral?

The Emmerdale ice stunt has had viewers gripped all week as it has claimed the lives of two villagers. In extremely heartbreaking scenes we saw Jacob find out that Leyla had died.

She wasn’t the only one, as Suzy also died on impact when the limo crashed. So, as we’re now looking at two funerals, will David, Alicia and Priya return to say goodbye to Leyla? Here’s everything we know.

Will David return for Leyla’s funeral?

It would be weird if we didn’t see at least one of these three characters appear to say goodbye to the Emmerdale icon. David and Leyla had an on and off relationship for years. And as Jacob’s dad, we would expect to see him make a reappearance.

Matthew Wolfenden left Emmerdale at the end of 2023. David cut ties with Jacob after his relationship with Victoria, and headed for a life away from the village.

But now that Leyla’s dead and Jacob is no longer with his dad’s ex-girlfriend, could he come back for the funeral?

Speaking to The Sun about a potential return, Matthew hasn’t ruled it out. Especially as he has just finished his stint in Elf: The Musical.

He said: “Luckily, John Whinston, the big boss at Emmerdale, wrote me a lovely email saying ‘Look, we’re not going to kill you off. That is not me saying you can come back.’ They can’t say that. But the door will be left open for the character of David which was very nice.

“It does give you that option. You never know, I might go knocking on the door and say ‘Can I come back please.’ It’s such a great place to work.”

    Alicia smiling in Emmerdale
Surely Leyla’s own sister will be at her funeral (Credit: ITV)

    What about Alicia?

Alicia is literally Leyla’s sister. And Jacob’s adoptive mother. So her return seems to be the one that fits the most with the current storyline.

Leyla died putting others above her for the first time in a while. And she thought she had let Jacob down. So wouldn’t it be fitting for those who loved Leyla but didn’t get the chance to show her it, go to her funeral?

Alicia hasn’t been seen in the village in ten years, so her comeback would be huge for the show. And as Natalie Anderson’s time on Hollyoaks came to an end in 2022, could she return as Alicia.

Speaking to The Daily Star during her time on Hollyoaks, Natalie admitted Emmerdale wasn’t her focus at that point.

However, she added: “I still love Emmerdale with all my heart!”

But circumstances change, and a return to Emmerdale after Leyla’s tragic death would be something fans want to see.

    Priya looks concerned in Emmerdale
It would make sense for Priya to be at the funeral (Credit: ITV)

Could Priya return after Leyla’s Emmerdale death?

The final return that makes sense is Priya Sharma. She and Leyla had a close friendship over the years. And both had previous relationships with David.

In early 2023, Fiona Wade stepped away from her role as Priya. And at the time she admitted she was looking forward to a break from live television. But in 2024 she hit the road touring in a theatre play.

And while fans could be hoping for a Priya return, Fiona admitted last year, that she doesn’t regret leaving the show.

She told OK! Magazine: “It was incredibly kind that they left the door open for Priya. But I trust myself and I know it was the right decision. I don’t want to live looking back, that’s not my personality. I want to live life knowing I fully jumped with confidence. And I think I have done that.”

So out of all three, Matthew’s return as David looks most likely. And as his on-screen dad, Eric, has also been having a tough time lately, if he comes back – maybe he will stick around. And if none of them return, what will be the reasons given? Or will Leyla be forced to have an off-screen funeral which she does not deserve.

  • Why Emmerdale deserves all the awards after this week’s horrifying and amazing episodes – opinion

Why Emmerdale deserves all the awards after this week’s horrifying and amazing episodes – opinion

The highly anticipated Emmerdale crash took place this week. And the scenes that followed were proof that the soap remains at the top. It’s been a while since we have been this gripped by any soap. And it’s weeks like this that deserve the recognition during award season.

In the space of five days, Emmerdale has killed off three (technically four) characters, airing twist after twist every night. Everyone had heard the reports that Roxy Shahidi was leaving during this stunt. But nobody knew about the others.

With people fearing that soaps are struggling behind-the-scenes, use these episodes as evidence is still as amazing as it always has been. It truly will go down as one of the best week’s in Emmerdale history. And here is why we think the soap deserves all the awards.

This week’s episodes have been heartbreaking (Credit: ITV)

    Heartbreakingly beautiful

The whole week was just heartbreak after heartbreak. But yet even in the tragic final moments of some villagers, we were blown away by how beautiful the scenes were.

This is all thanks to the incredibly talented Emmerdale cast who all smashed it. But from the second the week started it just felt like everyone stepped it up.

