Three deaths, one break-up, one proposal and a body – what a week in Emmerdale!

This Emmerdale review is a bit tear-stained and blotchy. Because what a week it’s been in Emmerdale. What. A. Week. So much death and devastation and more on the horizon with the truth about Noah still to be revealed AND Nate’s body to be uncovered.

There’s a lot to say about everything that happened this week, so here’s what we thought in our Emmerdale review.

Will someone die as the limo plunges through the ice?
There was a lot of drama in this week’s Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)

    The limo crash

As stunts go, the limo crash wasn’t without its faults. The way everyone kept slamming the car door shut. The high heels on the thin ice. But watching those women make it across the frozen lake one by one was thrillingly tense!

And, as it turned out, the stunt wasn’t really the main focus of this week’s Emmerdale. The real story was everything that came afterwards. In fact, it’s hard to know where to start our Emmerdale review because it has been a week of such high drama and so many emotional moments.

    Caleb and Cain
    Exhausting (Credit: ITV)

    Caleb v Cain

Let’s start with the drama in the men’s limo and Caleb confronting Cain about him sleeping with Ruby. It’s hard to listen to Caleb being holier than thou when it comes to adultery and family loyalty. Let’s not forget he slept with his nephew’s wife. BUT the fact remains that Cain did a very bad thing. Mack told him he was pathetic, and we can’t help but agree. Even Cain himself said “there’s some things you can’t come back from”. He’s right!

We’re glad everyone knows, and we hope Ruby doesn’t get too much of the blame because we really feel like she wasn’t in her right mind when it happened. Though she does deserve a bit of the blame. A little bit.

There’s one thing we keep coming back to in all of this. And that’s how Cain and Caleb are exhausting. This endless ‘act first regret it later’ stuff is wearing us out. It was hard enough when it was just Cain but now Caleb’s here too, doing the same stuff. We need a break from it all!

    Emmerdale review: Leyla’s tragic death

We seemed to spend most of this week’s Emmerdale welling up, because it was all just so sad. Suzy’s death was horrible, and Vanessa having to leave her behind was really hard to watch.

But it was Leyla’s death that broke us! Jacob trying to resuscitate his mum was just devastating and him sobbing over Leyla’s body had us sobbing too. Joe-Warren Plant who plays the student doctor has smashed it out of the park this week – what a talent he is.

And it wasn’t just Jacob who had us in floods. The quiet sadness of Lydia telling Eric, and then Eric hugging his grandson made us weep all over again.

Vanessa and Suzy in the limo crash
Who’d be a lesbian in soap, eh? (Credit:ITV)

    Suzy and Amy’s deaths

There is a jokey – sort of jokey – trope on social media about the risk of being a lesbian in film and TV. It even has a name – Dead Lesbian Syndrome.  And there’s no denying that gay women do seem to die at an alarming rate in Corrie, Emmerdale and EastEnders. Now we’ve lost Suzy, too. And another LGBTQ relationship – Matty and Amy’s marriage – has been tragically cut short.

We thought it was worth pointing out, but none of that takes away from the utter sadness and shock of losing all three women this week. What a tragedy!

    Ambulances
Emmerdale was cinematic this week (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale review: like watching a film!

Soaps are like old friends, aren’t they? You know what to expect from them. But sometimes they surprise us. And Emmerdale definitely surprised us this week.

We are sometimes suspicious when soaps use cinematic techniques to tell their stories. Odd camera angles, and background music, and special effects make us wrinkle up our noses because it’s just not necessary, is it?

    Except when it is!

Emmerdale this week used the soaring, dramatic background music to amazing effect. The high shot of the ambulances heading to hospital made us catch our breath, and the paramedics on the radio saying someone had died put us on high alert. It was really clever storytelling and we loved it. We hold our hands up. We were wrong about this one! Totally converted to all this trickery.

Vanessa and Tracy finally get justice

We have long been bothered about how Kerry and Amy caused the death of Frank Clayton – Tracy and Vanessa’s dad – and just got away with it. And so, watching both women fight to save Amy was really moving. It was Tracy who got Amy out of the water, and they both held her tight after she was freed from the ice.

And then Amy died. She actually went and died. And now we definitely think justice has been done.

Nate Robinson's body floats back down into the water and we can see the distinctive bracelet (Credit: ITV)
Nate is in the lake (Credit: ITV)

    Nate’s in the water!

