Last month in Emmerdale, Cain Dingle cheated on wife Moira with Ruby Fox-Miligan, but fans are tiring of his guilty conscience.
Cain has been avoiding spending time with Moira as he feels guilty over what occurred. Instead, he has been finding various jobs that need doing in order to not spend time alone with his wife.
But fans have had enough and are calling for Cain to “grow up”.
The same episode saw Cain’s story told in reverse chronological order. We saw him with bloodied hands while drinking whiskey. As the clock went back further, viewers were shocked when Cain and his sister-in-law Ruby were shown putting their clothes back on.
As the clock went back again, it was revealed that the pair of them had argued, before that blew over into passion.
While both parties are eager to pretend the fling never happened, it’s Cain who is struggling with the guilt the most. He has been making excuses to not see Moira – whether that be picking up the kids or farm duties.

Emmerdale fans sick of Cain and his guilt
The storyline hasn’t proved popular with fans, who hate that Cain cheated. They are also sick of him feeling sorry for himself.
“Cain’s guilty conscience gets worse,” wrote one fan on X, while another added: “Oh ffs Cain grow the hell up and quit with the poor me guilt. If [you] tell Moira what you did it’s not gonna help her, it’s gonna bloody ruin her.”
“Every cute moment of Cain and Moira makes me want to fire every writer in the room because why did you make him cheat,” a third viewer wrote. Another added: “The guilt is written all over Cain.”
With Cain’s guilt so obvious, it’s surely only a matter of time before Moira learns about Ruby. “The guilt really is getting to Cain now, I don’t think it will be much longer before Moira finds out the truth,” agreed a fan. Another quipped: “I know Moira has a brain injury, but even that wouldn’t stop her from seeing Cain’s guilt.”

Our Emmerdale review this week is a mixed bag. There were things we loved and things we didn’t. A few things that we thought were really cleverly done and some that really weren’t.
Here’s what we thought in our Emmerdale review of the week.
Eric lost all of Brenda’s savings (Credit: ITV)
Eric’s gamble
We have been surprised by how invested we are in Eric’s impulsive behaviour and the fall out. We’ve been musing about why this has drawn us in, when it’s really a rather low-key storyline. And here’s what we reckon – it’s old school, isn’t it?
Classic Emmerdale is full of stories about money worries, scams and fraud, so in terms of subject matter this feels like something from back in the day (though back then, it would have been Pollard doing the scamming!).
But more than that, it’s been a slow burn. Eric changed his medication a while ago. It was a throwaway, inconsequential storyline that we didn’t think was important. But since then his behaviour has become more impulsive, and now his whole world has fallen apart because he’s gambled away all his money and Brenda’s too on a cryptocurrency scam.
It’s so sad to see Eric suffering and to watch Brenda’s heart breaking. We wish there was a way back for them. But it doesn’t look good, does it?
Why is Jade so scary? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale review: Evil Jade
Jade continues to be a strange mix of mega-villain and petty criminal. And we do not like it. Nothing about her weird pursuit of Ross makes sense. In fact nothing about her at all makes sense.
She is a master criminal who has a team of henchmen and one henchwoman, evil enough to dangle poor April off a multi-storey carpark. She knows everything about everyone. She has a fancy car and someone to drive her round in it. And yet her line of business appears to be running half-hearted boxing matches. She’s hardly Lex Luther is she?
What was her plan when she viciously assaulted a little girl? If her minion had dropped poor April, Jade still wouldn’t have had her money.
Why are all these hard men so scared of her? Is it the beret? And WHY OH WHY didn’t Ross, or Billy, or Aaron or Mack just call the police?
Anyway given she’s still determined to get her mitts on the missing £3000 so it seems it’s not the last we’ve seen of Jade. YAY.
There was a silver lining to April’s ordeal (Credit: ITV)
April, Marlon and Ross
The awful cloud of the whole Jade thing though, had a silver lining. Two in fact. First of all we love the revisiting of April and Ross’s relationship. They have a sweet, quirky bond that really works.
And secondly, how good was Marlon and April’s chat about Donna? It’s nice to see them together and their relationship changing as April grows up. Plus it’s always good when soaps show the long-lasting effects of grief – just as Emmerdale is doing with Moira and Holly.
Caleb’s not listening to Ruby (Credit: ITYV)
Rubbish husbands in our Emmerdale review
Marlon’s a treasure, but elsewhere in Emmerdale, the husbands are definitely lacking. They’re all just useless! Cain’s moping about feeling sorry for himself after he *checks notes* slept with his sister-in-law. Poor lamb.
Caleb’s busy ignoring wife Ruby’s obvious distress about her dad’s presence and not even asking her what’s up.
Mack’s playing Disney dad but being a right wally about it (and frankly, he deserved that punch from Ross, and the slap from Jade’s henchwoman). Eric’s lost Brenda’s life savings… the men of Emmerdale aren’t covering themselves in glory, are they?
Forgotten characters
Mary’s back! Yay! And even Ivy got a mention this week. We find it really frustrating how characters vanish for weeks at a time in Emmerdale. Now, if we could just find Rhona…
Moira’s got lovely hair (Credit: ITV)
Things that didn’t make sense in Emmerdale this week
There were a few things that left us scratching our heads this week, so we thought we’d lump them all together.
First of all, how quiet was that multi-storey carpark, in the middle of Hotten, three weeks before Christmas? The only cars parked in the whole place belonged to Jade, Billy and Aaron. There were no people around. No office workers, no Christmas shoppers. No one saw a thing. What luck,
Elsewhere, we were bemused by Moira’s very sweet memories of Holly leaving notes for the fairies in the bottom of a tree trunk. Except Holly was about 16 or more when the Bartons first came to Emmerdale.
But we didn’t spend too long wondering about that because we were very distracted by Moira arriving home with a toss of her luscious locks. Which, though enviable, seemed slightly out of keeping for someone who’s just had major brain surgery.
How did the surgeons at Hotten General manage to get inside Moira’s noggin without so much as harming a hair on her head? Impressive work!