From Jacob breaking down when Leyla died, Kerry and Matty’s gut-wrenching goodbyes to Amy, to Eric’s monologue at the end of last night’s episode – the whole week made sure there wasn’t a dry eye watching.

The cast took the emotional scenes and broke our hearts. But even in the peak of the sadness, Emmerdale still managed to put a smile on our faces.

When Liam woke up, he instantly made a joke to Chas (This is why we need him around), allowing us to catch our breaths and actually enjoy something that is happening.

The stunt remained character-led (Credit: ITV)

Extra cinematography and sound but a character-led stunt

It’s impossible to talk about this week’s episodes without giving a big shout-out to those who worked behind the scenes to make it feel like a film. There’s no denying that the camera quality was different than usual. That’s because it was. The team at Emmerdale knew they wanted this week to make an impact. And so the added use of higher quality movie-like cameras truly made us feel more captured by the story.

Alongside that, the added atmosphere that was created by the music throughout the whole week truly got us gripped. It felt like a week long movie that we never wanted to end!

That being said, something we really appreciated was that at the core of the stunt were the characters. Sometimes soaps go all out for a stunt that is more action than connection – but that was far from the case with the ice stunt.

All of the characters were emotional and scared. And they all were at the focus. Nobody took centre stage, and nobody was thrown to the side. Even the back and forth from the girls to the boys limo – everyone was included.

    The twists and deaths

We all knew someone wasn’t making out of the Emmerdale crash alive. But for three people to lose their lives really kept us at the edge of our seats. Any time we thought the tragedies were over, more happened. Keeping the exits under-wrap really led us all to a false sense of security. And honestly, it made more of an impact when we didn’t know it was coming.

And sometimes with stunts, soaps take the easy route out and only kill the person that everyone knew was leaving. But not this time. There were no cop outs this week. And Emmerdale need applauded for that.

They proved they can still shock us. And evidence of that is the huge unexpected Nate twist (The gasp I let out when I realised). Even though fans suspected there was something more to Nate’s exit, we never in million years expected his body to be under the ice.

    The storylines that will follow

The repercussions of this week will be around for a long time. While we are devastated to say goodbye to Suzy, Leyla and Amy, it’s impossible not to note how these deaths will affect so many other villagers.

Suzy’s death will obviously cause a huge impact on Vanessa. But also it gives potential for Mary to have more screen-time. Then Jacob has to find a way to cope with his mum’s death, and that’s surely going to impact his own relationships with those around him. And Kerry and Matty has to deal with losing Amy.

Not only them, but Eric has just lost two people he cared about a lot. And now Kyle’s entire life has been thrown into chaos. Alongside this, Charity will have to come to terms with the fact she is responsible for three more deaths.

And then there is the fact Emmerdale has another murderer. Is the long-standing theory that John Sugden is a serial killer actually true? Whether it is him or not, knowing Nate’s body is under the lake means even more people’s lives are going to change in the coming months.

Well done Emmerdale. The scenes this week truly proved that they aren’t going anywhere. And that we truly do have some amazing actors on our screens every night. We were truly gripped all week. And we can’t wait to see what comes next.

Natalie Ann Jamieson breaks silence after soap’s decision to axe Amy Barton as fans heartbroken over the episode

Last night’s heartbreaking episode of Emmerdale confirmed that Amy had become the latest limo crash death.

Amy went under the ice for a brief period of time, and contracted severe hypothermia. And despite getting her to a stable condition, she went into cardiac arrest and died.

This means Natalie Ann Jamieson has bid farewell to the soap after six years. Although the character had been previously played by Chelsea Halfpenny from 2010.

After the heartbreaking episode aired, Natalie posted on her Instagram, thanking fans for their support over the years.

The Emmerdale star posted a series of behind-the-scenes content from her final scenes, and gushed about her time in the village.

She wrote: “Goodbye Amy. I have had the best six years of my life playing this gobby Geordie with a heart of gold!

“What a way to go – so so proud of the cast and crew who achieved all of this in these last few eps!”

Natalie admitted she has “so many more amazing things to say” about her time on the show, but she doesn’t yet have the words.

She continued: “For tonight, I just want to say thank you for everything! And thank you to every one of you who came on the journey with me. And for all your beautiful messages you have sent to me.”

Her fellow co-stars were quick to comment on the post, sharing how much they will miss having her on screen.

Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle) wrote: “We miss that smile and energy in the building already mate. Go and shine our kid.”