And while we’re on the subject of Amy, we can’t ignore what she saw in the lake. She saw NATE! We knew he was dead! We knew he wouldn’t have just swanned off to Shetland without even responding when Zak died. The question is, will a distraught and grieving Matty remember what his wife told him before she passed away?

And then right at the very end of Friday’s episode there was a dark figure lurking beside the water, watching the crime scene investigators drive away. Was this the murderer? Was it John Sugden? Or are we just supposed to think it’s John when really it was someone else entirely? We’re gripped by this twist!

Emmerdale review: Cain and Moira talk about his cheating
Cain has broken Moira’s heart (Credit: ITV)

Moira’s heartbreak in our Emmerdale review

Moira’s bleak acceptance of Cain cheating was absolutely heartbreaking. Almost like she’d been waiting for this to happen. We really felt for her. Right up until the point she went storming round to Ruby’s to shout at her. She knew what had happened. She knew how damaged and vulnerable Ruby was, but she still had to give her a piece of her mind. It’s totally on-brand for Moira, but it just seemed a bit unfair.

     Emmerdale review: Liam in hospital
Chas proposed to Liam in his hospital bed (Credit: ITV)

    Emmerdale review: Happy ever after?

We have to admit we weren’t always totally on-board with the much-married Chas hooking up with the much-married Dr Liam. But Liam’s proposal “you’re the ping to my pong” made us laugh, and then Chas proposing in hospital made us teary (yes, again – it’s been an emotional week).

We almost feel like everything in Chas’s life has led to this point. Gordon Livesy. Carl King. Cameron Murray. Al Chapman. All those bad decisions have got her to here, where she’s ready to marry Liam. And all Liam’s heartbreak – losing Leanna’s mum and then Leanna herself – has led to this. Maybe this is a happy ending for them both?

Could Steph be pregnant with Ross' baby?
    Stop whining, Steph (Credit: ITV)

    Give it a rest, Steph

Our dislike of sulky Steph continued this week when she was – once more – completely vile to her mum (while living in her house, drinking her wine and working for Caleb). She is like a moody teenager in a 30-something’s body and she needs to learn how to read the room.

While we totally get Ruby’s determination to protect her daughter from the awful truth about her parentage, we think it’s time Steph was told. We’re hazy on the biology stuff but we reckon there could be repercussions for Steph’s health, for any children she might have in the future. It feels an important thing to know. Plus it might stop her whining for 30 seconds and that’s got to be a good thing.

Emmerdale review: The men get in the limo
Same time next week, lads? (Credit: ITV)

    Too many men in Emmerdale?

This week’s Emmerdale was everything a soap should be – emotional, entertaining, dramatic, full of memorable moments both big and small. But there is one thing that is slightly niggling at us. And that’s the fact that all three of the deaths this week were women. How Take A Vow can continue without Suzy and Leyla is anyone’s guess!

At the moment, Emmerdale feels a bit men-heavy, with the toxic masculinity of Caleb, Mack, Cain and Aaron all hanging heavily over the village. Maybe we need another crash – with the fellas in danger this time!

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Kyle learned the truth about Cain and Ruby as the village mourned its losses and Jacob blamed Noah

The village began to grieve its losses in Emmerdale tonight (Friday, February 21), as the deaths of Suzy, Leyla and Amy were mourned by friends and loved ones. And, as Kyle picked up on an atmosphere between Cain and Moira, he learned the truth about his dad’s betrayal.

Elsewhere, Caleb tried to ease relations between Ruby and Steph, and Noah struggled to piece together his past.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight.

The village grieved in Emmerdale tonight

As a new dawn broke in the village, Charity watched as the limousine was taken away on the back of a lorry. Mack was on hand to reassure her that it hadn’t been her fault, but the three deaths weighed heavy on her conscience.

In the hospital, Pollard was desperate to get Jacob back home so he could begin grieving properly. Later, in the cafe, Sarah filled him in on what had happened with Noah.

Meanwhile, at what should have been their new home, Matty sobbed over a picture of Amy. Kerry found him in a state of devastation over Amy’s death, grieving the family they’d been about to start.

Elsewhere, Vanessa broke the news of Suzy’s death to Johnny. Thoughts of her own mortality running riot, Tracy spoke of how last night’s experience had made her wish that Nate were there. Oh, if only you knew, Trace…

And, later that night, as Vanessa continued to mourn, Tracy decided to give Nate a call. Going straight through to voicemail, she left her ex a message, filling him in on what had happened over the last few days.

