Emmerdale tonight: Moira got the wrong end of the stick, Frankie did a runner, and it only took Tom five minutes to cheat on Amelia

Moira was adamant that Ruby was trying to get into her man’s pants tonight and ended up giving her a good ol’ Glasgow Kiss.

Elsewhere, little Frankie went missing (although we probably wouldn’t have noticed because she’s hardly ever on screen!) And, Amelia considered getting a puppy.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight on Wednesday, September 4.

    Emmerdale tonight: Moira’s Glasgow Kiss

Moira was reallyyyy confused tonight, asking Tracy to give a delivery to David despite David being long gone from the village. She clearly hasn’t been keeping up to date with the village news, has she?

Later on, Moira saw Ruby give Cain a squeeze of the arm and got it into her head that Ruby wanted to get her husband into her bed! Heading over to Mill Cottage, Moira then accused Ruby of exactly this and headbutted her – Glasgow Kiss style (and nobody gives out a Glasgow Kiss quite like Moira does!)

Cain and Caleb then walked in and were horrified by the scene, with Ruby milking her injuries and feeling sorry for herself as she tended to her bleeding nose. She took great pleasure in mimicking Moira’s Scottish accent though, suggesting that she would ‘knock the Scottish DNA’ right out of her.

Moira was clearly not feeling well as Cain asked her about her blood tests. Moira couldn’t even remember booking the appointment, with Cain at his wits end with his wife. He didn’t know how to help her if she couldn’t help herself. Will Moira ever get answers over what’s the matter with her?

Tom wanted to get Amelia a puppy…

Amelia broke the news to Kerry that she and Tom were now sort-of a thing, and Kerry was right to have her concerns.

As Amelia and Tom sat with Kerry with the Wooly, Noah couldn’t help but seethe as he watched his ex get cosy with Belle’s husband. And, if Noah was feeling bad about the whole thing, it’s safe to say that Belle was feeling a whole lot worse.

She overheard Tom offering to get Amelia and Esther a puppy and soon feared that history was repeating itself. We reckon that Tom should never lay hands on another animal again, and we think poor Piper would agree!

    Emmerdale tonight: Cheating Tom

Letting himself into Belle’s house, Tom enjoyed watching Belle suffer.

Belle stood her ground though, begging Tom to stay away from Amelia. It was obvious that Tom’s new relationship with Amelia was just to get to Belle though, as he soon cheated to his new girlfriend by kissing Belle.

His wife didn’t reciprocate this kiss though, with Tom then telling Belle that it would only be a matter of time before they were back together again. Someone please tell Amelia (not that she’d believe them though!)

Frankie also wanted a puppy – and did a runner!

Amelia wasn’t the only one with puppies on her mind tonight as Frankie discovered that there was a litter of pups at the vets.

Frankie soon ran off to see the cute animals, with Nate, Tracy and Vanessa all panicking after realising that she’d disappeared.

Tracy considered getting the police involved but fortunately child-killer Ella had found Frankie and had returned her back home safely. All that puppy talk and we never actually got to see one on screen.

Tracy was surprisingly civil with Ella despite their history…

Nate and Tracy rekindled things – again!

After this slight scare, Tracy admitted that it was hard to keep an eye on Frankie as it was. She feared what this would be like once Nate headed off for his new job in Scotland.

Admitting that she didn’t want Nate to go, the pair then shared a kiss with each other on the sofa. So, it looks like they’re on-again (how many times is that now?)

    Will’s blackmailing horror

Will and Jimmy were glued to each other’s side once again tonight (seriously, this bromance has come out of nowhere!)

Sick of being tormented, Will then confessed that this mystery person was demanding £10k after sending him some deep fake images.

Will was simply going to use the money as bait though, to lure his blackmailer in front of him in person so that he could take them on face to face. Will this end well? We think not…

  • As Ruby receives a Glasgow Kiss, here’s a look at Moira’s best showdowns

As Ruby receives a Glasgow Kiss, here’s a look at Moira’s best showdowns

Ruby is the latest Emmerdale resident to become a victim of Moira Dingle’s anger, as she is treated to a classic Soapland-style headbutt in Wednesday’s episode (September 4.) Moira becomes convinced Ruby is trying to seduce Cain and sees red, which is a common theme for her at the moment.