While her on-screen husband, Ash Palmisciano (Matty Barton) commented: “Going to miss you so much. So proud of you this week! You have been incredible.”

Fans left heartbroken over Emmerdale Amy death

Ash shared his own tribute to Natalie on his own Instagram page, expressing his “sadness” that she is gone.

He wrote: “Matty will never be the same. I am so proud of the very talented Natalie Ann Jamieson and all of her incredible work this week.

“We have had so many laughs over the years working together. And now I have a mate for life. I couldn’t have asked for a better soap wife.”

The cast of Emmerdale weren’t the only ones heartbroken by Amy’s death, as fans all shared the feeling.

Taking to X after the episode, one fan wrote: “Killing Amy off is a step too far.”

Another shared: “This [Amy’s death] made me shed a tear. Amy will be missed. So sad to see Natalie Ann Jamieson go. It would have been nice to see where this trans marriage and adoption storyline would go.”

Natalie wasn’t the only cast member bowing out this week, as Roxy Shahidi said goodbye to 16 years as Leyla Harding. And after her emotional death aired, she revealed it wasn’t her choice to be killed off.

2 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight: The police arrive and villagers grieve

It’s the end of a heartbreaking week, and according to Emmerdale spoilers for tonight, the drama is still not over.

Tonight on Emmerdale, we see the survivors and other villagers try to come to terms with what happened. And the police (finally) show up.

Read on for full Emmerdale spoilers for tonight’s episode.

    The villagers grieve

After the three deaths, there are a lot of villagers who have had their lives impacted by the losses.

We saw Jacob lash out, Kyle break down and Eric give a heart-wrenching monologue. And that was all just their initial reactions.

Tonight, reality starts to set in, and they begin to realise they are never going to see their loved ones again.

And can someone tell poor Eric that not only has he lost Leyla – but also Amy, who was like a daughter to him and Val for years.

The police have questions for Noah

In a twist last night, it was confirmed that Joe was behind Noah’s drugging. But for what reason, we don’t know.

We know there has been something going on with Joe’s health ever since he made his Christmas Day return. But what could cause such dramatic measures?

Tonight, the police finally arrive at the hospital (took them long enough). And while you would think Charity would be their go to, the person they have the most questions for is Noah.

They want to get to the bottom of why he was staggering out in the middle of the road. And who drugged him.

But if Noah thinks about it, will he begin to unlock more memories of what his brother did to him?

And are we about to finally know what’s going on with Joe Tate?

  • All the ‘flaws’ in limo crash scenes in Emmerdale as fatalities revealed

All the ‘flaws’ in limo crash scenes in Emmerdale as fatalities revealed

Emmerdale has confirmed more deaths in the limo crash, as they reveal who the fatality in the ambulance was.

Last night’s episode ended with confirmation that someone else lost their life. And tonight, it was revealed to be Leyla Harding.

Fans knew Roxy Shahidi was bowing out of the soap, and there were reports suggesting Leyla would lose her life in the crash. And heartbreaking scenes confirmed this tonight.

However, despite the incredible storytelling, viewers can’t help but notice the flaws. So let’s have a look at what was odd about the episode.

Leyla was confirmed dead tonight (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale limo crash flaws – Did anyone remember Suzy died?

While admittedly there was a lot going on, nobody (other than Vanessa) seemed bothered that Suzy had just died.

In last night’s episode, when Charity finally got through to the emergency services, she was asked if anyone had been hurt. And while she very quickly mentioned Noah, she seemingly forgot about Suzy.

The focus was very much on those still alive. But once they found out about Leyla’s death, they were all devastated.

Vanessa was the only one who seemed to care that Suzy had died in the limo crash. And even she admitted she “can’t remember” the last thing they spoke about. But when Tracy told her about Leyla, she seemed even more upset about that.

While Suzy may not have been that relevant to the show at the moment and fans insisting she was “underused”, her death deserved a bit more attention.

Whether or not there will be a bigger focus on it in the upcoming episodes remains to be seen. But as Emmerdale just lost a big character in Lelya, we have a feeling Suzy won’t be the focus.

Sarah walks into room where Jacob is with Leyla's body in Emmerdale

Sarah walked straight in to see Jacob

Jacob’s world came tumbling down (again) when he realised his mum had died. And after their last conversation, we’re sure he will be beating himself up.