Meanwhile, at the lake, a sinister hooded figure stood watch over the water. Beneath the surface, poor dead Nate remains, no closer to being found.

Kyle learned the truth about Cain and Ruby

Kyle found Cain asleep on the sofa. Having just lost his mum, he was worried that sick Moira would be next. She reassured Kyle that she was going nowhere, but he’d picked up on the atmosphere between the pair, and Moira was no closer to forgiving her cheating husband.

Later, in the cafe, Mack confronted Cain over the affair. Unaware that Kyle had been in earshot, Mack unwittingly spread the village’s hottest piece of gossip – and the youth suddenly realised why Cain was in the doghouse.

Cain and Mack tried to spin their way out of trouble, but it was too late – and the arguments and sleeping on the sofa all began to make sense. Refusing to go home with Cain, Kyle stormed over to Matty and Kerry, begging for a place to stay.

The grieving mum and husband were in no place for house guests though, and Moira was forced to admit that Cain had cheated on her as she picked him up.

Later, In the pub, Chas had some choice words for self-pitying Cain, who promptly headed off to do something stupid.

    Caleb tried to build bridges

Caleb was feeling hopeful about the future, although he was worried that Cain and Aaron might have swapped notes on his plans to frame Cain for Anthony’s murder. Just then, Steph walked in, with more unpleasant words for her parents.

Caleb tried to talk her around in the cafe, making it clear that the blame was entirely on Cain for taking advantage. Back home, he entreated Ruby to talk to Steph, encouraging her to tell her the full truth about what Anthony had done.

He then left again, on mysterious business. Possibly joining Cain in doing something stupid?

    Noah looks confused on Emmerdale

Noah tried to piece together the past

In the hospital, confused Noah tried to make sense of his fractured memories. Still reasoning that someone had spiked him, he shared his suspicions with the police, who promised to question Jacob’s mate.

Arriving back in the village, he was confronted by Jacob himself, who blamed him for his mother’s death – accusing him of being on drugs and lying about it to cover for the mess he’d caused.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Charles had the idea of arranging a vigil for the deceased. Can he bring the village together in their time of need?

  • Who was the hooded figure at the lake in Emmerdale? All the theories so far

Who was the hooded figure at the lake in Emmerdale? All the theories so far

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale saw a mystery figure standing guard over the lake where three people had died this week and Nate Robinson currently lies dead and decomposing.

Amy discovered Nate’s body as she fell through the ice while escaping the aftermath of a devastating limo crash which had already killed Suzy. Along with Leyla, Amy later died in hospital – but not before suffering visions of what she’d seen under the ice.

Who was standing watch at the lake on Emmerdale tonight?

There she’d encountered the body of Nate Robinson, wrapped up in plastic and still wearing one of Frankie’s hand-made friendship bracelets. Who killed Nate and how he came to be in the lake remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear… there’s a killer on the loose.

And that killer appeared to revisit the scene of the crime tonight, as a hooded figure stood watch over the lake from deep within the woods. But who was standing at the lake tonight?

    John in the Emmerdale village.

    John Sugden

Of all the names currently in the frame for killing Nate, John is going to be highest on everyone’s list. The composed military man raised suspicions with viewers for his eagerness and competency in covering up a murder, and many believe that Anthony was far from his first.

Add to that the mounting evidence (the way Nate’s body has been disposed of seems awfully familiar), and viewers are convinced that Emmerdale has a serial killer on its hands. Could John Sugden have returned to the scene of the crime tonight to check his handiwork remains hidden?

    Caleb smirking in Emmerdale

    Caleb

Nate’s uncle Caleb was indirectly responsible for his exit from the village – being the one to tell Cain that he’d spotted Moira snogging Nate in the barn. This misrepresentation of events led to Nate’s beating at the hands of Cain, and his decision to leave.

Many have long held suspicions that Caleb killed Nate, and this week’s events provided little proof otherwise. As the episode ended, Caleb stomped out of the house, clearly up to no good. But where was Caleb going? Did he go straight to the lake to visit Nate?