Instead they think it will be Steph, Ruby and Caleb’s daughter, who forces the secret out.
Around the same time as Cain and Ruby, Steph herself had a bunk-up with Emmerdale bad boy Ross Barton. So when Caleb spotted the morning after pill packaging in the rubbish, he just assumed it was hers.
However, we know it was actually Ruby’s. And, as Emmerdale made a point of showing Caleb find the packaging, everyone believes that will have to play into the reveal.
Is Steph pregnant? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale theory suggests pregnancy for Steph
One new theory suggests Steph may actually be pregnant with Ross’ baby, and so obviously Caleb will then question what he found – leading to a huge bombshell hitting him and Moira.
The Emmerdale theory was first posted on a Reddit thread, and fans were quick to agree that it made sense.
One commented: “She will at least have a pregnancy scare and this is how Caleb will realise the morning-after pill packaging he found in the trash was not Steph’s.”
Another added: “I can totally see this happening!”
“They also made a point of showing the ‘this never happened’ text that Ruby sent to Cain. Either Caleb or Moira will see it,” a third penned.
Although, while many agreed, another fan suggested an alternative that would also bring another side to Anthony into the mix.
They wrote: “I thought Ruby’s dad would somehow figure out about Ruby and Cain. He could blackmail her about keeping quiet so he could stay in the village.”
It’s that time of the year again. Soaps begin to tease their big winter storylines. But Emmerdale has given fans a glimpse at Christmas, and viewers are terrified.
In a 40 second video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), all the Emmerdale Christmas lights were on display. The caption simply read: “We love our Village at Christmas!”
While it may have been an innocent post to get everyone in the Christmas spirits, many thought it was hinting at something ominous.
The video showed an empty village, not one person in sight. And as the camera moved throughout, we got to see each building’s Christmas lights up close.
But why did the village need to be empty? Why was there an eerie feeling? Well fans think they were hinting that all may seem peaceful, but that’s not the actual case.

Fans react to Emmerdale Christmas video
Taking to X, fans expressed how they were awaiting something sinister at the end.
One wrote: “Genuinely thought this was going to turn into some kind of horror trailer.”
Another predicted: “Sprinkled with murder, affairs, heartbreak and Christmas cheer.”
“Looks great. But what is the surprise under the tree this year?” a third fan asked.
A viewer wrote: “It looks amazing. But bring on more drama for Christmas!”

