Are Moira and Cain over for good? Natalie J Robb hints we shouldn’t give up hope yet

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Monday, March 3), Moira Dingle told husband Cain to move out of the house, but is it really over for the couple?

Last year, while Moira was undergoing an operation to remove a brain tumour, Cain took comfort in sister-in-law Ruby and they slept together.

The truth about the fling was revealed last month. While Caleb and Ruby have managed to move on, it’s been more of a struggle for Cain and Moira. Will they be able to get through it?

    Moira tells Cain it’s over

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Mack was ill, leaving Moira to rely on Cain Dingle to take her to her hospital appointment.

While waiting at the hospital, Cain tried to talk to Moira again and insisted he wouldn’t stop trying to win her back.

Moira sadly told Cain: “The part I can’t get past is you made me hate myself, hate my body for not working. And look at me now. I’m dependent on the man who betrayed me when I needed him the most.”

Cain insisted they could fix it, telling her: “It’s us.” Moira promptly said: “Not any more, Cain.”

As Cain pleaded with Moira and told her he’d do anything, Moira informed him she wanted him to move out because ‘it’s over.’

Cain was of course desperate for this not to be the case, and while Moira said she knew he was sorry and that he loved her, she also said that sometimes love just isn’t enough.

Back home, Cain begged Moira to ask him to stay. She couldn’t do that and took herself to the bedroom, where she broke down in tears on the bed.

Natalie J Robb gives fans hope

Cain and Moira have long been a popular couple, and many have called for them to not be split up over this latest indiscretion.

The pair share so much history and fans have taken them to their hearts, so it would be a massive decision to split them up, not to mention an incredibly unpopular one.

But there is good news for fans. Previously speaking at a press event, Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, hinted that the long-term future for Cain and Moira looks promising.

“I think it is really important that they stay together,” she said. “Marriages go through things. There is temptation. There are things that can happen. If everybody just gave up after the first hurdle of marriage, people would just not get married now. It’s so easy to get out now.”

Natalie continued: “A lot of people do go through things. Affairs, different things, financial problems. There could be lots of things that happen that pull you apart. But then things can push you together again. Which I think is nice to play.”

As Cain’s cheating scandal rocks Emmerdale what does the future hold for Cain and Moira? Natalie J Robb reveals all

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has hinted at what the future has in store for Moira and Cain Dingle. This follows shocking scenes last night in which Cain cheated on her while she was on the operating table.

Viewers were left shell-shocked by last night’s episode (airing Wednesday, November 20) as Cain marked the occasion of wife Moira undergoing brain surgery by, uh, cheating on her with his sister-in-law, Ruby.

Cain cheats on Moira with Ruby

Soap fans watched aghast as Cain fell into bed (or the back of a car?) with Ruby after an argument turned unexpectedly steamy.

He then rushed to the hospital where Moira was recovering from surgery, and in good spirits after dreaming up a comforting conversation with dead daughter Holly. Her good mood surely won’t last though – the truth will always come out, and Moira is bound to learn what Cain and Ruby did sooner or later.

But what does this mean for Moira and Cain?

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb reveals what’s next for Cain and Moira

Speaking on Cain and Moira’s future, actor Natalie J Robb – who plays Moira on the soap – recently told Emmerdale Insider and other media: “I think it’s really important that they stay together.”

She continued: “Marriages go through things. There’s temptation. There’s things that can happen. If everybody just gave up after the first hurdle of a marriage, people would just not get married now. It’s so easy to get out of marriages now.

  • As Moira heads in for brain surgery – is Natalie J Robb leaving Emmerdale? Here’s what we know

As Moira heads in for brain surgery – is Natalie J Robb leaving Emmerdale? Here’s what we know

After months of living with a brain tumour, Moira Dingle is going under the knife to have it removed in tonight’s Emmerdale (Wednesday November 20). And as she prepares for the worst, what does this mean for actress Natalie J Robb’s future on the show? Is she leaving Emmerdale?

Well, Emmerdale has not confirmed or denied an exit for Moira, but Natalie herself has hinted Moira is going nowhere. In an interview with Emmerdale Insider, she said there was “more to come” for her character. And after tonight’s episode (no spoilers here!) we certainly think there is!

Moira has brain surgery in Emmerdale

Moira’s odd behaviour started some months ago. She was either snappy and nasty to everyone or overly affectionate. She also forgot things she said and did – particularly the bad stuff. The farmer even made a pass at Nate Robinson, Cain’s son, which nearly resulted in the end of their marriage.

Moira was then diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumour. At first she adopted the ‘wait and see’ approach – living with the tumour and seeing if it developed and got worse. Cain was not on board with this and insisted she needed to have the op as soon as possible.

With her seizures worsening and her not being allowed to be alone with her kids or work on the farm after she killed her sheep, Moira knew he was right.

She has been practical about it, preparing a living will, visiting her eldest son, Adam, to say goodbye should the worst happen and trying to get Cain to accept she could die. All except the latter have gone well. Cain however, is not facing up to any of it and is brushing it under the table.

Tonight Moira goes in for the operation. The episode will be another format-breaking one for Emmerdale as the first half tells Moira’s story. The second half then tells Cain’s story in reverse chronological order.

So does Moira survive the surgery?

Although we don’t know for definite yet, it looks like Moira will make it through, which means Natalie J Robb is going nowhere.

Speaking to Emmerdale Insider and other media, Natalie recently said: “There’s still some things obviously to come out and I [Moira] still have to go through some treatment afterwards as well. So, we don’t know if everything is going to be hunky dory. But, there could be some slight personality change. It could be that she just deals with things differently because she’s been faced with such an ordeal.”