As he was left alone with Leyla’s body, Sarah and Mackenzie arrived to see Charity and Noah. And after she was filled in on what happened to Leyla, Sarah headed straight for her boyfriend.

And she was able to just walk straight in to the room where Jacob and Leyla were. Nobody tried to stop her. Surely there would be rules against just anybody walking in to a room with a dead body?

Tracy and Vanessa are upset in Emmerdale

    Where is the police?

A crash this big, with two people confirmed dead and more injured is definitely due an investigation from the police. But where are they?

When emergency services arrived at the scene, there were only ambulances present. No police cars went to the lake. So you would imagine they were heading to the hospital – but no.

By the time all ambulances arrived, there were still no police. Mackenzie and Matty even had time to leave the pub, pick Sarah up and head to the hospital – and there were still no sign of anybody investigating the crash.

Aside from these and the other few flaws earlier in the week, this week’s episodes of Emmerdale have been gripping for viewers, who are deeming it the best in years.

3 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight: The victims arrive at the hospital, but who didn’t make it?

In Emmerdale spoilers tonight, the aftermath of the horrific limo crash continues as the victims are admitted to hospital. But which one died on their way there?

Tuesday’s episode saw the girls try to escape their limo in the middle of a frozen lake one by one. The limo eventually sunk, with an already dead Suzy still inside.

As several ambulances containing the villagers headed towards the hospital, a paramedic was heard informing the hospital that they had one victim dead on arrival. Tonight, we find out who that is.

Here’s everything that happens on Emmerdale tonight, Wednesday February 19.

A harrowing time in Emmerdale spoilers tonight

With their loved ones in danger, it’s a harrowing time for some.

Charity is worried about son Noah – who inadvertently caused the crash when he stepped in front of the limo. Meanwhile, how will Jacob react when he sees his mum Leyla has been admitted?

    Who doesn’t make it?

It was revealed at the end of yesterday’s episode that one victim of the crash died while on the way to the hospital. In Emmerdale tonight, we find out who that is.

Numerous villagers were in a critical condition while in their ambulance. Noah Dingle was disorientated, while Amy Barton was in danger after being submerged in a freezing lake for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, Leyla Harding looked like she was losing a lot of blood after being stabbed with some glass, and Liam Cavanagh was barely conscious.

  • Why Amy definitely won’t die in the Emmerdale lake crash

Why Amy definitely won’t die in the Emmerdale lake crash

The lake limo crash in Emmerdale has had us gripped this week with lives on the line – but we’re pretty certain Amy Barton is not one of those who will die.

Amy is very much at risk, and one thing we know is she is one of four people in an ambulance being taken to hospital. One of those four has been declared dead.

Although some fans are certain Amy has met her maker, we’re certain she hasn’t – let us explain why.

Emmerdale tonight saw one more death

On Tuesday February 18, the aftermath of the lake limo crash continued. With Chas, Liam, Vanessa and Tracy safely away from the vehicle, Amy had fallen under the ice. Tracy risked her own life to go back and pull her out from the water. With hypothermia setting in, Amy lost consciousness and when the ambulance crew arrived she was unresponsive.

Meanwhile, Liam had had a nasty bump to the head. He was lying in Chas’ arms, struggling to stay awake. She begged him to keep with her, but he slowly fell asleep.

In the limo, Leyla revealed to Kerry glass had impaled her side in the crash. She too was struggling to keep her eyes open. Kerry refused to leave her and despite having a broken foot herself, started to drag her across the ice. When Kerry almost fell in, Vanessa went to help and pulled Leyla to safety. But was it too late?

Also at risk was Noah, who Charity had found in the woodland, collapsed to the floor. He was taken in an ambulance, but we are pretty sure he survives and is revealed to have been spiked.

So with these lives on the line, when the paramedic in one ambulance announced “one patient dead on arrival” we all wondered who it was.

Why we’re sure Amy will not die in Emmerdale

Although some believe Amy has met a watery fate, we think there is one very good reason she will definitely survive: what she saw under the water.

As Amy sank down to the depths, she was terrified to see a dead body. We only saw the hand, but what that hand showed us was a distinctive bracelet – just like the ones little Frankie made and just like the one her daddy, Nate Robinson, was wearing when he abruptly left the Dales and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

So we are pretty convinced Nate is under the water and Amy is the only one who knows about it. Therefore she HAS to survive so she can tell everyone. And then we’ve got a whole other storyline that looks into how he died.

It all ties in to the flashforward that saw Cain weeping at a grave – Nate is his son, so it all adds up.