Ruby isn’t the only one to be targeted by Moira’s head over the years, as Charity also once received a headbutt. Elsewhere, plenty of Emmerdale residents have been at the receiving end of one of Moira’s slaps and some have even had the farmer point a gun at them.

Here, we take a look at some of Moira’s best showdowns over the years on Emmerdale.

    Moira headbutts Ruby in Emmerdale

She’s been acting erratic for weeks now, with her husband Cain bearing the brunt of most of Moira’s outbursts. However, Moira has a new target this week, in the form of Ruby.

In Wednesday’s episode (4 September), she heads round to Ruby’s house and accuses her of trying to seduce Cain. Baffled by the accusations, Ruby attempts to defuse the situation.

As Cain and Caleb arrive, Moira proceeds to headbutt Ruby. She falls onto the sofa, covering her face in pain as Cain and Caleb watch on in horror. Cain rushes to restrain Moira and later leads her away, before demanding to know what is going on with her. Oh, wouldn’t we all like to know the answer to that one?!

    Charity’s ‘gift from Glasgow’

Ruby isn’t the first Emmerdale resident to get a headbutt off Moira. Back in 2017, she took aim at Charity while the pair were embroiled in an argument over Debbie.
Charity ripped into Moira during the scene. She mocked her job as a farmer and brought up Cain’s affair, before impersonating her Scottish accent. Moira responded with a simple headbutt, declaring it to be a “gift from Glasgow.” This scene will forever go down in soap history as one of the most iconic showdowns of all time (well, at least we think so!)
    Moira kills Emma in Emmerdale

    Emmerdale Moira showdown: Emma’s death

Moira’s biggest showdown occurred in 2017, when she killed Emma Barton. She and Emma hadn’t seen eye-to-eye for a long while.

Emma had attempted to murder Moira by starting a fire in a barn (oh, how history is about to repeat itself with this one next week) but Emma ended up rescuing her as she went into labour. Emma then tried to steal Moira’s baby, Isaac. Moira also found out that Emma was the one who shot her nephew Finn (bless Finn.)

All of this led to a huge showdown between Moira and Emma on the bridge. While Moira urged Emma to tell the truth, Emma lashed out and began taunting her about Holly’s death. Moira then pushed Emma off the bridge, resulting in her death.

    Moira slaps Chrissie

    Moira punches Chrissie

Back in 2015, Moira found out Cain and Chrissie had shared a kiss. If you don’t know what happened next, we’re sure you have a good idea!

As Chrissie and Robert were rowing about their failed marriage, Moira conveniently drove past. She marched up to Chrissie, while Cain watched, and punched her straight in the face.

Chrissie was knocked onto the bonnet of a car while Robert restrained Moira. She proceeded to scream and shout at both Cain and Chrissie, before driving off in her car – simply iconic!

    Chas Dingle rows with Moira

Emmerdale Moira showdown: The Chas Dingle slap

Loyal Emmerdale fans will recall the moment Moira took on Chas in 2012. Moira confronted Chas after becoming convinced Chas was sleeping with her husband John.

Chas was quick to lay out the facts to Moira. She stated she hadn’t slept with John but made no secret of them flirting, before bringing up Moira’s affair with Cain and pointing out the irony.

Moira slapped Chas round the face, but Chas remained unfazed. She informed Moira she would “knock her into next week” if she touched her again. We look forward to Chas Vs. Moira round two!

Kim and Jamie held at gunpoint in Emmerdale

In 2021, Moira decided she’d had enough of Kim and Jamie. She headed round to Home Farm with her shotgun and held them both at gunpoint to make sure they knew she meant business.

Kim was in the middle of a business meeting and unsurprisingly she didn’t secure the deal. She was largely unfazed by Moira’s threats, and the gun pointed at her forehead, but Jamie was terrified.

Moira shot a vase to make them both know she was serious about using her gun. However, she pretended to shoot Kim but the other barrel wasn’t loaded. Moira informed Kim and Jamie that next time things would be worse, before making a dramatic exit.

Moira pins Kim against a wall

Emmerdale Moira showdown: Moira Vs. Kim

There’s few people that would cross Kim Tate, but Moira has never been afraid to take on the scheming matriarch.