Christmas in Emmerdale
Let’s face it, Emmerdale loves to throw in some Christmas tragedies. The festive period seems to be the perfect time for secrets to come out or killers to strike. So it’s safe to assume this year will be no different.
A sneak peek to December in Emmerdale was released as show boss Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy that 2024 will be one of the most “exciting” Christmases in Emmerdale history.
He teased a “huge surprise arrival on Christmas Day”, as well as “some life or death jeopardy.”
There will also be “heartbreaking family drama with plenty of Dingle action”, along with some “classic gothic antics at Home Farm.”
Currently there are so many storylines bubbling away waiting to be popped open. Will Belle finally get the justice she deserves? Does the truth about Cain and Ruby come out? And just who is returning on Christmas Day – Joe?Pete?Robert? So many questions that need answering.
So with that knowledge, it seems the Emmerdale teaser was trying to lure viewers into a false sense of security. But it looks like Christmas in the Dales is not to be missed!
Emmerdale spoilers for next week see Cain’s guilt reach a whole new level as gets arrested and prepares to tell Moira everything.
Viewers have been upset with Cain recently as he cheated on Moira while she was in brain surgery. While Cain and Moira have been a strong Emmerdale couple through the years, once again they’ve been hit with a cheating scandal.
But next week, Cain lets Moira down again, and prepares to come clean. But will he?

Emmerdale spoilers: Cain gets arrested
With Moira planning on throwing him a birthday party, Cain can’t deal with being near her. Instead, he opts to lie once again and stay out the whole night.
His reckless decision leads to Moira attending her pathology results appointment alone. As she’s unaware Cain is busy getting arrested.
Jai blocks Cain’s car into a parking spot, and when he finally gets on the road, he’s stopped by PC Swirling. As he is already in a bad mood, Cain reacts aggressively, resulting in a trip to the station.
He manages to get Swirling to let him call Moira, who is shocked to hear where her husband has ended up. When he asks about her appointment, she tells him she got the all clear. However, she tearfully informs Matty that she is going to need radiotherapy.
Swirling lets Cain go with a warning, and the Dingle decides to go get drunk.

Will Cain confess to Moira?
Later, Liam finds Cain alone and drunk in the allotment. Performing his duties of the best friend, he brings him home to Moira.
But when he arrives home, Moira is understandably furious at her husband for his actions.
She decides to fill him in on the surprise party she was throwing him, and warns him that he needs to pull himself together for the next day.
As she’s talking, Cain’s guilt begins to consume him and all he wants to do is tell her the truth.
But the question remains; will he admit it? Or will he back out?
In Emmerdale spoilers for next week, Moira gets confused by Cain’s behaviour, and is forced to get her results alone.
The lies and the let downs just keep coming from Cain lately, especially at a time when his wife needs him the most.
It’s coming up to Cain’s birthday and Moira is set on celebrating, despite Matty’s concerns. But someone who is in no mood for a party is the birthday boy himself.

Emmerdale spoilers: Cain lets Moira down again
Moira has her pathology results appointment and understandably wants Cain by her side, so when she realises she has no idea where he is, she postpones them.
However, time is ticking and she can’t keep putting it off, so after a final attempt at getting through to Cain, Moira heads to her appointment alone.
Cain, however, was trying to get back to Moira when he found himself blocked in a parking spot, thanks to Jai.
When he finally gets out, he’s in a rush. And in an unfortunate timing, he is stopped by PC Swirling.
In true Cain fashion, he doesn’t handle the situation well, and his angry approach leads to him being arrested.