    Cain

Also skulking about the village on mysterious business, Cain was similarly unaccounted for as the episode ended. Finding him full of self-loathing in the pub, Chas entreated Cain to get over himself and make amends with Moira. Instead, he huffed off, on business unknown.

While it’s unlikely Cain killed his son, his whereabouts were unknown as the episode ended.

Did Jacob visit the lake in Emmerdale tonight?

There’s also the possibility that the lake’s mystery visitor may not be related to Nate at all. A tormented Jacob, perhaps, paying visit to the site where his mum died?

  • Why Emmerdale deserves all the awards after this week’s horrifying and amazing episodes – opinion

Why Emmerdale deserves all the awards after this week’s horrifying and amazing episodes – opinion

The highly anticipated Emmerdale crash took place this week. And the scenes that followed were proof that the soap remains at the top. It’s been a while since we have been this gripped by any soap. And it’s weeks like this that deserve the recognition during award season.

In the space of five days, Emmerdale has killed off three (technically four) characters, airing twist after twist every night. Everyone had heard the reports that Roxy Shahidi was leaving during this stunt. But nobody knew about the others.

With people fearing that soaps are struggling behind-the-scenes, use these episodes as evidence is still as amazing as it always has been. It truly will go down as one of the best week’s in Emmerdale history. And here is why we think the soap deserves all the awards.

Tracy and Vanessa crying and hugging in hospital
This week’s episodes have been heartbreaking (Credit: ITV)

    Heartbreakingly beautiful

The whole week was just heartbreak after heartbreak. But yet even in the tragic final moments of some villagers, we were blown away by how beautiful the scenes were.

This is all thanks to the incredibly talented Emmerdale cast who all smashed it. But from the second the week started it just felt like everyone stepped it up.

From Jacob breaking down when Leyla died, Kerry and Matty’s gut-wrenching goodbyes to Amy, to Eric’s monologue at the end of last night’s episode – the whole week made sure there wasn’t a dry eye watching.

The cast took the emotional scenes and broke our hearts. But even in the peak of the sadness, Emmerdale still managed to put a smile on our faces.

When Liam woke up, he instantly made a joke to Chas (This is why we need him around), allowing us to catch our breaths and actually enjoy something that is happening.

The stunt remained character-led (Credit: ITV)

Extra cinematography and sound but a character-led stunt

It’s impossible to talk about this week’s episodes without giving a big shout-out to those who worked behind the scenes to make it feel like a film. There’s no denying that the camera quality was different than usual. That’s because it was. The team at Emmerdale knew they wanted this week to make an impact. And so the added use of higher quality movie-like cameras truly made us feel more captured by the story.

Alongside that, the added atmosphere that was created by the music throughout the whole week truly got us gripped. It felt like a week long movie that we never wanted to end!

That being said, something we really appreciated was that at the core of the stunt were the characters. Sometimes soaps go all out for a stunt that is more action than connection – but that was far from the case with the ice stunt.

All of the characters were emotional and scared. And they all were at the focus. Nobody took centre stage, and nobody was thrown to the side. Even the back and forth from the girls to the boys limo – everyone was included.

The episodes were extremely emotional (Credit: ITV)

    The twists and deaths

We all knew someone wasn’t making out of the Emmerdale crash alive. But for three people to lose their lives really kept us at the edge of our seats. Any time we thought the tragedies were over, more happened. Keeping the exits under-wrap really led us all to a false sense of security. And honestly, it made more of an impact when we didn’t know it was coming.

And sometimes with stunts, soaps take the easy route out and only kill the person that everyone knew was leaving. But not this time. There were no cop outs this week. And Emmerdale need applauded for that.

They proved they can still shock us. And evidence of that is the huge unexpected Nate twist (The gasp I let out when I realised). Even though fans suspected there was something more to Nate’s exit, we never in million years expected his body to be under the ice.

    The storylines that will follow

The repercussions of this week will be around for a long time. While we are devastated to say goodbye to Suzy, Leyla and Amy, it’s impossible not to note how these deaths will affect so many other villagers.

Suzy’s death will obviously cause a huge impact on Vanessa. But also it gives potential for Mary to have more screen-time. Then Jacob has to find a way to cope with his mum’s death, and that’s surely going to impact his own relationships with those around him. And Kerry and Matty has to deal with losing Amy.

Not only them, but Eric has just lost two people he cared about a lot. And now Kyle’s entire life has been thrown into chaos. Alongside this, Charity will have to come to terms with the fact she is responsible for three more deaths.