Ordeal or not, we’re just glad that Moira pulls through and Nat not leaving. Now as for Coira, that’s a whole other story…

Natalie J Robb swoons over new puppy following death of dog Bronson

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has revealed that she’s got a brand new puppy joining her at home following the sad death of her dog, Bronson.

Speaking to Emmerdale Insider and other press in a recent interview, Natalie told us that she’d actually welcomed her new pup that morning (November 1).

This comes after the heartbreaking death of Natalie’s much-loved former dog, Bronson.

Natalie J Robb reveals upset over death of dog Bronson

On screen at the moment, Natalie J Robb’s character Moira is going through a hard time. This is due to being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Away from the Dales, it has also been a difficult year for actress Natalie herself. Her canine companion Bronson sadly passed away.

Natalie emotionally recalled: “I had him for 13 and a half years. It was awful. It was just me and him.”

As a tribute to Bronson, Natalie has a necklace filled with her beloved dog’s chest and ear hair. She wears it close to her heart, with the fur being surrounded by aquamarine.

After Bronson’s sad passing, Natalie saw an advert for a puppy that matched one she saw in a dream, viewing it as a sign to enquire about the furry friend.

Four months later, Natalie beamed: “‘This morning I just got a little new delivery of a six month old puppy that I’ve rescued from Spain.

“He’s my Christmas present to myself.”

Natalie’s new puppy, Buddy, is a Spanish Master who she describes as ‘looking like Bambi,’ being ‘really tall’ and with ‘beautiful, black eyeliner,’ and comically looking ‘like a dog on stilts.’

Getting a new puppy isn’t all fun though, with Natalie only getting two hours sleep on the night of Buddy’s arrival. Poor Buddy had been in kennels since he was born, arriving frightened. Despite this though, he immediately loved receiving lots of cuddles from his new owner.

As the New Year approaches, Natalie is looking forward to spending lots of time with Buddy and taking him on trips out! How adorable!

  • Is Moira leaving Emmerdale? As show confirms brain tumour diagnosis, here’s everything we know

Is Moira leaving Emmerdale? As show confirms brain tumour diagnosis, here’s everything we know

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Friday September 13) will see the heartbreaking moment that Moira Dingle is diagnosed with a brain tumour. Moira and Cain learned last night that a ‘mass’ on her brain was behind her recent erratic behaviour – leaving them both terrified for her future.

Moira’s ill health had led to her attempting to kiss Nate, headbutting Ruby, and even hallucinating a confrontation with old enemy Emma Barton. In her confusion, Moira let off a gunshot which sparked this week’s barn fire-turned-explosion, putting multiple lives in danger.

The symptoms continued during the aftermath of the fire, as Moira suffered a seizure while talking to dubious husband Cain.

Emmerdale tonight: Moira diagnosed with a brain tumour

After a quick scan, Moira’s doctor revealed that they had found a mass on her brain. And, as the storyline continues, Moira will be diagnosed with a brain tumour.

In tonight’s episode, Moira discovers that she has a type of brain tumour called a meningioma. This is why she has been suffering from the symptoms which led to her sudden change in personality. It is also responsible for the confusion, memory loss… and the seizure she also suffered last night.

While non cancerous, the tumour leaves Moira terrified for her future and apprehensive about its treatment.

Emmerdale worked closely with the charities Brains Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity while devising the storyline. They will continue to support the production team to give Moira’s story a realistic and authentic depiction.

Natalie J. Robb reveals ‘challenging time ahead’ for Moira

Speaking on the storyline, actor Natalie J. Robb said: “I feel really fortunate to be trusted with such a challenging storyline. Moira and her family have an extremely challenging time ahead, and I’m hoping I can portray it in a truthful way that does justice to all the people who are really suffering with a brain tumour.”

Meanwhile, Emmerdale Producer Sophie Roper said: “Moira’s diagnosis comes as a huge shock to both her and her family and Moira faces an emotional and challenging time ahead.”

She continued: “The research and support we’ve received throughout this storyline has allowed us to depict the realities of the condition and though at times it may be distressing to see the symptoms Moira’s experiencing, we’re keen to explore the hope and resilience Moira finds as she comes to terms with her diagnosis.”

So it doesn’t sound like she’s leaving for now as the storyline has a long way to go. Can Moira come through this?

    She dated her Emmerdale co-star

Natalie previously enjoyed a romance with her co-star Jonny McPherson, who plays the Dales resident doctor, Liam Cavanagh. The couple met on the set of the Yorkshire-based soap and were smitten.

They even lived together for a while after Jonny moved into Natalie’s home during the first Covid lockdown of 2020.

Unfortunately Natalie and Jonny agreed to go their separate ways the following summer after deciding they were better off as friends rather than lovers.

Speaking for the first time about her split, Natalie told The Sun in 2023: “Unfortunately, it was Covid times, so there was this added pressure.

“He moved in with me during the first lockdown and it was just too intense, too soon. And if you’re not used to that, which I hadn’t been for a while, we realised pretty quickly that we were better off as friends.”

The actress also opened up about being questioned over not having children in The Sun interview, explaining people judge her for it.

She said: “I used to get judged for not having children. People would be like: ‘What? You don’t have any kids and you’re single? You must be crazy.’ But I just never had that feeling of: ‘Oh my god, I’ve got to have a baby.’ It has to be the right situation – I didn’t want to go and do something like that on my own.”