Swirling allows the Dingle to have a phone call with Moira, where she is completely thrown to hear he’s at the police station.
While she eases his worries by telling him her results were fine, she admits to Matty that she will need to go through radiotherapy.
Swirling lets Cain off with a warning and while he should head straight home to Moira, he doesn’t.
Instead Liam later finds a drunk Cain in the allotment. Trying to do the right thing, he drops him back home to Moira.
But when Moira is evidently angry at Cain’s behaviour, will Cain’s guilt get even worse?
Moira Dingle’s brain surgery has been the talk of the town with Emmerdale fans for weeks now. Last week saw Moira undergo surgery to remove a dangerous brain tumour.
As she went under, touching scenes saw her reunite with late daughter Holly. Meanwhile, in the real world, husband Cain was coping less well – cheating on Moira with his own sister-in-law, Ruby.
Between Moira’s successful surgery and Cain’s more successful betrayal, her surgery has been all fans have been talking about over the last week. Unfortunately, there has been another element viewers have picked up on – and it’s one that’s been far more baffling to fans.
Namely, how did the doctors manage to perform major brain surgery without damaging a hair on her head?
Moira is looking good, all things considered (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale fans confused by Moira surgery scenes
As scenes aired last night (Monday, November 25), fans took to social media to air their bafflement.
“Sorry but the surgeons would have shaved Moira’s head, stapled it back together, dressed it and bandaged it up. Not give her butterfly stitches and stick a sanitary pad on her head,” laughed one viewer.
“Well, look at that. They managed to surgically remove Moira’s brain tumour with cutting a hair on her head. Way to go, Lourdes brain surgeons!” said another.
“Don’t folk having any kind of surgery on their heads have part of their hair shaved off?,” asked a third.

Moira’s confidence takes a knock as Cain battles his conscience
Cain visited her in the hospital, but she was adamant that she didn’t want to see the kids.
She told Cain that seeing glamorous Ruby had knocked her confidence. Cain was quick to reassure her – but inside, struggled with the guilt of having slept with Ruby.