And Amy is the key to moving this storyline forward, so there’s no way she’ll die. That just leaves Leyla and Liam…

  • Emmerdale fans can’t decide who died tonight – but it’s not looking good for Amy, Leyla and Liam

Emmerdale fans can’t decide who died tonight – but it’s not looking good for Amy, Leyla and Liam

Four unconscious Emmerdale faves were taken to hospital on Tuesday February 18, but one was declared dead on arrival – so who died tonight? We can’t decide and neither can fans.

Amy, Leyla, Liam and Noah were all rushed to Hotten General for urgent treatment. Only Noah hadn’t been in the limo that crashed onto the ice – but he was the reason it crashed when Charity swerved to avoid him.

After Charity got herself out of the car and found her son unconscious in the woods, she managed to call for help. But the emergency services arrived too late for one person. Who?

    Emmerdale confirms another death

On Tuesday February 18, the drama after the limo lake crash continued. With Charity, Chas, Tracy, Vanessa and Liam all safely on the banks of the lake, Liam’s condition started to worsen. Chas tried to keep him awake and as warm as she could, but he had a bump to the head and was disorientated and clearly in a bad way.

Meanwhile, Amy fell in the ice last night, where she discovered a dead body. She was fighting to get back up to the top, but couldn’t break through the ice again and started to sink down. Fortunately, Tracy risked her own life to rush back across the lake and pull her out.

As Amy lay shivering on the embankment, hypothermia was clearly setting in. By the time the ambulances arrived, Kerry was craddling her daughter in her arms, but she was unconscious.

In the limo, Leyla had remained silent about the glass that had cut her side. She finally told Kerry, who insisted she wouldn’t leave her behind and dragged her out. But with a broken foot, Kerry couldn’t save the both of them and when she almost fell through the ice, Vanessa rushed back across to drag Leyla to safety.

However, Leyla was now unconscious and it isn’t looking good for her at all.

As the ambulances finally arrived, the three in the worst condition were loaded in. Also taken away was Noah, who was unconscious as well – but no one knows what has happened to him.

Just before the credits rolled, one of the paramedics radioed in to the hospital that one person was dead on arrival. But we don’t know who.

    Who died in Emmerdale tonight?

So we know Amy, Liam, Leyla and Noah were in a critical condition. It looks like Noah will survive, given we know his storylines later in the week. So that leaves Amy, Liam and Leyla.

Speculation was rife after the episode: “I wonder who it’s gonna be that goes? It’s between Liam, Leyla, Amy or Noah. I’m thinking it’s going to be Leyla as she was badly injured!” shared one viewer on social media.

Other fans were more certain in their theories.

“Amy has to be the one dead confirmed on arrival right?” said one. Another agreed: “I think Amy is sadly dead in the ice.”

But more popular than Amy were Leyla and Liam: “I fear Leyla has just died,’we have one patient, dead on arrival’, my heart is physically in pieces, I have adored Leyla for so many years it’s gonna hurt so much to lose her.”

Someone else said: “The way Leyla is prob gonna die (bc Roxy has left) and I’m not ready to lose her.”

“Pretty certain it will be Liam and Leyla that die,” shared another.

Liam also proved a popular choice: “Have a feeling Liam is going to be the next one not to survive this limousine accident,” said one. “I reckon Liam too, because Chas never gets any happiness does she?” agreed another.

  • If it is Nate’s hand in the lake in Emmerdale – who killed him? All the fan theories so far

If it is Nate’s hand in the lake in Emmerdale – who killed him? All the fan theories so far

In what is already proving to be quite the dramatic week in Emmerdale (and it’s only Tuesday!) a hand was discovered under the icy lake and fans are convinced it belongs to Nate Robinson. But if it is, how did it get there?

Viewers and Emmerdale Insider have long since wondered if Nate was actually dead rather in than in Shetland as has been claimed. And now it seems we might be a step closer to finding out the truth…

Amy finds a hand – with a familiar friendship bracelet on – in the icy lake after the limo crash

Last night (Monday February 17) the girls’ limo crashed onto an icy lake and started to fall through. Suzy Merton was killed on impact and the other women (and Liam) forced to get out of the limo one by one carefully crossing the ice.

Liam, Chas, Vanessa and Tracy made it to safety, but Amy who was next to go, fell through the ice. She plunged into the water below and as she sunk to the depths she was confronted by a dead body – with us seeing just the hand, wearing a distinctive friendship bracelet. Very similar to the ones Frankie loves to make for everyone…

What happened to Nate in Emmerdale?