In 2019, Moira barged into Home Farm and proceeded to pin Kim against the wall. She demanded to know what Kim was up to after apparently getting the police off Cain’s back. Kim was unaware of the situation, but hid this from Moira and continued to antagonise her.

Moira met her match with Kim.

Exasperated, Cain storms off, leaving Moira feeling confused and upset. What on earth is wrong with Moira? And can Cain help her before she spirals even further?

Emmerdale tonight: Will’s AI horror, Moira and Cain’s bedroom antics, and Amelia and Tom date

Over in the Dales tonight, Will and Jimmy enjoyed a little natter over some pizza as they tried to put an end to Will’s torment.

Elsewhere, Moira whisked Cain away to the bedroom to restore the spark in their marriage.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight on Tuesday, September 3.

    Emmerdale tonight: Deep fake Will

Jimmy and Will have a little bromance brewing it seems as they try to figure what on earth is going on… Just who is tormenting Will?

Boycotting the salad and having a slice of pizza instead, Will opened one of Jimmy’s work emails and got a right fright when he saw a deep fake porn video with his and Rose’s faces on.

After this initial shock, Will then showed Jimmy a video of “himself” created with AI… and it was just about the most traumatising thing we’ve ever seen.

Jimmy then encouraged Will to go the police because clearly this tormenter knew what they were doing. But, will Will take Jimmy’s advice?

    Moira and Cain’s bedroom antics

So, we all know that Moira and Cain’s relationship has hit rocky waters recently… what with Cain failing to recognise that his wife is actually rather ill.

Well, with Cain finding out that Moira’s blood tests are tomorrow, Moira tried to put a smile on both of their faces by leading Cain upstairs.

After a moment of afternoon sex, Moira made Cain promise that they would continue to talk to each other no matter what her diagnosis was. Cain agreed but also made a promise to keep having steamy moments of passion with his wife for years to come. Nothing to worry about in that department then!

    Emmerdale tonight: Tom’s tablet terror

Taking Nicola’s keys, Belle snuck into her house and nicked Tom’s tablet in a bid to get her hands on the explicit photos of herself before Tom leaked them.

However, Tom soon caught wind of Belle’s plan after spying on her through the secret camera.

As Belle went to confront him in the pub after realising that Tom had stolen HIS tablet back, nobody was very sympathetic. Amelia then covered for Tom and explained that Tom couldn’t have taken it as he’d been with her for most of the day… LIES. ABSOLUTE LIES.

    Amelia’s icky romance with Tom

At the start of the episode, Amelia headed off to Birmingham to see her dad in prison, rejecting a lift from Chas.

However, she soon returned rather quickly and was seen in the pub, lying for Tom’s sake.

She then revealed that she and Tom were an item although it was early days for them both.

Belle was horrified by this revelation (and honestly we were too), and warned Amelia to be careful.

Tom then gave Amelia a present for Esther but told her that she shouldn’t be so touchy-feely with him in public as to not make things worse with Belle.

Nate broke the news to Tracy

Nate popped by the shop and tried to speak to Tracy about his new job offer.

Tracy told him that she already knew what he was about to say, wrongly assuming that he’d gotten a new gf.

Nate then awkwardly revealed that Tracy had gotten the wrong end of the stick and that he was actually considering taking up a job in Scotland… AWKS!

  • Deadwood alight: As more details about the barn fire emerge, here’s who we want to meet their maker

Deadwood alight: As more details about the barn fire emerge, here’s who we want to meet their maker

The village of Emmerdale is headed for disaster – with news of an upcoming barn fire set to leave lives hanging in the balance.

This comes as an increasingly erratic Moira Dingle puts herself and Ruby in grave danger as she suffers visions of her old nemesis Emma Barton. Mistaking Ruby Fox-Miligan for Emma, Moira starts waving a shotgun around.

And it’s while threatening Ruby that Moira inadvertently starts a fire. And, as the blaze catches hold, it’s not long before even more lives are in danger…

But who’s on the chopping block? Here’s who we’d be happy to see go.

    Emmerdale barn fire: Nate

With rumours spiralling of an impending exit for Nate Robinson, it seems as though his time on the soap is coming to an end. This week’s episodes saw Nate moot an exit to a new job in Scotland, leaving the village behind.