Cain Dingle has been at the heart of the action in Emmerdale for nearly quarter of a century. Next year, will mark the character’s 25th anniversary in the Yorkshire based soap, and what an incredible journey he’s had.
One of the show’s all time greats, Cain Dingle has seen and done it all. He’s schemed and cheated, spent time in prison, survived countless attempts on his life, and seduced a lot of ladies into bed.
Now he’s moved into a new chapter in his life as the new head of the Dingle clan, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. As we prepare for the wild ride ahead we thought we’d look back on some of his biggest moments.
So here are Cain Dingle‘s best bits – the good, bad and ugly…
Cain was horrified to discover Uncle Zak was actually his dad (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Best Cain Dingle moments in Emmerdale: Discovering Zak was his real dad
Cain arrived in Emmerdale on March 30, 2000 for the funeral of his cousin, Butch. Being the designated black sheep of the family, Cain had grown up believing his father was Shadrach. But in fact, he was the fruit of his Uncle Zak’s loins.
On Valentine’s Day 1974, Zak had a one-night stand with his sister-in-law, and Cain’s mother, Faith, which resulted in her falling pregnant. Nine months later Cain was born, and it was assumed he was Shadrach’s son.
The truth came out in 2001 during a heated exchange between Zak and Cain. The angry duo were about to come blows when Cain uttered those familiar words: “You can’t tell me what to do”. Zak’s wife Lisa, who was trying to pull them apart cried, “Tell him”, and with that Zak revealed he was Cain’s real father. Cain did not take the news well and branded Zak a ‘dirty liar’. He eventually came round and accepted Zak as his dad, with the pair even becoming close.
With Zak’s sad passing in October 2024, Cain has now assumed his role as head of the Dingle family.
Cain and Angie’s dangerous romance ended in tragedy (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
He’d had his eye on Angie for months, and it was clear her ‘disdain’ for him was masking a secret desire. So when Angie found out her husband Sean had cheated she decided to do the same.
Bedding the local criminal gave Angie a real thrill, but the excitement soon wore off. Cain got pied and was devastated. But instead of fighting for the woman he’d grown to love, Cain went down the seedy route and slept with Angie’s teenage daughter, Ollie, in revenge.
Sickened by Cain’s actions, Angie decided to frame him for a robbery, but the plan went disastrously wrong. Angie was fatally injured in a car chase and died in Cain’s arms as he pleaded with her to tell him she loved him.
These emotional, raw scenes proved Cain was capable of loving someone other than himself.
Cain and Charity have a whole lotta history (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
His escapades with Charity
Cain’s closet is full of skeletons, so it came as little surprise to the viewers when it was discovered he’d had a fling with his second cousin, Charity.
The pair’s explosive romance was a huge part of Cain’s early years in the village. Charity was undoubtedly his first love and together they created one of Emmerdale’s strongest ever partnerships. But it’s not all been hearts and flowers – Cain and Charity have loved and hated each other in equal measures.
It all started as a dalliance when they were underage teens, but the spark was still there as adults. After being reunited with their daughter Debbie Dingle, Cain and Charity resumed their affair. Fans couldn’t get enough of the couple’s antics. Not only were Cain and Charity compatible in the bedroom, they also made formidable partners in crime. With their penchant for illegal scams, these two became the Dales’ answer to Bonnie and Clyde.
In 2009, Cain decided he wanted to make an honest woman out of Charity. He popped the question with a plastic engagement ring – who said romance was dead?
They almost made it down the aisle, but then Charity decided she wasn’t ready for marriage. She and Cain split shortly afterwards.
In the years since, there have been a few steamy liaisons, as well as a brief affair in 2016. But whether they’ll ever get it on again is anyone’s guess!
Cain and Sadie mixed business with pleasure (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Best Cain moments in Emmerdale: Scheming with Sadie King
Cain always works best when he’s teamed up with a strong woman, who will give him as good as she’s got.
Scheming Sadie King (Jimmy’s first wife) enlisted his services to prevent Charity from marrying her millionaire father-in-law, Tom King. Sadie, who was already sleeping with Cain, asked her lover to seduce Charity and take photos.
He did as he was told and Sadie stopped the wedding by showing Tom the incriminating snaps. He jilted Charity at the altar and Sadie was victorious.
Having no further purpose for Cain, Sadie dumped him. And how did he respond? By killing her beloved pet dog, Damon, that’s how!
But Cain wasn’t done there. After pretending to shoot Sadie – which was all part of a scam to extort money from the Kings – Cain made off with the money and left Sadie with nothing!
Cain is fiercely protective of his family (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Fathering four kids
Less of a moment, but more of a journey. Cain’s development from selfish singleton to devoted dad has been an interesting one to watch.
Cain is a four by four – meaning he’s got four kids with as many women.
First up is Debbie, his only daughter, who was the product of his teenage fling with Charity. Debbie came back into Cain’s life when she was a preteen and over the years they were able to establish a close bond.
Cain’s next child was Nate Robinson. He came to the village out for revenge on the man who abandoned him, and set about seducing Cain’s wife, Moira. When the affair and Nate’s true identity was revealed it turned out Cain never even knew of Nate’s existence. Nate is now living in Shetland, and he and Cain aren’t on speaking terms.
His other two lads are Kyle Winchester, who was conceived after Cain seduced a young Amy Wyatt, and Isaac, from his marriage to Moira.
Cain and Moira’s chemistry has always been on point (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
At the time their fling started, Moira was married to farmer John Barton. But if there’s one thing that gets Cain going then it’s the thrill of the chase. Passions first ignited in Cain’s garage, then the lusty duo couldn’t keep their hands off one another.
Moira dumped Cain after he outed their betrayal to John, and the fans were gutted. They wanted more, and their wish was granted when Coira resumed their romance after John’s death in 2012.
They became husband and wife in 2014, but thankfully Cain and Moira haven’t turned into a boring married couple. Their ten-year union has been littered with betrayals (on both sides), and full of drama.
Now they’re facing their toughest challenge yet as Moira has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. And while she was on the operating table, Cain had a bunk-up with sister-in-law Ruby Fox-Miligan. Not his finest hour and the less said about that, the better.
Cain was nearly killed by one of his many enemies (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Who Attacked Cain in Emmerdale?
Cain was the centre of a huge whodunnit (aka Judgement Day) when he was bludgeoned with a crowbar and left for dead.
The attack took place in December 2011, at a time where Cain had stacked up a rather large enemy count. Those in the frame for the attack included Moira and her husband John, Cain’s 17-year old baby mumma Amy Wyatt, and Charity’s boyfriend, Jai Sharma.
But in the end it turned out the mystery assailant was Cain’s own dad, Zak. He’d grown tired of his son’s continual bad behaviour and felt Cain needed to be taught a lesson for disgracing the Dingle family name.
Zak finally ‘fessed up after realising Cain’s love rival Jai had been charged with the crime.
Cain was horrified, but eventually forgave his dad and went on to make a full recovery.
Cain has been at death’s door many, many times (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
His other brushes with death
Cain is Emmerdale’s own Lazarus – seriously, the guy is indestructible!
He survived having his skull smashed in by Zak, but that’s not the only time Cain has cheated death.
In revenge for destroying his parent’s marriage, Adam Barton set fire to Cain’s garage with him inside – but he somehow live to tell the tell. A couple of years later, Cain was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and nearly drowned in a freezing river after refusing to have it operated on.
What else? Well. Cain survived an explosion after trying to have Nate killed for sleeping with Moira. He suffered a near-fatal brain injury during a violent punch up with nephew Aaron, and most recently he cheated death rescuing Moira from a burning burn.
How does he do it?!
Cain’s been to bed with a vicar too (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)Â
Best Cain moments in Emmerdale: An unlikely romance with Harriet
What’s the one about the local bad boy seducing the village vicar?
Cain started a scandalous affair with police-officer-turned-clergywoman, Harriet Finch in 2017 after he and Moira temporarily split. After enjoying secret romps in the church vestry, Harriet, like many women before her, found herself falling for Cain.
While things were good, Cain and Harriet made an exciting couple. But deep down Harriet, and everyone else, knew Cain was still in madly love with Moira.
Their relationship eventually fizzled and Cain went back to his wife.
Cain was by Faith’s side when she passed away (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Losing Faith
One of Cain’s most heartbreaking and human moments came in 2022 with the death of his mum, Faith.
The pair had a complicated history due Faith walking out on Cain when he was 12-years-old. Faith turned up in Emmerdale in 2017 to make amends, but Cain wasn’t interested in getting to know her.
They eventually made their peace after Faith was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Deciding she wanted to die on her own terms, Faith planned to end her own life with an overdose of morphine.
Cain was by Faith’s side in her final moments. Cradling his mum in his arms, Cain apologised for his past behaviour and told Faith he loved her – three words that she’d longed to hear.
These highly emotional scenes won praise amongst viewers and showed a tender side to Cain we rarely see.
Cain went to jail to save Kyle (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Taking the rap for Kyle
Family loyalty is everything to Cain and he proved it when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his son, Kyle.
Al Chapman’s murder was one of those great OMG moments in Emmerdale. At first, it seemed Cain had killed his nemesis in revenge for his affair with Chas. But it turned out Al was gunned down by timid 10-year-old, Kyle.
In the aftermath of the shocking crime, Cain vowed to protect his son. He ‘confessed’ and was sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He’d still be there if Kyle hadn’t done the right thing by owning up.
Cain reunited with Caleb in Emmerdale
Imagine a slightly younger Cain, but with all the same bad boy traits. Well, that’s his younger brother, Caleb Miligan.
Despite their similarities, the Dingle brothers did not grow up together. While Cain was raised by his family, Caleb was brought up in the care system and had a miserable time.
His arrival to the Dales in Christmas 2022 came as a huge shock for Cain. It had been three decades since they’d crossed paths and it turned out Cain had lied to Caleb by telling him Faith had died years previously.
After a rocky start, the pair finally started to get along. It’s been up and down, but Cain and Caleb have forged a strong bond. We think he’s going to prove a useful ally in the future.

