  • Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ Henry Moore’s link to John Sugden

Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ Henry Moore’s link to John Sugden

Fans think they have worked out a connection between Henry Moore and one of the villagers in a new Emmerdale theory – John Sugden.

Last night’s visit to Emmerdale (January 2) saw a standalone episode which focused on Jacob’s first day at his A&E placement. And things did not go well.

But one person who was there to give him some advice was patient Henry Moore. The elderly man was a regular in the hospital, and while he waited to be seen, he made friends with some of the villagers.

Jacob met Henry Moore during his placement

It wasn’t only Jacob that Henry bonded with in the hospital, as he also connected with Cain. Perhaps due to the similarities between himself and Zak.

Henry told Jacob that his daughter Anita had dropped him off, but that he didn’t want to bother her. And then continued to talk about her.

In a heartbreaking twist, Henry died while Jacob went to get him a drink. And as it turned out, none of the stories he had been telling the trainee doctor about his daughter were true.

But one thing many fans did pick up on was his full name; Henry Moore.

Why is this interesting? Well because John Sugden was connected to an Aidan Moore, someone he has spent a whole lot of time mourning.

Emmerdale theory suggests Henry has a connection to John

He recently told Aaron that he loved Aidan and blamed himself for his death. But after the confession fans couldn’t help but feel there was more to it. And some even suggested he could be Aidan himself.

The name could be a coincidence, but small details usually do have a meaning in soaps. Could Henry have been related to Aidan? And if John isn’t really who he says he is, could he hear about Henry’s passing?

Not only do they share the same surname, but Henry’s daughter was called Anita, another name beginning with ‘A’, just like Aidan.

So while Emmerdale were trying to raise more awareness of the everyday struggles that A&E workers face, they could have also been giving us clues that there is more to come in John’s story, just like we all thought.

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their theories.

One wrote: “Could Henry Moore be related to the Aidan Moore that John keeps mourning over??”

Another added: “Wonder if ‘Henry Moore’ is related to this Aidan Moore than John was attached too…”

It will be interesting to see if there is a connection between the characters or if it was merely a random coincidence. But as we want to learn more about John this year, we can hope there is something to it.

  • Emmerdale fans spot huge blunder as Moira becomes Jacob’s biggest fan on social media

Emmerdale fans spot huge blunder as Moira becomes Jacob’s biggest fan on social media

Last night’s episode of Emmerdale saw numerous villagers take a trip to A&E during Jacob’s first day on his placement. But as Moira was showing him support, fans noticed one big blunder.

At the start of the episode of Emmerdale, Moira saw Jacob at the hospital and got excited at the thought of him starting his placement.

Then not long later, when she was on her phone, she showed Cain a photo that the student doctor put on his social media.

But eagle-eyed viewers noticed she was actually logged in as Jacob, not just viewing his profile.

This editing blunder was noticed by many fans, and it’s safe to say they found it both annoying and amusing.

Speaking about the mistake on a Reddit thread, one fan wrote: “Moira, at the start of the episode is on her profile looking at Jacob’s post. But she also seems to be logged in as him. I sure hope somebody got fired for that blunder.”

Another fan joked: “She liked his new photo so much she made it her own profile picture.”

While editing mistakes like this aren’t out of the ordinary, especially when phones are involved, it was a very easy thing to spot.

And since there was a focus on the fact Moira was even following Jacob in the first place – have we ever seen them interact? – the visual editors probably should have double checked that one.

Aside from the blunder, others question why she was so excited for him, as they don’t ever interact in the village.

Why does Moira even follow Jacob?

One jokingly wrote: “How many times have we seen Moira and Jacob on screen at the same time? They could be the same person.”

Others took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their confusion over their new bond.

A viewer wrote: “Since when did Cain and Moira notice Jacob existed let alone talk about him so much?”

While we have never really seen their friendship on screen, Moira told Cain she followed Jacob on social media because son Kyle does and she likes to keep track.

  • Emmerdale last night: ‘Brilliantly realistic’ or a ‘low-rent Casualty’ – fans in huge debate over Jacob standalone episode

Emmerdale last night: ‘Brilliantly realistic’ or a ‘low-rent Casualty’ – fans in huge debate over Jacob standalone episode

In last night’s Emmerdale episode (January 2), the show once again provided a unique standalone episode following Jacob Gallagher’s first day at his A&E placement.