Poor Nate has felt like dead wood for a while now. Sure, those biceps are nice to look at, but it doesn’t feel as though there’s much left for Nate in the village anymore – especially not with confused Moira once again coming between him and Cain.

Will Nate live to make it to Scotland?

    Mack picture (Credit: Emmerdale)
The fire would be a good excuse to get rid of Mack (Credit: ITV)

    Mack

Dubbed ‘Mackrat’ by the fans, Mack has lost any fans he might have had following his affair with Chloe Harris. He got a comeuppance of sorts, last Christmas, when he was kidnapped by her dad, but fans still haven’t forgiven him for cheating on Charity.

While it was satisfying seeing him get battered about by a bull in last week’s episodes of the soap, his rushing into the barn fire to save sister Moira could serve as a fine redemption for the character. A noble death for a character whose actions have been anything but.

    Emmerdale barn fire: Tom

True, it wouldn’t make much sense for Tom King to be hanging around at the barn – and we know he’ll likely be hanging around for as long as Christmas anyway – but we can hope, can’t we?

Following Tom’s campaign of abuse and coercive control against wife Belle, the man has emerged as one of the most hate-able soap villains of 2024. Fans are sure to be hoping for his exit, and with Tom appearing in the upcoming promo trailer… his death IS a possibility!

And, now someone’s tormenting him. But, as Will heads off to help the Dingles with the fire, we’re hoping that the fire finishes him off so that Kim can move on from the guy who has done nothing but drag her down as of late!

  • ‘Not everyone gets out of that explosion!’ Natalie J Robb and Beth Cordingly reveal all about Moira and Ruby’s fiery showdown!

‘Not everyone gets out of that explosion!’ Natalie J Robb and Beth Cordingly reveal all about Moira and Ruby’s fiery showdown!

Things are definitely heating up in Emmerdale as Moira Dingle and Ruby Fox-Miligan are trapped when an explosion rages through a barn.

With Moira clearly struggling with some sort of mysterious affliction, her issues come to a head when she puts Ruby’s life at risk.

But could both women end up dead when the fire takes hold? We sat down with Natalie J Robb who plays Moira, and Beth Cordingly, AKA Ruby, to find out what’s going on.

Emmerdale explosion: Arriving in the barn to gloat, Ruby [BETH CORDINGLY] becomes slightly sorry for Moira Dingle [NATALIE J ROBB] when she’s unresponsive to the jibes. As stressed Moira spills tractor fuel in the barn, Ruby’s voice begins to blur with her old nemesis Emma Barton’s and an unrecognisable Moira raises her shotgun at freaked out Ruby. Soon padlocking the barn, stressed Moira continues to see Emma instead of Ruby. She fires a warning shot into the air, frightening Ruby. The shot hits a light bulb, causing a spark to take hold. A tussle for the shotgun ends with Moira dazing Ruby with a blow to the head. Hazy and shaken as she comes out of her daze, Moira is soon confused. The spark catches the tractor fuel and quickly becomes a blaze as Moira freezes, helpless next to Ruby’s body
Moira and Ruby are trapped in the fiery barn! (Credit: ITV)

    What’s up with Moira?

Moira’s behaviour has definitely changed – is she aware that something’s wrong?

“She’s definitely unsettled by it,” Natalie tells us. “She’s clearly convinced it’s partly menopause but what starts to worry her is the way she’s reacting – her different outbursts. She can’t control her anger. And she’s having a little bit of a drink as well so we don’t know if that is a contribution to it. But she’s not drinking as much as maybe the audience are led to believe.”

And of course, on top of that, Moira and Cain’s marriage is starting to fall apart, thanks to her odd behaviour around Nate causing trouble.

“Caleb believes Moira has kissed Nate,” Natalie explains. “But she’s been consoling Nate about Tracy. She basically offers him a hug but from Caleb’s point of view it certainly looks more than a hug, he thinks it’s a kiss. Then he obviously tells Cain…”

And of course Cain doesn’t react well! He confronts his confused wife – how does that make Moira feel?

“She’s absolutely in denial because as far as she’s concerned that’s not what happened at all. But she is also second guessing – she’s got a little bit fuzzy with her memory and she’s confused.”

Moira’s behaviour might be unpredictable but Cain’s is absolutely on brand. As always, he lashes out first, asks questions later – and beats up his own son, Nate.