This week’s Emmerdale review is brought to you from a place of deep despair, with cries of “WHHHHYYYY?”
We are most definitely not on board with Cain and Ruby doing it. In fact, we’re so horrified by it that we’ve had quite an extreme realisation about Mr Dingle – more on that later.
The awfulness of Cain and Ruby’s hook-up has tainted the whole of this week’s Emmerdale for us, but when we put our minds to it, we can remember some moments of brightness among the gloom.
Here’s what we thought in this week’s Emmerdale review.
We loved Moira’s reunion with Holly (Credit: ITV)
Moira and Holly’s reunion
Let’s start with the good stuff: the build-up to Moira’s op, her fear about leaving her kids, and the op itself.
We’re not always a fan of quirky tricks in soaps, but having Moira see daughter Holly Barton was a really lovely touch. And her leaving Holly to go and check on the boys was a clever way of showing us how much she wanted to live.
It was sweet and emotional, and really moving. Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, really knocked it out of the park too, showing us Moira’s terror about her operation in a very understated way. It was great.
Poor Sam has been through a lot (Credit: ITV)
Sweet supportive Sam
And do you know what else we loved? Sweet Sam turning up at the hospital to support Cain, even when Cain left the hospital.
We’ve been watching Sam and Alice’s sad journey on Classic Emmerdale, so probably because of that we felt a bit teary seeing Sam arrive with his Tupperware of pasties, ready to step up for his family. What a sweetheart.
Did Steph even exist before she came to the village? (Credit: ITV)
We’ve got questions for Steph!
We quite like what we’ve seen of Steph so far. But one thing we can’t get our heads round is her parents’ complete lack of interest in her life outside Emmerdale. They’ve not spoken for more than a decade, but they haven’t asked her where she’s been living, or what she’s been doing, or if she’s single.
Caleb assumed she didn’t have a job – which she apparently didn’t, but then how has she been supporting herself until now? Caleb also assumed she had the skills to be his second-in-command at the factory without checking.
Maybe she’s a doctor or a lawyer or a stripper or a fighter pilot – he wouldn’t know because he didn’t even ask. It’s all a bit odd.
Big thumbs down for Will and Kim in our Emmerdale review
Just get back together already and stop all this exhausting brinkmanship.