While he was initially excited for the experience. His first day quickly turned into hell as he made a huge mess-up.

Things kept getting progressively worse for Jacob, and by the end of the episode he looked like he had been there for more than one day.

While Emmerdale was trying to highlight the importance of A&E workers, along with the stress on the healthcare system. The response seems to be divided.

    Jacob Emmerdale episode was ‘realistic’

On one side of things fans praised the storytelling for how realistic it was. The A&E department was busy and chaotic – similar to the real life situations.

Fans praised the Emmerdale episode in the comments of their Instagram post.

One wrote: “It was very realistic! I’m an ex-nurse and saw this on the A&E wards with my own eyes. It’s a very stressful job.”

Another added: “It was an emotional episode today. Seeing it from different people’s eyes, who are all going through difficult times. Well done Emmerdale.”

A third viewer praised: “What a rollercoaster. Brilliant writing, acting and production.”

However, not everybody appeared to share the same thought process, as many others thought the episode didn’t actually need to happen.

    Fans slam ‘low-rate Casualty episode’

After Jacob made the huge error of telling Marlon and Rhona that the teenage stab victim was April even though he didn’t see her, his boss gave him some harsh words – right in front of everyone else.

Viewers felt that wasn’t necessary and while he deserved to be told off, it should have happened in private.

A viewer commented: “I could have written this. Knew it wasn’t going to be April and the old guy was going to die. This was like a really low-rate Casualty episode.”

Others seemed to agree with this view. Another added: “That nurse would have been reported immediately. Mistakes happen and they are learned from. Damaging the confidence of a starter is not the way to go.”

A third simply wrote: “This episode was unnecessary and boring.”

While it may have gotten mixed reviews from the viewers, it seems the Emmerdale episode certainly got people talking.

  • Viewers believe John is definitely ‘lying’ about Aidan Moore after he opens up to Aaron – so just what is he hiding?

Viewers believe John is definitely ‘lying’ about Aidan Moore after he opens up to Aaron – so just what is he hiding?

In last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Tuesday, December 17),  John opened up to Aaron about his past with the mysterious Aidan Moore. But the conversation has left viewers more convinced than ever that he is lying.

When John first arrived on our screens earlier this year, fans were quick to assume he was hiding something. That’s when we were treated to the mystery of the dog tag with the name Aidan Moore.

John explained that away as someone he cared about who died in Afghanistan as he couldn’t save him. But is he being honest?

For months fans have been deeming John as the ‘fake Sugden’ as they believe there is a bigger secret at play. But exactly what that is remains unknown.

Fans still believe John is lying in Emmerdale

While many fans have criticised the show for appearing to try and copy Aaron’s relationship with Robert, some others feel this may be a hint at John’s true plans.

There are many theories out there; Robert somehow wronged John and so he is taking revenge against those he loved, or maybe John actually is Aidan Moore. Either way, there has to be more than we know. Right?

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) after last night’s episode, viewers all could agree on one thing; John is hiding a big secret.

One wrote: “You could reveal John was a serial killer and I would believe it. It’s got to be one of two things with him. Either the writers worry they won’t find a better pairing than Aaron and Robert so they’re trying to write him as the ‘perfect guy,’ or it’s intentional and he is a threat.”

Another added: “So we’re all in agreement that John has stolen Victoria’s identity and isn’t actually him, right?”

A third penned: “I don’t trust John at all. Sorry. He’s lying and I get pure bad vibes from him.”

Could it lead to a happy return?

However, one fan hoped that whatever his secret is, it will lead to the reunion we all want – Robert back in the village.

They wrote: “There is something off about John. I don’t trust him at all. And now I’m worried about Aaron because he lets his guard down too easily. I just hope the whole storyline is leading to a return for Robert.”

So could John or Aidan have served time with Robert inside? It would have given him the access to all of those he cares about most in the village. So far, it’s definitely a strong contender.

And a Robert return is definitely what we all would like to see. If Emmerdale bosses can bring back Ross Barton this year, why can’t they do the same for Robert?

So, is John being honest? Or is there more to come out about the new Sugden?