“Moira’s upset by it, and a little bit angry at him because he’s taken matters far too far and made things a lot worse than what they should’ve been.”

Arriving in the barn to gloat, Ruby [BETH CORDINGLY] becomes slightly sorry for Moira Dingle [NATALIE J ROBB] when she’s unresponsive to the jibes. Ruby sticks her nose in!

And of course, that’s when Ruby gets involved!

“I think Ruby just jumps on the bandwagon,” laughs Beth Cordingly, who plays meddling Ms Fox-Miligan. “Ruby is very upset because Moira accused her of flirting with Cain, they have had a bit of a run-in and so when Ruby finds out from Caleb that everybody thinks Moira’s been having it off with Nate she goes up to the barn to have a bit of a gloat!”

But when Ruby gets to the barn, she finds Moira is behaving very strangely.

“Very,” agrees Beth. “Ruby walks in but very quickly she can see something’s not right. Moira’s spilling oil all over her hands, she looks like she’s in a bit of a daze. She sees Ruby and starts calling her ‘Emma’.”

    Trigger point

It sounds very frightening for Ruby!

“Moira picks up a gun, at which point obviously Ruby starts panicking!” Beth says. “Genuinely she is really scared.”

So what’s going on with Moira? Does she really think Ruby is Emma Barton – the woman she killed after a dramatic series of events.

“Moira’s got no idea what is happening to her,” admits Natalie. “Definitely the PTSD comes through because they’re in the barn, just as when it was Emma Barton in the barn when she tried to kill Moira, and then Moira had a baby she didn’t know she was having!”

    Remembering another Emmerdale explosion…

So this triggers something in Moira?

“I think it sets something off in her,” Natalie agrees. “She starts to see Emma’s face in Ruby’s’ face. But Ruby obviously doesn’t know what is going on, Moira has totally lost the plot. Ruby doesn’t know who these people are. She’s freaking out and actually Moira is actually quite frightened. At that point that’s who she believes she’s seeing and Ruby says something quite similar to what Emma said to her just before she tried to kill her in the barn. She’s very triggered.”

And that’s just the beginning! Because things get worse when Moira fires the gun she’s holding.

“It hits the light, which sends sparks flying obviously,” Natalie says.

“And oil has spilled over the floor from when she was in a strange daze,” Beth continues. “We have a bit of a tussle and I get whacked and knocked unconscious by the gun.”

    Emmerdale explosion!

By then, of course, the flames are burning…

“Ruby is knocked out and Moira tries to wake her up. She does switch out of her daze and then immediately goes into trying to help Ruby. But then there is an explosion, and maybe not everybody gets out of that Emmerdale explosion…” teases Natalie.

So how did Natalie feel to revisit the Emma Barton storyline?

“I thought it was great,” she says. “When you hear about it sometimes you wonder if it will work, but it was such a wonderful team that week, a fantastic week of filming. Everything was done properly with the special effects team and everything else there was so much positivity around it, I really think its going to work. So it might sound a bit strange to you all, but I think with all the layers that are going on and all the things that are happening, it will all make sense!”

Of course, the filming itself was tricky – and dangerous and both women had stunt doubles.

“They were very brave,” gushes Natalie. “There’s a moment where something happens and the fire is completely all around them and I don’t know how they did that really! It goes to show you that’s why that’s their job and we do our job! There were some quite scary moments!”

“It was a really cool experience for everybody, the crew loved it, it was exciting,” remembers Beth. “When they did the stunts we’d all stand together and watch the stunt doubles doing their amazing stuff. It was quite an experience!”

    Best of friends

Moira and Ruby may be enemies but Natalie and Beth enjoy working together.

“I love working with Nat,” says Beth. “I’m hoping if we survive that we get more stuff together!”

“We worked together on The Bill,” Natalie explains. “But we didn’t get to know each other because the cast was so vast and you’d dip in with different people every day. Now she’s like my best buddy so it’s lovely.”

She’s absolutely gutted and can’t believe Nate would cheat on her after everything they’ve been through. How will he be able to talk his way out of this one?

Moira has been suffering from seizures, but Cain reckons she’s fallen off the wagon and started boozing again. Moira has twice battled an alcohol addiction, and Cain doesn’t want history repeating itself.