And then there is the fact Emmerdale has another murderer. Is the long-standing theory that John Sugden is a serial killer actually true? Whether it is him or not, knowing Nate’s body is under the lake means even more people’s lives are going to change in the coming months.

Well done Emmerdale. The scenes this week truly proved that they aren’t going anywhere. And that we truly do have some amazing actors on our screens every night. We were truly gripped all week. And we can’t wait to see what comes next.

Could Liam still die? New Emmerdale fan theory predicts brain death twist

This week’s Emmerdale saw multiple lives hanging in the balance in the aftermath of a devastating limousine crash which claimed three lives and left others seriously injured – including village doctor Liam Cavanagh. As the car crashed into an ice-covered lake, unlucky party planner Suzy was killed instantly – and colleague Leyla followed soon after.

The third died last night, as Amy succumbed to the shock of her extended dip in a frozen lake. The others emerged in one piece, but it was touch and go for a while, especially where Doctor Liam was concerned.

Liam and Chas to marry following ice crash

Sustaining a head injury in the crash, Liam took a turn for the worse once ashore, vomiting and then promptly passing out. In the hospital, doctors determined that his injuries had been worse than they looked, hence his nausea and state of confusion.

In last night’s episode, he reunited with Chas, who reminded him that he’d been busy popping the question when the limo crashed. United as survivors, the pair decided to follow through and become man and wife. Some happy news, amid a week of tragedy and heartbreak?

However, some viewers have wondered whether there might be more tragedy in store for Liam and Chas. Is his head injury even worse than previously feared?

Liam to die after leaving hospital, Emmerdale fans worry

Writing on social media as last night’s episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on Liam’s well-being. And many worried that the soap may have one further trick up their sleeve yet.

“I’m wondering if Liam will recover enough to leave hospital and something will happen to the lead up to or after the wedding. He’ll have an aneurysm or something,” wrote one fan.

“I don’t know why but I think Liam may still die, something tells me he’s not going to survive the limo crash either. My mum thinks he’s going to be brain dead soon,” said another.

“I think he’ll either die or won’t remember he’s in love with Chas,” predicted a third.

“Why do I feel like Liam is next? Someone has died every episode so far this week,” a fourth commented.

  • How many people has Charity killed in Emmerdale? From Damon Harris shooting to Leyla crash death

How many people has Charity killed in Emmerdale? From Damon Harris shooting to Leyla crash death

Charity Dingle is a good person – pretty much. And yet, as she pointed out earlier this week in Emmerdale, she’s killed quite a few people now!

And she’s even been in prison for  murder, though to be fair, she didn’t actually do that particular crime.

“Why do I keep killing people?” Charity asked Mack in an emotional episode.

So we thought we’d take a look at the people whose lives she’s taken – in a roundabout way

Chloe, Damon, Charity Mack Christmas 2023

    Charity killed Damon Harris

Damon ‘Harry’ Harris was Chloe’s gangster dad. He inserted himself back in Chloe’s life when her relationship with Mackenzie Boyd fell apart.

When Damon discovered Mack had left Chloe to die in the car accident – choosing to rescue Charity instead – he was furious.

Desperate for revenge, he kidnapped Mack and held him hostage for days. Charity was convinced something was wrong, though and tracked him down. In the confrontation that followed, Damon threatened to shoot Mack. Charity tried to stop him and accidentally shot him instead!

Vanessa and Suzy in the limo crash

    And Suzy Merton

Of course we all know the drama of this week’s episodes that left Suzy dead. On Valentine’s Day, Charity was driving the limo full of over-excited women to their night out. But as she headed down the dark country lanes, Noah stepped out in front of the car!

WHAT? What on earth was Charity’s son doing in a daze in the middle of the road? We still don’t know, but we do know that Charity swerved to avoid him, lost control of the huge car and plunged into an icy lake.

Suzy was killed instantly in the collision.

    Leyla looks shocked in Emmerdale

Charity killed Leyla Harding in Emmerdale

Poor Leyla was a victim of the same collision, though she didn’t die instantly. She was stabbed with a broken glass as the car came to rest in the ice, and it took her a little while to notice what had happened.

Leyla was alive when the paramedics arrived but she had lost so much blood that she died in the ambulance on the way to hospital. In heartbreaking scenes, her medical student son Jacob tried to resuscitate his mum, only to be pulled away by the doctor.

