Emmerdale fans in complete U-turn over ‘poor Mack’ as Ross kisses Charity

Fans of Emmerdale have found themselves conflicted for ‘poor Mack’ after Ross leaned in for a kiss with Charity. Ross has only been back in the village all of five minutes, but he didn’t waste much time in making his move.

Charity spurned her former lover, but the chemistry between the pair was undeniable. And, as the pair shared a quick kiss last night (Monday, November 4), viewers took that as all the confirmation they needed that an affair is nigh.

But where does this leave Mack?

‘Poor Mack!’ cry Emmerdale fans as Ross makes his move

Writing on social media as the scenes aired, fans shared their horror at the thought of a Charity and Ross reunion. And many felt pity for Mack, who is sure to be left out in the cold by a potential Ross and Charity reconciliation.

“He’s playing Charity … again. She will fall for his charms deffo! Poor Mack!” cried one fan.

“Nooooo please don’t do this to Charity and Mack,” said another.

“Course it was coming poor Mack,” said a third.

“No! No! No! Don’t split another couple up!” a fourth horrified viewer begged.

Fans’ consternation came as quite the change of tune, given Mack’s historied unpopularity among Emmerdale viewers.

    Poor Mack?

Mack – often dubbed ‘Mackrat’ on social media – may be playing the ideal husband and father at the moment, but it was only last year that he had Charity in a state over his cheating with Chloe.

Fathering a child after a one-night stand, Mack then lied about his infidelity for months on end. And, once the truth came out, he then played both women for fools, (somehow) reuniting with Charity amid the new life he’d built with Chloe and Rueben.

Somehow, Charity managed to forgive and forget and so, it appears, did many viewers.

  • Time for Charity to leave Mack? Fans sick of Mack’s ‘dad of the century’ facade

Time for Charity to leave Mack? Fans sick of Mack’s ‘dad of the century’ facade

Emmerdale fans were delighted with the familiar face of Ross Barton returning to the Dales, but now they’re calling for a relationship shake-up for Charity and Mack.

Ross and Charity definitely have a connection, with Charity being the mother of his child. While she has since moved on with Mack – who is NOT Ross’ biggest fan – fans are asking for him to step down.

Adding to this, actor Mike Parr has hinted at what’s to come between Ross and Charity. Could this be the end of Mack and Charity?

    Emmerdale: Charity and Ross

Last week’s episodes of the soap (Monday, October 28) revealed that Ross is back in town, showing up as Billy’s opponent in the underground fight club he’s recently gotten himself involved with.

Upon hearing of his return, Mack made his views very clear. He does not like Ross, and wants him to stay away from Charity and Moses. Ross even punched Mack, who insisted on winding him up (what’s new?!).

The pair made sure Moses was out of the house on his return, but that didn’t stop Ross from coming over. He dropped a few bombshells, including news that Rebecca had passed away.

She died during a routine surgery. Last night (Thursday, October 31) Ross revealed that Bex’s son Seb had gone to live with one of Rebecca’s relatives – leaving him as a single man.

Elsewhere, actor Mike Parr teased a potential reunion for Ross and the mother of his son, Moses: “You really can’t hate somebody who’s doing a great job of raising your most beloved possession.

“But it’s Ross, and it’s Charity. There’s always going to be fireworks.”

But, where would this leave Mack?

Emmerdale fans desperate for Charity to ditch Mack for Ross

Many fans have been encouraging Charity to ditch Mack so that she can focus on Ross.

One X viewer expressed: “Just watched tonight’s ED and wish I hadn’t because the Charity/Mack scenes made me feel sick and my day is now ruined. Also Mack making out he’s father of the century. Wake up, Charity!”

Another replied: “Truly abysmal! Dad of the year Mack talking about parenting after how he treated Chloe and Reuben. He’s zapped the sense and logic out of Charity’s character, awaiting her to come to her senses!”

Charity used to be such a complex character, now it seems she’s there just to mother Mack,” wrote a third.

A fourth person added: “The difference in chemistry between Charity/Ross, and Charity/Mack is insane. I’ll never understand why Emmerdale stuck her with Mack long term, [bleep] awful decision!”

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Ross is back! Rebecca’s dead! And Nicola’s on the warpath!

Emmerdale review of the week: Ross is back! Rebecca’s dead! And Nicola’s on the warpath!