We need to talk about Cain and Ruby in our Emmerdale review
We suppose we need to talk about the huge Cain and Ruby shaped elephant in the room. But we don’t want to! Because it’s actually just awful, isn’t it? Nothing about their weird five-minute bunk up in the garage makes sense. And it’s hard to know where to start with listing everything about it that was so wrong. But let’s have a go.
First up, Cain and Ruby have never even showed the tiniest bit of interest in one another. They’ve barely spoken. In fact, they barely spoke in the garage before they were suddenly snogging. It came so out of the blue that it was bewildering. If Cain had to cheat (though we question why) then we’d have perhaps gone for Ella, as they have a bit of a rapport. Not Ruby.
Another objection we have to this whole sitch, is that Ruby has won our hearts over the last few months. We’ve seen her vulnerable side, got to know her, loved seeing her forge an awkward friendship with Moira, and now this. It’s just not Ruby. She makes mistakes undoubtedly, but she is loyal and fierce and – we reckon – a real woman’s woman. This dalliance is so out of character, it might have changed the way we feel about her forever, which is a real shame.
Plus, Ruby is a smart, funny, clever woman who then messaged Cain and left her emergency contraception box in the top of the kitchen bin. Riiiiiight.
We have a lot to say about Cain here too, but actually he deserves his own section, because WHAT ON EARTH is going on there?

Cain needs to go
We have always loved Cain Dingle. We’ve forgiven him so much over the years. But we’re about ready to say enough is enough. You’re 50 years old, mate. It’s time to grow up.
We were disappointed in the way Cain reacted when Moira’s behaviour first started to change before her diagnosis. He let her down then. But, we thought, he’ll step up. He’ll make amends. It’ll be fine.
Except he didn’t and it wasn’t.
First he whinged about being left to look after things at the farm when Moira went to see her son Adam TO SAY GOODBYE, in case she died. Then he refused to talk about any of the important stuff Moira wanted to sort out IN CASE SHE DIED. And then he slept with Ruby while Moira was ON THE OPERATING TABLE. (We apologise for all this shouting but it really feels like Cain’s behaviour warrants a bit of shouting!)
He even punched Jimmy (to be fair, Jimmy did quite deserve it but still there’s a time and a place) and got himself arrested.
Suddenly, our Cain Dingle love has vanished. Gone. And we’re seeing him for what he really is – an abusive, stubborn man who’s too set in his toxic ways to ever change.
And for that reason – and frankly we can’t believe we’re saying this but we are – we think it’s time for Cain Dingle to go.