Amy dies in hospital in emmerdale

Another death on Charity’s hands as Amy Barton passed away

The week wasn’t done with deaths after Suzy and Leyla. Despite fighting hard and waking up long enough to utter “Nate, underwater,” Amy Barton did not make it.

She had fallen under the ice while trying to escape the limo. Tracy had gone to pull her out and drag her to safety, but Amy was suffering severe hypothermia. Amy was rushed to hospital where they tried to gradually warm her up.

However her heart just couldn’t take it and to the devastation of her husband, Matty, mum, Kerry, and son, Kyle, Amy died.

Charity now has three deaths in a week on her hands.

Chris Tate dies on the floor with Charity trying to help him
Chris framed Charity for his own death (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

But Charity didn’t kill Chris Tate

Chris and Charity were happy together for a little while. Their marriage was fiery and it definitely had its ups and downs, but they stuck together until Charity rekindled her romance with Cain. That was the final straw for Chris.

So when he found out he had a fatal brain tumour, he began to plot. Knowing he only had a few months to live, Chris decided to take vicious revenge on his cheating wife.

He was going to kill himself and frame Charity for the crime!

The plan worked. Chris asked Charity round to reconcile and she came as he asked. He made sure her fingerprints were on a champagne glass filled with poison, and even made a secret phonecall to the police. As he collapsed and died on the floor his last word was “whore”! That’s brutal!

Charity was arrested, tried and sent to prison for Chris’s murder. She gave birth to baby Noah in jail. But Zoe Tate – Chris’s sister – knew the truth. She agreed to sign a statement saying Chris killed himself if Charity gave her Noah.

The deal was done, Zoe handed over the statement and the £10k Charity had asked for and Ms Dingle walked free.

But eventually she fought to get Noah back and that £10k was burned by a disgusted Debbie.

Charity didn’t have the cash, but she did have her freedom and her son.

    The villagers grieve

The police have questions for Noah

As Emmerdale confirms Nate is corpse in lake, all the questions soap must answer

We put the pieces together earlier this week and now it has been confirmed that Nate Robinson is the body in the lake in Emmerdale. But with the one person who saw him there now dead, we have A LOT of questions that the soap needs to answer.

Nate left in September 2024 in somewhat strange circumstances – and fans have long suspected all wasn’t as it seemed. Now they have been proven right with this week’s dramatic episodes.

    Nate's last scene Emmerdale

What happened to Nate in Emmerdale?

So, if we back up to September 2024, Nate was rekindling things with estranged wife Tracy. They were about to move to Shetland together, where he had been offered a job building a wind farm.

However, Moira Dingle, in the midst of battling her brain tumour (although no one knew it yet) made a pass at Nate and all hell broke loose. Caleb witnessed it, told Cain, who punched the living daylights out of Nate. Tracy then dumped him, unable to trust him and Nate decided it was best if he went to Shetland alone.

The last time we saw him, he was talking to John Sugden. Nate was getting wound up about how badly he’d been treated and had decided to confront Moira. He told John that’s where he was going, stormed off to do so and the next thing we know Tracy gets a text from him in Shetland saying he’s got there, but not to call him because his head is a mess.

Nate then never responded when he was told his grandad Zak Dingle had died and didn’t turn up at his funeral.

All of this has made viewers vey suspicious – and it turns out we were right to be!

    Nate confirmed dead in Emmerdale

Yes, us Emmerdale fans know when something isn’t right and the abruptness of his exit has had us questioning this for so long.

This week the girls of the village went on a night out in a limo and it crashed on to a frozen lake. Amy Barton was making her way to safety across the ice when it cracked and she fell in. In the water she saw a hand wearing a very distinctive friendship bracelet – the same ones Frankie likes to make, and the one that her daddy, Nate, was wearing before he left.

Everyone guessed it was Nate’s body, however it was only tonight (Thursday September 20) that confirmed it.

Amy was fighting for her life in hospital with hypothermia. But she began to stir and whispered to husband Matty: “Nate,” and “underwater”. Matty thought she meant she’d been underwater, so she said again: “Nate”, but he didn’t seem to understand.

We understood, of course, she was telling him Nate was under the water.

    What happens next…

At the end of the episode the limo was pulled from the lake by police divers. Vanessa and Tracy watched as it looked like Suzy’s body had been recovered.