This week’s Emmerdale review is full of disbelief! Because we’ve had some very bad news about Rebecca and we’re really sad about it. But there have been some moments that made us laugh, too.

Here’s what’s got us sobbing and chuckling in this week’s Emmerdale review.

Ross Barton in the barn before the fight
    Ross is back! (Credit: ITV)

    Ross Barton is back!

We were delighted to hear Ross was coming back! He’s got so much history with people in the village, and we were with him every step of the way when he was coming to terms with the injuries from his acid attack.

Billy and Ross face off with Jade in between
Yes, we get it, you’ve both got big arms. Are we done now? (Credit: ITV)

But we didn’t like his arrival

But as much as we love Ross, we really dislike this whole bare-knuckle fighting storyline. Billy may be the most boring man in the village, and he’s not made more interesting by punching other men in the face.

Plus the whole set-up barely makes sense – if it was so important for Billy to lose the fight, why not just tell him that? It’s hardly an honest game anyway, so the whole thing being a set-up wouldn’t be a surprise, surely?

Anyway, that aside, the reveal that Ross was Billy’s opponent didn’t thrill us.

BUT despite his yawnworthy arrival, and the knowledge that there is more boxing boredom to come, we are loving Ross being back in the village.

Ross putting Mack in his place in our Emmerdale review

Of course one of the best things about Ross is him putting Mack firmly into his place. We especially enjoyed him calling Mack a “soft turnip” which is exactly what we’re going to call him from now on.

    Ross and Rebecca get together
Ross and Rebecca were such a cute couple (Credit: ITV)

But there’s bad news too, in our Emmerdale review

We loved Rebecca White. Her total disregard for morals, her funny comments, and her redemption storyline after her brain injury all made her one of our fave characters. And we really loved her and Ross bonding over their life-changing injuries (not to mention their love of Real Hairdressers of Harrogate).

So we were devastated to discover that she and Ross had broken up – only to get the news seconds later that Rebecca is dead! WHAT? It’s such sad news, and yet another young woman killed off in soap, albeit off-screen.

    Adam Barton and Moira hugging
See how happy Adam makes everyone?! (Credit: ITV)

    Bring back Adam!

We were thrilled to hear Moira’s gone to visit her son Adam. And we are hoping she brings him back with her. Yes, we’ve been hoping that since he left in 2018, but honestly, we’re never giving this up. Never.

    Nicola's furious with Tom
    Yay, Nicola! (Credit: ITV)

Don’t get on Nicola’s bad side

We are LOVING Nicola’s one-woman campaign against Tom. She’s totally got the measure of him (finally) and she is not giving in. We were so pleased that she took little Carl down to the police station partly because it was the right thing to do, and partly because it proved to her son that she had his back – especially when muppet dad Jimmy clearly doesn’t.

Plus we’re still loving DS Foy. More of him, please!

  • Finally! Ross put Mack in his place – and it’s about time someone did!

Finally! Ross put Mack in his place – and it’s about time someone did!

Ross came face to face with Mack last night on Emmerdale. And, it’s safe to say that the two chaps didn’t get on.

It was a clash of the egos as both men fought over Charity and Moses, but was it really a fair fight if one guy was always going to come out on top? (Cough cough, Ross!)

It’s about time someone knocked Mack off of his self-made pedestal, and we’re glad that Ross took that task upon himself and succeeded.

Emmerdale's Mack, Mary and Ross are serious in the pub

Emmerdale: Ross and Mack – immediate enemies

Yesterday in the Dales (Tuesday, October 29), Mack watched Ross and Billy fight in the Warehouse before realising that Moses was watching his dad fight in the corner.

Trying to protect Moses, Mack picked him up and took him out of the fight. He then went home and told Charity about Ross’ bare knuckle fighting.

It wasn’t long before Ross turned up in a rage, demanding his son back. Mack and Ross then touched each other’s nerves as Ross mentioned Reuben. Mack retaliated and brought up the topic of Debbie.

Well, that was enough to push Ross over the edge, punching Mack and causing him to drop to the floor in pain. Admittedly, we loved to see it!

After yet another clash in the Woolpack, Mack and Ross faced off once more outside. Ross then suggested that Charity had stooped to a new low by marrying someone like Mack, before telling Mack that he was going to stick around in the village and make his life hell, ‘throwing a grenade’ into his life. Oh, this is going to be EX-PLOSIVE.