Nate left the Dales last year. He was supposedly taking a job in Shetland, which is known for being remote. He has barely been in touch since he went, sending just one message to ex Tracy telling her he wasn’t ready to talk and he would be in touch when he was.

The last viewers saw of Nate, he was off to confront Moira Dingle. She was unknowingly in the grips of her brain tumour and had made a pass at him. Caleb had witnessed it, told Cain and Cain had beaten his son. Nate tried to explain it was nothing and he had pushed her away, but Cain wanted nothing to do with him.

Tracy, with whom he had recently reconciled, also ended things and told him to go to Shetland alone.

Fans have long-since wondered why Nate’s exit was so abrupt. We never actually saw him leave and the last interaction he had was with John Sugden.

The fact he has not contacted his beloved daughter, who he once wanted sole custody of, nor did he respond to messages about his grandad Zak’s death, is highly susicious.

    Who killed Nate in Emmerdale?

So let’s assume for now the hand does belong to Nate. Other theories include the most obvious, Anthony, whose body was disposed of by John Sugden last month after his death. But taking him out of the equation (Frankie definitely wouldn’t have made him a friendship bracelet!), just what did happen to Nate?

    John Sugden

The smart money is on mysterious John Sugden. He was the last person (we know of) to see Nate alive and is also VERY handy at cleaning up after a murder.

Fans seem pretty convinced, with one writing on social media: “My money is on psycho John.” Another queried: So did John kill Nate because he was the last to see Nate who just weirdly disappeared?”

“We all know it’s prob John that off’d him, but considering they had no real interaction or connection it makes no sense to why? Just seems like trying to force another serial killer storyline,” mused a third.

A fourth added: “I need a flashback to why John killed Nate. That guy was suspect from the start.”

“It would explain why John appeared to have disposed of a body before he got rid of Anthony’s…” a fifth commenter connected.

A sixth wrote: “I think John killed Nate and it’s something to do with his partner who was killing the Army, I think Nate was in the Army.”

    Caleb Miligan

There was no love lost between Caleb and Nate after the former slept with the latter’s wife, Tracy. Nate took revenge by scrapping all of Caleb’s cars. But would Caleb have killed to get him back?

“My theory is that Caleb killed Nate and so Cain will kill Caleb,” shared one viewer.

Another agreed: “My money’s on Caleb having killed him.”

    Moira Dingle

A quite out-there theory, but one that made sense at the time given Moira’s out of character behaviour.

“Moira shot Nate, John covered it up and we now know he threw the body in the lake,” said one fan on X.

Emmerdale fans bash Titanic-sized plot holes amid lake crash

Fans of Emmerdale have started to pick apart this week’s lake crash stunt – finding a series of gaping plot holes as the survivors of the limousine disaster fought for life.

This followed the events of Valentine’s Day, in which a limousine containing Charity, Chas, Amy, Kerry, Suzy, Vanessa, Tracy, Leyla and Doctor Liam crashed off the road onto an ice-covered lake.

Resting precariously on the surface, it was only a matter of time before the vehicle sank to the freezing depths below.

The survivors raced to dry land in Emmerdale last night

The women (and Liam) staged an escape last night (Monday, February 17), creeping across the ice to safety, one by one. This went better for some – Tracy, Liam and Charity all made it across without much trouble, while Chas took a tumble and Amy sank entirely.

Thrilling scenes… but some were distracted by the survivors’ somewhat counter-intuitive behaviour.

Emmerdale fans point out plot holes in ice lake crash

Writing on social media as the episode aired, fans registered their confusion at the survivors’ actions. And, among the questionable work on show, many noticed how members of the group kept slamming the limo door shut as they made their way out of the vehicle.

“What gets me is why they kept shutting the door every time they got out,” wrote one viewer on Reddit.

Others pointed out the strange choice to delicately totter across the ice (in heels, no less!) rather than carefully crawling.

“I wondered why they took so long to try to escape and why they didn’t crawl to spread their weight? So the ice could stand the weight of a limo with a load of people in but gave way at other points?” another viewer wrote.

“I don’t understand why nobody took their heels off to get across the ice and why everybody was slamming the door all hard, that makes no sense to me,” said a third.

Meanwhile, others wondered why – Charity aside – nobody was trying to call for help.

“Why is no one calling 999? Of course in soap world no one has a signal at all and no one around for miles,” one viewer pointed out.