But it seems Nate’s body is still in the water. The closing shots saw the body, wrapped in tarpaulin and chains, with just the arm floating free, sinking back down to the depths.

So Nate’s body remains undiscovered. But now we know about it, it has to be found, right?

Questions about Emmerdale’s Nate that the soap need to answer

When will the body be found?

Now Amy is dead, there is no one to reveal what she saw. Matty is in far too much pain and agony to focus on her final words. But once things settle a little, will he remember and try to get to the bottom of it? Or is Emmerdale going to leave Nate in the lake for months, making us all frustrated? Please, Emmerdale, don’t drag this one out!

    John in the Emmerdale village.
Fans are convinced that in Emmerdale John is lying about who he is (Credit: ITV)

    Who killed Nate in Emmerdale?

It’s the big one, really, isn’t it? It’s obvious he didn’t just trip and fall to his death in the lake. He was murdered, wrapped up and put there. And who do we know who is an expert at disposing of a body?

Umm hmm, that’s right, John Sugden.

He has recently got rid of Anthony Fox’s corpse and he was the last person to see Nate alive, so he is a very good bet to be the killer.

Other suspects include Caleb and some fans are even wondering if it was Moira!

    Why would John kill him?

So assuming it was John who offed Nate, why did he do it? He barely knew the guy!

Is he a serial killer on the lookout for any victim who crosses his path? Or did Nate find out something about John meaning he had to be silenced?

We need a motive for this murder so we’re expecting a full-on flashback to explain everything, Emmerdale.

Who's grave is Cain standing at? (Credit: ITV)
Whose grave is Cain standing at? (Credit: ITV)

Is it Nate’s grave Cain is stood at?

Speculation has been rife ever since New Year when the soap aired five flashforwards over one involving Cain. He was seen standing and weeping at a grave, fresh from attending the funeral.

Theories over the dead person have included Caleb – who was seen flatlining – Moira – who was suffering a brain tumour – and Liam – who was also involved in the crash.

But it seems now we have our answer: is it Nate’s funeral? Is Cain grieving over his lost son, especially after beating him to a pulp the last time he saw him?

  • Nate Robinson in Emmerdale: steamy affair with Moira, marriage to Tracy and grisly death

Nate Robinson in Emmerdale: steamy affair with Moira, marriage to Tracy and grisly death

Nate Robinson left Emmerdale back in the autumn when he went to work in Shetland.

    Or so we thought.

Now in a shocking twist (that lots of fans predicted!) we have discovered that Nate is actually dead. He’s trapped beneath the ice in the same frozen lake the limo plunged into in this week’s dramatic episodes.

It’s a lot to take in. So while we get our heads round it all, we thought we’d do a quick recap of everything Nate got up to in his time in the village.

    Nate Robinson arrives in Emmerdale

Way back in 2019, Rhona met Nate in a club and they shared a kiss. A few days later she was horrified to bump into him in the village after he’d landed a job at Butler’s. There was a bit of a to-do when Rhona’s then-boyfriend Pete Barton found out about the kiss, but it was all smoothed over and Nate started work at the farm.

He was a hit with the local ladies

Nate began seeing Amy Wyatt but it was Moira Dingle who really caught his eye. The chemistry between the pair was sizzling! Not surprisingly, Nate seemed to take an instant dislike to Cain and he took a lot of delight in telling Moira she could do better.

Nate and Moira’s affair in Emmerdale

In summer 2019, Moira finally gave into temptation and kissed her hunky farmhand. She told him it was a mistake but just a month or so later, she they slept together. And when Cain went to visit Debbie in Aberdeen, things got even steamier between the pair.

    Spotted!

When Amy confessed to Nate that she and Kerry were responsible for the fire that killed Frank Clayton, Nate wanted to know more.

He spoke to Tracy about it but when Kerry spotted him, she thought he was revealing all about their involvement. Amy kicked off and Nate stormed away.

Wanting to calm it all down, Kerry went to speak to Nate, only to spot him in bed with Moira! He blackmailed Kerry, telling her he’d not go to the police if she kept quiet about his affair. Kerry agreed on condition he broke it off with Amy.