Emmerdale's Ross is serious whilst talking to Mack
Ross is a legend for this (Credit: ITV)

Ross finally knocked Mack down a peg – and we’re thrilled

We’ll be honest, we loved to see Ross see through Mack and tell him exactly what he thinks of him.

The guy has only known Mack for all of two seconds yet he’s managed to call him out and build a fairly accurate picture of him already. And, this must be celebrated.

Mack’s narcistic ego is often through the roof, and we’re not sure he even realises just how selfish, controlling and annoying he can be. Maybe Ross’ words will allow him to do some reflecting…

We’re not saying that there isn’t a redeemable aspect of Mack, but he definitely needs to change his behaviour. And, Ross already bringing this up on the first meeting is perhaps a hopeful step in Mack trying to do better. If he can acknowledge his behaviour, then maybe he’ll do the work too. Or, are we just being optimistic here?

Either way, we’re thrilled to see someone enter the village who will challenge Mack. This may just be the test he needs to step up as Charity’s husband for once before Ross swoops in and takes her from underneath his nose!

Emmerdale spoilers: Billy fights again, but has no idea of the danger that he’s in

In Emmerdale spoilers for next week, Billy takes part in another fight and continues to lie to his family.

Billy recently got involved in unlicensed underground boxing in order to make some extra cash. Viewers then met ruthless boxing promoter Jade, who runs these fights. She convinced Billy to keep fighting and, desperate for cash, Billy agreed.

Next week, Billy’s story continues as Jade escorts him to another fight.

As one of few people in on Billy’s secret, Mack has done his best to try and talk sense into Billy. Next week, Aaron encourages Mack to put a stop to Billy’s fighting before it’s too late. Mack does his best to talk Billy down, but Billy is adamant that he needs the money.

After seeing Billy on Main Street, being escorted to the fight by Jade, Mack is aghast. He tries again to talk Billy out of fighting, but Billy tells him he has to go ahead with the fight for his own safety. Aaron and Mack decide to go to the fight and try to help Billy.

As Dawn buries her suspicions, Billy feels guilty about lying to his family. When he meets with Jade, he tries to back out of the fight but he realises he has underestimated the people he’s dealing with.

Later, at the warehouse, Jade details the dangerous rules of the unlicensed fight. The penny drops for Billy and he clocks that Aaron was right about the nature of the event. Billy knows he has made a big mistake, but how can he get himself out of the desperate situation?

Spoilers: Concerns grow for Billy over his determination to fight

Billy Fletcher has his friends worried in Emmerdale spoilers next week, as his determination to earn money through fighting grows. With Billy taking part in another unlicensed match, both Mackenzie and John grow concerned for his well-being.

This comes as desperate Billy attempts to provide for Dawn and the children by taking part in unlicensed, underground boxing matches. Things haven’t been easy for the pair since doctors diagnosed little Evan with leukemia earlier this year.

The struggling dad has kept his violent second job a secret from Dawn – hiding both the fighting and subsequent injuries behind a series of (not all that convincing) lies and excuses.

But with Billy still set on his highly dangerous course of action, Mackenzie is shocked and worried for his well-being. And, even as John attempts to assist with an impromptu coaching session, he and Aaron try to talk Billy out of fighting again.

Emmerdale spoilers: Mack worries as Billy prepares to fight again

Unable to provide for Dawn and the children yet again, Billy continues to feel like a useless father. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is shocked when he learns that Billy’s boxing training is for another dangerous and unlicensed fight.

Concerned, he attempts to dissuade Billy from this violent course of action. Can he talk Billy out of fighting again?

    John whips Billy into shape

Catching up with Billy, Mack is impressed that John’s coaching session seems to have improved Billy’s defence. But, as their concern for Billy grows, John enlists Aaron’s help in an attempt to persuade Billy he’s in no shape to fight.

    Will it work?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Moira received Zak death news and Billy swore Mack to secrecy

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Moira received Zak death news and Billy swore Mack to secrecy

Emmerdale tonight (Monday, October 14) saw Moira Dingle told that she could have her much needed operation tomorrow. After a walk down memory lane with Matty, she decided to go ahead with it. But bad news followed when she answered a call from Debbie informing her of Zak’s passing.

Elsewhere, Amelia continued to see Tom as God’s Gift. Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight.

Emmerdale's Moira and Matty are standing seriously outside

Moira received good and bad news

While cooking breakfast, Moira suffered a seizure, which saw her fall forward and burn her hand on the frying pan. Matty was worried about his mum, but relief came when Moira got a phone call from the hospital telling her there had been a cancellation and she can have her operation tomorrow.

Despite this being good news, Moira told Matty she was scared. “It was easier when it was months away,” she said. “It’s like when you arrange a night out, but when it comes to it, you’d rather stop in and stay on the sofa.”

Moira and Matty went for a walk and visited Holly’s tree. They reminisced about Holly and spoke about what her life would be like now. Moira admitted that she was worried that the operation would go wrong and she’d leave her kids without a mum. After Matty told his mum that Holly would want her to do everything she could to get better, Moira resigned herself to having the operation.

“You know I’m a terrible patient, right? Non stop moaning and full of self pity for weeks…” Not much different from normal then…

Matty told his mum to tell Cain about the operation and not keep secrets. Of course, Cain chose that moment to arrive back from Scotland and wanted to know what secrets. Matty covered for his mum by just telling Cain about the seizure Moira had that morning.

Moira had another moment when she asked Matty to check on the cars. “What cars?” he asked, “Cows, you know what I mean,” she responded.

Cain said he had wanted to surprise Moira. He told her Zak was doing a lot better and had bullied him into coming home. When she later tried to tell him about the operation, she backed out again. All thoughts of the operation were erased when she answered a call from Debbie on Cain’s phone while he was in the shower.

She then had the tough job of telling Cain that Zak wasn’t doing a lot better at all, he has died. Sob.

Mack kept Billy’s secret in Emmerdale tonight

Billy bumped into Mack in the village, who told him he could get him some work up at the farm. After Billy responded that that wasn’t enough, Mack continued to surprise everyone by being the voice of reason. He told Billy that farm work was better than doing something ‘really, really stupid’ such as illegal boxing. “Whatever they’re paying you, it’s really not worth it,” he said.

Billy confused Mack – and us – by saying he wasn’t doing it for the money, despite the fact that he literally did it for the money last week.

In the Woolpack over a pint, Billy said that fighting is a way to escape his life – struggling with an ill son. “When I’m in there [the ring], there’s nothing else I can think about,” he said. “This is helping me deal with the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. So I’m begging you, please keep this to yourself.”

Later, Mack visited Billy at his house. He told him he’d keep his secret, but wouldn’t let him do it alone. “You need someone looking out for you and for keeping you in shape,” he said.

Mack then quoted Rocky, “You’ll be able to spit nails, kid.” It was completely lost on Billy though, as he is a boxer who has never seen Rocky. Mack spoke for us all when he said: “Wow, OK, we’ve got a lot of work to do then.”

Amelia lashes out at Chas and Belle in Emmerdale
Amelia continues to side with Tom (Credit: ITV)

Amelia continued to be a lovestruck teen

If you didn’t think Amelia could be anymore stupid, you’re wrong.

Tom met Amelia at the café and made a big show of being in pain. When Amelia questioned this, Tom responded that it’ll take a while to heal, but ‘it helps knowing I have you by my side.’ Insert eye roll emoji.

Tom informed Amelia that he was going to take her on a special date. Cue Amelia getting dressed up ready for a fun afternoon… at the Woolpack. Yes, he took her to the local pub.

Luckily for Tom, Amelia can’t see the wood for the trees, so when Tom spouted some dross about the Woolpack being special for them and that the more time they spend there the more the locals will accept them as a couple, she went all gooey eyed.

“We can go to Leeds if you like, just think it’s way more special here,” he said. “What’s the point in showing you off in a room full of strangers?” Insert vomit emoji. Surely Amelia’s brain will kick into action eventually?

    Elsewhere in Emmerdale tonight…

Dawn visited Home Farm, initially to see Kim. But when Kim wasn’t there, she eventually confided in her dad that money was tight. Will agreed to find £5,000 in order to get her a new car.

While doing some plumbing work at Liam’s house, Sam got emotional talking about Samson. Liam tried to reassure Sam, telling him he was a good dad. Later, feeling cheered up, Sam told Liam he was taking Belle snaring – yes, us neither…

The alarm was raised after Mack realised someone had forgotten to secure the animals in their pen, and he knew at once Moira was to blame.