    Cain takes revenge

By the October of that year, things were heating up with Moira and Nate, but Cain was on to them! He lured them both on a boat trip and confronted them. The men ended up fighting, only for Nate to reveal that he was Cain’s long-lost son! Cain hadn’t even known he existed. As the pair tussled, the boat was rocked by an explosion – but fortunately everyone on board made it to safety. Which was more than we could say for Cain and Moira’s marriage – that was definitely over!

Nate Robinson takes revenge in Emmerdale!

Nate thought Cain had known his mum Cara was pregnant and had abandoned them both. Seducing Moira had been part of his revenge plan.

But Faith – Cain’s mum – explained that hadn’t been the case. It took a while, and the rest of the Dingles welcoming him into the family, but Nate eventually managed to forgive his dad – and his dad forgave him, too.

    Nate Robinson: Falling for Tracy

In early 2020, Tracy Metcalfe began dating Nate. The pair quickly got serious and by the summer Tracy was pregnant. During her pregnancy Nate was framed for a hit and run accident on Moira.

It turned out the real culprit was Jamie Tate, but for many complicated reasons – mostly to protect his aunt, Belle Dingle, Nate took the blame. Luckily he avoided a prison sentence so he was there when his daughter Frankie was born.

    Tracy’s PND

Not long after Frankie was born, Tracy began acting strangely. She was distant and moody. Nate was trying to support her, and he proposed – Tracy accepted but she was really struggling.

The very next day, she went missing with little Frankie. Fortunately, Nate’s grandmother Faith found her and realised she had severe post-natal depression. Both Tracy and Frankie went to a mother and baby unit to get treatment. When she returned, though, it wasn’t all plain sailing and Nate found it difficult.

Nate cheats on Tracy in Emmerdale

On a night out with Mack, Nate met a woman called Fiona Murphy. It was just a one-night stand, but he was horrified when she arrived in the village as the new girlfriend of his sister-in-law Vanessa!

Obviously the secret was out. Tracy was devastated and took a job in Nottingham.

    Nate and Naomi

Newly single Nate started a romance with Naomi Walters.  But as it turned out he was way too boring for wild Naomi! He wasn’t that boring, though, because when Tracy returned briefly, she and Nate hooked up.

But she revealed she was engaged to someone else and slioped off back to Nottingham. Nate and Naomi split too. He had a brief fling with Chloe Harris. But he was hiding a secret…

Nate and Tracy’s wedding in Emmerdale

In the summer of 2023, Nate was acting strangely. Cain and Moira thought he was up to something and followed him to the town hall, where they spotted Tracy in a wedding dress. Worried Nate was going to try to stop her wedding, they bundled him into their car.

But it turned out HE was supposed to be marrying Tracy. They eventually tied the knot and settled down together in Emmerdale.

    Dodgy decisions

Suffering from money troubles, Nate began working for his old friend Corey Sanderson. He got a job as a chauffeur for a gangster called Harry but when he was asked to shift some guns, Nate panicked and got rid of them.

Luckily, Caleb stepped in to help get Nate off the hook.

    Caleb and Tracy

Meanwhile. sparks flew between Caleb and Tracy and the pair were soon having a torrid affair. Ruby revealed all at Belle’s wedding reception and not surprisingly, Nate and Tracy split. It was very acrimonious, but slowly Nate and Tracy began talking again.

In September 2024, Nate landed a job in Shetland. Tracy and Frankie were going to join him but events overtook their plans. Moira was acting strangely with her brain tumour – though she didn’t know that yet – and she tried to kiss Nate. Caleb saw it, told Cain – and Tracy. And everything fell apart. Cain attacked Nate, while Tracy announced she wasn’t going to Shetland after all.

The last person to see Nate in the village was John Sugden. Nate told John he was leaving for good. A few days later Tracy got a message saying he was settling down in Shetland and he’d be in touch. But he wasn’t – not even when his grandad Zak died.

The death of Nate Robinson in Emmerdale

But now it seems he was in the lake all along! Nate’s made a few enemies in his time but surely none that hated him enough to kill him?

Nate was discovered by Amy Barton who fell under the ice into the water below. She had been trying to get out of the limo she’d been travelling in that had crashed on to a frozen lake.

The ice cracked beneath her and she fell in, only to be terrified to see an arm in there with her. The arm was wearing a distinctive friendship bracelet, like Frankie makes, and that Nate was wearing when he was last seen.

Amy uttered Nate’s name in hospital as she fought for her life, confirming it was him she saw, but when will his body be found?
